The Technology And Social Trends
When it comes to investing, millennials have a different approach than their parents. Young
investors, who have been through two market crashes, have developed skepticism and mistrust
towards banks and traditional advisory services. Many millennials prefer to save and forgo
investing all together. For those willing to test the market, technology and social trends play a
significant impact on their decision making. With millennials now outnumbering baby boomers in
the U.S., many traditional financial servicesstrive to connect with the younger generation. This
comes on the heels of a noticeable upward trend in financial technology and online wealth
management. Through the use of technology, robo advisors have built a successful foundation for
attracting young investors.
Technology
Given their love of technology, it comes as no surprise that millennials are gravitating towards
financial technology. Young investors are accustomed to using technology for every aspect of their
lives and investing is no different. Their relationship with technology makes digital asset
management more appealing. Young adults are more inclined to make choices via a smartphone
over in person interactions. Not only do millennials prefer accessible apps and web based
platforms, but automation has played a major factor in the success of robo advisors. Millennials are
accustomed to subscribing to all their services electronically. To them, investing is another service
that should be automated. Compared

Key Transitions In College
The first year of school at Clark Atlanta was a brand new and exciting journey for several
students. Students will combat new experiences in their initial year of college; it can even go
together with a lot of bumps along the Semester As a student I had to realize how to balance my
new life as a university student and the key transitions. My first semester biggest problem was
transitioning and adapting to the new surroundings, attempting to create new friends and the
problems adapting to collegework. Adjusting to a new environment and surroundings that you re
not used to can be too much for some students to adjust too. You have to prepare yourself to get
ready for the new living arrangements and having a new roommate you do not

The Retail Industry Is Highly Competitive, With Few Barriers
The retail industry is highly competitive, with few barriers to entry. Each Company competes with
many other local, regional and national retailers for customers, associates, locations, merchandise,
services and other important aspects of the Company s business. Those competitors include other
department stores, discounters, home furnishing stores, specialty retailers, wholesale clubs, direct
to consumer businesses and other forms of retail commerce. Some competitors are larger than
JCPenney, have greater financial resources available to them, and, as a result, may be able to devote
greater resources to sourcing, promoting and selling their products. There are many factors that

There will be several more in 2018. The merchandise is attractive and offered at very cheap
prices. The concept is extremely appealing to young people on a tight budget. Primark will
present a competitive challenge for every promotional retailer selling apparel, fashion jewelry,
and various seasonal and home novelties. Aldi s will be expanding with 400 stores in the
United States to keep up on pressure price. It is a privately held German retailer, known for
cheap prices on private brand food products, being sold in rudimentary stores, has recently
included inexpensive fashion to its availability. This will be a competitive factor for low priced
retailers. Nordstrom s Rack, which has 167 stories at the end of this year, will add an additional
25 stores in 2017. This is certainly a sign that fashion customers are continuing to endorse that
company s low priced effort. They scoop up fashion merchandise, especially shoes, at very
discounted prices. Neiman Marcus is now expanding their Last Call stores to compete more
aggressively with The Rack. Macy s is constantly drumming up consumer interest with another sale

value in department stores. There were similar short duration sale events and other promotional

A Comparison Of Alone Together By Arthur Schwartz And...
This piece is a jazz standard that was composed by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz. Schwartz
was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 25, 1900 and died on September 3, 1984. He
began playing piano and harmonica at a very young age and also wrote silent films at the age of
fourteen. Dietz was born on September 8,1896 and died on July 30, 1983. He was a publicist
and lyrists. Him and Schwartz first started working together when they teamed up for a
Broadway show in 1929. They composed Alone Together in 1932 for the Broadway musical
Flying Colors (Schwartz composing the music and Dietz the lyrics). This particular piece is
considered a ballad, meaning that the tune tells a story. Ballads come from the French chanson
and they are often made up of thirteen lines with an ABABBCBC form. It was originally used for
dance tunes, but in the nineteenth century it was used for slow tunes. The actual form for Alone
Together is AABA. The significant thing about the first two A sections, is that it is fourteen bars
long which is very uncommon when it comes to American song writing. In common song
writing, each A section is only eight bars long. The bridge of the tune also known as the B
section is quite normal. It is the standard eight bar length which leads to the last eight bars of the
third A section. The tune is written in key of D minor, but, instead of playing a D minor in the
thirteenth measure of the last A section, Schwartz decides to play a D major which is called a

Dark Inside Trust Quotes
The Significance of Trust
Trust is a valuable asset in which many people rely on everyday. Once trust is broken, it becomes
difficult to move forward in life and trust new people.Individuals must be cautious in the ways trust
will affect their life. In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, the main characters often
contemplate if there are other people going through the same traumatising moments as they are, and
whether they would be considered trustworthy. These characters go through many times of struggle,
confusion, and bravery in order to find out whether the path they travel on will lead them to victory,
or traps they will regret falling into. Mason s risky encounter with Twiggy, Aries questionable
friendship with Daniel, and Clementine s great trust in her mother are all ways in which involve the
difficulty of trust. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a reliable and trustworthy friend. Had you fooled, didn t I?... I always liked a show. Better than
simply putting a bullet in your brain. I needed to see if I could convince you first (Roberts 171).
This quote specifically proves that Twiggy betrayed Mason s trust by tricking him into thinking
he was a good man, while also violently cracking a glass mug over Mason s head. We ll find you.
You ll never never hide long enough. We ll find you and kill each and every last one of you. All

window after experiencing Twiggy s terrifying threats, which makes Mason contemplate whether
meeting new people would be a smart move, or just another mistake similar to the one he makes
with Twiggy. After all, Mason s terrifying encounter with twiggy changed his perspective on trust,
and made him realize that trust does not come easy, especially in the circumstance of

When Roger is almost murdered for being someone he is not, he must go cross country to find

name of Eve played by Eva Marie Saint (Exodus, 1960) as well as a notorious villain played by
James Mason (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, 1954) who goes by the name Phillip Vandamm.
The film follows a three act structure, opening with viewers meeting Roger. Not far into the

Many seem to think that Born in the U.S.A. is an extremely patriotic song in which Springsteen
is almost proclaiming how proud he is to be an American but this is far from reality. The song
actually deals with the Vietnam War and the suffering that occurs when veterans come back
home. One of Springsteen s verse makes this scene quite a real one for us as listeners, Come back
home to the refinery/ Hiring man said son if it was up to me/ Went down to see my V.A. man/ He
said son, don t you understand (Springsteen). This particular verse deals with the struggle that many
veterans had when they came back home and began looking for jobs.
Vietnam was unlike any other war America had been a part of before. First and foremost, most
people consider the war a loss for America. The main objective of the war was to stop the spread of
Communism to South Vietnam. American troops were able to accomplish this task but as soon as
they were pulled out and sent home, the North invaded the South and took over. In the end
Communism had spread to South Vietnam. Returning troops are generally welcomed home like
the heros that they are. Take World War 2 for example, the troops coming home for combat were
welcomed with parades all across the country, but not after Vietnam (COL. Jack Jacobs, U.S.

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system serves
an important purpose in where we live or work. Whether we notice it or not it is providing us with
clean air to inhale. Not only does the HVACsystem provide us with fresh air, it also: maintains the
flow of air to make sure certain areas are contamination free, eliminates contaminates before it is
released to the atmosphere, protects equipment, and keeps us in a comfortable state.
Air Flow Control Flow control is an important aspect of a ventilation system. The airflow scheme
that is used allows separation between contaminated areas from non contaminated area. The way
that airflow is controlled is by using high and low pressure areas. Since air moves from a high
pressure to a low pressure it is important to keep a contaminated area at a lower pressure. When a
contaminated area is set to a negative pressure it prevents air from the contaminated area from
flowing into non contaminated area. The pressure of the contaminated area inside the building must
always be lower than the pressure outside the building. When the pressure inside the contaminated
area is lower than the pressure outside the building it helps prevent toxic air from being leaked out
and released to the atmosphere. Once the leaking of air inside the building is prevented the air can

Determination of an Unknown Amino Acid from Titration
Determination of An Unknown Amino Acid From Titration
Abstract
Experiment 11 used a titration curve to determine the identity of an unknown amino acid. The
initial pH of the solution was 1.96, and the pKa s found experimentally were 2.0, 4.0, and 9.85.
The accepted pKa values were found to be 2.10, 4.07, and 9.47. The molecular weight was
calculated to be
176.3 while the accepted value was found to be 183.5. The identity of the unknown amino acid was
established to be glutamic acid, hydrochloride.
Introduction
Amino acids are simple monomers which are strung together to form polymers
(also called proteins). These monomers are characterized by the general structure shown in figure 1.

