Essay On Communication Skills
Writing an essay on the topic of communication skills may seem deceptively simple at first
glance, as communication is a fundamental aspect of human interaction. However, delving into
the intricacies and nuances of effective communication can make the task more challenging than
it appears.
To begin with, defining the scope of communication skills is essential. One must consider verbal
and non-verbal communication, written and spoken communication, and the various contexts in
which communication occurs. Addressing the multifaceted nature of this topic requires a
comprehensive understanding of interpersonal, intercultural, and organizational communication.
Crafting an essay on communication skills also entails exploring the impact of technology on
communication. In the digital age, the dynamics of how we connect and convey information
have evolved, introducing new challenges and opportunities. Discussing the role of social media,
virtual communication platforms, and the potential pitfalls associated with digital communication
adds a layer of complexity to the essay.
Furthermore, it is crucial to delve into the importance of effective communication in different
aspects of life, such as the workplace, education, and personal relationships. Analyzing case
studies or real-world examples can provide depth to the discussion and illustrate the practical
implications of honing communication skills.
Addressing potential barriers to effective communication, such as cultural differences, language
barriers, and interpersonal conflicts, requires a nuanced approach. Exploring strategies to
overcome these challenges and enhance communication effectiveness adds depth to the essay.
Additionally, the essay should reflect a critical evaluation of the impact of communication skills
on individual and collective success. How well one conveys ideas, listens, and adapts to diverse
communication styles can influence professional achievements, personal relationships, and
overall well-being.
In conclusion, writing an essay on communication skills demands a thoughtful examination of
various dimensions of communication. It requires navigating through theoretical frameworks,
practical applications, and the evolving landscape of communication in the digital era. Balancing
breadth and depth while providing insightful analysis makes this task both challenging and
intellectually rewarding.

Advantages Of Mcdonalds And Burger King
I have chosen McDonalds and Burger King as the competing fast food franchises
in South African to base my task on. McDonalds The first McDonalds was started
by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald, better known as Dick and Mac. The
first McDonalds was opened in 1930 in San Bernardino, California. In 1948,
McDonald closed down their successful carhop, they were closed down to make
McDonalds a self service operation. The lack of Jukebox, telephone and tables to sit
at, this made McDonalds attract more families than teenagers. The most impressive
aspect of McD s was the quality that the food was created and the efficiency at
which the employees worked at. Ray Kroc visited the restaurant in 1954 and that that

with their royalty themed design, everybody can feel the energy that BK puts off and
that is what attracts customers. пѓ BK offer great promotional benefits to their
customers on occasion to make the customers feel that the customers are being

the toys will attract the children which will attract the whole family in return. Another
good promotional scheme that BK have introduced is the bottomless drinks that you
receive when you dine within the restaurant, this gives the customers more value for
their money because you only pay for the drink once and can get it refilled for
Black September
Black September Black September is both the name of Jordan s war on the
Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in the early seventies and the name of
Palestinian terrorist movement created in revenge of the aftermath of Palestinian
losses of the war in Jordan. Black September was a movement created by a break

largest faction of the PLO. In Palestinian politics it is a more liberal group on the
left wing of the spectrum, it is mainly a nationalistic group with some traits of
socialism. Fatah s goal was to have liberation of Palestine and eradication of the

Instead, Weinberg led them to Apartment 3, where the terrorists corralled six

allowing one of his wrestlers, to escape through the underground parking garage.
Weinberg knocked one of the group members out and stabbed another with a knife

Essay On Foreign Law
Foreign Law
Canada s Legal System is based on the English and French systems, they base this
system on common law and civil law, also called Bijuralism. Common law is law
that evolved from precedent but is not written as legislation. Civil law is rules to
be a general guidance to problems that arise, courts do look at precedent, but they
first look at the rules. Canada is a federation, which means it has a federal
parliament that makes laws for all of Canada, and a legislature in each provinces and
territories to make laws for their areas.
With laws comes law reform, some laws may not cover specific situations, or
become obsolete all together. With law reform Canada can sometimes change the
system of law and even justice itself. Everyone ... Show more content on

Civil law is usually between people or people and the government, they usually
deal with things like contracts, property, and personal injuries (also known as
torts). Public law can be relevant in both criminal cases and civil cases, when a
case show that the powers of the government or rights of the citizens under the
constitution or a federal law is involved in the case. An example of a public law case
would be a person accusing someone of revoking a constitutional right.
Disputes can sometimes be taken to court, although a large percentage is settled
outside of the courtroom. When taking a case to court there are two kinds, trial
courts, and appeals courts. Trial courts are where evidence is presented, witnesses
are questioned, and the case is put before a judge or a judge and jury. If one of the
parties is unhappy with the outcome they could appeal the case sending it to appeals
court. In appeals court the appellant submits its case to a panel of judges to review
the previous court s decision to either change the previous decision or continue with
the decision of the previous court. Legislation is only the beginning to the law, the
judicial system is what makes the law a reality and that is the court system.
Law effects the people even if the crime is never committed by that person, although
laws help to prevent crime, the laws help lead to resolutions after a crime has been
committed. The
Among Palelestrina s Masses, The Pope Marclus Mass
Analysis
1.Among Palestrina s Masses, the Pope Marcellus Mass was among a small number
that did not include what?
According to The Oxford History of Western Music, the Pope Marcellus Mass is one
of
Palestrina s few Masses that doesn t consist of preexisting material. In fact, prior to
Palestrina writing the Pope Marcellus Mass, he had written over thirty paraphrase
Masses
(imitation masses) which were Masses that borrowed at least two or more parts from
another
piece of music (e.g. all L Homme ArmГ© Masses). In contrast to those many
paraphrase
Masses, the Pope Marcellus Mass was all original and freely composed.
During Palestrina s time, the Council of Trent took place, and (amongst other issues

The listeners and singers also
have to wait a while for a very prominent cadence, and because this Mass has six
voices, there
is a lot going on at the same time which keeps the listener s ears busy. Despite these
complexities, however, the Pope Marcellus Mass never has instances of different
words being
sung at once, but rather, different syllables of the lyrics being sung at once. Even
though it can
be difficult in both cases to clearly hear what s going on, I think that it s much harder
to hear
lyrics in a Motet style than in the Pope Marcellus Mass.
2.Whether they please the Council of Trent or not, identify two specific techniques
of Palestrina s style in the Pope Marcellus Mass that would help you identify it as
Palestrina s when looking at a score or listening.
One of the most notable features in the music of Palestrina is a technique called
recovered
leaps which are upward leaps that are followed by stepwise descending motion. I
remember
learning in class on Friday that that s one of the clues that represent Palestrina, which
means
that those leaps should be listened for in his music. I don t think that he was the only
composer
who has used them before, but it s important to note that he used
Death Of Death And Death
Throughout my entire life I have never really given much thought to the subject of
death. To be more accurate: throughout my entire life I have never allowed myself
to give much thought to the subject of death. Both of my parents are very easy
going, optimistic individuals so death was not a subject that was ever really touched
on. The only times that I really remember discussing it was in church (and I rarely
ever paid attention to this). Despite this lack of contemplation, I have always known
that I am very anxious about death, so when I filled out the attitudes towards death
and Leming s fearof death survey s I was not in the least surprised to find that my
answers coincided with high death anxiety. Death anxiety is defined in the textbook
as emotional distress and insecurity when faced with reminders of mortality
(Kastenbaum, 2012). This is an extremely accurate description of the way I react to
death. As stated in the attitudes towards death survey, I don t like to talk about my
own death, nor do I like it when my loved ones try to talk to me about their death.
When the subject of dying arises I am automatically overwhelmed with feelings of
panic and try to change the conversation. It has been shown that women in general
have a higher death anxiety (Kastenbaum, 2012) and I am also a very anxious person
in general so these probably contribute to it, however, from taking this course I have
learned that the biggest contributor is my thoughts about the meaning of death.
1000 Month
I read a lot. No, seriously. A LOT. I m about halfway through an MFA program that
requires me to read ten books a month. I read a poem, a short story, and an essay
everyday for The 1000 Day MFA, which is my own baby. I read at least one writing
craft book and one business book a month. So, that s roughly three books a week,
plus 30 poems, 30 short stories, and 30 essays a month all required reading. I have
latitude. I get to pick which books, poems, short stories, and essays I read. I love
all of that reading. Really. Sometimes I can t believe that I ve managed to build a

Essay on The New Idea of Modernism
In the time after World War One a new way of thinking became prominent. This
new idea is what we call Modernism. After the war it was realized that many people
had suffered absolute horrors, ones that they never could have imagined, or ever
forget. The violence and pain witnessed by so many left them psychologically shell
shocked, and filled with disillusionment. These psychological effects would soon
alter the world for years to come, and lead many to a loss in faith and questioning
of everything they once believed true. Many of the social normalities these people
had before they left for war, were abandoned. People exchanged their proper ways for
more relaxed ideals. In this new society people were more able to express themselves,

They were. The fact that women were now questioning the rules they once lived,
only shows that people were finally shifting away from the past and into a new era
of thinking. Women were not the only ones to questioning society during this time,
both men and women had seen the use of chemical weapons, brutal battles, and an
enormous waste of human life, people had rushed like lions to the roaring
slaughter (e.e cummings, line 10 ) making it difficult to believe in a divine being or
anything else, because who would let something that terrible happen? Due to this
new lack in faith people came to question the moral code by which society ran. They
became more concerned about their own moral code, rather than trying to fulfill
societies expectations, since it seemed to only let them down. This is shown quiet
well when Jake Barnes reflects on his own moral code in The Sun Also Rises, saying
That [is] morality; things that made you disgusted afterward. No, that must be
immortality (Hemingway 152). Jake like a great number of people after the war
were clearly more interested in their own concerns than those of anyone else.
People after the war were very selfish, they were tired of adhering to societies
expectations and never seeing any results. The no longer believed in holding
themselves back because of how society would view them.
Comparing Polarity Of Caffeine And Acetaminophen
In this experiment, thin layer chromatography (TLC) was used to identify and
compare polarity of two molecules, caffeine and acetaminophen. Chromatography is
defined as the separation of a mixture of chemicals as they flow at different rates
over a stationary phase based on their relative polarity. Caffeine, the more polar
molecule had a greater affinity for the polar silica gelstationary phase causing it to
consistently have a lower retention factor regardless of the mobile phase. This
methodology can be effectively used to distinguish and analyze the polarity various
of chemical mixtures such as within medicines, inks, etc.

arrest, Miguel continued to drink and believes his drinking is not a problem.
Currently, Miguel drinks an average of (2 to 3) rum and coke drinks per day (3 to

lifetime that also began around the age of 13. Miguel used marijuana heavily
throughout his 20 s and 30 s but currently reports smoking one to two joints per

past ten years and has no desire of ever quitting. Miguel s affliction with watching
pornographic materials began in his childhood and reports that his first experience
with porn occurred when his father gave him a Playboy magazine to look at and

clubs frequently, and sex with strangers. Miguel s wife is unaware of the extent of
her husband s excessive sexual behavior for which Miguel stated that he does not

We Must Live Streaming And Broadcasting
Introduction
Live streaming and broadcasting allow us to see what is happening around the
world just as it happens. The way live broadcasting is done now is completely
different than how it was done in previous years. First, only televisions could do live
transmission because of the heavy and costly equipment that was needed but with the
boost in social media and technology, anyone can shoot, upload and make the video
go viral and reach out to the people by just using the mobile device. No filters, no
editing, just live rolling news or coverage, by everyone for everyone.
The audience gets most of their news from the internet and social media these days.

coming years, as it will be seen as an opportunity for differentiation in an
environment where the physical form factor provides ever decreasing opportunities
for doing so.

