Researched Argument Essay Example
Crafting a Researched Argument Essay can be a challenging endeavor that demands a
combination of critical thinking, thorough research, and effective communication skills. The
difficulty lies not only in presenting a compelling argument but also in the meticulous process of
gathering and analyzing relevant information. To create a well-rounded essay, one must delve
into diverse sources, ranging from academic journals to reputable publications, ensuring the
incorporation of various perspectives.
The complexity intensifies when considering the need for a coherent structure, logical
progression of ideas, and the synthesis of data to support the thesis. Striking a balance between
the breadth and depth of information can be daunting, requiring the writer to navigate through a
sea of facts and theories to construct a convincing narrative. Additionally, maintaining
objectivity while articulating a clear stance on the issue under consideration is a delicate task, as
the essay should be both persuasive and rooted in evidence.
Furthermore, the process involves continuous refinement and revision. Achieving clarity of
expression and cohesion in argumentation often demands multiple iterations. Each draft is an
opportunity to refine the thesis, strengthen supporting evidence, and enhance the overall
persuasiveness of the essay.
In conclusion, developing a Researched Argument Essay is a challenging undertaking that
demands a combination of intellectual rigor, research skills, and effective communication. It is an
intricate dance between the exploration of diverse viewpoints and the crafting of a compelling
argument. However, with dedication and perseverance, one can overcome these challenges to
produce a persuasive and well-researched essay.

K-T Boundary Research Papers
It started with a study of fossils. Walter Alvarez, an American geologist, was
studying fossils in rock formations near Gubbio, Italy, in the 1970 s when he found
that there were distinctly different fossils (the sizes and types of organisms were
completely different) in the layers of limestone above and below a very thin
(about 1cm) layer of clay. He also determined that there were no fossils at all in the
clay layer. Everywhere he looked in that area he found the same thing. He
wondered what could have happened to cause such a change in the types of fossils
he was seeing. He questioned how much time it may have taken for that kind of
change to occur, and he questioned how much time was represented by the layer of
clay where there were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A Dutch geologist named Jan Smit found the same types of formations, fossil
evidence, and clay layer in Spain, and had the same questions. These questions and
subsequent investigations, studies, and experiments, led to the discovery of the K T
Boundary, the dividing line between the Cretaceous and Tertiary Periods and the end
of the Mesozoic Era about 65 million years ago. These discoveries and the search for
answers led to work by a diverse group of scientists from a number of different
disciplines finding evidence of a catastrophic event in the history of the Earth, and the
hypothesis of an asteroid impact that would have led to mass destruction of life (plant
and animal), including the extinction of the dinosaurs. This hypothesis was met with
disbelief in the scientific community. Some geologists pointed out that, of the
dinosaur bones that had been found up to that time, the closest to the K T Boundary
were still three meters below it, showing that dinosaurs would have already been
extinct when this event occurred. Another problem was that an event of this
magnitude would have left a crater so large that it would be easy to find, and there
was no evidence of one that
Nationalism Is A Political Ideology Essay
INTRODUCTION: Nationalism is a political ideology. It generally involves the
identification of a state. According to Hans Kohn, Nationalism is an idea, an idea
force which fills man s brain and heart with new thoughts and sentiments and
drives him to translate his consciousness into deeds of organized action (Agarwal,
1996). Usually we can see two forms of nationalism. One is liberal nationalism and
the other is aggressive nationalism. Because of liberal nationalism, different
countries of the world could achieve their independence. On the contrary,
aggressive nationalism creates danger for a country. World War I and World War
II are examples of aggressive nationalism. Liberal nationalism is concerned with
justice or peace. On the other hand, aggressive nationalism is concerned with
injustice or war. Nationalism creates the national feelings in the minds of the
people of a country. With this national feeling, people of a country can make the
cultural, political and economic development. Nationalism takes different forms at
different stages of the process of development of a nation or state (Karim, 1992).
There are different castes and religions in our country. People of all castes and
religions live together peacefully in our country because of liberal nationalism.
Bangladesh has a historical legacy of its nationalism. The people of Bangladesh had
started struggling for the independence from 1857. Lords of Britain had suppressed
us a lot but we did not lose our courage
Essay on Similes in The Big Sleep
Similes in The Big Sleep
In response to Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep, I have just one question. Why
all the similes? There isn t a single page in the novel that doesn t display this
annoying literary device. Everything is like this or like that. It never ends! Similar to
decoding a secret message that isn t difficult to understand, but nevertheless tiring due
to the overwhelming amount of messages, the novel is frustrating to read. The
following analysis acknowledges Chandler s creativity in developing his main
character, Philip Marlowe, with his usage of simile. However, the excessive style of
the novel creates a dominating force that ultimately leaves the reader unfulfilled at
the end.
Chandler goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The smile would wash off like water off sand and her pale skin had a harsh granular
texture under the stunned and stupid blankness of her eyes (64). This is a rather
harsh observation, yet is important in realizing Chandler s excessive use of simile.
His analogies are often lost when he compares every type of characteristic; whether it
is external or internal, positive or negative. The Sternwood daughters are two
different characters whom Marlowe observes in contrasting ways. Using numerous
similes to describe both characters simply confuses this difference.
It is from this standpoint that the novel is absolute drudgery completing. Simile
after simile is overlooked because they are too numerous to count. The reader
accepts Chandler s analogous style and skims over it in order to solve the mystery
in their lifetime. Marlowe gives an astute observation that is often lost because the
reader s mind has swelled into a ball of oozing muck from the heavy dosage of
similes. However, this problem is a small droplet in an overwhelming sea of
redundancy that Chandler whole heartedly navigates to perilous depths.
Not only are the similes potentially overlooked, they also create a bigger problem in
deterring readers from finding the more interesting themes, such as truth and loyalty,
in the novel. If they skim over the similes, they will most likely skim over some of
these important, and interesting, themes. His interactions with
Korean Pop
Korea had become trendy because it provided what the youth wanted throughout the
region. The phenomenon can be partially explained by noting how Korean popular
culture catapulted forward during the 1990s, leaving much of Asia behind as it
abandoned conservatism and censorship, diversifying, appropriating, absorbing and
innovating. In its fusions, it created an Asian equivalent of European and American
pop. Japanese pop, of course, had long had this function throughout the region, but
the 1990s was a time for re examining the Pacific War s legacy, and Korea offered a
less tainted alternative to Japan. Keith Howard Background of the StudyThe global

