Descriptive Essays Ideas
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Descriptive Essays Ideas" can be a challenging endeavor.
The difficulty lies not only in the demand for creativity and originality but also in the need for a
deep understanding of the chosen topic. Generating unique and captivating ideas that go beyond
the ordinary can be a daunting task, as it requires a keen observational skill and the ability to
convey those observations in a vivid and engaging manner.
Moreover, the challenge extends to the selection of the right words and the construction of
sentences that evoke a sensory experience for the reader. It's not just about describing something;
it's about painting a picture with words, making the reader feel as though they are immersed in
the scene or concept being presented.
The process of brainstorming and refining ideas to create a well-structured essay can be time-
consuming. It demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to revising and
polishing the writing until it achieves the desired level of clarity and expressiveness.
In navigating through this intricate process, writers often find themselves grappling with the
balance between providing enough detail to create a vivid image and avoiding overwhelming the
reader with an excessive amount of information.
Despite these challenges, mastering the art of descriptive essays can be immensely rewarding. It
not only hones one's writing skills but also enhances the ability to perceive and articulate the
nuances of the world around us.
For those who may find this task particularly daunting, it's worth noting that assistance is
available. Various platforms, likeHelpWriting.net, offer services where similar essays and
much more can be ordered. These resources can provide valuable support to individuals seeking
guidance or seeking professionally crafted essays on a wide range of topics.

Effects Of Credit Risk On Financial Institutions
A common saying tied to many new endeavors, Without risk, there is no reward .
Financial institutions are no exception to this rule. The major risks that all financial
institutions are exposed to are credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, market risk,
business risk, reputational risk, systemic risk, and moral hazard (Perez, 2014). Of
these top eight scenarios, credit, market, and operational risks are the three major risk
factors that Jeanne D Arc is focused on mitigating during and following the business
service project.
Credit risk indicates a decline in the credit assets values before default that arises
from the deterioration in a financial institution s portfolio quality. Credit risk can
also represent the volatility the loss in the credit asset s value and the loss in the
current and future earnings from the credit (Perez, 2014). To prepare and
accommodate inevitable losses stemming from our business credit card Jeanne D Arc
has budgeted for a loan loss reserve to help protect the financial integrity and assets of
the credit union.
Operational risk occurs in all day to day activities in banking. As the credit union is
looking to attract a new type of member, this risk is can be caused by inadequate
internal processes, people, systems, and external events. Some examples of
operational risk include people risk, hacking of the core processing system, errors in
information processing, data transmission, data retrieval, and inaccuracy of outputs
(Perez, 2014).
Artistry Uncorked Case Study
Artistry Uncorked is a form of entertainment that offers people a place to try
something different. Located near the short north, Artistry Uncorked provides a
unique service for customers to paint and enjoy local beer and wine. These events
will attract a plethora of people from recent graduates to older adults. The
competition has been rising over the years, however most of the sessions do not
include beverages in the fees. Artistry Uncorked will include beverages and
provide a whole new experience compared to Wine and Canvas. Columbus has an
abundant amount of art shows and galleries that would boost the chances of
success for the company. The supplies Artistry Uncorked buys will be recycled to

The more popular Artistry Uncorked becomes, the more opportunities it would
have to grow and expand. With alcohol sales increasing, especially craft beer sales,
the company gains an advantage on the competition by selling local craft beers.
The threat of the mass beer producing companies like Annheiser and Miller will not
be as great s it would have been years ago due to the demand of craft beer. On the
other hand the only service Artistry Uncorked provides is panting essentially. So
expanding to other activities may be tough at first, but through customer feedback
and demand the company would be able to innovate and provide satisfaction. To
attract our target audience, Artistry Uncorked will mainly focus on the uses of online
and event marketing. The online aspect would be used through Facebook, Twitter,
and Instagram. Since the majority of the younger generation have if not one but all
of these accounts, the younger aged adults will be the target. When this demographic
sees the ads on social media, it can then be passed on to friends, family, and others to

Redwall Essay
Redwall
Redwall is a tale of a huge abbey which is named Redwall and within it live all sorts
of animals, such as badgers, mice, squirrels, shrews, rabbits and hedgehogs. Redwall
s greatest hero is named Matthias. He is young mouse who seems normal, even
average, in appearance, but through a series of adventures and tests he discovers that

Cluny stepped out of the shadows with his sword in hand. Matthias heart stopped
with the icy glare Cluny gave him. This lasted only a second before Matthias leaped
forward with his bellowing war cry, REDWALLLLL! .
Clearly this quotation shows how Good must always face Evil at some point even
though the odds do not seem to be in your favor. Evil can be defeated through the
strength and courage of Good.
One of the best parts of this book is that it has great descriptions of scenery and the
abbey s grand feasts. Between all the fighting and action it has a nice contrast with
the details of the scenery. This quotation shows this, Dawn arrived as if it were not
aware of the previous night s events. Bright rays of sun shown down through the
trees. Steam rose as the morning dew evaporated. This quotation gives such a neat
image but lets you still image it your own way. This book has much more details that
are great.
As the book moves through the plot and is approaching it s climax you can only
wonder if Good can prevail through unimaginable odds or if Evil will conquer.
You, Abbot Mouse, you have until tomorrow evening
to give me your answer.

The War Of Versailles Between The Allies And Germany
At the beginning of 1919 all eyes were turned towards Paris. The city was to
become the main focal point for the world s population. This was where the peace
talks were to be held to draw a close to the First World War, the war to end all wars.
World leaders from 32 countries converged on Paris armed with the demands for
their countries reparation. The Big Three participants of the peace talks wanted
more than just reparation. For six months the world s most powerful and influential
men met every day arguing, then discussing, then arguing again. Deals were made,
various treaties drawn up and new countries and organisations were created, the
decisions made between January and June 1919 were the most important. This
demonstration of power, debate and decision making had never been seen before
nor would it be seen ever again. The treaty was signed at the Palace of Versailles
between the Allies and Germany. The three most important politicians there were
David Lloyd George representing Great Britain, Georges Clemenceau for France and
Woodrow Wilson, president of the United States of America. The victors from World
War One were in no mood to be charitable to the defeated nations and Germany in
particular was held responsible for the war and its consequences. (http:/

Valuation Allowance
05 5 There are two basic principles related to accounting for income taxes, each of
which considers uncertainty through the application of recognition and measurement
criteria: * a. To recognize the estimated taxes payable or refundable on tax returns for
the current year as a tax liability or asset * b. To recognize a deferred taxliability or
asset for the estimated future tax effects attributable to temporary differences and
carryforwards.

considered in determining the need for and amount of a valuation allowance for
those and other deferred tax assets. One source is future reversals of temporary

Pilgrimages In The Odyssey
Throughout this semester we have explored a variety of cultures and the recurring
theme of pilgrimages and the storytelling of these pilgrimages. While every journey
is not the same, each of the pilgrimages has a lesson that can be learned. Two of the
main pilgrimages that we explored were, Homer s Odyssey, and Dante s Inferno,
both of which have a strong lesson about fate, but explore the topic in very different
ways. In Homer s Odyssey the story starts ten years after the Trojan War, where we
find Odysseuswho is the last Greek hero to not return to Ithaca. The story starts in
the middle of Odysseus journey home. He finds himself imprisoned by Calypso, a
goddess, who wants to marry Odysseus. There is then a meeting of the gods,
without Calypso of course, where Athena s voiced her support in Odysseus making
it home. The gods agree with Athena and Hermes delivers the news to Calypso, that
she must let Odysseus return to Ithaca. Calypso attempts to get Odysseus to stay by
saying But if you only knew, down deep, what pains are fated to fill your cup before

But then, when the happy gods bring on the long hard times, bear them he must,
against his will, and steel his heart (Book 18). Odyssey keeps finding himself in
situations of conflict throughout the whole book, but with the help of the gods
/goddesses he is able to make it back to Ithaca. While Odysseus journey was
extremely difficult and extensive, he eventually makes it to his fate, with the help
of the gods. The way fate is seen in Greek culture, it is believed that no matter what
you do, you will always reach your fate, and while the gods can help you get there,
we see that if you misuse the tools and help that the gods provide, it will only cause
the journey to your fate to be longer and harder than
Kentucky Local City Council Is Against Paying Bribes to...

desperately needed, this city council will not be paying any bribes to this company or
any other company. We believe that our citizens are the most important in this state as
opposed to a possible fly by night company. The state plans to use eminent domain to

could improve economic development.

