Crafting an essay on the topic of "Abortion: Against" is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor.
This subject is highly sensitive and emotionally charged, involving complex ethical, moral, and
legal considerations. Writing an essay against abortion requires careful navigation through a
multitude of perspectives, ranging from religious beliefs and cultural values to women's rights
and the autonomy of one's body.
Addressing this topic involves delving into the intricacies of the abortion debate, exploring the
diverse opinions held by individuals and societies worldwide. Moreover, it necessitates a deep

abortion. To present a compelling argument against abortion, one must conduct extensive
research, critically analyze data, and engage with a broad spectrum of sources.
Additionally, a writer must approach the subject with empathy and respect, recognizing the

Imprecatory Psalm 35 Essay
Throughout the Book of Psalms there are almost one hundred verses with
imprecations; however, Psalms 35, 55, 59, 69, 79, 109, and 137 are commonly
known as the Imprecatory Psalms. Imprecation means the invocation of judgment,
calamity, or curse uttered against one s enemies, or the enemies of God. Imprecatory
Psalmscontain words that appear at face‐value to curseenemies, which become
problematic with Christians who strive to love rather than curse their enemies as
taught by the Lord Jesus Christ that is recorded in Matthew 5:39, 44; Luke 23:24;
Romans 12:13; 1 Corinthians 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:15. This paper intends to
examine specific Imprecatory Psalms and the teachings of Christ concerning His
follower s response toward their enemies to determine whether Christians should
pray the Imprecatory Psalms. Psalm 35 was written by David with intense emotion
and urgency. While the problem that provokes such a prayer is not fully identified,
there is sufficient ambiguity to classify it as an individual lament. Since the piety of
David is notable, and his nature is given to upholding the things of God, we must
start our analysis of imprecatory Psalms with the understanding that his emotional
prayers calling for the vengeance of God should not be classified as sinful,
especially since they come only after his enemies repeated attacks. Thus, it is
imperative that we examine the particulars of each imprecatory Psalm to gain a full
understanding of each circumstance and
Children Of Men Essay
Children of Men Themes of Postmodernism
One of the biggest themes in this film is the theme of infertility. Infertility, while
literally present in the film, stands as a metaphor for the end or as Hoberman
(2006) says, No future . This is interesting because we would expect the end of the
world to be due to a zombie apocalypse, global warming, or a giant meteor hitting the
Earth rather than the unexplainable end of fertility. The filmbegins with everyone
mourning the tragic loss of Baby Diego , who stands as a reminder of the 18 years
of infertility. People who have never met Baby Diego sob as they watch from their
personal television screens at work. Theo finds himself saddened by the loss, but
not because of his connection to Baby Diego, but because he lost a miracle child of
his own several years before. We can see the heartbreak in his eyes as he ponders the
loss of his own child and the dystopian society that he faces every day.
When he leaves work we see him riding on a train. The train looks rather old
considering that it is supposed to be the year 2027. This theme of post
industrialization is another aspect of postmodernism. ... Show more content on

Firing from both sides does not cease for a long time. People are bleeding,
screaming, and fighting back as best as they can. People on both sides of the battle
are dying all over. It is not until the small cry of a baby is heard that the firing halts.
The baby brings a sense of hope to each and every person in that scene as they
momentarily forget about the battle at hand. As soon as Theo and Kee get out of the
line of fire with the precious baby, the firing commences and a large portion of the
building is blown up, sending rubble far and wide. Only in this type of film would the
firing immediately continue after such a miraculous sight. The baby that brought
them great hope for a small moment is quickly forgotten as the scene returns back to
Invasion of Afghanistan Essay
Invasion of Afghanistan
Even before the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre in New York on
September 11th 2001, Afghanistan was probably the most isolated country in the
world. Only three other states recognised its rulers, who in the mid 1990s had
swept across the country to impose a very strict and distinctive form of Islamic law
upon the Afghan people, ending nearly 20 years of civil war in the 90% or so of the
country which they control. Osama Bin Laden, an exiled Saudi Arabian who is the
USA s prime suspect for the World Trade Centre atrocity and other terrorist attacks in
the 1990s, had based his Al Qa ida organisation in Afghanistan since 1996. The
Taliban said that Bin Laden was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Afghan people have suffered greatly under Taliban rule, especially women and
ethnic and religious minority groups, and they deserve a different and better
government. In the past few years the Taliban have made it very difficult for the UN
and other aid agencies to deliver humanitarian relief in Afghanistan, so in the
Medium term an invasion would improve matters.
Even if the Taliban were judged to be equally guilty with Bin Laden, the Afghan
people are not; the Taliban conquered the country with the help of Bin Laden and
thousands of other foreign, mostly Arab, fighters, and their rule is heavily
oppressive. The invasion of Afghanistan is still likely in the long run to lead to a
prolonged power struggle or civil war between different ethnic groups or local
warlords, as before 1996. This will lead to many innocent lives being lost in the
crossfire, prevent humanitarian aid that is desperately needed after three years of
drought reaching millions of starving Afghans, and create a terrible refugee crisis.
Invasion was the only way to try to capture or destroy Bin Laden and his terrorist
organisation. Bombing on its own can prepare the way for a ground invasion,
guaranteeing air supremacy and disrupting the enemy s command and control
systems, but
Child Adolescent Population And Developmentally

Introduction This paper will attempt to compare two systematic review articles on the
topic of restraints and seclusion (S R) and its implications within the child adolescent
population and developmentally impaired persons. The articles should present
evidence to address claims on reduction while the results of the studies provide
evidence on rationales to these practices. Aggressive behaviors by both of these
populations in inpatient psychiatric facilities at some point become a safety issue in
terms of assault and injury for both. Both reviews focus on incidences of seclusion
and restraints and ways to reduce usage. The articles aim to answer what the current
state of evidence is supporting restraints and reduction methods. Nonetheless,
interventions are needed to reduce restriction and restraint utilization in children and
persons with developmental disabilities (Menon, Raghavendra, Bernard 2010)
Phenomenon of Interest The article Initiatives to reduce the use of seclusion and
restraints on people with developmental disabilities: A systematic review and
quantitative synthesis, analyzes the use of R S within the developmental disabled.
According to Gaskin, Mcvilly McGillivray (2013) there is insufficient evidence that
explores these practices among this population. There is also not enough evidence for
aggression management measures and training in de escalation procedures. The
review assesses studies that introduce interventions and the effects of R S
The Relationship Between Warm Colors and Positive Mood
This research is important because every day we have to make choices that include
choosing a color when for example we decide what shade of makeup to use, what
color of clothes to buy or decide what color to paint a wall. Even it has been proved
that people often associate their mood with a specific color. Some frequently
responses when a person is feeling sad is to describe it as feeling blue or when a
person fall in love is common to hear that now this person view the world through
rose colored glasses. Other frequently expressions are to describe a person s jealousy
as to be greenwith envy, or describe a child s innocence as to be pure as the snow .
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of color with mood using a... Show

Author David Simmons studied color effects more generally in his book, Color and
emotion: New directions in color studies. Simmons conducted a lot of experiments
trying to prove that color can enhance positive moods. In one of his experiments he
asked 56 undergraduate psychology students to paint a white wall with a color that
made them to feel positive. The results indicated that yellow, orange and red were
picked as the most positive color of the 9 color samples in total.
Jacob and Suess (1975) disagree with the general theory that warm colors are more
appealing and tend to enhance positive mood. They found that participants shown
a more positive mood towards cool colors rather than warm colors. In his article,
Effects of four psychological primary colors on anxiety state; Perceptual and motor
skills, states that previous studies may have overlooked the effects of colors on
standard pencil and paper measures of anxiety. He investigated the effects of
primary colors such as: red, yellow, blue and green and the level of anxiety of the
participants. The researcher administered the state scale of the State Trait Anxiety
Inventory to 40 participants. After reviewing the results he found that colors red and
yellow were associated with high levels of anxiety by the participants. On the other
hand, color green was described as calming and associated with low levels of anxiety
by the participants.
The wild Palms If Forget Thee, Jerusalem by...
If a story is in you, it has to come out (William Faulkner, The wild Palms [if I forget
thee, Jerusalem]). An American writer in American and southern literature, Faulkner
was a spellbinding author known for experimental style with perfect attention to
usage and rhythm. Faulkner s works were highly influenced by own personal interest,
history and personal outlook on faith. Being intensely rooted in the old America, the
America in which was molded by the First World War.

