2. Initial Idea
The idea behind this logo is to use a skull
because it is a general convention and theme in
the horror genre. It often conveys themes of
death and mortality and therefore it should be
ideal for a horror production logo.
3. We began using a popular font selector on the
internet, dafont.com, which allowed us to select
from a wide variety of fonts that could appeal to
us. The site was easy to navigate around and by
using it we found the perfect font for this logo –
Black Asylum. We then downloaded this and
used it on Photoshop CS5.1.
Making the Logo
4. After creating the titles for our image, we had to
find skulls that fit with the text. We did this by
using Tumblr.com, a social media site that
provides images, gifs and statuses people have
tagged when you use the search option. By
doing this we found two skulls that fit perfectly
and used the same art style, we then messaged
the owners of the artwork for their permission
to use them.
5. After downloading the images, we
put them into our Photoshop
project. We were then given the
option to change the size of the
image so that it wasn't too large or
too small compared to the text.
We then copied the image and
flipped it to create a
symmetrical/mirrored effect.
6. The Final stage to this logo was to add the last
picture of a skull to the project. Again we had to
change the scale of the image to make it fit with
rest of the logo. We made this skull slightly large
as it was meant to go in the middle of the other
two and in the foreground. We also had to move
the layer for it so that it was in front of the
others.
