This document describes the design of a remote post-type mouse trap that uses infrared sensors, a power grid, and GSM communication. The trap consists of alternating conducting bars connected to a power source. An infrared sensor module with a Fresnel lens detects mice and activates the power grid only in the detection area. A GSM module sends a message when a mouse is caught. The design was tested over a week and successfully caught two mice. It aims to provide a low-power, reliable way to catch mice remotely without using bait.
Wireless Sensor Network for Radiation Detectionijeei-iaes
n this paper a wireless sensor network (WSN) is designed from a group of radiation detector stations with different types of sensors. These stations are located in different areas and each sensor transmits its data through GSM network to the main monitoring and control station. The design includes GPS module to determine the location of mobile and fixed station. The data is transmitted with GSM/GPRS modem. Instead of using traditional SMS data string or word messages a digital data frame is constructed and transmitted as SMS data. In the main monitoring station graphical user interface (GUI) software is designed to shows information and statues of the all stations in the network. It reports any radiation leaks, in addition to the data; the GUI contains a geographical map to display the location of the leakage station and can control the stations power consumption by sending a special command to it.

The internet of things (IoT) has a significant impact on increasing the efficiency and quality of electricity in large power systems. Smart voltage and current monitoring systems (SVCMS) have been developed using a novel method. Using an Arduino Uno microcontroller and a Wi-Fi module, the integrated SVCMS design measures voltage and current sensor findings and sends the processed data to an Android phone. In order to communicate, the global systems for mobile communication (GSM) module is required. When anything goes wrong, an Android app may be used to notify users by text message or email and help them take the right action. It is possible to remotely monitor and control the operation of a gadget using logical programming techniques in Arduino which results easy load control.