The interest that dealt with violence is portrayed through the novels Sanctuary and
Requiem For A Nun. Both related by its violence, in Requiem For A Nun a
complete act of violence takes form other than in the Sanctuary it is meant for a
provoking shocking response, both violence is stressed not through sensation but
because it has opposite modes of response. In both novels acts of murder is
portrayed through events of adventure, crime and punishment, linked with social and
moral legal aspects. Faulkner expressed the love of mysterious murder through a
short story, A Rose For Emily. The grim protagonist struggles to keep tradition in the
change from the old to the new South. The dusty life of Emily s holds murder, odd
acts, and suicide, which realizes a mysterious curiosity to the reader. As a traditional
moralist Faulkner s one principle is engraved together in all thirteen book, the
significance that belongs to great myths.
That principle is the southern social ethical tradition which Faulkner possesses
effortlessly. Being a traditional man with modern south soaked in, it is not strange
that the worlds created through the novels are specifically a series or related myths
build around the conflict of either traditionalism and the modern world. To illustrate

Battle Of Bataan
The Battle of Bataan was a significant turning point battle in the war for the
Americans and the Japanese. The battle was fought from January 7, 1942 to April 9,
1942. The Allies, who were commanded by General Douglas MacArthur, fought the
Axis powers who were commanded by Lieutenant General Masaharu Homma. The
Allied powers started out strong with 79,500 armed men while the Axis powers
started out with 75,000 men. After the invasion of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese
continued to attack the US owned island of the Philippines. Macarthur started to
prepare the US to defend the island of Luzon, near Bataan in the Philippines.
Specifically, he wanted the US to defend Legaspi, which was located in southern
Luzon. As the Japanese started to invade,

that didn t stop him. Finley cared so much about Erin and wanted to know what
happened to her after she left Bellmont without a trace. He cared so much that he

The Safety For Illegal Aliens
Safety for Illegal Aliens From January to August 2014 over 200 sanctuary cities

criminal charges. Of those over 8,000 released, 1,800 of them were charged with
crimes such as rape and child sex abuse ( Sanctuary City Crime Wave in 43 States).
Although there is no clear definition of sanctuary city each of these cities generally

allowed to go to aid the federal government on immigrationmatters. Sanctuary cities
should be outlawed because they go against federal law, the release of criminals are

resisting ICE. Something needs to be done in order to prevent these cities and their
politicians from resisting the federal law and ICE. Not only are these cities
resisting federal law, they are also endangering their own citizens who live there as
well. On July 1, 2015 in San Francisco, CA, a well known sanctuary city, Kathryn

illegal alien Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez. Before his arrest after killing Steinle,
Lopez Sanchez had been convicted of seven felonies and been deported five times

prison following his fifth deportation for re entering the country, but was

Problems In New York City Essay
New York City and its suburbs are world renowned for many things. However,
when it comes to bicycle integration with public transportation, New York City lies
in the shadow of other cities such as Portland and San Francisco. In these cities, all
public buses have bike racks, trains have bicycle storage, cyclists have access to
secure parking at metro stations, and safe bikeways provide cyclists with a route to
metro stations. All four of these characteristics are needed to foster a bicycle friendly
transit system. However, while New York Cityexcels in certain areas of this criteria,
it lacks bike racks on buses and secure bike parking at subway stations. These
problems also persist in New York City s suburbs; however, the suburbs fall even
farther behind the city due to their lack of safe bikeways. With careful planning,
these problems can be solved. To fix the lack of secure parking at downtown metro
stations, I suggest implementing bike lockers at large parking garages in the city.
The lack of secure parking at suburban metro stations can be resolved with more
bike lockers at city stations that serve suburban commuter routes. For the shortage
of bike racks on city and suburban buses, the solution is to simply install more bike
racks on these buses. Finally, the lack of safe bikeways in the suburbs can be
resolved by building more bus stops closer to residential areas, which will reduce the
need for cyclists to travel long distances on dangerous main roads.

Seizure disorders, according to the Mayo Clinic (2015), affect approximately 1 in

condition called epilepsy, a neurological disorder of the central nervous system. It
can affect anyone regardless of age, but is more common during early childhood and
after age 60. Given the number of people that seizuredisorders, such as epilepsy,

including some of the causes, symptoms, and treatments available.
A seizure is a disruption of the electrical activity between neurons in the brain. The

Types of seizures vary in intensity and effect. Some seizures are hardly noticeable,
while others incapacitate the patient. Mild seizures, which can last for a few
seconds, do not involve a loss of consciousness, but may change emotions or the
way things look, feel, smell, taste, or sound. They may also involve involuntary
twitching of an extremity, a leg or arm, and dizziness, a tingling sensation, or
flashing lights. More severe seizures can last for a few minutes and involve a loss
of awareness or consciousness. Other symptoms include repetitive movement, such
as hand rubbing, chewing, blinking, staring, or walking in circles. With tonic clonic
seizures, also known as grand mal seizures, the body initially stiffens briefly, then
begins to convulse. The teeth will clench sometimes biting the tongue, causing
bleeding from the mouth. There may also be increased salivation causing foaming
at the mouth. Additionally, a loss of control of bladder or bowel functions may
occur. An epilepsy patient will typically have the same type of seizure, whether mild
or severe, so symptoms will be similar from episode to

Walter Camp As The Father Of American Football
Walter Camp is known as the Father of American Football because he founded
American football in 1869. Throughout his time Camp developed rule changes that
cast the foundation of modern American Football (encyclopedia.com). The sport
started to rise and many people wanted to play or watch football. But the results that
associated with playing the game is the players being tempted to use steroids.
Steroids retain protein like the hormone testosterone to help build muscle, which is
why football players are tempted in using them for faster results in gaining weight
and muscle in short amounts of time.
Throughout the history of football, steroid use in American football has plagued both
the professional and collegiate divisions of the sport. The widespread use of
performance enhancing drugs such as steroids has gone largely unnoticed and
untreated. Although the National Football League has implemented drug tests to help
discourage steroid use, the National Collegiate Athletic Association has been less
successful in its efforts. The most common type of steroid is anabolic. Anabolic
steroids retain protein like the hormone testosterone to help build muscle. Because
football players are expected to gain weight and muscle in short amounts of time,
using steroids is tempting for fast results. Anabolic steroids were introduced in the
1930s when they were first synthesized. They were originally used as a hormone
supplement for people who did not produce enough testosterone. After

Alzheimer s
Alzheimer s is a terminal neural degenerative disease that causes multiple
malfunctions that relate to the brain such as memory loss, personality changes,

Themes Of Love And Hate
Love and hate are both an occurring theme in both Romeo and Juliet by
Shakespeare and Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. In this essay I will be comparing
the similarities and differences of the way that the two texts portray the feeling of
love and hate. The essay will be divided into different topics that I will be
comparing, these following topics will be: death, passion, betrayal and one more.
Romeo and Juliet was a play that was written by the famous English poet, playwright
William Shakespearewhose work is recognised globally today. Romeo and Juliet was
written in 1594 during the Elizabethan era in which the renaissance occurred which
saw a cultural movement in thing such as politics, science, religion, etc. Frankenstein
was a novel that was written by Mary Shelly. Frankenstein was published during
1818 a later period than Romeo and Juliet; this was an era of revolution in which the
novel does portray revolutionary ideas such as the use of science by Frankenstein to
create the supernatural creature. Furthermore, ideas of gothic themes are also
presented within Frankenstein as the novel was created during a gothic era.
Death occurs in both Romeo and Juliet and Frankenstein but both present different
emotions in terms of love and hate. In the prologue of Romeo and Juliet,
Shakespeare introduces the audience to the feud of both families as from forth the
fatal loins of these two foes . Shakespeare s use of the word fatal suggests that death
is going to occur due to

