Discussion Essay Structure
1. Discussion Essay Structure
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Discussion Essay Structure" may pose a considerable
challenge, as it requires a comprehensive understanding of not only the subject matter but also
the intricacies of constructing a coherent and engaging discussion. This task demands a balance
between presenting well-researched information, expressing personal opinions, and maintaining
a logical flow throughout the essay.
To begin with, one must delve into the nuances of discussion essays, comprehending the
underlying principles and guidelines that govern this particular form of academic writing. This
involves grasping the importance of a clear introduction, a body that explores different
perspectives, and a conclusion that synthesizes the key points without introducing new
information.
Moreover, the difficulty lies in the need for critical thinking and analytical skills to assess various
viewpoints and arguments on the chosen topic. Constructing a compelling discussion essay
involves evaluating evidence, identifying counterarguments, and skillfully presenting one's own
stance while acknowledging opposing views. Striking the right balance between objectivity and
persuasion adds another layer of complexity.
The structural aspect is equally demanding, as each section of the essay must seamlessly connect
with the others. Transitions between paragraphs, coherence in ideas, and a well-defined thesis
statement are pivotal for creating a cohesive narrative. Meeting these criteria requires meticulous
planning and organization, making the writing process more challenging.
Additionally, the difficulty intensifies when considering the necessity of proper citation and
referencing. Adhering to the prescribed academic format and citing sources accurately demands
attention to detail and a thorough understanding of citation styles, which can be time-consuming
and mentally taxing.
In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of crafting an essay on the "Discussion Essay Structure"
involves grappling with the subject matter, mastering the art of critical analysis, and honing the
skills of effective communication. It is a task that demands time, dedication, and a nuanced
understanding of both the topic and the conventions of academic writing.

2. Andy Warhol 32 Soup Cans Analysis
Andy Warhol s thirty two canvases titled 32 Soup Cans was created in 1962. This
renowned American Pop Artist, known for his repeating reproductions and gaudy
colors, produced this piece using the printmaking method. Warhol didn t want his
paintings of mass produced commercial goods to be conceptually stimulating. He
wanted to make his work relatable so that viewers could approach them and have a
clear interpretation. Warhol replicated the appearance of manufactured objects and
famous icons for the sake of expressing his view on modern culture in a manner that
had nothing to do with personality or individual expression. According to Eric
Shanes in his book titled Warhol, Warhol s 32 Soup Cans were initially displayed in a
single line around the gallery walls. The original display maximized the
repetitiousness of the imagery. The display was so spatially extended, and ultimately
projected the fearsome notion that the whole universe was filled with Campbell s
soup. Shane points out that Warhol developed the notion of taking an image familiar
to millions and presenting it frontally, without painterly qualities, and with a flat
surround (as though it was some kind of holy icon) (Shanes, 52). Shanes points out
that Warhol formed an alliance between abstract expressionist paint handling and
popular cultural imagery. Shanes also notes that... Show more content on

The Campbell s Soup Can series, along with his other series, provided Warhol with
a chance to express his positive view of modern culture. It is also clear that Warhol
relished his popularity and fame. Warhol personifies a new type of start, a creator,
producer, actor, and businessman. This is an idea that hadn t been blunt in my
mind until now. It is clear to me that pieces like 32 Soup Cans be created not only for
the sake of art but for the sake of business and
3. Donatello And Chaucer
The Renaissance was a time where education and an understanding of the world was
promoted. Art and architecture were valued and new styles of art were introduced.
Two people who had an impact on the world, both now and during the Renaissance
are Donatello and Geoffrey Chaucer.
Donatello was born in 1386 and was the son of Niccolo Di Betto Bardi. He was a
sculptor and was known for his lifelike and detailed sculptures. He was an apprentice
of Lorenzo Ghiberti, who taught him about the science of metals and how to create
them. In 1443 he made the bronze equestrian statue Gattamelata, after the deceased
warrior Erasmo De Narni. It had been the first bronze statue since roman times and
created conflict. It would become the baseline for many future equestrian monuments
in Italy and Europe. In 1445 he completed the Magdalene Penitentiary, a twisted
figure commissioned by the Santa Maria Del Cestello convent to motivate the
prostitutes there to repent. His most important work, the bronze version of David
was five feet tall and was commissioned by Cosimo De Medici. (Donatello biography,
2016.) As Donatello s work became popular, Cosimo De Medici would become a
very close friend to him and commissioned most of his work.
Another man who played a big part of the Renaissance was Geoffrey Chaucer.

The style before Chaucer s style was plain, simple, and effortless. Geoffrey
Chaucer changed that. He used more lengthy words with more meaning. He
combined words from different languages in his poems such as Greek, Latin,
Arabic, German, and French. Chaucer also broke out of the medieval alliterative
tradition and write in accentual syllabic metre. Shakespeare was inspired by
Geoffrey Chaucer. Shakespeare s Troilus and Cressida is inspired from Chaucer s
Troilus and Criseyde (Geoffrey Chaucer, 2008). Geoffrey used other styles to make

4. The Tradition Of War Poetry Essay
The Tradition Of War Poetry
By comparing and contrasting a selection of war poems consider the ways in which
attitudes to war have been explored and expressed. When considering poetry written
post 1900 concentrate on a selection of poems written by Wilfred Owen.
Humans have turned to poetry in many different instances as a way of expressing
them selves, using the best combination of words, in the best order to express
exactly how they are feeling at that moment. Poetry is one of the most powerful
means of communication that uses words very sparingly, and often defines the era in
which the poet lived and died. I think that is why many poems are written about war,
as anyone who was involved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also uses strong metaphors to describe how the men should fight in the battle,
such as imitate the action of the tiger. This line prepares the troops psychology as
well as physically by saying that they should be strong, courageous and fierce like
the animal. The poem is also very patriotic, and talks of how the men should not
disgrace their mothers or ancestors. Like the poem The Soldier by Rupert Brooke, it
presents the idea that dying for your country would be a good, brave thing to do and
is in a way a sense of duty towards their mother England.
This poem is not wholly positive or negative. It gives war a good image by making
it sound courageous and noble but it also expresses some horrific images such as,
Or close the wall with our English dead. I think that the last line of the poem, Cry,
God for Harry, England and Saint George. sums up the overall message of the poem
by ending in a strong religious line, using a group of 3 to make the speech effective,
and emphasising the fact that their cause is a righteous one.
Although The Charge Of The Light Brigade does put much importance on the idea
of how brave and courageous the men fighting were it also creates a different
message compared to The Battle Of Harfleur from Henry V. I think what Alfred
Tennyson was trying to do in this poem was to convey and explain what mistakes