However, it is much more difficult to remove the second proton than the first. This is due to the fact
that it is more difficult to remove a proton from a anion. Furthermore, the more negative the anion,
the more difficult to remove the proton.
The trapezoidal method can be employed to find the equivalence points as shown if figure 6. The
volume of titrant between two equivalence points is helpful in the determination of the molecular
weight of the amino acid.
Fig. 6
The purpose of experiment 11 is to determine the identity of an unknown amino acid by analyzing a
titration curve. The experiment should lend the idea that the following may be directly or indirectly
deduced from the curve the equivalence and half equivalence points, pKa values, the molecular
weight and the identity of the unknown amino acid.
Experimental
The pH meter was calibrated and 1.631 grams (.0089 moles) of the unknown amino acid was
weighed and placed in a 250 mL volumetric flask. About 100 mL of distilled water was added to
dissolve the solid. The flask was gently swirled and inverted to insure a complete dissolution of the
solid. The solution was diluted with distilled water to the volume mark on the flask. Then, one
buret was filled with 0.100 M HCl stock solution and another buret was filled with
0.100 M NaOH. A pipet was used to add 25.00 mL of the unknown amino acid solution to a 100 mL
beaker. The solution s initial pH was established to be
1.96 by the pH

Kabuki Greek Culture
In 1603, the establishment of the Tokugawa shogunate allowed Japan to stay at peace until 1868
(Theatre histories 203). The return of peace allowed for a new culture to emerge that was the
opposite of samurai elegance and control; there was a new form of entertainment called Kabuki.
These types of performers reversed genderroles and mocked samurai rulers, which caused the
samurai, traders and workers in wealthy towns to disapprove of these performers. Even though they
were annoyed at these performances, it confirmed what they took to be their innate superiority to
the rowdy culture of the cities (203). The success of these performances can be explained by the
cultural hierarchy theory. The cultural hierarchy is the idea that cultures create a divide to depict
the ethical differences. There is a high status... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

emerged, samurai, traders and workers in wealthy towns disapproved of these types of
performances, but Ieyasu and his warriors decided to allow them because of how they believed
the ban of these performances would only lead to more trouble. The Samurai and wealthy traders
and workers thought very poorly of the low class people like merchants, so they believed it was
better they were being distracted by entertainment because that way they are not turning to serious
crime. However, the Samurai rulers thought that these performances should be regulated, so
soldiers and young men of their class would not be corrupted by watching these

Mark Twain Research Paper
Mark Twain is an American author who has shaped the American literature world in a way no
other author has. Twain grew up in Hannibal Missouri, he used his childhood memories to write
his novels (Pfluger 6). Twain s writing was based off of events that happened to him throughout his
boyhood, using friends and family as models for his characters (Pfluger 6). His writing has
influenced young adult fiction and is used as a template to modern young adult novels (Greebblatt).

Pros And Cons Of Year-Round Schooling
Is Year Round Schooling as Bad as it Seems? When a person first mentions the idea of year round
schooling, their comment is usually met with a look of dread. The image of year round schooling
is that students must go to school every day throughout the entire year with no breaks. This is an
untrue image. Students are given frequent breaks throughout the schoolyear to make up for the
shorter summer break. It was first used in the 1800s, which goes against many people s thoughts
that it is a new alternative schooling proposal (Research). At that time year round schooling was
used in industrial cities to teach English to children of immigrants. By the early 1900s, year round
schooling was used as a method to reduce overcrowding, underfunding,... Show more content on

Year round schooling could make those vacations more difficult. Even though there is a shorter
summer break using year round schooling, there is still enough time for families to go on a long
summer vacation. In fact, because of the way a balanced calendar is set up, there are different
opportunities for vacations. In year round schooling there are multiple breaks after each quarter.
These can allow families to go on vacation on seasons other than summer, and have more frequent,
smaller breaks during the year (Year round). The cost for plane tickets and some other expenses of
a vacation could be reduced. This could occur because if going on vacation during an offseason,
plane tickets are generally less expensive (Year round). With standard schooling there are times
when families want to go on vacation. The problem is that there either is not a break that the family
could go during, or the break is not long enough for the vacation the family wants (Flanagan). This
causes the student to miss school, and with that tests, lessons, and homework. It can be hard for
students to get caught up and fully understand the information that they missed during their time
off of school (Flanagan). The frequent break would help with this and make planning vacations
more easy. Summer vacationing seems difficult with year round schooling, but there are actually

My Favorite Types Of Poetry
If you have ever read a book or listened to music, you have probably experienced poetry. Poetry is a
literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use
of distinctive style and rhythm. There are many types of poetry and each has its own effect on the
words. There are over fifty types of poetry. Poetry is categorized by the number of lines in the
poem, the words in the poem, whether it rhymes or not, and what it is about. Some types of
poetry examples include haiku, free verse, sonnets, and name poems, although there are many
more types as well (Oxford living dictionaries ).People usually use the types of poetry they like
best. I will tell you a little bit about a few types of poetry that are my favorite.
Out of all the types of poetry, my most favorite type is a haiku. Haikus are poems consisting of
three lines. The first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line
has five syllables. Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry (Kidzone Poetry). Haikus are
usually used as a focus on nature. Traditionally, they are in the present tense and focused on
associations between images. Being so short, a haiku is open about its purpose. This type of poem
may be short, but used in the correct way, it can be very powerful to get a message across.

The second type of poetry I most favor is a sonnet. Sonnets are longer poems that consist of
fourteen lines. When writing a sonnet, you will

The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Critical Analysis: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde In the novel, The Strange Case
of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Robert Louis Stevenson demonstrates the battle between good and evil
that occurs within the individual. The novel is essentially an allegory for the internal struggle
between these two sides of the human personality. The story is centered around a chemist named
Henry Jekyll, who composes a concoction that allows him to shift between his typical, well
mannered self and an alternate evil identity that allows him to give into his sinful pleasures. In
their critiques on the novel, Joyce Carol Oates and Henry James discuss Stevenson s presentation
of good vs. evil, as well as the significance of his message on the subject.... Show more content on

James states that it is not so much the profundity of the idea which strikes [him] so much as the
art of the presentation the extremely successful form. James s praise of Stevenson s writing is
warranted. Though the struggle between good and evil is not so much an original idea,
Stevenson s portrayal of this age old conflict is what captivates the reader. James goes on to state
that in the novel there is genuine feeling for the perpetual moral question, a fresh sense of the
difficulty of being good and the brutishness of being bad, but what there is above all is a singular
ability in holding the interest. Stevenson s story is an intriguing one that keeps the reader uncertain
until the very end. The novel portrays both sides of man s nature in a way that highlights the
features of both good and evil by offering perspective on the subject from the same man in both
forms. Jekyll himself states that he was no more [himself] when [he] laid aside restraint and
plunged in shame, than when [he] labored...at the furtherance of knowledge or the relief of sorrow
and suffering (Stevenson 61). It is this open honesty from the main character at the end of the novel
that not only enthralls the reader, but also offers fresh insight into the human condition in a unique

Payment Card Systems Were Breached
On September 8th, 2014, Home Depot released a statement indicating that its payment card
systems were breached. An investigation had started on September 2nd but they were still
trying to discover the actual scope and impact of the breach. Home Depot was one of the many
victims to a retail data breach in 2014. The unfortunate thing is the way the attacker s infiltrated
the POS networks and how the attackers were able to steal the payment card data, were the same
methods used in the Target data breach. By ignoring the warnings created from the breach at
Target, Home Depot allowed the attackers to use similar methods that could have been easily
defended. Through the use of a third party vendor s logon credentials, the attackers were able to
gain access. Then they exploited a zero day vulnerability in Windows, which allowed them to
pivot from the vendor specific environment to the Home Depot corporate environment. Since
both networks were linked, this was very easy. Once they were in the Home Depot network,
they were able install memory scraping malware on over 7,500 self checkout POS terminals.
They just put out an update to all the POS machines. Just like any IT shop would do. This
malware was able to grab 56 million credit and debit cards. The malware was also able to capture
53 million email addresses. The stolen payment cards were used to put up for sale and bought by
carders. The stolen email addresses were helpful in putting together large phishing campaigns.