Development and Application of a Failure Monitoring System by Using the Vibra...inventy
In this project, a failure monitoring system is developed by using the vibration and location information of balises in railway signaling. A lot of field equipment in railway are loosening and broken in time period so that they need maintenance due to the vibrations that occur due to high speed trains traffic and railway vehicles impact. Among the field equipment, balises have very important role of communication in terms of transmitting information to trains. In this scope, it is aimed to make maintenance works more efficient, have no delayed trains, detect previously failure location and intervene in failure timely, by detecting and controlling balise cases such as loosening, out of place and the data consistency error that happens because of balise physical state. In this project, the communication is provided with I2C, Modbus RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) and RS485 standards by using Arduino Uno cards and MPU6050 IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensors in laboratory. Each used sensors are in slave mode and computer interface designed with C# is in master mode. Fault situations in the system are checked instant by the interface. (it is assumed to mount the IMU sensor and the Arduino circuit on the balise) it is seen that the interface responds to the sensor movements instant and the system works well in the end of test processes.
Security System Based on Ultrasonic Sensor TechnologyIOSR Journals
Abstract : In this paper we design and implement a security system with an ultrasonic sensor module to enhance the system’s reliability. The ultrasonic sensor contains a transmitter and a receiver and the module is placed in a rotating motor. It is assumed that an ultrasonic sensor is set in a rotating motor to cover a wide range. The Ultrasonic transmitter periodically emits ultrasonic signals into an open area. A rotating motor is used to allow the sensor to cover whole 360 degrees. If the signal ever hits any physical objects, it will be reflected back and the receiver part of the sensor will then capture it. The microcontroller unit (MCU) will constantly check for the receiver output of the ultrasonic transmitter. If the receiver output is high, the MCU will perform distance analysis of the object from the sensor using the fact that ultrasonic waves travel in air at 340m/s. The time taken for the waves to hit the object and return can be calculated as the time taken for the receiver output to be high after the transmitter has been initiated to send ultrasonic waves. Once the distance is calculated, MCU checks whether the object is within the range threshold specified within the MCU for initiating the alert. If the object is within the range threshold, the MCU initiates a sound alarm and also the global system for mobile communications (GSM) modem to send short message service (SMS) or call to the concerned person. Application of Zigbee in Smart Home with Dynamic Routing AlgorithmNooria Sukmaningtyas
In order to avoid damaging the walls and bore a hole through the walls, also to save the cost of
rewiring, low voltage power line can be used to implement the smart home. However, several difficult
problem must be solved at the same time , the most important are finding a technology method to
suppress the noise interference and resist the weaker signal. The smart home system is introduced in the
paper. During the design of Smart Home System adopting power line signal carrier, a dynamic routine
algorithm based on the idea of Genetic Algorithm is proposed to cope with the time-varying and random
feature of power line channel. Thus the system can find the transmission path in real time and dispatch the
signal carrier to transmit among the nodes. With this algorithm, the communication between a certain
group-controller and its terminal nodes or between the main-controller and the group-controllers is realized
successfully. In the proposed algorithm all nodes but the controller adopt same driver, therefore the plug
and play is realized for all nodes.
GSM Based Device Controlling and Fault DetectionIJCERT
The mobile communication has expanded to a great extent such that it can be applied for controlling of electrical devices. These projects make use of this capability of mobile phone to control three electrical devices with some use of embedded technology which can be extended up to eight devices. Apart from controlling it also does the sensing of the devices. Thus a user can be able to know of the status of the devices and in addition to that the user get notified if any fault is detected. Here in the project controlling and sensing is done for three electrical devices only. According to the user need both of this can be expanded.
A New Design of a CPW-Fed Dual-Band Monopole Antenna for RFID Readers IJECEIAES
This paper comes with a new dual-band planar monopole antenna fed by Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) line designed for RFID readers and it operates at 2.45 GHz, 5.80 GHz. This antenna is designed with reasonable gain, low profile and low cost production. The designed antenna based on theoretical equations is simulated and validated by using ADS from Agilent technologies and CST Microwave Studio electromagnetic solvers. A parametric study of the proposed antenna has been carried out by optimizing some critical parameters. The antenna has a total area of 35×38 mm2 and mounted on an FR4 substrate with dielectric permittivity constant 4.4 and thickness of 1.6 mm and loss tangent 0.025. The comparison between simulation and measurement results permits to validate the final achieved antenna structure in the desired RFID frequencies bands. Details of the proposed antenna design and both simulated and experimental results are described and discussed.
An Heterogeneous Population-Based Genetic Algorithm for Data Clusteringijeei-iaes
As a primary data mining method for knowledge discovery, clustering is a technique of classifying a dataset into groups of similar objects. The most popular method for data clustering K-means suffers from the drawbacks of requiring the number of clusters and their initial centers, which should be provided by the user. In the literature, several methods have proposed in a form of k-means variants, genetic algorithms, or combinations between them for calculating the number of clusters and finding proper clusters centers. However, none of these solutions has provided satisfactory results and determining the number of clusters and the initial centers are still the main challenge in clustering processes. In this paper we present an approach to automatically generate such parameters to achieve optimal clusters using a modified genetic algorithm operating on varied individual structures and using a new crossover operator. Experimental results show that our modified genetic algorithm is a better efficient alternative to the existing approaches.
Development of a Wireless Sensors Network for Greenhouse Monitoring and Controlijeei-iaes
Wireless sensor networks (WSN) could be used to monitor and control many parameters of environment such as temperature, humidity, and radiation leakage. In greenhouse the weather and soil should be independent of the natural agents. To achieve this condition a wireless sensor nodes could be deployed and communicate with a central base station to measure and transmit the sensed required environment factors. In this paper a WSN was implemented by deployed wireless sensor nodes in a greenhouse with temperature, humidity, moisture light, and CO2 sensors. The proposed model was built and tested, and the result shows an excellent improvement in the sensed parameters. To control the environmental factors, the used microcontroller programmed to control the parameters according to preset values, or manually through a user interface panel.