6. Beowulf and Gilgamesh
Comparative English Essay
Compare the Beowulf poet s presentation of the battles with Grendel and his mother
with the Gilgamesh poet s depiction of Gilgamesh battles with Huwawa and the Bull
of Heaven.
Fame and glory have been the most admirable characteristics in the middle Ages and
even before Christ in the ancient civilizations. The epics of Gilgamesh and Beowulf
are stories of heroism and immortality gained through fame. The aim of the main
characters, Beowulf and Gilgamesh, is to be a good warrior by being courageous,
respectful and prudent, a protector and servant to their king (only in the beginning of
Beowulf, as he later becomes king and Gilgamesh already is) and their country. In

Enkidu and Gilgamesh can only win against nature and even gods by cooperating,
which again is a sign of culture. It shows us that a civilization can withstand
everything and even fight the Gods plans.
In the Beowulf poem the battle scenes are described more vividly descriptive and
including a lot of symbolism. The first fight is between Beowulf and Grendel, a
fiend out of hell, [В…] grim demon haunting the marches, marauding round the
heath and the desolate fens; he had dwelt for a time in misery among the banished
monsters, Clain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed and condemned as
outcasts. (p. 6) Beowulf sets out to kill this monster in order to achieve fame. He
isn t forced to do so, especially as Grendel doesn t attack the Geats (his clan) but the
Danes. Nevertheless Beowulf settles out to destroy the demon and declares that he
will fight Grendel there is a feast: Now I mean to be a match for Grendel, settle the
outcome in single combat. (p. 15) Afterwards there is a feast in Hereot and at dusk
Beowulf prepares for the fight and awaits Grendel s attack. Then down the brave
man lay with his bolster under his head and his whole company of sea rovers at
rest beside him. Beowulf s companions stay at his side and this is a symbol for their
closed circle of society. The Germanic culture is based on the

and called it home or your church. Some of your immediate family attends along
with a few relatives. You have made some personal friendships and you and your
family have developed positive fellowship with many who attend on a regular
basis. It s a beautiful day for a service and you and your family arrives at your place
of worship anxious to participate. You are looking forward to singing some songs
of inspiration listen to some uplifting testimonies or readings and then be
strengthened by the Word of God. This day of worship, however, is somewhat
different from past services. The form of the service is basically the same but that
which is being presented is somewhat unfamiliar. Oh, Christ is being mentioned and
so is God, but now there is talk of special revelations. Certain speakers are talking
about esoteric experiences. Much sounds very intriguing and some listeners were
hanging on every word while others were in wonderment. This wasn t just a one time

Home
A Martian Sends a Post Card Home (1979) allows the reader to view Earth s
inhabitants through the eyes of martian. This allows the reader to understand human
culture in a foreign and unusual perspective. The reader illustrates in the poem
metaphors causing confusion which in turn highlights that humans are bound by
society and language. For instance that is, the speaker s language overturns
established conventions and the end result is one of displacement and comedy. In
this essay I wish to discuss the speaker s use of language and whether humans are
bound by society and language itself.

The snoring of the baby is the dial tone, people try and calm babies much like the
way they answer telephones. The following two lines is an extended metaphor which
shows the similarity between ticking a baby and dialling a number. This relates to the
previous metaphor between a manufactured item and a natural thing. From line 25 to
30 the martian continues his observation of human culture and relationships. He
describes how using the bathroom varies for adults and children. Children are
allowed to suffer openly, whereas adults go to the bathroom or punishment room
alone. Punishment ties into the theme of imprisonment. Despite adult or child,
everyone has to relieve themselves and use the bathroom suggesting that everyone is
punished. The speaker adds a bit of humour saying that No one is exempt and
everyone s pain has a different smell . The final four lines the metaphor returns to the
martian s comparison between dreaming and reading. The colours die is when the
sun sets. The speaker chooses to exemplify a couple in the last line of the poem. With
the criticism of human culture and relationships it suggests that human beings

10. Frederick The Great Essay

Frederick was a capable king, and one of the first monarchs to be enlightened . As
king of Prussia, Frederick led an era of great change in his nation. Under his rule,
The Enlightenment spread, and Prussia became a major military power in Europe.
During the time of Frederick, a movement focused on using reason, called The
Enlightenment , swept through Europe. As an enlightened monarch, Frederick
helped to usher this change of thinking. This reason was implemented in a few of
Frederick s policies, most notably in how he put the state above his personal desires.

At the time of his ascension, his father had left a standing army of 83,000, but by
the time Frederick died, that number had risen to 190,000. Only a small portion of
these were Prussians, however, as Frederick hired mercenaries so the peasants
could continue to work and pay taxes to support the army. This focus on military
allowed Prussia to gain territory and power, but did not help improve the life of
the average citizen by any means. However, Frederick put the state above all else,
and needed such a powerful army to ward off his main rivals, Austria and Russia.
His warding off generally involved preemptive invasions whenever he felt
threatened, so much of the first twenty years of his reign were spent at war. From
these wars, he gained some territory, but the most important gains of land were
Silesia, and the land gained from the partition of Poland. Despite the dominance of
his army, Frederick made many enemies, and was almost defeated in the Seven
Years War. Besides his previous feuds with Russia and Austria, he also angered
France when he attempted to make an alliance with Britain. Surrounded on all
sides, he only survived when he signed a peace treaty with the new czar of Russia,
and the previous one had died. Thanks to Frederick, Prussia gained a large amount
of land and power, but he almost lost it all due to some of his decisions, and life for
the general populace was not
11. Scientists-Skeptics
The standard way of thinking about the truly phenomenal issue of Climate Change is
represented by the idea of danger and damage caused by this change in the nature.
However, a number of scientists skeptics have recently suggested that consideration
of climate change as a significant and destructive problem is scarcely relevant and
rather groundless.
According to R. Lindzen (2016), there are two already mentioned groups of science
persons: scientists from the United Nation s International Panel on Climate Change or
IPCC and skeptics whom the narrator belongs to. These people present two opposite
points of view on the issue of climate change, it s importance and reasons of
appearance. The first group emphasizes that global warming is a considerable and
serious problem which everybody should take into account. In other words, these
scientists believe that burning of fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas is the
major reason for climate change as well as CO2 s penetration into the atmosphere.
However, the second group represented by scientists skeptics offers an alternative and
apparently assumes that there are many reasons for climate change: the sun, clouds,
oceans, orbital variations of the Earth and other inputs. They ... Show more content on