The paranormal experiences start to manifest once the spirits attach themselves to
the house, making the setting crucial to the plot. Along with the house being
crucial, it was important for Carol Ann to be taken away in the first instance,
otherwise it would be likely the family would have up and left the home for their
safety. The disappearance of Carol Ann into the home creates that desperation to
stick around despite the paranormal experiences. The tension continues to increase
as the family hires different specialists into their home to save their daughter. It is
not until the end of the movie that it is revealed why the house is really haunted in
the first place. It is revealed that their home was built on a graveyard that had been
removed the only catch was that the tombstones were removed, but the bodies
stayed put. This detail is imperative to story as it gives another aspect to the setting
and why the house was haunted. If this were any other house on the block, or in a
different city, the paranormal experiences would never happen. The focus on the
house and its actions allow it to develop into its own character in the story and
develop alongside the family
Work and Life Balance
How To Find That Elusive Balance Between Work and Life
Balance is beautiful. Miyoko Ohno, Japanese bridge designer
Article by Leo Babauta
I have a close friend named Norm who is a great photographer and a great person in
general ... recently he was telling me that all he does is work.
That might sound familiar to some of you I ve certainly been there at different points
in my life, although these days I have to say that I ve found a pretty good balance
between all the important things in my life, including work, family, and other things I
m interested in.
Norm asked me to write a post about work life balance, because although I think
Norm is pretty happy with his life, he s interested in expanding his life beyond work.

Finding That Balance
Once you ve created space in your life for the things you love, it s just a matter of
finding the right balance between them. You could have a life filled with all the
things you love doing, but it could still be almost all work. While there s certainly
nothing wrong with that if you love your work and it doesn t have negative
consequences (on your health or family relationships, for example), for many people
it s better to have other things balancing out their lives.
Why is a balance between several things that you love better than just one thing that
you love? Well, there are a number of reasons that would depend on your situation.
For one thing, if you have an office job you might not be getting outdoors enough, or
getting enough exercise, and your health might suffer. Another reason is that you
might have family and/or friends and if you work all the time you re neglecting
them and those relationships will suffer. You might also get lonely if you work all
the time. Another major problem is burnout working all the time (or doing any
activity all the time) can lead to stress and fatigue, and could make that activity less
enjoyable.
Variety is a good thingit keeps life interesting. So mix things up a bit. Here are some
ideas for doing that: * Schedule time blocks. This is good for those who use their
calendar a lot or can stick to schedules well. Schedule chunks of time throughout your
week
Different Blood Types
The difference in blood types was discovered in the 1900s. Blood transfusions can
only be completed after matching blood types. Everyone does not carry the same
blood type although blood type O is the most common in the United States (US).
The four blood types we know of are type A, B, O and AB. The ABO blood typeis
determined genetically. Each bloodtype can be identified by the absence or presence
of agglutinogens. With that being said, blood type O is a universal blood donor.
Anyone with an O blood type is not a universal receiver. Those with blood type O
can only receive transfusions from like blood types. Antigens on the red blood cells
have antibodies that fight against other blood types from entering the cell. Which is
why an individual s blood type is based upon the antigens he or she has. This would
mean persons with neither A nor B antigens on their red blood cells, has both Anti A
and Anti B antibodies, which means they have type O blood.
Later, researchers found out that there is another antigen, on red blood cells, Rh
factor. When the Rh factor is not present a person is identified as Rh and likewise
if Rh is present, a person is Rh+. Thus, a person with Antigen A, and has the Rh
factor is then labeled as blood type A+ (A positive). It is important to match a
donor s blood and a recipient s blood before a transfusion to make sure the blood is
compatible. If the recipient s blood does not match the donor s, the recipient s blood
will clot and the recipient

The appraisal is for job performance and a gateway to bring up personal issues
outside of the appraisal documentation. Consequently an employee may become
flustered when the conversation turns personal rather than work related.
Employees may feel that they are being judged on their personal life rather than
their performance and organizational related issues. There may be personal issues
brought up if they were directly affecting the employee s performance and
adherence to organizational processes and procedures. According to Sabir (2016)
the appraisal of the employee should be focused on work activities and the
organizational goals. This can include, but not limited to promotions, problems, a
means to reset the employee and help them develop, stay on track and deliver other

should be a location that is located in the organization and arranged in a formal
setting. The appraisals are for individuals and not to be done in a group setting. All
material should be laid out with copies for the employee for them to reference as
the sequence of events goes on. This is not a party or social gathering so the
atmosphere must be professional in all aspects. It is essential that the employee is
well aware of the appraisal date and time. The time should be within normal work
hours with an estimated length it will take. Advance notice allows
The Beatles Influence On Music And Religion
The last major technological breakthrough that Frith discusses is the invention of
magnetic tape. Magnetic tape was such a huge leap in recording technology,
because of the control it now gave artists within the studio. This new tape allowed
for artists to splice, dub, cut, and recording multiple track on a tape. This gave
artists complete control over their pieces of art. No longer were they restricted by
what they could perform live. They could produce pieces of musicthat had the
purpose of not being able to be recreated live, because it is how the artist wanted to
represent their music. Music started to be recorded in a much more intentional and
methodical way (Frith 271 272). He asserts By the end of the 1960s the studio was,

The Beatles level of success enabled their music to attain major influence throughout
the United States. Because of this, their music was distributed to youth all over the
United States. Through the technology that the band took advantage of during the
recording process, they were able to accurately express their ideas and opinions. The
lyrics of Within You Without You demonstrate The Beatles expressing opinions on
spirituality and religion that specifically discuss thinking for oneself. While the youth
were being introduced to The Beatles music, they were simultaneously gaining a new
independence from their families. With America s youth having such a strong
connection to popular music, The Beatles beliefs about spirituality influenced them.
Although these children had grown up in a country where participation in organized

The Pros And Cons Of Motivational Interviewing
Changing is something that someone has to want to do, if there is no motivation
things will stay the same. The first step to change is knowing and accepting the
wrong that has been done and trying to figure out a way to change. There are
numerous of practices that are used to help an offender bring their mistake to the
light. These types of methods are called Evidence Based Practices and are used to
help both the offender and probation officer learn to communicate on a different
level. Evidence based practices are cognitive behavioral training, vocational education
and training programs and treatment oriented intensive supervision program. They
are used to reintegrate offender s back into the community successfully. The type of
evidence based practice that I am going to talk about is motivational interviewing,
the pro and cons and if it helps the offenders learn from their mistakes and if it is
going to help in the future.
Motivational Interviewing is to me is someone using whether business or personal
experiences to relate and motivate those on probation. The biggest step in this is
education first on what needs to be hashed out. Second is what positive steps the
individual should take or the officer willing to point out in the rehabilitation process.
Most importantly honesty is a must. And open door can never close and motivation
cannot be forced. Through education and field work this form or communication can
be utilized and thrive in a society. According to scholars
Why Is Charlemagne Important
Charlemagne
Charlemagne was a historically important figure from the feudal age. At the time of
his birth, circa 742 AD, his father Pepin was king of the Franks. When Pepin died,
he left his kingdom to both of his sons, Charles and Carloman, who decided to split
up the land. However, after three years, Carloman died and Charles was unanimously
elected King of the Franks. (Einhard, 4).
Charlemagne made it a point to be crowned by the Pope, signifying that the church
was above the king. This was a complete twist from history in that most kings were
above the church and therefore religion was not as important. On December 25th,
800 AD. Charlemagne was crowned The Holy Roman Emperor. He added Roman
to the title because his main goal was to reinforce Roman philosophy and ideology
instead of feudalism. His reign covered much of western Europe until he died in 814
AD. Before his death he called Louis the Pious, his only living son, and crowned him
king of his empire. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

consumers, opened the doors to his retail store in 1998, two years after he

pluses and minuses, he says. For one thing, eBay margins are lower because of
competition. But, as he points out, he s able to unload things that might never sell in
his retail store. This means he can be more flexible with trade ins, expanding his
Disease And Corruption In Raymond Chandler s The Big
Sleep
In a world delineated through images of disease and corruption the use of a hero
becomes all the more necessary. In Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep, the narrator
associates the protagonist, Philip Marlowe, with a knight. In more ways than one,
Chandler establishes that Marlowe has a strict code of conduct synonymous to the
rules of chivalry. For example, he resists the temptations of lust whenever
Sternwood s daughters attempt to seduce him, displaying a certain medieval like
ideal of courtly love; like how he explains to Vivian, [k]issing is nice, but your father
didn t hire me to sleep with you, his job is to extract information in order to fulfill his
ultimate goal, that is, of finding the truth (Chandler 151). Moreover, this metaphorical

