Examples Of A 5 Paragraph Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Examples of a 5 Paragraph Essay" presents a unique challenge.
The difficulty lies in the need to strike a balance between providing clear examples and
explanations while also demonstrating creativity and originality in the approach.
Firstly, one must gather a variety of suitable examples that effectively illustrate the structure and
components of a typical 5 paragraph essay. These examples need to cover different subjects,
styles, and levels of complexity to showcase the versatility of this format.
Next, one must analyze each example thoroughly, dissecting its introduction, body paragraphs,
and conclusion to understand how they contribute to the overall coherence and persuasiveness of
the essay. This requires critical thinking skills and the ability to identify key elements such as
thesis statements, supporting evidence, transitions, and concluding remarks.
Moreover, crafting an essay on this topic requires more than just regurgitating examples; it
demands the synthesis of ideas and the formulation of insightful commentary. This means
exploring the strengths and weaknesses of each example, discussing how they adhere to or
deviate from traditional 5 paragraph essay structure, and evaluating their effectiveness in
conveying the intended message to the reader.
Furthermore, one must ensure that the essay itself follows the principles it aims to elucidate. This
involves organizing thoughts logically, maintaining coherence throughout the text, and adhering
to the conventions of academic writing.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on "Examples of a 5 Paragraph Essay" may seem
straightforward at first glance, it entails a complex process of selection, analysis, synthesis, and
critique. However, with careful attention to detail and a willingness to think critically, one can
navigate these challenges successfully.

How Softball Is My Favorite Sport

to love the sport when she was young at age. She recognized the sport when she
was a bat girl for the bruins baseball team. From that moment on, she began to fall
in love with the sport. Her first time playing softball was around the age of five.
Three years later, she started to practice as a pitcher. She wanted to work her way

Ernesto Galarza s family were required to adapt to many different socio cultural
challenges in the novel Barrio Boy. This novel describes his childhood journey
from a small mountain village to California, with the revolution in Mexico being
the underlying issue. The entirety of Galarza s family had a specific known role in
their mountain village of Jelco. They were well off, but the threat of a civil war and
the possibility of a draft pushed some of the family, including Galarza, to move.
As the family moved to north to Mazatlan they faced an economic upheaval. One of

What Are The Four Types Of Innovation Radical,...
Discussion Question 7.2 Describe a firm you think has been highly innovative.
Which of the four types of innovation radical, incremental, disruptive, or architectural
did it use? Did the firm use different types over time? Chipotle is the leader in the
fast casual market, with over 1,900 locations, $3.21 billion in annual revenue, and the
ability to serve up to 300 customers an hour. It has innovated the restaurant market by
providing reasonably priced scratch made meals, containing local ingredients, all
within the confines of a pleasing aesthetic environment (Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc.,
2014; Kaplan, 2011). To reach its success, the firm utilized architectural innovation
by stealing components of various types of restaurants already in existence. The
company appropriated its rapid meal preparation methods from fast food chains such
Subway and Quiznos, adopted its provision of quality food from more upscale casual
Mexican restaurants, and implemented a locally based supply chain similar to that
seen at many local farm to table establishments. This convergence of different
properties came together right as the millennial generation was coming of age and
demand higher quality, natural, and locally sourced ingredients in meals that could
receive quickly. The company has also attempted to utilize an incremental innovation
approach by removing all CMO ingredients and testing new foods such as breakfast
items, soup, and chorizo sausage (The Associated Press, 2015; Peterson,

It s Christmas Eve and I scurry about the house getting ready for the party. Sense I

my nose up close to the ham smelling deeply before I said Aww that golden brown

Experimental Data Using Multiple Linear Regression
Abstract: Ignition delay times were measured behind reflect shock waves for the
lean DME/n pentane fuel blends with DME blending ratios from 0% to 100% over
a wide range of conditions: pressures from 2 to 20 atm, temperatures from 1100 to
1600 K and equivalence ratio of 0.5. Correlations of ignition delay times of DME/n
pentane were deduced from the experimental data using multiple linear regression.
Comparison between measured ignition delay times and numerical predictions by
five available kinetic mechanisms, namely NUI Galway pentane isomer model,
JetSurF2.0 model, LLNL n alkanes Model, NUI Galway Mech_56.54 Model and
Wang s DME model, was conducted. NUI Galway pentane isomer model shows good
predictions for ignition delay times of DME, n pentane and their blends which was
conducted in this study to interpret the effect of DME addition on the ignition
chemistry of n pentane. Keyword: DME; n pentane; fuel blends; ignition delay time;

A Brief Note On The Uk And China
An Overview of DE in the UK and China
When discussing DE, the UK exemplifies both the history and success of DE
because the industrialization Revolution (IR) led the UK to pioneer the development
of DE. Similarly, when discussing DE development in China, the UK is the
indispensable model of DE and the country to appreciate. China could not have
started DE in 1970s without the support and example of the UK s DE system.
DE in the UK. Britain has a long history with DE. From the 1860s to the 1940s,
British society was significantly promoted by the IR. The rapid industrialization of
the IR caused the need for a large number of highly skilled workers, which is seen as
the beginning of the appearance of DE. Meanwhile, the techniques, which could
realize distance communication, also matured. For example, the advancement in the
printing and publishing industry, the national postal service system, the invention of
steam locomotives, and the construction of railways provided the basic
communication cycle for correspondence education, which was the early stage of DE.
Both the social and technological environments for the emergence and development
of the British DE system began with these advancements.
The University Extension Movement in the UK. According to the British law in the
early 1850s, none university except the ones with Royal Special Permit could issue
diplomas. According to the British government requirements for university
admission, the students needed to first apply for
The Role Of Grenville Acts In Relation To The American...
Over the course of Britain s centuries of history, events such as the industrialization
of the Britain in the 19th century and many others proved to be pivotal events
placing Britain as a pre modern superpower. As described in the encyclopedia The
History of World Trade Since 1450, Britain s mid nineteenth century economy is
often referred to as the workshop of the world (Harley 396). Caused by the newly
invented technological advancements, Britain began to export two thirds of the world
s inventory made by advanced machinery. Bringing in the newly created steam
engine, industries such as the iron and textile developed into major providers of
wealth in the trade network of Britain. With growing industries and a source

The concept, function, and regulation of a physical currency whether coin or bill,
falls under the control of the banks and government of the nation. In the case of
Britain, several acts known collectively as the Grenville Acts became notorious for
being a catalyst to the American Revolution. Searching for a form of prevention
from use of valueless coinage for payment of debts, one act, known as the Currency
Act of 1764, disallowed the minting of currency within the British colonies.
(Selesky 293). Many problems arose, but in the short term, a solution had been
created to satisfy the needs of the empire temporarily as they progressed in terms of
technology and geopolitical power. Along with the many decrees and orders of the
government came the bankers, organizations of financially suited individuals who
could very well be given the title for consolidating funds into an infrastructure for the
whole of Europe! Prior to the 1800s banks privatized ownership and provided long
term loans and more, allowing for the grassroots of infrastructure to develop in
Britain. Conveying the role of banks in infrastructure, Philip Cottrell mentions that
security issues [funds for projects] enabled infrastructure... in Europe starting in the
1830s and around the world in the 1850s (COTTRELL 170). The arrival of a new era
of technology and infrastructure in the 19th century brought also a need for financial
security and management; aptly put

Charles Manson Case
First, I chose this case because of the reverberation of Charles Manson and his
crimes. I first had knowledge of the Charles Manson case after it was referenced in
the TV show, Criminal Minds, after a cult killed 7 people.
Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Manson s life
of crime started from as young as 10 years old. His first crime was robbing a liquor
store in his home town. During his youth, he was continually sent to juvenile
detention centers. However, time and time again he escaped and committed more
petty crimes. In 1952, he was sent to the Federal Reformatory in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Up until 1966, Manson was constantly in and out of prison. He was finally released
from Terminal Island in 1967.
Once out of prison, Manson made his to San Francisco with his early followers,
including Mary Brunner and about 19 other women. This was the beginning of
Manson s cult, The Manson Family. The Family later relocated to Spahn s Movie
Ranch. After hearing The Beatles White Album, Manson was convinced that the song

This time the target was Terry Melcher, an old acquaintance of Manson. Susan
Atkins, Linda Kasabian and Patricia Krenwinkel were sent to enact the murder at
Melcher s house. However, the Melchers had moved out and instead Sharon Tate,
who was a famous actress at the time, her unborn child and three others who were
visiting were killed. The Tate murders received national recognition. Atkins, Kasabian
and Krenwinkel were identified as the killers and after an eight month trial, they were
all sentenced to death. However, in 1972, the death penalty was abolished in
California so their punishments were overturned to life
Reflective Essay On Anne Frank
The holocaust took place from January 30, 1933 May 8, 1945. This event changed
American history forever. Thousands of people died, including the Frank family.
Anne Frank once said, In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at
heart. Anne and her family had to go through a lot of tough times during the holocaust
, but I agree with Anne, people are still good at heart. Reading this book, I noticed
that there are a lot of kind hearted actions in this book. I am agreeing with Anne and
her actions are what prove this quote right. However, I could see where some may
disagree. People like Mr. Van Daan and Mr. Dussel, have actions or ways they speak,
that are very rude.

