TYPES OF BANDAGING
Crepe bandages: Crepe bandages, commonly made of cotton, are a woven, elasticated bandage. Crepe bandages are ideal to support the healing of sprains and strains, as they provide good compression to injured areas, as per the PRICE method, but as they’re elastic they don’t prevent joints or muscles from flexing. Washable & Reusable
Conforming bandages: Conforming bandages are very stretchy and, as their name suggests, conform closely to the body’s contours. These bandages are ideal for securing dressings in place, particularly on limbs. These bandages are lightweight, fray-resistant and breathable. These are usually made with synthetic materials.
PRICE Method
Cohesive bandages (adhesive): Cohesive bandages are designed to stick to themselves, but not to skin or hair. This makes cohesive bandages quick and easy to apply and remove, not requiring any tape or pins to hold them in place. These bandages can be used both for holding wound dressings in place and for supporting and providing compression to injured muscles or joints.
Open wove bandages(cotton/Gauze): Unlike other kinds of bandage, these bandages are non-elastic, and can be used to hold dressings in place without constricting or pressuring the wound. This does however make them unsuitable for PRICE therapy. Their loose weave allows good ventilation, helping the skin to breathe and avoiding infection.
Plaster of paris: These bandages are used for creating casts to provide rigid immobilisation of fractured or broken limbs. Impregnated with Plaster of Paris (calcined gypsum), once immersed in water, these bandages can be moulded to the limb. The bandages then set fast into a strong, solid cast. These bandages should only be applied by medical professionals.

Wash hands
Give victim comfortable position on bed or chair and support the body part to be bandaged.
Always stand in front of the part to be bandaged except when applying bandages to head, eye and ear.
Be sure the bandages is rolled firm.
Make sure the body part to be bandaged is clean and dry.
Assess skin before applying bandage for any break down.
Observe circulation by noting pulse, surface temperature, skin color and sensation of the body part to be wrapped.
Always start bandaging from inner to outer aspect and far to near end.
When bandaging a joint ensures flexibility of the joint.

Definition
A strip of material used mainly to support and immobilize a part of the body. Definition of a bandage. And used
To support - fractured bone
To immobilize – Dislocated shoulder/Jaw
To apply pressure – Stop bleeding & Improve venous blood flow.
To secure a dressing in place.
To retain splints in place.
TYPES OF BANDAGING
Crepe bandages: Crepe bandages, commonly made of cotton, are a woven, elasticated bandage. Crepe bandages are ideal to support the healing of sprains and strains, as they provide good compression to injured areas, as per the PRICE method, but as they’re elastic they don’t prevent joints or muscles from flexing. Washable & Reusable
Conforming bandages: Conforming bandages are very stretchy and, as their name suggests, conform closely to the body’s contours. These bandages are ideal for securing dressings in place, particularly on limbs. These bandages are lightweight, fray-resistant and breathable. These are usually made with synthetic materials.
PRICE Method
Cohesive bandages (adhesive): Cohesive bandages are designed to stick to themselves, but not to skin or hair. This makes cohesive bandages quick and easy to apply and remove, not requiring any tape or pins to hold them in place. These bandages can be used both for holding wound dressings in place and for supporting and providing compression to injured muscles or joints.
Open wove bandages(cotton/Gauze): Unlike other kinds of bandage, these bandages are non-elastic, and can be used to hold dressings in place without constricting or pressuring the wound. This does however make them unsuitable for PRICE therapy. Their loose weave allows good ventilation, helping the skin to breathe and avoiding infection.
Plaster of paris: These bandages are used for creating casts to provide rigid immobilisation of fractured or broken limbs. Impregnated with Plaster of Paris (calcined gypsum), once immersed in water, these bandages can be moulded to the limb. The bandages then set fast into a strong, solid cast. These bandages should only be applied by medical professionals.

Principles for Applying Bandages
Wash hands
Give victim comfortable position on bed or chair and support the body part to be bandaged.
Always stand in front of the part to be bandaged except when applying bandages to head, eye and ear.
Be sure the bandages is rolled firm.
Make sure the body part to be bandaged is clean and dry.
Assess skin before applying bandage for any break down.
Observe circulation by noting pulse, surface temperature, skin color and sensation of the body part to be wrapped.
Always start bandaging from inner to outer aspect and far to near end.
When bandaging a joint ensures flexibility of the joint.
Always start and end two circular turns.

Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a mosquito-borne viral infection that causes encephalitis. It is the leading cause of viral encephalitis in Asia, affecting over 24 countries. In India, JE was first identified in 1955 and is now endemic in 18 states, especially Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. JE has three stages: prodromal, acute encephalitic, and late stages. Diagnosis is based on detecting IgM antibodies in CSF or blood within 7 days of onset. Breast cancer: Post menopausal endocrine therapy
Breast cancer in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) status is a common and complex condition that necessitates a multifaceted approach to management. HR+ breast cancer means that the cancer cells grow in response to hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. This subtype is prevalent among postmenopausal women and typically exhibits a more indolent course compared to other forms of breast cancer, which allows for a variety of treatment options.
Diagnosis and Staging
The diagnosis of HR+ breast cancer begins with clinical evaluation, imaging, and biopsy. Imaging modalities such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI help in assessing the extent of the disease. Histopathological examination and immunohistochemical staining of the biopsy sample confirm the diagnosis and hormone receptor status by identifying the presence of estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) on the tumor cells.
Staging involves determining the size of the tumor (T), the involvement of regional lymph nodes (N), and the presence of distant metastasis (M). The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system is commonly used. Accurate staging is critical as it guides treatment decisions.
Treatment Options
Endocrine Therapy
Endocrine therapy is the cornerstone of treatment for HR+ breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The primary goal is to reduce the levels of estrogen or block its effects on cancer cells. Commonly used agents include:
Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs): Tamoxifen is a SERM that binds to estrogen receptors, blocking estrogen from stimulating breast cancer cells. It is effective but may have side effects such as increased risk of endometrial cancer and thromboembolic events.
Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs): These drugs, including anastrozole, letrozole, and exemestane, lower estrogen levels by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, which converts androgens to estrogen in peripheral tissues. AIs are generally preferred in postmenopausal women due to their efficacy and safety profile compared to tamoxifen.
Selective Estrogen Receptor Downregulators (SERDs): Fulvestrant is a SERD that degrades estrogen receptors and is used in cases where resistance to other endocrine therapies develops.
Combination Therapies
Combining endocrine therapy with other treatments enhances efficacy. Examples include:
Endocrine Therapy with CDK4/6 Inhibitors: Palbociclib, ribociclib, and abemaciclib are CDK4/6 inhibitors that, when combined with endocrine therapy, significantly improve progression-free survival in advanced HR+ breast cancer.
Endocrine Therapy with mTOR Inhibitors: Everolimus, an mTOR inhibitor, can be added to endocrine therapy for patients who have developed resistance to aromatase inhibitors.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is generally reserved for patients with high-risk features, such as large tumor size, high-grade histology, or extensive lymph node involvement. Regimens often include anthracyclines and taxanes.

PGx Analysis in VarSeq: A User’s Perspective
Since our release of the PGx capabilities in VarSeq, we’ve had a few months to gather some insights from various use cases. Some users approach PGx workflows by means of array genotyping or what seems to be a growing trend of adding the star allele calling to the existing NGS pipeline for whole genome data. Luckily, both approaches are supported with the VarSeq software platform. The genotyping method being used will also dictate what the scope of the tertiary analysis will be. For example, are your PGx reports a standalone pipeline or would your lab’s goal be to handle a dual-purpose workflow and report on PGx + Diagnostic findings.

- 2. Roller Bandage A roller bandage is a strip of gauze , cotton or any other material prepared in a roll. It has two parts- Head and Tail
- 3. Roller Bandage (Material used) A roller bandage may be made up of- -Cotton -Callico -Flannel -Domette -Gauze -Muslin -Crape bandage

- 5. Principles of Bandaging Make sure the person is comfortable and tell them what you're doing. Work from the side of the injury so you do not have to lean across their body. Keep the injured part of the body supported in the position, it'll be in when the bandage is on
- 6. Principles of Bandaging use the right size bandage – different parts of the body need different widths of bandage. avoid covering fingers or toes when bandaging a limb so you can easily check the circulation The bandage should proceed from bellow to upwards over the limb.
- 7. Principles of Bandaging while bandaging cover 2/3rd of previous turn and proceed 1/3rd upwards. We should keep the turns parallel with one another. The bandage should be neither too loose nor too tight.
- 8. Principles of Bandaging while bandaging we should never apply knot or pin over a wound. While removing the bandage first loosen the end and pass the bandage form one hand to another hand gathering the loose bandage up in the hands. We should never apply wet bandage as it will shrink and become too tight on drying.
- 9. Methods of Bandaging Circular bandage- it is used for a very small cut or wound. In this process 3-4 circular turns are applied after anchoring the bandage. Anchoring prevents the bandage from slipping.
- 10. Methods of Bandaging Spiral bandage- it is used for a large cut or wound on cylindrical body part such as arm, where the thickness is not increasing rapidly. In this process spiral turns are applied after anchoring the bandage. We complete the process by taking two circular turn at the end. After applying it should be seen as shown in the picture.
- 12. Methods of Bandaging Reverse Spiral bandage- it is used for a large cut or wound on cylindrical body part such as leg, where the thickness is increasing rapidly. In this process Reverse spiral turns are applied after anchoring the bandage. We complete the process by taking two circular turn at the end. After applying it should be seen as shown in the picture.

- 16. Methods of Bandaging Spica bandage- this method is used for joints where one part makes an angle with the other part such as hip spica, shoulder spica or thumb spica. For applying thumb spica we start from wrist with anchoring the bandage than move towards thumb make a round and come back to wrist. And continue till part is covered.

- 18. Methods of Bandaging Recurrent bandage- it is used to cover the tip of finger thumb or a stump. In this process we make recurrent turn to cover the tip after starting with anchoring the bandage. We complete the process by taking two circular, spiral or reverse spiral turn at the end depending upon size of the tip and stump as shown in the picture.
- 20. Methods of Bandaging Capeline bandage- it is used to cover the scalp. In this process we need two roller bandages. First of all we tie tails of both bandages. Start from front of forehead we make two types of turns (circular and front-back- front)for completing the bandaging.
- 22. Methods of Bandaging Eye bandage- it is used to cover the Eye. In this process we place the tail of bandage just above the affected eye and make a circular turn around head. During second turn we bring the bandage bellow the ear and cover lower portion of eye dressing and complete the dressing as shown in the picture

- 24. Methods of Bandaging Ear bandage- it is used to cover the Ear. In this process we place the tail of bandage just above the eye of affected side and make a circular turn around head. During second turn we bring the bandage bellow the ear and go up over the head sparing the eye. complete the dressing by repeating the seteps as shown in the picture