Regan died, he relays to Vivian that he cannot save her sister from her mental

Since Marlowe failed to save Carmen once again, he compromises his chivalric code
a second time so that she could find treatment, but more importantly, so that the
General would never find out. Sparing the General of what could be potentially
devastating news for him, reinforces the idea of how Chandler s theme is dismantled
by the detectives emotions. Marlowe displays the ultimate act of dishonesty, which is
chivalry, by withholding information the General has asked for. Marlowe s corruption

Meritocracy Of My Democracy Essay
A democratic meritocracy
My ideal country would be a democratic meritocracy. In a meritocracy, one s rewards
are dependent on how much one works. This means that there is a lot of incentive to
work hard in this country. Now to the interesting part, the democracy. I believe in a
pure democracy, rather than a representative democracy. Ancient Greece and
Switzerland, are both pure democracy s. Direct democracy is like, but distinct from,
representative democracy, in which people vote for representatives who then enact
policy initiatives.
Depending on the system in use, direct democracy might entail passing executive
decisions, the use of sortation, making laws, directly electing or dismissing officials,
and conducting trials. Two leading forms of direct democracy are participatory
democracy and deliberative democracy.
Semi direct democracies in which representatives administer day to day governance,
but the citizens remain the sovereign, allow for three forms of popular action:
referendum (plebiscite), initiative, and recall. The first two forms referendums and
initiatives are examples of direct legislation.
Compulsory referendum subjects the legislation drafted by political elites to a
binding popular vote. This is the most common form of direct legislation. Popular
referendum empowers citizens to make a petition ... Show more content on

Casey At Bat Analysis
In the poem Casey at Bat and story David and Goliath, a comparison of David and
Casey shows differences and similarities. Here is how they are both alike. Casey
and David are both alike because they both had a battle and they felt like they were
going to win that battle. I know this because in the articles it said that the people
knew that Casey was going to hit the ball and if the people believe that means that
Casey would believe. It also said in one of the articles that David felt like he was
going to win because he had Godon his side. So if David believed that he was going
to win because of God and Casey believed he was going to win because of the
people cheering for him that means that they both have a reason to feel like they are...

In Casey up to Bat his battle was to hit the ball and he struck out. In David and
Goliath David s battle was to kill Goliath and he did. If one struck out and the other
killed a giant that means that one lost their battle and the other didn t. Another
way I think they are different is because Casey boasted and David did not. In
Casey up to bat it said that Casey said that pitch isn t my style. In David and
Goliath it said that David said that he was going to win because God was on his
side. This proves that Casey boasted and David did not because if you watch
something go by you think that it s not good enough then that is boasting because
not everything is going to be perfect. David did not boast because he had a reason to
think that he was going to win and he didn t act like he was all that. The last reason
why I think they are different is because David was judged in a bad way and Casey
was judged in a good way. In David and Goliath it said that David s brothers called
him a brat. Casey was judged in a good way because in Casey up to bat it said that
everyone thought that he was going to hit. If you get called a brat that is offensive
so that would be a bad judgement. If everyone believes that you are going to hit the
baseball that would be a good judgement because people trust you.In the poem

Supernatural Elements In Shakespeare s Macbeth
Powerful Influences: Supernatural Elements in Macbeth How might one s power be
altered if influenced by a mystical power? In William Shakespeare s Macbeth,
unearthly presences can control an individual s perspective on authority. Firstly, the
support of a supernatural premonition will augment one s desire for power. Secondly,
the intervention of sinister prophecies changes an individual s perspective on
authority. Finally, God s divine will impact one s view on a supposedly corrupt
sovereignty. As such, the presence of supernaturalelements in Macbetheffect an

desire for power can be enhanced. Throughout this play, Macbeth relies on the witches

I go, and it is done; the bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell That

Unlike his previous uncertainty, Macbeth has resolved to kill King Duncan as the
greed for power overcomes the guilt he feels. Macbeth fears that his courage will
wither away, but the bell rings and he assures himself that the murder is as good as
done. The bell symbolizes the beginning of Macbeth s pursuit for power; however,
it signals the end of the reign of King Duncan. Macbeth s evil crime marks the
change in his view of power as he now sees it as tangible object he can obtain unlike
before where it was completely out of his reach as he was not heir to the throne. By
succumbing to the supernatural temptations, Macbeth follows a path where he can
obtain the most sovereignty. Secondly, the veracity behind the supernatural elements

Essay On The Mexican American War
What is the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo of 1848 and how did it affect the US and
Mexico
Introduction
Stuck between 1846 and 1848, the US and Mexico (two neighbors) went to battle,
which was a crucial affair for the two countries, thus massive renovation of the
region. The way was essential in the generation of a new identity for the people.
Following the end of the war, Mexico lost approximately half of its territory relating
to the present American Southwest from Texas to California. The war was vital in
enabling the United States to become a continental power in the context of North
America.
Background Information The hostilities between Mexico and the United States began
in 1846 prior to its continuation until 1847. According to the historical accounts,
Mexico did claim the Nueces River as its northeastern boarder. On the other hand, the
US claimed the Rio Grande River (McCaffrey, 1994). The troops from Mexico and
the US met at the Rio Grande on April 25, 1846 prior to the Mexican army firing at
the troops of the USA. This was the onset of the Mexican American War. The
Mexican American War associates with various struggles relating to land, legal