Investigation of TTMC-SVPWM Strategies for Diode Clamped and Cascaded H-bridg...ijeei-iaes
This paper presents a concept of two types multilevel inverters such as diode clamped and cascaded H-bridge for harmonic reduction on high power applications. Normally, multilevel inverters can be used to reduce the harmonic problems in electrical distribution systems. This paer focused on the performance and analysis of a three phase seven level inverter including diode clamped and cascaded H-bridge based on new tripizodal triangular space vector PWM technique approaches. TTMC based modified Space vector Pulse width modulation technique so called tripizodal triangular Space vector Pulse width modulation (TTMC-SVPWM) technique. In this paper the reference sine wave generated as in case of conventional off set injected SVPWM technique. It is observed that the TTMC-Space vector pulse width modulation ensures excellent, close to optimized pulse distribution results and THD is compared to seven level, diode clamped and cascaded multi level inverters. Theoretical investigations were confirmed by the digital simulations using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
Optimal Power Flow with Reactive Power Compensation for Cost And Loss Minimiz...ijeei-iaes
One of the concerns of power system planners is the problem of optimum cost of generation as well as loss minimization on the grid system. This issue can be addressed in a number of ways; one of such ways is the use of reactive power support (shunt capacitor compensation). This paper used the method of shunt capacitor placement for cost and transmission loss minimization on Nigerian power grid system which is a 24-bus, 330kV network interconnecting four thermal generating stations (Sapele, Delta, Afam and Egbin) and three hydro stations to various load points. Simulation in MATLAB was performed on the Nigerian 330kV transmission grid system. The technique employed was based on the optimal power flow formulations using Newton-Raphson iterative method for the load flow analysis of the grid system. The results show that when shunt capacitor was employed as the inequality constraints on the power system, there is a reduction in the total cost of generation accompanied with reduction in the total system losses with a significant improvement in the system voltage profile

To overcome this problem we are using a modern Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System controller i.e. distributed power flow controller (DPFC). This controller is similar to UPFC, which can be installed in a transmission line between the two electrical areas. In DPFC, instead of the common Dc link capacitor three single phase converters are used. In this paper we are concentrating on system stability (oscillation damping). For analyzing the stability of a single machine infinite bus system (SMIB) we have used PI controlled Distributed Power Flow Controller (DPFC) and Fuzzy controlled DPFC. All these models are simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Simulation results shows Fuzzy controlled DPFC are better than PI controlled DPFC. The significance of the results are better stability and constant power supply.
Embellished Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for Solving Reactive Power ...ijeei-iaes
This paper proposes Embellished Particle Swarm Optimization (EPSO) algorithm for solving reactive power problem .The main concept of Embellished Particle Swarm Optimization is to extend the single population PSO to the interacting multi-swarm model. Through this multi-swarm cooperative approach, diversity in the whole swarm community can be upheld. Concurrently, the swarm-to-swarm mechanism drastically speeds up the swarm community to converge to the global near optimum. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, it has been tested in standard IEEE 57,118 bus systems and results show that Embellished Particle Swarm Optimization (EPSO) is more efficient in reducing the Real power losses when compared to other standard reported algorithms.
Intelligent Management on the Home Consumers with Zero Energy Consumptionijeei-iaes
The energy and environment crisis has forced modern humans to think about new and clean energy sources and in particular, renewable energy sources. With the development of home network, the residents have the opportunity to plan the home electricity usage with the goal of reducing the cost of electricity. In this regard, to improve the energy consumption efficiency in residential buildings, smart buildings with zero energy consumption were considered as a proper option. Zero-energy building is a building that has smart equipment whose integral of generated and consumed power within a year is zero. In this article, smart devices submit their power consumption with regard to the requested activity associated with the user’s time setting for run times and end times of the work to the energy management unit and ultimately the time to start work will be determined. The problem’s target function is reducing the energy cost for the consumer with taking into account the applicable limitations.

Big data analytics allows a vast amount of structured and unstructured data to be effectively processed so that correlations, hidden patterns, and other useful information can be mined from the data. Several open source big data analytic tools that can perform tasks such as dimensionality reduction, feature extraction, transformation, optimization, are now available. One interesting area where such tools can provide effective solutions is transportation. Big data analytics can be used to efficiently manage transport infrastructure assets such as roads, airports, bus stations or ports. In this paper an overview of two open source big data analytic tools is first provided followed by a simple demonstration of application of these tools on transport dataset.
A Pattern Classification Based approach for Blur Classificationijeei-iaes
Blur type identification is one of the most crucial step of image restoration. In case of blind restoration of such images, it is generally assumed that the blur type is known prior to restoration of such images. However, it is not practical in real applications. So, blur type identification is extremely desirable before application of blind restoration technique to restore a blurred image. An approach to categorize blur in three classes namely motion, defocus, and combined blur is presented in this paper. Curvelet transform based energy features are utilized as features of blur patterns and a neural network is designed for classification. The simulation results show preciseness of proposed approach.

