What is Research……..????????
Research
• The systematic study of materials and sources in order to
establish facts and reach new conclusions.
Types of Research
• Quantitative
• Qualitative
• Critical
• Design-based
Design based Research
• A systematic but flexible methodology aimed to improve educational
practices through analysis, design, development, and implementation.
Characteristics of Design based research
• It is based on collaboration among researchers and practitioners in real-world
settings.
• It leads to contextually-sensitive design principles and theories.
• Related to engineering and architectural research.
• Focuses on the design, construction, implementation and adoption of a
learning initiative.
Design based research method
• This method is used for design based research.
• The researchers and the practitioners works collaboratively in this method.
Design based research method
This method consists of Four steps
Step : 1
• Analysis of practical problems by researchers and practitioners in
collaboration.
• The researchers analyze the data and sources related to the practical problem.
Step : 2
• Development of solutions informed by existing design principles and
technological interventions.
Step : 3
• In this step the testing and refinement of solution are practiced.
• The purpose of testing and refinement is to evaluate that how much the
given solution is effective for the current problem.
Step : 4
• The last step is the implementation of the solution of the problem.
• Reflection to produce designed principles and enhance solution
implementation.
Why we need DBR…???????
Benefits of DBR
• Practical contribution.
• Theoretical contribution.
• Improve new learning.
• Generate new ideas.
• Introduce useful methodologies for researchers.