Climate change is still a controversial question, while the already mentioned
problems have plenty of empirical evidences of the ongoing crisis caused by these
issues. So, if group of scientists skeptics is right that climate change is not as
dangerous as some people try to position it, as I think they are, then we need to
reassess the popular assumption that changes in nature are the primary problem for the

Advantages and Disadvantages
There are both advantages and disadvantages of the matrix structure; some of the
disadvantages are an increase in the complexity of the chain of command.
This occurs because of the dif ferentiation between functional managers and project
managers, which can be confusing for employees to understand who is next in the
chain of command. An additional disadvantage of the matrix structure is higher
manager to worker ratio that results in conf licting loyalties of employees. However
the matrix structure also has significant advantages that make it valuable for
companies to use. The matrix structure improves upon the silo critique of functional
management in that it diminishes the vertical stru cture of functional and creates a
more horizontal structure which allows the spread of information across task
boundaries to happen much quicker. Moreover, matrix structure allows for
specialization that can increase depth of knowledge allows individuals to be chosen
according to project needs.
This correlation between individuals and project needs is what produces the concept
14. Theme Of Religion In A Thousand Splendid Suns
Is religion alone that powerful enough to coerce an abundance of immigrants to start
afresh with a new country? One of the main reasons immigrants move to the United
States or any nation for that matter is for religious freedom and independence. In A
Thousand Splendid Suns, readers follow the lives and narratives of two different
women and their struggle to survive their brutal society. Through the book, the
subject of religion and its impact on the two women is broached and further
explored. In Khaled Hosseini s A Thousand Splendid Suns, religion serves as
justification of several aspects of the Afghan society; religion is used to justify
violence, patriarchy, and discrimination against women.

These differences that the Talib speaks of is one of main ways patriarchy is
defended, since God made man and woman differently, the Afghan community
assumes that they must be treated differently as well. Also, there must be one sex
that is superior to the other then, many communities along with the Afghan
community chose to place men above women due to sexist beliefs of the
characteristics of a man which should be strong, confident, overbearing, and sex
driven and the characteristics of a woman which should be quiet, obedient, and
nurturing. When the Talib mentions of how we require only one male witness but
two female ones (Hosseini 324) in the court process, he reveals the extent to which
patriarchal views are woven into the fabric of society, as far as the criminal justice
process. For Mariam, this means that her chances of winning in court is very low
since there was only one witness, another woman, Laila, so the court is less likely
to believe or take into account Laila s words. Religion impacts Mariam s life by
plaguing the minds of the courts and judges with her inferiority as a woman which
inevitably leads to a flawed rationale rectifying her severe punishment as a result.
Women are discriminated against because since religion is connected deeply to
culture, it is only normal for them to be circumscribed for their own good. Rasheed
finds modern Afghanistan women and their behaviors such as not wearing

Theory
Marxist Literary Theory in Hamlet Marxism is a theory based on a materialist
interpretation of historical development and a dialectical view of social
transformation (Wikipedia, 2017) by philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.
Marxism focuses on social contradictions and the struggle between socioeconomic
classes, which are proletariat, who are the poor people and the working class; and
bourgeoisie, the rich people that control the means of production. Marxist theory
states that the only way to eliminate the differences between both classes is a violent
revolution that will lead to a communist society.

The fact that Claudius and Gertrude want to get marry so fast leads to different
thoughts. Claudius speaks to the royalty and not to the entire castle that includes the
lower class because he does not want to raise suspicions. He could have killed King

socially, and economically. Gertrude and Claudius might have been lovers in the past

to preserve her power and high position in Denmark.

part of the hippie culture and the prevalence of LSD helped to create the distinct

The goal of LSD, along with other psychedelic drugs, was to open the mind and
find a new light to look upon things (Bacig). Many artists took this approach to their
music and would drop acid before composing music. This gave the music of this era
a distinct sound and without LSD, the world would not have psychedelic rock. During
this time, many artists referenced LSD in their songs because of the profound
effect it had on them. In order to produce the psychedelic feel, the artists would
write esoteric lyrics, often describing dreams, visions, or hallucinations as well as
use other techniques such as distorting and delaying the sound, and playing
sections of the song backwards. Another important part of psychedelic rock is the
influence of Indian music. Bands such as The Beatles popularized this technique of
using exotic instruments like the sitar, the tambura, and the tabla in their music
(Psychedelic Rock). The Beatles were a very well known and popular band in the
sixties. The use of LSD and other drugs heavily influenced two of their albums,