Fuzzy Control of a Large Crane Structureijeei-iaes
The usage of tower cranes, one type of rotary cranes, is common in many industrial structures, e.g., shipyards, factories, etc. With the size of these cranes becoming larger and the motion expected to be faster and has no prescribed path, their manual operation becomes difficult and hence, automatic closed-loop control schemes are very important in the operation of rotary crane. In this paper, the plant of concern is a tower crane consists of a rotatable jib that carries a trolley which is capable of traveling over the length of the jib. There is a pendulum-like end line attached to the trolley through a cable of variable length. A fuzzy logic controller with various types of membership functions is implemented for controlling the position of the trolley and damping the load oscillations. It consists of two main types of controllers radial and rotational each of two fuzzy inference engines (FIEs). The radial controller is used to control the trolley position and the rotational is used for damping the load oscillations. Computer simulations are used to verify the performance of the controller. The results from the simulations show the effectiveness of the method in the control of tower crane keeping load swings small at the end of motion.
Site Diversity Technique Application on Rain Attenuation for Lagosijeei-iaes
This paper studied the impact of site diversity (SD) as a fade mitigation technique on rain attenuation at 12 GHz for Lagos. SD is one of the most effective methods to overcome such large fades due to rain attenuation that takes advantage of the usually localized nature of intense rainfall by receiving the satellite downlink signal at two or more earth stations to minimize the prospect of potential diversity stations being simultaneously subjected to significant rain attenuation. One year (January to December 2011) hourly rain gauge data was sourced from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) for three sites (Ikeja, Ikorodu and Marina) in Lagos, Nigeria. Significant improvement in both performance and availability was observed with the application of SD technique; again, separation distance was seen to be responsible for this observed performance improvements.
Impact of Next Generation Cognitive Radio Network on the Wireless Green Eco s...ijeei-iaes
Land mobile communication is burdened with typical propagation constraints due to the channel characteristics in radio systems. Also, the propagation characteristics vary form place to place and also as the mobile unit moves, from time to time.Hence, the tramsmission path between transmitter and receiver varies from simple direct LOS to the one which is severely obstructed by buildings, foliage and terrain. Multipath propagation and shadow fading effects affect the signal strength of an arbitrary Transmitter-Receiver due to the rapid fluctuations in the phase and amplitude of signal which also determines the average power over an area of tens or hundreds of meters. Shadowing introduces additional fluctuations, so the received local mean power varies around the area –mean. The present paper deals with the performance analysis of impact of next generation wireless cognitive radio network on wireless green eco system through signal and interference level based k coverage probability under the shadow fading effects.

Internet and E-commerce are the generators of abundant of data, causing information Overloading. The problem of information overloading is addressed by Recommendation Systems (RS). RS can provide suggestions about a new product, movie or music etc. This paper is about Music Recommendation System, which will recommend songs to users based on their past history i.e. taste. In this paper we proposed a collaborative filtering technique based on users and items. First user-item rating matrix is used to form user clusters and item clusters. Next these clusters are used to find the most similar user cluster or most similar item cluster to a target user. Finally songs are recommended from the most similar user and item clusters. The proposed algorithm is implemented on the benchmark dataset Last.fm. Results show that the performance of proposed method is better than the most popular baseline method.

This paper proposes a mechanism for suppression of charge sharing in single photon processing pixel array by introducing additional circuit. The idea of the proposed mechanism is that in each pixel only analog part will introduced, the digital part is shared between each four pixels, this leads to reduce the number of transistors (area). By having communication pixels, a decision that which one of the neighboring pixels shall collect the distributed charges is taken. The functionality, which involves analog and digital behaviors, is modeled in VHDL.

