Deuteromycota- Imperfect FungiCj Balicanta` Jeremy Magdaong` Geo Robeniol`Celina Alejandro`Gianne Pagulayan` Mara Tan
Why are they called ‘imperfect’?
Mycologists never observed the sexual reproduction of fungi in the imperfect fungi group.It is said that these fungi may have lost their sexual phase through the course of evolution Because...Basically because of the fact that the sexual reproduction of these fungi are not observe so scientists decided to classify it to other group referred as the Imperfect Fungi
 Fungi which cannot be classified as zygomycetes (zygote fungi), ascomycetes (sac fungi) nor basidiomycetes (club fungi)Deuteromycota (Imperfect Fungi)Examples of BasidiomycetesExample of AscomycetesExample of Zygomycetes
What Are These Fungi? They are heterogenous group of unrelated speciesThey Reproduce asexually by producing conidia on hyphae called conidiophores Conidia -asexual, non-motile spores of a fungus
If they are imperfect, then why are they considered as Fungi?
Because.... Their multicellular tissues are similar to hyphae of sac and club fungiThey have erect hyphae with asexual spores, called conidia, which are similar to those of the sac fungi and club fungiBasically because of their common characteristics to the other types of fungi
Examples of Imperfect FungiAspergillus niger
causes black mold; common food contaminant