night, but now that Tucker was camped out at their table Denny was going to have no chance. *
Next morning Denny was up early. He considered it a miracle he hadn t gotten drunk last night,
especially being at The Wild Bull, but he wasn t so sure he d be able to accomplish the same feat
today. And what had happened last night was adding to his stress because he d been unable to
learn from Brig, who talked to Rufus Tucker all night, what he knew about the night Rashida was
killed. And who was this Rufus Tucker character anyway? He was probably one of Brig s war
buddies, but he was older and one hell of a loudmouth. Whatever. Denny showered, shaved and

Let s make this official. Do you want to retain me as your attorney? He shrugged. Just say yes.
Yes. Do you have a dollar? Denny reached for his wallet. Uh huh. She nodded. Give it to me. He
did. Now sign this. She handed him a piece of paper and a pen. He signed and handed it back.
Okay, now that you ve requested I be your attorney and you ve paid a retainer and signed a
contract we have established attorney client privilege, and that means that from now on
anything you tell me is between just you and me. No police officer or lawyer or judge can force
either of us to reveal any of it. Do you understand? I think so, yes. So, now what I want you to do
is tell me everything you know about Rashida s murder I don t know anything really Let me
finish. I want to know what you do know, whatever it might be, and I want you to tell me
everything you were doing at the time of the murder. Denny had known that was coming. Ugh.
Aunt Elizabeth. She waited. You know how I told you I was drinking that night? Yes. Well. He
took another deep breath and looked around. I don t remember a lot of the night. She looked
hard at him. You mean you blacked out? There were those words again. He nodded. For how
long? I don t really know. Hours though. And during the time the murder was committed? I think

Creative Play
There is often debate as to whether it s more important to provide children with free time for
creative play, or to ensure that they participate in more organized activity. In the first article the
author refers to creative play as a way to help children learn how to express themselves and promote
independent thinking. Whereas in the second article it states that organized activities are more
important in the sense that they teach children things like commitment, teamwork, and devoloping
healthy attitudes towards themselves. I believe that each of these methods have their own merit,
and that a combination of both is best for a childs development. For example, I don t think it s
healthy to fill all of a child s day with organized activities

Shelters vs. Pet Shops
INTRODUCTION
I.Have you ever gone to a pet shop and seen all of the cute little puppies and wondered where they
came from? Well, chances are they came from a puppy mill.
II.I m sure many of you in here have, or have had dogs. Either you rescued them, bought them
from a cute little pet shop, or you got it from some creepy guy off of craigslist.
III.I have done countless research over the past few weeks regarding these puppy mills.
Additionally, my parents have stressed the importance of adoption and we have adopted most of
our animals with a few exceptions.

My Favorite Cartoon Essay
Oh how I remember the days where I would wake up at 8am to watch my favorite cartoon shows.
I would eat my breakfast in front of the tv and watch the new episodes that would air. Whether it
be the classics like Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes, or some new shows like Foster s Home for
Imaginary friends or the PowerPuff Girls. Watching these cartoons brought me solace and joy. It
would bring me to its world of wonder and spectre.
To this day, these shows have taught me many values and morals that I follow and helped shape
me into a better person. It made me think that I would like to give that same feeling to another
person. In that moment, I decide that I wanted to do the same thing and create cartoon shows that

Once they saw the picture, they stood there speechless just looking at me and the drawing. When
they finally said something. They said that it was meh. I was once again devastated by what they
had said. This time I was sure that I had gotten them to change their minds. I actually thought that
this would be the one to shut them down. So, I went back to the drawing boards and wondered
about what it was that I had messed up on. I sat there looking down at the drawing, when I
noticed that it looked like it had been rushed. It was covered with curved and out of sync lines.
The eraser marks made the picture look all dark and muddy with all of the smudges that they had
left. I finally realized what was so wrong with my draws. I had rushed all of them.
At this point, I didn t know what to do. I had hit a roadblock with nowhere to turn. I felt like my

I spent my time on other things as I looked for a new pasion. But, none could fill the emptiness of
drawing. The joys of sending your ideas down the pencil expressway to its stop at paperway

give it another go and this time I would take my time.
Once again I was back at it, only this time I would be rolling down a snail s pace and drawing with
ease. After every correction, I would wipe off the eraser

Unit 2 Assignment 1 Cellular Structures and Pathogenicity
Cellular Structures and Pathogenicity
Jennifer L. Wethington
ITT Technical Institute
Unit 2 Assignment 1 Bacterial illness is a result of complex interactions between bacteria and the
host. During evolution, humans developed many ways to protect themselves against bacterial
pathogens. On the other hand, bacteria have developed strategies to evade, subvert or circumvent
these defenses (Sousa, 2003) One of the most important characteristics of bacterial pathogenicity is
the various strategies developed by prokaryotic organisms to use host molecules for their own
benefit (Sousa, 2003). To accomplish this, bacteria have evolved elaborate control mechanisms to
turn genes on and off, varying the transcriptional activator or ... Show more content on

In the initial phase of infection, environmental strains of P. aeruginosa from any aqueous setting are
inadvertently inhaled or otherwise delivered to the upper respiratory tract (Feldman, et al., 1998). It
is at this stage where the expression of functional flagella is critical, providing chemotaxis toward
desirable substrates, such as mucin, and the motility essential for widespread dissemination
(Feldman, et al., 1998). In the normal host, the presence of defenses and additional antimicrobial
peptides, the affinity of flagella components for mucin glycopeptides, and the process of
mucociliary clearance are likely to eradicate such transiently inhaled organisms from the respiratory
tract before any epithelial immune response is elicited (Feldman, et al., 1998).
While motility is commonplace among the prokaryotes, it is important to note the variety of
structures responsible for motility. These structures vary depending not only on the organism in
question, but also on the particular environment (Bardy, Ng, Jarrell, 2003). Study of the bacterial
flagellum has provided insights into many aspects of prokaryotic cellular activities including
genetics and regulation, physiology, environmental sensing, protein secretion and assembly of
complex structures (Bardy, Ng, Jarrell, 2003). Continued study of all prokaryotic motility structures
will provide knowledge that is likely to reach far beyond the topic of motility and pathogenicity

Memory And Imagination
Memory and imagination are central to Brian Friels play, Dancing at Lughnasa and Emma
Donoghues 2010 novel, Room; However, as memory provides substance to imagination and vice
versa there can often be a blurring of lines between memory and imagination, shuffling events and
shuffling reality. This overlap between memoryand imagination will be the main focus of this essay.
According to Pierre Nora, memory can be multiple, yet also specific, collective, plural and
individual; it only accommodates facts that suit it and nourishes the recollections that might be
particular or symbolic (Nora 9). Memory is life, borne by living societies founded in its name. It
remains in permanent evolution, open to the dialectic of remembering and forgetting, ... Show more

with the help of Ma s imagination, Jack presents the small space of Room as a world full of love,
inanimate friends and fun. In the first half of the novel, readers are invited into Jacks world inside

having these kinds of testing done. With any pregnancythe risk of a child having a chromosomal
abnormality is increased the later the mother conceives. Women over the age of 35 have been
shown to have a higher rate of children who were born with a chromosomal disease (The Gale

Genetic amniocentesis is performed with the intention of testing for chromosomal abnormalities.
During this the loose skin cells that are floating around in the amniotic fluid are collected, then
sent to a lab, and from there they will be grown or cultured for a few weeks. After the skin cells
have had a chance to grow to a respectable size, the lab will test for chromosomal issues. For this
particular type of amniocentesis, the procedure is done while the woman is between her 15th and
19th week of pregnancy. Maturity amniocentesis is done on the amniotic fluid to test for the
maturity of the fetus lungs and whether they will be able to function during birth. Maturity is done
during the 32nd and 39th week of pregnancy when the doctor has concerned about the women being