However, sales growth has declined steadily since 2007. Wal Mart s 2010 annual

CAREER EPISODE 1
a)INTRODUCTION:
THE CHRONOLOGY: August 2014 to November 2014
GEORAPHICAL LOCATION: Mawson Lakes, South Australia
NAME OF THE ORGANISATION: University of South Australia
TITLE: A mobile GPS device for Geocaching
[CE 1.1] This is a career episode which details my experiences and knowledge gained
while working on developing a GPS enabled device for a recreational sport called
Geocaching as part of my unit of study Embedded system design during my final
semester. I worked on this project along with my team mates with whom I shared
common interests in the field of my desire. I was guided by my lecturer Dr. Jason
White during the whole period of this particular development.
b)BACKGROUND
[CE 1.2] GPS enabled mobile device
I chose embedded system design unit due to my inordinate interest in embedded
microcontroller programming. It was one of the requirements of the unit to build a
GPS enabled device that meets the specified requirements for its use in the
recreational sport Geocaching. Geocaching is a modern day treasure hunting or
letterboxing game which basically uses the latest GPS technology to track and find
items located in a remote place, with GPS coordinates provided to the user who is
playing the game. This sport is gaining a wide popularity among the global
audience. As part of the course structure, I was asked to develop a GPS enabled
22. Culture Adoption in Wole Soyinka’s and Tsitsi...
Colonialism versus Origin
Within Wole Soyinka s and Tsitsi Dangarembga s intricately weaved novels, both
pieces of literature successfully intertwine to portray the estrangement and hardships
dealt with through the main characters in settling within a separate environment apart
from their origins; culture and adopting the colonial mentality which is imposed upon
them. There is a negative portrayal of the colonial mentality that manifests onto the
African society. There are three major categories within these two texts displaying the
characters that forget that they play these roles within society as puppets of
colonialism, those who rebel against the invading culture that seems to threaten their
sense of identity and lastly those who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This brings the characters to lose grasp of their origins, which in turn are also
losing a large part of their identities as well. As time progresses, the characters
forget that they are playing roles according to the Colonists whims. This is clearly
portrayed through Wole Soyinka s novel. As clearly displayed within the first act,
There is a distinctive culture apart from the British introduced which portrays the
different values and customs that the Africans perform. Amusa whom is an African
sergeant in the native administration police working for the white British
colonialists is an example of a puppet of colonialism turning against the Africans
systematic way of life through the adoption of British customs and values. Though
Amusa has converted towards the British Empire, he is still seen as inferior in
Pilking s eyes thus this shows that due to his origin, he will never be valued in the
eyes of a colonist. Amusa fears the Engungun costume yet aids the British in stopping
the African rituals, which deprive the African people of their beliefs. They don t
seem to realize that they are harming their own culture but rather see it as an alien
culture once they have fully adopted other methods of practice through the English
culture. Joseph is also a prime example of a character that has taken up a role within
the colonialist society through his acceptance of the catholic religion. Joseph is a
convert influenced by the British and believes that
23. The Call By Yannick Murphy
Book Review: The Call by Yannick Murphy One of Yannick Murphy s most
respected reads, The Call , was published in 2011 by HarperCollins Publishers.
Murphy s imaginative and tactical writing style creates a novel that takes the reader
on an emotional rollercoaster. In The Call , readers will be faced with question,
uncertainty, anger, and hardship, with welcomed highlights of family unity, humor
and undying passion. The unusual writing style at first seems unappealing but,
within a few pages the book quickly develops into a compelling read. The book
contains an assembly of diverse characters allowing readers to bond with the novel.
As someone who recently finished The Call and as my first Yannick Murphy
novel, I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the story. In a small town
of New England a close knit family lives in the outskirts of town enjoying all that
nature has to offer. Told as a narrative through David Appleton s log we learn a lot
about him, his wife Jen, and their three children Mia, Sarah and Sam. Additionally,
we meet many more characters through David s numerous veterinarian calls. In great
detail we are witnessed to both the delightful and unpleasant perks of David s work.
Oddly, an unknown caller turns up randomly throughout the novel. The strength of
the family is tested once a terrible hunting accident lands Sam in a comma. During
David s obsessive search to find out who hurt Sam he often believes the unknown
caller knows what happened to

In the satirical novel Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Werde, the main
character Cimorene is not a proper Medieval princess. She is a
kind, brave, adventurous princess who runs away to join forces with a fierce and
protective dragon named Kazul.Cimorene was justified in ignoring the expected
social norms of her family and society because she was simply not satisfied, she was

Cimorene was not satisfied is because she wants to do things her way,Cimorene
does not like to be told what to do and when to do it.Cimorene is justified by going

said that she did not want to marry him neither because he did not want to marry
her. This shows that she is not happy. This also illustrates that she does not like him
enough to marry him anyway. This is why Cimorene is justified for not getting
married. However, Cimorene does not want to get married. Some may say that she
is not justified because if she doesn t marry the prince then she is not being a good
proper princess. In the book Dealing with Dragons it says that when she found out
she was getting married she threw a fit,and if she married the prince then her life
would be miserable(p8).This shows that this is not princess like for her to not get to
the prince.Although some would argue that she is not justified, actually if she did

26. Mrs Mallards Health
The short story The Story of an Hour written by Kate Chopin is about a lady named
Mrs.Mallard who has a health issue that effects her life dramatically. When she is
told her husband has passed away due to an accident things change. This story
shows how it is difficult to deal with things within yourself which proves some
people grieve differently. Mrs. Mallard has a desire to be independent which is the
opposite of how society views things. In the very beginning of this story we find
out that Mrs. Mallards health condition is heart trouble. When her sister, Josephine,
finds out about her husbands death, she wants to make sure that the information
she has is correct before telling Mrs. Mallard. When anyone receives depressing
news your body reacts to it, so knowing that Mrs. Mallard has a heart condition,
Josephine has to be careful when relaying the news. For example, in the story it
says, It was her sister Josephine who told her, in broken sentences; veiled hints that
revealed in half concealing. This shows that her sister was trying to be careful with
how she relayed the message to keep from having a medical... Show more content on

beginning to recognize this thing that was approaching to possess her, and she
was striving to beat it back with her will as powerless as her two white slender
hands would have been. When she abandoned herself a little whispered word

27. Wes Anderson Influence
Lukas Hamlescher Dr. Neuendorf COM 320 Preliminary Draft Wes Anderson is a
staple in the independent film community. He writes, directs, and produces most
of his films. He takes time to develop stories unique to him and from each other.
Nonetheless, all of Anderson?s films have an undeniable familiarity between them
as he imprints his style on everything he creates. However, if he did not have
inspiration or influences for his films, his creativity and artistic flair may not have
a proper way to be displayed. His films could lack an essential essence whether in
diversity of plot or themes, etc. Perhaps without influences, Anderson would not be
a filmmaker at all. Fortunate for all fans of Anderson, he is inspired and does make
films for many all over the world to enjoy. Therefore, it is not only Anderson or any
of his co workers we have to thank for his films but his inspirations as well. This