Analysis Of Frremont High By Jonathan Kozol
Most people assume that America has the best education in the world. In fact, my
dad moved our whole family here mainly for us (his children) to get a good
education. However, what he and many others are not aware of is the effects that
economic inequality has on education. Jonathan Kozol s Fremont High discusses how
the lack of funding affects the quality of educationthat students are receiving.
Homeless on Campus by Eleanor J Bader brings light to the hardships of homeless
collegestudents and the fact that school institutions aren t providing them any
assistance. On the other hand, Anu Partanen s Finland School Success explores how
getting rid of economic inequality had greatly benefited education in Finland.
Jonathan Kozol, who is an American writer, best known for his books on public
education in the United States wrote about the condition of which students at a public
high school in Los Angeles were going through. In his essay, Fremont High , Kozol
informs us of how students success was being affected because of the lack of well
equipped classrooms, as well as necessary classes to help them succeed in college.
Kozol starts off with a vivid description of the classrooms he was visiting. He
describes the conditions of these classrooms by saying that nearly a third of all the
classrooms in the school, were located in portables...in converted storage closets

Elephant Persuasive Essay
Miscommunication is the source of the worlds major problems. Change can only
occur after both parties have an open conversation. If one party is unable to advocate
for themselves, they re placed in extreme danger. You wouldn t utilize manipulation

Edgar Degas
In examining the work of the impressionist artist Edgar Degas, though he himself
preferred to be considered a realist, the very mention of his name conjures images
of ballerinas. From the most famous statue of Little Dancer Fourteen Years Old
who stands prominently defined in our mind s eyes or the swirling masses of
color and form that showed visions of Parisian Operas in the 1800s like that seen
in the painting Dancers in the Wings, Degas work is indelibly linked to the world
of these petite dancers. On the surface it appears a brief glimpse into their lives,
but the work of Degas, much like himself is shrouded in heavy layers of enigma
and meaning. Why did he focus so highly on the youth of the Parisian ballets, and
in what ways does this convey and reveal the attitude of Degas towards his subjects
but also his approaches to art? By examining the world of these ballerinas, we can
dissect the juxtaposing values of pain and beauty found in their lives, as well as the
underlying voyeuristic and sexually charged undertones of Degas own perspective.
First, we must revisit the reality of the youth pictured throughout much of Degas
work. His initial sketches of this subject begin as early as 1860 in which the Opera
was an immense pleasure palace, a symbol of French historical pride and
preeminence, and a nostalgic repository of the... Show more content on

Argumentative Essay On The War On Drugs
How would you limit a chemical which causes addictions, diseases, and crime from
being put out into the population? Some possible way to rectify this is to pass new
laws that can punish the offenders from small fines or jail time; to even large
sentencing. The first time we see America take a stance on the drug epidemic is in
1890 when congress imparted a new act that levied new taxes on morphineand opium.
This is the first time we see the government fight back against narcotics; however,
the term War on Drugs hadn t been coined yet; the term War on Drugs won t be
heard of until 1970, but it is best defined as the government s initiative to prevent
and eradicate drug use. Who cares if the government tries to eradicate drug use in
our nation? Well for starters the drug cartel and gangs, people living in poverty,
and families and society as a whole. These all matter because it directly affects us
and our interaction with other people. Drugs negatively impact user s health,
physical abilities, wealth, and social status. Despite all these reasons why would
anyone even do these narcotics? Well according to NIDA there are three main
reasons which factor into a person s becoming addicted to drugs; firstly they state
The genes that people are born with accounts for about half of a person s risk for

Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, is the best kind of historical fiction in which valuable
lessons from the past can be learned. (Commonsensemedia.org) So begins Roll of

that Stacey has greatly matured because even his father has noticed that he has

The Causes Of Computer Threats
Have you ever wondered about today s ongoing problem with computer based
threats? There are many online complications today with these new generations
forming. Computer viruses, malware, identity theft, online predators, cyber bullying,
phishing, and hacking (black hat and white hat) are only a few problems going on
online, yet they cause so many problems and threats.
To begin with, computer viruses are types of malicious software programs that
replicate themselves by changing other computer programs and inserting their own
code. This all happens when they get executed. This takes place when computers
become infected with the virus, there are many reasons to why computers can
become infected. Accepting without reading is by far the most common way a
computer can become infected. This happens when a user just automatically accepts
what they see on their screen without reading the prompt before continuing. For
example, while on the internet an advertisement or a window may appear that says
your computer is infected, without completely understanding what you re getting,
you accept the prompt anyways. Another reason to why your computer may become
infected is by downloading any infected software. When downloading software such
as programs, utilities, games, updates, demos, etc. always make sure you are
downloading this software from reliable sources. Always read all prompts about what
the program is installing onto your computer. Opening e mail attachments can cause

Neanderthal Parallax, Hominids, by Robert J. Sawyer
The human race has achieved many impossible feats. We have landed on the
moon, illuminated the world with the electric light, and cured illnesses that used
kill thousands. In a world where we look to technology to answer all of life s
problems, we are faced with a dilemma. How can our technology possibly keep up
with our modern needs? In the first book of the Neanderthal Parallax, Hominids, by
Robert J. Sawyer, we are transported into a parallel universe. In this unpolluted world
that is populated by Neanderthals, there is a sophisticated computing system, we
know as a quantum computer. As of 2014, quantum computers are still in their
infancy, and have been prophesied since the early 1990s. However, work on building
a quantum computer, and creating algorithms compatible with one, began around the
turn of the century. As one of only seven sci fi writers in the world, and the only
Canadian, who has won all three of the top international awards for science fiction, he
is known for the amount of research and probable vision intertwined into the
technology in his books.
A quantum computer is a sophisticated computer device that can actually calculate
the use of quantum mechanical phenomena, to perform operations on data. Basically,
it s one of the few devices that can calculate the quantum theory. Quantum theory is
also classified as quantum mechanics, which is a branch of physics that deals with
physical phenomena inside of particles at nanoscopic scales (Wilczek). It

Influenza As An Influenza Virus
INTRODUCTION:Influenza, more commonly known as the flu , is a chameleon like
infectious disease, that presents itself with varying characteristics from year to year,
due to the wavering identity of the strain. Like HIV, influenza is an RNA virus,
constantly changing its appearance and adept at eluding recognition by the human
immune system (Schneider, 2014). From its inception of 1918, influenzaclaims an
average of 250,000 to 500,000 people worldwide, annually. Little is known of the
virus s origin however; recent studies examined pathology specimens belonging to

(Schneider, 2014). Evidence has correlated a pattern of influenza strain elements,
accompanied by consistent transmutation, that has established a paralleled
relationship between that of animal reservoirs and Asia. It is believed that global
transmission of the virus is carried via birds that consume food from the same
sources that of pigs, consisting of contaminated feed and waterfowl. Human and
animal influenza viruses incubate in a pig s digestive system, forming new genetic
combinations (Schneider, 2014). Asia occupies cohabitation of the two species that
yield fertile breeding grounds for a virus to manifest, while posing a significant threat
and concern to the heavily populated areas within close proximity.

Ancient Mariner
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, is one of the most
powerful and strong poems in the English language. It is also a supernatural poem.
The Pirates of the Caribbean, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer is a very famous film
series that started in 2003. Both The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and The Pirates of
the Caribbean have many similarities and differences in the settings, themes,
imageries, and many other resources. The main idea of The Rime of the Ancient
Marineris a moral message, and warning against uncaring and imprudent actions, such
as when the Mariner killed the albatrosswhich symbolizes a blessing. The Pirates of
the Caribbean talks about the curse of the black pearl.