The Causes And Consequences Of The Iraq War
Time leading up to the start Iraq War, the United States had tried to remove or limit Saddam
Hussein s power by supporting uprisings and rebellion by President George H. Bush, example of
that is in February 1991, as American forces were driving Saddam s troops out of Kuwait (Barry
Lando / AlterNet, 2007). Later; President Bill Clintonordered air strikes against Iraqbecause it
refused to cooperate with United Nations (U.N.) weapons inspectors. ( Clinton orders air attack
on Iraq ). So; we have been in conflicts with Iraq for years before the events of 9/11/2001.
Reasons stemmed mainly from suspicions of Bin Laden along with Al Qaeda been linked to Iraq.
The Iraq War and the overall objective, and Consequences would be put troops in Iraq and cost the
nation financially along with the ultimate American sacrifice.
There are many reasons for the Iraq War before and after the terrorist attack on 9/11. There was
also an attack on a U.S warship the USS Cole, October 12, 2000, which was linked to the Al
Qaeda terrorist network ( USS Cole attacked by terrorists ). Many were suspecting links between
Iraq and Al Qaeda; so, the United States said Iraq was supporting al Qaeda (Bassil,2012). One
more reason is the capture of Bin Laden, who was leader al Qaeda. Furthermore, reason the fear
of the weapons of mass destruction like VX gas, mustard gas, thiodiglycol, as well as tactical
ballistic missiles. The last reason was to remove Saddam Hussein from the power of Iraq. The

The Morality Of Same Sex Marriage
The morality of same sex marriage is a major controversial issue in the United States today.
While Liberals believe that marriage should be the union of two people who love each other and
that it should be legal for gay and lesbian individuals in order to ensure equal rights for all
citizens, Conservatives believe that marriage is the union of one woman and one man only and
that requiring citizens to sanction same sex relationships violates moral and religious beliefs.
Taking opposing viewpoints of this issue are both philosophers David Boonin and Jeff Jordan who
discuss the public dilemma of same sex marriagewithin their articles.

After providing a set of premises as to why one would hold the parity thesis which states that
homosexuality has the same moral status as heterosexuality true; Jordan attacks these claims by
objecting to the first premise which states that homosexual acts between consenting adults do not
harm anyone, and the fourth which explains that discrimination against homosexuals removes
individual freedom as it ignores personal choice and privacy [Jordan 2]. He states that these
premises are only plausible when these acts are done in private, concluding that one should only be
able to discriminate homosexual behavior if it is done in public. This premise is an assumption
made by Jordan that unlike homosexual acts, people enjoy viewing heterosexual acts that are
displayed publically. This premise assumes that the majority of society accepts viewing
heterosexual behavior in public, but are uncomfortable with viewing public homosexual acts.
To set up his argument in support of the Difference Thesis, Jordan creates a scenario in which one
person believes that subject X is morally wrong but another person believes it is morally
permissible, calling this conflict an impasse (Jordan 42). He continues to define public dilemma as

Analysis Of The Book Witches The Absolutely True Tale Of...
In the book Witches! The Absolutely True Tale of Disaster in Salem by Rosalyn Schanzer the
town of Salem starting going into a panic of the theory of witches from the fits of two girls.
Everyone accusing each other, family is accusing family. Brothers are accusing brothers.
Accused witches are taken to trial, but are the trials that fair? The trials were unfair because of
the use of spectral evidence, the inability to testify for oneself, and the surprisingly unbiased
judges. Even though it was a courtroom, spectral evidence was used in many ways. Spectral
evidence is when a witness is saying that somebody s spector or spirit appeared to them in a
dream and they are using it to testify against whoever is on trial. When the accusers were having
fits and screaming and thrashing in odd ways, the courtroom did not tell them to quiet down,
they instead believed that the accused witch in the room was guilty, it was a horrid sight.
(According to the Salem Witch Trials DBQ) Document 6 The examination of Bridget Bishop,
when she moved her head all of the afflicted moved their head, then she turned up her eyes and
the afflicted turned up their eyes. When the accused witch looked or moved a muscle, the
accusers magically moved the same muscle. According to Joan Holub s What Were the Salem

Etiquette In The Odyssey
Etiquette is not a term that we do not hear very often but whether or not we do, it is still
incorporated into almost every aspect of our lives. To me, etiquette is the manner in which
something is done, and it should govern the way we do certain things, depending on the task at
hand. It is something like the unspoken rules of society which are procedures to carry out certain
tasks that exist without us being conscious of their existence. Etiquetteis evident everywhere and
even dates back to Ancient Greece. In Homer s Odyssey, when the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena
disguises herself as a family friend and pays a visit to Telemachus, Odysseus s son, it was shown to
be that he greets Athena by shaking her right and taking her spear. That action... Show more content

After I moved to the United States in 2008, we slowly strayed away from this practice. This was
mainly due to it becoming impractical to eat on hardwood floor during the wintertime without
any carpets and when it did get warmer, we were too busy exploring our new environment and
eating out to continue the practice. Eventually, the practice faded away from us. However, a rule
of etiquette for eating for Muslims that my family and I still carry with us to this day is having to
eat with our right hands. This applies to all people no matter whether they are left handed or right
handed. This, unlike eating on the floor, is obligatory for all Muslims. This is enforced because it
was originally constructed so that it may promote peace as well as the absence of violence. This is
similar to the widespread and international etiquette of usually shaking the right hand as it showed
that those who were shaking hands mean no harm or have any intention of using violence in their
meeting. Similarly, the idea of eating with the left hand is related to the usage of violence which
our Prophet Muhammad directly correlates to Shaytaan (or Satan). The enforcing of this is directly
in line with an interpretation of rules of etiquette which states, All rules of etiquette exist to
promote harmony and prevent violence as it is in agreement to the original intent of Prophet
Muhammad, who enforced this

were passed and signed into law during America s darkest days of the Great Depression and
World War II. Within the first hundred days of President Roosevelt s first term he signed the New
Deal . This New Deal created government programs to help produce government jobs for the
unemployed, help promote economic growth, and helped regulate the banks and Wall Street. Some
of the original New Dealprograms are still in use today such as: the Securities and Exchange
Commission, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Social Security. President Roosevelt
showed great leadership and knowledge during our nation s crises.
Born in Hyde Park, New York, in 1882, President Franklin grew up in a wealthy and political
family; his 5th cousin was President Theodore Roosevelt. Franklin Roosevelt attended Harvard
College and Columbia Law and in 1905 he married Eleanor Roosevelt. Through out his life, FDR
became a political leader within the Democratic Party and served as: New York... Show more

After my father decided to run for Congress I knew that the next year of my life would be
nothing like anything before. I had no idea what to expect or even how to run a political
campaign. I did not know what things would be said about my dad and my family and how time
consuming campaigning is everyday. This fear of not knowing what to expect was very
challenging for me; since I like to be in control of every situation and have every minute of my
life planned out. Even though there were many struggles, mudslinging, and tears everything turned
out for the best. I know that if I had not been thrown into this situation I would have never found
my love for politics. When we are worried about trying something new it is the fear of failure that
holds us back from our full potential. I now try to live life by asking

A Small Porch By Wendell Berry
The book A Small Porch was written by an essayist, poet, novelist and farmer known as Wendell
Berry. He was born in New Castle at a place called Kentucky on August 5, 1934. He received his
BA in English and an MA in 1956 and 1957 respectively. Berry has authored more than thirty books
in the form of essays, poetry, and novels. Among the books he wrote A Small Porch is one of the
most popular works associated with him. It is a collection of poems conveying different messages.
The poet delivers the information using various elements of poetry. Among them is the symbolism,
which is, be the principal focus of this paper.
The first instance where symbolism is evident is in the poem The long cold drive life inward.

