• It is a biological process.
• DNA replication is the process of producing the two
replica’s of the DNA by the one original molecule of DNA.
OR
• Simply it is a process of making the copy of DNA itself.
• Watson and crick proposed the outline model for DNA replication .
• They said that DNA replication can be in 3 different types :-
 conservative method of DNA replication.
 Dispersive method of DNA replication .
 Semi – conservative method of DNA replication .
• In this method , DNA is conserved which
means that the parental DNA will remain as
it is and the new daughter strand is formed .
• In this method , the parental DNA strand
and the new DNA strand is mixed i.e. they
get dispersed .
• In this method , half will be
the parent strand and half will be
the new strand .
• But , after performing the experiment we got to know that the DNA
replication is a semi – conservative method of replication.
• They aren’t conservative or dispersed replication.
• DNA replication takes place in the
nucleus of the cell.
• DNA replication occurs during the S – phase
( synthesis )of the cell division .
