Drexel Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Drexel" can present its own set of challenges, stemming
from the need to navigate through a multitude of facets associated with the topic. To begin with,
it requires a thorough understanding of Drexel University, encompassing its history, mission,
academic programs, and unique features. Gathering accurate and up-to-date information is
crucial, as the landscape of educational institutions is dynamic.
Next, the essay demands a nuanced approach to addressing why Drexel is the chosen institution
for the writer. This involves delving into personal motivations, career goals, and academic
aspirations, and aligning them with the opportunities provided by Drexel. Expressing these
thoughts eloquently requires a balance between showcasing one's individuality and aligning with
the university's values and culture.
Furthermore, the essay must be structured cohesively, with a well-articulated introduction, body,
and conclusion. Each section should seamlessly flow into the next, creating a narrative that not
only informs but also engages the reader. The challenge lies in maintaining clarity while
addressing diverse aspects, including academic interests, extracurricular activities, and how they
align with Drexel's offerings.
The difficulty is compounded by the need for precision in language and the inclusion of
compelling anecdotes or experiences to bolster the narrative. Striking the right tone – one that
is both professional and personal – is a delicate balancing act.
Finally, the editing process becomes a crucial step. Ensuring that the essay is error-free, concise,
and impactful adds another layer of complexity. Each word must contribute meaningfully, and
unnecessary details should be omitted.
In conclusion, writing a compelling essay on the topic of "Drexel" is a multifaceted task that

skillfully weave personal and academic threads into a narrative that resonates with the
university's ethos. For those seeking assistance with similar writing challenges, a variety of essays

A retail/local advertisement is a little bit different from a business to business. In a
retail/local advertisement, customers are encouraged to purchase items at a certain
location. It usually must do with hours in which a store is open, deals at a certain
time of year, or small celebrations within the brand. Forever 21 is a retailer, and most
likely a local one to a great sum of people. The Black Friday ad, three different

live by one of the Forever 21 locations. Within the ad is also mention of a mystery
shopper scratch off, which could lead to the potential savings on top of the 15, 20,
and 25 percent. Another thing to look at is the very bottom where it states, in only
some store locations. Local advertainments aren t always the same deals from store to
store.
Advertising on a national scale is something much different. In doing so a company
is trying to not only real people in one specific location but countries around the
world. Big brands from making and clothes to phone service and soda will pay to

Similarities Between Fahrenheit 451 And The Pedestrian
In Ray Bradbury s works Fahrenheit 451 and The Pedestrian , both the individual and
the society are affected by dystopian traits, such as brainwashing and implementation
of ideologies, general ignorance throughout the society, and a severe lack of
individuality.
Both societies are affected by brainwashing via extreme amounts of exposure to
government controlled media. In Fahrenheit 45,1 the Parlour , four walls of TV
screens, and Seashells are the main apparatuses for indoctrinating the population.
These high levels exposure render the mind to a numb, idle, puddle. like grey
animals peering out from electric caves, faces with grey colourless eyes, grey tongues,
and grey thoughts ( Fahrenheit 451 ,p.179). In The Pedestrian , televisions are also
the main apparatus for conditioning the public. TV s broadcast the same stupefying

The individual is transformed into a pawn, subject to the will of the government. This
manipulation has a profound impact upon the individual and breaks their psyche. In

The Battle of Okinawa
BATTLE
The Battle of Okinawa was pretty brutal in itself. Soldiers were dying back and
forth; it was the most ghastly corner of hell... Japanese soldiers tactics were very
hostile and had no mercy. The battle took place at one of Japan s islands, Okinawa.
On the ground, it lasted 81 days beginning on April 1, 1945. The 77th Infantry
division was the first division of Americans to land on the Kerama Islands(tiny
islands on the west of Okinawa island). The Naval battle was a gruesome one, also.
Kamikazes sunk many US aircraft carriers and killed many soldiers. We watched
each plunging kamikaze...we groped hopelessly for the thoughts of that other man up
there. (Vice Admiral C.R. Brown, U.S. Navy)
WEAPONS/TECHNOLOGY
The Battle of Okinawa was ...one of the bloodiest battles of the Second World
War... Various technology and tactics were used during the grueling war, from
planes to naval fleets, guns to huge bombs. Various divisions ...were supported by
naval artillery and carrier based aircraft. (http://historywarsweapons.com/battle of
okinawa/) A couple planes, for example. Both the SB2C Helldivers and F4U Corsairs
fighter planes were used in battle. The SB2C Helldiver is a bombing aircraft.
Because it was difficult to handle at low speeds, it was replaced by the SBD Dauntless
. The F4U Corsair saw action in the Korean War as a carrier based fighter aircraft.
Some weapons that the Japanese used were some light tanks and semi automatic
rifles.(on the ground battle).
Service Learning Requirement
Your time is important, and your time is key. Which is why I believe Rowan
College At Burlington County (RCBC) should not make service learning a
requirement to graduate because students won t have enough time, to volunteer. First,
students could lose their jobs for calling out of work too many times to go volunteer.
Also, students could start failing their other classes because they re spending too
much time volunteering for service learning. Last, students will like to spend time
with their families after a long week of classes, and jobs. RCBC should not consider
making service learning a requirement to graduate because students will not have
time to focus on it.

For instance, by making service learning a requirement students can lose their focus
on their main courses by, focusing on student learning volunteering. If you give
students too much work to do they could start to feel like it s too much. For
example, in the article Does Service Learning Really Help? Stephanie Strom state
that during the twenty years service learning was around it had increased the
number of drop outs and low test scores. I believe Strom was just stating that this
program is a waste it only cause more harm to students then benefits for
them. Therefore, Strom quot provides all the information RCBC needs to not make
service learning a requirement.RCBC like millions of schools round the world
should not want their dropout rate to go up, also shouldn t want their test scores to
go down. Clearly, adding service learning that can cause students to fail. They can
lose focus from service learning by volunteering every and, all the other requirements
that come with service learning. Overall, RCBC should not make service learning a
requirement it can cause students to
Renaissance Jousting And Fencing Essay
Renaissance Jousting and fencing John choi pr 1
One of the earliest forms of weapon to weapon combat was jousting and fencing.
Jousting was one of the earliest forms of horseback combat for soldiers, before it was
even a sport, and fencing dates back to the Egyptians as an early fighting style. The
art of jousting involves the use of a lance which was a long pointed spear with a cone
all the way to the base of the handle and fencing required a Rapier, which was a thin
long sword that was more of a jabbing weapon than a slicing weapon. These two
martial arts have been through lots of changes throughout the renaissance. Jousting
was one of the earliest styles of horseback fighting. Jousting was used as a way to