production together to reduce the operation cost and grow the speed of marketing
response. Then, the big issue for them is broad brand, the old world need to do a lot
on marketing research and create their more famous brand by market segment. The
last is how to deal with the contradiction between tradition and quality. I think the best
choice is joint venture or outsourcing. The old world players can cooperate with local
companies in marketing section, or outsource to them completely. This method for
the old world could not only avoid the weakness of marketing but also continue to
focus on the tradition.
In this case, I can see that whatever the advantages are, companies should continue
improving their skills and strategies to adapt the requirements from customers and
market. Like new world wine player, the companies need to focus on research on
marketing firstly, and then make distinct policy to various levels of consumers. At the
same time, the new entrant has to own their unique way to
Hepatic Flexure
In my discussion, I have chosen to discuss the right upper quadrant of the body. In
this quadrant, you will find part of the pancreas, liver, right kidney and, a portion
of the colon better known as a hepatic flexure. You will also find the gallbladder
and duodenum which is short for the beginning portion of the small intestine. Later,
I will go on to present a hypothetical situation listing symptoms related to a disease
in the right upper quadrant. In this portion of my discussion let me give you a
scenario. A patient comes to the ER with right upper quadrant pain and appears pale.
The patient is complaining of pyrexia, abnormal stool and was vomiting upon arrival.
Upon closer examination, the patient was diagnosed with a form of gallbladder
Analysis Of The Film The Tale Of The White Serpent
Ever since watching Hayao Miyazaki s film, Spirited Away , I was enamoured with
the art style aesthetics, smooth animation and storytelling. His work in Studio Ghibli
had played a major part in my desire to work in animation and to create artistic and
compelling stories. But it s not just me he has influenced and inspired, and it s in this
essay that I will discuss how this illustrious individual has influenced and placed his
mark in the animation world.
Miyazaki had always had an interest in drawing in his youth. Though his fascination
with animation had started during his high school years when he first watched the
feature length anime film, The Tale of the White Serpent . And after joining a
children s literature club in college, his interest only grew. It was in 1963 after
completing his degrees, that Miyazaki decided to pursue animation as a career and
joined Toei Animation. There, he learned the basic fundamentals of animation and
met up with his future collaborators, associates and even his future wife.
He started off drawing key frames in the animations he worked on, making sure that
the figures moved and transitioned smoothly. His skill and determination in creating
such free flow work had impressed his higher ups, and he was soon moved up from
being an in between artist, to becoming heavily involved with the Animators Union.
That s where he would eventually work alongside many other forward thinking and
progressive animators and help create Isao Takahatas
The decision to pursue masters in engineering
management...
The decision to pursue masters in engineering management has not happened
suddenly. Over the past 5 years, several aspects of my studies and work built the
passion and interest in the field.
I enjoyed my engineering education in general and did fairly well. However, I
particularly excelled in courses that dealt with management, communications and
humanities. The following graph shows the overall picture.
After my undergraduate studies, I decided to gain expertise in management but I
also did not want to lose my technology edge as I loved both disciplines. I got offers
from Accenture (Fortune 500) and Wipro (Top 4 IT companies in India) in my
campus itself (offer letters enclosed). However, as both were purely technical jobs, I
rejected and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Decline Of Biodiversity In Australia
Biodiversity is the variety of plant and animal life in the world and as such is an
important aspect of all human life. Nature provides food, and ways of preventing
diseases. Overall, it makes Earth a livable place for all life. It s been estimated that
there are around thirty million species on earth but only around 1.7 million are
identified. The issue with biodiversityis that it is rapidly declining in many parts of
the world and once the biodiversity in an area is wiped out, it is basically impossible
to revive. There are a couple of reasons as to why there is a steady decline in
biodiversity. Some of the ways include habitat loss, spread of diseases or invasive
species, and climate change. One way the rate at which biodiversity decreases... Show

Australia is considered a mega diversity nation, meaning that Australia has a very
large portion of the Earth s biodiversity compared to other nations. Even though it
holds a large portion of the biodiversity, it also has had the largest decline in
biodiversity compared to any other country. The Australian Government recognizes
the issues presented by biodiversity loss in their country and has acts in place in order
to make improvements. Acts such as implementing the Australian Biodiversity
Conservation Strategy 2010 2030, which had been reviewed in 2015. Their strategy
includes enlisting the help of the majority of their people by mainstreaming the issue,
reducing the threats to biodiversity and implementing intense monitoring. This is one
country where the government understands the importance of biodiversity and are
taking action against the decline but although the australian government has
programs in place, they don t seem to be making very much progress. According to
an article focused entirely on Australia s progress in biodiversity conservation,
Australia has barely made any progress in actually reducing the growing loss of
biodiversity there. The country itself has a greater amount of biodiversity compared
to other countries and doesn t have the pressures of population but has made very
little progress in conserving it. There s at least 46 other countries that have better and

How I Changed My Life
Humans are amazing beings. We as humans are capable of doing great things.
Unfortunately many people are satisfied with being average, and not
accomplishing much in their life. Many people are convinced that they can t be
great or can t achieve greatness in their life. However I believe that anyone can
change his or her life for the better and obtain a successful and fruitful life. In this
essay I am going to talk about how I changed my life from an overweight teen with
no ambition to a relatively fit adult with a passion. It all started ever since I was a
little boy, about 12 years old. I used to eat a lot of food; you might even say I was
addicted to eating. I would eat no matter what. When I was sad I would eat, when I
was happy I would eat. Basically my emotional mind state would be dependent on
eating food. With that surplus of food, there was something else that made my
physical state even worse. I was extremely lazy and unmotivated. I had no
ambition; I would just sit around all day playing video games. So you could
imagine what happened to me with this huge surplus of food and lack of activity. I
was extremely overweight, I weighed 247 lbs.( 40% body fat) at the age of 14.
This took a toll on me mentally and physically. For example, anytime that I would
go to the mall with my friends, I would suffer a lot. I would see them trying on
clothes and buying new clothes, while these clothes would barley fit me. Also many
people would make fun of me. Due to my obesity I
Multicultural Excellence
1 Within the four components of Multicultural Excellence, I have experienced a
greater expansion of my awareness in the discrimination of women in the education
system. During my high school education, none of the history classes I took
included in their curriculum a chapter on Title IX, and why it was added. In doing
my Title IX research project, I became aware that in our recent history, before 1972,
that there were quotas set in place, limiting the number of female students in a
University. I am glad that legislation has passed removing quotas, but I also became
aware that women are currently still a minority within the STEM majors. I believe
this is due to our social construct here in America.

This concept can be found on page 67 of our textbook. Individualistic cultures place
the importance on the individual and competing with each other. Collectivistic
cultures place importance on the group s needs, and conforming to take the place
within the group. In understanding this concept, I then begin to understand the
worldviews of other people. This also plays an important role on how the family is
structures. If I have a client in the future who has a collectivistic culture, I need to
remain aware, and respect this, and work to develop a therapeutic plan that holds to
their values, and alleviates their stress, without projecting my own individualistic
thoughts onto the client. In this way, I can provide support in the way that they need it.
A3.1 In the film, Let s Get Real, I watched as a child acted as an ally for a child
who recently immigrated from Iran. While the other children were teasing him, in
a language he did not understand very well, one child decided to stand up, and in
doing so created a friend, and provided support for a child who really needed it.
Later, the child reported how good it felt to have a friend, and how he was able to
learn English through this friendship. It has helped provide me insight on the
injustices on how people in the Big 8 of Diversities Culture group, who don t speak
the dominant language, are poorly

Biomedical Science Personal Statement
Science excites and leads to discovery. During high school, I went through a
traumatic operation, where I was in my last year doing GCSES and this experience
gave me valuable understandings. I went under a CT scanner and diagnosed with a
tumour in my stomach, which the doctors had to remove. This was a rare case and
with the help of scientific discovery I was able to live. This experience made me
appreciate healthcare sciencemuch more. I am in awe of how medical advances have
helped shaped the future of some people s lives today. Being in charge of making
people s health better, and looking for new cures for diseases has interested me in
biomedical science.

My wish to help people, and improve their lives originates from my nurturing, caring
personality. My interest in biomedical science has been a calculated choice, by
considering my life experiences.
My dedication and love towards science reflected in my grades for the Access to
HE course in combined science. The Access course included biology, chemistry
maths, and physics. Biology and chemistry provide analytic learning and knowledge
of the human body, preparing me for biomedical science at university. Maths and
physics are essential for problem solving, which are essential skills for a career in
biomedical science and any healthcare profession. The course also boosted my skills
in self improvement and creative thinking.
As some of my units within the Access course included coursework and exams I
liked being assessed this way. I felt I worked a lot better with this balance of
assessment, which the biomedical science degree has.
During spare time, I love engaging in good books and documentaries on human
anatomy for e.g. (Atlas of human anatomy by Frank H Netter) and microbiology e.g.

