Mandala In The Mortal Instruments
Clarissa Fairchild A mandala is a circular visual meditation tool that is primarily used in Hindu and
Buddhist culture. The word mandala comes from the Sanskrit and means circle. The center of a
mandala is always connected to its circumference and its circumference is tied to the center. This
character analysis is about the protagonist of the very well known dramatic/fantasy novel, The Mortal
instruments: City of Bones, written by Cassandra Clare, and the character is Clarissa Fairchild, or
Clary for short. The novel is set in present day New York, and follows a 16 year old girl, whose life
turns into a mess when she sees someone getting killed, her mother gets kidnapped, and she is told
that all the stories are true , meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I chose a kitten, because kittens are mostly cute, cuddly and affectionate. They are one of the things
that make your day a lot better, with their smiles, playing, and cuddles.Loving, might be one of Clary
s strongest trait, as it is mostly the best thing about her. In the book, the most noticeable love towards
someone, is her love for her mother I love you, Clary The phone went dead Mom! (pg 45), the thing
that drove her into worry and sadness, after the unfortunate incident of her mother being kidnapped.
Clary s friends, the ones she has known forever, are also the people she loves I only loved three,
people in my life she said My mom and Luke, and you (pg 303) ( You , as in Simon, her best friend
and Luke as in her mother s friend and her second dad). Finally, someone whose love towards him
progressed throughout the book, is her love for Jace. They first formally met, when he saved her life in
her house after a demon attacked her, so he took her to The Institute (Shadowhunter HQ). They show
fondness towards each other throughout the book, ... she was somehow in the circle of his arms, and
he was kissing her. (pg 315), How swiftly you dismiss our love Jace... (pg 318). Clary s lovingness is
important, because it is one of the elements that made up a big part of her identity (but not the most

Alice In Wonderland Comparison
I have decided to choose the book Alice s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol. As a graded
version, I ve had the book from Oxford University Press, stage 2 which is 700 words. The CD version
was also available in the graded book and was retold by Jennifer Bassett. The first difference between
the two versions was the number of chapters, the original had 12 chapters whereas the graded one only
6.
After the very first chapter of the graded version, I did not find anything important missing. The
language was, of course, more simple, some of the sentences were left out, but everything important
was kept. In the second chapter, there was no conversation between Alice swimming in the pool of
tears and the animals, only two sentences were retained. The conversation continued to the third
chapter. After getting to a shore from the pool, Alice was spending time with the mouse, a duck, a lory
and an eaglet. The mouse was talking about William the Conqueror, Alice was still interrupting her,
then they were reciting a poem. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the conversation with the pigeon who denounced Alice being a serpent or egg thief , Alice went
straight to the house of the Duchess. The characters of Fish Footman and Frog Footman were also
omitted here. Surprisingly, in both books, there was the same sentence about Alice having seen a cat
without a grin, but never a grin without a cat. After visiting the Duchess and meeting the Cheshire Cat,
Alice goes on to the March Hare s tea party. In this part, the well known riddle Why is a raven like a
writing desk? changed into Why is a bird like a desk? . Personally, I can see no point in changing the
sentence and I think it was not necessary. Readers of the graded version could get confused about the
never ending tea party. In the original, the Hatter is mentioning the time as Him and tells a story about
why it s always six

Quantitative Study Critique
Group Quantitative Research Study Critique
This critique analyzes the research study, A community based exercise programme to improve
functional ability in people with Alzheimer s disease: a randomized controlled trial , by Vreugdhil,
Cannell, Davies, and Razay (2011). This critique will evaluate the research question, hypothesis, study
variables, literature review, population and sample, ethical considerations, procedures for data analysis
and collection, and the findings and conclusions. It will also synthesize the findings of the research for
application to practice.
The research question, hypothesis, and study variables were first critiqued. Although the authors did

Essay On Pregnancy Disability Leave
C. Pregnancy Disability Leave
Under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), if you are disabled by pregnancy,
childbirth or related medical conditions, you are eligible to take a pregnancy disability leave (PDL),
which is an unpaid leave. If you are affected by pregnancy or a related medical condition, you are also
eligible for reasonable accommodation (such as more frequent breaks) and/or to transfer to a less
strenuous or hazardous position or to less strenuous or hazardous duties, if medically advisable
because of your pregnancy. A pregnant employee has these rights, regardless of length of employment
or hours worked (but leave is prorated for a part time employee based on your status as compared to a
full time employee). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Introduction

2008 Richard E Murphy
This paper provides details about the Vermont Teddy Bear, Inc. s history, mission and goals; its
business situation, and its efforts to achieve profitability and a sustainable competitive advantage
(SCA) during the period from 1993 to 1998. Also included are discussions, conclusions, and
recommendations about the strategic overhaul imposed by its current CEO, Elisabeth Robert.
In 1981, John Sortino, who was inspired by his infant son to produce a teddy bear made in the United
States, founded the Vermont Teddy Bear Company. Limited production of his creations started in 1982
using five home sewers; a year later Sortino began selling the bears on the streets of Burlington, VT.
In the early years he opened a retail store in
Burlington and sold the bears through department stores such as Macy s. Bear Grams were created as
part of a marketing strategy on a local radio station that enabled customers to send a Vermont Teddy
Bear as a gift by calling the company s 800 number. The Bear Grams were a huge success and the