It can also be said then that Anderson finds himself influenced by Ray not only
thematically in in terms of settings but in more in depth filmmaking tactics. For
example, part of Anderson?s style is centralized around precision of shot
composition, mise en scene, and choreography of characters. This takes focused
pre planning and a dedicated thought process. Ray admits to similar pre planning
and precision in his production phase of filming. In an interview from a book
entitled Satyajit Ray: Interviews, Ray is asked about the procedures of rehearsing
and setting up each shot. Ray responds, ?It?s all pre planned. If it?s a location thing
then I am there several days beforehand. I make several trips and decide based on the

28. Stacey Dooley Analysis
The movie watched in class was about a town in Great Britain called Luton. There
are a large amount of Pakistan and Muslim citizens living in the area. However, they
are more isolated into their own part of town because there is a huge gap between the
natives and refugees. Stacey Dooley, the main character throughout the movie, tried
to understand the point of views from both sides by putting herself in the shoes of the
refugees and natives. Throughout the movie, she talked to multiple Muslims and
natives to understand where the gap is coming from. Near the beginning of the
movie, Stacey talked to a Muslimspeaker about the issues that they face on a daily
basis. In his opinion, there were always people who made comments about Muslims.
However, it got much worse after the 9/11 attacks on the United States. He went on to
say that individuals think that all Muslims want to attack other humans; however,
that is clearly not the case. It is unfortunate that they are held to this standard due to
judging people just by their skin color or clothing. As the video continued, Stacey
joined a group of Muslim radicals that were protesting against the Great Britain
police force. The Muslims that she was walking along side with were extremist. The
radicals were chanting, British police go to hell. Stacey was disgusted with the harsh

Muslims do not speak to non Muslims and Sharia law is outrageous. Also, they went

29. Father Of Confederation Research Paper
Who is a father, and more importantly, who is a Father of Confederation? A
Father, in a literal definition, is a man who gives care and protection to someone or
something. George Washington was such a man, responsible for his patriots in the
fight against the British during the American Revolution. Confederation, on the other
hand, is when a group of people come together in a coalition, or fight, while working
together for a common cause. The lower class in France came together in the French
Revolution to fight against Louis XVI, and his intolerance towards them. Therefore,
Father of
Confederation must mean a man who brings people together to fight for a common
cause. There exists much controversy on whether the Metis, Louis ... Show more

One of the main parts that allows a country to function as a united whole is
transportation, especially a railway. John A. Macdonald wanted to construct a
railway from coast to coast, as part of his National dream to create a unified
Canada. This railway would allow the transportation of goods and people across
his great nation. Once again in 1885, friction broke out between the Metis and the
Canadian government. And now, with Louis Riel back in Canada, extra strain
was added on the already hard to deal with railway. In order to calm the Metis
resistance, Macdonald needed get troops, especially the North West Mounted
Police, to Manitoba. However, the parts of the Canadian Pacific Railway that
connected to Manitoba was not near completion. Therefore, John A. Macdonald
put extra pressure on the railway constructors to build as much of the railway as
they can, to get troops in Manitoba as fast as possible. Macdonald even devised his
own plan for the railway. Let Louis Riel make trouble. Then the canadian citizens
would see the necessity of the railway as a need for the national security of the
country, and using government money to finish the railway would be acceptable.
Louis Riel, whether he realized it or not, sped up the completion of the railway, to
the point that with the help of other people, it was finished in November of 1885;

she believes 2017 was the best year in human history. More specifically, Kelly

society. She writes, A smaller share of the world s people hungry, impoverished or

children died than ever before. In this passage, Kelly is suggesting that society
should also take a look and not miss the things that are going right. In conclusion,

32. Unstructured Interviewing Skills Essay
While anthropologists have many prominent skills, one of upmost importance is that
of interviewing. With greater attention to interpersonal relationships and
communication, anthropologists are in an excellent position to engage in a
multitude of interview styles, such as unstructured and semi structured interviews
(Schensul and LeCompte 2013). Unstructured interviewing allows for more
flexibility in the number and sequence of questions, as well as for greater freedom
in the respondent s answers. The goal of such interviewing is to elicit open ended
responses that flow more like a conversation; a benefit of this method is the way in
which in builds comfort and rapport with participants who may be beneficial later in
the study. A key aspect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another key skill anthropologists have developed is the ability to create and
administer meaningful and thoughtful structured surveys. Structured questionnaires, a
form of structured interviewing, are presented in the same manner to each
participant so as to control the input that triggers people s responses, thus allowing
for more reliable comparability (Bernard 2011, 187). Surveys are hardly restricted
to the field of anthropology, as they are immensely beneficial in the process of
describing and generalizing populations and are considered an extremely reliable and
valid methodology. However, anthropologists, as mentioned, are able to use their
skills of observation to create questionnaires that reveal meaningful data in a non
threatening and communicative way. Survey building requires skilled personnel, not
only in design, but also in implementation; there are numerous ways to administer a
survey, be that via telephone, computer, or face to face. While surveys are useful in
producing data useful in statistical analysis, there are drawbacks to this methodology,
especially when considering how the questionnaire is administered, therefore it is
critical to hire and properly train the appropriate staff (Bernard 2011). Nevertheless,
while every methodology is beneficial to research studies, even more so with
anthropologists at the helm, there are of
33. The Struggle In Kizzy Bellamy And Diamond
Realistic Fiction is as close to real life as life itself. The point of view the writer
plans to write in are first and third person omniscient. The narrator voice in third
person omniscient reveals the writer knows the thoughts and feelings of each
character. The audience is able to read and know each character objectively without
the influences of the narrator s personal feelings. Writing in the third person
omniscient takes skills, time and patients and rewrites before the writer has mastered
an omniscient voice.
The title, in fact, is symbolic of the different struggles Kizzy Bellamy and Diamond