Van Daan. On page 96 and 97 there is an example of Mr. Van Daans cruel behavior:
Mrs. V. Daan: No! No! No! Don t you dare take that. You hear? It s mine. My father
gave me that. You didn t give it to me. You have no right. Let go of it you hear? Mr.
V. Daan: Just a little discussion over the advisability of selling this coat. As I have
often reminded Mrs. Van Daan, it s very selfish of her to keep it when people outside
are in such desperate need of clothing. So if you will please sell it for us? It should
fetch a good price. And, by the way, will you get me cigarettes? I don t care what
kind they are get all you can.
To me this is very rude, he is selling one of Mrs. Van Daan s most prized
possessions. This coat means alot to Mrs. Van Daan, and he is selling it, for what,
cigarettes. He does not think of anyone other than himself, and is very selfish. He
is getting something for himself, that he doesn t even need. Mrs.Van Daan is
crushed that he is doing this, and he doesn t even bother to acknowledge her
sadness. As I just acknowledged Mr. Van Daan s terrible and insensitive behavior, I
still side with Anne. Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone messes up, but people
will always be good at heart. No matter what, people can bounce back and prove
their kindness, that is why I still side with

A few months ago I faced a difficult time in my life. I was homeless and I had

would have the ability to take me in. They had helped me enough in their eyes
regarding sheltering me, so I was abruptly kicked out of my grandmothers house I
was staying in and face the option to find shelter in a homeless shelter.
But let me back up a second. A couple weeks before my life made a turn for the
worse, I met a girl on Facebook who was a photographer. We collaborated together
on eventually meeting up to take pictures of my newborn, however, at that time I did
not have any money because I was on maternity leave and not working.
Looking at her beautiful work as a photographer, I knew one day I would have her
take pictures of my baby I just did not know when.
Then suddenly one day she messaged me and offered me free pictures of my
newborn in exchange of being able to build her newborn portfolio.
Thrilled at her offer, I jumped at the opportunity, literally jumping in my car the same
day she made the offer.
I drove to her apartment

The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998
Literature Review: The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998
For the past few centuries, political scandals have become a permanent fixture in US
politics. Most recently, when we think of scandals in American politics the 1998
Clinton Lewinsky Affair comes to mind. Though unlike its predecessors this scandal
was not one of constitutional crises such as Nixon s Watergate in the 1970s, but it
instead concerned the extramarital affairs of the then incumbent president, William J.
Clinton. Bill Clinton, as he is more commonly known by, was elected as the 42nd
US President in 1993 and served the maximum two terms in office, ending in 2001.
Under Clinton the American economy benefited greatly and financial stability
became more of a reality for many. However Clinton s presidential legacy is also
marked by his affair with Monica Lewinsky and his impeachment. He had become
the second sitting president in history to be impeached by the House of
Representatives. The Lewinsky affair shocked the public and the media along with
the right wing were keen to see Clintons demise. Washington became even more
vicious as political opponents of the President pursed him to no extent. Though
officially he could not be charged for having an affair, he could be held accountable
for lying under oath and misleading the jury during a trial. Clinton s adulterous affair
split opinions and became a talking point for all. Many accounts were written about
the Lewinsky affair, all with differing viewpoints on the
Homeostasis Research Paper
Homeostasis; it refers to the maintenance of a steady state in the body (optimum
level) through hormonal and nervous mechanisms despite the external environment
or fluctuations. It is important as it regulates normal body function. It is required for
biochemical processes which work efficiently within a specific temperature and pH
range and therefore the body must maintain these conditions. Homeostasisworks by
detecting change in environment which is then corrected with the appropriate
response, this is called negative feedback. Negative feedback is the mechanism that
corrects the change in the body. It has three main components in regulation of the

Learning ( Pbl ) And Work Based Learning
In our global economy, industry demands dynamic, adaptable and innovative workers
to remain competitive. This presents a challenge to educational institutions on two
fronts. Firstly to keep pace with this requirement and secondly to equip their learners
with the required skills and knowledge that will enable them to either remain within
this environment or to enter it.
Two approaches to learning that benefit individuals and meet this challenge are
Problem based learning (PBL) and work based learning (WBL). Both approaches are
learner centred, motivating learners to become self directed.
PBL originated in Canada in the late 1960 s underpinned by constructivist view.
Developed for medical students it became a widely used tool for learning (EE and
Tan 2009, Hmelo Silver, 2004). In her paper Hmelo Silver (2004) discusses the
process of PBL, its methodology and the goals it can achieve for both the learner
and the facilitator. But a significant criticism of PBL relates to the context in which
it is delivered. As PBL is within a classroom environment it does not fully address
other concepts required in adult learning situations such as political, social or
historical influences (Foley, 2004).
The early form of WBL is the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship, a word derived
from the French verb apprendre , meaning to learn, can be traced back to ancient
Egypt (Rorrison, 1988). This concept of teaching a craft has developed to meet the
growing need for a highly skilled and

The Most Precious Gems Of History
Some of the most precious gems in history are often overlooked or set aside. If a
person asked any student their thoughts on a World War, the student would most
likely respond with a negative reprisal of Adolf Hitler. What many students glance
over is World War I; they fail to realize that without World War I, there would be no
World War II. World War I
alone is a precious piece of history, but when plumbing
into the history historical documents become abundant. In World War I, letters were
the way soldiers communicated with friends and family members they were
separated from. The two articles that will be analyzed are letters exchanged between
coworkers at the Great Western Railway.

War during this time seemed to be more focused on close range battles in the
trenches using rifles and shorter distance weapons, which is certainly different from
today where there is wide use of long range missiles and bombs. Surveillance at that
time was gathered by sending soldiers out to the enemy lines instead of a drone or
satellite gathering information and sending it via modern technology back to the base.
The second primary source document reviewed was also a letter. Gilbert Williams
composed this letter in France during World War One. Mr. Williams was a private
in the 1/6 Seaforth Highlanders division in the French army. This particular letter
was a thank you letter for the gift of State Express cigarettes from a group of
gentlemen at home. This document was also found in a web search on the United
Kingdom National Archives. Unlike the first letter reviewed, this one was much
shorter in length. While this letter from Mr. Williams didn t give insight into the
living conditions or travel of soldiers, it did provide interesting details about the
weather and the battle conditions. But the primary reason this letter stood out over
other resources was the way the author describes his excitement over using his
weapon in battle.
In this letter, the soldier described the weather during this time as frigid and the land
as snow covered. He points out that the snow makes it easy to spot the enemy making
it hard to
Kurtz In Heart Of Darkness
The Role of Kurtz in Heart of Darkness
In the novel, Heart of Darkness, Kurtz is a very unusual antagonist. Kurtz is so
unusual because he is not presented in a normal way. The way Kurtz is presented to
the narrator is through stories. So, throughout the whole beginning of the book the
only thing the narrator knows about Kurtz is from the stories that people are telling
about him. And the stories that are being told about Kurtz is that he is in charge of
a trading post in Africa that sells ivory, and the narrator is also being told that
Kurtz is a remarkable guy. An example from the text says, He is a very remarkable
person. Further questions elicited from him that Mr. Kurtz was at present in charge
of a trading post, a very important one, in the true ivory country, at the very bottom
of there. Sends in as much ivory as all the others put together. But, even though he
has not been thoroughly introduced to the narrator he is still seen as a very
important person to this novel which is really confusing. As a reader it is confusing