Behavior And Cognitive Theories Have Both Many...
In this paper, we will insure that both behavior and cognitive theories have both some similarities and
conflicts. Both require learning, however, behavior deals with a stimulus and a response such as
Skinner s experiment with rats and shocks in what is known as Skinner s box and Pavlov s experiment
with dogs and bells. For cognitive learning Piaget gave stages that humans go through from birth
through adulthood. These behavioral methods can be seen in education upon the child entering school
as the teacher deals with teaching children academics as well as how to cope with society. Vygotsky
also believed in the cognitive theory, but he believed that learning was guided by adults passing down
what they had learned to their children not only in academics but also through cultural backgrounds.
Giving children a Godly background will help them rely on him throughout their educational learning.
Not all children learn at the same pace so it is best to find which behavior pattern they are likely to
pattern from and help them succeed in this behavior. History Defined by the American Psychological
Association psychology is the study of the mind and behavior the discipline embraces all aspects of
the human experience from the functions of the brain to the actions of Nations from child
development to care for the aged (American Psychological Association, 2014). Psychology began in

How Did The Triple Entente Cause Germany War
Germany was the main cause of the war. This is because they made alliances, they had good military
help, and they were ready for war. Germany backed Austria Hungary to go to war. They did this when
they were in the Triple Alliance with Italy(13). This factored into Germany causing the war. The Triple
Entente was also a factor into Germany causing the war. The Triple Entente included Britain, France,
and Russia. With these three countries all combined, Germany and Austria Hungary were all
uneasy(13). If Germany and Austria Hungary felt uneasy, then Britain, France, and Russia were all in
danger of being attacked by Germany and Austria Hungary. The Schlieffen plan was the plan for
Germany to quickly attack France. The plan was for Russia to then move its troops to the border.
Germany would have already defeated France, and would be moving back to defeat Russia(16). The
problem with this plan, was Germany expected Russia to take six weeks to move its troops to the
border, which would be plenty of time for Germany to defeat France and get back to the border. This
was a bad estimate on Germany s part, when Russia was at the border in ten days. Germany had one
of the strongest militaries around. When Germany attacked France, another country with a strong
military, Germany must have known they had a strong army(18). Since Germany ... Show more

These people may say Britain caused the war. When Britain joined the Triple Entente, Germany was
surrounded. By being surrounded, Germany, as anyone should, felt threatened and increased their
standing military. Austria Hungary then followed in Germany s footsteps by increasing their standing
military. France then believed Germany was planning an attack on them. France then proceeded to
increase their national weapons budget. This could be true, however, Germany was the country who
attacked, while all other countries were just taking precautionary

Three Gorges Dam Research Paper
The purpose of this letter is to inform this company about the negative impacts The Three Gorges
Dam has on China. The Three Gorges Dam does not appear to outweigh the costs because of the
amount of people having to be relocated, lower water levels, and the loss of many ancient artifacts.
Some people might argue that the Three Gorges Dam is good because it improves navigation,
advances electricity, and controls floods but the negative impacts are more harmful to China s future.
Along with the hardships that are brought along with the dam China had to relocate many people and
lose almost 100,00 acres of land. These citizens had very good land to live on but when the
construction of the dam began they were ordered to move to a new place. The land ... Show more

Over 1,000 sites and artifacts were lost or submerged under the water. One of the most famous items
that were buried was the Giant Buddha Statue. According to an Excerpt from the Great Wall Across
the Yangtze it says, A massive sculpture of the seated Buddha rests in the yellowish sandstone cliffs at
Single Pebble Village just east of Chongqing. When the tide is high, the statue s base is flooded, and
there are watermarks indicating various water levels on the Buddha s feet, legs, and lower belly. Due
to all this flooding this ancient statue might be lost if it is not lifted out of the water. According to the
article Flood Control some individuals might argue that there is no need to worry about artifacts but
that is incorrect. If many of the artifacts are lost, the future generations of China will never have a
primary learning experience of these items. They will not have pictures of the artifacts, just words to
describe them. Imagine how the children will perish from not knowing their past. Another famous
artifact that has been lost due to the flooding is the temple from the Ming Temple. This temple is
called the Shibaozhai Temple. According an excerpt from Great Wall Across the Yangtze it states,
Called the Pearl of the Yangtze, the 12 story wooden pagoda rises to a height of 183 feet. An

The Suez Crisis and Sir Antony Eden
The Suez Crisis is often cited by some historians as one of the worst historical decisions that imprinted
an indelible mark on the then British premier Sir Antony Eden. More often than not the decision by
Eden to invade Egypt following a disagreement about nationalization of the Suez Canal is often cited
as a the worst foreign policy decision that destroyed Eden political career and humiliated British
empire in its wake. The decision by Eden to use military force against Nasser is often viewed by many
as arising from a personal grudge towards Nasser, while only a few defend the fact that Eden had
attempted to resolve the looming conflict peacefully.
A Brief Introduction about Sir Robert Antony Eden It is unfortunate that despite Sir Antony Eden
having successfully served as Britain for three decades as a foreign secretary and his subsequent rise
to become the British prime minister in 1955 was overshadowed by the 1956 Suez Crisis that saw him
tender his resignation after serving approximately 18 months in office. While justifying this action,
Eden cited that he was protecting British commercial interests of which the recent nationalization of
the Suez Canal by Nasser seemed to threaten. Eden strongly perceived Nasser as a dictator and that his
actions could easily be replicated with the actions of Hitler and Mussolini that subsequently ignited
World War.
Born to a baronet in County Durham on 12 June 1987, Antony Eden was educated at Eton and oxford