Fandoms are usually implied to be those crazy, raving fans, mostly female ones,
who always stalk (in Korean pop vocabulary, *spazz) their Korean pop idols. They
are usually thought of as obsessive, brainless and foolish people. People who
criticize them just do not know how passionate these fandoms are. Although they
are known for showing their support through watching their Korean pop idols and
buying Korean pop merchandise, they go beyond than that; these fandoms also
organize parties and charitable events to help the needy and at the same time, to
mingle with their fellow KPop fans. Through this, it can be observed that Filipinos
form these groups so that they can socialize with other people who also have the
same inclinations, as demonstrated by the subculture of KPop fans, in the
country, flamed by activities of fandoms. More than a recreation and hobby, for
KPop fans, it is their happiness and fulfillment to support their idols. Through a

Mrs Compson
In the Sound and the Fury, the role of Mrs. Compson is perceived by the public as
largely negative, as a non caring mother who lets her family fall apart, the downfall
of the once great aristocratic Compson family. However, Ulrike NГјssler s scholarly
article, published in William Faulkner: German Responses, portrays Mrs. Compson
as the victim of Southern nobility. The focus of his essay is that her behavior stems
from the social pressures from her socioeconomic class. NГјssler argues that Mrs.
Compson s frailty and hypochondria stem from the pressures put on her by the
largely patriarchal and wealthy class that her familyis part of. As a member of this
class, Mrs. Compson really takes Southern aristocratic etiquette to heart, trying

Compson is a victim of the Old Southern society is very eye opening for readers.
Seemingly, after reading the book, Mrs. Compson is an antagonist, the reason for
the Compson family s destruction. However, after reading Nussler s article, this
belief is disproved and the blame put upon her is lessened. These Southern
aristocratic ways of life are directly responsible for this overlying theme of pride
which leads Mrs. Compson to lose her maternal instincts, abuse Dilsey, fail to make
good investments, and get help from others. She is obsessed with her family s
reputation which creates all of her flaws/shortcomings. The Southern code really
influences all her decisions and the way she acts aloof around her family members.
When she reverted to her maiden name, Bascomb, towards the end of the novel, she
demonstrated that not only had she never really been part of the Compson family, but
that she didn t think her family had ever followed the Southern aristocratic etiquette
closely enough. Everything she does is to follow that etiquette which harms those
around her because she makes bad decisions. NГјsser is on point with his analogy
that because she s a victim of societal pressures, she harms her

How Does Shakespeare Create A Sympath In Macbeth
William Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Macbeth, written in 1606, and is
renowned for being Shakespeare s bloodiest tragedy. The play is also known for its
complex and infamous characters including the protagonist, Macbeth. It is important
that Shakespeare does not allow the readers to despise the Macbeth, Shakespeare
must have the readers sympathize with him instead. Shakespeare must make the
reader have a sense of understanding with the protagonist, he must make them have
feelings of pity and sorrow for Macbeth s misfortunes. Shakespeare maintains the
readers sympathy for Macbeth, by having him experience despair and adversity
throughout the play.
Initially, Shakespeare allows the readers to sympathize with Macbeth by having him
endure being manipulated by others. Macbeth comes to the conclusion that he should
not kill the king, however when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

what he has done, he feels guilty for his crimes almost immediately after he has

the death of Banquo which cause the hallucination of Banquo s ghost. Macbeth

Dubliners By James Joyce s Dubliners
In James Joyce s Dubliners, the reader experiences the different lives of Dublin s
inhabitants. Each Dubliner has different problems, fears, hopes, and dreams, which
allows culminates into many different perspectives. Joyce masterfully writes the daily
lives of these people without any romanticism. The Dublinersstories are a small
snippet into their full lives, while the reader does not get the full story, he does not
need to. Not much may seem to happen in the stories, but profound themes and
messages are hidden beneath the words. In the story An Encounter, a group of
boys imagine they are in the Wild West, while staging mock battles of cowboys vs.
Indians. The story includes many encounters that present themselves as ordinary;
however this is far from true. In fact, the story is largely commentating on often
mocking Irish religious life and escapism. In the beginning of the story one of the
boys, Leo Dillon, is scolded by Father Butler for reading The Half Penny Marvel.
Father Butler considers the comic as nonsense and tells Leo that his Roman
History is far more cultured and important (Joyce 12). A religious figure like
Father Butler is common among Joyce s works, as he has always shown contempt
for religion. In a sense, Father Butler creates structure for the boys, but it is
monotonous and rigid. Clearly Father Butler does not approve of Leo s fascinations
for the Wild West so he condemns him. The lack of support for imagination or
freedom is snuffed out by a
Ereader Case Study Essay
Data is an important component used by all technology and businesses to gain
insights and refine their marketing techniques to improve customer experience.
Through the use of data analysis companies can capture a large amount of data, and
retrieve information regarding the company s trends. In Richard s case using data
analytics allows him to gain better insights on customer behaviors, in which he was
able to determine which factors influence a user to purchase the eReader early. These
factors will allow the team to develop new businessmodels and improve their
marketingstrategies to capture these individuals ( Big Data Analytics , 2017). For

Additionally, I was able to learn how to use RapidMiner to clean and analyze the
data to determine the confidence level that a user would purchase a eReader. For
example, for the user ID of 19889, we can say with a confidence score of 0.410
that the user would be an early adopter of the product. Moreover, I have learned the
importance of cleaning data and the impact dirty data has on the analysis of a
situation. Any outliers, missing, and empty data can skew and impact the creation
of a model that best fits the organization s strategy and question. This analysis
provides the company with the information as to how to improve their marketing
strategies to attract certain customers to purchase the eReader early. As a data
engineer, I focus on extracting and loading the data into a useable format for the
data scientists and analyst to use and perform data models. I hope to use the
knowledge learned in this course to determine if the data being loaded is usable for
the teams and the methods I can take to present a clean dataset. Presenting an
accurate model can be the difference between a company s success and failure for