The poem starts in a middle of a wedding were an old Mariner stopped them, no one
from the wedding guests stayed, just one of them did. The Mariner tells the guy
his story about his dangerous ship, but an albatross appeared suddenly on the ship
which was a symbol of positivity and a blessing from God. This albatross protected
him and his ship. Suddenly, the Mariner tells the guy that he killed the albatross
and how guilty he is for killing this blessing. His shipmates blamed him for the
curse and made him wear the albatross around his neck like a cross. The Mariner
and his shipmates were cursed and went through a lot during this journey after the
albatross was killed, they all had to accept the curse they have received, because of
his foolish action by killing this blessing. They had to appreciate this creature, this
blessing. Since the Mariner killed the albatross, known as a blessing from God, he
and his shipmates are cursed until he learned to appreciate all kinds of creatures.
Also, in The Pirates of the Caribbean, when the crew of the Black Pearl steals ancient
gold, they become cursed until they can return all the stolen pieces. Basically, both
stories learn from their careless and thoughtless actions which led them to become
The American Dream In Finding Forrester
Dreams are what drive people to better themselves and force them to move past
difficulties in pursuit. For many of the characters in Finding Forrester, dreams are
a pillar, just as they are for Jamal, a young man at risk of becoming another statistic
in his neighborhood despite hidden writing potential. His polar opposite, William
Forrester, realizes this when a break in turns into a writing lesson. Forrester is the
author of the great book of the 20th century called Avalon Landing, the only book he
ever publishes. Robbie Brown, who plays Jamal, describes Jamal s feeling of having

For Jamal this dream is to write. A simple ambition with little direction to begin,
encouragement from an unexpected, but beneficial friend, leads to a blossoming
of potential in Jamal. This skill is especially prominent when Jamal s test scores
come back. Everyone is surprised at the excellence they show from a student who
does just enough to get by, but they open doors Jamal had never considered for
himself. A full scholarship to the prestigious private school, Mailor Callow, being
at the top of the list. Having this opportunity presented to him is a shock to Jamal,
who simply knew he loved to read and write. Now, having to consider his options,
Jamal reflects upon them. Either he can either continue at his present school and
maintain his status with the same assumptions involving his race and economic
status to be made about him or he can pursue his dreams. But the decision and how
he will use the opportunity are left up to the only person that can truly impact his
dreams, Jamal himself. In the end, opportunity wins out and Jamal chooses to attend
the school and begin his new path. Such a path may not have been possible at all
without the help of William Forrester. Forrester brings out Jamal s intelligence and
Jamal brings Forrester back into life, says Rob Brown. They need each other in a way
they never imagined, (Movielocity, 2001, p. 2). Both individuals assist and
encourage each other s dreams. Forrester s method and help is obvious throughout
the movie while Jamal s effect on Forrester is more subtle. The one instance of
Jamal directly influencing Forrester is when, on Forrester s birthday, Jamal attempts
to take him to a basketball game. Hundreds of people are in attendance and after
years of isolation, the crowd is frightening to Forrester. Jamal redeems the evening by
taking him to an empty Yankee Stadium, where some of Forrester s better memories

Marketing Strategy For The Downtown Auburn Area Essay
Marketing Strategy:
Joyride
Background:
We are in the business of providing reliable micro transportation to the downtown
Auburn area. There is no free on demand transportation in the area but many growing
businesses.
A joyride in Auburn would provide thousands of people an easier opportunity to
commute around campus and downtown Auburn.
Over the next two years I plan to grow Joyride to a stable, household brand to
students and residence alike of the Auburn community. I plan to grow to Joyride to
eight carts that would be constantly and consistently used throughout the week. I six
business in the downtown area would be willing to sponsor a cart marketing package.
Specific target businesses would be: Skybar, Bourbon Street Bar, Quixotes, The
Hound, Acre Restaurant, Live Oaks, Avondale Bar Tap Room, Moes Original, Little
Italy Pizzeria, Pieology Pizzeria, Auburn Draft house, 17 16 Bar, Ellie Shoe
Boutique, and Locker Room.
There are many, many businesses that would receive the full personalized sales pitch
from me but those listed above are those that I think have the expendable income to
support a marketing endeavor.
I believe that Joyride can take over a significant market share of the on demand
transportation service in the community since on demand ride shares have just been
legalized in Auburn as of just this August and the only competition Uber is just now
getting the ball rolling themselves with no market competition.
I am compelled to start Joyride in
Luther Vs Bach
Quite otherwise, J. S. Bach composed for the German Protestant Reformation. One
hundred years before, Martin Luther reclaimed the grace and mercy of God in Jesus
Christ.
And the Reformer s high regard for singing Scriptural texts in worship prepared the
way for
Bach. Luther wrote, I give music the next place after theology and the highest honor.
And, he added, in his typically earthy way, Whoever has no desire or love for music
and is not moved by such lovely wonders must surely be an uncouth clod. That was
Martin Luther.

When Bach began a musical composition, before even a note was written, he would

This is probably a naГЇve thought, but suppose the world ever came to comprehend

Bach s greatest contribution was not his music, but rather the message that whatever

The Pros And Cons Of Animal Captivity
Captive animals are abused and exploited in a variety of settings, including research
and product testing, the entertainment industry, fur farms, and the exotic pet trade
(Born Free USA). Zoos are holding animals all around the world captive. Zoos are
not letting them live in their natural habitats and roam free. Captive animals are are

It is referred to as a repetitive locomotion stereotype. During the progression of the
behavior over time, the intensity changes. When the animal initially begins the
pacing, they may be easily distracted by sights or sounds. However, after some period
of time, the animal may appear in a trance, unable to break their pace or gaze. This is
what we so often see in zoos the apparent detachment from their environment (Di

strongly. Also, Zoos, contrary to what many people believe, often cause great
suffering and stress to the captive animals. Animals in zoos are caged for life and
deprived of the opportunity to develop and fulfill the full range of their interests
and needs. They lose control over their lives and the environment they live in. Social
animals are often forced to live in the misery of solitary confinement. Animals who
would prefer to live alone are often forced into close contact with others ( Zoos ).

Social media is one of the key tools of communication and socialization. It allows
teens and children to stay connected with friends and family and serves as a
platform to share ideas (O Keeffe 801). Social media profiles can also serve as a
container that fosters one s individual identity and unique social skills (O Keeffe

For example, some middle and high school teachers use Edmodo an online website
designed to resemble a social media profile as a teaching tool. These sites have the
benefit of reinforcing skills in English, written expression, and creativity (O Keeffe

to approach identity formation more thoughtfully (Parry). While extensive use of

Thomas Hobbes And The Social Contract
Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679), an English philosopher published the work, Leviathan,
which proposed the concept of the social contract, in which societal assimilation
mandates submission to authoritarian rule, with a relinquishment of certain rights, in
return for protection and aid. Hobbes offered a foundational premise for benefits that
otherwise might be absent, if not for societal constructs. John Locke, another English
philosopher published the Essay Concerning Human Understanding, which
expounded on the work of Hobbes by proposing a more integrated and ordered
society. The societal implications meant a surrender of some individual freedoms in
return for a governmental structure tasked with the responsibility of protections,

Cesare believed that punishment was an effective deterrent to crime, as the offender
is rational and in control of their actions and behaviors. Cesare expressed that the
punishment should fit the crime and that adjudication and punishment should be both
swift and certain . He advocated for due process on the implication of innocence until
proven guilty and condemned torture on the same pretense as torturous punishment
towards self incrimination implies guilt prior to a guilty verdict by a judicial body.
His principles influenced classic criminology in the principles of punishment, due
process, rationality, and human rights. The Bill of Rights in the US constitution has
several concepts influenced, some believe, by his writings. (Cesare Beccaria,
2017)Jeremy Bentham, author of Introduction to the Principles of Moral and
Legislation , built on Cesare statement that punish should fit the crime , by asserting
that the hedonistic nature of man requires that the pain or punishment of committing
the crime outweigh the pleasure or reward obtained from committing the crime
(Schmalleger, 2010). Bentham asserted the position that human rationality and
hedonistic pursuits factored into the mentality of an individual s decision to commit a
crime based on proper or extreme punishments to serve as a deterrent. Hobbes
Form Of Slavery
The New Form of Slavery
Introduction
Kevin Bales describes modern slavery as, adapting an old practice to the new global
economy (11). He uses this statement to refer to the methods through which modern
slaveholders disguise their activities. According to Bales, modern slaveholders take
advantage of vulnerable groups of people in their hunt for slaves. They do not
consider color, religion or ethnicity while taking people into slavery (10).
Modern slaves
Modern slavery is the absolute control over another person s rights without
necessarily having the legal rights to own that person. Bales argues that this form of
slavery arose from the realization that full ownership of slaves exposes slaveholders
to unnecessary maintenance costs. Therefore, ... Show more content on