Blocking Gmo s A Crime Against Humanity
Blocking GMO s A Crime Against Humanity One of the most controversial topics of our time is GM
technology (GMO). Is it safe or not? The emotive nature of this topic is justified considering the fact
that food is paramount to human well being; all claims should be carefully examined. However,
modern scientific studies contradict commonly held opinions opposing GMO s which are in fact
founded on myths and misinformation. There are currently 2000 peer reviewed reports which
document the safety and wholesomeness of GM foods. (Genera.2014) My goal in this paper is to help
open dialogs between activists and the scientific community. Green activists and privileged world
citizens deny life and health to millions when they block the progress and use of genetic modification.
To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into four sections and two sub sections. I will begin
with and brief description and summary of GMO s and the scientific consensus on the safety and
efficacy of this technology, public opinion that contradicts the science community and the origins of
misinformation. Next I will talk about why GMO s are a major component in solving food insecurity,
death, sickness and poverty. In the third section of this paper involves the efforts of green campaigners
who undermine science and block GMO technology. To conclude, I will provide examples of the
reality of food insecurity worldwide and highlight one significant area to focus resolution efforts,
Golden Rice. I

students are now able to make life altering choices on their own.
 The presentations on alcohol and drugs and safe sex because it s never too late to learn about those
things or it s always good to be reminded.
 The resources that the campus offers.

 Sex Ed. presentation.
 The presentation about the various office and center provided on campus.
 Smith Career Center because it s a really helpful resource that I feel like many students forget to

 The Smith Career Center because in the future it s going to be very helpful for us students.
 B.A.D. because they really explain how to get involved and have events to meet new students.
 The Smith Career Center is beneficial to future students because it allows them to think about what
future job they might want to do.
 Sex Ed. A mistake could be very bad.
 All of the topics are beneficial. They helped to understand the pros and cons, or provided a how to

Gpr Structure
The understanding and studying of the GPCR structure is very important for designing the right drugs.
Studies have shown that some of the GPCRs are not pоtential drug targets because their physiological
function cannot be related to disease. Such GPCRs include the sensоry (olfactory, taste) receptоrs and
thus, leave 369 GPCRs that are pоtential drug targets (Gloriam et al., 2007). 46 of these are being
targeted successfully by drugs the rhodopsin , secretin and glutamate like receptor families. β

Rimonabant is an agent that is an inverse agonist of the CB1 receptor but is known to have antagonist
actions. As a result of those actions it reduces obesity and smoking cessation but has side effects such
as nausea, emesis, depression and anxiety (Despres et al., 2005) which were shown to be the opposite
effects of CB1 agonists. Therefore, novel drugs might be neutral antagonists and it has been suggested
that they would not cause such side effects. Laboratory studies provided evidence that inverse agonists
(e.g. rimonabant) reduce fооd intake and body weight, but cause gastrointestinal side effects in rats,
while neutral antagonists (e.g. AM6545, AM4113) also reduce fооd intake and weight, but do not
cause such adverse side effects in the same animal models (Cluny et al., 2010; Cluny et al., 2011).
Therefore, neutral antagonists are thought to be potential drugs for GPCRs, if acting without any side
effects (in the case of CB1 provide action like rimonabant but do not cause gastrointestinal irritation
or alter mood), but more studies and experiments need to be done in order to provide evidence and
release such drugs on the

Tony Kushner s Angels Of America
According to Tony Kushner in his dramatic play, Angels of America, Kushner uses angels and religion
to help develop the characters afflicted by it as well carry them through the entire play and reach some
sort of enlightenment. Spirituality is a big thing within Angels in America, and Angels are one of
them. Harper: When you look at the ozone layer, from outside, from a spaceship, it looks like a pale
blue halo [...]. It s a gift, from God, the crowning touch to the creation of the world: guardian angels,
hands linked [...] a shell of safety for life itself. (Kushner) To Harper, the Angel s are there to protect
and watch over us. Being raised Mormon, Harper sees things through a spiritual lens. The ozone is not
just a scientific fact but something that God gave to us as a gift, and the halo are not only gases but
angels. Yet, to Prior, they re a symbol of death. When Prior reveals his lesion he calls them, the wine
dark kiss of the angel of death (Kushner). It s a complete contrast to what Harper believes, it could be
that fact Prior is not religious or because of the circumstance Prior is in. In general, angels are so far
portrayed as protects and destroyers of mankind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Emancipation Of Thought From Myth Summary
The Emancipation of Thought from Myth (1946) is an essay written by J Barnes which explains the
theories of philosophical and mythopoeic thinking in reference to the Pre Socratics influence in human
knowledge of thinking. Throughout this essay I will be explaining the concepts of philosophical and
mythopoeic thinking and how they were related to the Pre Socratics. In addition to that I will elaborate
on who they initially were by referring to specific thinkers. Thereafter in conclusion I will enlighten
on why the Pre Socratics (600BC 470BC) were regarded as philosophical thinkers rather than
mythopoeic.