The Civil Justice System
Tribunals
Introduction
Tribunals are not courts but they do operate alongside the court system and have
become an important part of the civil justice system. Many tribunals were created
with the development of the welfare state in the second half of the twentieth century.
They were created in order to give people a method of enforcing their entitlement to
certain social rights. However, unlike alternative dispute resolution (ADR) where the
parties choose not to use the courts, the parties in a tribunal case cannot go to court to
resolve their dispute. Instead, they must use the relevant tribunal.
The Role of tribunals
Tribunals are designed to enforce a person s rights which have been granted to them
through social and welfare legislation (Acts of Parliament). There are many different
rights, such as:
the right to a payment if you are made redundant from work;
the right not to be discriminated against because of your sex, race, age or a disability;
the right to a mobility allowance if you are too disabled to walk more than a very
short distance.
The above is just a small selection of the types of rights that tribunals deal with.
Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007
Remember tribunals were set up as the welfare state developed, so new developments
resulted in a new tribunal being created. This led to more than 70 different tribunals
being created. Each tribunal was separate and the various different tribunals all
operated
Analysis Of The Book Divergent By Veronica Roth
The novel Divergent , written by Veronica Roth is a science fiction book released
in 2011. This novel is about the character Tris Prior, who examines her own identity
as she tries to fit herself in her society made up of five factions. The aim of this
diversion is to erase the threat of anyone who could potentially harm or threat the
population. This novelalso has a romantic touch, between Tris and her dauntless
faction instructor, Four. This text illustrates the dangers of societies division, and
how your choices define your identity.
From reading this novel Divergent , an idea I found particularly interesting was the
factions. The societal structure is split into five different factions, which included
Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity, Candor and Erudite. The society members get to
choose which faction they want to belong in, but between each faction, there is
conflict, until someday when war breaks out. I found this idea Veronica Roth
portrays is very unusual because she has made society divided depending on the
way you act and think. And tomorrow at the Choosing Ceremony; I will decide on
a faction; I will decide the rest of my life; I will decide to stay with my family or
abandon them . I felt for Tris during this Choosing Ceremony. The aptitude testwas
supposed to tell her which faction she belonged in, however since her results from
this test were inconclusive, meaning she is divergent, she had to decide between the
three factions her results told her she was a
The Disagreements Over the Health Effects of Probiotics
Essay
Since the year 1965, the term probiotics has been used. Lilly and Stillwell were the
first to describe probiotics as substances secreted by one organism, which stimulated
growth of other organisms (Gupta, 2009). It was however, Elie Metchnikoff in the
1900s who first suggested that there were health properties in lactic acid bacteriafrom
fermented food products (Anukam, 2007). Since then, the meaning has undergone
some changes, one of the most recent definitions is that probiotics are beneficial live
microorganisms, which must be consumed in a sufficient amount for the desired
health effect (Guarner, 1998). The Food and Agriculture Organisation/World Health
Organisation has adopted this definition but there are many other organisations...

Therefore the bacterium ability to tolerate different pH levels is a crucial factor in
determining their probiotic use. Ability to attach to the gut epithelial cells and
adequate production of antimicrobial substances are also other important properties
of probiotics (Granato, 2010). In terms of commercial use and manufacturing,
probiotics must be resilient and maintain cell viability during periods of processing,
packaging and storage (Saarela, 2009).
The number food companies that are now using strains of Lactic acid bacteria and
Bifidobacteria in their food products has increased considerably and it is now diary
probiotic products that are making between 60% 70% of the functional food market
(Mohammadi, 2012). Fermented milk and yogurt beverages are the main source of
probiotics in supermarkets but there are also capsule and powder formations in
addition. The popularity of these products has increased due to the number of
documented benefits of consuming probiotic bacteria and support from media and
marketing.
The documented health and nutritional benefits from consumption of probiotic food
products show alleviating gastrointestinal problems and many other health benefits
(Granato, 2010). Various randomised controlled trials have shown that in children
with acute diarrhoea, probiotics has reduced the duration of diarrhoea by reducing
stool frequency. It has shown to be a safe intervention however the size of the

Her untimely death sent shock waves around her. Her husband was shocked by the

Liberalism, A Common Ideologies, Social Democracy And...
Liberalism is one of the two most common ideologies in the United States, with the
other being conservatism, and the ideology that I identify with the most. The other
two common ideologies, social democracy and libertarianism, are not brought up as
often in politics, and as such, I will be talking about them minimally. According to the
textbook, By The People: Debating American Government, liberalismis, [rejecting]
the idea that public officials should interfere in people s private lives, and being,
all for active government when it comes to economic policy or corporate
regulation. (Morone, Kersh, 2016, p.36). Liberalism is, in my words, the belief
that government has little need to restrict certain behaviors or actions in the lives
of its citizens, but instead that the time and money that would be spent on
restricting these should go towards helping the economy or regulating the actions
of companies. Some efforts that liberals have been working towards are protecting
the environment, limiting the actions of banks, and creating more government
programs to help people who need it, or at least increasing funding for said
programs. Liberals tend to work towards equality for all, whether it be equality of
genders, of race, or minimizing the gaps between socioeconomic classes. Liberals
are more accepting to new areas of science and new breakthroughs in science than
conservatives, and science is the general path I see my life going on. As such, I feel
like I fit in much
Sustainability
In today s global economy sustainability is very important; from the biological aspect
to the industries they all play a role on the marine environment. As world population
increases the demand of fish rises causing overfishing. Certain laws have been placed
to limit the amount of wild fishing to reduce the risk of endangerment. To meet the
demand of the population, fish farms are introduced. Pollution and health related
issues are part of the challenges of fish farming. Sustainability also affects social
areas such as beaches. The triple bottom line of fishingis influenced by sustainability
in many ways. One way is the demand for fish increases with population. As well
there are new laws limiting fishing, ultimately forcing once... Show more content on

Pollution is a damaging with fish farming. A group of wild fishing being fed to
fish in the ocean will eventually transfer disease. As well, fish pollute the water
from their wastes. Fish farming also affects the growth and genetics of the fish
because they are not in a wild environment. More research should be completed to
provide more adequate information and prevent negative outcomes for fish
farming. If farmers were unable to produce fish, the wild fish population would be
in trouble. The world would have an unreliable source of fish, because fishermen
would be over fishing the waters. Consumers would have a limited menu of fish
species. If there was overfishing social areas, such as beaches, would be greatly
affected. As well, other wildlife would be greatly affected by overfishing. Over all,
unless laws would be placed the world would not have enough marine life to
sustain. The wild fishing in the waters would be greatly reduces to try and conserve
what we have, if a law was in place.
In conclusion, my thoughts on U.S. production if fish farming was disbanded are that
the aquaculture economy would suffer. Also the population would have very

Comparing Macbeth And Rihanna
Every decision, every action, has some type of repercussion, whether it is good or
bad, immediate or long term. This idea has prevailed over the course of human
history from the Elizabethan Age to the present. Macbeth s character portrayal by
Shakespeare in Macbeth, and Eminem s self expression in the song The Monster by
Eminemand Rihanna describe two individuals that become puppets in their own life
due to the consequences of their ambitious actions. Macbeths ambition leads him to
become king. Eminem s desire to be recognized leads him to fame. Like the saying
goes, be careful what you wish for because one just might get it. Both characters get
what they wanted, but it cost them their state of mind. The result of each character s

The psychological mindsets of both characters negatively change as the
consequences of their actions and desires start to set in. Eminem starts to become
consumed by his fame. The media steals his privacy from him like any other
popular celebrity. I wanted the fame, but not the cover of Newsweek ( The
Monster ). The constant praise he has received as a popular artist has changed his
character into someone who amplifies their ego. I think I m getting so huge I need
a shrink ( The Monster ). He feels a constant pressure that any popular artist faces
from the industry to maintain appearances, but it takes a heavy toll on his
psychological state. Macbeth becomes constantly paranoid about his position,
believing that his throne will be taken away from him. Desperation takes a hold of
him, allowing him to change his morals and values. He becomes apathetic to
things that he previously wasn t to, such as the life of others. Murder becomes
casual to Macbeth, not even blinking as he unnecessarily takes the life of Lady
Macduff and her son. He is described as a tyrant by his subjects, Not in the legions of
horrid hell can come a devil more damned in evils to top Macbeth (Act 4, scene iii,
Diction In Seahorses
Poetry is a thing of perspective. By reading and writing poetry, we can look from a
different angle to explore and unlock deeper meaning in even the most everyday
objects and animals. Among many others, this theme of finding intricate beauty in
everyday things is prevalent throughout many of American novelist, essayist and poet
Brad Leithauser s multitude of works. One of the most detailed and elegant
examples of this lies in one of Leithauser s lesser known compositions. In this poem,
which is titled Seahorses (p.98, PoetrySpeaks: who i am), the author invites us below
the waves to witness firsthand an equine wonder that initially appears to be only a
strange looking fish, but turns out to be a haven for exotic beauty and imagination....