Fencing has always been regarded as more than a sport; it is an art form, an ancient
symbol of power and glory, and a deeply personal, individual form of expression.В
The lance or Pike was a cone like spear that was to be used on a horseback knight
and was used as the leading charge in the cavalry. On the back of the shaft where
pole meets spear there was a guard called a Vamplate to prevent the hand from
sliding into the spear, after the Pike had hit the target. The lance was typically not
used in close range melee due to its tremendous weight and size and the lancers,
would always carry a small sword, or mace for had to hand combat when they were
off of the horse. The Fencing sword or Rapier is a thin long pointed sword that was
mostly used as a jabbing weapon than the traditional slicing weapon. The Rapier
relied on quick thrusts the pierce open spots on ones armor. The Rapier consists of
the blade; hilt and handle like traditional swords except the Rapier had a very thin
blade, with a complex guard that was used to protect the hand from other blades
Organization Strategy Paper
Organization Strategy Research Paper
Organization is a skill that comes very naturally to some. Things must be
organized in order for me to perform well at work and at home. It is a waste of time
and energy searching for something when you need it. There are times that nothing
seems to be where it belongs and I feel like the house is in such a mess that it will
just be easier to go to the store and replace the item that I am searching for. The
problem in my life is with organization and clutter. There are all types of clutter in our

Once you have decided on storage and activities it is time to map out your space.
You can begin by sketching your space out on a piece of paper. There are several
details to take into account when determining where each zone should be located.
Natural habits and preferences will be an indicator or where a certain zone will be.
If you tend to throw your mail on the counter as you walk in the door that may be
an ideal place for a basket to store mail and paperwork. The relationships of the
activities need to be considered. A TV zone and a reading zone should be put at
opposites ends of a room so that people can utilize the space simultaneously. The
configurations and restrictions of the room also need to be taken into account.
When you are setting aside time in your schedule, it is important to estimate how
much time the organization process will take. Most rooms will take one to one
and one half days to complete. Blocking out the time on your calendar will be
required so you can create an effective work schedule. In conclusion, after
researching my problem I realize that I need to develop a plan of action to
organize my home. I will accomplish this by realistically analyzing the time that is
needed and block it out on my calendar. I will establish zones in each room and set
up storage solutions for the supplies needed in each zone. Researching my problem
has helped me to gain an understanding of what is not working and ways to

I couldn t believe it, but it was the Klan blacklist, with my picture on it. I guess I
must have sat there for about an hour holding it, says Moody in her autobiography
Coming of Age in Mississippi. In Moody s response to the blacklist, one pervasive
theme from her memoir becomes evident: though she participated in many of the
same activist movements as her peers, Moody is separated from them by several
things, chief among them being her ability to see the events of the 1960s through a
wide, uncolored perspective (pun intended). Whereas many involved on either side
of the civil rights movement became caught up in its objectives, Moody kept a level

While playing, she looks over her white friend s privates, and, as is explained in
the book, thinks I examined each of them three times, but I didn t see any
differences. I still hadn t found that secret. Even as a child, Moody is bright
enough to question the role of race in her society. In Part 2 Teenage years Moody
continues to push at the boundaries of society post childhood, which lead to her
getting involved in activist causes as a teen. After the wife of a Klan member
mentions the NAACP, Moody asks her mother to tell her more about the
organization. Her mother responds with scorn to the situation, refusing to tell her
daughter about the NAACP and also telling her never to ask any white person
about it either. Nonetheless, Moody asks another adult about the organization and
eventually gets a full five hours of history on the movement. Moody s newfound
knowledge of the NAACP made her more aware of the time in which she was
living; in a sense, gaining a broader world view. She more or less says as much in
her memoir when she writes I couldn t go on pretending I was dumb and innocent,
pretending I didn t know what was going on. At the time, these views set her apart

The Hero s Journey By Wes Moore
Without realizing it initially, each Wes Moore has been greatly affected by the life
events occurring as they grew up because as they matured physically, they also
matured mentally by gaining self knowledge; the same way a hero does throughout
a heroic journey. However, while both have gone through the heroic journey, their
fate was not identical because of poor choices and irreversible mistakes. Wes
Moore, the successful author of his book, has specifically divided his book into 8
chapters, where each shows a year that had a decisive impact for him and Wes.
Similar to his book, the heros journey also consists of 8 parts where the hero goes
through the most important stages of the journey. The correlation between the life
events and the patterns of a heroic journey intertwined because both only point out
the most crucial parts and have the same end results, leaving the characters to go
through each event or stage only as they mature.
To an average pair of eyes, all Wes Moore did was grow from a decent boy to a
mature and respected man, nothing unusual there. However, to a pair of insightful
eyes, Wes Moore growing from childhood to adulthood is the equivalent to the
process of a successful journey. The pattern of a hero s journey correlate to the life
events of Wes Moore, because in each event, the results were identical. The adventure
began in the first chapter when Wes lost his father at such a young age. His call to
his journey was that he had something taken away from
Gandhi s Theory Of The Indian Subcontinent s
Enslavements
In 1906, a young Mohandas Karmachand Gandhi, carried out his earliest deed of
Satyagraha a doctrine to practice passive or nonviolent resistance. He was successful
in standing up against the Transvaal province s government in the Republic of South
Africa. It was only two years later when Gandhi gained access to a letter written by
the renowned Russian author, Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy to the editor of the Free
Hindustan newspaper in South Africa. In this letter, referred to as Letter to a Hindu,
Tolstoy addresses the roots of the Indian subcontinent s enslavements by the British as
well as methods to alleviate it.
Intrigued by the letter, Gandhi wrote to Tolstoy, asking for permission to translate the
letter to Guajarati, in an effort to share Tolstoy s wisdom with the others in the
community. Gandhi continually sought advice from Tolstoy from that point
onwards; the correspondence between the two went on until 1910 when Tolstoy
passed away. The letter profoundly shaped young Gandhi s Satyagraha ideology,
setting a robust basis that Gandhi further develops.
Tolstoy starts each segment of the letter with a quote from one of the four Vedas, the
Bible, Vivekananda, the Hindu Kural, or Krishna. Each quote speaks of the chief
themes addressed in Tolstoy s letter: nonviolent resistance and love. Krishna, for
instance, is the god that personifies love and obliterates obscenity and agony. Born to
institute love, Krishna is the most quoted of the five. Vivekananda is a 19th
The Positive And Negative Aspects Of The Influence Of...
To say brand communities are selective is an understatement itself. They place their
emphasis more on symbolism than substance. Therefore, the importance of branding
is a critical component used by marketers to leverage and lure consumers towards
building a cohesive identity (Solomon et al.,2016). A visible brandidentity, brings
about a set of positive and negative aspects of brand communities for marketers.
These communities have the capacity to resurrect and/or promote the brand. Having
a loyal base has its pros and cons, especially for marketers who need to handle issues
posed, delicately and competently to avoid any damages to the brand s image and
influence. An effective product positioning strategy is heavily relied by brands to
establish their brand position and differentiate itself, producing a strong competitive
advantage. This exclusivity would increase sales and strengthen the long term
position of the brand (Clow and Baack,2014).
2.Branding s Relevance A distinctive brand identity is relevant, differentiated and
well esteemed which influences consumers perception. Brand s respect stems from
establishing a positive connection, resulting in a strong brand equity. This allows
brands to attain consumers loyalty, commercial success, product awareness, power
and value universally (Kotler and Armstrong, 2014). Upkeeping an image consistent
over the years is built upon a set of associative networks which foster strong relations
and satisfaction (Whalley,2010).