Analysis On The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System
The integrated geophysical, remote sensing, isotopic and geochronologic and modelling studies on the
Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System have come up with the following findings and recommendations:
1 Geophysical studies:
Based on the integration of gravity, magnetic, and borehole data the structural trends, uplifts and
sedimentary cover affecting the aquifer behavior have been conducted. The area of the NSAS is
affected by several structural trends in different directions; the most prominent directions are NE SW,
N S, E W, and NW SE. The dominant NE SW trend is associated with the Pelusium and Qattara mega
shears.
The sedimentary cover shows a northward increase from less than 0.5 km in northern Sudan and
southern Egypt to more than 6 km at the Mediterranean coast. The sediments thickness shows a
shallowing of the basement rocks along the east west trending Uweinat Aswan basement uplift which
may impede the south to north groundwater flow and replenishment from the recharge areas in the
south.
The NE SW trending Pelusium mega shear cuts the Precambrian rocks and continues upward in the
sedimentary cover; it formed deep structural controlled basins along its zone, which were filled by
high thick sediments of relatively high hydraulic conductivities extending from the Kufra Basin in
Libya and Chad to the northern part of Dakhla Basin in Egypt. This zone could provide a preferred
groundwater flow pathway from the Kufra to the Dakhla Basin.

show; therefore after criticizing her Paula went and ended her life near one of the judge s homes.
Some people disagree with Reality TV being detrimental. In The Case for Reality TV Michael
Hirschorn argues why Reality TV is beneficial to society. He begins by saying more people had
watched American Idol, the previous week than the state of the union address on the broad cast
networks combined. Hirschorn states that Reality TV is the liveliest genre on the set right now and has
addressed a visceral need for a different kind of television at a time when the Web has made more
traditionally produced video seem as stagey as Moliere. That Reality TV shows can leave behind the
story structure and pacing of scripted television and also filter out the canned plots and characters. He
also argues that Reality TV can place real people in artificial surrounding designed for maximum
emotional impact, and at the

Upton Sinclair s The Jungle Essay
For centuries immigrants have left their homes and have journeyed to the United States in pursuit to
live out the American Dream , an idea that the U.S. will provide people with a better life. However,
this better life was not just given upon arrival, immigrants were not told the horrid experiences, and
backbreaking hour, they would face in search for a better life. There is no better representation of this
than Upton Sinclair s The Jungle, this book is a very accurate representation of the life of the vast
majority of people within the United States. During the time when this book was written there were
few jobs, and the jobs that were obtainable were mostly factory jobs with horrible conditions that
entailed excruciating hours. Aside from the dangerous conditions, the pay was next to nothing making
it near impossible to afford food and shelter, let alone providing for a family. Immigrants quickly
found out that the American Dream was not the glorified vision that they thought, rather more like the
song Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses . After examining the lyrics, you can tell the similarities
Axl Rose and the rest of Guns N Roses were facing as they tried to make it in the music industry. In
the jungle, welcome to jungle, watch it bring you to your knees, I wanna watch you bleed, once you
get to the U.S. you ll get ripped down to almost nothing and suffer from the horrible conditions that
you are faced with. The Jungle takes all of the issues immigrants

Man and Nature after the Fall in John Milton s Paradise Lost
Man and Nature after the Fall in Paradise Lost
In Paradise Lost, the consequences of the fall and the change in relations between man and nature can
best be discussed when we look at Milton s pre fall descriptions of Eden and its inhabitants. Believing
that fallen humans could never fully understand what life was like in Eden and the relationships purely
innocent beings shared, Milton begins his depiction of Paradise and Adam and Eve through the fallen
eyes of Satan:
So little knows
Any, but God alone, to value right
The good before him, but perverts best things
To worse abuse, or to thir meanest use.
Beneath him with new wonder now he views
To all delight of human sense expos d
In narrow room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Adam and Eve are tall and erect like the trees, pure and nude, uncovered like the rural landscape.
Adam s hair cut short, almost as if the pair had pruned it. Eve s body seems to be supported by the
garden, but her hair is described as wild, unadorned and wanton, not unlike the landscape outside of
Eden: Steep wilderness, whose hairy sides/ With thicket overgrown, grotesque and wild... (IV, 135

With special care and a watchful eye the Eden will not smother itself, just as Adam and Eve are safe
from Satan when they are together. When Eve leaves Adam, she is tempted by the Serpent and decides
to eat the forbidden fruit. When this happens, the earth feels the fall profoundly:
So saying, her rash hand in evil hour

Compare And Contrast Snow White And Ravenna
By fairest blood it is done, by fairest blood it is undone Snow white and the huntsman is the battle
between beauty and innocence for fairest blood. This is a four star dark twist to the traditional fairy
tale of the orphaned princess, Snow White (Kristen Stewart), and her escape from her step mother and
evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). From the producers of Alice and the Wonderland, An Evil
Queen, Ravenna, tricks, seduces, and kills the king; she takes the kingdom and rules with intimidation
and magic. She draws her life force and youth from magic which is fuelled by the draining of other
beautiful young hearts and souls. Her life is to be the fairest in all of the land yet another has come of
age to surpass even the strongest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the role she played in twilight, she has no other main characters to hold her up. She drains the
personality from Snow White in addition to the lack of importance felt in her character. This is
predominantly seen in the fight to the death scene with Snow White and Ravenna. While Theron oozes
fire and elegance, Stuart can t seem to capture a believable character. Snow White is supposed to be
innocence and humility in contrast to the Queens magic and pride. Her sharp angled face, greasy
voice, and empty facial expressions she was a flawed choice by the directors. Drunk, bitter and half
dead. The gorgeous Chris Hemsworth plays the in between of life and death as the Huntsman. Once
being a small point in the original brothers Grimm fairy tale, Hemsworth s huntsman has created a
new take on the contrast between the two main roles. This is greatly shown when he is pulled out of a
dirty tub of water with a hangover and a debt and he is brought to the queen s throne. When the queen
s guards draw spears against him he says Do me the favour, I beg of you. He can t stand to be alive
because the Queens magic killed his wife for her youth. Finn tells the Huntsman She screamed your
name but you weren t there. Now you can beg her forgiveness in the other world. Now as Snow White
lay dead the Huntsman begs for forgiveness from her I m so sorry I failed you. I m

