This document provides information about digital citizenship and netiquette. It discusses how communication has increasingly moved online, where things can easily be misunderstood or taken out of context. Some key points covered include: - Being thoughtful with what you post, as anything shared online can spread quickly and is hard to retract. - Citing sources and giving credit to others to avoid plagiarism or manipulation of your content. - Avoiding rudeness or yelling (in all caps), and thinking before posting in case of misunderstandings. - Using email and social media professionally by checking for errors and using an appropriate tone.

7.  Keep replies/ threads on topic
 Give credit where credit is due
 DO NOT TYPE IN A CAPTIAL LETTERS!
◦ It means you are angry or yelling

8.  Think before you post or reply
◦ Just because you don’t agree doesn’t mean have to
be rude
◦ Your sarcasm may not be understood
◦ People can get mean fast, even if you don’t mean to
be rude
◦ It is really hard to take it back once you hit
send/post

9.  Be short and to the point
◦ Nobody wants to read a rambling e-mail
 Check your spelling and grammar
 Text speak is not appropriate for your work

10.  Answer your e-mail in a reasonable amount
of time
◦ Typically within 24 hours
◦ Use your “Out of Office” message
 Sign your e-mail
◦ Sometime your address is not enough
 E-mail or phone call?

11.  Think before you hit send, that e-mail can’t
be taken back
◦ Did you say what you meant to?
◦ Are you sending it to who you mean to?
