Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.

2. What is warping ? 02
• In textile sector, weaving is the first
process of fabric manufacturing. Here,
warping is defined as the parallel winding
of warp yarn or warp ends from cone,
cheese winding package on to a warp
beam. According to required quality of
fabric, warping should be done by using
required quality of yarn packages.
Otherwise, fabric quality will be
hampered.
3. Requirement of warping 03
The individual ends of the sheet should be spaced uniformly across
its full width.
All the ends in the sheet should be wound at almost uniform tension.
The density of wound yarn beam should be uniform across the width
and from start to end of winding the sheet.
The yarn breakage during warping should be as minimum as possible.
4. Requirement of warping 04
Density of the beam should be controlled not by increase yarn
tension but by adjusting the pressure roller on the beam in case of
spindle driven beam.
The production rate of warping should be as high as possible.
A predetermined warping length should be observed.

yarn packages. The creel capacity is about 600-800 in direct
warping.
• Expanding comb: Yarn pass through the expanding comb.
• Pressure Roller : It presses the warp beam with the surface contact
of driving drum.
• Beam: Beam is the machine parts where warp is wounded.

yarn guide, stop motion device and then
through expanded comb of beaming unit.

To produce stripe effect warp patterning is used. For creating stripe
effect, different types of colored yarn is needed. Warp patterning is not
possible in direct warping. For producing stripe effect sectional warping
must be needed.
That’s why direct warping is not suitable to produced stripe effect.

The no. of cone available in a packet is 24 & total weight of the packet is
100 lbs. Creel capacity 580, length variation is 5%. Find out the length of
yarn per warp beam.
Solution:
We know,
Total no. Of ends = EPI x fabric width
= 100 x 116
= 11600
18. A typical calculation for direct warping: 18
No. of warp beam = total no of ends /creel capacity
= 11600/580
= 20
Now 1 cone weight = total weight of the packet/ no. of cone in a packet
=100/24
= 4.16 lbs.
Now 1 cone length = warp count x cone wt. In lbs x 840
=40 x 4.16 x 840 yds.
= 40 x 4.16 x 840/1.0936 m
= 127812.73 m

• length variation = 127812.73 m x 5%
= 6390.64 m
so, yarn length in 1 cone = calculated length – length variation
=127812.73 m – 6390.64 m
= 121422.90 m
• Length of yarn per warp beam = total length in 1 cone/no of warp

= 121422.90/20
= 6071 m

• Cause:
• The broken end of yarn is not tied to the end on the warp beam & overlaps the adjoining yarn.
The beam is not properly brake & the signal hook fails to operate.
• Remedies:
• Tying the broken end to the end on the warp beam.
• Proper signal hook.
• 2. Piecing
• Cause:
• One broken end is pieced to another yarn end on the warping beam.
• Remedies:
• By proper joining.

3.Soft ends on the warping beam
• Cause:
• Breakage of a group of ends & piecing them in bundle or by lapping. This defect is caused by
the careless of the operator.
• Remedies:
• Careful operation.
• Broken end should be piece up properly.
4.Broken ends on the beam
• Cause:
• A group of ends is broken & tied as a brunch or worked-in with overlapping.
• Remedies:
• Broken ends should be removed.
23. How to improve beam warping process? 23
Beam warping process is the most progressive
process ensuring a high quality of produced
warps & high efficiency. In cotton weaving,
beam warping is mostly used.
Better uniformity in the tension of individual
yarns are the provision of adjusting the tension
of separate groups of warp yarns over the
height of the warping creel.
Enlarging the mass of bobbins & warping
beam winding.
24. How to improve beam warping process? 24
Increased number of bobbins when warping yarn of low linear density &
a greater number of yarns in the warp.
Improved shape of winding on the warping beams & uniformity of
the specific density of winding.
Higher accuracy in warp measuring & reduction of wastes caused
by irregular unwinding of warps from the beams at sizing.
Compensation of warp tension at starting & stopping of the machine &
slow running at starting a new warping beam.