Abstract
This design for mousing is made up of power control module, infrared sensor module, signal
processing module, distance information transportation based on GSM and device of power grid. The
design consists of two sets of conductors, separately linked by fire wire and null line and distributing
alternatively. The major innovation is infrared sensor module with Fresnel lens, and that the infrared
detecting area should be spread in one direction at least. When the mouse get into the infrared detecting
area, the sensor signal of infrared detecting device is sent to power control module through signal element
and then starts the device of power grid to power up to make the mouse be shocked or die. GSM module
is adopted to tell that the mouse is caught successfully. This design can be placed in any position that the
mouse is always out and no need of baits.
Keywords: infrared sensor module, fresnel lens, device of power grid, GSM
1. Introduction
Rat-problem in people's life has been existing all the time. Compared with the electric
mousetrap that already exists on the market for killing the mice, this design is more practical
and reliable. Remote post type mice- catching-machine based on GSM includes power supply
control module, infrared sensor module, signal processing module, distance information
transportation based on GSM module and power grid device. The design is simple and easy to
use with low power consumption, high reliability and other advantages.
Electric mousetrap emphasis on the high voltage touching the mice. The conductors are
arranged alternately that are connected by two power electrodes of the high voltage conductive
circuit. The conductive circuit with high electric current can make mice die for electric shock. In
general, the electrified wire netting with high voltage is without electricity, which can save
electric energy and permit mice going to the electrified wire netting. The switch of the electrified
wire netting giving a high voltage is located on the top of the wire netting, which is an electric
infrared sensor. This infrared sensor can release infrared ray that can detect mice. And the
innovation point of this design is that the sensor only detects the 1/3 middle part of the
electrified wire netting, and the other 1/3 parts can’t be detected. Once the mouse comes into
the 1/3 middle part of the wire netting, the electric infrared sensor device can sense the targets
(namely mice). The signal of electric infrared sensor is sent to the module of power controlling
through module of signal processing. At this time, the other 1/3 parts are added high voltage,
and if the mouse wants to leave or go further, it will be flashed or be electrocuted depending on
the voltage value. In case of people touching the electricity carelessly, the device will flash the
red light to remind people. There is another innovation, the infrared sensor is based on Fresnel,
which will produce the signal to control the voltage when the mouse moves. Or else, there is no
signal output and the electric network can’t produce the power. This kind of design can
decrease the electricity consumption, and won’t forbid the following mice (As I mentioned
above, when mice get to the middle part of the device, the Fresnel starts to work).

transportation. The structure of the device is the place will flash mice. The most important
module is the infrared sensor part which realize the function of detection, switch controlling, and
power controlling. And the module of GSM completes the communication function that will send
the capture situation to the specific phone. The whole device is made up of conducting bars that
are connected by the power’s two poles and are arranged alternatively. This kind of design
results in making the conducting path including the mouse.
Figure 1 is the power grid structure of the device. In the Figure, the 5 part is the
structure of the electric grid that is composed by conductors connected by the two power poles.
And the voltage circulation of the device is 220V. The conductors are arranged alternatively and
are isolated from the ground. The distance between the conductors should be less than the 1/2
length of the mouse. As shown in the Figure, the support (3part) holds the Fresnel lens at the
bottom of the infrared sensor (PIR). Supposing area b is a circle with the radius of b detected by
the infrared sensor, there should be another two area a (a>=b) on its sides. The sensing signal
from the infrared sensor is sent part 2 which represents the signal processing module. It can
control the power controlling module in which there is an electric relay to control the on-off of the
power controlling module.
Figure1. The power grid structure of the device
Figure 2 is unit of circuit configuration of sensor signal processing. The device of the
infrared sensor PIR with Fresnel lens (part 4 in the Figure) which is placed in the right front of
PIR. The signal S at the output passes through C1 (filtering function) and RP1 (potential device)
and then arrives at the infrared sensor processor (BISS0001 integrated circuit, shown in the
Figure). When changing the distance between the infrared sensor and the electric grid, the
detecting area can be changed. When adjusting RP2 (potential device), the duration of the time
of the output signal can also be changed. Input signal in pin 14 shown in the Figure passes
through its first operational amplifier and then export from pin 16. And the AC signal passes
through capacitor C5 and then arrived at the second operational amplifier through pin 13 and
the DC could not pass through C5. Then the signal exports U0 to power controlling module
through pin 2[1,2,5]. The duration time of the controlling signal U0 is controlled by the delay
timer composed by RP2 and C2[3,4]. If the RP2 is changed, the time of outputting the high
voltage from pin 2 can be changed. The blocking timer is composed by R1 and C3, during which
time the output of pin 2 will not be controlled by the input of pin14. R3, C4, R4 and C6 make up
the low band pass filter that restrains high frequency signal[6,7,8].