Seahorses is a non rhyming poem with seven ten line stanzas, which all prominently
exhibit the poem s four main literary devices: imagery, diction, symbolism and
rhythm. Leithauser s eloquent diction and well placed line and stanza breaks help
to construct a relaxing, peaceful rhythm that creates the elegant feeling of a seahorse
slowly swimming through the azure waters of the ocean. To add a layer of vivid
images to this already enthralling literary canvas, Leithauser uses descriptive
vocabulary, such as sparsity, menagerie and nonsynchronous, to describe the situation
and help the poem appeal to each of the reader s five senses. The most subtle, yet
possibly most impactful literary device displayed in the poem is symbolism.
Leithauser utilizes symbolism throughout the poem to give the poem greater depth
and extract deeper meaning from a topic usually thought of as simple and childish.
Appearing predominantly in the final two stanzas, but present throughout the poem,
Brad Leithauser uses the idea of the seahorse to represent imagination, and the
release that it can present from our every day troubles. This message is embodied by
the poem s final sentence which states, If there s to be any egress for you and me
from the straitening domain of the plausible, what
Essay On Dystopian
My story began with a dystopian novel about a chosen one trying to liberate her
broken society and an enigmatic second grader.
Something set this second grader off from everyone in her class. It wasn t just
because she was the only one who liked broccoli amongst her peers, no. What
made her stick out like a red dot in a canvas of black was the fact that she
absolutely loved reading. Even her teacher was shocked. And it wasn t just National
Geographic Kids magazines or Pinkalicious picture books that built up her
imagination. Her shelves were decked with books ranging from the anatomy of a

Essay on James Joyce s quot;The Dead quot;
James Joyce s short story The Dead deals with the meaning of life. This title is
significant and enhances several aspects of the story. First of all, it reveals that the
characters are unable to be emotional. They are physically living but emotionally
dead. Second of all, it contributes to the main subject of the story, Gabriel s epiphany.
The title contributes to these aspects of the story by adding meaning and acting as a
reminder of the overall theme of the story.
The title, The Dead , reveals the difference between how the people appear to be
and who they really are. All the people at the party appear lively, but inside, these
people are dead. Dead in this context implies that they are emotionally dead, but also
that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example where the characters are dead occurs where they talk about an
order of monks who sleep in their coffins. These monks actually act as a metaphor
for the characters. While discussing why the monks do this, the reason is given that
it was the rule; that was all (Joyce 871). This statement shows the ability to accept
something because it is a rule without even understanding the real purpose and
parallels the acceptance of social rituals by the characters. They each act the way
they do because it is the rule. The characters also call the monks very good men
(Joyce 871). This represents that the characters see the blind acceptance of these
social rituals as a good thing. This metaphor illustrates the characters as empty and
meaningless. It is also noted that the monks do not speak to each other. This is also
true about the characters. They do not really interact with each other out of this ritual.
The only difference between the characters and the monks is that the monks have a
greater purpose for their actions. This emphasizes how self involved the characters
are.
It is also relevant that each of the characters in the story seem to feel they are
superior and able to control their lives. The title The Dead is a reminder to the reader
that these characters are wrong.

Societal Views on Abortion Essay example
When asked about abortion most people try not to even think about the subject.
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or
closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. (Merrian Webster) Since
abortion was legalized in 1973 there have been over 35 million abortions performed.
Approximately 1 in every 6 women has had an abortion, giving a total of about 4,000
abortions each day in the United States only. Planned Parenthood s mission is to help
every woman make their own choice about abortion and not have official government
leaders be their voice. On the other hand the Pregnancy Testing Centers are
organizations based on Jesus Christ who are designed to help women make the right

By 1965 all states banned abortion, with the exception if it was in order to save the
mother s life, if the fetus was deformed, or in cases of rape and or incest. In the
early 1970s two young lawyers, by the name of Coffee and Weddington in Texas
volunteered to help a woman wanted an abortion after she allegedly stated she had
been raped. However, the case failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove she was
actually raped and attempted to obtain an illegal abortion. The case that is better
known today as Roe v. Wadeworked its way all the up to the Supreme Court and
until today is considered to be one of the most controversial yet significant in U.S
Supreme Court history. In 1973 the US Supreme Court overturned the abortion law
in Georgia with a case called Doe v. Bolton. In 1998, the Texas supreme court
upheld $1.2 million in damages against antiabortion protesters who has staged
massive demonstrations at Houston abortion clinics during the 1992 Republican

odds stacked against him, Tucker manages to get his first car built in just 60 days,
and is able to produce 50 cars to meet his contract requirements. Through the struggle
of breaking into the car market past the big three s attempts to stop him, Tucker
demonstrates his own leadership style, vision, and method of empowering his

personal attachment among his followers. Early on in the movie it became clear that

The build designer from the Air Force makes his appearance in the film by
explaining how Tuckers car is too short vertically and also aerodynamic in style
but not design. Tuckers likes this initiative and hires him on the spot. Later on he
also makes changes to the wheel design without telling Tucker until afterword.
Tucker could have been angry, and he does put on a fake angry façade but ends
up telling him that his initiative was good and he should keep doing it. This
shows that he is giving the power to his followers to let them use personal
initiative and not feel micromanaged. It is important for his followers to feel like
they can work productively and not feel like they can t make small improvements
on the car. The very high energy and demanding attitude that Tucker displays
throughout the movie conveyed that he expected great things from his builders but
infused them with the belief that they could get the job done at the same time.
After the Air Force guy nearly gets smashed by the car, Tucker is angry but
overlooks the fact that someone was almost killed until it was made clear to him
what had happened. He was so focused on the fact that something was wrong with
the car he showed that his high expectations had gotten in the way of the most
important aspect of his business, which was the safety of his people. Later on when
his friend crashed the car on the racetrack he is very concerned, showing that he had
gotten the message from the first incident. The freedom that Tucker gives his builders
empowers them to use personal initiative to improve the car and make the best

Good vs. Evil
Good Vs. Evil
In Beowulf, the conflict between good and evil is the poem s main and most
important aspect. The poet makes it clear that good and evil doesn t exist as only
opposites, but that both qualities are present in everyone. Beowulf represents the
ability to do good or to perform acts selflessly and in help of others. Goodness is
also showed throughout this epic as having the ability to cleanse evil. Even though
evil is presented by Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the dragon, who are filled with a
desire to act against people and ultimately destroy them, even pride, a human quality,
is presented in Beowulf as a sign that evil exists. This story might even be considered
a classic because it mainly talks about the old fashion ... Show more content on

He often talked about his accomplishments saying, They had seen me bolstered in
the blood of enemies when I battled and bound five beasts, raided a troll nest and in
the night sea slaughtered sea brutes. (Beowulf 419 422), which shows how good can
also be a bit proud. In the end, though, most of the time good will always defeat evil
but good won t always stay alive. For example, in the end of Beowulf, although
Grendel was killed by Beowulf as well as his mother, Beowulf still dies. In other
words, just because evil is defeated doesn t mean good will always live.
On a different but similar note, is Grendel s mother, who is seen as vengeful.
Different, because she isn t the same type of evil that Grendel is, but similar
because she is still an opponent to both men and the society of man at the time that
Beowulf was written, or rather, spoken. Also, Grendel s mother is tainted in the
opposite way that Grendel is; while Grendel is given a humanistic point of view,
people try to dehumanize Grendel s mother. While she is indeed just as evil as
Grendel was, she does not represent the utter evil that man must fight to achieve
immortality. She is a symbol of defiance of man, but she can be seen as more of a
neutral symbol. Grendel s mother doesn t attack Heorot because she doesn t like it.
She attacks it because Beowulf killed her only son, But now his mother had sallied
forth on a savage journey, grief racked and

She also states that daily limits should be customary for every Australian child to

Sources Of Sand And Factors
Sources of sand and factors of sand accumulation
Aeolian accumulations in the Western Desert, which include the Great Sand Sea
and the other five dune fields (South Qattara, Abu Muharik, Farafra, Kharga and
west Asyut) are the main sources of drifting sand upon the Nile Valley and its
Delta. The Great Sand Sea occupies an area of more than 115,000 km2 and extends
westward into Libya. The sands in this sand sea were originated mainly from the
Cretaceous Nubian sandstones in the southern part of the Western Desert (Besler,
2008). Radar data show that there are subsurface fluvial systems occurring beneath
the Great Sand Sea and it was postulated that these drainage lines moved tremendous
amounts of sediments northward by gravity in previous pluvial periods during the
Pleistocene, which were reworked by the wind action to form clusters of dunes (El
Baz et al., 2000). On the other hand, the source of sand, particularly west of the Nile
Delta was suggested by Abdel Rahman and El Baz (1979) to originate from the River
Nile itself. They reported that there is an ancestral delta that extends to about 500 km
width. This defunct delta is funneling north of Asyut and is extending west of the
present Nile Delta until the Qattara Depression. It is obviously recognizable in
satellite images. Dunes of the western Nile Delta region may, therefore, inherit their
sands from this ancestral delta sediments.
The forms of sand dune could throw light upon the sand supply in a given region.
Effects Of Classical Conditioning In A Bite Of China
Introduction
The psychology theory seems to be professional, and it is hard to use in daily lives
in many common people s views. However, some principles are used widely in TV
shows or movies. For example, classical conditioning can make people to perform a
specific behavior after several times training . In the essay, the author will introduce
a TV show called A Bite of China and discuss how the TV show use classical
conditioning.
Background information
Classical Conditioning
Classical Conditioning was founded by a Russian physiologist, Ivan P. Pavlov, in the
early 1900s. At first, He assumed that animals have automatic connections called
unconditioned reflexes, which is a reflection between a fixed stimulus and response
such as the food and secreting digestive juices. He speculated that the stimulus can be
transferred from one to another. After that, Pavlov did the experiments and get the
conclusion. In the process, he gave a dog food and the dog salivated. The connection
between the food and the salivation was automatic requiring no training. The food
was called unconditioned stimulus (UCS) and the salivation was called
unconditioned response (UCR). The UCS is an event that automatically elicits an
UCR. In other words, the UCR is the action that the UCS elicits. Next, Pavlov
introduced a new stimulus, such as a metronome. At the beginning, the dogs heard
the metronome but did not salivate. In this period, the metronome was a neutral
stimulus (NS) about salivation. After

How To Write A Picnic At Hanging Rock Essay
PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK PRACTICE ESSAY
The novel Picnic at Hanging Rock written by Joan Lindsay in 1967 is set in
Australia and tells the story of a class of female students who attend an exclusive
private girls boarding school called Appleyard College. In 1900, most of the
students and staff go on an excursion to the isolated Hanging Rock where three girls
and a teacher inexplicably vanish after climbing the rock on a Valentine s Day picnic.
The text explores the outlying effects the disappearances have on the school and local
community as the authorities conduct an exhaustive search for the missing four.