The mockingbird sings is another poem where symbolism is utilized (pg. VI). A mockingbird is
an individual who is presented as an innocent person by the narrator. Despite doing or saying
what is right for his lover and himself, the information he tries delivering to his lover remains
unclear. He ends up repeating the same actions and says to please his lover. The narrator refers to
him as silly and egotistical and that the song he sings is only clear to him and not to others about
the direction of the message conveyed in the song. He ends up failing and probably suffers out of
unclear intentions. The connection of the poem to the title of the book is that the innocent person
in the poem is nature which tries to please humans but all in vain.
The other section where symbolism is evident is Small Porch in the Woods. It is divided into
several poems. In the first one, there is the mention of unshifting star which represents a change that
is undisturbed. It is the turning point of the society. Despite the challenges communities face in
their life, their ambition leads them towards achieving their objectives in life. The second poem
under this section is about a heavy rain that fell in the month of April. Heavy rain is the
representation of unhappy moments. The description presented by the narrator shows that it is a
sad moment where everything is carried away. Throughout the poem, the rain is seen, as a lesson

Catch 22 Psychology
Psychology in Catch 22 Catch 22 is a black comedy novel about death, about what people do
when faced with the daily likelihood of annihilation. For the most part what they do is try to
survive in any way they can. The book begins, The island of Pianosa lies in the Mediterranean Sea
eight miles south of Elba. That is the geographical location of the action. Much of the emotional
plot of the book turns on the question of who s crazy, and I suggest that it is illuminating to look at
its world in Kleinian terms. The location of the story in the inner world is the claustrum a space
inside the psychic anus, at the bottom of the psychic digestive tract, where everyone lives
perpetually in projective identification, and the only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The intensity and complexity of the nurse s anxieties are to be attributed primarily to the
peculiar capacity of the objective features of her work situation to stimulate afresh these early
situations and their accompanying emotions (Lyth, 1959, pp. 46 7). There are such nurses in the
perverse world of Catch 22. They tend the Man in White, in plaster from head to toe, arms and
legs encased and extended. Those whose job it is to tend him routinely take the bottle of plasma
going in and the bottle of urine going out and change them round: there is no difference between
nourishment and waste, introjection and projection; fair is foul and foul is fair. Bion describes
the church and the army as exemplary organisations for embodying the pathology of group
relations. Pianosa is an Army Air Corps base, run by mad, ambitious officers, reeking of
arrogance and sycophancy, for whom success and failure are the only measures of worth (p. 262)
and survival is always at risk. Their survival in career terms is maintained at the expense of the
literal survival of the officers and enlisted men who lie below them in the military hierarchy. The
hierarchy includes General Dreedle, who is astonished to learn that he cannot have anyone shot
who irritates him (pp. 218, 279), General Peckem, head of Special Services, who cares only for
bureaucratic power in the table of organisation and thinks it eminently rational that combat
operations should come under his

Analyzing the Causes of Insomnia
For many victims of insomnia, there are long nights of seemingly endless thoughts. Insomniacs are
stuck continuously staring at the ceiling, thinking about whatever there is to think about, and
checking the clock. For many others, this concept is extremely difficult to comprehend. Insomnia
is generally a sleeping disorder where the individual has trouble falling asleep or staying asleep
(WebMD). There are several treatment options for this disorder such as sleep hygiene, relaxation,
cognitive behavioral therapy, and specific medications. In many cases, insomniais temporary for
short or long periods of times, while for others, can be a life long predicament. With this
problem, many may ask, what exactly causes insomnia? Is there a lot of stress before going to
bed? Does the individual suffer from any medical conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders,
post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or any others? There are several questions to ask when it
exploring the origins of insomnia. Emotional problems such as stress, anxiety, and depression can
have a direct relationship with this sleeping disorder and can cause a majority of the cases of
insomnia today.
Often times, depression is partnered with depression. While approximately fifteen percent of
individuals that suffer from depression sleep too much, about eighty percent have difficulty staying
asleep or falling asleep. Michael Perlis, the director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program,
states that insomnia may be an

Homeless Veterans Community Analysis

previous wars had experience when they came back home lack of support that lead them to become

Potential Non Pharmacological Interventions Pharmacological interventions is a must for patients
experiencing schizophrenia, but non pharmacological interventions are always important as well.
Non pharmacological interventions range from coping skills all the way to therapy. Other mental
disorders may not require as strenuous of interventions because the disease process is not as
dangerous. For instance, for mood disorders, exercise and eating correctly are two very easy non
pharmacological interventions a client can implement to better their disease process. With
schizophrenia it is often harder because to clients have to gain insight, and understand why they

Ancient Ireland Research Paper
The first humanoids appeared in Ireland during the 7th millennium BC. They are believed to have
arrived from France and Scandinavia over the open ocean. They settled areas on the North Eastern
coast of Ireland. During the Mesolithic period inhabitants depended mostly on fishing and hunting
and gathering. Curraghs, light weight boats, were used to navigate inland water and coastal fishing.
The only remnants of this culture are the imprints left in pottery, there were no major contributions
to the island itself. During the 4th millennium BC Irelands second major wave of settlement. During

Patrick s Confessio was written circa 440 AD, by St. Patrick. In the Confessio St. Patrick tells
the story to the Irish people of why he came to Ireland. He tell them of the messages sent to him
from God throughout his life that had saved him from slavery during his childhood. He uses the
story of his life to show the Irish why they should turn to Christianity. St. Patrick even explains
the Irish that he is not a perfect person. I know I cannot trust myself as long as I am in this body
subject to death This quote shows that he does not hold him above the Irish people, but as an
equal. He talks about how even though he has sinned God has forgiven him and has even saved
him in times of need. This confession by St Patrick also defends his actions in Ireland. When I
baptised so many thousands of people, did I hope to receive even the smallest payment? If so,
tell me, and I will return it to you This quote tells the Irish that he is not converting them in a
selfish way. He is converting them for their sakes and because he was asked by God himself. In
1171 internal struggle for power caused the Irish to be open to attack from Anglo Welsh warriors.
This is the first time that Ireland had faced an army from outside of it s own borders, which had
this meant that he Irish had not had to keep up with the current military innovations. In October of
1171 King Henry II arrived in Ireland. In 1172 King Henry took Dublin under his protection and
issued the first Charter for his city .

The Rights Of An International Human Right
The right to be forgotten is a concept discussed and put into practice in the European Union since
2006. In May 2014, the European Court of Justice ruled that EU citizens have a right to be
forgotten, that they could request that search engines remove links to pages deemed private, even
if the pages themselves remain on the Internet. Originally this law was planned in 1995 but called
differently and didn t have that much effect until today. The issue has arisen from desires of people
to determine the development of their life in an autonomous way, without being perpetually or
periodically stigmatized as a consequence of a specific action performed in the past. However,
there has been controversy about the practicality of establishing a... Show more content on

They argued that the failure to do so effectively undermined what the Right to Be Forgotten was
intended to protect, yet Google appealed the order.
Google is expanding the number of websites it will censor under Europe s right to be forgotten
law. Europeans have found a loophole to view most banned websites, which has led Google to
close that loophole for European users. The websites will be censored results when they search
on google.com as well as a local, national version of the site. The new policy is unlikely to have
many practical effects, but the case still has symbolic importance as Google tangles with national
governments over how far local censorship orders should extend. In Canada, for instance, the
country s Supreme Court is taking up a case in which a provincial judge ordered Google to delete
listings on a worldwide basis if such a ruling holds, it could embolden judges in other countries to
make similar extraterritorial demands.2
This paper aims to discuss many legal cases which regard the right to be forgotten. One case was
back in 2010: In 2010, a Spanish citizen lodged a complaint against a Spanish newspaper with the
national Data Protection Agency and against Google Spain and Google Inc. The citizen
complained that an auction notice of his repossessed home on Google s search results infringed his
privacy right because the proceedings concerning him had been fully resolved for several

If Inequality Is Increasing, Are We Likely to See More...
The question assumes that there is a linear relationship between inequality and armed conflict; the
rise of the former inevitably leads to the increase of the latter. However, in the absence of
functioning communism or utopian egalitarianism, we need to concede that our world is full of
inequalities, but not all parts of the world are equally ridden by conflict. Moreover, large N studies
of civil war, conducted over the past few years, all seem to conclude that inequality is not
directly linked to the risk of civil war (Collier Hoeffler, 2004: 563 595; Fearon Laitin, 2003: 75 90;
Hegre, Gissinger, Gleditsch, 2003: 251 276). Following this lead, I will argue for a non linear link
between inequality and conflict and for the multi causality... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Contradictory results might be explained by emphasising the diversity of the term inequality .
Mount (2008:3), classifies four different forms of inequality: political inequality, inequality of
opportunities, inequality of treatment in society, inequality of membership in society. To this list
we could add the, partly overlapping, categories of inequality of race, gender, status, class, age,
income, inequality of access to resources, education and medical services. At any given place and
time, the specific constellation and degree of various forms of inequality will be unique. Can we
expect distinct constellations and levels of inequality to conform to the simple linear relationship
suggested in the title? Besançon s (2005) findings that different socio political set ups have
differing results with regards to conflict are but one hint towards greater complexity. As a result,
she associates herself with academics suggesting that causes for all types of civil wars and armed
conflict are not necessarily parallel. Instead, she argues, a micro analysis of specific cases might
prove more fruitful. A claim for complexity can be further underpinned by invoking Stewart s
(2000) analysis of horizontal inequality. Structurally, one can distinguish between vertical
inequality, which is based on objectively quantifiable differences between people (e.g. income,
wealth, etc.) and