34. Theme Of Female Autonomy In Beowulf
Does the poet use the female characters in Beowulf to reinforce the limits of female
autonomy?
In regard to female autonomy and Beowulf, it cannot be ignored that many of the
women portrayed in the poem were acting as expected of them in the time period, or
alternatively acting against it. The two main examples of this within Beowulf are the
characters of Wealtheow and Grendel s mother. Both of these women highlight how
this society impacts and limits female autonomy, but both women seemingly went
down different life paths and here I will examine how this relates to how female
autonomy in this world has impacted them. Wealtheow and Grendel s mother are
arguably the two most important female characters in Beowulf, and out of all the

While I only focused on two women in particular, there are many other instances of
women within Beowulf being literally sold off, being pushed to the side and
remaining quiet and letting the men of the society rule. The characters of
Wealtheow and Grendel s mother are two sides of a coin, with one living as a
queen but not really existing or forging her own values, and the other being shunned
for rejecting the patriarchal attitudes and finding her own rules to abide by. But yet,
both of these characters provided enough information on the society to highlight the
gross inequality that women or female figures at this time felt despite having only
minor parts in the life of the hero Beowulf, and to him (and all the other men)
neither of these women were more than a small blip on his radar. This subconscious
disregard of femininity on both Beowulf s and the entire society s part only serves to
limit the autonomy of the females who existed alongside them and to highlight my
points of how it

In 1764, during the Industrial Revolution, the textiles industry changed forever when
the first spinning machine was invented. The Royal Society of Arts offered a prize
for an invention that could spin six threads at once but would only need one person
to attend to it. One of the inventors that took to the challenge was James Hargreaves,
1720 to 1778, who produced the Spinning Jenny, a machine that mechanically
reproduced the actions of the hand spinner. The Spinning Jenny was significant to the
development and progress of the Industrial Revolutionand it also had a momentous

The 1764 invention, that wasn t patented until 1770, had eight smaller wheels,

the Spinning Jenny and how all eight different spindles were powered by a single
wheel. This meant that one spinster could produce eight threads in the same time it
had previously taken to produce one. This advance in spinning machinery meant that
the quality and strength of yarn and cloth was greatly improved. Hargreaves
invention best spun the short fibres of regular length, such as cotton. The cotton yarn
produced was considered to be of very good quality. However, the wool yarn from the
Spinning Jenny was quite unsatisfactory. This was due to the irregular lengths which

Canada s Legal System is based on the English and French systems, they base this
system on common law and civil law, also called Bijuralism. Common law is law

first look at the rules. Canada is a federation, which means it has a federal
parliament that makes laws for all of Canada, and a legislature in each provinces and

Civil law is usually between people or people and the government, they usually
deal with things like contracts, property, and personal injuries (also known as
torts). Public law can be relevant in both criminal cases and civil cases, when a
case show that the powers of the government or rights of the citizens under the
constitution or a federal law is involved in the case. An example of a public law case
would be a person accusing someone of revoking a constitutional right.
Disputes can sometimes be taken to court, although a large percentage is settled
outside of the courtroom. When taking a case to court there are two kinds, trial
courts, and appeals courts. Trial courts are where evidence is presented, witnesses
are questioned, and the case is put before a judge or a judge and jury. If one of the
parties is unhappy with the outcome they could appeal the case sending it to appeals
court. In appeals court the appellant submits its case to a panel of judges to review
the previous court s decision to either change the previous decision or continue with
the decision of the previous court. Legislation is only the beginning to the law, the
judicial system is what makes the law a reality and that is the court system.
Law effects the people even if the crime is never committed by that person, although
laws help to prevent crime, the laws help lead to resolutions after a crime has been

Due to this reason, most legacy software is in C. But in recent times, several
breaches in security and reliability have been found to occur due to lack of memory

Austin, Scott E. Breach, and Gurindar S. Sohi [1]. The idea here is to augment the
pointer representation in memory with the bounds of the pointer s target. Spatial
safety is enforced by checking these bounds whenever a pointer is dereferenced.
These fat pointers consist of the following parameters, value: The value of the safe
pointer; it may contain any expressible address., base and size: The base address of
the referent and its size in bytes, storageClass: The storage class of the allocation,
either Heap, Local, or Global., capability: When dynamic variables are created,
either through explicit storage allocation (e.g., calls to malloc()) or through
procedure invocations (i.e., a procedure call creates the local variables in the stack
frame of the procedure), a unique capability is issued to that storage allocation.
The value attribute is the only safe pointer member that can be manipulated by the
program source; all other members are inaccessible. base and size are the spatial

demanding for items from the tree, and the tree simply giving to the boy. The tree and
the boyВґs relationship are similar to a child and their parent. A parent is constantly

41. Tennis Serve Essay
A person s tennis serve wins or loses the match for him or her. With this in mind, a
player wanting a prodigious serve must follow a number of steps. All in all, the serve
is a vital part of one s tennis game that is built from the stance, toss, impact point, and
follow through.
A stellar serve begins with the proper stance. Correct foot placement plays a major
role in the positioning of the serve. To begin, the player should stand behind the
baseline on the right side of the court when aiming for the left service box and the
left side of the court when aiming for the right service box. He or she should stand
closer to the center mark for singles and farther away for doubles. These different
positions assist in coverage of the court and maintaining a solid serve. His or her feet
should be shoulder width apart and spread with the left foot farther in front than the
right foot, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Players should aim to hit the ball in the center of the racket head because that is
most commonly the desired sweet spot . After his or her toss is in the proper spot
in the air, he or she should jump to make contact with the ball in the sweet spot .
This approach will give any player an advantage on court.
The simplest concept of the serve is the follow through. The follow through is simply
continuing to bring your body forward through the ball and out onto the court to
maintain proper positioning of the ball. Also, a player should continue to move his or
her racket across the body until the palm of the right hand is touching the left hip. A
proper follow through ensures momentum and stabilizes the body to be ready to
begin the rally when the ball is returned from the opponent.
In review, the serve in tennis is very crucial, but it can also be broken down into
simple and achievable steps. The wanted results may not happen every time, but with
these guidelines and dedication, a player will be ready for the USTA Pro Circuit in no