Importance and Relevance of Cultural Stories
Cultural Stories Cultural narratives reveal aspects of their indigenous culture while
at the same time reflecting universal truths. This paper examines three stories that
are germane to their native culture while also dealing with the universal theme of
individuation, the process by which one becomes aware of oneself, distinct from
other people. Each of the stories were written by authors from different cultures:
Hansel and Gretel was written by The Brother s Grimm in Germany, The Wolf and
The Lamb is an Aesop s Fable from Greece, and The Jungle Book is a set of stories
written by Rudyard Kipling in England. Although The Wolf and The Lamb and The
Jungle Book each feature animal characters, they are anthropomorphized to the extent
that they still incorporate the individuation process as a prominent trope. In each of
the stories, the main character undertakes the journey from innocence to experience
and must learn how to assert and defend himself in the face of danger and adversity.
Although Hansel and Gretel features two (eponymous) main characters rather than
one, the story still addresses the need for children to undertake the process of
individuation and fend for themselves rather than relying on one s elders. At the
beginning of the story, Hansel and Gretel are naиЄ°ve; they rely on their parents,
neither of whom can adequately care for them (they are cold and underfed), yet the
two children are also unable to adequately care for themselves. For example,
Where To Place Wally
Facts Wally had been identified as a student with Emotional Behavior Disorders
(EBD) upon enrolling to kindergarten. He has attended 7 schools throughout his
educational career due to his behavioral issues as well as his family moving. During
this time frame various strategies have been implemented to determine the most
appropriate learning environment for Wally.
Issue
The issue in the case Where to Place Wally is whether or not the district took all of
the appropriate steps to prove that Wally could not be successful in a general
education classroom. The court is responsible for determining if Wally s current
placement is the least restrictive environment for him.
Rule
Federal law guarantees all students a free appropriate public education in the least

placement issues. (Beare, P., Torgerson, C. , 2009, pg. 7) This rule has been set up

The district felt that due to his aggression, it was not safe for students or staff to have
him in general education classes.
The district argued that the Individuals with Disabilities Education act (IDEA) does
not state that a district must exhaust all possible services before an alternative
placement for a student (U.S. Department of Education, 2004). IDEA applies to
Wally s case in that this act discusses the issue of whether or not a student s
behavioral issues are related to their disability.
The judge stated in regards to mainstreaming,
to the maximum extent appropriate and provides that when the nature or severity of
the handicap is such that education and regular classes with the use of supplementary
aids and services cannot be achieved satisfactorily the student may be removed to a
special education environment. (Beare, P., Torgerson, C. , 2009, pg. 7)

My First Job At Dsw
Upon applying to my first job at DSW as a high school student, the only thought in
my mind was the ability to make my own money and spend it how I choose.
However, now as I am about to graduate, I have acquired more wisdom and

equation to truly being satisfied with a job. The other parts of the equation include:
management, the team, challenges, and a company s values.
Management is key when it comes to applying for a job. Matter of fact it is so
important that I was advised by the mentors in my life to keep that in the forefront

The Problem Of Car Accidents
Introduction and background Since the creation of automobiles in 1769, the
number of cars on the roads has drastically increased and with it the number of car
accident. In the United Stated there have been a total of 32,719 car accident; in the
year 2013 that either did or did not involve pedestrians or cyclist. The
overcrowding of streets and large number of car accidents can be attributed to the
large influx of cars. While the number of accident in Texas is high standing at
3,382 as of 2013; a large amount; 10% of those accident took place in Harris
County, in comparison to other counties in Texas that have less than .1%. Car
accidents have many causes such as running red lights, drinking and driving,
speeding, use of mobiles, lack of sleep and vigilance while preforming the task of
driving. These actions caused numerus deaths of the drivers, passengers, and
pedestrians. Which is also why the leading cause of death in children is car
accidents. Problem The problem at its core of car accidents is the overcrowding of
the roads; which is not only a social issue but a financial issues due to the huge
costs that are placed on the public and the government in order to cover an accident;
while cost is a term that is more than often used to discuss money, in this instance it
will also be used to not only describe money but also monetary gain through an
occupation. While the majority of the expenses are covered by the people that were
involved in the incident there are also the
Christian Life Coaches Book Review
In conclusion, it is essential to recognize, that coaches encourage and assist the
client(s) to construct better skills, vision, growth through life transitions, guide the
client through their spiritual journey and speak the truth in love (Collins, 2009).
Also, coaches will help people set goals and plan ways to reach these goals. In other

accountability so the individual (client) can overcome barriers and experience
triumph. A Christian life coach is there for you, prayerfully listening to your concerns

Silence as a Character in Krapp s Last Tape Krapp, a cantankerous old man
attempting to relive his best years by listening to a tape he recorded on his thirty
ninth birthday in Beckett s Krapp s Last Tape , constantly pauses and allows silence
to overwhelm him and his thoughts. By allowing the invasion of silence into the play,
the spotlight is taken off of Krapp in a one man play supposedly about Krapp, as he
cannot maintain controlat the most basic level. The play begins and concludes with
silence, and therefore silence is the first characterthe audience meets in the play,
demonstrating its importance in controlling Krapp and his actions through the story.
Throughout the play, silence constantly appears, whether in namesake or in the form
of relentless pauses in Krapp s speech, and dominates Krapp and his language. Krapp,
in constantly submitting to the ever present enemy of silence, demonstrates that he
has no control over the story that is supposed to center around himself, and that
silence is the character to overwhelm Krapp because it represents his fundamental
flaw, his loneliness. The play opens on stage directions describing Krapp s den, and
does not introduce the only material character in the story until four lines in (247).
When Krapp, the main character, is introduced and described as an unkempt man, it
is revealed immediately that he cannot take care of himself. Although the play is
focused around and named after Krapp, he cannot hold attention upon