and did not really have an overruling government. And the Europeans saw this and
took advantage of the possibility for the increase in economic markets and power.
For as long as imperialism has been an action people have called the country
performing these actions greedy. But the countries with the imperialist mindset see it
a different way. Those countries see it as they are helping out the savages. Those
countries think they are helping because these people are helping to civilize the
savages, and make them more like
Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro Individuality And
Conformity
In the story Red Dress 1946 by Alice Munro Individuality and Conformity is
discussed. Some examples of this is during the story is there was a carnival
atmosphere of brutality in the room at such times, scaring weak and suspect
people like me . The reason this is important to the text and idea of the essay is
because we often feel left out when we are ourselves. In life, we want to fit in we
are made to want this just like the main character in the story she wants a dress like
my friend Lonnie had. Is it implied that she is in a poor finance situation, as many
were at that time. The author Alice Munro portrays situational social pressure when
the main character gets home from the dance a quote to support this oppressive
obligation I had,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is on page nine after the protagonist s dress is make by her
mother the quote I will use to describe this is well nobody ever made me a dress
when I was in High School. Reasons why this is important is because this shows
the mother s why this is important is because we all feel it at some point and for
the lead character this is during the days before the dance. A perfect illustration of
family pressure is when the Mother of the friend of Lonnie exclaims, I doubt if she
appreciates it. When we have home pressures some of us do things only to please
the people around us an example of the protagonist doing this is when every
morning, including the day of the dance, I woke up in perfect health. This is
ample evidence because the narrator shows how she wants a reason to not go to the
dance. Another image of family pressure is when the main character is pressured
into having the protection of all female rituals. The reason this is important is
because she is trying to hide behind beauty to not show her insecurity to the point
where she looks like a Zulu with her hair curled. Further proof of family pressure is
on page 12 when the mother says will I wish I could take a picture I am really,
genuinely proud of that fit. And you might even say thank you for it. The mother
pressures her daughter to say a false thank you this image is given by Alice Munro
to show a teenage sassiness and it gives
Mademoiselle Reisz Analysis
The Influences of the Mademoiselle Reiz on the development of Edna Pontellier:
Edna is the protagonist of The Awakening by Kate Chopin. She is the wife of a
New Orleans businessman. She is not content with her marriage and the lifestyle
that she must conform to. She changes from her role as a devoted wife and mother
to a woman who becomes engrossed in discovering her own identity. She then goes
through a series of experiences to satisfy herself mentally, emotionally, and
sexually. She changes from the woman of those times, who always stuck to
conformity, to someone who worries and is only responsible for herself. It is
Mademoiselle who influences her to become awakened in such a way. However this
very awakening will be her downfall. She will then begin to isolate herself from
those around her and eventually choose suicide as an escape. A main factor towards
the development of Ednawould be Mademoiselle Reiz. Her influence plays a vital
role towards her awakening and change to her life style. From the moment she
heard Reiz play she had begun to be influenced. The very first chords
Mademoiselle Reisz struck on the piano sent a keen tremor down Mrs. Pontellier s
spinal column. It was not the first time she had heard an artist at the piano. Perhaps
it was the first time she was ready, perhaps the first time her being was tempered to
take an impress of the abiding truth. (Chopin 29) . It can be said that the change in
Edna was sparked by this very moment. From here on Edna
Il Grande Sogno Essay
Il Grande Sogno, otherwise known as the big dream, is a complex story of love. It
just happens to be during a time of political turmoil, when the student protests in the
1960s were happening. In 1968 many students led occupations occurred in the
University of Rome. In similar fashion, the movement raised in several Eastern Bloc
countries following World War II. The goals of the student movement were that of
social reform; such as anti capitalism, anti imperialism, anti racism, civil and political
rights, environmentalism, feminism, and liberalization. To put this in another way,
the student movement was an embrace of the New Leftwing political party. On March
1, 1968, the right wing and left wing students stood together at Rome University....

the Civil Rights Movement in American was tremendously violent. The movements

. The college weren t just calling for it. They embraced the New Left politics to a

of Valle Giulia. The Battle of Valle Giulia happened on March 1, 1968. Around 4,000
students gathered with full anticipation of occupying the Sapienza University of
Rome. The students were met by policemen, who turned to violence when the
students started throwing stones and other objects. The leaders were part of the
National Vanguard Youth. All in all, there were 148 injuries for police, 478 injuries
to student, and 228 arrested. The formal leaders of the National Vanguard are Stefano
Delle Chiaie and Adriano Tilgher. Both movement sought out the right for the
National Fascist Party to be re found, but they both ended in judicial struggles.
The ending of Il Grande Sogno is a shining example that the student movement
ended badly for those involved. Libero and Laura end up watching as their world
crumbles around them. First, their father passes away. Second, her brothers and
Libero go to jail. For the grand finally she loses the loves of her life, Nicola and

Multiple Plot Lines In The Heroes Of Olympus
I believe that the multiple plot lines element of the Heroes of Olympus series plays
a big role in this book and all of the books in the series. It shows how all of the
characters have different struggles and points of view. One of the half bloods that
has a very important prospective in the House of Hades is the son of Ares, Frank
Zhang. He goes through a lot of struggles and self doubt throughout the story. When
they visit Venice, they come across these monsters that have poisonous breath that
can kill someone. Frank also has his Roman dad Fighting with his Greek dad in his

how each of them were talking about their past and their future while they are

in the story that shows how intense multiple plot lines in a story can be is when
Frank is fighting the Lemures in venice. Frank tried to think. There were too many

is useful to make a diagram of the overall process: Note that in this diagram,

The Gantt chart shows that we are using at most three trays in the filling activity at
any given time (and in fact this is only because this particular plan calls for filling
three trays in rapid succession, after which two of them sit waiting for an
opportunity to get into the oven). There is never more than one tray in the oven at
any given time, nor is there ever any more than one tray cooling. So we could
certainly get by with five trays, and maybe four or even three if we adjust the
mixing and filling part of the operation. On the other hand, trays are cheap, and it
would be a shame if we ever had to keep the oven (the bottleneck) waiting for lack
of a tray. It is reasonable to have plenty of trays on hand, whether that means five,
or ten, or whatever. 6. Are there any changes you can make in your production
plans that will allow you to make better cookies or more cookies in less time or at
lower cost? For example, is there a bottleneck operation in your production process
that you can expand cheaply? What is the effect of adding another oven? How
much would you be willing to pay for an additional oven? The bottleneck is the
oven, which means there is no point in looking at expanding the capacity of any
other resource unless the operation s baking capacity is expanded first. If we had
two ovens, we could make cookies faster. But how much faster? This gets
complicated, but we can think about it by looking at the capacities
Bill Clinton Legacy
The forty second president of the United States was Bill Clinton. Running for
president in 1992 and winning two terms of office, he was widely successful.
Clinton had an active presidency, passing many laws within his eight years as
president. Part of this success was due to his childhood and his distinctly marked path
to presidency. His actions gave him a particular legacy, to both him and the First
Lady. Throughout Bill Clintons presidency, he was influenced by his own life, and for
the opportunity to better the average American s life (Clinton).
Clinton did not grow up in a traditional family. Three months before William
Jefferson Blythe III was born, his father died in a car crash on his way to visit
Virginia Blythe, Bill Clinton s mother. In 1950, when Bill Blythe was four years
old, his mother married Roger Clinton, who became such a large influence in
Clinton s life that he took the family name in 1963. He was now William Jefferson

rights in the 1960s. He called for Americans to meet the new century embracing the

Multiculturalism In Music Essay
Visualize in your head a rock band, and a rapper. What kind of clothes are they
wearing. What lyric styles are they singing in? And what color are they? Ongoing
stereotypes suggest that the rock band is a group of white musicians and the rapper

stereotypes are untrue. Music is defined as The art of organizing tones to produce a
coherent sequence of sounds to elicit an aesthetic responsein a listener (Morris, 864).

It gave them a feeling of freedom and joy that had been lacking from previous
music styles. Although rock became an instant hit with the youth, the music
caused displeasure in the adult world. Rock was criticized for juvenile delinquency
to loosened sexual standards (R amp;RG, 27). The most notorious example of what
adults didn t like in rock music can be found in Elvis Presley. Elvis was the first
white performer to expose an audience to rock music. However, the free will style
Elvis exhibited was not a real big hit with the adults, where he was condemned as a
whirling dervish of sex.
Rock music then went on a tear, evolving into many different styles and forms. As
rock matured and diversified, many new artists and distinct styles emerged. Such
examples are blues, featured by B.B. King and Ruth Brown. Harmonious styles such
as The Orioles, the energetic swing sounds of Little Richard, the role model rock
star Pat Boone, and the folk rock of the Everly Brothers. Rock usually evolved to
what was happening in the world during that time period, such as war, politics,
current events, and lifestyles. Another aspect that evolved rock music was
technology. As more and more technology was developed, more integrated sounds
were brought into rock, eventually resulting into such music as pop and disco. Music
was now able to have artificial beats that traditional instruments could not produce.

Essay about The Western Formula
A seemingly traditional approach towards the Western frontier is the reason for John
Cawelti s assessment from The Six Gun Mystique. His description of the Western
formula being far easier to define than that of the detective story ; may clearly be a
paradigm for many authors, but not particularly for Stephen Crane. The standards
Cawelti has set forth for a successful Western is quite minimal by thought, but at the
same time relevant. Crane signifies a different perspective to these standards. Crane s
thoughts for the use of the Westernformula are just approaches towards the west,
from the introductory setting to the coarse grin one cowboy would make towards
another. These do not in fact relate to Cawelti s Western formula. Crane s... Show