the treatment in which Freud suggests that would able to correct the repressed

The Boy Who Never Grew Up I don t ever want to grow up! , has been a famous
quote from the iconic storytelling of Peter Pan since his introduction in 1902 by
Scottish writer James Matthew Barrie. He has been a character the encompasses a
great deal of emotional distress. Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic theory is used to
explore Peter Pan and his inability to take his place in a responsible world. Due to
his lack of love and parental guidance he continues to stay in a childlike state which
is prohibiting his overall ability to grow which has harmful effects when going into
adulthood. The lack of nurturing and modeling prevents Peter from being able to
remove himself from his childlike behaviors to adulthood in a successful manner due
to his lack of exposure to assurances in which he would have been able to receive
from his mother.
Devonian Rocks
Melbourne has a bedrock of Middle Paleozoic age which is included within the
Devonian and Silurian periods (354 441 million years prior). These rocks are
overlain in wide zones which also include much more youthful rocks, and were
generally part of the Tertiary and Quaternary ages (2 65 mya). Rocks of Early
Silurian (441 mya) were discovered to be the most established within the bedrock.
Particular in the outcrops located in the north east around Warrandyte (Anderson
Creek Formation), and on the west side of Melbourne more specifically the
Maribyrnong Valley around Keilor (Springfield Formation). Fossils found within
these developments are very unique. Rocks located east of Keilor and south of
Warrandyte were discovered to be more youthful, with different ages from Late
Silurian (418 mya) in the Melbourne Formation (city region) to Early Devonian (384
mya) at the Humevale Formation (Lilydale).
These Paleozoic rocks are steeply plunging sandstones and siltstones, with a little
event of limestone at Lilydale the Early Devonian Lilydale Limestone. The Silurian

Taking a Look at Muscle Fatigue
Muscle Fatigue Date: 20/5/14
Introduction:
I know that the more times I skip, lactic acid will build up in my legs, from my own
experience this makes you fell horrible. As our bodies perform strenuous exercise,
we begin to breathe faster as we attempt to move more oxygen to our working
muscles. The body prefers to generate most of its energy using aerobic methods,
meaning with oxygen. The cells follow the aerobic process when the blood supplies
enough oxygen to the cells, which is: Glucose+ oxygen Carbon Dioxide+ water+
Energy. But when the blood cannot get the needed oxygen to the cells, it has to get
the energy from the glucose in another way. The cells use the anaerobic pathway; It
does this then by breaking glucose down into lactic acid, Glucose Lactic Acid+
Energy. Lactic acid is released into the muscles when they have used up glucose
stores but still have intense energy needs. Small amounts of lactic acid operate as a
temporary energy source, which helps you avoid fatigue during a workout.
However, a build up of lactic acid during a workout can create burning sensations
in the muscles that can slow down or halt your activity. This is not an effective
energy source for long periods of exercise, so the blood takes lactic acid to the liver
which coverts it back into glucose to be used in the normal aerobic process.
Scientist are always looking into ways to decrease lactic acid build up in elite
athletes so they can perform faster
The Domestic Price Of Silver
China, while under the Qing dynasty and was being ruled by the Manchus, they lost
in the Opium Wars. As the wars led China into financial crisis, corruption led to
various forms of protests and reform movements and eventually to the rise of the
nationalism, which put an end to the last dynasty. One of the causes of the corruption
was the opium trade. There were two most important official concerns about the
trade. According to Harry, one was the damage done to the health and capacity for
work of the people using opium, especially the addicts. The other was the economic
damage (Harry, 5). Most importantly, too much silver was being paid to foreign
merchants for opium, and thus leaving China. The domestic price of silver was
therefore going up. But the price of everyday copper cash remained the same. So
tax payments, which had to be made in silver, were effectively tax increases, causing
much popular resentment and social unrest (Harry, 8). High taxation and corruption
worked only to oppress and worsen the life the poor, which led to various rebellions
and the raise of the peasant that worked against the Qing government. Taiping
Rebellion, one of the history most massive civil war in China in which the rebellions
fought the corrupt Manchus who led the Qing dynasty. There were four main causes
of the Taiping Rebellion: political, economical, social, and cultural events. One of the
major political events that happened was when under the Qing dynasty in the mid
19th century,

Our monitoring solution of choice, PRTG, has widely available and granular
plugins available to monitor the system. This is due in part to Active Directory
being such a commonly implemented system. At the most basic level we ll want to
make sure that the requisite Active Directory services are running and functioning
correctly. Deeper than that we ll have to go to purposeful plugins that can monitor
things like LDAP bind time, number of users, and performance metrics. DNS and
DHCP monitoring is very simple on Windows. Unlike its Unix like counterparts,
the core network services on Windows were designed with a user in mind, and can
extrapolate, interpolate, predict, and interpret. Whether you do or do not have a
monitoring system in place, the suite of services Windows provides are able to

sometimes cryptic error messages make administrating this network services much
less painful. Given their simple daemon based architecture, monitoring with PRTG,