competition is a must. Team A recommends that Landslide must offer similar or
improved benefits to their employees. Further, Landslide should offer a training
program to entry level employees so that the service is exceptional and customers
will continue to utilize their business. Compensation and Benefits Strategy When
running an organization, managers and other members of leaders needs to take a
look at the compensation and benefit strategy. A strategic plan for employee
compensation determines how much you want to pay employees and what type of
employees you want to attract. Your compensation plan entails a variety of aspects
including pay scales, reward programs, benefits packages and company perks. A
successful strategic compensation plan allows your business to compete in the
market for the best employees in your industry ( Strategic Plan for Employee
Compensation and Benefits , 2014). Here are a few recommendation I would make to
help with the creation of a compensation and benefit strategy plan. Attracting Quality
Employees Your strategic plan for compensation plays a large role in attracting
Management Style Of The Joint Stock Company
According to Peter Drucker, one of the most prominent business gurus of recent times,
management is a timeless, human discipline. It has been used to build the Great Wall
of China, to run empires and armies throughout history, and guide the development of
the joint stock company, which has been the key institution in the development of the
joint stock company which has been the key institution in the development of modern
capitalism. If there is a lack of communicationin an organisation there is tendency
that the organisation will fail in achieving its goals and objectives more so, if there
is lack of encouragement in terms of motivation as regards to salaries or better still
working hours of the employees are not suitable for them the level of absenteeism
will rise and recruiting an inexperience managers will only worsen the case.
Organisations should be very careful when choosing the managementstyle in order
not to create chaos within the employees and also chose a suitable management
style that welcomes equality and diversity principles so as to create a good working
atmosphere and embrace all cultures within and outside the organisation
environment. There are several ways to correct all these problems in an organisation
and for the purpose of this course work, i will start to address the issue one after the
other and the very first step to take in this research is from the structure of the
organisation.
Organisational Structure is a formal system of task and
Relationship Between Glucose And Sucrose
The independent research project is designed to test the relationship between
amounts of sucrose and glucose produced and its conversion to carbon dioxide
through the process of cellular respiration. The familiar white granules commonly
used for baking are known as table sugar or sucrose. Sucrose consists of glucoseand
fructose, which are forms of sugars that are the most basic types of carbohydrates.
The breakdown of sugars occur through chemical processes and ultimately, results in
production of carbon dioxide. The use of enzymes is required to create this process.
An enzyme speeds up the process of breaking down sucrose into glucose. Sucrose
and glucose are considered to be carbohydrates and more specifically known as
simple sugars. Glucose is a monosaccharide and helps build the disaccharide known
as sucrose. Enzymes are proteins and they help make multiple different chemical
reactions faster. In humans, the enzyme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This includes cells in our bodies as well as cells found in foods like yeast. ATP is a
specific molecule that provides energy in a form that cells can use for cellular
processes. Cellular respiration is a process that cells use to transfer energy from
the organic molecules in food to be released into ATP energy and carbon dioxide.
The release of energy from organic molecules and precisely glucose is an example
of cellular respiration. Energy is essential for growth, repair, and movement in
living organisms. Cellular respiration allows the cells to use the energy from each
glucose molecule more efficiently in order to make as many ATP molecules as
possible and produce high levels of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a colorless
gas that is crucial to all living organisms on this planet. Carbon dioxide production
can be directly related to the energy production from fermentation. It is these complex
cellular processes that will be further examined in this research
Comparison Of Macbeth And Lady Macbeth
Contrast Comparison of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
While analyzing the two main characters in Shakespeare s tragic play Macbeth,
critics have often argued about their true nature and inner coherence. Despite the
effort made, very rarely are the characters presented as their true self, without the
inclusion of psychoanalytical theories and other studies. Consequently, this essay s
primary goal is to analyze and discuss the main characteristics of the Macbeth couple
and how they relate with each other by using nothing but a careful reading of the
thoughts and actions of each of the characters and no external influence or studies
whatsoever.
The first thing that the Macbeth couple share is the malicious influence exerted on
them by the Weird Sisters. On the one hand, Macbeth is directly faced with the
witches, who tell him of his new title of Thane of Cawdor (a fact that the audience
already knows from what King Duncan said to the nobles after hearing the bleeding
captain s report) and more importantly, of his future kingship, with Banquo being
Lesser than Macbeth, and greater. /[Getting] kings, though thou be none (Macbeth I.
iii. 66 68). The immediate fulfillment of this prophecy in the arrival of Ross and
Angus, bringers of Macbeth s new title wrongly leads the newly crowned Thane of
Cawdor to assess the witches intention as good, therefore freeing from his mind the
murderous thoughts that he supposes will allow him the Crown. In light of these
events, because of Malcolm s
Tim Beckman Violations In Sports
Tim Beckman, the head coach of The Fighting Illini collegiate football was fired
for allegations of mismanaging the health of student players on Friday, Aug. 28.
Athletic director Mike Thomas made the decision based on reviews. The
University of Illinois had a press conference regarding the issue at 4 p.m. ET. The
Chicago Tribune interviewed 50 players who were coached by Beckman and a law
firm interviewed 90 people while investigating allegations of misconduct. Beckman
was accused of pressuring players into playing despite physical injuries. Both of
those findings are unsettling violations of University policy and practice and do not
reflect the culture that we wish to create in athletic programs for our young people,

Feminism One Of The Biggest Topics Today And Is Defined
Feminism one of the biggest topics today and is defined as the public support of the
rights of women on the basis of equality of the sexes. In fact, the main reason
feminism is such a popular topic is because of how men were treated as the dominant
gender .
Back then, women were given specific roles by society to be housewives and only
cook and take care of the children. The idea of feminism, however, did slowly
develop until in 1848 after their oppression, when the first Women s conference was
held in Seneca Falls, America. Ever since then, the amount of feminists and feminist
activities around the world have increased a great amount. Feminism has become a
major subject in the media, being represented in television, music and even ... Show

Serge comes back at night, more drunk and violent than before, to knock some sense

situations where the lady is in trouble, unable to defend herself and a knight in

The most focused conflict of the film Chocolat is the conflict between Vienne and

Should Billy Coleman Have Tried To Chop Down A Tree
It s always too early to quit. This is a quote by an optimistic author named Norman
Vincent Peale. He believed that, even when one thinks it is time to give up and
quit, there is always a way to do the job. In the book Where the Red Fern Grows, a
boy named Billy Coleman was trying to chop down a huge tree, and several times, he
was ready to quit. It would not be right to leave a tree half chopped and dying for
no good reason, so he continued chopping away at the tree s trunk. Everyone can
agree that the reason he was chopping down the tree was that he had made a
promise to his dogs. Some people argue that even so, Billy should not have tried to
chop down the enormous tree. Other people, like me, argue that Billy should have
tried to chop down the enormous tree for three reasons. Firstly, Billy needed to
become a man. Secondly, he needed to keep his promise. Finally, he needed to learn

Research Paper On Arc De Seanmphe
The Arc de Triomphe, which is also known as the Arc de Triomphe de l Г©toile, is
a huge, triumphant arch in Paris, France. This monument is one of the world s
best known memorial landmarks. It remains at the focal point of the Place Charles
de Gaulle, which was earlier called the Place de l Г©toile. After Napoleon s
incredible win at the Battle of Austerlitz in 1805, he commanded the Arc de
Triomphe be built in order to praise the accomplishments of the French military.
The arch, planned by Jean François Thérèse Chalgrin, is 164 feet high and
148 feet wide. It sits in a round square, where 12 roads transmit, making a star.
Development of the arch started on August 15, 1806, which was Napoleon s birthday.