Peter Weir s film adaptation of the novel explores many themes and ideas of the
original text; however, through various cinematic techniques, he is able to enhance
and bring to life aspects of the novel such as the rock and the foreign Australian
landscape, the innocence of the girls and the claustrophobic atmosphere of the
college, and finally, the terrible effects of the girl s disappearance on those left behind.
Through the incorporation of soundtrack and camera angles, Weir enhances the
rock and Australian bush by transforming these two aspects of the novel into an
even darker and sinister presence which looms over the individuals in the film.
Within Lindsay s novel, the rock is mentioned on several occasions and is referred
to have soaring peaks and a powerful presence which gives readers the idea that it is
a potentially dangerous location. However, in the film, the rock is portrayed like a
character in its own right and is purposely made to be more frightening. The
haunting pan pipes are played in the background when the camera pans on the rock to
depict the implacable monoliths as a menacing creature which lures the girls. Pan
was the god who seduced and kidnapped young nymphs and

One of the way that we can tell is by looking at the weathering of the image. If the
edge of the image is nice and sharp then the engraving is new. If the edges of the
engraving is nice and rounded we can safely say that the engraving have been there
for a while. The main point of this article is to talk about the findings of the 59th
Unnamed Cave in Florida. This cave is interesting because there are very few sites
in Florida. This was only one out of the two sites that had rock art in them that is in
the state of Florida. I really like this article because instead of just talking about
what they see in the petroglyph, the authors actually highlighted the engravings so
that it is easier for the readers to see what they are talking about. The other articles I
have read only talked about the engraving but they did not really highlighted the
engraving which makes it very hard for the reader to see what they were talking
about. Another good point of this article is that they showed a comparison between
the older cave engraving versus the new engraving. By adding this information it help
the reader understand the difference between the two time frame that the engraving
was marked. One of the things that I wished this article would have is the radio carbon
dating section. The other articles I read about all have some type of radio carbon
dating to try to date when the site were occupied. This article only talked about the

Forest Hill Paper Company (FHPC) is a small, closely held paperboard
manufacturer that produces a broad line of paperboard in large reels, termed
parent rolls. These parent rolls are sold to converters who further process them
into containers used for a diverse line of consumer products, such as packaging for
microwavable meals. The owners of FHPC have long pursued the strategy of

Chemicals used in the digestor are reclaimed and reused in future pulp production.
Following the digesting process, the naturally brown fibers are washed and screened.
A bleaching process converts brown pulp into white pulp. The paperboard
manufacturing process begins by mixing pulp with water and chemicals in the first
stage, or headbox, of a paper machine. The mixture is applied to a porous wire
mesh; formation of paper actually occurs within this step. The wire mesh travels
through a press that forces the pulp mixture against the wire to eliminate water
within the mixture and to form the desired paper thickness. The material then
proceeds to a drying section where it travels across numerous cylindrical dryers
that are heated with steam. In the final section of the paper machine, long sections
of paperboard (approximately five miles long and weighing ten tons) are rolled up
into parent rolls and are removed from the machine. The parent roll is further
processed by FHPC s customers to make various types of paperboard containers.
Sometimes customers require additional processing on parent rolls. For example,
food processors often require widths of 18 inches, rather than the standard width of
a reel (approximately 12 feet). Thus, reels are loaded onto a rewinder slitter to
produce eight reels 18 inches wide from one 12 foot wide reel. For convenience,
Forest Hill had always combined labor and machine costs of the rewinder slitter with

clients the importance of planning for the distribution phase as soon as possible and
hopefully encourage client referrals. Also, a professional advisor who personally
knows the clients and their needs provides critical support to keeping long term
retirement plans on track while still focusing on time sensitive decisions. This
defensive move could stunt the firm s growth, and if it fails, could leave Edward

The second option shifts the company s original policies of strictly face to face

Plato and Confucius
Separated by more than 8500 kilometers but only 52 years, two seminal thinkers
have shaped the moral philosophy of their respective cultures. While Western ethical
theory has been deeply influenced by Plato s Republic, Eastern ethical theory has
been deeply influenced by Confucius s Analects. David Haberman describes the
Republic as one of the most influential books of all time (86). And Bryan Van Norden
compares (with considerable fervor) the Analects to the combined influence of Jesus
and Socrates(3).
On the surface, there are many similarities between Confucius and Plato. Both taught
through means of dialogue, and both expressed reticence to provide direct definitions.
Both advocated contemplation and education as the means for ... Show more content

The term seems to have a more ethical meaning. Some have argued that it is better
translated as goodness 10 or love, 11 but these terms fail to capture the completeness
of Confucius s meaning.12
Kwon Loi Shun claims the meaning of the original word itself is clouded by
competing views. He states that in the Analects ren is used both more narrowly to
refer to one desirable quality among others, and more broadly to refer to an all
encompassing ethical ideal (53).
While Confucius s definition of ren is not explicitly stated, it is intimated, and its
parallels with dikaiosune are notable:
1.
Confucius s concept of ren entails a wide scope of meaning. It is described as
something that includes other desirable qualities (Kwong Loi Shun: 53).13
2.
But it is also listed as one desirable quality among others such as courage and
wisdom (W9.29, W14.28).
3.
Ren is a virtue, which regulates our relationships with others. Confucius said the
direction which unifies everything and the single saying that can keep watch on one s
actions throughout one s life is this: considerateness that which one disfavors, apply
not to others (W4.15, W12.2, W15.24).
Essay Plato vs. Confucius 5
4.
Ren is related to harmony: harmony of the individual within the social framework of
the ideal state (Jiuan Yu: 327). The central Confucian idea is represented by a
Chinese character that has been explained pictographically as consisting of two parts:

Electronic Medical Record ( Emr ) System
For as long as any of us can really remember, paper based medical records have been
the way to go. Sadly if changes had to be made to the files then the files would need
to be physically taken out of storage and then returned after. More times than not
patients will have more than one health care provider and in this case, the patient files
are not necessarily being successfully shared among them due to the fact that the files
are tangible. Fortunately the implementation of Electronic Medical Record(EMR)
system is the answer to increasing efficiency and reducing the need for storage.
The EMR allows the medical records to be retrieved and accessed by any of the
health care professionals that need the information to help a patient. Implementing
an EMR would have improved diagnosis and treatments, significantly reduce errors
found within personal health records, and improve the speed of care and decision
making responses from assigned medical professionals. As with everything there are
always cons as well as the pros. The unfortunate cons of an EMR are the
technological side. It may be difficult to teach all of the people who will be using it
how to use the EMR and more importantly getting a majority of people on board with
it. After weighing out the pros and cons, there are series of steps that are conducted
through stages otherwise known as phases. EMR implementation require making sure
that the organization is ready for the commitment, making an outline, creating a

Biological And Most Aggressive Type Of Brain Malignancy
Recent studies including a genome wide study of certain cancers have come to
demonstrate that the most common and most aggressive type of brain malignancy, or
glioblastoma (GBM) comprises a shared link: alterations in the catalytic protein,
isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) (1). The focus of such research is the mutant forms
of NADP dependent homologous enzymes IDH1 and IDH2 (2) localized
predominantly in cytosolic and mitochondrial regions, respectively. Both of these
heterozygous point mutations modify the amino acidresidue present at the active site
of the original enzyme. Subsequently, neomorphic activity of the enzyme IDH is
established, replacing its original function with the conversion of the О±
Ketoglutarate (О± KG) to D 2 hydroxyglutarate (D 2 HG), an oncogenic metabolite
(3). The presence of IDH1/2 mutants in cells is consistent with abnormally high levels
of this tumor progressor, D 2 HG, which inhibits catalytic proteins that are О± KG
dependent (4). As a result, D 2 HG indirectly influences epigenetic regulation, the
formation of collagen as well as histone methylation. Transgenic mouse models are
now advancing to provide insight into the effects of IDH mutations in tandem with
other cooperating mutations better understand glioma pathogenesis (5).
The biochemical pathways involved in IDH mutant forms (IDH1m, IDH2m) reveal
that a substitution of the arginine residue 132 with histidine is responsible for the
pathogenic changes due to IDH1 mutations (6) (Figure 1).
The Roman Empire and the Han Empire
After the collapse of the Qin Dynasty in the third century BCE, the Han Empire
emerged as a massive imperial power in the East. Its culture was compiled upon the
teachings of Confucius and ancestor worship. Meanwhile in the west, the Romans
solidified their authority as being a dominant force in the Mediterranean. Both the
Roman Empireand the Han Empire were similar in their governments as they both
supported a centralized government. On the other hand, they were different in the
manner of how they dealt with foreigners and outside visitors. Although the Han
Empire and the Roman Empire were alike, there are more differences between them
than similarities. One difference between the two empires were their treatment with
foreigners. The Hans believed that they had no need for them to be included within
the Empire. However, this was not the case for the Romans. The Roman Empire
would accept outsiders and tolerate them. The Empire treated the foreigners well
even to the extent of making them citizens. During this time however, the Romans
did not have enough people to go to war. This led them into giving the barbarians
jobs in the military. Soon, there were so many foreign soldiers to the degree that
almost 70% of the entire army were barbarians. The reason why the Hans looked
down upon the barbarians was because the Hans thought that the barbarians were
inferior. One reason why the Hans thought that they were so superior was their belief
of the Mandate of Heaven. The
The Syrian Vigil
On the day of February 12, 2015, the then called the Islamic State of Syria released
a video of themselves savagely beheading 21 Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Christians
in which were kidnapped. This event shook my friends and family, as I myself am a
Coptic Christian. This was not the first time these barbarians have murdered simply
due to the fact that their prey if you will, did not share their beliefs. These incredibly
faithful individuals were willing to die by the hand of the sword in order to preserve
their doctrine. This could not go unnoticed, and the entire Coptic Community had
decided that this cannot keep happening. The youth and I at the local Coptic
Orthodox in Daytona Beach, Floridaheld a gathering and decided to hold a vigil in...

As great as the entire vigil turned out, it certainly was no walk in the park. Many
hours were spent planning and we paid a pretty penny. We had to rent out the
bandshell, print out hundreds of flyers and thank you cards, and making numerous
phone calls to many different people and businesses. The last second location
change wasn t pleasant either. However, it was unquestionably worth it. We also
were faced with the challenge of people who were not understanding of our cause,
as some even cursed at us. On the other hand, all our troubles seemed to fade, as the
love and support from our community was felt, and we were able to send the money
and other donations back to Egypt to the friends and family who were in mourning.
Another significant reward was the small sense of self fulfillment, in which you
worked so hard in order to preach and to try and make an impact on a global
Metronidazole
Although metronidazole is generally well tolerated with minimal adverse effects,
patients have reported a variety of reactions across physiological systems.
Central Nervous System. Headache, dizziness, vertigo, incoordination, ataxia,
confusion, dysarthria, irritability, depression, weakness, and insomnia have been
reported by patients taking metronidazole. More severely, patients have reported
convulsive seizures, encephalopathy, aseptic meningitis, optic/peripheral neuropathy
(namely numbness and parasthesias) during treatment (Sarna, Furtado Brownell,
2013, p. 768).
Gastrointestinal. Nausea (with or without headache or vomiting,) diarrhea, epigastric
distress, abdominal cramping, and constipation are the most common adverse effects
reported during metronidazole therapy. Patients have commonly reported a sharp,
metallic taste; glossitis and stomatitis have occurred, and may be related to Candida

Mayer et al. (2015) examined the rapid and significant changes to vaginal microbiota
following antibacterial treatment for BV, and found that metronidazole, although the
first line treatment for BV, is not effective ultimately effective against G. vaginalis;
within 24 hours of administration, there was complete reorganization of the vaginal
microbiota, with G. vaginalis reemergence within 7 days. It is speculated that drug
resistance may be partially responsible for their results. By contrast, Waheed, Yaseen
Shami (2015) evaluated the most effective therapy to prevent complications of
pregnancy caused by BV, and obtained a 74% cure rate using 0.75% metronidazole
cream; this was similar in results to use of 2% clindamycin vaginal cream, although
the clindamycin regimen is shorter in duration (p.