SchillerВґs Aesthetic Philosophy of Human Nature
Schiller takes the position that his age is lacking something, meaning that it is
missing a certain something that is essential for all human beings. In other words,
the part is missing the whole . Friedrich Schiller on the Sixth Letter of his text On
the Aesthetic Education of Man in a Series of Letters gives an example of a culture,
which was not wanting. This culture, the Hellenic Greeks, seemed to manage a
perfect balance between art and wisdom, and their connection to nature, for they
realized art and wisdom were not something of their own that detached them from
nature, but that they were the road itself, which one had to take to find his way
towards nature. Schiller states this differently. For they were wedded [the... Show

Schiller asserts that beauty is an aesthetic unity of thought and feeling, of reason
and emotion. It Is by the attainment of this unity that Schiller believes enables
human nature to be realized and fulfilled. That Beauty may lead to truth, meaning
one can become the ideal through joining the logical and the emotional. However,
when truth is perceived, feeling may follow thought, or thought may follow
feeling.(189) When beauty is understood, thought is unified with feeling. He states
the need for this unity much beautifully than just a philosopher could The reality of
things is the work of the things; the appearance of things is the work of man and a
nature which delights in appearance no longer takes pleasure in what it receives,
but in what it does (125). At first, the second half did not make much sense, but
upon reflection one may see that Schiller is saying we should not just revel in what
the senses take in, but use our reason to look deeper, beyond the surface. Schiller
however does not believe this is a realistic goal or even an attainable one, as we
discussed in class. Schiller needs to make some sort of distinction between the
potential Man and the goal of Man, as a manifestation or visualization of that
potential or archetype. The impossibility of ever attaining the ideal calls for the
identification of potential and goal, which shows that they cancel each other out:
unrealizable potential is not,

relationships. While taking one step at a time into his great expectations, he

Once Pip wins, Estella gives him the ability to kiss her on the cheek. He does so,
leaving him affected for the rest of his life. Now in the process of becoming a
gentleman, Pip claims that Estella was the inspiration for everything he has done
in the past and talks about his love for her. The unqualified truth is that, when I
loved Estella with the love of a man, I loved her simply because I found her
irresistible. (Dickens 214). When Pip heard Estella was back at the Satis House
from a trip to Paris, he went to see her and Miss. Havisham. In Miss. Havisham s
room, he saw a woman that he realized was Estella. He said that she was a very
beautiful lady and developed very well. On a walk through the garden, Pip tried to
recall the moments they had together to Estella but unfortunately she didn t
remember. She then confessed to Pip, That I have no heart if that has anything to do
with my memory...I have no softness there, no sympathy sentiment nonsense.
(Dickens 219). That should have been an alarm for Pip to show that Estella was
unable to be loved, unable to love. Estella is telling Pip that she will never love him
or anyone. Nonetheless, because he found her desirable, he was blinded by his love
for her. I got through some jargon to the effect that I took the liberty of doubting that.
That I knew better. That there could be no such beauty without it. (Dickens
The Samsung Brand Essay
The Samsung Brand
According to the global brand scoreboard of 2004 from Interbrand, Samsung, the
Korean based electronics brand, has boosted its profile and being listed as 21st
valuable brands in the world. Its brand value surged by 16% to 12.5 billion US
dollars compared to the figure in 2003 which is 10.8 billion US dollar. (Simon, 2004)
It becomes the worldГ‚ s leading brand in electronics and digital industry. This
achievement is closely related to its sponsorship strategies. Samsung associate its
name to the Г‚ TOPГ‚ plan, which is Г‚ The Olympic PartnerГ‚ plan. It is a plan

SamsungГ‚ s involvement with the Olympic movement began as a local sponsor for
the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games. Then it became the TOP sponsor in the wireless
telecommunications equipment category for the Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter
Games, Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games and
Athens 2004 Olympic Games. This status as a global partner in the wireless
telecommunications equipment category will be continuing in the Torino 2006
Olympic Winter Games and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Samsung have agreed to
pay the huge amount for corporate sponsorship because they recognize the vital
importance of sports marketing on their bottom line. The TOP plan helped Samsung
increase its brand awareness and enhance market position considerably. Compared to
the results of the survey held before the Sydney Olympic Games, the amount of
consumers that became aware that Samsung Electronics was one of the 9 sponsors
of the Games approximately tripled. Unaided awareness of SamsungГ‚ s Г‚ Olympic