Smoothie Monologue
Smoothie Bae
Little over a year and a half ago, I began my employment at the local Freeburg Dairy Queen. Newly
turned sixteen and fresh on the training block, I was focused on learning the ropes and not so much the
customers. That was when one guy, I would soon learn to be a regular, sauntered in through the door.
Of course being a girl, any hot guy that comes through the door is bound to catch one s eye, but he had
completely captured my heart. Only sixteen and yet to hit puberty, I always knew there would never
be a chance of an us, except that is until a single note changed the game. I watched him come and go
every single shift I worked for months and never once did he cease to lose my attention. I was
infatuated with him, to say the least. I ll forever remember his order, $8.51 for two large triple berry
smoothies, blended twice to ensure a silky smooth texture. That s when I pegged him with the
nickname of Smoothie Bae as his smoothie obsession became quite clear to see with each passing
visit. Before I had even begun my training for register I would make it a habit to always make his
smoothies for him. Then eventually when I was able to work a register I made a new habit to not only

Miss Strangeworth s Character
Sometimes people aren t what they seem. Miss Strangeworth seems to be one thing. However, in the
story The Possibility of Evil by Shirly Jackson, we learn some surprising things about her character.
Miss Strangeworth s character can be analyzed by considering what she does, what the narrator says
about her, and how other characters interact with her.
The first way Miss Strangeworth s character can be analyzed is by considering what she does. Judging
by her actions in the story, Miss Strangeworth is friendly. For instance, she greets everyone she sees
each morning. The story states, Walking down Main Street on a summer morning, Miss Strangeworth
had to stop every minute or so to say good morning to someone or ... Show more content on

By watching the way other characters interact with her, you can see that Miss Strangeworth is rude.
You can see this in the way many of the characters seem as though they don t want to talk to her. For
instance, when Miss Strangeworth asks Mrs. Harper if she s feeling well, Mrs. Harper responds
shortly, I m perfectly alright. By telling us that she responds shortly, the story allows the reader to see
that Mrs. Harper doesn t seem to enjoy talking to Miss Strangeworth. Also, as Miss Strangeworth was
walking down the street, she passed a group of kids, we see that ass she passed, Some of the older
children greeted her, saying soberly, Hello Miss Strangeworth . The word soberly used in the sentence
makes it seem like they only spoke to her out of respect rather than because they wanted to. Without a
doubt, you can conclude from the way other characters interact with her that Miss Strangeworth is
rude.
Miss Strangeworth s character can be analyzed by considering what she does, what the narrator says

How Does Liliana Heker Use Third Person In The Stolen Party
Intro In the Stolen Party by Liliana Heker she used third person limited. In the next few paragraphs I
will explain why and when she used it. In The Stolen Party the author Liliana Heker used third person
limited point of view to make the surprise bigger for us and it lets us experience it the way Rosaura is.
It also makes the story more exciting because we only know what Rosaura is thinking and we only
know what she is feeling not what her mother is feeling or thinking. So we are more clueless to what
is going on then if she did not use third person limited. A reason for using third person limited point of
view is to have a bigger surprise in the story at the end. So when Senora Ines gives Rosaura the money

Summary Of A Long Way Gone And The Bite Of The Mango
A Long Way Gone and The Bite of the Mango are two stories written about the same war and its
effects from the two different perspectives of a young boy, Ishmael and a young girl, Mariatu.
Although both novels have their differences, when compared, they come together to create a wider
understanding of how the civil war in Sierra Leone affected all kinds of people in ways both
comparable and dissimilar. In both The Bite of the Mango and A Long Way Gone, main characters
Mariatu and Ishmael are forced to mature at an extreme pace by going through several, very different
experiences caused by the same war. In the majority of The Bite of the Mango, Mariatu is at the young
age of fourteen, but before then, she is just twelve years old, living in Sierra Leone with her family.
When talk about the war begins to spread throughout her town, the citizens begin a practice put in
place in case of a raid by the rebels. The first time it happened, we abandoned our homes and took
nothing with us, hiding in the bush for several days as we listened to our stomachs moan in hunger
(Kamara and McClelland 19). During these drills, they would hear word spread about rebels nearby,
then pack some things in a bag, leave their homes and hide in bushes for days on end, sometimes
starving themselves for fear of coming out and being raided by the rebels. However, her childhood is
ripped away from her abruptly when she is raped by a close family friend. This is when she faces her
first traumatic

TITLE?
When students are in an English Class they will read different novels or stories throughout the course.
When they read them there is always two stories they would like to compare and contrast. By
analyzing A Clean Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway specifically these literary devices theme,
setting, and tone, the reader can better understand Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour. Both of these
short stories are can be compared and contrasted in many different ways. Hemingway s A Clean Well
Lighted Place theme in his short story shows how to better understand the theme of Story Of An Hour
. Both of the of these short stories have the concept of The emptiness of life. For the old man and the
older waiter, life is empty of meaning, purpose, and joy. Both try to fill the emptiness they have within
themselves .The old man with alcohol and/or the cafe as well, and the waiter with the bright light of a
clean cafe. Neither wants to go home, for home offers nothing or, as the waiter says in Spanish nada.
In the short story the quote that best represents the emptiness of life is It was nothing that he knew too
well. It was all nothing and a man was nothing too. In fact, everything is nada to him. Religion offers
him no comfort, for he thinks religion is nada too. The old man sought comfort in death when he tried
to hang himself in his home, but the niece who

