treatment till they are discharge.
 There are four systems for in-patient drug distribution
department:
1. Individual prescription order
2. Complete floor stock system
3. Combination of 1 and 2
4. Unit dose dispensing system
 It is the type of Prescription system where the physician write
the prescription for individual patient who obtained the
medicines from any medical store or hospital dispensary by
paying on charge.
 Under this system the drugs are given to patient through the
nursing station and from pharmacy supplies. Drug on nursing
station or ward divided into:
 a. Charge Floor Stock Drugs
 b. Non-charge Floor Sock Drugs
 In this system medicines which are stocks on the
nursing station at all time and charged to patient

The patient is charged for every single dose
administered to him.
Selections of drugs in various
wards is decided by “Pharmacy and Therapeutic
Committee”
 Non-charge floor stock drugs are the medicaments that are
placed at the nursing station for the use of all patients on the
floor.
For these drugs, there shall be no direct charge from the
patients account.
It is divided into following methods-
a. Drug Basket Method
b. Mobile Dispensary Method
 Nurse fill a requisition form for delivery drugs at their floors;
 When there is an empty container, the nurse places it in the drug basket;
 Once the procedure is completed the drug basket containing empty
containers and requisition form for floor stock supplies is then sent to the
pharmacy;
 Immediately in the morning, the pharmacy staff fill each container and
dispenses the requested drug;
 Once the basket is completed, it is delivered to the floor via messenger
service; and alternatively a Mobile Dispensary Unit can be utilized:
 It is specially made up of stainless steel .
 60 inches high.
 48 inches wide.
 25 inches deep.
 It is mounted on bottom tyres.
 It is a type of drug distribution that use
individual prescription order system as there
primary means of dispensing of drugs but also
utilize a limited floor stock.
 Those medication which are order, packaged, handle,
administered and charged in multiple of single dose
units used by a particular patient by prescribed route.

the hospital. The main pharmacy is serves the medicines to all