The Performance And Reward Management System
Performance ratings is part of the performance and reward management system that
used to support organisations personnel decisions in performance appraisal,
promotion, compensation, and employee development (Yun, Donahus, Dudley,
McFarland, 2005). Accurate performance ratings are fundamental to the success or
failure of the performance managementprocess, therefore, raters have been suggested
to be fully trained to minimise potential errors in performance ratings (Biron,
Farndale, Paauwe, 2011). Several rater training programs have been developed to
enhance the quality of performance ratings, such as rater error training and frame of
reference training (MacDonald Sulsky, 2009). Nevertheless, not all rater training
programs have been equally successful, many researchers have demonstrated the
effectiveness of frame of reference training in increasing rating accuracy (Woehr,
1994; Keown Gerrard Sulsky, 2001; Roch, Woehr, Mishra, Kieszczynska, 2012). The
following will assess the effectiveness of frame of reference training in increasing
rating quality through comprehensive examination of its validity, accuracy and
reliability.
Explanation for Frame of Reference Training
Early approaches to rater training were focused mainly on reducing raters common
errors, (MacDonald Sulsky, 2009). However, rater error training has been proven
ineffective in actual application. Researchers have found that rater error training may
teach raters to use inappropriate response
The Alternative Food Movement In North America
The alternative food movement in North America, manifesting largely through
farmers markets, encourages people to buy local, eat organic, and to support local
farmers, however these spaces are rarely reflective of the diverse population of
farmers and buyers in the city (Gibb Wittman, 2013). Moving from a personal to a
political narrative, localisation is presented as the way to address social injustices
and environmental degradation, working against our current destructive global agri
food system (Allen 2004,2010). Advocating for individuals to buy local organic food
is seen as voting for healthier more authentic lives while making positive social and
environmental change (Alkon Agyeman, 2011:2). Consequently, the concept of local
food and just food are viewed interchangeably by certain actors in the food movement
through the increasing integration of the word justice into their webpages, non profit
names, and programs (DuPuis, Harrison, Goodman, 2011). However, I argue that the
conflation of local foodas just by alternative food movements in North America
reinforces racial inequities and excludes those most harmed by the current food
system, particularly low income communities and communities of color. As such,
this paper proposes the concept of reflexive localism as proposed by DuPuis,
Harrison, Goodman (2011) as an approach to address this process of exclusion.
Alternative food movements that promote localisation of food risk re enforcing racial
Analysis Of John Fitzgerald Kennedy s The Great Gatsby...
In 1957, the first and only United States President won a Pulitzer Prize for
biography; it was titled Profiles in Courage. This same President would say in a
speech given in Frankfurt, West Germany, For time and the world do not stand still.
Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past, or the present, are
certain to miss the future (Kennedy, 1963). This President was a visionary, who had
creative and innovative foresight, that included the unthinkable at the time, that man
would travel in space and land on the moon. That President was John Fitzgerald
Kennedy (Michael, 1995). Kennedy strongly believed that no nation which
expects to be the leader of other nations can expect to stay behind in this race for
space (Kennedy 1962). His aspiration challenged the complacency and demands of
the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) to go beyond its
current performance, to search, create and surprise the American people (Davila,
Epstein, Shelton, 2006 p 257). Kennedy never saw his creative visionary idea
become reality, because he was assassinated in 1963. But, in 1969, Astronaut Neil
Armstrong stepped from Apollo 11 onto the surface of the moon and spoke these
words one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind , words that still resonate
Kennedy s innovative idea and vision to land a man on the moon, and Armstrong
words still causes American s to beam with USA pride (Jones, 1995). Not only did
man walk on the moon, in
Reflection On Teaching And Learning
According to Dr. Patricia Alexander teaching and learning are interrelated. Teachers
and students learn at the same time. As Dr. Alexander mentions in the video that
actions and characteristics of one affect the other. For example, if a teacher in a
classroom is not preview prepare for class, students will lose interest in the class.
Students have to perceive that the teacher is mentally and intellectually well
prepare in order to show some interest in the class. One of my teacher s actions
affected me when I was in middle school. I remember that when I was in 7th grade
one of my teachers used to say to his students that they are very dumb to learn. I as
student felt like I really was dumb. Even though, I tried to learn everything he taught
us, I did not retain any information. As a result, my grades dropped a lot, so I refused
to go to that school until my mother moved me to another school. In the other hand, if
there are students that do not show any interest in learning, teachers performance is
affected. For example, there is anything a teacher can do when a student does not
really want to learn. Some teachers use a variety of strategies without any result of
learning, but is does not mean that the teacher is not well prepare; it is more about
what the student want. Dr. Alexander also mentions in the video that the factors that
determine success are the same for teachers and students. I believed that it is
connected because teachers and students are in constant

Similarities Between Cupid And Psyche And Gilgamesh
Individualities of Humanity In the wilderness, crimson roses gleam with beauty,
while mimosa pudica become hermits in the shadows. The roses display strong love
and independent heroism, as opposed to the mimosa pudica represent themselves as
timidly or cowardly. Opposites show immense differences and have nothing similar
except others around the distinctions. In The Epic of Gilgamesh and Cupid and
Psyche, the heroic Gilgamesh and Psyche project contradicting personalities and
motivations that coincide with the elegant and introvert plants. When they begin their
journeys to accomplishment, their own actions and thoughts become parallel to

In The Hero, Becker says that people are narcissists and feel the obligation to be
useful or important. Gilgamesh related to the feeling of importance and thought of
an unforgettable figure as Becker says, The hope and belief is that the things that
man creates in society are of lasting worth and meaning, that they outshine death
and decay, that man and his products count (2). Gilgamesh closely related to this
quote because his important wish to have immortality which was granted by the
tales he brought to his people in Uruk. He felt that being well known would help
increase people s minds about his presence in the past and help influence them.
Unlike Gilgamesh, Psyche related to the feeling of wanting to be loved and have
someone to care about her. In Becker s story, he said that even in childhood days,
children feel the need to have a significance and unashamed about what he needs and
wants most (1). Psyche was simply like a child because her selfish and immature
thoughts showed her demands for attention. She not only acted like a childish
person, but also a narcissist because Psyche wanted a variety of things from the
emotion love. As Becker concluded his story, he explained that there were different
characteristics and not only one specific quality in heroes. Varieties of heroes have

In fact there will never was, nor will there ever be, a time that would surpass the
horror humanity faced during the outbreak. We were put through a trial. Some
passed and some failed. The worst traits of humanity were exposed during the
outbreak. But at the same time, the best traits shone so brightly that the darkness
of humanity dissipated. It was the survivors that fought to get our lives back who
had these traits. Many credit me with bringing together so many people, with
different ideals, to fight back or bringing out the best in people because I inspired
them. That was not true. It was thanks to true humanity. The humanity I always
knew existed. It s just that it was always suppressed by the darkness of humanity. If
you said to me a year before the outbreak that this would happen, I would send you
to a mental asylum. I guess the joke is on me, so to speak. I wasn t, what some
would say, a confident person. I would just follow others and just do my job. The
outbreak changed all that. It changed everyone, especially me. Some people got

Scout is part of the common people, whereas the Ewells are part of their own
society, consisting only of themselves. They were allowed to do most of what they
wanted and whenever they wanted because everyone has given up on trying to

The Emergence Of Nationalism In The Nineteenth Century
Introduction: Nationalism is the most potent factor conducting in the political
ground. In the nineteenth century it was almost universally accepted as a injunction
for religion. Though in the middle age religious view had prominent influence but in
the first half of 16th century more emphasis was given to geographic and national
unity and field of national sovereign state was established. At that time strong central
national government was established in England, French, Spain. French revolution
has been considered the first emergence of nationalism. On the other hand
Renaissance and Protestant reformation movement significant role in the rise of
European nationalism. Machiavelli believed that the uniformity of tradition, language
and law are the main element of nationalism (Ayesuddin,1976, in bengali). Besides
these it is also necessary to understand clearly the implication of the trend of
nationalist movement. The recorded history of Bangladesh is found from around the
first century of the Christian era. Until the coming of muslims in the early 13th