Mark Twain s Religious Views seen through his Works
Mark Twain is a fictitious name of Samuel Clemens. Mark Twain was an American
journalist, humorist, novelist, and lecturer. He acquired global fame because of his
travel narratives, such as The Innocents Abroad of the year 1869, Roughing It of the
year 1872, and Life on the Mississippi of 1883. He is also famous for his boyhood
adventure stories, particularly The Adventures of Tom Sawyerof the year 1876 and
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn of 1885. He was known to be a distinctive humorist,
and irascible moralist, and a gifted raconteur. Before independence, America was
marked by cultural and religious differences among small colonies, making a single

God would choose a select few to save as per his sovereign plan. Once chosen, the
select few would be justified by faith alone. The select few would still be subject to
backsliding because of the weak human nature, and would, therefore, make efforts
to live in Godly ways (Bryant 7). Between 1830 and 1850, this doctrinal
conservatism was widely adopted by many people in the rural parts of the United
States. The revivalist adopted reform as a preparation to receive grace rather than
as a means to grace. The sin of the flesh such as drunkenness was used to mark evil
doing with the aim of convincing sinners to receive grace. Sobriety was construed
as a marker of grace for those converted. This reformism caught on widely,
particularly in New York. The Great Awakening was moved in its fervor with the
intense migration from the East to Mississippi Valley. This resulted in the
development of a common religious culture in the Mississippi valley that is persistent
to the present day.
Mark Twain s work reflects on several significant variations in the Mississippi Valley.
Yankee Diaspora flooded the upper part of the Mississippi Valley. Presbyterian and
Congregationalist and Presbyterian churches dominated the religious landscapes from
Iowa to Ohio. The deep traditions of the American culture in these churches were
associated with the relatively well to do. These were the upper class churches and
were found in the North. In the South were Baptists and Methodists churches that
The Battle Of Gettysburg Battle Analysis
Battle of Gettysburg Battle Analysis It is our duty, as soon to be Second Lieutenants
in the Army, to learn from history. Learning from mistakes in the past is necessary to
understand the responsibilities we will soon have. The Battle of Gettysburg shows
prime examples of the nine principles of war: Objective, Offensive, Mass, Economy
of Force, Maneuver, Unity of Command, Security, Surprise and Simplicity. In the
militarytoday, we are overwhelmingly blessed with every asset that we have
including technology and monetary resources the list could go on forever but the
most invaluable asset is history. Although all nine principles of war are pertinent to
success on the battlefield, only five will be discussed in this analysis.
Objective
What a cruel thing is war; to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the
purest joys and happiness God has granted us in this world; to fill our hearts with
hatred instead of love for our neighbours, and to devastate the fair face of this
beautiful world! I pray that, on this day when only peace and good will are
preached to mankind, better thoughts may fill the hearts of our enemies and turn
them to peace. ... My heart bleeds at the death of every one of our gallant men.
(General Robert E. Lee. 1862) General Robert E. Lee, as renowned as he is for his
tactfulness in wartime, resents war in its entire capacity. That didn t put a strain on
his attempt to lead the Confederates invasion of the Northern States. His objective

Splendid Little War
In 1898 the United States declared war on Spain after the sinking of the Battleship
Maine in Havana harbor. Although there were many reasons as to why the war was
fought, the main one was the acquisition of territories within South America. The war
soon came to be known as The Splendid Little War to many because of all the
benefits that came from fighting it for the United States, all the while not having many
sacrifices in return. During this time period, the United States also went to war with
the Philippines, although it is very often forgotten because of how horrible our troops
handled the situation of their supposed liberation. Back in the time right before the
Spanish American war, Spain was pretty much conquering as many countries... Show

To squash these rumors, the United States passed the Platt Amendment which
basically said that Cuba would be a completely independant country as soon as the
war was over and that the only intentions the US had was the wellbeing of Cuba
and its citizens. There was a few conditions that Cuba had to follow, though, for
good relations. The first, and in my opinion, most important condition is That the
government of Cuba shall never enter into any treaty or other compact with any
foreign power or powers which will impair or tend to impair the independence of
Cuba, nor in any manner authorize or permit any foreign power or powers to
obtain by colonization or for military or naval purposes or otherwise, lodgement in
or control over any portion of said island . It is a little hard to believe that we went
to war with Spain over the wellbeing of Cuba considering the fact that soon after that
we began invading other Spanish colonized countries like the Philippines and Puerto
Rico. It seems that the United States wanted to get in on the colonizing

Lab Report: Ohm s Law Series Circuits Introduction
Theory:
Ohm s law defines the relationship between three important electrical properties
namely: voltage, current and resistance. Mathematically, ohm s law is expressed as:
V=IR. By understanding the importance of conduction, one is able to determine the
total resistance and visualize how resistors are connected in parallel circuits. In
parallel connection, each resistor provides a separate path for current [I] so that the
total resistance of a parallel circuit is reduced as more resistors are connected in
parallel. In contrast, the resistance in series circuits increases when more resistors are
introduced into the circuit. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In effect, the resistor was aligned horizontally with the first end. A black wire
extension (from the negative polarity of the power supply) was connected vertically
from one end of the last resistor plugged into the first set of holes just below the
blue line albeit aligned differently from the red wire (Figure 1). Figure 1: Circuit

A digital multimeter was used to measure voltage by connecting it in parallel and
series with the components.
Analysis
Resistors connected in series are observed to share one current path. A breadboard
effectively builds a testing electrical and electronic system model. It also holds
electrical components together conveniently for practical applications.
Part 2: Measuring Resistors in Series A multimeter was connected across individual
resistors and resistance measurements were recorded. The multimeter was then
connected across all the resistors whereby measurements recorded. The values are
tabulated in Table 1:

Research Paper On Okinawa
History of Okinawa (жІ–зё„зњЊ) Okinawa or formally known as the Ryukyu
kingdom is the most southern prefecture of Japan. Its capital Naha is located in the
southern end of a chain of island that spans over 1000km including hundreds of
small islands between Kyushu and Taiwan. The climates of the islands range from
humid subtropical towards the northern end to tropical rainforest climates in the
south. Of the hundreds of island, less than half are inhabited while much of the
other island are coral reefs and too small to live on. Because of the lack of land and
the difference in climate between the different islands, agriculture was a slow
development from the 8th century to the 12th century. The Okinawa islands are not
suited for wet rice farming as there are a lack of rivers and large lakes, which means

Due to Okinawa s geographical advantage, it was a launch pad for covert missions
over South East Asia. Growing tension between the people and the military
highlighted the anti Vietnam war sentiment that connected the political views for
the reversion of Okinawa to Japan (Morrocco). More controversy grew alleging the
storage of Nuclear weapons on Okinawa and growing fears over the escalating
Vietnam War as people perceived this as being a potential target for Communist
China as they could feel threatened by the US military power. As more information
leaked out the local population grew fear for the potential of a retaliation by the
Chinese government (Mitchell). The Okinawa uprising, also known as the Koza riot
was a violent and spontaneous protest against the US military personnel in Okinawa.
This event which occurred on December 20, 1970 was symbolised as the Okinawan
anger against the 25 years of military occupation. This was one of the many
challenges that Okinawans faced

Blog 29 How to stretch your online casino bonus
While it seems like there are countless welcome bonus and sign up offers available

Tip No. 1 Don t grab the very first bonus you see
Part of the task of extending an online casino bonus as far as it can go actually
begins with registering for the right online casino bonus in the first place. The
temptation is often to grab the first bonus that you see, but seldom is that ever a
good idea. You will want to look at online casino portal before you do anything and
find a casino bonus that is at least somewhat favourable towards the player. Be
patient, do you research, and find an online casino bonus that has extension potential.

William Penn American Hero Essay
Should William Penn be a heroic figure to American history? Throughout British
proprietary colonization of the Americas, there were many different motives for
claiming American soil by those whom were audacious enough to consider the
prospect of funding a distant statehood. Penn claimed to see his colony as a holy
experiment (page XIII); who differed from its peers in the respect that it had intent
to provide refuge to those whom faced religious persecution, even so, the devout
Quaker, eventually allowed to fall into a state of neglect and sink to the level of its
peers. Ironically the people of Pennsylvaniabecame so intolerant of other religions,
that, not even after four decades, Paralleled their English oppressors . Eventually,...

In lay man s terms, all considered Penn one hundred percent English, with no
relationship to the American revolutionaries of the United States whose actions
would take place more than a hundred years after his. While Penn may have
claimed his colony to be a holy experiment , his actions communicated otherwise.
When Penn received his charter from Charles II he saw further potential for and
many probable afforded opportunities for personal gain from establishing dominion
over territories over one of the many virgin lands in one of the new worlds. Penn s
ledger from the throne implanted the idea of escaping his own previously
established personal debts, as well as enlarging his overall holdings in real estate
and land, especially one not subject to the high taxes and economic cost which land
in mainland England cost at the time. When Penn received his ledger, the idea of
establishing a land of religious tolerance for all those persecuted by those less open
minded in the east seemed a very appealing thought to many. Penn, however, knew
that he had a far better chance of obtaining American real estate than English. He
recognized his charter as a means of enlarging his property holdings and his way out
of personals debt (page 122). While Penn s intent of establishing a land of acceptance
and brotherly love may have been apparent
How Did Beethoven Influence The World
Beethoven is one of the best composers we have ever had. Many say that he
composed his best works after going deaf. He was born to Johann and Maria
Magdalena van Beethoven on December 16,1770 in Bonn, Germany. His father
was the one who taught him piano and violin and mistreated him in the process.
Beethoven was a average student and left school at the age of eleven. Beethoven
studied with many tutors and then eventually left Bonn to make something of
himself. Beethoven left Bonn only to come and care for his sickening mother.
Soon after his mother died and a later later his father died as well. After leaving
Bonn to pursue a career he started selling his works to publishers. By 1794

Not only was he influenced by other composers but also by many musical styles.
One such influence was french music. The french revolution was not only famous in
Bonn but also in Beethoven compositions as marches. Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach
was not only known to Beethoven but also to Mozart and Hadyn who Beethoven
was influenced by. Just as emotion was a strong characteristic in Carl Philipp
Emanuel Bach s work it was even stronger in Beethoven s. Here is a quote by Julian
Medforth Budden expressing the influences of Beethoven, Rooted in the Classical
traditions of Joseph Haydn and Mozart, his art reaches out to encompass the new
spirit of humanism and incipient nationalism expressed in the works of Goethe and
Friedrich von Schiller, his elder contemporaries in the world of literature; the
stringently redefined moral imperatives of Kant; and the ideals of the French
Revolution, with its passionate concern for the freedom and dignity of the individual .
Beethoven s Symphony No. 5 is considered one of his masterpieces. It took
Beethoven about four years to create the piece. He started it at the most productive
part of his life and pieces likes the opera delayed the progress. The first movement is
the shortest he s composed ever.