The Sniper Essay
The Sniper
The Sniper places a strong emphasis on the evils of war, and yet paints a vivid image of mankind
s qualities and their society. Employing the technique of describing one particular sniper to
symbolise a general subject, readers are able to gain a deep insight into the evils of war. In this story,
the assembly of setting, contrasting characters and themes of fanaticism and division of loyalties
are vital to conveying the horror of war. On the other hand, The Sniper also discusses the power of
war, depicting it as the decider of life and death for men. Its force is further emphasised when
neighbours are turned into enemies under war s influence.

only characters that are mentioned are the sniper, another sniper, his enemy and an old woman.
Apart from the old woman, all other characters are men who represent figures of war and are
present to do nothing but kill. They are seekers of death and bring about a web of deaths. The
manner in which these men ВЎВ§reignВЎВЁ over the city by killing, and that ordinary dwellers

The Reign Of Louis Xv And Disappearing Toward The End Of...
Flourishing during the reign of Louis XV and disappearing toward the end of the 18th century,
Rococo was a playful opposing response to the solemnity of Classicism and the grandeur of
Baroque. As dominant political power was shifting from France to England, and Venice was
beginning to become stale in the political sense and become more of a site for tourists, there was
a chance for artistic styles to change as well Moreover, with the end of Louis XIV s reign,
movement away from previously mentioned artistic styles began. Taking up residence in Paris, the
aristocracy abandoned the Palace of Versailles. This move away from the monarchy in favor of the
aristocracy can be seen in Rococoart, as can other elements from the time period. The actual term,
rococo, comes from the French word rocaille, which means rock work . The Rococo style was
given its name due to its reliance on seashells, bits of rock, and other playful motifs for
decorations. During his reign, Louis XIV commissioned light and airy decorations for Versailles.
After his death in 1715, this style began to take the place of Baroque. There was new emphasis on
asymmetry, as well as on complex, graceful curves. The s curve in particular was the most
important. Color schemes lightened up considerably, and overall form became more relaxed and
avoided form and direction at timesГ©. Overall, this carefree, lighthearted style was best in smaller

The Life and Legacy of Doroteo Arango Essay
Many people do not know the true story of Francisco Pancho Villa. Pancho Villa was actually
born Doroteo Arango Arambula on June 5, 1878 in San Juan del Rio, Mexico. Doroteo s parents
were uneducated, peasant sharecrop farmers. This fact is important because Doroteo had a high
level of intelligence even though he did not have any formal education. After his father s death,
Doroteo took his father s place as a sharecropper and helped support his mother and four sisters.
There are many versions of how Doroteo became the outlaw bandit Pancho Villa. The most widely
accepted story is that Doroteo shot and or killed Augustin Negrete over the attempted rape of

Pancho Villa redistributed the wealth gained from his illegal activities. He often took the money
from the rich and gave it to the poor. These deeds led him to be known as a modern day Mexican
Robin Hood. In addition to giving the poor people of Mexico money, Villa reallocated land and
stabilized the economy in Chihuahua, Mexico and surrounding areas. It is not clear if Pancho
Villa purposely killed the landowners or if they were causalities of war. In any event, Pancho
gave land to the widows and children of his fallen soldiers (Williams 12). Villa also built schools
for orphans, distributed food, and improved the water supply. He continued to be favored by the
citizens of Mexico as his actions were vital to the regions continued growth and betterment.
Pancho Villa greatest historical contribution was his role as a Mexican revolutionary. It is a well
known fact that he was an effective leader and well skilled in the art of guerilla warfare
(Rosenberg 8). At one time, Villa was a general, commanding his own military force. His army
was known as Division del Norte. At its best, the army contained over fifty thousand soldiers.

While talking about the change in organization, says that, It involves the knowledge of the

The team members are still operating under the old attitude, that the equipment, sells itself and that
the customer will do all the integration of the products into their operations. The notion of helping
the customers from initial call through implementation and use of the system is still quite unknown
to many of them. Customers are more particular about the service/product, and looking for

Volkswagen s Impact On The World s Best Known Car...
I. Volkswagen is one of the world s best known car manufacturers; unfortunately it has damaged its
credibility and reputation with the recent emission scandal that the company was involved in.
Volkswagen failed in establishing the triple bottom line, social responsibility, and sustainability.
The long and commonly held belief was that the only responsibility of business was to maximize
the wealth of its shareholders. Today, however, companies must be socially responsible and focus
on what is now called the Triple Bottom Line that is compromised of: environment, economy and
people. All of this ties into the sustainability goals that companies are now setting for themselves to
show the public that the firm is socially responsible. Recently, Volkswagenhas been the center of
controversy, because their diesel engines had a device that could detect when they were being
tested and change their performance to improve the results. Volkswagen s recent debacle has
highlighted how failing to be socially responsible can come back to haunt a company. The
emissions cheating scandal that Volkswagen was caught in hurt the German carmaker s image,
brand and reputation. Before the scandal, the general public held the Volkswagen brand in high
esteem. Volkswagen has been a car brand that has been known for its reliability and quality.
However, in light of the scandal, Volkswagen received a plethora of negative media exposure. A