Fancy sculptures praising military triumphs of the Revolution and the First
Empire were completed on the exterior of the arch s four platforms by François
Rude, Jean Pierre Cortot, and Antoine Etex. The most acclaimed of those
sculptures is Rude s Departure of the Volunteers of 1792, also known as La
Marseillaise. Different surfaces are embellished with the names of several officers
and fights. A stairway of 284 steps extends from the lowest point to the highest point
of the landmark; a lift goes partially up the landmark. However, to get to the top,
where a watching deck is found, you have to climb the rest of the way. A little
gallery with interesting displays on the history behind the arch lies one level beneath
the observation area. Underneath the arch is France s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
from 1921. A fire of recognition, which was first lit in 1923, is revived each night. A
celebration announcing the creation of the 1918 peace negotiation that finished
World War I is held at the Arc de Triomphe each year.
The Arc de Triomphe keeps on acting as a famous image of France, to the nation
itself and to the world. The caskets of many inspiring French presences, for
example, Victor Hugo and Ferdinand Foch, have briefly stayed there before their
burial somewhere else. Also, victory parades often walk past the curve, both those

Nuclear Energy And Its Effects
1.Background
Nuclear energy can be produced by fission, by splitting a nucleus into smaller
products, (precisely equal parts). These products are equal to half of the original
mass. In the process of nuclear fission, energy and neutrons will be emitted. Along
with the emission of neutrons, also during the process of fission, a large amount of a
product s energy is released.
Every day we are surrounded by so much radiation however, only some radiation can
be harmful to us. Radiation such as microwaves, radio waves, and infrared are
classes as non ionizing and are not a threat to humans. Radiation classed as Ionizing
radiation is most definitely harmful to us because it has the capability of removing
electrons from other atoms and then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also have a less powerful ionizing rate compared to alpha particles.
Gamma rays are energy, also known as electromagnetic radiation. They have no
charge or mass. They move through the air extremely quickly (at the speed of light)
and to ionize them, they need to directly hit the nucleus of an atom. This suggests that
gamma rays have a very low ionizing rate and can travel much t=further through the
air compared to alpha and beta particles.
Nuclear fuelled power plants are very similar to fossil fuelled power pants, in which
they both turn water into steam in order to control the turbine generators that produce
energy; the only difference is the source of heat. At nuclear powerplants, a nuclear
reactor produces and controls the amount of energy that is released when atoms of
Uranium split, which is called fission. The heat that is used to make this steam is
created by this form of fission. Uranium fuelled nuclear power plants are a clean and
efficient way of boiling water to produce the steam that is used to operate the turbine
generators within the power plant.
Figure 1 shows the equation for the nuclear fission of uranium 235.

According to the Sturge Weber Foundations, Sturge Weber Syndrome can be
diagnosed once the baby is born. With the most obvious characteristics, the baby
will have a dark purple birthmark that covers close to half of his/her face. Another
symptom from Sturge Weber Syndrome is that it can cause neurological deformity.
Both of these symptoms are caused by the abnormal blood vessels near the eye and
on the surface of the brain. Studies have shown that this syndrome is not passed
from family history, but the only remedy we can do is to suppress it (Sturge

The only way to cope with the disease is to control it and improving the person s
lifestyle. (Moore, 2012). Pinpointing what kind of symptoms and category of
Sturge Weber Syndrome the person has, an MD can figure out what types of
remedies are available. There are many different types of pharmacologic treatments
for seizures. Most of the seizures from the disease are located only on one side of the
brain s hemisphere. Some of the medications include Carbamazepine, Phenytoin,
Oxcarbazepine, Lamotrigine, Levetiracetam, Valproic Acid, Zonisamide, Topiramate,
Lorazepam, Phenobarbital, Gabapentin, Pregabalin, Tiagabine, Diazepam,
Felbamate, Lacosamide, and Clonazepam. With the seizures being controlled with
medications, it helped prevent future seizures from 10% to 50%. Besides
medications, there are also surgical treatments available as well. Early surgery for
patients with Sturge Weber Syndrome is to improve and prevent developmental
delay, refractory seizures, and hemiparesis. Lobectomy and craniotomy were
recommended once being diagnosed with the disease because doctors have found
that early onsets of seizures can lead towards mental retardatation. A procedure
called hemispherectomy is also recommended to be given when a unilateral

how much preparation or practice, what was delivered was what you got. There
was no turn around point. This stress of the possibility of making a mistake at that
point put not only a higher level of dependence on one another, but trust. Trust
allowed the dependence to occur in the beginning. Aside interdependence I would
say that synergy amongst the group stayed positive and constant throughout the
group and the entirety of the project. Our ability to communicate what main ideas
we thought would be pertinent to share in the presentation and who would be

to the level of trust and interdependence the group had when it came to what
specific information each group member chose as well as how it would be

Shakespeare
Who was Shakespeare? Was he a man from Stratford Upon Avon who started with
little and became the greatest English author to ever live; or was he a privileged
Earl who was a favorite at Queen Elizabeth s court? That is the great mystery. This
particular mystery is difficult to solve because of the lack of documentary evidence.
The Elizabethans did not believe in getting everything in writing as people do today.
Therefore, the truth may never be known with certainty. However, evidence does
exist to support at least two theories about the Shakespearean authorship: one that the
man from Stratford wrote the works, the other that Edward de Vere the Earlof Oxford
was the author. The question then becomes, which ... Show more content on

He then searched for a man of the same time period who met these criteria (Ogburn).
The characteristics that come up again and again in the debates include: the author s
education and knowledge of the Classics, law, and Italy; and the documents and
poems of the time that have survived.
The most controversial and subjective argument stems from the apparent wealth of
knowledge possessed by the Shakespearean author. Throughout the plays and sonnets,
he makes numerous classical allusions. Oxfordians claim that the Shakespeare from
Stratford (usually referred to as Shakspere in the debates) could not have
possessed the necessary knowledge to draw upon these sources. Tom Bethell,
another noted Oxfordian, writes that Shakspere is not known to have attended
Stratford grammar school ... [and] if he was a pupil, he probably was not one for
long (Bethell). However, respected Stratfordian Irvin Matus argues that no records
of anyone attending the school exist before the 1800 s (Matus). He also notes that
Ben Jonson, a contemporary of Shakespeare s and a revered playwright, did not
have much more than a few years of rudimentary schooling and that there are no
attendance records for Jonson s school before 1715 (Matus). On his comprehensive
Stratfordian website, David Kathman asserts that Shakespeare s classical knowledge,
while impressive by our standards, was

Dramaturgical Approach By Erving Goffman
Erving Goffman presented the theory of the dramaturgical approach. In general, it
insinuates that people s daily lives can be perceived as performances in action on a
stage. People adjust how they act depending on the situation or audience that is
present. As Goffman (1959) explains, when an individual enters the presence of
others they seek to obtain information on the other people and incorporate
information already known to them. Information about an individual helps to define
the situation and what each personexpects of one another in terms of their behaviour
and the way they present themselves. If the people do not know each other prior to
the situation, they can take clues about one another from their appearance and
mannerisms. Assumptions can also be made about people in certain social settings
with the presumption that only certain people will be found there. Goffman s theory
is applicable to modern day life and I will be using the example of a school
classroom to depict this throughout the essay.
The individual putting on the performance yearns for the observers to wholeheartedly
believe the impression being given off. They want their observers to believe that they
truly possesses these attributes and qualities they appear to have. Depending on the ...