Many families usually sell their daughters to brothels that use them as sex slaves.
Their culture supports the selling of women, as they do not consider them important
in society. Most of the times, parents sell their daughters to help improve on their
financial status. According to Bales, most of them sell their daughters with the
purpose of buying television sets. In this business, the girls have no control over
their lives. Their masters make all the decisions (Bales 35).
HISTORICAL SLAVERY IN MAURITANIA
Most of the black Mauritanians inherited slavery from their parents. The parents
were slaves; therefore, their children could not avoid slavery. They still work for
their parents masters. Many of their masters take advantage of the teachings of the
Kuran to continue holding slaves. On the other hand, the slaves do not ask for
payment because they fear going against the teachings of the Kuran (Bales 80).
Similarities between the slavery in the two countries
They both take advantage of people s weaknesses. The parents in Thailand take
advantage of their daughters ignorance to sell them. In Mauritania, masters take
advantage of their servants ignorance of the freeing of the slaves in 1980.
The cultures in both countries support the two forms of slavery. In the native Thai
culture, women are property that men use to create more wealth while, in Mauritania,
the Islamic culture supports the capture of slaves in
A Scientific Management, Taylorism, And Management
F.W Taylor introduced a scientific management, Taylorism, in the early 20th century
to solve the problem of inefficiency. The aim of Taylorism is to maixmise
productivity and minimise waste of resources using specialisation of labour. There
are three main components of Taylorism and it will be discussed in detail in the later
paragraphs.
Firstly, according to Rose, M. (1978), Taylor believes that the root of inefficiency
is the slacking and soldiering of workers. And irrational and incompetent of
managers. He further explained the idea of inefficacy by stating managers are
incompetent is because of the growth in scale and technical complexity of industry .
In order to dealt with the slackness of worker, the worker should be closely control
and supervise by inspector. This ensures that no one will shirk during work and the
chance of worker making mistakes are minimized. Hence worker will produce the
maximum effort which leads to increase in productivity. Taylorism also suggested the
use of hierarchy organization structure which means separating the decision maker,
usually the managers and the people who receive orders from the managers and
implement it. This is because he believes that people with no management skills will
not be able to make a right decision and hence may leads to a waste of resources.
Besides supervision, Taylor asserted that managers should apply their professional
knowledge on managing their worker and plan the work. For example, calculating the
Critical Incidents Of Academic Institutions
Critical Incidents in Academic Institutions The critical incident technique is used to
gather and analyze an employees behavior through methods such as observation and
interviews (Andersson Nilsson,1964). This technique is useful in collecting
information regarding behavior that amounts to successful or unsuccessful in a
performance (Peterson, Jeanneret, 2007). The procedures utilized in the critical
incident techniqueallows for the similarities, differences and patterns of behaviors to
be analyzed. This process aids in the solving of problems, and establishing principles
(Hughes, Williamson, Lloyd, 2007; Flanagan, 1954). According to Shapira
Lishchinsky (2010), utilizing critical incident reports in schools assist in enabling the
management of errors, support and autonomy, which in turn reduces ethical friction.
In regard to the schoolsetting, critical incidents include minor incidents that occur
daily in schools. Because of the nature of the job, middle school teachers can face
critical incidents that involve both moral and ethical conflict (Shapira Lishchinsky,
2010). However, the classification or weather it is negative or positive is based on
the meaning given by a teacher, observer, etc. Nonetheless, critical incidents and
behaviors are important to identify as it can be detrimental to a teachers professional
career (Shapira Lishchinsky, 2010). One example of a positive critical incident for
the middle school teacher is teachers who behaviordemonstrates

The archives found in the area depicts that the people of the Ur district worshiped
many Gods. However, it can be deduced that the major God that the people of Ur
worshiped was the Nanna or the Moon God. As mentioned above, the city of Ur
was divided into two areas, namely, common district and the sacred place. The
sacred place has a large monument or massive brickwork which is called the temple
of Sinor the godof the moon. This monument was erected by the king of Ur about
4000 years ago. The temple was made in a series of platforms, one platform on top
of another. The people of Ur assumed that the God lived at the third platform. In the

In this massive destruction, a large number of inhabitants ran away, and several
buildings were destructed. Therefore, there is evidence available regarding the
living of the people in the traditional Ur city. The archaeologists have used the little
information from which the plans of streets, houses and shops have been drawn.
The artifacts and the archeological findings show that in a typical townhouse, street
door opened into a small lobby. The entrance of the house contained a jar of water
which is provided to the arriving people to wash their feet. On another side of the
lobby, there is another courtyard. Surrounding the courtyard were various rooms
like store rooms, lavatory and kitchen. The kitchen includes a table built with
brick, grinding stones and oven for cooking. The people in the ancient city also
used pots and pan for cooking. The typical houses in Ur city contained a long room

pattern. In addition to it, the houses of Ur had a well constructed staircase at the
other side of the house courtyard. Generally, the houses do not have an upper floor;
however, there is evidence that implies that the houses have one or more upper
rooms. The houses in the Ur city also contained the domestic chapel, altar and the

Mezzanine Debt Another Level To Consider
Mezzanine debt is used by companies that are cash flow positive to fund: further
growth through expansion projects; acquisitions; recapitalizations; and, management
and leveraged buyouts. When mezzanine debt is used in conjunction with senior debt
it reduces the amount of equity required in the business. As equity is the most

Although it makes up a portion of a company s total available capital, mezzanine
financing is critical to growing companies and in succession planning in recent
years. The gap in funding between senior debt and equity is common for the
following reasons: 1) accounts receivable, inventories and fixed assets are being
discounted at greater rates than in the past for fear that their values will not be
realized in the future; 2) many balance sheets now contain significant intangible
assets, and, 3) as a result of defaults and regulatory pressure, banks have placed
ceilings on the amount of total debt a company can obtain. While additional liquidity
can be obtained from equity investors, equity is the most expensive source of capital.
Further, equity capital, by its nature, dilutes existing shareholders. As a result,
mezzanine debt can be an attractive alternative way to obtain much needed capital.

Utilizing Video Games to Achieve Open and Honest...
Introduction:
The topic I chose was, utilizing video games to achieve open and honest
communication between parent and child. I have personal experience, as a employee
of one of the largest video game retailers, GameStop, in viewing how various video
games impact communication between parents and their children. There are various
measures that help regulate the audience that play these types of video games. One of
these measures are the use of the ESRB rating system (Entertainment Software Rating
Board), which is a system that rates games for its content to help consumers
understand the content for games and its appropriateness for those who will be
playing those games. This system uses a M rating, for mature games, intended for
an audience of those who are 17 or older. These games receive a rating of mature due
to their violence, language, and sometimes, sexual content.
The reason I chose this topic is its recent controversy with the video game, Grand
Theft Auto V. This game is under recent scrutiny because of the ability to enact
various crimes such as murder, torture, grand theft auto, and the solicitation of
prostitutes. Although this is an extreme example of a violent video game, it serves
as a good base of understanding as far as what is available to the public. The current
question that has risen from this game is, do violent video games evoke violent
tendencies in kids? I would argue no, this is not the cause for violent tendencies in
kids. As well, my stance