Stephen Crane shapes The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky, ; entirely around the bride
and how she will enter a new life in the small town of Yellow Sky. The only
instance of a possible Western formula is as a cowboy by the name of Scratchy
Wilson points a gun at Jack Potter, the husband and town marshal. However, when
Scratchy realizes that Potter had gotten married, he put down his gun and walked
away. He moved a pace backward, and his arm, with the revolver, dropped to his
side ; (Crane 311). This contradicts the black and white situation Cawelti would
expect. The fight between good and evil had risen and it must be taken care of
through violence, perhaps a draw. This did not happen though, and that is why
Crane s perspective towards a Western is quite far from the formula. Apparently,
the moral and ethical code that Crane acknowledges in his stories is his main
concern. The story can climax, and desire be sated, only if the moral applause
meter reads way of the scale in the hero s favor ; (Tompkins 236). Crane describes
Scratchy Wilson as a man when sober cannot hurt a fly, but while intoxicated will
hurt anything. The black and white issue turns gray by giving the villain a heart.
Throughout the entire story, the ideas of violence arise, but the actions upon them
do not. This is a very bad path Crane chose if he was looking to depict a formula
western. If this story was to follow the standards
According to Foucault, Archaeology Is a Method, Whereas...
There are a number of continuities of themes and interests in Foucault s work.
There is also evidence of shifts of emphasis, changes of direction, developments
and reformations, which have led to a number of critiques of Foucault s work to
talk about breaks, differences and discontinuities within his work. One moment
least a shift of emphasis does appear to be present is in the writings which emerged
after the Archaeology of Knowledge and after the brief cultural and political event
known as May 68 in France. Archaeology constitutes a way of doing historical
analysis of systems of thought or discourse. To be more precise archaeology seeks to
describe the archive, he term employed by Foucault to refer to the general system of
formation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, archaeology did not disappear from Foucault s analyses; it retained a
secondary presence and continued to serve as a methodology for isolating and
analysing local discursivities in a manner which was complementary to genealogy.
In fact there are a number of links and continuities to be found in Foucault s
respective articulations of archaeology and genealogy which undermine any
conception of a categorical break or change of direction. In both the archaeological
investigations and later in the genealogical analyses no special priority is accorded
to science. If there is a change it is that the relatively detached view of scientific
discourse as one form of existence arising from a discursive formation is displaced
by a more committed position which questions and criticises the effects of power
associated with the scientific hierarchisation of knowledges. Again in both
archaeological and genealogical analysis a comparable conception of history is
found in which dispersion, disparity, difference and division are conceived to lie
behind the historical beginnings of things rather than a singular point or moment of
origin. Finally, in the Archaeology of Knowledge, Foucault anticipates a very
different kind of analysis of knowledge, one that would not be oriented towards the
history of sciences but would take a different form. The possibility of an
Crohn s Genetic Disease
Crohn s was first described by a man named Dr. Burrill B. Crohn in the year 1932
(Crohn s Colitis Foundation of America, 2016). This disease is described as an
abnormal inflammation of the intestine walls, typically happening in the ileum,
which is the lower part of the intestine or the small bowel, as you can see in Figure 1.
Although, Crohn s can affect any part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract (Genetics
Home Reference, 2016). Crohn s is relatively an uncommon disease, there are
about 33,000 new cases a yea but it doesn t discriminate when it comes to age or
culture. There is not a certain age or gender one has to be to develop Crohn s, but it
is generally found in male and females from North America or Western Europe, ages

In more severe cases of crohn s people may experience symptoms like intense
abdominal pain that makes moving difficult, great loss of blood in a short period
of time that can cause dizziness or fainting, sudden fever above 102 degrees,
vomiting, and profuse diarrhea (Jill Sklar, 2007). In mild or moderate cases
patients could experience symptoms like increase in diarrhea, rectal pain, slight
increase in bleeding and cramping, and tender spot in the abdomen (Jill Sklar,
2007). Having Crohn s can cause other complications other than the symptoms that
come along with having the disease. Crohn s can give a person greater risks for
conditions like cancer or thinning of the bones, or cause complications like a
Stricture or a fistula. A stricture is when part of the gastrointestinal tract start to
become very narrow, it happens because of the buildup of scar tissue that forms in
the wall of the gut (Ben Foster, 2016). A fistula occurs when the inflammation
causes a channel to form between two separate organs (Ben Foster, 2016). In
figure 2, there is a picture of what the normal small bowel is supposed to look like.
Then there is a picture of what it looks like when the small bowel is inflamed due
to Crohn s. Finally there is a picture of what it looks like when a fistula forms, in
this case one formed between the small bowel and the Sigmoid
Culture And Its Impact On Culture
In the globalized world we live in today, No one man is an island the same can said
about the countries. Every country is interconnected with trade routes, internet and
roads. The world has made great strides to connect everything and everyone, but how
has that affected culture? Culture is defined as the quality in a person or society that
arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, and
scholarly pursuits. (Dictinary.com), so how has worldwide organizations like the

Right now the WHO has around 100 open programs that span the vast corners of the
earth all with the common goal, to better the world. Some of the projects range from
informing the world with pamphlets, researching a deadly disease and giving medical
aid and treatment to third world nations. These projects are affecting the worldwide
culture by linking knowledge between one party and another, mixing them al
together. This is great because it benefits all humans common knowledge on how to
defeat a virus is valuable information that needs to be shared.
One of the many projects that the WHO are working on is to give immunizations to
third world countries and improvised communities. One place that the WHO is
operating in is India, India has the second largest population, but its healthcare per
person is one of the lowest in the world. India only spends four percent of their total
country s budget on health expenditure, this roughly equates to $215 U.S. dollars per
person. (World Health Observatory) If one would look at the country with the third
largest population, The United States of America. The U.S. spends 17.1 percent of the
total budget on health expenditures, which is near $9,146 per head in the U.S. This is
one of the reasons the WHO chose to help the Indian people and government with
immunizations, because the government can t afford to upgrade or pay for healthcare
in the country.

Introduction Healey and Zimmerman state (2010) that an innovative program will
require not only team effort, but input from community leaders as well as

messages, so that the target population can take action and pass on the message from
its memorable key components. An effective campaign then, will devise under the

The Top Five Personal Values
The top five personal values I consider most important are love, freedom, family
security, equality, and recognition. These values all share the theme that they
involve other people consider other people s thoughts. The bottom five values I
consider to be the least important are having a sense of accomplishment, union with
God, pleasure, achievement, and dollar reward. These values appear to be more
individualistic values. The bottom 5 values are still important in life, however, they
personally appear to be less morally important. Personal values are what make a
person. People are born to appreciate certain values better or learn how to. My values
show that the thoughts of others greatly affect me more so, than my own personal
values. This might be, because I have severe anxiety, and the thoughts of others are
important to me Love, friendship and intimacy are most important values of all
because these things can make people feel whole. Boyfriends, friends, and even
family members may come and go but the feeling of being with these people will
never be forgotten. Being loved and having a close personal bond with a person
makes you feel safe and comfortable. Many philosophers believe humansare
gregarious by nature, so we are bounded to be social with each other. However,
being able to love someone else is just as satisfying as being loved. It s the most
important valuebecause it prevents people from feeling alone and gives them a
purpose in life. To love a person is to

For fuel injections the overall set up tends be on the higher priced side, and at times
can weigh more than traditional technology. Everything aside this technology makes
it less difficult to adjust the fuel to adapt to factors like, track conditions, or perhaps
the rider s preferences. The program works by pumping fuel into an injector, which
then sprays the fuel into the body of the throttle. Thus sending a signal to inject a
calculated amount of fuel, after receiving information from various sensors.
Technology of this type can be extremely beneficial for the average rider, with
sensors to monitor things like crank position, throttle position, engine temperature,
air temperature, and barometric pressure. Fuel injection (FI) has become the
preferred way to deliver fuel on four stroke motocross and off road motorcycles. It
provides superior throttle response, aids starting, allows the engine to run smoother
and operate better when temperatures and altitude change, and even improves gas
mileage (Gustafson 1). Now, instead of taking time to haltingly adjust settings to the
best of a rider or mechanics abilities, there are fuel injectors to shorten the work
time. Riders can hook up their ECM (Electronic Control Module), and the computer
will do all of the work to adjust settings, monitor temperatures and positions, and

gave Peter a bloody nose on Friday. She wouldn t do any work at all. (Hayden 122)
This quote illustrates how Sheila went on a rampage while Torey was gone. Sheila
knew that she could make Torey angry by refusing to cooperate with anyone else and
being destructive in the classroom. Torey Hayden s purpose is to show that Sheila let