Essay On Communication Skills.pdfEssay On Communication Skills

  • 1. Essay On Communication Skills Writing an essay on the topic of communication skills may seem deceptively simple at first glance, as communication is a fundamental aspect of human interaction. However, delving into the intricacies and nuances of effective communication can make the task more challenging than it appears. To begin with, defining the scope of communication skills is essential. One must consider verbal and non-verbal communication, written and spoken communication, and the various contexts in which communication occurs. Addressing the multifaceted nature of this topic requires a comprehensive understanding of interpersonal, intercultural, and organizational communication. Crafting an essay on communication skills also entails exploring the impact of technology on communication. In the digital age, the dynamics of how we connect and convey information have evolved, introducing new challenges and opportunities. Discussing the role of social media, virtual communication platforms, and the potential pitfalls associated with digital communication adds a layer of complexity to the essay. Furthermore, it is crucial to delve into the importance of effective communication in different aspects of life, such as the workplace, education, and personal relationships. Analyzing case studies or real-world examples can provide depth to the discussion and illustrate the practical implications of honing communication skills. Addressing potential barriers to effective communication, such as cultural differences, language barriers, and interpersonal conflicts, requires a nuanced approach. Exploring strategies to overcome these challenges and enhance communication effectiveness adds depth to the essay. Additionally, the essay should reflect a critical evaluation of the impact of communication skills on individual and collective success. How well one conveys ideas, listens, and adapts to diverse communication styles can influence professional achievements, personal relationships, and overall well-being. In conclusion, writing an essay on communication skills demands a thoughtful examination of various dimensions of communication. It requires navigating through theoretical frameworks, practical applications, and the evolving landscape of communication in the digital era. Balancing breadth and depth while providing insightful analysis makes this task both challenging and intellectually rewarding. • 2. Advantages Of Mcdonalds And Burger King I have chosen McDonalds and Burger King as the competing fast food franchises in South African to base my task on. McDonalds The first McDonalds was started by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald, better known as Dick and Mac. The first McDonalds was opened in 1930 in San Bernardino, California. In 1948, McDonald closed down their successful carhop, they were closed down to make McDonalds a self service operation. The lack of Jukebox, telephone and tables to sit at, this made McDonalds attract more families than teenagers. The most impressive aspect of McD s was the quality that the food was created and the efficiency at which the employees worked at. BK and their kiddie s meal toys is another form of promotion because the toys will attract the children which will attract the whole family in return. Another good promotional scheme that BK have introduced is the bottomless drinks that you receive when you dine within the restaurant, this gives the customers more value for their money because you only pay for the drink once and can get it refilled for

Gutfreund was fired upon with an AK 47 nearly cutting him in half but his actions saved his roommate, coach Tuvia Sokolovsky, and gave him enough time to smash a window and escape. Wrestling coach Moche Weinberg fought back against the intruders, who shot him through his cheek and then forced him to help them find more hostages. Leading the kidnappers past Apartment 2, Weinberg lied to the kidnappers by telling them that the residents of the apartment were not Israelis. Instead, Weinberg led them to Apartment 3, where the terrorists corralled six wrestlers and weightlifters as additional hostages. As the athletes from Apartment 3 were taken back to the coaches apartment, Weinberg again attacked the kidnappers, allowing one of his wrestlers, to escape through the underground parking garage. Weinberg knocked one of the group members out and stabbed another with a knife before being shot to death. A weightlifter also attacked and wounded one of the intruders before being shot and killed. The terrorists were left with nine living hostages. They were, in addition to Gutfreund, shooting coach Kehat Shorr, athletics coach Amitzur Shapira, fencing master Andre Spitzer, weightlifting judge Yakov Springer, wrestlers Eliezer Halfin and Mark Slavin, and weightlifters David Berger and Ze ev Friedman. Common law is law that evolved from precedent but is not written as legislation. Civil law is rules to be a general guidance to problems that arise, courts do look at precedent, but they first look at the rules. Canada is a federation, which means it has a federal parliament that makes laws for all of Canada, and a legislature in each provinces and territories to make laws for their areas. With laws comes law reform, some laws may not cover specific situations, or become obsolete all together. With law reform Canada can sometimes change the system of law and even justice itself. Everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Civil law is usually between people or people and the government, they usually deal with things like contracts, property, and personal injuries (also known as torts). Public law can be relevant in both criminal cases and civil cases, when a case show that the powers of the government or rights of the citizens under the constitution or a federal law is involved in the case. An example of a public law case would be a person accusing someone of revoking a constitutional right. Disputes can sometimes be taken to court, although a large percentage is settled outside of the courtroom. When taking a case to court there are two kinds, trial courts, and appeals courts. Trial courts are where evidence is presented, witnesses are questioned, and the case is put before a judge or a judge and jury. If one of the parties is unhappy with the outcome they could appeal the case sending it to appeals court. In appeals court the appellant submits its case to a panel of judges to review the previous court s decision to either change the previous decision or continue with the decision of the previous court. Legislation is only the beginning to the law, the judicial system is what makes the law a reality and that is the court system. Law effects the people even if the crime is never committed by that person, although laws help to prevent crime, the laws help lead to resolutions after a crime has been committed. The
  • 6. Among Palelestrina s Masses, The Pope Marclus Mass Analysis 1.Among Palestrina s Masses, the Pope Marcellus Mass was among a small number that did not include what? According to The Oxford History of Western Music, the Pope Marcellus Mass is one of Palestrina s few Masses that doesn t consist of preexisting material. In fact, prior to Palestrina writing the Pope Marcellus Mass, he had written over thirty paraphrase Masses (imitation masses) which were Masses that borrowed at least two or more parts from another piece of music (e.g. all L Homme ArmГ© Masses). In contrast to those many paraphrase Masses, the Pope Marcellus Mass was all original and freely composed. The listeners and singers also have to wait a while for a very prominent cadence, and because this Mass has six voices, there is a lot going on at the same time which keeps the listener s ears busy. Despite these complexities, however, the Pope Marcellus Mass never has instances of different words being sung at once, but rather, different syllables of the lyrics being sung at once. Even though it can be difficult in both cases to clearly hear what s going on, I think that it s much harder to hear lyrics in a Motet style than in the Pope Marcellus Mass. 2.Whether they please the Council of Trent or not, identify two specific techniques

One of the most notable features in the music of Palestrina is a technique called recovered leaps which are upward leaps that are followed by stepwise descending motion. I remember learning in class on Friday that that s one of the clues that represent Palestrina, which means that those leaps should be listened for in his music. I don t think that he was the only composer who has used them before, but it s important to note that he used
  • 8. Death Of Death And Death Throughout my entire life I have never really given much thought to the subject of death. To be more accurate: throughout my entire life I have never allowed myself to give much thought to the subject of death. Both of my parents are very easy going, optimistic individuals so death was not a subject that was ever really touched on. The only times that I really remember discussing it was in church (and I rarely ever paid attention to this). Despite this lack of contemplation, I have always known that I am very anxious about death, so when I filled out the attitudes towards death and Leming s fearof death survey s I was not in the least surprised to find that my answers coincided with high death anxiety. Death anxiety is defined in the textbook as emotional distress and insecurity when faced with reminders of mortality (Kastenbaum, 2012). This is an extremely accurate description of the way I react to death. As stated in the attitudes towards death survey, I don t like to talk about my own death, nor do I like it when my loved ones try to talk to me about their death. When the subject of dying arises I am automatically overwhelmed with feelings of panic and try to change the conversation. It has been shown that women in general have a higher death anxiety (Kastenbaum, 2012) and I am also a very anxious person in general so these probably contribute to it, however, from taking this course I have learned that the biggest contributor is my thoughts about the meaning of death.
  • 9. 1000 Month I read a lot. No, seriously. A LOT. I m about halfway through an MFA program that requires me to read ten books a month. I read a poem, a short story, and an essay everyday for The 1000 Day MFA, which is my own baby. I read at least one writing craft book and one business book a month. So, that s roughly three books a week, plus 30 poems, 30 short stories, and 30 essays a month all required reading. I have latitude. I get to pick which books, poems, short stories, and essays I read. I love all of that reading. Really. Sometimes I can t believe that I ve managed to build a life that involves so much reading. But there s no space there for just pure pleasure reading. I was feeling the loss. I wanted to read something that was just for me. I wanted to read what I wanted to read, goddammit.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... George R.R. Martin Translation: Pleasure reading connects you to humanity, expands your universe, AND keeps your brain sharp. So, here s what I did to incorporate pure pleasure reading back into my life: The 10 minutes of a fiction reading a day in the WRITER Framework (you know, the 10 minutes I was already blowing away like a hard sneeze)? I decided that instead of just marking that off as done X 10, I d dedicate those minutes to reading whatever the hell I wanted to read. That equals about one one novel a month. Last month I read Blackbirds by Chuck Wendig. Ten minutes at a time. TMI time: mostly in the bathroom. http://amzn.to /2nKXsqb It was glorious. (Glorious is my 12 year old daughter s favorite word. It makes me a little sad that I didn t have a favorite word when I was twelve.) Ten whole minutes of reading that didn t have to go into an annotated bibliography and wasn t designed to teach me
  • 10. Essay on The New Idea of Modernism In the time after World War One a new way of thinking became prominent. This new idea is what we call Modernism. After the war it was realized that many people had suffered absolute horrors, ones that they never could have imagined, or ever forget. The violence and pain witnessed by so many left them psychologically shell shocked, and filled with disillusionment. These psychological effects would soon alter the world for years to come, and lead many to a loss in faith and questioning of everything they once believed true. Many of the social normalities these people had before they left for war, were abandoned. People exchanged their proper ways for more relaxed ideals. In this new society people were more able to express themselves, how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were. The fact that women were now questioning the rules they once lived, only shows that people were finally shifting away from the past and into a new era of thinking. Women were not the only ones to questioning society during this time, both men and women had seen the use of chemical weapons, brutal battles, and an enormous waste of human life, people had rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter (e.e cummings, line 10 ) making it difficult to believe in a divine being or anything else, because who would let something that terrible happen? Due to this new lack in faith people came to question the moral code by which society ran. They became more concerned about their own moral code, rather than trying to fulfill societies expectations, since it seemed to only let them down. This is shown quiet well when Jake Barnes reflects on his own moral code in The Sun Also Rises, saying That [is] morality; things that made you disgusted afterward. No, that must be immortality (Hemingway 152). Jake like a great number of people after the war were clearly more interested in their own concerns than those of anyone else. People after the war were very selfish, they were tired of adhering to societies expectations and never seeing any results. The no longer believed in holding themselves back because of how society would view them.

