Shakespeare s Hamlet
American playwright Maxwell Anderson once stated in his essay, Off Broadway,
that, the story of a play must be a conflict, and specifically, a conflict between the
forces of good and evil within a single person. The most memorable characters in
literature have dealt with struggles both internal and external, in terms of either
heroic or cowardly means. In William Shakespeare s play Hamlet, the title character
uses either procrastination or impulse to deal with conflicts resulting in devastating
consequences. The protagonist s urge to act upon impulse and the resulting deadly

After a plane with many young boys crashed on a deserted island with no food nor
necessary objects, no one knew the thing they had to fear most would be what they
become. William Golding s Lord of the Flies comments on major struggles that
society faces during life. Ralph faces the pressure of others to be a good leader from
his friends while also craving the feeling of hurting and killing something, though
once he finally does he feels guilt. Ralph struggles between being the strong leader
the boys need and abandoning all order to do what he wants; which reflects the
struggle mankind faces between accepting society s norms and following
individuality.
Ralph is pressured to be a strong leader by his friend Piggy numerous times

Gerrymandering is a political technique where the majority party in a district or state,
set up the boundaries of each district for state and federal governing houses to benefit
them. In the United States, districts in each state are redrawn when the census is
taken, but the redrawing is voted on by the members of the government in each state,