  • 2. The Technology And Social Trends When it comes to investing, millennials have a different approach than their parents. Young investors, who have been through two market crashes, have developed skepticism and mistrust towards banks and traditional advisory services. Many millennials prefer to save and forgo investing all together. For those willing to test the market, technology and social trends play a significant impact on their decision making. With millennials now outnumbering baby boomers in the U.S., many traditional financial servicesstrive to connect with the younger generation. This comes on the heels of a noticeable upward trend in financial technology and online wealth management. Through the use of technology, robo advisors have built a successful foundation for attracting young investors. Technology Given their love of technology, it comes as no surprise that millennials are gravitating towards financial technology. Young investors are accustomed to using technology for every aspect of their lives and investing is no different. Their relationship with technology makes digital asset management more appealing. Young adults are more inclined to make choices via a smartphone over in person interactions. Not only do millennials prefer accessible apps and web based platforms, but automation has played a major factor in the success of robo advisors. Millennials are accustomed to subscribing to all their services electronically. To them, investing is another service that should be automated. Compared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Students will combat new experiences in their initial year of college; it can even go together with a lot of bumps along the Semester As a student I had to realize how to balance my new life as a university student and the key transitions. My first semester biggest problem was transitioning and adapting to the new surroundings, attempting to create new friends and the problems adapting to collegework. Adjusting to a new environment and surroundings that you re not used to can be too much for some students to adjust too. • 4. The Retail Industry Is Highly Competitive, With Few Barriers The retail industry is highly competitive, with few barriers to entry. Each Company competes with many other local, regional and national retailers for customers, associates, locations, merchandise, services and other important aspects of the Company s business. Those competitors include other department stores, discounters, home furnishing stores, specialty retailers, wholesale clubs, direct to consumer businesses and other forms of retail commerce. Some competitors are larger than JCPenney, have greater financial resources available to them, and, as a result, may be able to devote greater resources to sourcing, promoting and selling their products. There are many factors that characterize competition, including advertising, service,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There will be several more in 2018. The merchandise is attractive and offered at very cheap prices. The concept is extremely appealing to young people on a tight budget. Primark will present a competitive challenge for every promotional retailer selling apparel, fashion jewelry, and various seasonal and home novelties. Aldi s will be expanding with 400 stores in the United States to keep up on pressure price. It is a privately held German retailer, known for cheap prices on private brand food products, being sold in rudimentary stores, has recently included inexpensive fashion to its availability. This will be a competitive factor for low priced retailers. Nordstrom s Rack, which has 167 stories at the end of this year, will add an additional 25 stores in 2017. This is certainly a sign that fashion customers are continuing to endorse that company s low priced effort. They scoop up fashion merchandise, especially shoes, at very discounted prices. Neiman Marcus is now expanding their Last Call stores to compete more aggressively with The Rack. Macy s is constantly drumming up consumer interest with another sale I think they ran about 80 sales last year. They are well aware that the millennial customer looks for value in department stores. • 5. A Comparison Of Alone Together By Arthur Schwartz And... This piece is a jazz standard that was composed by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz. Schwartz was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 25, 1900 and died on September 3, 1984. He began playing piano and harmonica at a very young age and also wrote silent films at the age of fourteen. Dietz was born on September 8,1896 and died on July 30, 1983. He was a publicist and lyrists. Him and Schwartz first started working together when they teamed up for a Broadway show in 1929. They composed Alone Together in 1932 for the Broadway musical Flying Colors (Schwartz composing the music and Dietz the lyrics). This particular piece is considered a ballad, meaning that the tune tells a story. Ballads come from the French chanson and they are often made up of thirteen lines with an ABABBCBC form. It was originally used for dance tunes, but in the nineteenth century it was used for slow tunes. The actual form for Alone Together is AABA. The significant thing about the first two A sections, is that it is fourteen bars long which is very uncommon when it comes to American song writing. In common song writing, each A section is only eight bars long. The bridge of the tune also known as the B section is quite normal. It is the standard eight bar length which leads to the last eight bars of the third A section. The tune is written in key of D minor, but, instead of playing a D minor in the thirteenth measure of the last A section, Schwartz decides to play a D major which is called a Picardy ... • 6. Dark Inside Trust Quotes The Significance of Trust Trust is a valuable asset in which many people rely on everyday. Once trust is broken, it becomes difficult to move forward in life and trust new people.Individuals must be cautious in the ways trust will affect their life. In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, the main characters often contemplate if there are other people going through the same traumatising moments as they are, and whether they would be considered trustworthy. These characters go through many times of struggle, confusion, and bravery in order to find out whether the path they travel on will lead them to victory, or traps they will regret falling into. I always liked a show. Better than simply putting a bullet in your brain. I needed to see if I could convince you first (Roberts 171). This quote specifically proves that Twiggy betrayed Mason s trust by tricking him into thinking he was a good man, while also violently cracking a glass mug over Mason s head. We ll find you. You ll never never hide long enough. We ll find you and kill each and every last one of you. All alone. Run, Mr. Dowell (172). Mason definitely knows his trust for Twiggy has gone out the window after experiencing Twiggy s terrifying threats, which makes Mason contemplate whether meeting new people would be a smart move, or just another mistake similar to the one he makes with Twiggy. After all, Mason s terrifying encounter with twiggy changed his perspective on trust, and made him realize that trust does not come easy, especially in the circumstance of ... He is an American musician, singer, and songwriter and is best known for his work with E Street Band which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. Springsteen became interested in music after seeing Elvis perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. Springsteen recalled, [Elvis] was as big as the whole country itself... as big as the whole dream. Many seem to think that Born in the U.S.A. is an extremely patriotic song in which Springsteen is almost proclaiming how proud he is to be an American but this is far from reality. The song actually deals with the Vietnam War and the suffering that occurs when veterans come back home. One of Springsteen s verse makes this scene quite a real one for us as listeners, Come back home to the refinery/ Hiring man said son if it was up to me/ Went down to see my V.A. man/ He said son, don t you understand (Springsteen). This particular verse deals with the struggle that many veterans had when they came back home and began looking for jobs. Vietnam was unlike any other war America had been a part of before. First and foremost, most people consider the war a loss for America. The main objective of the war was to stop the spread of Communism to South Vietnam. American troops were able to accomplish this task but as soon as they were pulled out and sent home, the North invaded the South and took over. In the end Communism had spread to South Vietnam. Returning troops are generally welcomed home like the heros that they are. Take World War 2 for example, the troops coming home for combat were welcomed with parades all across the country, but not after Vietnam (COL. Jack Jacobs, U.S. ARMY (RET.)) • 11. Heating Ventilation And Air Conditioning Systems Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems NT 131 Nuclear Facility Components Tyler Sandoval October 8, 2016 Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system serves an important purpose in where we live or work. Whether we notice it or not it is providing us with clean air to inhale. Not only does the HVACsystem provide us with fresh air, it also: maintains the flow of air to make sure certain areas are contamination free, eliminates contaminates before it is released to the atmosphere, protects equipment, and keeps us in a comfortable state. Air Flow Control Flow control is an important aspect of a ventilation system. The airflow scheme that is used allows separation between contaminated areas from non contaminated area. The way that airflow is controlled is by using high and low pressure areas. Since air moves from a high pressure to a low pressure it is important to keep a contaminated area at a lower pressure. When a contaminated area is set to a negative pressure it prevents air from the contaminated area from flowing into non contaminated area. The pressure of the contaminated area inside the building must always be lower than the pressure outside the building. When the pressure inside the contaminated area is lower than the pressure outside the building it helps prevent toxic air from being leaked out and released to the atmosphere. Once the leaking of air inside the building is prevented the air can go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Determination of an Unknown Amino Acid from Titration Determination of An Unknown Amino Acid From Titration Abstract Experiment 11 used a titration curve to determine the identity of an unknown amino acid. The initial pH of the solution was 1.96, and the pKa s found experimentally were 2.0, 4.0, and 9.85. The accepted pKa values were found to be 2.10, 4.07, and 9.47. The molecular weight was calculated to be 176.3 while the accepted value was found to be 183.5. The identity of the unknown amino acid was established to be glutamic acid, hydrochloride. Introduction Amino acids are simple monomers which are strung together to form polymers (also called proteins). These monomers are characterized by the general structure shown in figure 1. Fig. 1 Although the general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is much more difficult to remove the second proton than the first. This is due to the fact that it is more difficult to remove a proton from a anion. Furthermore, the more negative the anion, the more difficult to remove the proton. The trapezoidal method can be employed to find the equivalence points as shown if figure 6. The volume of titrant between two equivalence points is helpful in the determination of the molecular weight of the amino acid. Fig. 6 The purpose of experiment 11 is to determine the identity of an unknown amino acid by analyzing a titration curve. The experiment should lend the idea that the following may be directly or indirectly deduced from the curve the equivalence and half equivalence points, pKa values, the molecular weight and the identity of the unknown amino acid. Experimental The pH meter was calibrated and 1.631 grams (.0089 moles) of the unknown amino acid was weighed and placed in a 250 mL volumetric flask. About 100 mL of distilled water was added to dissolve the solid. The flask was gently swirled and inverted to insure a complete dissolution of the solid. The solution was diluted with distilled water to the volume mark on the flask. Then, one buret was filled with 0.100 M HCl stock solution and another buret was filled with