As shown in Figure 2, Fresnel lens (be identified by 4) is placed in the right front of the
PIR, which can cut the infrared ray radiating from the mouse to non-sequence ray and can
coverage the infrared ray that can be collect by the PIR device and then be changed to
electrical signal. If the mouse moves, there will be AC output, or else, there will be DC.
Figure 3 is the structure of the power control module. U0 that is output by the signal
processing unit passes through R5 (resister) and Q (triode), which together composed the
driving circuit (be identified by 1 in the Figure). And the current from the driving circuit controls
the electric relay (is identified by J). When there is an output signal, the contact point can be
closed so that the electric grid (be identified by 5 in the Figure) can start to work. The current-
limiting resistance (R6) and the light emitting diodes (D) are both adjustable. When the electric
grid are charged, D will be lighted in order to alarm people that there is electrified.

In order to capture mice conveniently and deal with the mouse that has been shocked
to death timely, GSM module as the communication system helps. The software refers to the
serial communication between single-chip microcomputer (SCM) and GSM module, SPI
communication between the host computer and slave computer, information encoding of GPS,
and GSM-AT encoding. The function of the main program is to initialize GSM and send
message to the phone. The function of the subprogram is to set the baud rate of the serial, start
up the serial, initialize GSM module and so on. Figure 4 is the hardware base of the GSM. GSM
includes radio frequency circuits and baseband to provide users with the standard AT
commands, data, voice, short message and fax to provide fast, reliable, secure long-distance
transmission. SIM card module shown in the Figure only accepts control from controlling
module. After receiving the control signal, the control module will send information from the
content to the specific mobile phone.
Figure 4. Hardware base of the GSM
GSM realizes the function of communication. Then there will be some introduction of
the AT instructions in the following. AT instruction, instruction symbols, data, PDU data packets
are transmitted in the ASCII encoding form, so it is necessary to set up mobile phone’s work
mode for the PDU format, referring the instruction AT+CMGF=0[1,9,10]. And what we should
notice that end the instructions sent to mobile phone with a carriage return. For example, the
instruction alignment of “AT+CMGF=0” is “41H, 54H, 2BH, 42H, 4DH, 47H, 46H, 3DH, 30H,
0DH” and the last “0DH” represents the ending of the instruction. And the flow chart of the AT
instruction is shown in the following Figure 5.

Figure 5. The flow chart of AT instruction
The pyroelectric infrared sensing device can collect signal and output AC and DC
signal, which has been referred above. Then the software can change the AC and DC signal
into 1 and 0(binary system)[11]. Once the change of 0-to-1 is detected, in other words, the
switch triger is pushed, then the power adding device powers up. When detecting the change of
1-to -0 for a period of time (can be set in the program), the powering adding device stops
working. All above mean that the infrared sensoring signal can control the powering device
through trriger signal.
3. Results and Test
This design has been tested for one week placed where mice always went. To acquire
better results, the camera was set in the place. On one Monday night, a mouse was captured
successfully and could not escape because of the specific design which has been described in
the paper. And the phone will get the message 50 seconds later. To test the continuous capture
of the mouse, the first mouse captured was not cleaned out. And the second mouse was
captured on that week’s Thursday. According to the result of the test, the design is potential. If
the design is changed smaller and improved further, it can be applied in capturing the
cockroaches.
4. Conclusion
This design combines mousing catcher and GSM module, and is controlled by MCU to
realize the tele-control. The design based on GSM make it accessible of the communication
between people and the device. And the specific design of the postplacement is one of the
innovation points, that is, only the mouse goes into the electric grid, the grid can be live with
electricity which can decrease the power consumption. Considering the safety, for there is only
the middle 1/3 part of the electric grid can be chargeable with just 110V or 220V and there will
be a red light to remind people, so it is relatively safe.
