Abstract
This project, which aims to develop a professional portfolio for teacher educators and student teachers, is in its budding stage. The focus is to develop a Learning Management System with many of the social networking features.Student teachers can upload products including My Teaching Philosophy, Reflective Journal, Lesson Plans, Teaching Video and Photos in addition to detailed personal and academic profiles,.Every product is uploaded with a reflective note and there is a provision for comments and feedback. A major feature is to make performance assessment strategies as an integral part of the portfolio system. The self,peer, and mentor assessmentsare carried out using rubrics. Login to the system is also allowed for educational institutions, employers and guests and the public. It is expected that the system works as an effective tool for engaging student teachers and teacher educators to create and share a pool of pedagogical knowledge.

How can we encourage student engagement with their academic reading? What role can technology play for campus-based and online students in supporting their academic skills development? What solutions are available and how effective are they in supporting students?
These are some of the questions that are addressed in this cross-institutional study of social reading software, looking at the current market options (e.g. Talis Elevate, Leganto ‘Read and Respond’ and Hypothes.is) and the affordances of the supported technology.
Informed by pilot studies with Talis Elevate conducted over the autumn and spring terms (2021-22 academic year) at the University of Leicester, and market research by the University of York, we use this evidence-base to appraise the current state of the market - reporting on technical integration issues with reading lists and VLE platforms, as well as desired functionality to empower students to create and manage critical discussions around target resources, ranging from key texts to images, with scope to annotate key texts and resources online. We then go on to discuss the results of pilot studies with Talis Elevate, focusing on academic engagement strategies to help students make best use of the software to develop their academic reading skills, as well as practical issues related to copyright controls and permissions.

The e-learning contained many educational resources are generally used in learning systems like Moodle, It’s free open source software packages designed and flexible platform to create Learning Objects (LOs) and users’ accounts. The author demonstrates how to use semantic web technologies to improve online learning environments and bridge the gap between learners and LOs. The ontological construction presented here helps formalize LOs context as a complex interplay of different learning-related elements and shows how we can use semantic annotation to interrelate diverse between learner and LOs. On top of this construction, the author implemented several feedback channels for educators to improve the delivery of future Web-based learning. The particular aim of this paper was to provide a solution based in the Moodle Platform. The main idea behind the approach presented here is that ontology which can not only be useful as a learning instrument but it can also be employed to assess students’ skills. For it, each student is prompted to express his/her beliefs by building own discipline-related ontology through an application displayed in the interface of Moodle. This paper presents the ontology for an e-Learning System, which arranges metadata, and defines the relationships of metadata, which are about learning objects; belong to academic courses and user profiles. This ontology has been incorporated as a critical part of the proposed architecture. By this ontology, effective retrieval of learning content, customizing Learning Management System (LMS) is expected. Metadata used in this paper are based on current metadata standards. This ontology specified in human and machine-readable formats. In implementing it, several APIs were defined to manage the ontology. They were introduced into a typical LMS such as Moodle. Proposed ontology maps user preferences with learning content to satisfy learner requirements. These learning objects are presented to the learner based on ontological relationships. Hence it increases the usability and customizes the LMS. In conclusion, ontologies have a range of potential benefits and applications in further and higher education, including the sharing of information across e-learning systems, providing frameworks for learning object reuse, and enabling information between learner and system parts.

In a typical learning environment, e-learning is used to facilitate interaction beyond the lecture hall between educators and learners. However, in reality, the interaction is very much limited within the existing e-learning platform and in most cases; it is under utilized to achieve its educational goal to increase the learner’s learning experience.
Ideally, PLE provides a learning environment (with integration of social software) that support learners to make their own decision in directing their learning experience.
PLE promotes scaffolding and active learning where educators provide scaffold tasks and it is up to the learners how to achieve the tasks (McLoughlin and Lee, 2007). The major components of PLE should include social computing aspects which allow the creation of appropriate learning environment using social software. PLE encourages knowledge construction, collaboration, communication and social networking between learners, their peers and the experts (including the educators).
In general, social computing represents a collection of web applications or technologies which we usually refer as Web 2.0 or social software.