It focuses on how one presents themselves, how different situations or audiences
affect this, and the different aspects involved in a performance. Goffman implies
we all play social roles and adjust our performances for different people and

way that meets society s expectations, and however they personally would like to be

The Last Duel by Eric Jager Essay
Story of the duel to end all duels
In the story The Last Duel by Eric Jager, fourteenth century in medieval France, a
knight by the name of Jean de Carrouges challenges a squire, Jacques Le Gris, to a
duel. The reason for this trial by combat, a court ordered duel intended by fate of
God to determine the truth, was to seek vengeance for the sake of his own honor.
The wife of Jean Carrouges was the young, beautiful, good, sensible, and modest
Marguerite. She was expected to maintain a ladylike mannerism and remain loyal to

It wasn t possible for him to succeed in this crime alone, so he had to of had help
from someone. His companion in this attack was a squire by the name of Adam

Paris. Louvel served under Carrouges in the Cotentin campaign and actually knew
him well. Ironically Louvel had a house in Capomesnil, where Marguerite was

Carrouges was leaving on a journey he could have traveled to Capomesnil and
stayed with Louvel until his opportunity arose when Nicole de Carrouges left the
house for a short amount of time to handle business in Saint Pierre. This is where
my suspicions of Le Gris having everything planned grew because he must have
known Nicole was called away to a town six miles away, and accordingly planned
and timed when he would enter the home, how long it would take to complete the
brutal attack, and enough time to leave and form an alibi.
Jacques Le Gris was established as a man who was known for seducing women. It

encounter became physical because Le Gris was going to get what he wanted wether

How To Read Literature Like A Professor Chapter
Summary
In the second chapter of Thomas C. Foster s How to Read Literature Like a Professor,
Foster discusses the intimacy of eating throughout literature and how readers should
draw important information from a scene at the table. This chapter quickly
establishes that whenever people eat or drink together, it s communion (8). While the
word communion is often associated with religious practices, Foster determines that
in literary context, communion frequently refers to the close exchanging of intimate
thoughts, feelings or actions. As the chapter progresses Foster begins to provide
several reasons for why readers should pay attention to meal scenes, such as, writinga

Throughout this movie, Quasimodo, a crooked bell ringer of the Notre Dame
cathedral is looked over by Frollo, the evil minister of justice for all of Paris.
Quasimodo is constantly belittled by Frollo which is emphasised during the
several meals they share together. During the film, Frollo expects Quasimodo to
set up and serve the meal in a servant manner. Frollo dines with clean metallic
plates, glasses and a napkin while Quasimodo is forced to feed off a wooden scrap
for a plate. In one instance Frollo drops food onto the ground on purpose and expects
Quasimodo to clean up after him. During these gatherings Frollo s flauntful behaviors
highlight the differences between the two characters. These scenes also stress how
Frollo abuses and discredits Quasimodo. Because of this chapter I came to the
realization that the small dining scenes assorted throughout The Hunchback of Notre
Dame withhold much more information than I initially thought. Instead of two
characters simply eating together for the necessity of food, this chapter in Thomas
C. Foster s How to Read Literature Like a Professor illustrated the relevance a sole
meal can exhibit between two or more
My Social Norm
For my Social Norm Project I decided to go to a scary movie at AMC. My friend
and I went to the scary movie called Crimson Peak when the movie theater was
busy. The reason I decided to go when it was busy and picked a scary movie is
because I wanted to laugh instead of scream at the scary parts to see what people
would do. It is socially normal to scream when you are afraid, but laughing is
normally not a reaction someone would expect. To do the experiment we sat in the
middle of the theater so we would be close enough to the people in the theater and
every time a scary part would come up I would start laughing hysterically. At first it
was difficult to follow through with the experiment because it was a really scary
movie and I had to make
Venus Of Urbino Analysis
Venus of Urbino demonstrates a beautiful, young woman, Venus, lying nude on what
appears to be a reclined couch or bed. However, the woman illustrated means much
more than merely a nude woman. There have been many interpretations of this
beautiful woman over the years but many art historians agree that the Venus of Urbino
has to do unambiguously with the male sexual desire for the female nude body.
Tiziano Vecellio, also documented, as Titian
was an Italian painter. He was born
sometime around 1470 1480, his exact date of birth is unclear and he died of a fever
during the plague around 1576. Titian was one of the furthermost adaptable Italian
painters during the High Renaissance. Titian was equally proficient with portraits,
landscape backgrounds and mythological and religious subjects. Consequently, Titian
was one of the furthermost important members of the sixteenth century Venetian
school and he is still an overwhelming influence on the art world. Often times, Titian
is described as the first artist to have an international career. Titian s painting career
was prosperous from the start but over the course of this prolonged life, his style
changed drastically and he retained a permanent interest in color, which is well
defined in his painting Venus of Urbino.
Consequently, many of the colors used in Titian s Venus of Urbino rematerialize in
numerous of Titian s other works, for example the green in the curtain behind the
young woman s head. The green depicted was painted
The Surveillance Of Cctv Cameras
Over the years, banks have housed several of their branches in large buildings,
sharing their space with other occupants. Although security is a key factor in
consideration of the location of a bank, smart individuals use this positioning to their
advantage. Access is gained by cutting a hole in the floor, and theft occurs. With the
passing years, securityin banks has been evident with the reliance of CCTV cameras.
This ensures monitoring of the users activities in banks by security officers who take
turns in watching the screens for any uneventful, unexpected happenings. The CCTV
cameras are placed strategically in every corner to ensure each detail of the activities
taking place is recorded. The ATMs are also monitored in anticipation... Show more

This made the people hesitate to invest any significant amount of money at the time.
The idea slowly began to catch on after easing into E commerce. Major and minor
banks are trying to enhance the security of their firms using different methods. The
security system of some banks requires highly trained, capable individuals who can
protect progression of activities in their allocated areas, be it inside the bank, at ATM
portals and in monitoring CCTV cameras.
Use of laser beams that generate intense beams of coherent monochromatic light
through simulated emission of photons has been used as a security measure. They
are used either as sensors to trigger alarms or as penetrative destructive beams in
highly confiscated areas, which allow limited or no access at all. Online banking
security measures are kept to plan by the banks allowing software developers to
create antivirus software and sell the software to them. Users are required to
download this antivirus for themselves without necessarily consulting the bank s
security operators. Recent trends have shown the use of biometric analysis in the
form of hand writing recognition, hand finger, and geometry (Taylor, 2013).
Unlike the current system, the working of this system will provide accurate data
storage, since any transaction is recorded on the device and can be easily traced. The
system will also create more client confidentiality since any unauthorized individual
cannot access the data stored in the system. This