The Current Construction Site ( Cdsm Interpretation
Centre...
CDSM Scheme Executive Summary:
Introduction:
The current construction site (CDSM interpretation centre scheme) is located in
Combe Down village on the east side of rock hall lane near Combe Road. The
CDSM interpretation centre scheme is part of ВЈ161 million Comb Down Stone
Mine project which is estimated about ВЈ1.5 million and compromise of eight
residential houses, one residential flat and one interpretation centre.
History back ground:
Historical aspects are long associated with the city of Bath which is distinguished by
its buildings and Roman characteristics. The Southern area of Bath is the location of
Combe Down, which has been understood to be of archaeological significance. It is
this attribute that gave rise to the extraction and quarrying of high quality stone as far
back as 1720.
Ralph Allen Yard (located in the eastern section of Combe Down) is an area that
malting s and industrial activity had been prominent to certain extent. However, over
several decades, the yard itself has been subjected to continuous alteration leading to
structural deterioration and redundancy to its use. The historic significance
associated to structural elements of the yard include its exterior walls, which
comprised of stone (Bath Stone). Modern practice had altered these walls with the
introduction of steel frames, which has the potential to reduce the character of the
streetscape.
Health and safety:
For the health and safety of the CDSM interpretation centre scheme, number of
Telemedicine In Korea
Article Review Prerequisites for Effective Implementation of Telemedicine: Focusing
on Current Situations in Korea
INFS 430 10 Global Issues in Information Systems February 15, 2016
SUMMARYTelemedicine is the use telecommunications and information technology
to provide healthcare to patients located in the remote or distant locations. For
example: people staying in the mountainous areas or islands can get medical services
right at their home with the help of smart devices or patients who cannot go to the
hospital for some reason. This article discusses the prerequisites for implementation
and use of telemedicine in Korea. There is a study that was performed comparing the
utilization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the suggestions provided to help with the research seems appropriate. One
suggestion that can be added to the list is to include the pharmacies (private or
government) in the telemedicine plan as there may be some times when a person is
not able to go the pharmacy to pick up their medicine and the pharmacies can deliver
the same to the address. This means that during the discussion, one more party have
to be on board for the development and implementation of telemedicine systems that
is the pharmacies that are affiliated to the medical facilities. One thing that did catch
my eye is that in the author s opinion, communication between cancer specialists of
tertiary care medical facilities and doctors at the primary and secondary hospitals is
not easy to establish due to geographical and institutional problems shows that they
are not confident on the technological development that the telemedicine system is
capable of bring to the community. The reason is because there are some
applications (to be used in the smart devices) that being developed which doctors in
various geographical locations can use to discuss the condition or illness of the patient
and come to a conclusion of the best fit treatment plan. Conclusion section is also an
example of weak writing and abrupt ending. In my opinion, this article lacks good
writing, strong facts, graphs and
Love And Love In The Book Of Love Possessed By Gabriel...
In the book Of Love and Other Demons written by Gabriel Marquez, Main
Character Sierva Maria is a young child whose existence had been neglected from
birth by her father, The second Marquis of Casalduero, and her mother, a once
powerful Merchant. She lives her life, peacefully, among the slaves in their quarters
until she is one day bitten by a rabid dog. Once the news had spread of the bite, the
question of not only life and death, but demonic possessionand lovecome into play.
The article, By Love Possessed written by A.S Byatt, closely analyzes the life Sierva
suffered after the bite and if the demons in the title of the work are really the ones the
Church believes is possessing her. Love is subliminally introduced throughout the
piece and the only demonnamed in the title. Knowing that love is the worst demon
of all, the other demons mentioned in the work never resided in Sierva, but in the
sins of man. When Sierva was bitten, the only people who knew about it were the
slaves. After a few rituals, the bite slowly began to heal and she showed no signs
of contracting the deadly disease of rabies. Once her father, the Marquis, made the
discovery of what had occurred, he made Sierva live within the house instead of the
slave quarters. Not suited to the environment, Sierva never spoke and rarely showed
any form of emotion. The Marquis did everything he could to figure out how to save
her, not only from possibly contracting rabies, but from what was making her act
What Is Beauty In Society
The definition of beauty can vary between person to person. For centuries, beauty
was seen to satisfy other people but oneself. Beauty can be judged on the clothes one
puts on to wear, the makeup that is being used, the hairstyle that keeps up with the
latest fashion and even the shape of one s body. In this generation, we are raised in
an indestructible bubble of judgement. Beauty can also be seen as an ornament.
People cover their Christmas trees with ornaments to make it more appealing to
the eye, the same goes with human beings. Specifically females try to present
themselves in ways society tells them is right. However, underneath all of the
ribbons and ornaments is a simple tree with great personality. Beauty is in the eye
of the beholder. This statement is used vigorously throughout society and is seen
as an empowering statement with women. However, it should be rewritten as,
beauty is in the eye of society. Society tells people how to live their life and how to
present themselves in a proper way. Nevertheless, millions of human beings are
getting plastic surgery to change their outermost appearance. Starting from a nose
job to botox all over the face, individuals spend so much time and money to make
themselves look unrecognizable With this being said, plastic surgery is not a bad
commodity, as it is all a personal choice to an individual. It enhances one s features
and makes a person feel better than their best self but in reality the only element that
matters is the inner beauty.
Growing up in this generation, they are influenced by every person in a magazine.
Society altogether, must look past the pictures in Vogue or Cosmopolitan and look
deeper in the beauty that is within us all. Children nowadays are growing up and
are expected to look like America s Next Top Model and they are not focusing in
school, because they are too busy looking at what their friends are wearing and
their outermost appearance. Mind is greater than looks, so if students did not focus
on what society would think of them, they would most likely score higher on tests.
Inner beauty is more important than physical beauty, because it is a representation
of a person s true self. Judging a book by its cover can often be
Serial Killers And The Social Learning Theory Essay
Serial killers are usually made because of a significant event/events that may have
happened during their childhood. Albert DeSalvo may be one of those serial killers.
He grew up in an abusive household. He was taught at an early age about sex and
physical abuse. This behavior demonstrates the characteristics of the social learning
theory. This paper will go into great detail on Albert DeSalvo s family background
and the crimes that he committed in his lifetime, give a brief description of social
learning theory, discuss differential association, and show how Albert DeSalvo and
the social learning theory are related. Albert Henry DeSalvo was born on
September 3, 1931 in Chelsea, Massachusetts (Vronsky, 2004, p. 76). His mother
married his father, who was an alcoholic that was arrested numerous times, when
she was fifteen (Vronsky, 2004). Albert DeSalvo s father had beaten the children
repeatedly and often forced his wife to have sexual relations in front of them
(Evans, 2003, p. 549). These acts had a major effect on Albert s life and personality.
According to Vronsky (2004), Albert DeSalvo was once sold to a farmer in Maine
along with his two sisters for nine dollars (p. 76). There is no record of what
happened while they were on the farm. His mother divorced his father after he was
put in jail when Albert DeSalvo was twelve (Vronsky, 2004). According to Vronsky
(2004), Albert felt alone as a child and did not allow himself to become close to
anyone except for his

Failed investments in technology may not only cause financial losses, but also lead
to dissatisfaction amongst employees (Venkatesh, 2000). Whilst, there exists a large
amount of literature on technological adoption, most of the research undertaken deals
with this in the context of individual consumers rather than at a firm level.
Furthermore, in the case of wearable technology, the main case study of this
particular research, as a current example of a radical technological innovation, there is
a lack of breadth in terms of the literature available, which can be expected from its
relative infancy. Therefore, this literature review will serve as a treatise to not only
critically analyse the seminal research in the broader field of technological innovation
and adoption, but also to extrapolate the information gathered in the context of my
own research, to provide a fresh insight on technological adoption at an organisational
level, with a special interest in the future of wearable technology at this level.
2.1.1 What is technological innovation?
According to Sagar (2013) Technology innovation is the process through which new
technologies are developed and brought into widespread use. Typically in literature, a
distinction will be made between the different types of innovation. The type of
innovation mentioned in this research, will refer to product innovation, as wearable

Physical Contact In Olympic Hockey
Did you know that woman can t check or have any physical contact in olympic
hockey! Hi I will be showing you guys some similarities and differences between
NHL hockey and Olympic hockey.
Here is some history about the sport of hockey, hockey is the oldest ball and stick
game, it dates back to 2000 BC in persia, the name hockey comes from the french
hocquet or shepards crook which is a crooked stick used to hit a ball, ice hockey was
introduced into the olympics in 1920, the first all women s team played in the
1998 olympics. Man that was some interesting background history now we will
move on to some events that are different between the two. In the NHL there is no
1st, 2nd, or 3rd there can only be 1 winner unlike the olympic hockey you can win
1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The awards are different too like in the NHL you win MVP(Most
valuable player), Stanley Cup, and the Conn Smythe Trophy, the player awarded for
the conn smythe trophy is the most valuable player for the season. There are 21 total
trophies players can get awarded arranging from MVP to the National cup. Did you
know that Canada has won 8 gold medals and is the current holder for most hockey
medals in the olympics. Now i will be telling you the differences in the rules ... Show

Also both ice rinks are different, the NHL rinks are 200 feet long and 85 feet wide,
but olympic rinks are 210 feet long and 98 feet wide. In the NHL teams can dress
18 players and 1 goalie on the ice, but in the Olympics you can have 2 goalies on
ice and dress 20 players, another weird rules are goalies can t play the puck behind
the net, if they do they will get a 2 minute minor for goaltender infraction, but in the
olympics goalies can play the puck behind the net. Now we will move on to some
famous olympic
I Am A Monk From A Small Church
Hello my fellow Christians. I come to you today in deep personal peril. I have
built my career making Icon frames my entire life. I once felt I was helping people
seek refuge with our glorious god. Connecting them to not just to our holy saints
but also to Christ himself. Yet now I stand wondering if I have strayed them wrong.
Have I sent my fellow men, woman, and even children to damnation while I profit. I
am a monk before an artisan, yet I may have cursed my fellow followers to hell.
This is why I am here, I want find out if what I have been doing helping or hurting
innocent souls, and if so to repent my sins. I look toward you all and ask that you
look at this with not your minds or wallets, but instead with our souls and look
toward god for guidance. In these trying times we need him more then ever
I am not a very educated man; I am a monk from a small church in Constantinople. I
make religious object, including icon frames to help myself and others connect to
god. I make very intricate frames with precious metals, such as gold, and jewels for
churches (Carr pp. 195) but I also make simple ones for the peasants to have in their
homes. I take time making sure each frame, no matter how simple, highlights the
holiness of who ever is depicted in the icon.
When I view the final work, I always viewed it as a celebration of the person,
especially Christ. I look at it a remember Christ s sacrifices for my sins and the rest of
this world filled with sins of every kind. When
Essay China s One-Child Policy
A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of
life (Quote Garden). This quote by Isadora James shows the importance of having
siblings and large families, a lifestyle China doesn t have. The one child policy has
created many problems for China after it was created by the Communist party to
control population growth; however, China is taking steps towards relaxing it, and
many more people are speaking out. The one child policyhas caused many more
issues than it has solved. The restrictions people must follow are causing a lot of the
problems. One of the issues is that China will not relax the policy (Olesen 1). By
limiting urban families to one child in a family, China is trying to conserve... Show