Chromatography is defined as the separation of a mixture of chemicals as they flow at different rates over a stationary phase based on their relative polarity. Caffeine, the more polar molecule had a greater affinity for the polar silica gelstationary phase causing it to consistently have a lower retention factor regardless of the mobile phase. This methodology can be effectively used to distinguish and analyze the polarity various of chemical mixtures such as within medicines, inks, etc. In thin layer chromatography a stationary phase, silica gel with a glass backing, is dotted on a pencil drawn

Medical Case Study Miguel The case of Miguel presents various challenges that should be addressed immediately and assessed accurately in ways that are culturally valid, effective, and in accordance with diagnosis criteria listed in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders (DSM 5, 2013). Delamater Hasday (2007) stated that various disciplines contribute to an understanding of human sexualityincluding biology, evolutionary psychology, psychology, anthropology, women s studies, communications, family studies, and sociology. Even after his arrest, Miguel continued to drink and believes his drinking is not a problem. Currently, Miguel drinks an average of (2 to 3) rum and coke drinks per day (3 to 4) times a week. Miguel also reported intermittent use of marijuana throughout his lifetime that also began around the age of 13. Miguel used marijuana heavily throughout his 20 s and 30 s but currently reports smoking one to two joints per month. Additionally, Miguel has smoked a half a pack of cigarettes a day for the past ten years and has no desire of ever quitting. Miguel s affliction with watching pornographic materials began in his childhood and reports that his first experience with porn occurred when his father gave him a Playboy magazine to look at and told him that he could learn about sex if he looked at these pictures and read the articles. Miguel learned about masturbation by reading an article and since that time his pornography use increases and decreases but has always been present. Miguel was able to look at pictures from magazines for several years but when the Internet boomed porn became more and more of an issue. Over the past 10 years, Miguel has spent 2 3 hours per day on the internet looking at pornography websites; however, his sexual behavior extends beyond the act of viewing pornographic material that includes online chatting, internet hook ups, sex for pay, going to strip clubs frequently, and sex with strangers. The way live broadcasting is done now is completely different than how it was done in previous years. First, only televisions could do live transmission because of the heavy and costly equipment that was needed but with the boost in social media and technology, anyone can shoot, upload and make the video go viral and reach out to the people by just using the mobile device. No filters, no editing, just live rolling news or coverage, by everyone for everyone. The audience gets most of their news from the internet and social media these days. Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter all have introduced the Live feature. World Wide Worx MD, Arthur Goldstuck said, Visual media is coming to dominate mobile usage, with both image based and video based content accelerating in take up, and becoming the preferred medium for content, especially among younger users. We will see many more innovations in how content is delivered to or from phones in the coming years, as it will be seen as an opportunity for differentiation in an environment where the physical form factor provides ever decreasing opportunities for doing so. • 15. The Civil Justice System Tribunals Introduction Tribunals are not courts but they do operate alongside the court system and have become an important part of the civil justice system. Many tribunals were created with the development of the welfare state in the second half of the twentieth century. They were created in order to give people a method of enforcing their entitlement to certain social rights. However, unlike alternative dispute resolution (ADR) where the parties choose not to use the courts, the parties in a tribunal case cannot go to court to resolve their dispute. Instead, they must use the relevant tribunal. The Role of tribunals Tribunals are designed to enforce a person s rights which have been granted to them through social and welfare legislation (Acts of Parliament). There are many different rights, such as: the right to a payment if you are made redundant from work; the right not to be discriminated against because of your sex, race, age or a disability; the right to a mobility allowance if you are too disabled to walk more than a very short distance. The above is just a small selection of the types of rights that tribunals deal with. Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007 Remember tribunals were set up as the welfare state developed, so new developments resulted in a new tribunal being created. This led to more than 70 different tribunals being created. Each tribunal was separate and the various different tribunals all operated
  • 16. Analysis Of The Book Divergent By Veronica Roth The novel Divergent , written by Veronica Roth is a science fiction book released in 2011. This novel is about the character Tris Prior, who examines her own identity as she tries to fit herself in her society made up of five factions. The aim of this diversion is to erase the threat of anyone who could potentially harm or threat the population. This novelalso has a romantic touch, between Tris and her dauntless faction instructor, Four. This text illustrates the dangers of societies division, and how your choices define your identity. From reading this novel Divergent , an idea I found particularly interesting was the factions. The societal structure is split into five different factions, which included Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity, Candor and Erudite. The society members get to choose which faction they want to belong in, but between each faction, there is conflict, until someday when war breaks out. I found this idea Veronica Roth portrays is very unusual because she has made society divided depending on the way you act and think. And tomorrow at the Choosing Ceremony; I will decide on a faction; I will decide the rest of my life; I will decide to stay with my family or abandon them . I felt for Tris during this Choosing Ceremony. The aptitude testwas supposed to tell her which faction she belonged in, however since her results from this test were inconclusive, meaning she is divergent, she had to decide between the three factions her results told her she was a
  • 17. The Disagreements Over the Health Effects of Probiotics Essay Since the year 1965, the term probiotics has been used. Lilly and Stillwell were the first to describe probiotics as substances secreted by one organism, which stimulated growth of other organisms (Gupta, 2009). It was however, Elie Metchnikoff in the 1900s who first suggested that there were health properties in lactic acid bacteriafrom fermented food products (Anukam, 2007). Since then, the meaning has undergone some changes, one of the most recent definitions is that probiotics are beneficial live microorganisms, which must be consumed in a sufficient amount for the desired health effect (Guarner, 1998). Therefore the bacterium ability to tolerate different pH levels is a crucial factor in determining their probiotic use. Ability to attach to the gut epithelial cells and adequate production of antimicrobial substances are also other important properties of probiotics (Granato, 2010). In terms of commercial use and manufacturing, probiotics must be resilient and maintain cell viability during periods of processing, packaging and storage (Saarela, 2009). The number food companies that are now using strains of Lactic acid bacteria and Bifidobacteria in their food products has increased considerably and it is now diary probiotic products that are making between 60% 70% of the functional food market (Mohammadi, 2012). Fermented milk and yogurt beverages are the main source of probiotics in supermarkets but there are also capsule and powder formations in addition. The popularity of these products has increased due to the number of documented benefits of consuming probiotic bacteria and support from media and marketing. The documented health and nutritional benefits from consumption of probiotic food products show alleviating gastrointestinal problems and many other health benefits (Granato, 2010). Various randomised controlled trials have shown that in children with acute diarrhoea, probiotics has reduced the duration of diarrhoea by reducing stool frequency. It has shown to be a safe intervention however the size of the

Liberalism is one of the two most common ideologies in the United States, with the other being conservatism, and the ideology that I identify with the most. According to the textbook, By The People: Debating American Government, liberalismis, [rejecting] the idea that public officials should interfere in people s private lives, and being, all for active government when it comes to economic policy or corporate regulation. (Morone, Kersh, 2016, p.36). Liberalism is, in my words, the belief that government has little need to restrict certain behaviors or actions in the lives of its citizens, but instead that the time and money that would be spent on restricting these should go towards helping the economy or regulating the actions of companies. Some efforts that liberals have been working towards are protecting the environment, limiting the actions of banks, and creating more government programs to help people who need it, or at least increasing funding for said programs. Liberals tend to work towards equality for all, whether it be equality of genders, of race, or minimizing the gaps between socioeconomic classes. Liberals are more accepting to new areas of science and new breakthroughs in science than conservatives, and science is the general path I see my life going on. As such, I feel like I fit in much

More research should be completed to provide more adequate information and prevent negative outcomes for fish farming. If farmers were unable to produce fish, the wild fish population would be in trouble. The world would have an unreliable source of fish, because fishermen would be over fishing the waters. Consumers would have a limited menu of fish species. If there was overfishing social areas, such as beaches, would be greatly affected. • 22. Diction In Seahorses Poetry is a thing of perspective. By reading and writing poetry, we can look from a different angle to explore and unlock deeper meaning in even the most everyday objects and animals. Among many others, this theme of finding intricate beauty in everyday things is prevalent throughout many of American novelist, essayist and poet Brad Leithauser s multitude of works. One of the most detailed and elegant examples of this lies in one of Leithauser s lesser known compositions. In this poem, which is titled Seahorses (p.98, PoetrySpeaks: who i am), the author invites us below the waves to witness firsthand an equine wonder that initially appears to be only a strange looking fish, but turns out to be a haven for exotic beauty and imagination.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seahorses is a non rhyming poem with seven ten line stanzas, which all prominently exhibit the poem s four main literary devices: imagery, diction, symbolism and rhythm. Leithauser s eloquent diction and well placed line and stanza breaks help to construct a relaxing, peaceful rhythm that creates the elegant feeling of a seahorse slowly swimming through the azure waters of the ocean. To add a layer of vivid images to this already enthralling literary canvas, Leithauser uses descriptive vocabulary, such as sparsity, menagerie and nonsynchronous, to describe the situation and help the poem appeal to each of the reader s five senses. The most subtle, yet possibly most impactful literary device displayed in the poem is symbolism. Leithauser utilizes symbolism throughout the poem to give the poem greater depth and extract deeper meaning from a topic usually thought of as simple and childish. Appearing predominantly in the final two stanzas, but present throughout the poem, Brad Leithauser uses the idea of the seahorse to represent imagination, and the release that it can present from our every day troubles. This message is embodied by the poem s final sentence which states, If there s to be any egress for you and me from the straitening domain of the plausible, what

First of all, it reveals that the characters are unable to be emotional. They are physically living but emotionally dead. Second of all, it contributes to the main subject of the story, Gabriel s epiphany. The title contributes to these aspects of the story by adding meaning and acting as a reminder of the overall theme of the story. Another example where the characters are dead occurs where they talk about an order of monks who sleep in their coffins. These monks actually act as a metaphor for the characters. While discussing why the monks do this, the reason is given that it was the rule; that was all (Joyce 871). This statement shows the ability to accept something because it is a rule without even understanding the real purpose and parallels the acceptance of social rituals by the characters. They each act the way they do because it is the rule. The characters also call the monks very good men (Joyce 871). This represents that the characters see the blind acceptance of these social rituals as a good thing. This metaphor illustrates the characters as empty and meaningless. It is also noted that the monks do not speak to each other. This is also true about the characters. They do not really interact with each other out of this ritual. The only difference between the characters and the monks is that the monks have a greater purpose for their actions. This emphasizes how self involved the characters are. It is also relevant that each of the characters in the story seem to feel they are superior and able to control their lives. The title The Dead is a reminder to the reader that these characters are wrong.