4. Advantages of the Star Network Design
It is the most cost effective strategy for cash strapped businesses with no special
emphasis on security. Sometimes the cheapest design doesn t always translate into
the easiest design. In this case, the translation is a success. The hub will serve as the
intermediary between the computers and the internet (via cable modem). Also, in this
case, easy design also translate into easy troubleshooting of any network problem.
The star network allows troubleshooters to isolate issues on the network instead of
taking the entire local network offline. Moreover, the star network implies direct
data flow from the computers (via hub) to the internet instead of the data flowing
through the nodes first. Hence, speed is a benefit of such a network. In addition,
because of the direct data flow methodology (nodes to hub to modem to internet and
vice versa), the data is safe. Finally, the star network allows for expansion of nodes,
hubs, and gateways without losing any of the networks advantages listed on this
page. The owner plans to eventually add 7 more computers to the network. My
recommendation is to purchase an additional hub to manage the 7 additional
computers. Also, an additional modem is needed for load balancing purposes.

The Cash Flow Sensitivity of Sash
Research Question Does the link between financial constraints and firms demand for
liquidity can help us identify whether financial constraints are an important
determinant of firm behavior. Contribution Previous scholars, Fazzari, Hubbard, and
Petersen, proposed that investment activities of a firm is limited by the firm s
financial situation, which is called financial constraints. When firms face financial
constraints, the firm s investment cash flow sensitivity is high. When a firm face no
financial constraints, its investment cash flow sensitivity is low. However this theory
was doubtful by some scholars. In 1997, Kaplan and Zingales propose an exactly
opposite theory. In 2001, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The authors further test the intuition of our argument by investigating firms
propensity to save cash out of cash inflow over the business cycle.
Result
The authors use two alternative method to empirically model the cash flow
sensitivity of cash. The first model only include proxies: cash flow and investment
opportunities. The second model is estimated from a method in which a firm s
decision to change its cash holdings is modeled as a function of a number of
sources and uses of funds. The result reported in table III is related to the first
model. The set of constrained firms shows significantly positive sensitivities of cash
to cash flow sensitivities. The sensitivity estimates for constrained firms are between
0.051 and 0.062 and are all statistically significant at better than the 1% level.
The result reported in table IV is related to the second model. This finding is
consistent with the view that there are systematic difference between constrained and
unconstrained firms in the way they conduct their cash policies.
Paper s Findings
By conducting this study, the authors conclude that financial constraints and firm s
liquidity demand can help identify whether financial constraints can
45. Alzheimer s Neuropathology
The Neuropathology of Alzheimer s Disease In 1907, reports became available on
the autopsy completed by neuroanatomist and neurologist Alois Alzheimer
(Swerdlow, 2007). His patient, Auguste D. was known to be suffering from
memory problems. His autopsy on her brain demonstrated an overall cell loss with
a significant reduction in the size of gyri accompanied with increased sulci size as
well as a multitude of plaques and tangles once analyzed at a microscopic level.
Since this was the first case study associated with plaques and tangles in the brain,
there was an opportunity to put a new to this new condition that Auguste D. suffered
from. Emil Kraepelin, chairman of Alzheimer s academic department, did just that.
She filed to have presenile... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the years many researchers have progressed in our knowledge base of the
pathology behind beta amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. This
understanding of pathology has created several new clinical trials that have allowed
us to come closer to understanding the complexity of Alzheimer s. Unfortunately, we
are still unsure if the plagues and tangles that are seen in autopsy are responsible for
Alzheimer s or just expressed symptoms of an undiscovered neuropathology. Many
hypotheses float around to explain the cause of these plagues and filaments, but we
are years away from finding concrete evidence to defend or prove these
46. Meditation On The Practice Of Meditation
I found that the best way that I could develop more attentive and more appreciative
eyes was, oddly, by going nowhere, just by sitting still (Iyer). Throughout centuries,
meditation has been utilized for spiritual guidance. Meditation is often practiced
within quiet rooms, where one cannot be disturbed. In the recent years, meditationhas
expanded beyond the homes of individuals. Schools across the nation have begun
researching the benefits of meditation on students. The practice of meditation in
schools has been shown to promote positive behavior in students; therefore it should
be implemented in schools. The practice of meditation can be defined as physical,
mental, emotional and spiritual training through various techniques. Meditation can
be categorized into two different groups, both focusing on a systematic approach
towards attention and self regulation (Helber, Zook, Immergut 350). Specific types of
meditation include mindfulness meditation, transcendental meditation, mindfulness
based stress reduction, and mindfulness based cognitive therapy ( Sitting Meditation
Interventions ). The practice of meditation can be traced as far back as 5000 years
ago. Meditation was first thought to be practiced by hunter gatherers, as evidenced
by archaeological findings from the era ( A Short But Fascinating History ). Research
has suggested that hunter gathers continually passed down the practice of meditation
to generations, which developed the foundation of
47. Philosophy Of Special Education
It is believed that all students have specific, varying needs and learning styles. As an
educator, it is my duty to meet the needs of every individual and make
accommodations; especially in regards to a student with an exceptionality. Special
education should not be a separate division of a school but rather an integral piece to
complete the entire structure. Students with exceptionalities should be given the
exact opportunities that an able bodied student would have in areas such as, but not
limited to, educationand extracurriculars. They should be encouraged to participate
with their fellow peers and build relationships with students of all personalities and
characteristics. Maintaining a level playing field in all aspects of a student s
48. Essay On Bigger Thomas In The Native Son
Bigger, a protagonist and controversial character in The Native Son, made a
number of mistakes and he was indeed very much responsible for his actions.
Bigger Thomas, a 20 year old who lives in poverty in a one bedroom apartment
with his mother and two siblings, has experienced racism has whole life. Bigger
grew up to believe that white people were better than the blacks and were to be
treated better than the whites also; in result, Bigger became angry and when in
fear he turned to violence. Bigger Thomas kept his emotions hidden inside and
when in fear he reacted violently. There were a number of occasions in which
Bigger reacted violently because of fear. In a certain scene in The Native son
(pages 28 30), Bigger and his friends planned to rob a store, but the only problem
was it was owned by a white man. Bigger and his friends never robbed a white man
before and made them skeptical but Bigger was the one who came up with the
idea so he couldn t back out. They decided to meet at Doc s poolroom before going
to Blum s and when Gus showed up late, Bigger started a fight with Gus to take his
friends mind off robbing Blum s. This wasn t the only incident in which Bigger
resulted to violence because of fear; in fact, In the Native Son (pages 86 92) Bigger