Parents of only children do not always realize their child needs social education
(Hua 3). Only children also have a tendency to be spoiled and see themselves
superior to everyone else (Hua 1). Professor Chen, the founder of the Young Child
s Socialization Project states, IQ s of single children are not much different from
those of other children, but their ability to cooperate, share, help, and exercise self
control is lacking. Professor Chen is stating only children have a harder time
interacting because they don t have the practice at home (Hua 3). When these
children grow up, they are going to have a harder time fitting in with society. Their
social skills could potentially be lacking compared to those of a person who grew
up with siblings. Social skills are very important in today s society, and children
lacking siblings could have a very hard time fitting in.
Many babies have been taken by family planning officials. The officials told
families the law allowed them to confiscate their babies (Demick 4). Many families
were even forced into giving up their daughters by being beaten or threatened.
Officials have also tricked parents into signing away their parental rights (Demick
2). Babies were taken by coercion, fraud, or kidnapping, and the officials just
pretended the babies were abandoned (Demick 1). The incentive behind officials
taking babies was the $3,000 paid by adoptive parents (Demick 1). Some officials
Isaac Campos Book, Home Grown, about Mexico s Use of...
Isaac Campos wrote this book in order to provide a background history of Mexico s
use of marijuana and the effect it had in Mexican society. He displays marijuana s
extent both, socially and politically. He scripted his book to carry the reader from the
arrival of cannabis (would later be referred to as marijuana) in Mexicothrough the
substance s prohibitionin 1920. With this book, he attempts to decipher the
psychoactive riddle of cannabis in nineteenth and early twentieth century Mexico
(p.8). The psychoactive riddle is the way the drug, set, and setting are imposed on the
resulting influence of marijuana. Home Grown is significant in understanding the
War on Drugs and the impact marijuana has had on society in North America. It
provided history of notable events due to the production and prohibition of the drug
ranging from its introduction until the 1920s when it was banned. Campos argued
that the negative stereotypes of marijuana, often thought to have originated in the
United States, actually originated in Mexico as a way to control the use of the drug.
Citizens of Mexico related the drug to causing the users to go mad, hence the reason
of the term Reefer Madness. Campos presented a series of questions in his
introduction that he used to build his argument. Were the stereotypical effects really
caused by the use of marijuana? Why were the stereotypes believed so easily? Why
did the media not investigate into the stereotypes? How and where did the
Walmart vs Target
What if Wal Mart and Target Joined Forces? Today s economy and the increased
unemployment rate have made the average American household drastically change
their spending habits. The average household has to function on surviving with less.
Which brings me to my topic. We have become a savvier shopper; ultimately
looking for the establishment can offer the most for our money with out sacrificing
quality. We have become bargain shoppers . When I think of a discount store two
major companies come to mind Target and Wal Mart. The merchandise and services
provided are pretty much comparable. Many of its customer population shops there

Analysis Of Glengarry Glen Ross By David Mamet
Everyday people use speech to relay their thoughts and feelings. Some people s jobs
revolve around speaking to others to convince them that they have a better idea for
their investments and that they know what is best for the customer. Such jobs
include those of salesmen. Their sole job is to convince their customers that it is in
their best interest to buy their product that they are trying to sell. The film adaptation
of the play Glengarry Glen Rosswritten by David Mamet, illustrates how salesmen
are able to convince other groups of people that they know what is in the best
interest of their customers by each salesman s particular word choice and speech. In
the movie, the customers are often weak men that are not able to stand up for... Show

For example, in the beginning of the film, Blake comes into Premier Properties and
unleashes himself and goes off on each of the salesmen. He makes them question
their own actions specifically by the way he speaks. At one point, Levene is trying
to make a cup of coffee and Blake mandates him by saying, Put that coffee down.
Coffee s for closers only and Levene listens (Glengarry Glen Ross). Later in the
same scene, he is able to get Aaronow, Moss, and Levene s attention by telling them
that they are all fired and the only way to get their job back is by earning it. Blake
is an expert in engaging others and makes them listen to him no matter what it
takes. He constantly uses profanity to emasculate the salesmen, which gets his
points across that he means business. As another example, Roma is also able to
persuade others by weakening them and making them feel as if he is the only one
that can help. Roma is able to get one of his customers, Lingk, to close a deal by
first getting him drunk, and then follows it up by appealing to Lingk s emotions and
being personable. Roma also uses literary devices such as, repetition and rhetorical
questions in order to convince him to buy the property:
Stocks, bonds, objects of art, what are they? An opportunity. To what? To make
money? Perhaps. To lose money? Perhaps. To indulge and learn about ourselves?
Perhaps. So fucking what? What is it? They are an opportunity, that s all they are.

Career And College Research Paper Essay
Career and College Research Paper
I decided to go with a career in astronomy. An astronomer is a scientist who tries to
understand the wonders of the Universe as well the wonders beyond our universe.
Astronomers also study the stars, planets, and other galaxies ( Careers in Astronomy
| IAU ). I chose a career in astronomy because I have always been fascinated by space
and how the universe works. It is extremely important to understand education or
training requirements, skills or talents needed, the salary and benefits offered, and the
duties for a particular career when making the decision. The job location for
astronomers depends greatly on if the astronomer in question works for a private
industry, the government, a college, or a government supported institution. Almost
one third of astronomers work for the government or government supported
institutions. The remainder of astronomers work either in a private industry on some
type of space related projects, in science centers, at planetariums, or in some other
type of educational and public outreach efforts (Strobel). Although astronomers spend
a lot of time away from home and their families, they mostly work in an office like
environment. Astronomers work full time, but since they are more than likely
observing something in space, they might have to work during the night so the sun
does not interfere with their observations ( Occupational Outlook Handbook
Physicists and Astronomers ). Anyone who is interested in

I love the excitement it brings me every time i smack the ball out of the park. The game of softball was created on Thanksgiving day 1887, but did not become a NCAA approved sport until 1910. (http://www.athleticscholarships.net/history of softball.htm) One person that i look up to as a role model is Jennie Finch. She is one of the best softball players that has played in the olympics multiple times. Not only did she just play in the olympics, but won a gold medal in the 2004 olympics, and a silver medal in 2008. She started to love the sport when she was young at age. She recognized the sport when she was a bat girl for the bruins baseball team. From that moment on, she began to fall in love with the sport. Her first time playing softball was around the age of five. Three years later, she started to practice as a pitcher. She wanted to work her way up to be the best in softball. As years past, she reached her goal and before she knew it she started playing in the olympics! Her competitive nature was obvious from the start. She had great athletic ability. She was the best on her team; faster, bigger, and stronger than most of them. • 4. What Are The Four Types Of Innovation Radical,... Discussion Question 7.2 Describe a firm you think has been highly innovative. Which of the four types of innovation radical, incremental, disruptive, or architectural did it use? Did the firm use different types over time? Chipotle is the leader in the fast casual market, with over 1,900 locations, $3.21 billion in annual revenue, and the ability to serve up to 300 customers an hour. It has innovated the restaurant market by providing reasonably priced scratch made meals, containing local ingredients, all within the confines of a pleasing aesthetic environment (Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc., 2014; Kaplan, 2011). To reach its success, the firm utilized architectural innovation by stealing components of various types of restaurants already in existence. The company appropriated its rapid meal preparation methods from fast food chains such Subway and Quiznos, adopted its provision of quality food from more upscale casual Mexican restaurants, and implemented a locally based supply chain similar to that seen at many local farm to table establishments. This convergence of different properties came together right as the millennial generation was coming of age and demand higher quality, natural, and locally sourced ingredients in meals that could receive quickly. The company has also attempted to utilize an incremental innovation approach by removing all CMO ingredients and testing new foods such as breakfast items, soup, and chorizo sausage (The Associated Press, 2015; Peterson,