Psychology, Theology and Spirituality: Interdisciplinary Approach to Christian
Counseling
Summary
McMinn (2011) uses this book to bring out the importance of the use of spirituality
(as related to Christian faith) in psychological counseling. He describes the Christian
Counselors as people who are highly trained in counseling theory and techniques, in
theology, and are personally disciplined to mirror Christian attributes during and after
counseling. (pg. 139)
According to McMinn (2011), Christian Counselors face the challenges of knowing
the techniques of spiritual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not a formal counseling session. He prayed with me and made me meditate on
Philippians 4:4 6 (NIV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of
God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ
Jesus. He showed me reasons why I need to pray in my situation. The Holy Spirit
made me know I felt disappointed in God (sin). I thought I could pray and He has
to answer all prayers (pride). I meditated on Romans 12:3 (NIV) ...do not think of
yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober
judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. I
confessed my sin of overrating my self opinion, received new grace through
humility referred to in II Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) If my people who are called by my
name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their
wicked ways..., for the healing of my soul. According to McMinn (2011), spirituality
redirects us from illusion of competence, pride, and exaggerated self opinion to help
us admit our helplessness and dependence on the unmerited grace of God. It
happened to me.
Reflection One of the strengths of this book is McMinn s concentration on the
practical aspect of the interdisciplinary integration: the amalgamation of
Fice Of Juvenile Justice And Delinquency Prevention
Youth gang issues has been around for almost several decades and data showed the
proportion of youths joining a gang increased significantly. In order to prevent from
newer generations of youths from joining a gang and essentially ruining their future,
communities formed together to create a blockage to direct them to a successful
future and be a law abiding citizen. The federal government even formed an office
called the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention that operates under
United States department of Justice to attempt by supporting states, local
communities, and tribal jurisdictions in their efforts to develop and implement
effective programs for juveniles . (Howell, J. C., Wilson, J. J., Reno, J., Marcus, D.,

School Based programs is a program that operates in the respective school to prevent
students from joining gangs. Most school in the United States have some sort of
school based activities to keep young students out of trouble and under surveillance if
a parent or a guardian is not home to monitor the kids. The strategy the Office of
Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention recommends is in school safety and
control procedures to interfere and identify students that might ve been exposed with
gang, experience more meaningful, effective, and enjoyable by hosting gym
activities for students to participate and play sport games as well as be orientated on
playing the game and having fun, and formal links to community based programs
which leads to opportunities for getting a job, references, contacts to become
successful in life.
Afterschool activities is a targeted outreach specifically towards adolescents to join
clubs or organizations that allows them to incorporate a skill that they can use in
the near future. For example, painting or joining the debate team that may very well
lead to being an art major or a political science major. The policy is implemented by
an organization called Boys Girls Clubs of America. The BGCA is a community
wide gang prevention program that showed to be successful due to the ability to
match the individual
Compare And Contrast Jamestown And Plymouth
Plantation
Jamestown vs. Plymouth Plantation
The beginning of colonization was hard for the settlers in the New World. Disease,
starvation, and aggressive Native Americans were some factors that lead to the end of
several colonies in the Americas. The first successful colonies were Jamestown and
Plymouth Plantation. Jamestown and the Plymouth Plantation had several differences
like the type of government, relationships maintained with the Native American and
the way they became efficient.
In 1607, England sent colonists to the coast of Virginia so they could create a new
settlement named Jamestown. Captain John Smith led the settlement. Over the first
decade of its existence, the colony struggled simply to survive. All they wanted to do
was make money and get rich. The discovery of tobacco was a great for Jamestown
and they sold anywhere they could for great profits and it lasted through the 1620s.
An understanding happened between Powhatan and John Smith led the settlers to
establish much needed trade with Powhatan s tribe by early 1608. Even though
several fights still broke out between the two groups, they still traded with each other.
His good leadership, military experience, and determination gave discipline to the
colonists and when he left Jamestown, mortality lowered.
The pilgrims went to Plymouth in September 1620 in hopes of making a better life
for themselves and their children while being able to worship freely and in peace.
Among the group were farmers, woodworkers, shopkeepers, blacksmiths, weavers,
and servants. There were also people who went for religious reasons. They were
going to settle in Cape Cod but the water was too shallow for the ship to go in and
out with supplies and there were also too many Indian tribes. The people had the
courage, gratitude to God, and love for one another. The story of the Mayflower, the
trip across the Atlantic, to the Plymouth Colony with its tragic first winter, the treaty
with the Indian tribes and celebrated First Thanksgiving goes down the ages and
around the world.
Jamestown used military rule for the first decade as a colony. They soon moved to
an assembly that was elected by the people. Before the settlers of Plymouth Plantation
set foot on the New World in the
Theme Of The Rose That Grew From Concrete
Imagine you were attempting to succeed overcome challenges in your life. In the
two text The Rose that Grew from Concrete and Mother to Son. It explains how
life can be hard for anyone. The poem The Rose that Grew from Concrete is about
how life is not easy and the poem Mother to Son is about how life is not easy for
everyone. Both poems share the theme of there is no easy way in life, but they way
the authors developed the theme was similar and different.
First, the poem The Rose that Grew from concrete uses Figurative Language and
Symbols to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life. First, the author uses
Figurative Language to develop the theme by showing us that the Rose can walk
without having feet. It says, it learned to walk without having feet. The author uses
Figurative Language to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life because
the author is giving the rose human like features, like walking. This shows the
theme because the author described that the rose was walking without having feet.
Second of all, the author uses characterization to develop the theme by showing us
that the mother is telling her son to persevere through life because it is not easy.
She is also telling him that her life is not easy. It says in the text And boards torn
up, And places with no carpet on the floor. This proves which somehow she needed
to step over to arrive where she stands now. This shows the author used Symbols to
develop the theme of there is no easy way in life because the rose symbolises hope
and to never give up on your dreams. This is important to notice because the rose
represents his dreams. To sum up, the author revealed the theme through Figurative
Language and Symbolism which develops the theme there is no easy way in life.
The Poem Mother to Son uses Figurative Language and Characterization this
develops the theme of there is no easy way in life. To begin, the author uses
Figurative Language to develop the theme by showing us that the stairs represent the
mother s life. It says Life for me ain t been no crystal stair.Life for me ain t been no
crystal stair. This means her her life has not been easy that is what the stair stands for.
The author uses figurative
Leonardo Da Vinci Conflict
Leonardo da Vinci
The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding. (da Vinci)
This quote shows evidence that Leonardo Da Vinci loved to learn and explore.
This may explain why he chose to follow various fields, such as engineering, art, and
why people called him a jack of all trades, master of none ( Leonardo Da Vinci,
Authors) (also mentioned below). He created many paintings and sketches,
illuminated the world by creating many statues and buildings as well as believing in
the idea of human flight.
Leonardo da Vinci was a talented sculptor, painter, architect, engineer, and scientist.
He was also the illegitimate son of a Florentine (Italian) notary. This means that he
was the child of 2 people that weren t lawfully married. Leonardo s biggest conflict
was probably being interested in many fields and not being able to ... Show more

He also illuminated his personal rules in his household. These included: eat lightly
and only when hungry, chew your food well, avoid medicine and anger, be temperate
with wine, etc. Leonardo da Vinci illuminated the Renaissance painting style, for he
made it popular, as well as the human anatomy in multiple dissections, which
unfortunately , were put to a rest when the Pope and the Holy Roman Empire found
out about the dissections da Vinci conducted.
Iron rusts from disuse; stagnant water loses its purity and in cold weather becomes
frozen; even so does inaction sap the vigor of the mind. (da Vinci)
Leonardo designed and experimented many in many fields of science and art. For
example, the anatomy, engineering, and the Renaissance style of art. Leonardo da
Vinci innovated a way to follow many fields of science all at once as well as artistry.
He created many engineering designs, paintings, and architectural designs. Leonardo
illuminated the workings of the anatomy, made the Renaissance style of art popular,
and his own household
Analysis Of City Upon A Hill By John Winthrop
Audra Addison
How would the federalists view John Winthrop s City Upon a Hill model? How
would the anti federalists view it? 2.) Are the federalists or anti federalists right?
1.) John Winthrop s City Upon a Hill sermon inspired the Puritans aboard the
Arbella by warning that the eyes of the world were watching their colonization of
the New World. He also insisted that they were to set an example for all of the future
generations to come. He called upon the congregants to keep God in their hearts, lest
they fall into disaster in their attempt to colonize the new land. Winthrop wanted
Christianity to serve as a guide to building a future in North America. However,
people carried different views on this Christian model and how ... Show more content