India Company. It had been seen a seat of political influence in the history of south

the single area where most of the unpleasant surprises tend to come. Once you give

Lord Of The Flies Thesis Analysis
To Be or Not To Be: Violence Among Young Boys
Thesis statement: Though people live in a civilized society, they possess the capacity
for violence. Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, discusses this theme with
two main characters who metamorph from civil human beings to heathens, and who
distance themselves from the order of society. To begin with, Roger progressively
transforms from a mysterious boy to a barbarian over the course of civilization to

several boys, and he gets unruly walking into the littluns sandcastle purposely after
relieving his signal fire duties. Afterwards, Roger continues bothering the kids,
more particularly Henry as he stoop[s], pick[s] up a stone, and thr[ows] it at Henry

by having the idea of harming a mere, young boy. However, civilization embeds a
part of him, and it prevents him from hitting Henry literally. For example, he pick[s]

the island gradually loses its authority and order. Consequently, these boys influence
one another dramatically by their thirst to hunt or simple goal of survival. In this

The Emotional And Physical Burdens During The Vietnam
War
Jimmy Cross: the Emotional and Physical Burdens in the Vietnam War
War has fascinated since the beginning of time for what they reveal about the human
condition in its worst squalor as in its greatness. Maybe Vietnam is best seen through
a shattered helicopter windshield. Chickenhawk is one bloody, painfully honest, and
courageous book , recognizes Martin Cruz Smith. Chickenhawk is Robert Mason s
narrative of personal experience which deals chronologically with his training in
Vietnam. Through this description of war, Mason distinguishes the physical part of
war and the psychological phase. He also demonstrates that the expressive aspect
controls the physical. Consequently, this indication has remained intact. Tim O Brien
in his fictional story The Things They Carried, voices the idea that the psychological
burdens overshadow the physical pain that the soldiers must carry: They carried all
the emotional baggage of men who might die. Grief, terror, love, longing these were
intangibles, but the intangibles had their own mass and specific gravity, they had
tangible weight (O Brien 926). O Brien claims that horror, longing, responsibility, and
uncertainty that the soldiers experience outweigh the physical agony that they must
resist to survive, loads that are lightened only a little by the willing to return home.
The weight of mental burden that probably weighs the most on the hearts of the men
is fear. In the forest of Vietnam, young soldiers are forced to carry
Racial Inequalities
Inequalities Between Whites and African Americans In order for us to work
towards a more racially equal society, we need to know what type of social policies
contribute to racial inequalities. Then, we need to either change those social policies
or get rid of them completely. Rothstein focuses mainly on housing policies, which
segregated African Americans from whites. Those social policies did not only
constraint African Americans from buying a house in neighborhoods predominantly
white, but it limited their accessibility to other important resources and services such
as employment and education. This is very similar to today s racial inequalities.
According to Rohstein, ... St. Louis was segregated by interlocking and racially
explicit public policies of zoning, public housing, and suburban finance, and by
publicly endorsed segregation policies of the real estate, banking, and insurance
industries (30). Real estate agents and banks contributed to this segregation between
whites and African Americans. As soon as African Americans moved to a
predominantly white neighborhood, whites would pack their things and leave.
According to Rothstein, Once [a black family] moved in and was visible, real estate
agents solicited nearby homeowners to sell quickly before an imminent influx of
black buyers caused their homes to lose value (25). This is one of the techniques that
real estate agents used to maintain whites and African Americans segregated. Real

Not to say police shootings are always unjust, but they are almost always
preventable, to some degree. But what I m worried about the most is militarizing
the police. I know this may stray off topic a bit but as one of the designer/creators
of this project, I don t want this to be used casually to harass citizens just for
something like a speeding ticket. The point of this is to stop a bullet and blind the
attacker so the cop can mase, taze or subdue a dangerous criminal. My hope is that
cops will be responsible when it comes to this piece of equipment. The biggest
shortcoming is the shortcoming of others who are not responsible enough to use this
shield in the right

Which is why I believe Rowan College At Burlington County (RCBC) should not make service learning a requirement to graduate because students won t have enough time, to volunteer. The art of jousting involves the use of a lance which was a long pointed spear with a cone all the way to the base of the handle and fencing required a Rapier, which was a thin long sword that was more of a jabbing weapon than a slicing weapon. Fencing has always been regarded as more than a sport; it is an art form, an ancient symbol of power and glory, and a deeply personal, individual form of expression.В The lance or Pike was a cone like spear that was to be used on a horseback knight and was used as the leading charge in the cavalry. On the back of the shaft where pole meets spear there was a guard called a Vamplate to prevent the hand from sliding into the spear, after the Pike had hit the target. The lance was typically not used in close range melee due to its tremendous weight and size and the lancers, would always carry a small sword, or mace for had to hand combat when they were off of the horse. There are several details to take into account when determining where each zone should be located. Natural habits and preferences will be an indicator or where a certain zone will be. If you tend to throw your mail on the counter as you walk in the door that may be an ideal place for a basket to store mail and paperwork. The relationships of the activities need to be considered. A TV zone and a reading zone should be put at opposites ends of a room so that people can utilize the space simultaneously. The configurations and restrictions of the room also need to be taken into account. When you are setting aside time in your schedule, it is important to estimate how much time the organization process will take. Most rooms will take one to one and one half days to complete. Blocking out the time on your calendar will be required so you can create an effective work schedule. In conclusion, after researching my problem I realize that I need to develop a plan of action to organize my home. I guess I must have sat there for about an hour holding it, says Moody in her autobiography Coming of Age in Mississippi. In Moody s response to the blacklist, one pervasive theme from her memoir becomes evident: though she participated in many of the same activist movements as her peers, Moody is separated from them by several things, chief among them being her ability to see the events of the 1960s through a wide, uncolored perspective (pun intended). Whereas many involved on either side of the civil rights movement became caught up in its objectives, Moody kept a level head and saw things as honestly as she could, even if it meant thinking negatively of her... He was successful in standing up against the Transvaal province s government in the Republic of South Africa. It was only two years later when Gandhi gained access to a letter written by the renowned Russian author, Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy to the editor of the Free Hindustan newspaper in South Africa. In this letter, referred to as Letter to a Hindu, Tolstoy addresses the roots of the Indian subcontinent s enslavements by the British as well as methods to alleviate it. Intrigued by the letter, Gandhi wrote to Tolstoy, asking for permission to translate the letter to Guajarati, in an effort to share Tolstoy s wisdom with the others in the community. Gandhi continually sought advice from Tolstoy from that point onwards; the correspondence between the two went on until 1910 when Tolstoy passed away. The letter profoundly shaped young Gandhi s Satyagraha ideology, setting a robust basis that Gandhi further develops. Tolstoy starts each segment of the letter with a quote from one of the four Vedas, the Bible, Vivekananda, the Hindu Kural, or Krishna. Each quote speaks of the chief themes addressed in Tolstoy s letter: nonviolent resistance and love. Krishna, for instance, is the god that personifies love and obliterates obscenity and agony. Therefore, the importance of branding is a critical component used by marketers to leverage and lure consumers towards building a cohesive identity (Solomon et al.,2016). A visible brandidentity, brings about a set of positive and negative aspects of brand communities for marketers. These communities have the capacity to resurrect and/or promote the brand. Having a loyal base has its pros and cons, especially for marketers who need to handle issues posed, delicately and competently to avoid any damages to the brand s image and influence. An effective product positioning strategy is heavily relied by brands to establish their brand position and differentiate itself, producing a strong competitive advantage. This exclusivity would increase sales and strengthen the long term position of the brand (Clow and Baack,2014). 2.Branding s Relevance A distinctive brand identity is relevant, differentiated and well esteemed which influences consumers perception. Brand s respect stems from establishing a positive connection, resulting in a strong brand equity. This allows brands to attain consumers loyalty, commercial success, product awareness, power and value universally (Kotler and Armstrong, 2014). Upkeeping an image consistent over the years is built upon a set of associative networks which foster strong relations and satisfaction (Whalley,2010). A