The return of peace allowed for a new culture to emerge that was the opposite of samurai elegance and control; there was a new form of entertainment called Kabuki. These types of performers reversed genderroles and mocked samurai rulers, which caused the samurai, traders and workers in wealthy towns to disapprove of these performers. Even though they were annoyed at these performances, it confirmed what they took to be their innate superiority to the rowdy culture of the cities (203). The success of these performances can be explained by the cultural hierarchy theory. The cultural hierarchy is the idea that cultures create a divide to depict the ethical differences. • 17. Pros And Cons Of Year-Round Schooling Is Year Round Schooling as Bad as it Seems? When a person first mentions the idea of year round schooling, their comment is usually met with a look of dread. The image of year round schooling is that students must go to school every day throughout the entire year with no breaks. This is an untrue image. Students are given frequent breaks throughout the schoolyear to make up for the shorter summer break. It was first used in the 1800s, which goes against many people s thoughts that it is a new alternative schooling proposal (Research). At that time year round schooling was used in industrial cities to teach English to children of immigrants. By the early 1900s, year round schooling was used as a method to reduce overcrowding, underfunding,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Year round schooling could make those vacations more difficult. Even though there is a shorter summer break using year round schooling, there is still enough time for families to go on a long summer vacation. In fact, because of the way a balanced calendar is set up, there are different opportunities for vacations. In year round schooling there are multiple breaks after each quarter. These can allow families to go on vacation on seasons other than summer, and have more frequent, smaller breaks during the year (Year round). The cost for plane tickets and some other expenses of a vacation could be reduced. This could occur because if going on vacation during an offseason, plane tickets are generally less expensive (Year round). With standard schooling there are times when families want to go on vacation. The problem is that there either is not a break that the family could go during, or the break is not long enough for the vacation the family wants (Flanagan). This causes the student to miss school, and with that tests, lessons, and homework. It can be hard for students to get caught up and fully understand the information that they missed during their time off of school (Flanagan). The frequent break would help with this and make planning vacations more easy. Summer vacationing seems difficult with year round schooling, but there are actually many ... Poetry is a literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm. There are many types of poetry and each has its own effect on the words. There are over fifty types of poetry. Poetry is categorized by the number of lines in the poem, the words in the poem, whether it rhymes or not, and what it is about. Some types of poetry examples include haiku, free verse, sonnets, and name poems, although there are many more types as well (Oxford living dictionaries ).People usually use the types of poetry they like best. I will tell you a little bit about a few types of poetry that are my favorite. Out of all the types of poetry, my most favorite type is a haiku. Haikus are poems consisting of three lines. The first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables. Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry (Kidzone Poetry). Haikus are usually used as a focus on nature. Traditionally, they are in the present tense and focused on associations between images. Being so short, a haiku is open about its purpose. This type of poem may be short, but used in the correct way, it can be very powerful to get a message across. • 19. The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Critical Analysis: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde In the novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Robert Louis Stevenson demonstrates the battle between good and evil that occurs within the individual. The novel is essentially an allegory for the internal struggle between these two sides of the human personality. The story is centered around a chemist named Henry Jekyll, who composes a concoction that allows him to shift between his typical, well mannered self and an alternate evil identity that allows him to give into his sinful pleasures. In their critiques on the novel, Joyce Carol Oates and Henry James discuss Stevenson s presentation of good vs. evil, as well as the significance of his message on the subject.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James states that it is not so much the profundity of the idea which strikes [him] so much as the art of the presentation the extremely successful form. James s praise of Stevenson s writing is warranted. Though the struggle between good and evil is not so much an original idea, Stevenson s portrayal of this age old conflict is what captivates the reader. James goes on to state that in the novel there is genuine feeling for the perpetual moral question, a fresh sense of the difficulty of being good and the brutishness of being bad, but what there is above all is a singular ability in holding the interest. Stevenson s story is an intriguing one that keeps the reader uncertain until the very end. The novel portrays both sides of man s nature in a way that highlights the features of both good and evil by offering perspective on the subject from the same man in both forms. Jekyll himself states that he was no more [himself] when [he] laid aside restraint and plunged in shame, than when [he] labored...at the furtherance of knowledge or the relief of sorrow and suffering (Stevenson 61). • 20. Payment Card Systems Were Breached On September 8th, 2014, Home Depot released a statement indicating that its payment card systems were breached. An investigation had started on September 2nd but they were still trying to discover the actual scope and impact of the breach. Home Depot was one of the many victims to a retail data breach in 2014. The unfortunate thing is the way the attacker s infiltrated the POS networks and how the attackers were able to steal the payment card data, were the same methods used in the Target data breach. By ignoring the warnings created from the breach at Target, Home Depot allowed the attackers to use similar methods that could have been easily defended. Through the use of a third party vendor s logon credentials, the attackers were able to gain access. Then they exploited a zero day vulnerability in Windows, which allowed them to pivot from the vendor specific environment to the Home Depot corporate environment. Since both networks were linked, this was very easy. Once they were in the Home Depot network, they were able install memory scraping malware on over 7,500 self checkout POS terminals. They just put out an update to all the POS machines. Just like any IT shop would do. This malware was able to grab 56 million credit and debit cards. The malware was also able to capture 53 million email addresses. The stolen payment cards were used to put up for sale and bought by carders. The stolen email addresses were helpful in putting together large phishing campaigns. Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wethington ITT Technical Institute Unit 2 Assignment 1 Bacterial illness is a result of complex interactions between bacteria and the host. During evolution, humans developed many ways to protect themselves against bacterial pathogens. On the other hand, bacteria have developed strategies to evade, subvert or circumvent these defenses (Sousa, 2003) One of the most important characteristics of bacterial pathogenicity is the various strategies developed by prokaryotic organisms to use host molecules for their own benefit (Sousa, 2003). In the initial phase of infection, environmental strains of P. aeruginosa from any aqueous setting are inadvertently inhaled or otherwise delivered to the upper respiratory tract (Feldman, et al., 1998). It is at this stage where the expression of functional flagella is critical, providing chemotaxis toward desirable substrates, such as mucin, and the motility essential for widespread dissemination (Feldman, et al., 1998). In the normal host, the presence of defenses and additional antimicrobial peptides, the affinity of flagella components for mucin glycopeptides, and the process of mucociliary clearance are likely to eradicate such transiently inhaled organisms from the respiratory tract before any epithelial immune response is elicited (Feldman, et al., 1998). While motility is commonplace among the prokaryotes, it is important to note the variety of structures responsible for motility. These structures vary depending not only on the organism in question, but also on the particular environment (Bardy, Ng, Jarrell, 2003). Study of the bacterial flagellum has provided insights into many aspects of prokaryotic cellular activities including genetics and regulation, physiology, environmental sensing, protein secretion and assembly of complex structures (Bardy, Ng, Jarrell, 2003). It is something like the unspoken rules of society which are procedures to carry out certain tasks that exist without us being conscious of their existence. This was mainly due to it becoming impractical to eat on hardwood floor during the wintertime without any carpets and when it did get warmer, we were too busy exploring our new environment and eating out to continue the practice. Eventually, the practice faded away from us. However, a rule of etiquette for eating for Muslims that my family and I still carry with us to this day is having to eat with our right hands. This applies to all people no matter whether they are left handed or right handed. This, unlike eating on the floor, is obligatory for all Muslims. This is enforced because it was originally constructed so that it may promote peace as well as the absence of violence. This is similar to the widespread and international etiquette of usually shaking the right hand as it showed that those who were shaking hands mean no harm or have any intention of using violence in their meeting. Similarly, the idea of eating with the left hand is related to the usage of violence which our Prophet Muhammad directly correlates to Shaytaan (or Satan). The narrator refers to him as silly and egotistical and that the song he sings is only clear to him and not to others about the direction of the message conveyed in the song. He ends up failing and probably suffers out of unclear intentions. The connection of the poem to the title of the book is that the innocent person in the poem is nature which tries to please humans but all in vain. The other section where symbolism is evident is Small Porch in the Woods. It is divided into several poems. In the first one, there is the mention of unshifting star which represents a change that is undisturbed. It is the turning point of the society. Despite the challenges communities face in their life, their ambition leads them towards achieving their objectives in life. The question assumes that there is a linear relationship between inequality and armed conflict; the rise of the former inevitably leads to the increase of the latter. However, in the absence of functioning communism or utopian egalitarianism, we need to concede that our world is full of inequalities, but not all parts of the world are equally ridden by conflict. Moreover, large N studies of civil war, conducted over the past few years, all seem to conclude that inequality is not directly linked to the risk of civil war (Collier Hoeffler, 2004: 563 595; Fearon Laitin, 2003: 75 90; Hegre, Gissinger, Gleditsch, 2003: 251 276). Mount (2008:3), classifies four different forms of inequality: political inequality, inequality of opportunities, inequality of treatment in society, inequality of membership in society. To this list we could add the, partly overlapping, categories of inequality of race, gender, status, class, age, income, inequality of access to resources, education and medical services. At any given place and time, the specific constellation and degree of various forms of inequality will be unique. Flourishing during the reign of Louis XV and disappearing toward the end of the 18th century, Rococo was a playful opposing response to the solemnity of Classicism and the grandeur of Baroque. As dominant political power was shifting from France to England, and Venice was beginning to become stale in the political sense and become more of a site for tourists, there was a chance for artistic styles to change as well Moreover, with the end of Louis XIV s reign, movement away from previously mentioned artistic styles began. Taking up residence in Paris, the aristocracy abandoned the Palace of Versailles. This move away from the monarchy in favor of the aristocracy can be seen in Rococoart, as can other elements from the time period. The actual term, rococo, comes from the French word rocaille, which means rock work .