The federalists wanted the Constitution to provide necessary framework and
boundaries so that people could pursue their life, liberty, and property without hurting
each other. They believed people should have the freedom to follow their own self
interest, and that included religion.
2.) When it comes to freedom of religion, the federalists were probably right about
separation of church and state. However, while the federalists believed in a strong
national government to create unity, the anti federalists were right when they
suggested that state and local governments should be stronger. The more power that
is given to smaller and more localized forms of government, the better the
government represents the people in that area. Diversity is lost when a single
national government is overpowering, and the population as a whole becomes
unsatisfied as the majority of people won t agree with the same ideology. This is
why, for good reason, the anti federalists were worried when the states started to lose
their identity and merge into The United States of America. Patrick Henry realized
this when he said I am no longer a Virginian, but an American.
The biggest fear of the anti federalists was that the government would grow to
trample the very rights that they were trying to preserve. As Alexander Hamilton put
it, When a government betrays the people by amassing too much power and becoming
Coronary Artery Disease Research Papers
Coronary artery disease is described by causing the arteries and vessels that provide
oxygen and nutrients to the heart to become narrowed or blocked. The accumulation
of fatty substances (lipoproteins) on the inner linings of arteries is caused by
Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Cholesterol and Triglycerides are two of
those substances (Funk Wagnalls, 2016). The bloodflow to the heartis restricted by the
blockage. A heart attack is the outcome of the blood flow to the heart being
completely cut off. The leading cause of death in the United States for both women
and men is coronary heart disease. Although more than 40,000 lives have been
claimed from this disease in the year 2000, the number of deaths from this disease has

The progress of coronary artery disease depends on the amount of cholesterol
carrying lipoproteins in the bloodstream. High density lipoprotein (HDL) and low
density lipoprotein (LDL) are considered the two chief types of lipoprotein.
Scientists believe that high levels of LDL contributes to coronary artery disease,
while on the other hand, cholesterol is removed from tissues by the help of HDL.
This is why LDL is considered to be bad cholesterol in some cases. Many factors of
hereditary determines the levels of LDL and HDL. In recent studies, indications
have risen that Chlamydia bacteria may possibly be responsible for coronary
artery disease in some cases (Milto Odle, 2015). The risk of developing coronary
artery disease has many major contributing factors, in which some of those factors
can be changed and some you have no control over. The more risk factors you have
the closer you are to developing this disease. For example, sex, age, and heredity
are a few of the major risk factors that cannot be changed. Sex heart attacks are more
likely to happen to men than women and at a younger age, but on the other hand,
women over the age of 60 develop CAD at a rate that is equal to that of

Forecasting focuses on predicting the timing and quantity of customer demand.
Capacity Planning It is essential to accurately predict what products people are

there is too much of another thing you are wasting money as a company. Location
Another very important aspect of a successful supermarket, location is important.
You must be in an area with the correct demographic of people to have success.
Most people will not be willing to drive an hour to go grocery shopping. Inventory
Management The entire supermarket must be working closely on inventory
management so the perfect amount of inventory is always on hand. As I
mentioned before, too little of a product results in loss of sales and unhappy
customers, but too much is a waste of resources. Layout of Store A great layout is
vital for success. Grocery shopping can sometimes be tedious, so it is essential that
the layout makes the process as easy as possible for a consumer. If a customer is
having trouble finding things then they might start shopping elsewhere. Also, things
that will spoil are usually in the back left of a store because that is where the
customer will finish shopping thus reducing the time the product will spend not
being refrigerated. Scheduling A great supermarket will have flawless scheduling of
their employees and of deliveries. They will always have fresh products and the right

Circadian Rhythms
Increasing evidence suggests that there is highly regulated relationship between
immune function, sleep, and circadian rhythms. Understanding this complex
relationship is clinically relevant because desynchronization of circadian rhythms and
disruptions in sleep are associated with higher likelihood of disease. It has been
demonstrated that there is a bidirectional flux of circadian information between the
immune and neuroendocrine system (Mavroudis, Scheff, Calvano, Androulakis,
2012). The interactions between these two systems work in concert to optimize
immune responses that are vital in down regulating diseases. Outside factors, such as
shift work, chronic stress, and inherited diseases can disrupt these interactions. The

Newtown creek is a 3.8 mile waterway located on the border of Brooklyn and
Queens in New York City and was once a busy center for industrial activity. More
than 50 factories were located along its banks, including oil refineries,
petrochemical plants, sawmills, and lumber and coal yards. The Creek was also the
site of one of the largest oil spill in the U.S. (EPA, 2007). As a consequence, the soil
surrounding the area became polluted with toxic heavy metals and polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and was declared a Superfund site. The Superfund

Bioremediators need to be able to grow in order to remediate the soil of pollutants.
The purpose of this research is to determine whether the presence of Stropharia rugoso
annulata in the soil will support and accelerate the growth of ryegrass in a mutualistic
symbiotic relationship. If the growth of the ryegrass is accelerated and supported, the
combination of the two bioremediators could potentially accelerate the degradation of
PAHs in the soil. Techniques such as soil washing, soil flushing, vitrification, etc.,
exist to remediate contaminated soil. Although, these techniques are effective, they
also disturb the natural environment to some degree. Bioremediation is often
accomplished in situ resulting in minimal environmental disturbance. This study is
being performed because healthy soil is a limited resource that needs to be preserved
and replenished. The state of soil can impact the health of humans, animals, and
ecosystems, therefore, it s important to be able to monitor and control the pollutants in
Installing Bamboo Flooring Essay
Usually there are no instructions in the box on installing bamboo flooring, but it is
done just like ordinary hardwood flooring. The proper floor preparation is essential
before any installation. It is important that all sub flooring be flat with a tolerance
of no more than one half inch over a twelve foot span. If the sub floor is made of
wood, staples are better to use than flooringcleats. Staples hold better and do not
squeak when stepped upon. If you decide to use a glue down installation, use the
adhesive that is specified by the manufacturer. Be sure to avoid water based
adhesives at all costs.

The oil urethane wood finish supplies a highly durable coating that allows the
beauty of the wood to shine through while minimizing discoloration due to age. A
lambs wool applicator is required for even coating, and one gallon can cover over 600
square feet. The water based urethane finish can be used only on previously sealed
surfaces. The crystal clear coating shows off the natural wood beauty, and it dries
very fast. No mixing is required, and it is very economical to use. One gallon will
cover up to 1000 square feet.

Polyurethane hardwood floor finishes are blends of synthetic resins that protect the
surface of wood. They are moisture resistant and available in high gloss and semi
gloss as well as satin and matte. The finish is recommended for kitchens where
splashing water may be a problem. The polyurethane finish is the most common and
it turns a lovely shade of amber as it ages. Do not shake the polyurethane container
because air bubbles will appear in the final finish. Instead, stir the container to avoid
any mishaps. The coating should be applied with a brush or roller going with the
grain to avoid marking the finish.

The types of hardwood floor finishes determine the kind of maintenance you must
use to keep the floor new looking. Most of the time all you have to do is sweep the
floor with a broom or dust mop, and clean up spills as soon as they

  • 1. Descriptive Essays Ideas Crafting an essay on the subject of "Descriptive Essays Ideas" can be a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the demand for creativity and originality but also in the need for a deep understanding of the chosen topic. Generating unique and captivating ideas that go beyond the ordinary can be a daunting task, as it requires a keen observational skill and the ability to convey those observations in a vivid and engaging manner. Moreover, the challenge extends to the selection of the right words and the construction of sentences that evoke a sensory experience for the reader. It's not just about describing something; it's about painting a picture with words, making the reader feel as though they are immersed in the scene or concept being presented. The process of brainstorming and refining ideas to create a well-structured essay can be time- consuming. It demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to revising and polishing the writing until it achieves the desired level of clarity and expressiveness. In navigating through this intricate process, writers often find themselves grappling with the balance between providing enough detail to create a vivid image and avoiding overwhelming the reader with an excessive amount of information. Despite these challenges, mastering the art of descriptive essays can be immensely rewarding. It not only hones one's writing skills but also enhances the ability to perceive and articulate the nuances of the world around us. • 3. Effects Of Credit Risk On Financial Institutions A common saying tied to many new endeavors, Without risk, there is no reward . Financial institutions are no exception to this rule. The major risks that all financial institutions are exposed to are credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, market risk, business risk, reputational risk, systemic risk, and moral hazard (Perez, 2014). Of these top eight scenarios, credit, market, and operational risks are the three major risk factors that Jeanne D Arc is focused on mitigating during and following the business service project. Credit risk indicates a decline in the credit assets values before default that arises from the deterioration in a financial institution s portfolio quality. Credit risk can also represent the volatility the loss in the credit asset s value and the loss in the current and future earnings from the credit (Perez, 2014). To prepare and accommodate inevitable losses stemming from our business credit card Jeanne D Arc has budgeted for a loan loss reserve to help protect the financial integrity and assets of the credit union. Operational risk occurs in all day to day activities in banking. As the credit union is looking to attract a new type of member, this risk is can be caused by inadequate internal processes, people, systems, and external events. Some examples of operational risk include people risk, hacking of the core processing system, errors in information processing, data transmission, data retrieval, and inaccuracy of outputs (Perez, 2014).