Persuasive Essay On Immigration Law
Every year, hundreds of thousands of immigrants travel legal and illegal, from
around the world, come into the United States. The destination that attract some
individuals or group to leave their home are for better economic opportunities, higher
standards of living, and freedom. Immigration has been the defining characteristic of
America long before the country even began. It s important to remind ourselves of
our rich history of where it all started. We all came from different places of the world
to create this multicultural groups of people that is in the United Statesin the 21st
century. While Immigrationpolicies have been perfected over the decades, the Trumps
administration attempts to abolish those laws that have been in place by prioritizing
on the value of immigrants, prohibit the travel of Muslim countries from entering the
United States and end a government program which thousands of young immigrants
can face deportation.
A proposed change in immigration law announced by president the Trump
administration would have a critical impact in the way possible immigrants are
selected and become citizens. No longer would America be a place for people that
had the desire to come for equal opportunity. Instead, America would largely focus on
the skilled, higher earning and English speaking immigrates. Trump states that this
change will benefit struggling America families by putting their needs first and
Americas needs first. This bill propose will include a limit on

All Souls Friday Soup Kitchen
My community service experience at All Souls Friday Soup Kitchen taught me the
impoverished population of New York City and myself. The volunteer work pushed
me to better myself in several areas. Serving the diners helped me expand my social
skills with fellow workers and customers by forcing me to communicate with others.
Also, setting up and deconstructing the dining room helped grow my management
skills by having me order where the plates, mugs, etc. should be placed. Most
importantly, working at the kitchen helped humanize the poor population of New
York City for me. Often on the subway and on the sidewalk, I try my hardest to
avoid the homeless man or woman begging for money, acting like they didn t exist.
Gratefully, my experience at
Struggle Of Family And War
Struggle of Family and War
Our family life was pretty good. My husband Anthony would go to work and the
kids played. But that didn t last for long. I had to pay taxes for things like sugar
and documents and if that didn t put me into debt then there was the tea act and
that angered us all because we already paid tax and now tea! Even though it is way
less of tax I could be a trick. We don t even get Representation so why are we
paying these taxes! Thankfully we have the Sons of Liberty to show Britain to back
off and we formed a unity with the colonies called the Committees of
Correspondence . But even that did not last. Shortly after, Britain banned the
Committees of Correspondence and what affected me most was that they forced us
to buy the tea and if we didn t they would close the Boston harbor.
My husband says, we don t need to pay for the tea we can wait for others to pay for
the tea and then get the thing we want. But that is not what I do first of all I need
my tea, and second I feel like I should help the other people to pay for the tea. You
thought this was it? Well it s not, there was then the Townshend act which let british
soldiers live in out house and take all of our things. This just got my family into debt,
deep debt.
Today my family still is in debt and I still can t pay it off and now when my two
little girls want something I have to say no, but they don t cry or throw a fit they
just frown and look outside. They re smart little kids and I
Summary Of The Pigman Book Report
The pigman
In the book the pigman there are two main characters. There is a boy named john
and a girl named lorraine. They both don t have the greatest family and they are not
even mortified about it but they are close friends and go through everything together.
There is a older guy that has the nickname the pigman because he collects a bunch of
fake pigs in a room and he is the complete opposite of antagonistic. And john and
lorraine have a couple of friends over and they come up with an idea to get more
money for beer and other stuff. They have a game where they call a random number
and they try to stay on the phone with them as long as they can. They end up calling

pignatti started getting involved and he put on lorraines skates and was skating back
and forth of the hall ways. John ended up skating up the stairs and mr. pinatti
followed him up. As he was going up he had a heart attack and they called the
ambulance. They would visit him in the hospital because they didn t want to seem
ingrate. And going to visit him helped relieve anxiety. It was becoming mundane for
john and lorraine to visit mr. Pignati in the hospital. John and lorraine felt bad for
putting mr. Pignati in a predicament situation.
When he was in the hospital john and lorraine threw a party and destroyed the
house and probably smelt putrid. The neighbors called the cops on them because
they had a band and was really loud. At the party they had chocolate ants as there
hors d`oeuvres. During the party mr.pignati showed up to the house and everyone
ran away. The cops showed up too and arrested john and lorraine. They took them
home and there parents were really mad. John and lorraine ended up taking pignati to
the zoo to say sorry and they found out bobo died and pignati had another heart attack

  • 2. Imprecatory Psalm 35 Essay Throughout the Book of Psalms there are almost one hundred verses with imprecations; however, Psalms 35, 55, 59, 69, 79, 109, and 137 are commonly known as the Imprecatory Psalms. Imprecation means the invocation of judgment, calamity, or curse uttered against one s enemies, or the enemies of God. Imprecatory Psalmscontain words that appear at face‐value to curseenemies, which become problematic with Christians who strive to love rather than curse their enemies as taught by the Lord Jesus Christ that is recorded in Matthew 5:39, 44; Luke 23:24; Romans 12:13; 1 Corinthians 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:15. This paper intends to examine specific Imprecatory Psalms and the teachings of Christ concerning His follower s response toward their enemies to determine whether Christians should pray the Imprecatory Psalms. Psalm 35 was written by David with intense emotion and urgency. While the problem that provokes such a prayer is not fully identified, there is sufficient ambiguity to classify it as an individual lament. Since the piety of David is notable, and his nature is given to upholding the things of God, we must start our analysis of imprecatory Psalms with the understanding that his emotional prayers calling for the vengeance of God should not be classified as sinful, especially since they come only after his enemies repeated attacks. Thus, it is imperative that we examine the particulars of each imprecatory Psalm to gain a full understanding of each circumstance and
  • 3. Children Of Men Essay Children of Men Themes of Postmodernism One of the biggest themes in this film is the theme of infertility. Infertility, while literally present in the film, stands as a metaphor for the end or as Hoberman (2006) says, No future . This is interesting because we would expect the end of the world to be due to a zombie apocalypse, global warming, or a giant meteor hitting the Earth rather than the unexplainable end of fertility. The filmbegins with everyone mourning the tragic loss of Baby Diego , who stands as a reminder of the 18 years of infertility. People who have never met Baby Diego sob as they watch from their personal television screens at work. Theo finds himself saddened by the loss, but not because of his connection to Baby Diego, but because he lost a miracle child of his own several years before. We can see the heartbreak in his eyes as he ponders the loss of his own child and the dystopian society that he faces every day. When he leaves work we see him riding on a train. The train looks rather old considering that it is supposed to be the year 2027. This theme of post industrialization is another aspect of postmodernism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firing from both sides does not cease for a long time. People are bleeding, screaming, and fighting back as best as they can. People on both sides of the battle are dying all over. It is not until the small cry of a baby is heard that the firing halts. The baby brings a sense of hope to each and every person in that scene as they momentarily forget about the battle at hand. As soon as Theo and Kee get out of the line of fire with the precious baby, the firing commences and a large portion of the building is blown up, sending rubble far and wide. Only in this type of film would the firing immediately continue after such a miraculous sight. The baby that brought them great hope for a small moment is quickly forgotten as the scene returns back to
  • 4. Invasion of Afghanistan Essay Invasion of Afghanistan Even before the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre in New York on September 11th 2001, Afghanistan was probably the most isolated country in the world. Only three other states recognised its rulers, who in the mid 1990s had swept across the country to impose a very strict and distinctive form of Islamic law upon the Afghan people, ending nearly 20 years of civil war in the 90% or so of the country which they control. The Afghan people have suffered greatly under Taliban rule, especially women and ethnic and religious minority groups, and they deserve a different and better government. In the past few years the Taliban have made it very difficult for the UN and other aid agencies to deliver humanitarian relief in Afghanistan, so in the Medium term an invasion would improve matters. Even if the Taliban were judged to be equally guilty with Bin Laden, the Afghan people are not; the Taliban conquered the country with the help of Bin Laden and thousands of other foreign, mostly Arab, fighters, and their rule is heavily oppressive. The invasion of Afghanistan is still likely in the long run to lead to a prolonged power struggle or civil war between different ethnic groups or local warlords, as before 1996. This will lead to many innocent lives being lost in the crossfire, prevent humanitarian aid that is desperately needed after three years of drought reaching millions of starving Afghans, and create a terrible refugee crisis. Invasion was the only way to try to capture or destroy Bin Laden and his terrorist organisation. Bombing on its own can prepare the way for a ground invasion, guaranteeing air supremacy and disrupting the enemy s command and control systems, but
  • 5. Child Adolescent Population And Developmentally Impaired... Introduction This paper will attempt to compare two systematic review articles on the topic of restraints and seclusion (S R) and its implications within the child adolescent population and developmentally impaired persons. The articles should present evidence to address claims on reduction while the results of the studies provide evidence on rationales to these practices. Aggressive behaviors by both of these populations in inpatient psychiatric facilities at some point become a safety issue in terms of assault and injury for both. Both reviews focus on incidences of seclusion and restraints and ways to reduce usage. The articles aim to answer what the current state of evidence is supporting restraints and reduction methods. Nonetheless, interventions are needed to reduce restriction and restraint utilization in children and persons with developmental disabilities (Menon, Raghavendra, Bernard 2010) Phenomenon of Interest The article Initiatives to reduce the use of seclusion and restraints on people with developmental disabilities: A systematic review and quantitative synthesis, analyzes the use of R S within the developmental disabled. According to Gaskin, Mcvilly McGillivray (2013) there is insufficient evidence that explores these practices among this population. There is also not enough evidence for aggression management measures and training in de escalation procedures. The review assesses studies that introduce interventions and the effects of R S