Experimental Data Using Multiple Linear Regression Abstract: Ignition delay times were measured behind reflect shock waves for the lean DME/n pentane fuel blends with DME blending ratios from 0% to 100% over a wide range of conditions: pressures from 2 to 20 atm, temperatures from 1100 to 1600 K and equivalence ratio of 0.5. Correlations of ignition delay times of DME/n pentane were deduced from the experimental data using multiple linear regression. Comparison between measured ignition delay times and numerical predictions by five available kinetic mechanisms, namely NUI Galway pentane isomer model, JetSurF2.0 model, LLNL n alkanes Model, NUI Galway Mech_56.54 Model and Wang s DME model, was conducted. NUI Galway pentane isomer model shows good predictions for ignition delay times of DME, n pentane and their blends which was conducted in this study to interpret the effect of DME addition on the ignition chemistry of n pentane. The concept, function, and regulation of a physical currency whether coin or bill, falls under the control of the banks and government of the nation. In the case of Britain, several acts known collectively as the Grenville Acts became notorious for being a catalyst to the American Revolution. Searching for a form of prevention from use of valueless coinage for payment of debts, one act, known as the Currency Act of 1764, disallowed the minting of currency within the British colonies. (Selesky 293). Many problems arose, but in the short term, a solution had been created to satisfy the needs of the empire temporarily as they progressed in terms of technology and geopolitical power. I first had knowledge of the Charles Manson case after it was referenced in the TV show, Criminal Minds, after a cult killed 7 people. Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Manson s life of crime started from as young as 10 years old. His first crime was robbing a liquor store in his home town. During his youth, he was continually sent to juvenile detention centers. However, time and time again he escaped and committed more petty crimes. In 1952, he was sent to the Federal Reformatory in Chillicothe, Ohio. Up until 1966, Manson was constantly in and out of prison. He was finally released from Terminal Island in 1967. Once out of prison, Manson made his to San Francisco with his early followers, including Mary Brunner and about 19 other women. This was the beginning of Manson s cult, The Manson Family. The Family later relocated to Spahn s Movie Ranch. After hearing The Beatles White Album, Manson was convinced that the song Helter Sketler prophesied a race war between Africans Americans Caucasians. Anne Frank once said, In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart. Anne and her family had to go through a lot of tough times during the holocaust , but I agree with Anne, people are still good at heart. Reading this book, I noticed that there are a lot of kind hearted actions in this book. I am agreeing with Anne and her actions are what prove this quote right. It should fetch a good price. And, by the way, will you get me cigarettes? I don t care what kind they are get all you can. To me this is very rude, he is selling one of Mrs. Van Daan s most prized possessions. This coat means alot to Mrs. Van Daan, and he is selling it, for what, cigarettes. He does not think of anyone other than himself, and is very selfish. He is getting something for himself, that he doesn t even need. Mrs.Van Daan is crushed that he is doing this, and he doesn t even bother to acknowledge her sadness. As I just acknowledged Mr. Van Daan s terrible and insensitive behavior, I still side with Anne. Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone messes up, but people will always be good at heart. No matter what, people can bounce back and prove their kindness, that is why I still side with

(and gay people in general as a Christian) A few months ago I faced a difficult time in my life. I was homeless and I had nowhere to stay with my newborn baby. To my dismay, there was no family who would have the ability to take me in. They had helped me enough in their eyes regarding sheltering me, so I was abruptly kicked out of my grandmothers house I was staying in and face the option to find shelter in a homeless shelter. But let me back up a second. A couple weeks before my life made a turn for the worse, I met a girl on Facebook who was a photographer. We collaborated together on eventually meeting up to take pictures of my newborn, however, at that time I did not have any money because I was on maternity leave and not working. Looking at her beautiful work as a photographer, I knew one day I would have her take pictures of my baby I just did not know when. Then suddenly one day she messaged me and offered me free pictures of my newborn in exchange of being able to build her newborn portfolio. Thrilled at her offer, I jumped at the opportunity, literally jumping in my car the same day she made the offer. I drove to her apartment

  • 15. The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998 Literature Review: The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998 For the past few centuries, political scandals have become a permanent fixture in US politics. Most recently, when we think of scandals in American politics the 1998 Clinton Lewinsky Affair comes to mind. Though unlike its predecessors this scandal was not one of constitutional crises such as Nixon s Watergate in the 1970s, but it instead concerned the extramarital affairs of the then incumbent president, William J. Clinton. Bill Clinton, as he is more commonly known by, was elected as the 42nd US President in 1993 and served the maximum two terms in office, ending in 2001. Under Clinton the American economy benefited greatly and financial stability became more of a reality for many. However Clinton s presidential legacy is also marked by his affair with Monica Lewinsky and his impeachment. He had become the second sitting president in history to be impeached by the House of Representatives. The Lewinsky affair shocked the public and the media along with the right wing were keen to see Clintons demise. Washington became even more vicious as political opponents of the President pursed him to no extent. Though officially he could not be charged for having an affair, he could be held accountable for lying under oath and misleading the jury during a trial. Clinton s adulterous affair split opinions and became a talking point for all. Many accounts were written about the Lewinsky affair, all with differing viewpoints on the

Homeostasis Research Paper Homeostasis; it refers to the maintenance of a steady state in the body (optimum level) through hormonal and nervous mechanisms despite the external environment or fluctuations. It is important as it regulates normal body function. It is required for biochemical processes which work efficiently within a specific temperature and pH range and therefore the body must maintain these conditions. Homeostasisworks by detecting change in environment which is then corrected with the appropriate response, this is called negative feedback. Negative feedback is the mechanism that corrects the change in the body. • 17. Learning ( Pbl ) And Work Based Learning In our global economy, industry demands dynamic, adaptable and innovative workers to remain competitive. This presents a challenge to educational institutions on two fronts. Firstly to keep pace with this requirement and secondly to equip their learners with the required skills and knowledge that will enable them to either remain within this environment or to enter it. Two approaches to learning that benefit individuals and meet this challenge are Problem based learning (PBL) and work based learning (WBL). Both approaches are learner centred, motivating learners to become self directed. PBL originated in Canada in the late 1960 s underpinned by constructivist view. Developed for medical students it became a widely used tool for learning (EE and Tan 2009, Hmelo Silver, 2004). In her paper Hmelo Silver (2004) discusses the process of PBL, its methodology and the goals it can achieve for both the learner and the facilitator. But a significant criticism of PBL relates to the context in which it is delivered. As PBL is within a classroom environment it does not fully address other concepts required in adult learning situations such as political, social or historical influences (Foley, 2004). The early form of WBL is the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship, a word derived from the French verb apprendre , meaning to learn, can be traced back to ancient Egypt (Rorrison, 1988). This concept of teaching a craft has developed to meet the growing need for a highly skilled and

  • 20. The Most Precious Gems Of History Some of the most precious gems in history are often overlooked or set aside. If a person asked any student their thoughts on a World War, the student would most likely respond with a negative reprisal of Adolf Hitler. What many students glance over is World War I; they fail to realize that without World War I, there would be no World War II. World War I alone is a precious piece of history, but when plumbing into the history historical documents become abundant. In World War I, letters were the way soldiers communicated with friends and family members they were separated from. The two articles that will be analyzed are letters exchanged between coworkers at the Great Western Railway. The first primary source document analyzed was composed ... War during this time seemed to be more focused on close range battles in the trenches using rifles and shorter distance weapons, which is certainly different from today where there is wide use of long range missiles and bombs. Surveillance at that time was gathered by sending soldiers out to the enemy lines instead of a drone or satellite gathering information and sending it via modern technology back to the base. The second primary source document reviewed was also a letter. Gilbert Williams composed this letter in France during World War One. Mr. Williams was a private in the 1/6 Seaforth Highlanders division in the French army. This particular letter was a thank you letter for the gift of State Express cigarettes from a group of gentlemen at home. This document was also found in a web search on the United Kingdom National Archives. Unlike the first letter reviewed, this one was much shorter in length. While this letter from Mr. Williams didn t give insight into the living conditions or travel of soldiers, it did provide interesting details about the weather and the battle conditions. But the primary reason this letter stood out over other resources was the way the author describes his excitement over using his weapon in battle. In this letter, the soldier described the weather during this time as frigid and the land as snow covered. He points out that the snow makes it easy to spot the enemy making it hard to

Kurtz is so unusual because he is not presented in a normal way. The way Kurtz is presented to the narrator is through stories. So, throughout the whole beginning of the book the only thing the narrator knows about Kurtz is from the stories that people are telling about him. And the stories that are being told about Kurtz is that he is in charge of a trading post in Africa that sells ivory, and the narrator is also being told that Kurtz is a remarkable guy. An example from the text says, He is a very remarkable person. Further questions elicited from him that Mr. Kurtz was at present in charge of a trading post, a very important one, in the true ivory country, at the very bottom of there. Some examples of this is during the story is there was a carnival atmosphere of brutality in the room at such times, scaring weak and suspect people like me . The reason this is important to the text and idea of the essay is because we often feel left out when we are ourselves. In life, we want to fit in we are made to want this just like the main character in the story she wants a dress like my friend Lonnie had. A perfect illustration of family pressure is when the Mother of the friend of Lonnie exclaims, I doubt if she appreciates it. When we have home pressures some of us do things only to please the people around us an example of the protagonist doing this is when every morning, including the day of the dance, I woke up in perfect health. This is ample evidence because the narrator shows how she wants a reason to not go to the dance. Another image of family pressure is when the main character is pressured into having the protection of all female rituals. The reason this is important is because she is trying to hide behind beauty to not show her insecurity to the point where she looks like a Zulu with her hair curled. Further proof of family pressure is on page 12 when the mother says will I wish I could take a picture I am really, genuinely proud of that fit. And you might even say thank you for it. She is the wife of a New Orleans businessman. She is not content with her marriage and the lifestyle that she must conform to. She changes from her role as a devoted wife and mother to a woman who becomes engrossed in discovering her own identity. She then goes through a series of experiences to satisfy herself mentally, emotionally, and sexually. She changes from the woman of those times, who always stuck to conformity, to someone who worries and is only responsible for herself. It is Mademoiselle who influences her to become awakened in such a way. However this very awakening will be her downfall. She will then begin to isolate herself from those around her and eventually choose suicide as an escape. A main factor towards the development of Ednawould be Mademoiselle Reiz. Her influence plays a vital role towards her awakening and change to her life style. From the moment she heard Reiz play she had begun to be influenced. The very first chords Mademoiselle Reisz struck on the piano sent a keen tremor down Mrs. Pontellier s spinal column. It was not the first time she had heard an artist at the piano. Perhaps it was the first time she was ready, perhaps the first time her being was tempered to take an impress of the abiding truth. (Chopin 29) . It can be said that the change in Edna was sparked by this very moment. From here on Edna