Identification And Identification Of Fingerprints
Exactly how unique are fingerprints ?
Background
Fingerprint classification was first introduced by Jan Evangelista Purkinje in 1823 as described in the
article Clinics to Dermatology. Fingerprints have since been used in the forensic science world as an
accepted tool in criminology and used for the identification of people. Fingerprints was built on the
theory that all fingerprints are unique, no two are alike. Thus fingerprints are considered a type of
individual evidence, evidence that can pinpoint a specific person Purkinje, a Czech physiologist,
divided the lines found in a fingerprint into nine types, each based on their geometric arrangement.
Every human being is said to have a different combination of shapes and lines thus making ... Show

A fingerprint is defined by Mark R Hawthorne in Fingerprints: Analysis and understanding as the
impression or reproduction left on any material by the friction skin of the fingers, Most often we see
the impression left by fingertips or the bulb of the finer (pg.19). Minutiae is a term often used when
discussing fingerprints which refers to the major features of a fingerprint, using which comparisons of
one print with another can be made.
Fingerprint Database
When forensic scientists look at fingerprints there is no set number as to exactly how many
characteristics of a fingerprints, or it s minutiae they have to look at. Currently the FBI recommends
look at twelve minutiae twelve different sites or points in a print. When a fingerprint is found at a
crime scene it is usually first ran the the fingerprint identification system to see it can find any

Respondeant superior is derived from the Latin word which means let the master answer. Respondeat

employer principal legally responsibility of any wrongful deeds made by an employee especially when
such scope happens within the area of the employment.

Comparison of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Austen’s...
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet and Austen s Pride and prejudice are two completely different texts as
one dialogue to represent feelings of love, whereas the other novel which uses description of the
characters feelings to portray strong love. Shakespeare s wrote the famous love story in English
literature in the 17th century whereas Austen lived in the 19th century which I believe contributes to
their views on love and the time they lived in affects their characters and techniques of writing.
Romeo and Juliet explore love and tragedy when the two protagonists fall in love except they come
from families which have extreme dispute and hatred between each other. However they are so much
in love they go against and disregard their family s rivalry and marry despite the fact that the story
ends in catastrophe as their love is so strong that are prepared to die for each other and so they do.
Whilst in pride and prejudice we explore two protagonists Elizabeth Bennet who is seen as an
intelligent young women with a lively wit which enables her to pervade her class and spiteful society
she lives ain on the other hand we have a wealthy, proud gentlemen who earns £10,000 a year so they
have different status society however they come to realise their similarities in their characteristics and
overcome the social barriers which consequences to them falling in love and marrying.
Shakespeare starts of by introducing the ideas of strong love from the phrase Star crossed lovers`

Peter s Influence On Russian Culture
Peter the Great ushered in a new era for Russian leadership rather than focusing on the grabs for
power characterized by the False Dmitry period, and rather than focusing on the cleansing
characterized by Ivan the Terrible, Peter sought to move Russia beyond these power struggles into an
era where Russia would be revered as a modern global power, on par with Western European powers
of the time. To achieve this goal, Peter turned to Europe to study their advancements especially in the
areas of engineering and governance. As Dr. Pesenson explained in class, Peter embarked on what he
called the Great Embassy , wherein he, along with other young male members of the court, took a tour
of Europe to learn about their traditions and customs. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Urban life changed significantly under Peter s reign the banning of beards and the required wearing of
Western dress allowed for the image of Russian culture to change and this proved to be an apt
metaphor for all of Peter s reforms: they only superficially advanced Russian culture. Just as
Petersburg and Moscow built great buildings in the style of the Dutch and Italian, just as Petersburg
and Moscow saw the adoption of French as a common language, just as Petersburg and Moscow were
introduced to opera and painting of the European style; the peasantry s life remained the same.
Without access to education, they could not take advantage of the court s cultural exchanges; without
freedom from serfdom, the Table of Ranks was utterly useless to the very class that would benefit
most from it. Peter started Russia on a promising but ultimately less than fruitful path: even though
they grew to look more and more like Europe, the vast majority of Russians, the peasantry, saw no real
reform, no real change, and so Peter s goal to become more like Europe fell flat due to this lack of
empowerment of the lower classes that would spread throughout Western Europe for the entire 18th

Western Influence On Africa
Throughout history, Africa has been a vulnerable player in the eyes of the rest of the world. From the
slave trade to various civil right injustices that have taken place over in every century, we have studied
in this class, we have been able to see the lasting impact on the continent as a ramification of certain
events occurring. Using sources from the text, I will attempt to prove how the western world,
exercised their power to capitalize on the African continent, in addition to the exploitation of the
African people and land.
We begin with the early origins of Africa, and the civilizations in place before, the Western world had
an influence on them. Africa like the other continents had its array of civilizations set up in the
different nation states, their own power systems, economy, and way of living, ways that differed, but
resembled other civilizations as well. In validating this claim, I will be looking and analyzing the
source, Ibn, Battuta, Visit from Mombasa and Kila, Rhila (c. 1358). The source is an account by Ibn
Battuta, who was a scholar from Morocco, who is known for his travels to different lands, over a 30
year period of time. In this source, he visits the Swahili coast of Mombasa and ends his trip in Kilwa,
a city in modern day Tanzania. It is here we see the initial state of some of the nation states in Africa,
Battuta described the two cities the city of Kulwa is amongst the most beautiful of cities, and most
elegantly built (57). The description