Author David Simmons studied color effects more generally in his book, Color and emotion: New directions in color studies. Simmons conducted a lot of experiments trying to prove that color can enhance positive moods. In one of his experiments he asked 56 undergraduate psychology students to paint a white wall with a color that made them to feel positive. The results indicated that yellow, orange and red were picked as the most positive color of the 9 color samples in total. Jacob and Suess (1975) disagree with the general theory that warm colors are more appealing and tend to enhance positive mood. They found that participants shown a more positive mood towards cool colors rather than warm colors. In his article, Effects of four psychological primary colors on anxiety state; Perceptual and motor skills, states that previous studies may have overlooked the effects of colors on standard pencil and paper measures of anxiety. He investigated the effects of primary colors such as: red, yellow, blue and green and the level of anxiety of the participants. The researcher administered the state scale of the State Trait Anxiety Inventory to 40 participants. After reviewing the results he found that colors red and yellow were associated with high levels of anxiety by the participants. On the other hand, color green was described as calming and associated with low levels of anxiety by the participants.

  • 13. Problems In New York City Essay New York City and its suburbs are world renowned for many things. However, when it comes to bicycle integration with public transportation, New York City lies in the shadow of other cities such as Portland and San Francisco. In these cities, all public buses have bike racks, trains have bicycle storage, cyclists have access to secure parking at metro stations, and safe bikeways provide cyclists with a route to metro stations. All four of these characteristics are needed to foster a bicycle friendly transit system. However, while New York Cityexcels in certain areas of this criteria, it lacks bike racks on buses and secure bike parking at subway stations. These problems also persist in New York City s suburbs; however, the suburbs fall even farther behind the city due to their lack of safe bikeways. With careful planning, these problems can be solved. To fix the lack of secure parking at downtown metro stations, I suggest implementing bike lockers at large parking garages in the city. The lack of secure parking at suburban metro stations can be resolved with more bike lockers at city stations that serve suburban commuter routes. For the shortage of bike racks on city and suburban buses, the solution is to simply install more bike racks on these buses. Finally, the lack of safe bikeways in the suburbs can be resolved by building more bus stops closer to residential areas, which will reduce the need for cyclists to travel long distances on dangerous main roads. If this were any other house on the block, or in a different city, the paranormal experiences would never happen. The focus on the house and its actions allow it to develop into its own character in the story and develop alongside the family

Miyoko Ohno, Japanese bridge designer Article by Leo Babauta I have a close friend named Norm who is a great photographer and a great person in general ... recently he was telling me that all he does is work. That might sound familiar to some of you I ve certainly been there at different points in my life, although these days I have to say that I ve found a pretty good balance between all the important things in my life, including work, family, and other things I m interested in. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finding That Balance Once you ve created space in your life for the things you love, it s just a matter of finding the right balance between them. You could have a life filled with all the things you love doing, but it could still be almost all work. While there s certainly nothing wrong with that if you love your work and it doesn t have negative consequences (on your health or family relationships, for example), for many people it s better to have other things balancing out their lives. Why is a balance between several things that you love better than just one thing that you love? Well, there are a number of reasons that would depend on your situation. For one thing, if you have an office job you might not be getting outdoors enough, or getting enough exercise, and your health might suffer. Another reason is that you might have family and/or friends and if you work all the time you re neglecting them and those relationships will suffer. You might also get lonely if you work all the time. Another major problem is burnout working all the time (or doing any activity all the time) can lead to stress and fatigue, and could make that activity less enjoyable. Variety is a good thingit keeps life interesting. So mix things up a bit. Here are some ideas for doing that: * Schedule time blocks. This is good for those who use their calendar a lot or can stick to schedules well. Schedule chunks of time throughout your week
  • 23. Different Blood Types The difference in blood types was discovered in the 1900s. Blood transfusions can only be completed after matching blood types. Everyone does not carry the same blood type although blood type O is the most common in the United States (US). The four blood types we know of are type A, B, O and AB. The ABO blood typeis determined genetically. Each bloodtype can be identified by the absence or presence of agglutinogens. With that being said, blood type O is a universal blood donor. Anyone with an O blood type is not a universal receiver. Those with blood type O can only receive transfusions from like blood types. Antigens on the red blood cells have antibodies that fight against other blood types from entering the cell. Which is why an individual s blood type is based upon the antigens he or she has. This would mean persons with neither A nor B antigens on their red blood cells, has both Anti A and Anti B antibodies, which means they have type O blood. Later, researchers found out that there is another antigen, on red blood cells, Rh factor. When the Rh factor is not present a person is identified as Rh and likewise if Rh is present, a person is Rh+. Thus, a person with Antigen A, and has the Rh factor is then labeled as blood type A+ (A positive). It is important to match a donor s blood and a recipient s blood before a transfusion to make sure the blood is compatible. If the recipient s blood does not match the donor s, the recipient s blood will clot and the recipient

