Assisting in preparing
advertising material
In a small firm the marketing clerk may be
responsible for drafting advertisements and
placing them in the local advertising media – e.g.
newspapers, radio, etc. However, more complex
or expensive advertisements are usually created
by advertising specialists. It is therefore, the
responsibility of the clerk to obtain any technical
information needed, ensure that all details are
accurate and approved by the manager before the
publication deadline.
7. Assisting with promotional
activities
This includes organizing publicity events, issuing
invitations, creating window displays, and
attending trade fairs, exhibitions or social events

Maintain mailing lists and
records
One of the duties of the clerk is to continuously
update the company’s mailing lists, in case
there is change in customer’s address, names,
phone numbers, etc. New customers who
make purchases are also added on the mailing
list and are automatically sent literature such as
newsletters, sales brochures or catalogues
when there are any promotional activities,.

Assist in preparing press
releases
The marketing clerk may be involved in the
preparation of press releases. Businesses uses
press releases to announce new products or
services or promote the company’s products or
services.

Organize travel
Marketing staff may travel extensively to promote
company products by visiting potential purchasers
or attending overseas trade fairs and exhibitions.
The marketing clerk may be responsible for
making these travel arrangements.