  • 2. Mandala In The Mortal Instruments Clarissa Fairchild A mandala is a circular visual meditation tool that is primarily used in Hindu and Buddhist culture. The word mandala comes from the Sanskrit and means circle. The center of a mandala is always connected to its circumference and its circumference is tied to the center. This character analysis is about the protagonist of the very well known dramatic/fantasy novel, The Mortal instruments: City of Bones, written by Cassandra Clare, and the character is Clarissa Fairchild, or Clary for short. The novel is set in present day New York, and follows a 16 year old girl, whose life turns into a mess when she sees someone getting killed, her mother gets kidnapped, and she is told that all the stories are true , meaning ... In the book, the most noticeable love towards someone, is her love for her mother I love you, Clary The phone went dead Mom! Clary s friends, the ones she has known forever, are also the people she loves I only loved three, people in my life she said My mom and Luke, and you (pg 303) ( You , as in Simon, her best friend and Luke as in her mother s friend and her second dad). • 3. Alice In Wonderland Comparison I have decided to choose the book Alice s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol. As a graded version, I ve had the book from Oxford University Press, stage 2 which is 700 words. The CD version was also available in the graded book and was retold by Jennifer Bassett. The first difference between the two versions was the number of chapters, the original had 12 chapters whereas the graded one only 6. After the very first chapter of the graded version, I did not find anything important missing. The language was, of course, more simple, some of the sentences were left out, but everything important was kept. In the second chapter, there was no conversation between Alice swimming in the pool of tears and the animals, only two sentences were retained. The conversation continued to the third chapter. After getting to a shore from the pool, Alice was spending time with the mouse, a duck, a lory and an eaglet. The mouse was talking about William the Conqueror, Alice was still interrupting her, then they were reciting a poem. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the conversation with the pigeon who denounced Alice being a serpent or egg thief , Alice went straight to the house of the Duchess. The characters of Fish Footman and Frog Footman were also omitted here. Surprisingly, in both books, there was the same sentence about Alice having seen a cat without a grin, but never a grin without a cat. After visiting the Duchess and meeting the Cheshire Cat, Alice goes on to the March Hare s tea party. In this part, the well known riddle Why is a raven like a writing desk? changed into Why is a bird like a desk? . Personally, I can see no point in changing the sentence and I think it was not necessary. Readers of the graded version could get confused about the never ending tea party. • 8. Behavior And Cognitive Theories Have Both Many... In this paper, we will insure that both behavior and cognitive theories have both some similarities and conflicts. Both require learning, however, behavior deals with a stimulus and a response such as Skinner s experiment with rats and shocks in what is known as Skinner s box and Pavlov s experiment with dogs and bells. For cognitive learning Piaget gave stages that humans go through from birth through adulthood. These behavioral methods can be seen in education upon the child entering school as the teacher deals with teaching children academics as well as how to cope with society. Vygotsky also believed in the cognitive theory, but he believed that learning was guided by adults passing down what they had learned to their children not only in academics but also through cultural backgrounds. Giving children a Godly background will help them rely on him throughout their educational learning. Not all children learn at the same pace so it is best to find which behavior pattern they are likely to pattern from and help them succeed in this behavior. History Defined by the American Psychological Association psychology is the study of the mind and behavior the discipline embraces all aspects of the human experience from the functions of the brain to the actions of Nations from child development to care for the aged (American Psychological Association, 2014). • 9. How Did The Triple Entente Cause Germany War Germany was the main cause of the war. This is because they made alliances, they had good military help, and they were ready for war. Germany backed Austria Hungary to go to war. They did this when they were in the Triple Alliance with Italy(13). This factored into Germany causing the war. The Triple Entente was also a factor into Germany causing the war. The Triple Entente included Britain, France, and Russia. With these three countries all combined, Germany and Austria Hungary were all uneasy(13). If Germany and Austria Hungary felt uneasy, then Britain, France, and Russia were all in danger of being attacked by Germany and Austria Hungary. The Schlieffen plan was the plan for Germany to quickly attack France. The plan was for Russia to then move its troops to the border. Germany would have already defeated France, and would be moving back to defeat Russia(16). The problem with this plan, was Germany expected Russia to take six weeks to move its troops to the border, which would be plenty of time for Germany to defeat France and get back to the border. This was a bad estimate on Germany s part, when Russia was at the border in ten days. Germany had one of the strongest militaries around. When Germany attacked France, another country with a strong military, Germany must have known they had a strong army(18). Since Germany ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Three Gorges Dam does not appear to outweigh the costs because of the amount of people having to be relocated, lower water levels, and the loss of many ancient artifacts. Some people might argue that the Three Gorges Dam is good because it improves navigation, advances electricity, and controls floods but the negative impacts are more harmful to China s future. Along with the hardships that are brought along with the dam China had to relocate many people and lose almost 100,00 acres of land. Over 1,000 sites and artifacts were lost or submerged under the water. One of the most famous items that were buried was the Giant Buddha Statue. According to an Excerpt from the Great Wall Across the Yangtze it says, A massive sculpture of the seated Buddha rests in the yellowish sandstone cliffs at Single Pebble Village just east of Chongqing. When the tide is high, the statue s base is flooded, and there are watermarks indicating various water levels on the Buddha s feet, legs, and lower belly. Due to all this flooding this ancient statue might be lost if it is not lifted out of the water. According to the article Flood Control some individuals might argue that there is no need to worry about