The update to NIST Special Publication 800-63 Revision 3 covers guidelines on digital identity management, identity proofing and authentication of users working with government IT systems over open networks – and serves as de facto guidance far beyond government and into many industries that are depending on secure user authentication.
Part of the guidelines recommend higher-assurance authentication, including the use of multi-factor authentication with public key cryptography, where private keys are tightly bound to the device. This, of course, is the core of the FIDO approach which has been implemented in over 300 FIDO certified products worldwide that are powering authentication solutions from top service providers such as Google, Facebook, Aetna and more.
In this presentation, experts review the NIST guidelines and their relationship to FIDO Authentication.

Apache Milagro Presentation at ApacheCon Europe 2016Brian Spector
Apache Milagro (incubating) establishes a new internet security framework purpose-built for cloud-connected app-centric software and IoT devices that require Internet scale. Milagro's purpose is to provide a secure, free, and positive open source alternative to centralised and proprietary monolithic trust providers such as commercial certificate authorities and the certificate backed cryptosystems that rely on them.
Milagro is an open source, pairing-based cryptographic platform that delivers solutions for device and end user authentication, secure communications and fintech / blockchain security; issues challenging Cloud Providers and their customers. It does this without the need for certificate authorities, putting into place a new category of service providers called Distributed Trust Authorities (D-TA®).
Milagro's M-Pin® protocol, and its existing open-source MIRACL® implementation on which MILAGRO is built, is already in use by Experian, NTT, Ingram Micro, and Gov.UK and rolled out to perform at Internet scale for Zero Password® multi-factor authentication and certificate-less HTTPS / secure channel.
Smart OpenID brings strong authentication for internet cloud service access to mobile devices by leveraging the crypto capabiliteis provided by smart cards and secure elements in mobile phones.
Presentation held at Chip-To-Cloud Forum in Nice, September 2012
The Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and the associated Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) on strong customer authentication and secure communication impose stringent requirements on multi-factor authentication and on the security of implementations. Payment Service Providers will want to know whether the authentication solutions they put in place conform to the RTS both in terms of functionality and security.
The FIDO Alliance standards are based on multi-factor authentication and are a strong fit for PSD2 compliance. The FIDO Alliance’s certification program provides an independent evaluation of functional compliance to the standards as well as of the achieved level of security of FIDO authenticators.
Featuring industry experts, this presentation explores how FIDO can resolve key issues, including:
• How the FIDO standards conform to the RTS
• How FIDO’s certification program guarantees this conformity
• How FIDO’s certification program provides for the mandatory security evaluation imposed by the RTS

Automobile Management System Project Report.pdfKamal Acharya
The proposed project is developed to manage the automobile in the automobile dealer company. The main module in this project is login, automobile management, customer management, sales, complaints and reports. The first module is the login. The automobile showroom owner should login to the project for usage. The username and password are verified and if it is correct, next form opens. If the username and password are not correct, it shows the error message.
When a customer search for a automobile, if the automobile is available, they will be taken to a page that shows the details of the automobile including automobile name, automobile ID, quantity, price etc. “Automobile Management System” is useful for maintaining automobiles, customers effectively and hence helps for establishing good relation between customer and automobile organization. It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.

Agenda
3. ● Authentication is often described as the process of
“verifying that a user is who he claims to be”.
Introduction
4. ● Any password-based authentication system needs to
store passwords somewhere in order to validate them
against a user’s input.
The 60s: password
5. ● Used a cryptographic concept called a hash function
to store passwords.
The 70s: Password Hashing
6. ● Public-key or Asymmetric Cryptography involves two
keys:
○ Public key that you can safely share with the world
to help identify yourself
○ Private key you use to sign things, thus verifying
your identity.
Mid-70s: Public-key cryptography
8. ● A one-time password (OTP) is a password that is valid
for only one login session or transaction, on a
computer system or other digital device.
The 80s: One-time passwords
9. ● A set of technologies and standards that manage the
creation, storage, and distribution of keys or digital
certificates.
The 90s: Public-Key Infrastructure
10. Mid-90s detour: CAPTCHAs
● A CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test
to tell Computers and Humans Apart) is a type of
challenge–response test used in computing to determine
whether or not the user is human.
● We can used CAPTCHAs to prevent some automated
authentication attacks.
11. ● Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an authentication
method that requires the user to provide two or more
verification factors to gain access to a resource.
The 2000s: Multi-factor authentication
12. ● The ubiquitous nature of smartphones brought two
previously less-attainable authentication technologies to
the masses: biometrics and 2FA.
The 2010s: The smartphone era
14. ● FIDO2 (Fast Identity Online) uses public-key cryptography
to provide strong passwordless authentication to end-users.
● FIDO2 is the name given to the combination of two
specifications.
○ WebAuthn (Web Authentication)
○ CTAP (Client to Authenticator Protocol)
FIDO2 Authentication