Researched Argument Essay Example

  • 1. Researched Argument Essay Example Crafting a Researched Argument Essay can be a challenging endeavor that demands a combination of critical thinking, thorough research, and effective communication skills. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a compelling argument but also in the meticulous process of gathering and analyzing relevant information. To create a well-rounded essay, one must delve into diverse sources, ranging from academic journals to reputable publications, ensuring the incorporation of various perspectives. The complexity intensifies when considering the need for a coherent structure, logical progression of ideas, and the synthesis of data to support the thesis. Striking a balance between the breadth and depth of information can be daunting, requiring the writer to navigate through a sea of facts and theories to construct a convincing narrative. Additionally, maintaining objectivity while articulating a clear stance on the issue under consideration is a delicate task, as the essay should be both persuasive and rooted in evidence. Furthermore, the process involves continuous refinement and revision. Achieving clarity of expression and cohesion in argumentation often demands multiple iterations. Each draft is an opportunity to refine the thesis, strengthen supporting evidence, and enhance the overall persuasiveness of the essay. In conclusion, developing a Researched Argument Essay is a challenging undertaking that demands a combination of intellectual rigor, research skills, and effective communication. It is an intricate dance between the exploration of diverse viewpoints and the crafting of a compelling argument. However, with dedication and perseverance, one can overcome these challenges to produce a persuasive and well-researched essay. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that similar essays and more comprehensive support can be accessed through services like HelpWriting.net. • 2. K-T Boundary Research Papers It started with a study of fossils. Walter Alvarez, an American geologist, was studying fossils in rock formations near Gubbio, Italy, in the 1970 s when he found that there were distinctly different fossils (the sizes and types of organisms were completely different) in the layers of limestone above and below a very thin (about 1cm) layer of clay. He also determined that there were no fossils at all in the clay layer. Everywhere he looked in that area he found the same thing. He wondered what could have happened to cause such a change in the types of fossils he was seeing. He questioned how much time it may have taken for that kind of change to occur, and he questioned how much time was represented by the layer of clay where there were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Dutch geologist named Jan Smit found the same types of formations, fossil evidence, and clay layer in Spain, and had the same questions. These questions and subsequent investigations, studies, and experiments, led to the discovery of the K T Boundary, the dividing line between the Cretaceous and Tertiary Periods and the end of the Mesozoic Era about 65 million years ago. These discoveries and the search for answers led to work by a diverse group of scientists from a number of different disciplines finding evidence of a catastrophic event in the history of the Earth, and the hypothesis of an asteroid impact that would have led to mass destruction of life (plant and animal), including the extinction of the dinosaurs. This hypothesis was met with disbelief in the scientific community. Some geologists pointed out that, of the dinosaur bones that had been found up to that time, the closest to the K T Boundary were still three meters below it, showing that dinosaurs would have already been extinct when this event occurred. Another problem was that an event of this magnitude would have left a crater so large that it would be easy to find, and there was no evidence of one that
  • 3. Nationalism Is A Political Ideology Essay INTRODUCTION: Nationalism is a political ideology. It generally involves the identification of a state. According to Hans Kohn, Nationalism is an idea, an idea force which fills man s brain and heart with new thoughts and sentiments and drives him to translate his consciousness into deeds of organized action (Agarwal, 1996). Usually we can see two forms of nationalism. One is liberal nationalism and the other is aggressive nationalism. Because of liberal nationalism, different countries of the world could achieve their independence. On the contrary, aggressive nationalism creates danger for a country. World War I and World War II are examples of aggressive nationalism. Liberal nationalism is concerned with justice or peace. On the other hand, aggressive nationalism is concerned with injustice or war. Nationalism creates the national feelings in the minds of the people of a country. With this national feeling, people of a country can make the cultural, political and economic development. Nationalism takes different forms at different stages of the process of development of a nation or state (Karim, 1992). There are different castes and religions in our country. People of all castes and religions live together peacefully in our country because of liberal nationalism. Bangladesh has a historical legacy of its nationalism. The people of Bangladesh had started struggling for the independence from 1857. Lords of Britain had suppressed us a lot but we did not lose our courage

There isn t a single page in the novel that doesn t display this annoying literary device. Everything is like this or like that. It never ends! Similar to decoding a secret message that isn t difficult to understand, but nevertheless tiring due to the overwhelming amount of messages, the novel is frustrating to read. The following analysis acknowledges Chandler s creativity in developing his main character, Philip Marlowe, with his usage of simile. However, the excessive style of the novel creates a dominating force that ultimately leaves the reader unfulfilled at the end. Chandler goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The smile would wash off like water off sand and her pale skin had a harsh granular texture under the stunned and stupid blankness of her eyes (64). This is a rather harsh observation, yet is important in realizing Chandler s excessive use of simile. His analogies are often lost when he compares every type of characteristic; whether it is external or internal, positive or negative. The Sternwood daughters are two different characters whom Marlowe observes in contrasting ways. Using numerous similes to describe both characters simply confuses this difference. It is from this standpoint that the novel is absolute drudgery completing. Simile after simile is overlooked because they are too numerous to count. The reader accepts Chandler s analogous style and skims over it in order to solve the mystery in their lifetime. Marlowe gives an astute observation that is often lost because the reader s mind has swelled into a ball of oozing muck from the heavy dosage of similes. However, this problem is a small droplet in an overwhelming sea of redundancy that Chandler whole heartedly navigates to perilous depths. Not only are the similes potentially overlooked, they also create a bigger problem in deterring readers from finding the more interesting themes, such as truth and loyalty, in the novel. If they skim over the similes, they will most likely skim over some of these important, and interesting, themes. His interactions with