With alcohol sales increasing, especially craft beer sales, the company gains an advantage on the competition by selling local craft beers. Matthias heart stopped with the icy glare Cluny gave him. This lasted only a second before Matthias leaped forward with his bellowing war cry, REDWALLLLL! . Clearly this quotation shows how Good must always face Evil at some point even though the odds do not seem to be in your favor. Evil can be defeated through the strength and courage of Good. One of the best parts of this book is that it has great descriptions of scenery and the abbey s grand feasts. Between all the fighting and action it has a nice contrast with the details of the scenery. This quotation shows this, Dawn arrived as if it were not aware of the previous night s events. • 6. The War Of Versailles Between The Allies And Germany At the beginning of 1919 all eyes were turned towards Paris. The city was to become the main focal point for the world s population. This was where the peace talks were to be held to draw a close to the First World War, the war to end all wars. World leaders from 32 countries converged on Paris armed with the demands for their countries reparation. The Big Three participants of the peace talks wanted more than just reparation. For six months the world s most powerful and influential men met every day arguing, then discussing, then arguing again. Deals were made, various treaties drawn up and new countries and organisations were created, the decisions made between January and June 1919 were the most important. This demonstration of power, debate and decision making had never been seen before nor would it be seen ever again. The treaty was signed at the Palace of Versailles between the Allies and Germany. The three most important politicians there were David Lloyd George representing Great Britain, Georges Clemenceau for France and Woodrow Wilson, president of the United States of America. While every journey is not the same, each of the pilgrimages has a lesson that can be learned. Two of the main pilgrimages that we explored were, Homer s Odyssey, and Dante s Inferno, both of which have a strong lesson about fate, but explore the topic in very different ways. In Homer s Odyssey the story starts ten years after the Trojan War, where we find Odysseuswho is the last Greek hero to not return to Ithaca. The story starts in the middle of Odysseus journey home. He finds himself imprisoned by Calypso, a goddess, who wants to marry Odysseus. There is then a meeting of the gods, without Calypso of course, where Athena s voiced her support in Odysseus making it home. The gods agree with Athena and Hermes delivers the news to Calypso, that she must let Odysseus return to Ithaca. From the most famous statue of Little Dancer Fourteen Years Old who stands prominently defined in our mind s eyes or the swirling masses of color and form that showed visions of Parisian Operas in the 1800s like that seen in the painting Dancers in the Wings, Degas work is indelibly linked to the world of these petite dancers. Why did he focus so highly on the youth of the Parisian ballets, and in what ways does this convey and reveal the attitude of Degas towards his subjects but also his approaches to art? By examining the world of these ballerinas, we can dissect the juxtaposing values of pain and beauty found in their lives, as well as the underlying voyeuristic and sexually charged undertones of Degas own perspective. Some possible way to rectify this is to pass new laws that can punish the offenders from small fines or jail time; to even large sentencing. This is the first time we see the government fight back against narcotics; however, the term War on Drugs hadn t been coined yet; the term War on Drugs won t be heard of until 1970, but it is best defined as the government s initiative to prevent and eradicate drug use. Who cares if the government tries to eradicate drug use in our nation? Well for starters the drug cartel and gangs, people living in poverty, and families and society as a whole. These all matter because it directly affects us and our interaction with other people. Drugs negatively impact user s health, physical abilities, wealth, and social status. Computer viruses, malware, identity theft, online predators, cyber bullying, phishing, and hacking (black hat and white hat) are only a few problems going on online, yet they cause so many problems and threats. To begin with, computer viruses are types of malicious software programs that replicate themselves by changing other computer programs and inserting their own code. This all happens when they get executed. This takes place when computers become infected with the virus, there are many reasons to why computers can become infected. Accepting without reading is by far the most common way a computer can become infected. This happens when a user just automatically accepts what they see on their screen without reading the prompt before continuing. For example, while on the internet an advertisement or a window may appear that says your computer is infected, without completely understanding what you re getting, you accept the prompt anyways. Another reason to why your computer may become infected is by downloading any infected software. When downloading software such as programs, utilities, games, updates, demos, etc. always make sure you are downloading this software from reliable sources. Always read all prompts about what the program is installing onto your computer. Opening e mail attachments can cause your

Influenza As An Influenza Virus INTRODUCTION:Influenza, more commonly known as the flu , is a chameleon like infectious disease, that presents itself with varying characteristics from year to year, due to the wavering identity of the strain. Like HIV, influenza is an RNA virus, constantly changing its appearance and adept at eluding recognition by the human immune system (Schneider, 2014). From its inception of 1918, influenzaclaims an average of 250,000 to 500,000 people worldwide, annually. Little is known of the virus s origin however; recent studies examined pathology specimens belonging to deceased soldiers of 1918, revealing similarities with that of the avian flu virus (Schneider, 2014). Evidence has correlated a pattern of influenza strain elements, accompanied by consistent transmutation, that has established a paralleled relationship between that of animal reservoirs and Asia. It is believed that global transmission of the virus is carried via birds that consume food from the same sources that of pigs, consisting of contaminated feed and waterfowl. Human and animal influenza viruses incubate in a pig s digestive system, forming new genetic combinations (Schneider, 2014). Asia occupies cohabitation of the two species that yield fertile breeding grounds for a virus to manifest, while posing a significant threat and concern to the heavily populated areas within close proximity. There are also some social media platforms used in educational institutions. For example, some middle and high school teachers use Edmodo an online website designed to resemble a social media profile as a teaching tool. These sites have the benefit of reinforcing skills in English, written expression, and creativity (O Keeffe 801). Popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter allow students to meet and collaborate ideas for school assignments (O Keeffe 801). Even though too much social media exposure can have a negative effect on a child s growing identity, there are a few apps that provide options that allow children to approach identity formation more thoughtfully (Parry). While extensive use of social media can isolate children and adolescents from their societies, Parry states that there are online communities that provide children and teens with self disclosure and a feeling of belonging. Social media also serves as a good source of news information. It allows the youth to stay tuned into the things that are going on in the world around them, both online and

Cesare expressed that the punishment should fit the crime and that adjudication and punishment should be both swift and certain . He advocated for due process on the implication of innocence until proven guilty and condemned torture on the same pretense as torturous punishment towards self incrimination implies guilt prior to a guilty verdict by a judicial body. His principles influenced classic criminology in the principles of punishment, due process, rationality, and human rights. The Bill of Rights in the US constitution has several concepts influenced, some believe, by his writings. He uses this statement to refer to the methods through which modern slaveholders disguise their activities. According to Bales, modern slaveholders take advantage of vulnerable groups of people in their hunt for slaves. They do not consider color, religion or ethnicity while taking people into slavery (10). Modern slaves Modern slavery is the absolute control over another person s rights without necessarily having the legal rights to own that person. Their culture supports the selling of women, as they do not consider them important in society. Most of the times, parents sell their daughters to help improve on their financial status. According to Bales, most of them sell their daughters with the purpose of buying television sets. In this business, the girls have no control over their lives. The parents were slaves; therefore, their children could not avoid slavery. They still work for their parents masters. Many of their masters take advantage of the teachings of the Kuran to continue holding slaves. On the other hand, the slaves do not ask for payment because they fear going against the teachings of the Kuran (Bales 80). The aim of Taylorism is to maixmise productivity and minimise waste of resources using specialisation of labour. There are three main components of Taylorism and it will be discussed in detail in the later paragraphs. Firstly, according to Rose, M. (1978), Taylor believes that the root of inefficiency is the slacking and soldiering of workers. And irrational and incompetent of managers. He further explained the idea of inefficacy by stating managers are incompetent is because of the growth in scale and technical complexity of industry . In order to dealt with the slackness of worker, the worker should be closely control and supervise by inspector. This ensures that no one will shirk during work and the chance of worker making mistakes are minimized. Hence worker will produce the maximum effort which leads to increase in productivity. Taylorism also suggested the use of hierarchy organization structure which means separating the decision maker, usually the managers and the people who receive orders from the managers and implement it. This is because he believes that people with no management skills will not be able to make a right decision and hence may leads to a waste of resources. Besides supervision, Taylor asserted that managers should apply their professional knowledge on managing their worker and plan the work. For example, calculating the