The poet makes it clear that good and evil doesn t exist as only opposites, but that both qualities are present in everyone. Even though evil is presented by Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the dragon, who are filled with a desire to act against people and ultimately destroy them, even pride, a human quality, is presented in Beowulf as a sign that evil exists. For example, in the end of Beowulf, although Grendel was killed by Beowulf as well as his mother, Beowulf still dies. In other words, just because evil is defeated doesn t mean good will always live. On a different but similar note, is Grendel s mother, who is seen as vengeful. Different, because she isn t the same type of evil that Grendel is, but similar because she is still an opponent to both men and the society of man at the time that Beowulf was written, or rather, spoken. Also, Grendel s mother is tainted in the opposite way that Grendel is; while Grendel is given a humanistic point of view, people try to dehumanize Grendel s mother. While she is indeed just as evil as Grendel was, she does not represent the utter evil that man must fight to achieve immortality. She is a symbol of defiance of man, but she can be seen as more of a neutral symbol. Grendel s mother doesn t attack Heorot because she doesn t like it. • 30. Sources Of Sand And Factors Sources of sand and factors of sand accumulation Aeolian accumulations in the Western Desert, which include the Great Sand Sea and the other five dune fields (South Qattara, Abu Muharik, Farafra, Kharga and west Asyut) are the main sources of drifting sand upon the Nile Valley and its Delta. The Great Sand Sea occupies an area of more than 115,000 km2 and extends westward into Libya. The sands in this sand sea were originated mainly from the Cretaceous Nubian sandstones in the southern part of the Western Desert (Besler, 2008). Radar data show that there are subsurface fluvial systems occurring beneath the Great Sand Sea and it was postulated that these drainage lines moved tremendous amounts of sediments northward by gravity in previous pluvial periods during the Pleistocene, which were reworked by the wind action to form clusters of dunes (El Baz et al., 2000). On the other hand, the source of sand, particularly west of the Nile Delta was suggested by Abdel Rahman and El Baz (1979) to originate from the River Nile itself. They reported that there is an ancestral delta that extends to about 500 km width. This defunct delta is funneling north of Asyut and is extending west of the present Nile Delta until the Qattara Depression. It is obviously recognizable in satellite images. Dunes of the western Nile Delta region may, therefore, inherit their sands from this ancestral delta sediments. The forms of sand dune could throw light upon the sand supply in a given region.

However, some principles are used widely in TV shows or movies. For example, classical conditioning can make people to perform a specific behavior after several times training . In the essay, the author will introduce a TV show called A Bite of China and discuss how the TV show use classical conditioning. Background information Classical Conditioning Classical Conditioning was founded by a Russian physiologist, Ivan P. Pavlov, in the early 1900s. At first, He assumed that animals have automatic connections called unconditioned reflexes, which is a reflection between a fixed stimulus and response such as the food and secreting digestive juices. He speculated that the stimulus can be transferred from one to another. After that, Pavlov did the experiments and get the conclusion. In the process, he gave a dog food and the dog salivated. The connection between the food and the salivation was automatic requiring no training. The food was called unconditioned stimulus (UCS) and the salivation was called unconditioned response (UCR). The UCS is an event that automatically elicits an UCR. In other words, the UCR is the action that the UCS elicits. Next, Pavlov introduced a new stimulus, such as a metronome. At the beginning, the dogs heard the metronome but did not salivate. In this period, the metronome was a neutral stimulus (NS) about salivation. After

  • 34. Essay about The 59th Unnamed Cave in Florida The last article talks about the 59th Unnamed Cave, in Florida. This cave is located in the eastern part of the Florida Panhandle. From the dates of the artifacts and the dates of the glyph, the site was occupied in the Late Woodland period. The cave was discover in 2007 when a group of cave explorer saw fine engravings on the wall. This site was the first cave art site that was found in Florida and it is the second rock art site that was found in the states. Rock art is very rare in Florida, but now with the site found there is a wider perspective on the importance of rock art. The site did not only include the petroglyph drawing of the past, but it included some artifacts that was use to help date the time that the cave was occupied.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the way that we can tell is by looking at the weathering of the image. If the edge of the image is nice and sharp then the engraving is new. If the edges of the engraving is nice and rounded we can safely say that the engraving have been there for a while. The main point of this article is to talk about the findings of the 59th Unnamed Cave in Florida. This cave is interesting because there are very few sites in Florida. This was only one out of the two sites that had rock art in them that is in the state of Florida. I really like this article because instead of just talking about what they see in the petroglyph, the authors actually highlighted the engravings so that it is easier for the readers to see what they are talking about. The other articles I have read only talked about the engraving but they did not really highlighted the engraving which makes it very hard for the reader to see what they were talking about. Another good point of this article is that they showed a comparison between the older cave engraving versus the new engraving. By adding this information it help the reader understand the difference between the two time frame that the engraving was marked. One of the things that I wished this article would have is the radio carbon dating section. The other articles I read about all have some type of radio carbon dating to try to date when the site were occupied. This article only talked about the ceramic sherds that they

Albright University of Alabama IntroductIon Forest Hill Paper Company (FHPC) is a small, closely held paperboard manufacturer that produces a broad line of paperboard in large reels, termed parent rolls. These parent rolls are sold to converters who further process them into containers used for a diverse line of consumer products, such as packaging for microwavable meals. The owners of FHPC have long pursued the strategy of producing a full range of products. Following the digesting process, the naturally brown fibers are washed and screened. A bleaching process converts brown pulp into white pulp. The paperboard manufacturing process begins by mixing pulp with water and chemicals in the first stage, or headbox, of a paper machine. The mixture is applied to a porous wire mesh; formation of paper actually occurs within this step. The wire mesh travels through a press that forces the pulp mixture against the wire to eliminate water within the mixture and to form the desired paper thickness. The material then proceeds to a drying section where it travels across numerous cylindrical dryers that are heated with steam. In the final section of the paper machine, long sections of paperboard (approximately five miles long and weighing ten tons) are rolled up into parent rolls and are removed from the machine. The parent roll is further processed by FHPC s customers to make various types of paperboard containers. Sometimes customers require additional processing on parent rolls. For example, food processors often require widths of 18 inches, rather than the standard width of a reel (approximately 12 feet). Thus, reels are loaded onto a rewinder slitter to produce eight reels 18 inches wide from one 12 foot wide reel. For convenience, Forest Hill had always combined labor and machine costs of the rewinder slitter with

The first option focuses on staying true to Edward Jones small town roots and demonstrating the value of strong personal relationships with one s financial advisor in planning for the distribution phase of life (Faux, 2014). FAs can take advantage of face to face interactions and close relationships to communicate to clients the importance of planning for the distribution phase as soon as possible and hopefully encourage client referrals. While Western ethical theory has been deeply influenced by Plato s Republic, Eastern ethical theory has been deeply influenced by Confucius s Analects. David Haberman describes the Republic as one of the most influential books of all time (86). And Bryan Van Norden compares (with considerable fervor) the Analects to the combined influence of Jesus and Socrates(3). On the surface, there are many similarities between Confucius and Plato. Some have argued that it is better translated as goodness 10 or love, 11 but these terms fail to capture the completeness of Confucius s meaning.12 Kwon Loi Shun claims the meaning of the original word itself is clouded by competing views. He states that in the Analects ren is used both more narrowly to refer to one desirable quality among others, and more broadly to refer to an all encompassing ethical ideal (53). While Confucius s definition of ren is not explicitly stated, it is intimated, and its parallels with dikaiosune are notable: 1. Confucius s concept of ren entails a wide scope of meaning. It is described as something that includes other desirable qualities (Kwong Loi Shun: 53).13 2. But it is also listed as one desirable quality among others such as courage and wisdom (W9.29, W14.28). 3. Ren is a virtue, which regulates our relationships with others. Sadly if changes had to be made to the files then the files would need to be physically taken out of storage and then returned after. More times than not patients will have more than one health care provider and in this case, the patient files are not necessarily being successfully shared among them due to the fact that the files are tangible. Fortunately the implementation of Electronic Medical Record(EMR) system is the answer to increasing efficiency and reducing the need for storage. The EMR allows the medical records to be retrieved and accessed by any of the health care professionals that need the information to help a patient. Implementing an EMR would have improved diagnosis and treatments, significantly reduce errors found within personal health records, and improve the speed of care and decision making responses from assigned medical professionals. As with everything there are always cons as well as the pros. The unfortunate cons of an EMR are the technological side. It may be difficult to teach all of the people who will be using it how to use the EMR and more importantly getting a majority of people on board with it. After weighing out the pros and cons, there are series of steps that are conducted through stages otherwise known as phases. EMR implementation require making sure that the organization is ready for the commitment, making an outline, creating a system
  • 41. Biological And Most Aggressive Type Of Brain Malignancy Recent studies including a genome wide study of certain cancers have come to demonstrate that the most common and most aggressive type of brain malignancy, or glioblastoma (GBM) comprises a shared link: alterations in the catalytic protein, isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) (1). The focus of such research is the mutant forms of NADP dependent homologous enzymes IDH1 and IDH2 (2) localized predominantly in cytosolic and mitochondrial regions, respectively. Both of these heterozygous point mutations modify the amino acidresidue present at the active site of the original enzyme. Subsequently, neomorphic activity of the enzyme IDH is established, replacing its original function with the conversion of the О± Ketoglutarate (О± KG) to D 2 hydroxyglutarate (D 2 HG), an oncogenic metabolite (3). The presence of IDH1/2 mutants in cells is consistent with abnormally high levels of this tumor progressor, D 2 HG, which inhibits catalytic proteins that are О± KG dependent (4). As a result, D 2 HG indirectly influences epigenetic regulation, the formation of collagen as well as histone methylation. Transgenic mouse models are now advancing to provide insight into the effects of IDH mutations in tandem with other cooperating mutations better understand glioma pathogenesis (5). The biochemical pathways involved in IDH mutant forms (IDH1m, IDH2m) reveal that a substitution of the arginine residue 132 with histidine is responsible for the pathogenic changes due to IDH1 mutations (6) (Figure 1).

Its culture was compiled upon the teachings of Confucius and ancestor worship. Meanwhile in the west, the Romans solidified their authority as being a dominant force in the Mediterranean. Both the Roman Empireand the Han Empire were similar in their governments as they both supported a centralized government. On the other hand, they were different in the manner of how they dealt with foreigners and outside visitors. Although the Han Empire and the Roman Empire were alike, there are more differences between them than similarities. One difference between the two empires were their treatment with foreigners. The Hans believed that they had no need for them to be included within the Empire. However, this was not the case for the Romans. The Roman Empire would accept outsiders and tolerate them. The Empire treated the foreigners well even to the extent of making them citizens. During this time however, the Romans did not have enough people to go to war. This led them into giving the barbarians jobs in the military. Soon, there were so many foreign soldiers to the degree that almost 70% of the entire army were barbarians. The reason why the Hans looked down upon the barbarians was because the Hans thought that the barbarians were inferior. One reason why the Hans thought that they were so superior was their belief of the Mandate of Heaven. The

The select few would still be subject to backsliding because of the weak human nature, and would, therefore, make efforts to live in Godly ways (Bryant 7). Between 1830 and 1850, this doctrinal conservatism was widely adopted by many people in the rural parts of the United States. The revivalist adopted reform as a preparation to receive grace rather than as a means to grace. The sin of the flesh such as drunkenness was used to mark evil doing with the aim of convincing sinners to receive grace. Sobriety was construed as a marker of grace for those converted. This reformism caught on widely, particularly in New York. The Great Awakening was moved in its fervor with the intense migration from the East to Mississippi Valley.