The Gantt chart shows that we are using at most three trays in the filling activity at any given time (and in fact this is only because this particular plan calls for filling three trays in rapid succession, after which two of them sit waiting for an opportunity to get into the oven). There is never more than one tray in the oven at any given time, nor is there ever any more than one tray cooling. So we could certainly get by with five trays, and maybe four or even three if we adjust the mixing and filling part of the operation. On the other hand, trays are cheap, and it would be a shame if we ever had to keep the oven (the bottleneck) waiting for lack of a tray. It is reasonable to have plenty of trays on hand, whether that means five, or ten, or whatever. 6. Are there any changes you can make in your production plans that will allow you to make better cookies or more cookies in less time or at lower cost? For example, is there a bottleneck operation in your production process that you can expand cheaply? What is the effect of adding another oven? How much would you be willing to pay for an additional oven? The bottleneck is the oven, which means there is no point in looking at expanding the capacity of any other resource unless the operation s baking capacity is expanded first. If we had two ovens, we could make cookies faster. But how much faster? This gets complicated, but we can think about it by looking at the capacities

The standards Cawelti has set forth for a successful Western is quite minimal by thought, but at the same time relevant. Crane signifies a different perspective to these standards. However, when Scratchy realizes that Potter had gotten married, he put down his gun and walked away. He moved a pace backward, and his arm, with the revolver, dropped to his side ; (Crane 311). This contradicts the black and white situation Cawelti would expect. The fight between good and evil had risen and it must be taken care of through violence, perhaps a draw. This did not happen though, and that is why Crane s perspective towards a Western is quite far from the formula. Apparently, the moral and ethical code that Crane acknowledges in his stories is his main concern. The story can climax, and desire be sated, only if the moral applause meter reads way of the scale in the hero s favor ; (Tompkins 236). Crane describes Scratchy Wilson as a man when sober cannot hurt a fly, but while intoxicated will hurt anything. The black and white issue turns gray by giving the villain a heart. Throughout the entire story, the ideas of violence arise, but the actions upon them do not. This is a very bad path Crane chose if he was looking to depict a formula western. There is also evidence of shifts of emphasis, changes of direction, developments and reformations, which have led to a number of critiques of Foucault s work to talk about breaks, differences and discontinuities within his work. One moment least a shift of emphasis does appear to be present is in the writings which emerged after the Archaeology of Knowledge and after the brief cultural and political event known as May 68 in France. However, archaeology did not disappear from Foucault s analyses; it retained a secondary presence and continued to serve as a methodology for isolating and analysing local discursivities in a manner which was complementary to genealogy. In fact there are a number of links and continuities to be found in Foucault s respective articulations of archaeology and genealogy which undermine any conception of a categorical break or change of direction. In both the archaeological investigations and later in the genealogical analyses no special priority is accorded to science. If there is a change it is that the relatively detached view of scientific discourse as one form of existence arising from a discursive formation is displaced by a more committed position which questions and criticises the effects of power associated with the scientific hierarchisation of knowledges. Again in both archaeological and genealogical analysis a comparable conception of history is found in which dispersion, disparity, difference and division are conceived to lie behind the historical beginnings of things rather than a singular point or moment of origin. Finally, in the Archaeology of Knowledge, Foucault anticipates a very different kind of analysis of knowledge, one that would not be oriented towards the history of sciences but would take a different form. In mild or moderate cases patients could experience symptoms like increase in diarrhea, rectal pain, slight increase in bleeding and cramping, and tender spot in the abdomen (Jill Sklar, 2007). (Dictinary.com), so how has worldwide organizations like the U.N, The WHO, and the World Bank changed the shift of culture, from a country s or community s individual culture to a more globalized and unified culture? One of the many projects that the WHO are working on is to give immunizations to third world countries and improvised communities. One place that the WHO is operating in is India, India has the second largest population, but its healthcare per person is one of the lowest in the world. India only spends four percent of their total country s budget on health expenditure, this roughly equates to $215 U.S. dollars per person. The U.S. spends 17.1 percent of the total budget on health expenditures, which is near $9,146 per head in the U.S. This is one of the reasons the WHO chose to help the Indian people and government with immunizations, because the government can t afford to upgrade or pay for healthcare in the country. The impact of this aid though the form of immunizations has

The campaign should be built constructed on strong and understandable messages, so that the target population can take action and pass on the message from its memorable key components. An effective campaign then, will devise under the campaign logo what the problem needs to be changed, how the campaign will go about making this change, the consequences of not taking action, and the action to be taken to achieve the message of the proposed campaign (UN Women, 2012). From the race bikes, to the cameras, to something that seems so insignificant like the forks on a dirt bike, technologyhas affected every aspect of it. Advances in technology will simplify the aspect of racing for riders racing in supercross with progress in, air forks, dartfish video overlay, and Fuel Injections. Importantly,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For fuel injections the overall set up tends be on the higher priced side, and at times can weigh more than traditional technology. Everything aside this technology makes it less difficult to adjust the fuel to adapt to factors like, track conditions, or perhaps the rider s preferences. The program works by pumping fuel into an injector, which then sprays the fuel into the body of the throttle. Thus sending a signal to inject a calculated amount of fuel, after receiving information from various sensors. Technology of this type can be extremely beneficial for the average rider, with sensors to monitor things like crank position, throttle position, engine temperature, air temperature, and barometric pressure. Fuel injection (FI) has become the preferred way to deliver fuel on four stroke motocross and off road motorcycles. It provides superior throttle response, aids starting, allows the engine to run smoother and operate better when temperatures and altitude change, and even improves gas mileage (Gustafson 1). Now, instead of taking time to haltingly adjust settings to the best of a rider or mechanics abilities, there are fuel injectors to shorten the work time. Riders can hook up their ECM (Electronic Control Module), and the computer will do all of the work to adjust settings, monitor temperatures and positions, and above all set up the bike

This means that during the discussion, one more party have to be on board for the development and implementation of telemedicine systems that is the pharmacies that are affiliated to the medical facilities. Beauty can be judged on the clothes one puts on to wear, the makeup that is being used, the hairstyle that keeps up with the latest fashion and even the shape of one s body. In this generation, we are raised in an indestructible bubble of judgement. Beauty can also be seen as an ornament. People cover their Christmas trees with ornaments to make it more appealing to the eye, the same goes with human beings. Specifically females try to present themselves in ways society tells them is right. However, underneath all of the ribbons and ornaments is a simple tree with great personality. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This statement is used vigorously throughout society and is seen as an empowering statement with women. However, it should be rewritten as, beauty is in the eye of society. Society tells people how to live their life and how to present themselves in a proper way. Nevertheless, millions of human beings are getting plastic surgery to change their outermost appearance. Starting from a nose job to botox all over the face, individuals spend so much time and money to make themselves look unrecognizable With this being said, plastic surgery is not a bad commodity, as it is all a personal choice to an individual. It enhances one s features and makes a person feel better than their best self but in reality the only element that matters is the inner beauty. Growing up in this generation, they are influenced by every person in a magazine. Society altogether, must look past the pictures in Vogue or Cosmopolitan and look deeper in the beauty that is within us all. Children nowadays are growing up and are expected to look like America s Next Top Model and they are not focusing in school, because they are too busy looking at what their friends are wearing and their outermost appearance. Mind is greater than looks, so if students did not focus on what society would think of them, they would most likely score higher on tests. Inner beauty is more important than physical beauty, because it is a representation of a person s true self. Judging a book by its cover can often be

An astronomer is a scientist who tries to understand the wonders of the Universe as well the wonders beyond our universe. Astronomers also study the stars, planets, and other galaxies ( Careers in Astronomy | IAU ). I chose a career in astronomy because I have always been fascinated by space and how the universe works. It is extremely important to understand education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, the salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making the decision. The job location for astronomers depends greatly on if the astronomer in question works for a private industry, the government, a college, or a government supported institution. Almost one third of astronomers work for the government or government supported institutions. The remainder of astronomers work either in a private industry on some type of space related projects, in science centers, at planetariums, or in some other type of educational and public outreach efforts (Strobel). Although astronomers spend a lot of time away from home and their families, they mostly work in an office like environment. Astronomers work full time, but since they are more than likely observing something in space, they might have to work during the night so the sun does not interfere with their observations ( Occupational Outlook Handbook Physicists and Astronomers ).