Some choose to prove that they are, in fact, as good the whites, but some choose to
rebel against the white s and society. They choose to rebel against the way they are
accustom to living and turn to the life of crime because they feel it s the only way
out. Bigger has had a pretty hard life but that is not an excuse nor should it be an
exception. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away
from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians
49. The Key Term And Why You Are Interested
Discussion Board # 4
Johan Rivera
Liberty University
KEY TERM and WHY YOU ARE INTERESTED IN IT This academic paper will
be exploring the key term, joint ventures. This concept is of interest because in today
s business environment due to the economy downfall, many organizations recourse to
this strategy in order to easily infiltrate in a foreign market. Companies are seeking
more opportunities to expand their market share and a joint venture is an attractive
option to do so. Getting involved with a foreign market come with several obstacles
and challenges. It is for the same reason that organizations engage in a joint venture
whit a partner that knows and understand the culture and preferences of that specific
nation.
EXPLANATION OF THE KEY TERM Join ventures usually involve an alliance
where two or more companies contribute assets, which results in the formation of a
new legal entity (Satterlee, 2014, p. 228). Whit this strategy companies can do
business in international markets but have a partner that will ease the process by
helping with the start up and management of the new corporation. Organizations will
be able to compete in a foreign market in a cost effective and successful way. This
strategy can increase the profit of an organization, however, if effective planning is
not incorporated, it can be a major failure that will result in profit loss.

This is a network proposal to connect six computers and two printers. The purpose of
the project is to ensure the six employees can be able to; share files electronically
print to both laser printers access each other s calendars and share an Internet
connection. Requirements
Network Interface Card
A network interface card is already present in the computers. The purpose of the
network card is to enable the computers to connect together using a protocol in order
to transfer packets of data. In order to connect the computers, a form of connection is
required that links the computers. In this case the form of connection used will be
ethernet (Science Opposing Views, 2014).

Microsoft Office Professional 2013 contains the drivers and software needed to
connect the printers to the computers. Outlook Express software will be required for
the purpose of sharing a calendar.
Accessing files
Once one of the computers is properly configured as a file server, users can access
the storage by mapping the drives on the respective computers. The file server will
be mapped as a drive and users can store, edit and access files directly from the
shared storage disk. The disk will be connected to each computer. For example, when
a user needs to access any file from the file server, he/she can access the drive that
will now be mapped on the every computer (Science Opposing Views, 2014).
Printing
Once the printers have been configured to the print server. The six computers will be
connected to the server through LAN. When a user prints a document, the computer
will first connect to the server, after which the server sends the print job to the
allocated printer. Each computer will be allocated a printer. One of the printers will
be primary, and the second one the secondary.
51. Technology In The Pedestrian By Ray Bradbury
In my story ВЁThe PedestrianВЁ the story takes place in 2052 and is based
around technology. The main character s name is Leonard and he is a very lonely
character who likes to experience the real world. Leonard likes to walk at night
while everyone else is inside watching tv. When he walks at night all of the streets
are vacant as he describes as he has been walking for many years and thousands of
miles and he had never seen anyone else in all of time he had been walking. The
theme of the story ВЁThe PedestrianВЁ is technology taking over society.
Leonard exemplifies that technology can lead to negative consequences. Ray

52. Character Analysis Of Joe Rantz In The Boys In The Boat
Though all the members of the team are important characters, Joe Rantz is
undoubtedly the novel s protagonist. Trace Joe s character development from his
childhood to his gold medal finish in Berlin. How does Joe grow as a character?
What does he learn about himself and the world, and in what ways does he
change? Throughout The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest
for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Joe Rantz shows the traits of a common
protagonist. Joe grows throughout the book as a person and an athlete in order to
eventually push himself to win the gold medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. This
book is a great example of how despite his setbacks it didn t stop him from living
his life and chasing his dreams in winning the Olympics. Joe grows as a character
throughout the book, his life began at a very young age when his mother Nellie
died of throat cancer, this left Joe growing up without having a good mother figure
in his life. Not only that, but Joe was also really sick at a young age by contracting
scarlet fever. So he would be staying at his aunt Alma s home, where he was raised
as a young child. Later on when he turned five years old, he went to go back to
living with Harry and his newly wedded wife Thula. Harry Rantz packed his family
into his Franklin touring car and headed northeast, to the mining camp where he had
been working as a master mechanic for the past year. (Brown 71). The longer Thula
and Joe lived together, the bond between them
53. Plebe Monologue
In preparation for writing this letter, I took the liberty of investigating the life of a
Midshipman, particularly the life of a Plebe. As I sifted through the details of your
unimaginably rigorous summer, my mind swelled with a pervasive sentiment of
admiration for you and your fellow Plebes. Strength, fortitude, courage, selflessness,
and genius come in many forms, and what is perhaps the most awe inspiring
characteristic of the Plebe summer is that it encapsulates all of these intangibles and
more in a highly concentrated, intense manner. Trying to consider and internalize
just how courageous you are is a frivolous exercise; I will never comprehend the
commitment you make, never comprehend the devotion you give, never
comprehend the selflessness you exude, never comprehend the fortitude you
possess. Because of my academic successes and social priorities, several individuals
have celebrated me as a motivated and nice or good person, but when I compare
myself to you, your motivation and goodness indubitably surpass my own, and for
that fact I gain nothing but an unquantifiable respect and admiration for you; you are
an extraordinary person, and I use the word extraordinary judiciously.... Show more

Arthur Ashe, of whom you may know as a famous Tennis player who died by HIV or