This technique is useful in collecting information regarding behavior that amounts to successful or unsuccessful in a performance (Peterson, Jeanneret, 2007). The procedures utilized in the critical incident techniqueallows for the similarities, differences and patterns of behaviors to be analyzed. Although it makes up a portion of a company s total available capital, mezzanine financing is critical to growing companies and in succession planning in recent years. The gap in funding between senior debt and equity is common for the following reasons: 1) accounts receivable, inventories and fixed assets are being discounted at greater rates than in the past for fear that their values will not be realized in the future; 2) many balance sheets now contain significant intangible assets, and, 3) as a result of defaults and regulatory pressure, banks have placed ceilings on the amount of total debt a company can obtain. I have personal experience, as a employee of one of the largest video game retailers, GameStop, in viewing how various video games impact communication between parents and their children. There are various measures that help regulate the audience that play these types of video games. One of these measures are the use of the ESRB rating system (Entertainment Software Rating Board), which is a system that rates games for its content to help consumers understand the content for games and its appropriateness for those who will be playing those games. This system uses a M rating, for mature games, intended for an audience of those who are 17 or older. These games receive a rating of mature due to their violence, language, and sometimes, sexual content. The reason I chose this topic is its recent controversy with the video game, Grand Theft Auto V. This game is under recent scrutiny because of the ability to enact various crimes such as murder, torture, grand theft auto, and the solicitation of prostitutes. Although this is an extreme example of a violent video game, it serves as a good base of understanding as far as what is available to the public. The current question that has risen from this game is, do violent video games evoke violent tendencies in kids? I would argue no, this is not the cause for violent tendencies in kids. Disease, starvation, and aggressive Native Americans were some factors that lead to the end of several colonies in the Americas. The first successful colonies were Jamestown and Plymouth Plantation. Jamestown and the Plymouth Plantation had several differences like the type of government, relationships maintained with the Native American and the way they became efficient. In 1607, England sent colonists to the coast of Virginia so they could create a new settlement named Jamestown. Captain John Smith led the settlement. Over the first decade of its existence, the colony struggled simply to survive. All they wanted to do was make money and get rich. The discovery of tobacco was a great for Jamestown and they sold anywhere they could for great profits and it lasted through the 1620s. An understanding happened between Powhatan and John Smith led the settlers to establish much needed trade with Powhatan s tribe by early 1608. Even though several fights still broke out between the two groups, they still traded with each other. His good leadership, military experience, and determination gave discipline to the colonists and when he left Jamestown, mortality lowered. The pilgrims went to Plymouth in September 1620 in hopes of making a better life for themselves and their children while being able to worship freely and in peace. Among the group were farmers, woodworkers, shopkeepers, blacksmiths, weavers, and servants. There were also people who went for religious reasons. They were going to settle in Cape Cod but the water was too shallow for the ship to go in and out with supplies and there were also too many Indian tribes. It explains how life can be hard for anyone. The poem The Rose that Grew from Concrete is about how life is not easy and the poem Mother to Son is about how life is not easy for everyone. Both poems share the theme of there is no easy way in life, but they way the authors developed the theme was similar and different. First, the poem The Rose that Grew from concrete uses Figurative Language and Symbols to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life. First, the author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme by showing us that the Rose can walk without having feet. It says, it learned to walk without having feet. The author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life because the author is giving the rose human like features, like walking. This shows the theme because the author described that the rose was walking without having feet. Second of all, the author uses characterization to develop the theme by showing us that the mother is telling her son to persevere through life because it is not easy. She is also telling him that her life is not easy. It says in the text And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the floor. This proves which somehow she needed to step over to arrive where she stands now. This shows the author used Symbols to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life because the rose symbolises hope and to never give up on your dreams. This is important to notice because the rose represents his dreams. To sum up, the author revealed the theme through Figurative Language and Symbolism which develops the theme there is no easy way in life. This may explain why he chose to follow various fields, such as engineering, art, and why people called him a jack of all trades, master of none ( Leonardo Da Vinci, Authors) (also mentioned below). He created many paintings and sketches, illuminated the world by creating many statues and buildings as well as believing in the idea of human flight. Leonardo da Vinci was a talented sculptor, painter, architect, engineer, and scientist. He was also the illegitimate son of a Florentine (Italian) notary. • 46. Analysis Of City Upon A Hill By John Winthrop Audra Addison How would the federalists view John Winthrop s City Upon a Hill model? How would the anti federalists view it? 2.) Are the federalists or anti federalists right? 1.) John Winthrop s City Upon a Hill sermon inspired the Puritans aboard the Arbella by warning that the eyes of the world were watching their colonization of the New World. He also insisted that they were to set an example for all of the future generations to come. He called upon the congregants to keep God in their hearts, lest they fall into disaster in their attempt to colonize the new land. Winthrop wanted Christianity to serve as a guide to building a future in North America. However, people carried different views on this Christian model and how ... The federalists wanted the Constitution to provide necessary framework and boundaries so that people could pursue their life, liberty, and property without hurting each other. They believed people should have the freedom to follow their own self interest, and that included religion. 2.) When it comes to freedom of religion, the federalists were probably right about separation of church and state. However, while the federalists believed in a strong national government to create unity, the anti federalists were right when they suggested that state and local governments should be stronger. The more power that is given to smaller and more localized forms of government, the better the government represents the people in that area. Diversity is lost when a single national government is overpowering, and the population as a whole becomes unsatisfied as the majority of people won t agree with the same ideology. This is why, for good reason, the anti federalists were worried when the states started to lose their identity and merge into The United States of America. Patrick Henry realized this when he said I am no longer a Virginian, but an American. The biggest fear of the anti federalists was that the government would grow to trample the very rights that they were trying to preserve. As Alexander Hamilton put it, When a government betrays the people by amassing too much power and becoming
  • 47. Coronary Artery Disease Research Papers Coronary artery disease is described by causing the arteries and vessels that provide oxygen and nutrients to the heart to become narrowed or blocked. The accumulation of fatty substances (lipoproteins) on the inner linings of arteries is caused by Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Cholesterol and Triglycerides are two of those substances (Funk Wagnalls, 2016). The bloodflow to the heartis restricted by the blockage. A heart attack is the outcome of the blood flow to the heart being completely cut off. The leading cause of death in the United States for both women and men is coronary heart disease. The progress of coronary artery disease depends on the amount of cholesterol carrying lipoproteins in the bloodstream. High density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) are considered the two chief types of lipoprotein. Scientists believe that high levels of LDL contributes to coronary artery disease, while on the other hand, cholesterol is removed from tissues by the help of HDL. This is why LDL is considered to be bad cholesterol in some cases. Many factors of hereditary determines the levels of LDL and HDL. In recent studies, indications have risen that Chlamydia bacteria may possibly be responsible for coronary artery disease in some cases (Milto Odle, 2015). The risk of developing coronary artery disease has many major contributing factors, in which some of those factors can be changed and some you have no control over. The more risk factors you have the closer you are to developing this disease. For example, sex, age, and heredity are a few of the major risk factors that cannot be changed. Sex heart attacks are more likely to happen to men than women and at a younger age, but on the other hand, women over the age of 60 develop CAD at a rate that is equal to that of

Understanding this complex relationship is clinically relevant because desynchronization of circadian rhythms and disruptions in sleep are associated with higher likelihood of disease. It has been demonstrated that there is a bidirectional flux of circadian information between the immune and neuroendocrine system (Mavroudis, Scheff, Calvano, Androulakis, 2012). The interactions between these two systems work in concert to optimize immune responses that are vital in down regulating diseases.