Taking a Look at Muscle Fatigue Muscle Fatigue Date: 20/5/14 Introduction: I know that the more times I skip, lactic acid will build up in my legs, from my own experience this makes you fell horrible. As our bodies perform strenuous exercise, we begin to breathe faster as we attempt to move more oxygen to our working muscles. The body prefers to generate most of its energy using aerobic methods, meaning with oxygen. The cells follow the aerobic process when the blood supplies enough oxygen to the cells, which is: Glucose+ oxygen Carbon Dioxide+ water+ Energy. But when the blood cannot get the needed oxygen to the cells, it has to get the energy from the glucose in another way. The cells use the anaerobic pathway; It does this then by breaking glucose down into lactic acid, Glucose Lactic Acid+ Energy. Lactic acid is released into the muscles when they have used up glucose stores but still have intense energy needs. Small amounts of lactic acid operate as a temporary energy source, which helps you avoid fatigue during a workout. However, a build up of lactic acid during a workout can create burning sensations in the muscles that can slow down or halt your activity. This is not an effective energy source for long periods of exercise, so the blood takes lactic acid to the liver which coverts it back into glucose to be used in the normal aerobic process. Scientist are always looking into ways to decrease lactic acid build up in elite athletes so they can perform faster

As the wars led China into financial crisis, corruption led to various forms of protests and reform movements and eventually to the rise of the nationalism, which put an end to the last dynasty. One of the causes of the corruption was the opium trade. There were two most important official concerns about the trade. According to Harry, one was the damage done to the health and capacity for work of the people using opium, especially the addicts. The other was the economic damage (Harry, 5). Most importantly, too much silver was being paid to foreign merchants for opium, and thus leaving China. The domestic price of silver was therefore going up. But the price of everyday copper cash remained the same. So tax payments, which had to be made in silver, were effectively tax increases, causing much popular resentment and social unrest (Harry, 8). High taxation and corruption worked only to oppress and worsen the life the poor, which led to various rebellions and the raise of the peasant that worked against the Qing government. In other words, the part is missing the whole . Friedrich Schiller on the Sixth Letter of his text On the Aesthetic Education of Man in a Series of Letters gives an example of a culture, which was not wanting. This culture, the Hellenic Greeks, seemed to manage a perfect balance between art and wisdom, and their connection to nature, for they realized art and wisdom were not something of their own that detached them from nature, but that they were the road itself, which one had to take to find his way towards nature. However, when truth is perceived, feeling may follow thought, or thought may follow feeling.(189) When beauty is understood, thought is unified with feeling. He states the need for this unity much beautifully than just a philosopher could The reality of things is the work of the things; the appearance of things is the work of man and a nature which delights in appearance no longer takes pleasure in what it receives, but in what it does (125). At first, the second half did not make much sense, but upon reflection one may see that Schiller is saying we should not just revel in what the senses take in, but use our reason to look deeper, beyond the surface. Schiller however does not believe this is a realistic goal or even an attainable one, as we discussed in class. Schiller needs to make some sort of distinction between the potential Man and the goal of Man, as a manifestation or visualization of that potential or archetype. The impossibility of ever attaining the ideal calls for the identification of potential and goal, which shows that they cancel each other out: unrealizable potential is not,

When Pip heard Estella was back at the Satis House from a trip to Paris, he went to see her and Miss. Havisham. In Miss. Havisham s room, he saw a woman that he realized was Estella. Accurate performance ratings are fundamental to the success or failure of the performance managementprocess, therefore, raters have been suggested to be fully trained to minimise potential errors in performance ratings (Biron, Farndale, Paauwe, 2011). Several rater training programs have been developed to enhance the quality of performance ratings, such as rater error training and frame of reference training (MacDonald Sulsky, 2009). The Alternative Food Movement In North America The alternative food movement in North America, manifesting largely through farmers markets, encourages people to buy local, eat organic, and to support local farmers, however these spaces are rarely reflective of the diverse population of farmers and buyers in the city (Gibb Wittman, 2013). Moving from a personal to a political narrative, localisation is presented as the way to address social injustices and environmental degradation, working against our current destructive global agri food system (Allen 2004,2010). Advocating for individuals to buy local organic food is seen as voting for healthier more authentic lives while making positive social and environmental change (Alkon Agyeman, 2011:2). Consequently, the concept of local food and just food are viewed interchangeably by certain actors in the food movement through the increasing integration of the word justice into their webpages, non profit names, and programs (DuPuis, Harrison, Goodman, 2011). However, I argue that the conflation of local foodas just by alternative food movements in North America reinforces racial inequities and excludes those most harmed by the current food system, particularly low income communities and communities of color. As such, this paper proposes the concept of reflexive localism as proposed by DuPuis, Harrison, Goodman (2011) as an approach to address this process of exclusion. This President was a visionary, who had creative and innovative foresight, that included the unthinkable at the time, that man would travel in space and land on the moon. That President was John Fitzgerald Kennedy (Michael, 1995). Kennedy strongly believed that no nation which expects to be the leader of other nations can expect to stay behind in this race for space (Kennedy 1962). Gilgamesh closely related to this quote because his important wish to have immortality which was granted by the tales he brought to his people in Uruk. He felt that being well known would help increase people s minds about his presence in the past and help influence them. Unlike Gilgamesh, Psyche related to the feeling of wanting to be loved and have someone to care about her. In Becker s story, he said that even in childhood days, children feel the need to have a significance and unashamed about what he needs and wants most (1). Psyche was simply like a child because her selfish and immature thoughts showed her demands for attention. She not only acted like a childish person, but also a narcissist because Psyche wanted a variety of things from the emotion love. As Becker concluded his story, he explained that there were different characteristics and not only one specific quality in heroes. Varieties of heroes have their own unique