Magnetic tape was such a huge leap in recording technology, because of the control it now gave artists within the studio. This new tape allowed for artists to splice, dub, cut, and recording multiple track on a tape. This gave artists complete control over their pieces of art. No longer were they restricted by what they could perform live. They could produce pieces of musicthat had the purpose of not being able to be recreated live, because it is how the artist wanted to represent their music. The first step to change is knowing and accepting the wrong that has been done and trying to figure out a way to change. There are numerous of practices that are used to help an offender bring their mistake to the light. These types of methods are called Evidence Based Practices and are used to help both the offender and probation officer learn to communicate on a different level. Evidence based practices are cognitive behavioral training, vocational education and training programs and treatment oriented intensive supervision program. They are used to reintegrate offender s back into the community successfully. The type of evidence based practice that I am going to talk about is motivational interviewing, the pro and cons and if it helps the offenders learn from their mistakes and if it is going to help in the future. Motivational Interviewing is to me is someone using whether business or personal experiences to relate and motivate those on probation. The biggest step in this is education first on what needs to be hashed out. Second is what positive steps the individual should take or the officer willing to point out in the rehabilitation process. Most importantly honesty is a must. And open door can never close and motivation cannot be forced. Through education and field work this form or communication can be utilized and thrive in a society. When Pepin died, he left his kingdom to both of his sons, Charles and Carloman, who decided to split up the land. However, after three years, Carloman died and Charles was unanimously elected King of the Franks. (Einhard, 4). Charlemagne made it a point to be crowned by the Pope, signifying that the church was above the king. This was a complete twist from history in that most kings were above the church and therefore religion was not as important. On December 25th, 800 AD. Charlemagne was crowned The Holy Roman Emperor. He added Roman to the title because his main goal was to reinforce Roman philosophy and ideology instead of feudalism. His reign covered much of western Europe until he died in 814 AD. But it s not just me he has influenced and inspired, and it s in this essay that I will discuss how this illustrious individual has influenced and placed his mark in the animation world. Miyazaki had always had an interest in drawing in his youth. Though his fascination with animation had started during his high school years when he first watched the feature length anime film, The Tale of the White Serpent . And after joining a children s literature club in college, his interest only grew. It was in 1963 after completing his degrees, that Miyazaki decided to pursue animation as a career and joined Toei Animation. There, he learned the basic fundamentals of animation and met up with his future collaborators, associates and even his future wife. • 41. The decision to pursue masters in engineering management... The decision to pursue masters in engineering management has not happened suddenly. Over the past 5 years, several aspects of my studies and work built the passion and interest in the field. I enjoyed my engineering education in general and did fairly well. However, I particularly excelled in courses that dealt with management, communications and humanities. The following graph shows the overall picture. After my undergraduate studies, I decided to gain expertise in management but I also did not want to lose my technology edge as I loved both disciplines. I got offers from Accenture (Fortune 500) and Wipro (Top 4 IT companies in India) in my campus itself (offer letters enclosed). However, as both were purely technical jobs, I rejected and ... • 43. The Decline Of Biodiversity In Australia Biodiversity is the variety of plant and animal life in the world and as such is an important aspect of all human life. Nature provides food, and ways of preventing diseases. Overall, it makes Earth a livable place for all life. It s been estimated that there are around thirty million species on earth but only around 1.7 million are identified. The issue with biodiversityis that it is rapidly declining in many parts of the world and once the biodiversity in an area is wiped out, it is basically impossible to revive. There are a couple of reasons as to why there is a steady decline in biodiversity. Some of the ways include habitat loss, spread of diseases or invasive species, and climate change. One way the rate at which biodiversity decreases... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Australia is considered a mega diversity nation, meaning that Australia has a very large portion of the Earth s biodiversity compared to other nations. Even though it holds a large portion of the biodiversity, it also has had the largest decline in biodiversity compared to any other country. The Australian Government recognizes the issues presented by biodiversity loss in their country and has acts in place in order to make improvements. Acts such as implementing the Australian Biodiversity Conservation Strategy 2010 2030, which had been reviewed in 2015. Their strategy includes enlisting the help of the majority of their people by mainstreaming the issue, reducing the threats to biodiversity and implementing intense monitoring. This is one country where the government understands the importance of biodiversity and are taking action against the decline but although the australian government has programs in place, they don t seem to be making very much progress. According to an article focused entirely on Australia s progress in biodiversity conservation, Australia has barely made any progress in actually reducing the growing loss of biodiversity there. The country itself has a greater amount of biodiversity compared to other countries and doesn t have the pressures of population but has made very little progress in conserving it. There s at least 46 other countries that have better and more
  • 44. How I Changed My Life Humans are amazing beings. We as humans are capable of doing great things. Unfortunately many people are satisfied with being average, and not accomplishing much in their life. Many people are convinced that they can t be great or can t achieve greatness in their life. However I believe that anyone can change his or her life for the better and obtain a successful and fruitful life. In this essay I am going to talk about how I changed my life from an overweight teen with no ambition to a relatively fit adult with a passion. It all started ever since I was a little boy, about 12 years old. I used to eat a lot of food; you might even say I was addicted to eating. I would eat no matter what. When I was sad I would eat, when I was happy I would eat. Basically my emotional mind state would be dependent on eating food. With that surplus of food, there was something else that made my physical state even worse. I was extremely lazy and unmotivated. I had no ambition; I would just sit around all day playing video games. So you could imagine what happened to me with this huge surplus of food and lack of activity. I was extremely overweight, I weighed 247 lbs.( 40% body fat) at the age of 14. This took a toll on me mentally and physically. For example, anytime that I would go to the mall with my friends, I would suffer a lot. I would see them trying on clothes and buying new clothes, while these clothes would barley fit me. Also many people would make fun of me. Due to my obesity I

Multicultural Excellence 1 Within the four components of Multicultural Excellence, I have experienced a greater expansion of my awareness in the discrimination of women in the education system. During my high school education, none of the history classes I took included in their curriculum a chapter on Title IX, and why it was added. In doing my Title IX research project, I became aware that in our recent history, before 1972, that there were quotas set in place, limiting the number of female students in a University. I am glad that legislation has passed removing quotas, but I also became aware that women are currently still a minority within the STEM majors. I believe this is due to our social construct here in America. My knowledge of how I can become an ally has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept can be found on page 67 of our textbook. Individualistic cultures place the importance on the individual and competing with each other. Collectivistic cultures place importance on the group s needs, and conforming to take the place within the group. In understanding this concept, I then begin to understand the worldviews of other people. This also plays an important role on how the family is structures. If I have a client in the future who has a collectivistic culture, I need to remain aware, and respect this, and work to develop a therapeutic plan that holds to their values, and alleviates their stress, without projecting my own individualistic thoughts onto the client. In this way, I can provide support in the way that they need it. A3.1 In the film, Let s Get Real, I watched as a child acted as an ally for a child who recently immigrated from Iran. While the other children were teasing him, in a language he did not understand very well, one child decided to stand up, and in doing so created a friend, and provided support for a child who really needed it. Later, the child reported how good it felt to have a friend, and how he was able to learn English through this friendship. It has helped provide me insight on the injustices on how people in the Big 8 of Diversities Culture group, who don t speak the dominant language, are poorly

My dedication and love towards science reflected in my grades for the Access to HE course in combined science. The Access course included biology, chemistry maths, and physics. Biology and chemistry provide analytic learning and knowledge of the human body, preparing me for biomedical science at university. Maths and physics are essential for problem solving, which are essential skills for a career in biomedical science and any healthcare profession. The course also boosted my skills in self improvement and creative thinking. As some of my units within the Access course included coursework and exams I liked being assessed this way. I felt I worked a lot better with this balance of assessment, which the biomedical science degree has. During spare time, I love engaging in good books and documentaries on human anatomy for e.g. (Atlas of human anatomy by Frank H Netter) and microbiology e.g. (Seven wonders of the microbe world) to further my knowledge in this

The destination that attract some individuals or group to leave their home are for better economic opportunities, higher standards of living, and freedom. Immigration has been the defining characteristic of America long before the country even began. It s important to remind ourselves of our rich history of where it all started. We all came from different places of the world to create this multicultural groups of people that is in the United Statesin the 21st century. While Immigrationpolicies have been perfected over the decades, the Trumps administration attempts to abolish those laws that have been in place by prioritizing on the value of immigrants, prohibit the travel of Muslim countries from entering the United States and end a government program which thousands of young immigrants can face deportation. A proposed change in immigration law announced by president the Trump administration would have a critical impact in the way possible immigrants are selected and become citizens. No longer would America be a place for people that had the desire to come for equal opportunity. Instead, America would largely focus on the skilled, higher earning and English speaking immigrates. Trump states that this change will benefit struggling America families by putting their needs first and Americas needs first. This bill propose will include a limit on

I had to pay taxes for things like sugar and documents and if that didn t put me into debt then there was the tea act and that angered us all because we already paid tax and now tea! Even though it is way less of tax I could be a trick. We don t even get Representation so why are we paying these taxes! Thankfully we have the Sons of Liberty to show Britain to back off and we formed a unity with the colonies called the Committees of Correspondence . But even that did not last. Shortly after, Britain banned the Committees of Correspondence and what affected me most was that they forced us to buy the tea and if we didn t they would close the Boston harbor. My husband says, we don t need to pay for the tea we can wait for others to pay for the tea and then get the thing we want. But that is not what I do first of all I need my tea, and second I feel like I should help the other people to pay for the tea. You thought this was it? Well it s not, there was then the Townshend act which let british soldiers live in out house and take all of our things. This just got my family into debt, deep debt. Today my family still is in debt and I still can t pay it off and now when my two little girls want something I have to say no, but they don t cry or throw a fit they just frown and look outside.