The phenomenon can be partially explained by noting how Korean popular culture catapulted forward during the 1990s, leaving much of Asia behind as it abandoned conservatism and censorship, diversifying, appropriating, absorbing and innovating. In its fusions, it created an Asian equivalent of European and American pop. Japanese pop, of course, had long had this function throughout the region, but the 1990s was a time for re examining the Pacific War s legacy, and Korea offered a less tainted alternative to Japan. Although they are known for showing their support through watching their Korean pop idols and buying Korean pop merchandise, they go beyond than that; these fandoms also organize parties and charitable events to help the needy and at the same time, to mingle with their fellow KPop fans. These Southern aristocratic ways of life are directly responsible for this overlying theme of pride which leads Mrs. Compson to lose her maternal instincts, abuse Dilsey, fail to make good investments, and get help from others. She is obsessed with her family s reputation which creates all of her flaws/shortcomings. The Southern code really influences all her decisions and the way she acts aloof around her family members. When she reverted to her maiden name, Bascomb, towards the end of the novel, she demonstrated that not only had she never really been part of the Compson family, but that she didn t think her family had ever followed the Southern aristocratic etiquette closely enough. The Dublinersstories are a small snippet into their full lives, while the reader does not get the full story, he does not need to. Not much may seem to happen in the stories, but profound themes and messages are hidden beneath the words. In the story An Encounter, a group of boys imagine they are in the Wild West, while staging mock battles of cowboys vs. Indians. The story includes many encounters that present themselves as ordinary; however this is far from true. In fact, the story is largely commentating on often mocking Irish religious life and escapism. In the beginning of the story one of the boys, Leo Dillon, is scolded by Father Butler for reading The Half Penny Marvel. Father Butler considers the comic as nonsense and tells Leo that his Roman History is far more cultured and important (Joyce 12). A religious figure like Father Butler is common among Joyce s works, as he has always shown contempt for religion. This paper examines three stories that are germane to their native culture while also dealing with the universal theme of individuation, the process by which one becomes aware of oneself, distinct from other people. Each of the stories were written by authors from different cultures: Hansel and Gretel was written by The Brother s Grimm in Germany, The Wolf and The Lamb is an Aesop s Fable from Greece, and The Jungle Book is a set of stories written by Rudyard Kipling in England. Although The Wolf and The Lamb and The Jungle Book each feature animal characters, they are anthropomorphized to the extent that they still incorporate the individuation process as a prominent trope. In each of the stories, the main character undertakes the journey from innocence to experience and must learn how to assert and defend himself in the face of danger and adversity. Although Hansel and Gretel features two (eponymous) main characters rather than one, the story still addresses the need for children to undertake the process of individuation and fend for themselves rather than relying on one s elders. At the beginning of the story, Hansel and Gretel are naиЄ°ve; they rely on their parents, neither of whom can adequately care for them (they are cold and underfed), yet the two children are also unable to adequately care for themselves. Comparison Of Macbeth And Lady Macbeth Contrast Comparison of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth While analyzing the two main characters in Shakespeare s tragic play Macbeth, critics have often argued about their true nature and inner coherence. Despite the effort made, very rarely are the characters presented as their true self, without the inclusion of psychoanalytical theories and other studies. Consequently, this essay s primary goal is to analyze and discuss the main characteristics of the Macbeth couple and how they relate with each other by using nothing but a careful reading of the thoughts and actions of each of the characters and no external influence or studies whatsoever. Feminism One Of The Biggest Topics Today And Is Defined Feminism one of the biggest topics today and is defined as the public support of the rights of women on the basis of equality of the sexes. In fact, the main reason feminism is such a popular topic is because of how men were treated as the dominant gender . Back then, women were given specific roles by society to be housewives and only cook and take care of the children. The idea of feminism, however, did slowly develop until in 1848 after their oppression, when the first Women s conference was held in Seneca Falls, America. However, in this situation, Josephine and Vienne manage to knock out Serge before any real damage. This sends the message that a hero is not always needed for the damsel in distress. In this situation, two heroines got the job done. In conclusion, Josephine becomes more of a feminist during her growth without her husband. From the beginning of the film after Vienne and her daughter arrive, the Comte is convinced that Vienne and her daughter, Anouk, played by Victoire Thivisol, would bring trouble to

He believed that, even when one thinks it is time to give up and quit, there is always a way to do the job. In the book Where the Red Fern Grows, a boy named Billy Coleman was trying to chop down a huge tree, and several times, he was ready to quit. It would not be right to leave a tree half chopped and dying for no good reason, so he continued chopping away at the tree s trunk. Everyone can agree that the reason he was chopping down the tree was that he had made a promise to his dogs. Some people argue that even so, Billy should not have tried to chop down the enormous tree. Other people, like me, argue that Billy should have tried to chop down the enormous tree for three reasons. • 32. Nuclear Energy And Its Effects 1.Background Nuclear energy can be produced by fission, by splitting a nucleus into smaller products, (precisely equal parts). These products are equal to half of the original mass. In the process of nuclear fission, energy and neutrons will be emitted. Along with the emission of neutrons, also during the process of fission, a large amount of a product s energy is released. Every day we are surrounded by so much radiation however, only some radiation can be harmful to us. They also have a less powerful ionizing rate compared to alpha particles. Gamma rays are energy, also known as electromagnetic radiation. They have no charge or mass. They move through the air extremely quickly (at the speed of light) and to ionize them, they need to directly hit the nucleus of an atom. This suggests that gamma rays have a very low ionizing rate and can travel much t=further through the air compared to alpha and beta particles. Nuclear fuelled power plants are very similar to fossil fuelled power pants, in which they both turn water into steam in order to control the turbine generators that produce energy; the only difference is the source of heat. At nuclear powerplants, a nuclear reactor produces and controls the amount of energy that is released when atoms of Uranium split, which is called fission. The heat that is used to make this steam is created by this form of fission. Uranium fuelled nuclear power plants are a clean and efficient way of boiling water to produce the steam that is used to operate the turbine generators within the power plant. Was he a man from Stratford Upon Avon who started with little and became the greatest English author to ever live; or was he a privileged Earl who was a favorite at Queen Elizabeth s court? The Elizabethans did not believe in getting everything in writing as people do today. Therefore, the truth may never be known with certainty. The characteristics that come up again and again in the debates include: the author s education and knowledge of the Classics, law, and Italy; and the documents and poems of the time that have survived. The most controversial and subjective argument stems from the apparent wealth of knowledge possessed by the Shakespearean author. Throughout the plays and sonnets, he makes numerous classical allusions. • 37. Dramaturgical Approach By Erving Goffman Erving Goffman presented the theory of the dramaturgical approach. In general, it insinuates that people s daily lives can be perceived as performances in action on a stage. People adjust how they act depending on the situation or audience that is present. As Goffman (1959) explains, when an individual enters the presence of others they seek to obtain information on the other people and incorporate information already known to them. Information about an individual helps to define the situation and what each personexpects of one another in terms of their behaviour and the way they present themselves. If the people do not know each other prior to the situation, they can take clues about one another from their appearance and mannerisms. Assumptions can also be made about people in certain social settings with the presumption that only certain people will be found there. Goffman s theory is applicable to modern day life and I will be using the example of a school classroom to depict this throughout the essay.