There was problem about fleeing from infested areas. Everywhere was infested. There was no where anyone could go without encountering the walking plague. You know that phrase War is Hell ? The worst traits of humanity were exposed during the outbreak. But at the same time, the best traits shone so brightly that the darkness of humanity dissipated. It was the survivors that fought to get our lives back who had these traits. Many credit me with bringing together so many people, with different ideals, to fight back or bringing out the best in people because I inspired them. That was not true. It was thanks to true humanity. The humanity I always knew existed. It s just that it was always suppressed by the darkness of humanity. If you said to me a year before the outbreak that this would happen, I would send you to a mental asylum. I guess the joke is on me, so to speak. I wasn t, what some would say, a confident person. I would just follow others and just do my job. The outbreak changed all that. It changed everyone, especially me. Some people got stronger due to the outbreak. Some became weaker. They were allowed to do most of what they wanted and whenever they wanted because everyone has given up on trying to force people like the Ewells into a new environment. The Finches are part of the common folk so the Finches are above the Cunninghams and Ewells on the social class hierarchy. Don t get me wrong, I m not saying that end users are bad, but from my experience, this is the single area where most of the unpleasant surprises tend to come. Once you give a PC or a laptop to a user, you have created a potentially dangerous situation, at least in small part. What problems am I talking about? For one, practically every PC and laptop that we issue to our users comes equipped with removable media drives, such as CD ROMs/DVD ROMs, and USB thumb drive slots. While we are certainly able to implement policies preventing many types of applications from being installed, that doesn t mitigate the risk of the user bringing infected multimedia content from home and spreading it throughout your network. In the end, you can only do so much, in a traditional computing model, to secure your end users computing environment. What we need is a new way of doing things. Virtualize the desktop! This will allow you to maintain the user desktop images completely separate from the physical

Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, discusses this theme with two main characters who metamorph from civil human beings to heathens, and who distance themselves from the order of society. To begin with, Roger progressively transforms from a mysterious boy to a barbarian over the course of civilization to regression. Roger avoids social contact, initially, until refinement unravels among several boys, and he gets unruly walking into the littluns sandcastle purposely after relieving his signal fire duties. Afterwards, Roger continues bothering the kids, more particularly Henry as he stoop[s], pick[s] up a stone, and thr[ows] it at Henry threw it miss (Golding 62). Roger gives in to the lack of civilization on the island by having the idea of harming a mere, young boy. However, civilization embeds a part of him, and it prevents him from hitting Henry literally. For example, he pick[s] up a stone (Golding 62) with the intent of using it to hurt a person since over time, the island gradually loses its authority and order. Consequently, these boys influence one another dramatically by their thirst to hunt or simple goal of survival. In this case, Jack, a power hungry tyrant, barbarically impacts Roger and his viewpoints. However, at home, society reminds Roger such actions are not acceptable, so he threw it to

The Emotional And Physical Burdens During The Vietnam War Jimmy Cross: the Emotional and Physical Burdens in the Vietnam War War has fascinated since the beginning of time for what they reveal about the human condition in its worst squalor as in its greatness. Maybe Vietnam is best seen through a shattered helicopter windshield. Chickenhawk is one bloody, painfully honest, and courageous book , recognizes Martin Cruz Smith. Chickenhawk is Robert Mason s narrative of personal experience which deals chronologically with his training in Vietnam. Through this description of war, Mason distinguishes the physical part of war and the psychological phase. He also demonstrates that the expressive aspect controls the physical. Tim O Brien in his fictional story The Things They Carried, voices the idea that the psychological burdens overshadow the physical pain that the soldiers must carry: They carried all the emotional baggage of men who might die. Grief, terror, love, longing these were intangibles, but the intangibles had their own mass and specific gravity, they had tangible weight (O Brien 926). O Brien claims that horror, longing, responsibility, and uncertainty that the soldiers experience outweigh the physical agony that they must resist to survive, loads that are lightened only a little by the willing to return home. The weight of mental burden that probably weighs the most on the hearts of the men is fear. In the forest of Vietnam, young soldiers are forced to carry

Racial Inequalities Inequalities Between Whites and African Americans In order for us to work towards a more racially equal society, we need to know what type of social policies contribute to racial inequalities. Then, we need to either change those social policies or get rid of them completely. Rothstein focuses mainly on housing policies, which segregated African Americans from whites. Those social policies did not only constraint African Americans from buying a house in neighborhoods predominantly white, but it limited their accessibility to other important resources and services such as employment and education. This is very similar to today s racial inequalities. According to Rohstein, ... St. Louis was segregated by interlocking and racially explicit public policies of zoning, public housing, and suburban finance, and by publicly endorsed segregation policies of the real estate, banking, and insurance industries (30). Real estate agents and banks contributed to this segregation between whites and African Americans. As soon as African Americans moved to a predominantly white neighborhood, whites would pack their things and leave. According to Rothstein, Once [a black family] moved in and was visible, real estate agents solicited nearby homeowners to sell quickly before an imminent influx of black buyers caused their homes to lose value (25). This is one of the techniques that real estate agents used to maintain whites and African Americans segregated. Real estate agents and mortgage
