Discipline is another important factor in
learning. Discipline is training the learners
to act in such a manner that will create
classroom conditions conducive to the
attainment of
instructional objectives.

DISCIPLINE & GUIDANCE
Approaches to Discipline
1. Training approach – also referred to as training model.
It calls for a frequent repetition of good acts until they
become habits.
Approaches to Discipline
2. Behavior modification approach – called as the
behavior modification model. Good behavior is
reinforced and misbehavior discouraged.
Guidance and counseling is helping the individual
to make a wise choice from among the many alternatives
that are open to him in meeting
life’s conflicting situations.

 To become independent and self-directed;
 To gain emotional maturity and stability;
 To recognize his importance to society, his contributions
to its stability and progress, and his readiness and
willingness to adjust himself to the standards of society;

 To be an organizer, initiator, and creator of situations that
will redound to the benefit not only of himself but of
society as well; and
 To gain knowledge of himself: his own intellectual and
physical capacities, his interests, his social and inborn
traits, and the requirements and possibilities of certain
actions, all to help choose the right alternatives when
confronted with conflicting situations.

One of the most important decisions
that an individual shall make will determine largely his
choice
of a vocation or profession. Guidance and counseling
plays an indispensable role in helping the individual
choose
just the right vocation or profession
for himself.

Discipline and Guidance

  • 1. Discipline is another important factor in learning. Discipline is training the learners to act in such a manner that will create classroom conditions conducive to the attainment of instructional objectives. Chapter 7 DISCIPLINE & GUIDANCE
  • 2. Approaches to Discipline 1. Training approach – also referred to as training model. It calls for a frequent repetition of good acts until they become habits.
  • 3. Approaches to Discipline 2. Behavior modification approach – called as the behavior modification model. Good behavior is reinforced and misbehavior discouraged.
  • 4. Guidance and counseling is helping the individual to make a wise choice from among the many alternatives that are open to him in meeting life’s conflicting situations. Guidance and Counseling
  • 5. Objectives of Guidance and Counseling  To become independent and self-directed;  To gain emotional maturity and stability;  To recognize his importance to society, his contributions to its stability and progress, and his readiness and willingness to adjust himself to the standards of society;
  • 6. Objectives of Guidance and Counseling  To be an organizer, initiator, and creator of situations that will redound to the benefit not only of himself but of society as well; and  To gain knowledge of himself: his own intellectual and physical capacities, his interests, his social and inborn traits, and the requirements and possibilities of certain actions, all to help choose the right alternatives when confronted with conflicting situations.
  • 7. Choosing a Vocation or Profession One of the most important decisions that an individual shall make will determine largely his choice of a vocation or profession. Guidance and counseling plays an indispensable role in helping the individual choose just the right vocation or profession for himself.
