Determination of the yarn count by warp reel & analytical balance. This presentation making how to calculate yarn count by wrap reel and analytical balance. This presentation is very help any textile engineering student.
Yarn count: The yarn count is a numerical expression which defines its fineness or coarseness. It also expresses weather the yarn is thick or thin. A definition is given by the textile institute – “Count is a number which indicates the mass per unit length or the length per unit mass of yarn.”
Warp knitting is a family of knitting methods in which the yarn zigzags along the length of the fabric, i.e., following adjacent columns ("wales") of knitting, rather than a single row ("course"). For comparison, knitting across the width of the fabric is called weft knitting.Warp knitting machines--needles are mounted collectively and rigidly in a horizontal metal bar (the needle bar that runs the full knitting width of the machine).
INTRODUCTION
The ring spinning will continue to be the most widely used form of spinning machine in the near future, because it exhibits significant advantages in comparison with the new spinning processes.
Following are the advantages of ring spinning frame
• It is universally applicable, i.e. any material can be spun to any required count
• It delivers a material with optimum characteristics, especially with regard to structure and strength.
• It is simple and easy to master
• The know-how is well established and accessible for everyone

Testing yarns is essentials. The basic tests that are essential are explained in this video. The yarn number systems the different tests for yarn like strength, length, elongation are discussed here.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

4. The yarn count is a numerical expression which defines its
fineness or coarseness. It also expresses weather the yarn is thick
or thin. A definition is given by the textile institute – “Count is a
number which indicates the mass per unit length or the length per
unit mass of yarn.”
5. Length in yard × Weight Unit
Cotton Count = ..................................................
840 Yard × Weight in pound
6. In this system the count is the number of units of length per unit of weight
of yarn. In this case higher the count, finer is the yarn. This system is
generally used for cotton, woolen, worsted linnet.
Formula
𝑁=(𝐿*𝑈𝑊)/(W*LU)
Let
N = the yarn Count or Number
W = the weight of the sample
𝑊𝑈 = the unit weight of the system
L = Length of the sample
𝐿𝑈 = The unit length of the system
7. In this system the count of the yarn is the number of units of weights per
unit length of yarn. This system is used for jute silk and synthetic etc.
Formula 𝑁=(𝐿𝑈*𝑊)/(L*WU)
Let
N = the yarn Count or Number
W = the weight of the sample
𝑊𝑈 = the unit weight of the system
L = Length of the sample
𝐿𝑈 = The unit length of the system
8. • To know about yarn count .
• To know about wrap reel & analytical balance.
• To know how to determine the count by wrap reel &
analytical balance
• To Know measurement of count
• To know the different count conversion formula.
• To know the application of count.
9. A wrap reel or skein winder is a device for
measuring yarn and making it into hanks of a
standard size.. The reel is of a standard size
and its revolutions are counted as the yarn is
wrapped around it. Typically, a set number of
revolutions will be used so that the hank is of
a standard size — a skein or lea. For example,
a skein of cotton would be 80 turns on a reel
of 54 inches circumference, making 120
yards, while the standard length for wool
worsted would be 80 yards.
10. The tension of the yarn as it was wound onto the reel was important
because it would be elastic and so a standard tension was required to
ensure uniformity. For a given reel, this would be determined by the
friction of the setup and so the test hanks would be made and
measured in other ways to calibrate the device.
Wrap reel are two types on the basis of driving method :
Hand Drive
Power Drive
11.
12. An analytical balance (often called a "lab
balance") is a class of balance designed to
measure small mass in the sub-milligram
range. The measuring pan of an analytical
balance (0.1 mg or better) is inside a
transparent enclosure with doors so that dust
does not collect and so any air currents in the
room do not affect the balance's operation.
13. This enclosure is often called a draft shield. The use of a
mechanically vented balance safety enclosure, which has uniquely
designed acrylic airfoils, allows a smooth turbulence-free airflow
that prevents balance fluctuation and the measure of mass down to
without fluctuations or loss of product. Also, the sample must be at
room temperature.
14. • At first warp reel was adjusted accordingly and yarn was
passed from the cone through the guides.
• The length of the sample was measured by the warp reel
counter.
• In case of cotton the circumference of warp reel is 1yds and
required yarn is 120yds again in case of jute warp reel
circumference is 2.5yds and required yarn is 300yds.
15. • In the case of cotton warp reel is drive by motor and jute warp reel is
manually operated. In the case of cotton yarn stop automatically when
the specified amount of yarn is wound on its.
• The sample is weighted by balance.
• The operation is repeated 12to 16 times and taking their means count
is calculated direct system.
16. • To maintain proper tension of yarn when yarn are wind on wrap
reel.
• Weight are taken very carefully.
• Yarn to dry very carefully.
• Calculate the count very carefully.
17. It is the very easy process but there need more time than another
process. In the conclusion it can be said that by this assignment we
know many thing about the count our honorable teacher was very
helpful to know about necessary of yarn count.