artifacts but that is incorrect. If many of the artifacts are lost, the future generations of China will never have a primary learning experience of these items. They will not have pictures of the artifacts, just words to describe them. Imagine how the children will perish from not knowing their past. • 11. The Suez Crisis and Sir Antony Eden The Suez Crisis is often cited by some historians as one of the worst historical decisions that imprinted an indelible mark on the then British premier Sir Antony Eden. More often than not the decision by Eden to invade Egypt following a disagreement about nationalization of the Suez Canal is often cited as a the worst foreign policy decision that destroyed Eden political career and humiliated British empire in its wake. The decision by Eden to use military force against Nasser is often viewed by many as arising from a personal grudge towards Nasser, while only a few defend the fact that Eden had attempted to resolve the looming conflict peacefully. A Brief Introduction about Sir Robert Antony Eden It is unfortunate that despite Sir Antony Eden having successfully served as Britain for three decades as a foreign secretary and his subsequent rise to become the British prime minister in 1955 was overshadowed by the 1956 Suez Crisis that saw him tender his resignation after serving approximately 18 months in office. While justifying this action, Eden cited that he was protecting British commercial interests of which the recent nationalization of the Suez Canal by Nasser seemed to threaten. Eden strongly perceived Nasser as a dictator and that his actions could easily be replicated with the actions of Hitler and Mussolini that subsequently ignited World War. Born to a baronet in County Durham on 12 June 1987, Antony Eden was educated at Eton and oxford where he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Blocking Gmo s A Crime Against Humanity Blocking GMO s A Crime Against Humanity One of the most controversial topics of our time is GM technology (GMO). Is it safe or not? The emotive nature of this topic is justified considering the fact that food is paramount to human well being; all claims should be carefully examined. However, modern scientific studies contradict commonly held opinions opposing GMO s which are in fact founded on myths and misinformation. There are currently 2000 peer reviewed reports which document the safety and wholesomeness of GM foods. (Genera.2014) My goal in this paper is to help open dialogs between activists and the scientific community. Green activists and privileged world citizens deny life and health to millions when they block the progress and use of genetic modification. To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into four sections and two sub sections. I will begin with and brief description and summary of GMO s and the scientific consensus on the safety and efficacy of this technology, public opinion that contradicts the science community and the origins of misinformation. Next I will talk about why GMO s are a major component in solving food insecurity, death, sickness and poverty. In the third section of this paper involves the efforts of green campaigners who undermine science and block GMO technology. To conclude, I will provide examples of the reality of food insecurity worldwide and highlight one significant area to focus resolution efforts, Golden Rice. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result of those actions it reduces obesity and smoking cessation but has side effects such as nausea, emesis, depression and anxiety (Despres et al., 2005) which were shown to be the opposite effects of CB1 agonists. Therefore, novel drugs might be neutral antagonists and it has been suggested that they would not cause such side effects. Laboratory studies provided evidence that inverse agonists (e.g. rimonabant) reduce fооd intake and body weight, but cause gastrointestinal side effects in rats, while neutral antagonists (e.g. AM6545, AM4113) also reduce fооd intake and weight, but do not cause such adverse side effects in the same animal models (Cluny et al., 2010; Cluny et al., 2011). Therefore, neutral antagonists are thought to be potential drugs for GPCRs, if acting without any side effects (in the case of CB1 provide action like rimonabant but do not cause gastrointestinal irritation or alter mood), but more studies and experiments need to be done in order to provide evidence and release such drugs on the ... • 20. Analysis On The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System The integrated geophysical, remote sensing, isotopic and geochronologic and modelling studies on the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System have come up with the following findings and recommendations: 1 Geophysical studies: Based on the integration of gravity, magnetic, and borehole data the structural trends, uplifts and sedimentary cover affecting the aquifer behavior have been conducted. The area of the NSAS is affected by several structural trends in different directions; the most prominent directions are NE SW, N S, E W, and NW SE. The dominant NE SW trend is associated with the Pelusium and Qattara mega shears. The sedimentary cover shows a northward increase from less than 0.5 km in northern Sudan and southern Egypt to more than 6 km at the Mediterranean coast. The sediments thickness shows a shallowing of the basement rocks along the east west trending Uweinat Aswan basement uplift which may impede the south to north groundwater flow and replenishment from the recharge areas in the south. The NE SW trending Pelusium mega shear cuts the Precambrian rocks and continues upward in the sedimentary cover; it formed deep structural controlled basins along its zone, which were filled by high thick sediments of relatively high hydraulic conductivities extending from the Kufra Basin in Libya and Chad to the northern part of Dakhla Basin in Egypt. This zone could provide a preferred groundwater flow pathway from the Kufra to the Dakhla Basin. 2 Climatically (GRACE CLM4.5): ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upton Sinclair s The Jungle Essay For centuries immigrants have left their homes and have journeyed to the United States in pursuit to live out the American Dream , an idea that the U.S. will provide people with a better life. However, this better life was not just given upon arrival, immigrants were not told the horrid experiences, and backbreaking hour, they would face in search for a better life. There is no better representation of this than Upton Sinclair s The Jungle, this book is a very accurate representation of the life of the vast majority of people within the United States. During the time when this book was written there were few jobs, and the jobs that were obtainable were mostly factory jobs with horrible conditions that entailed excruciating hours. Aside from the dangerous conditions, the pay was next to nothing making it near impossible to afford food and shelter, let alone providing for a family. Immigrants quickly found out that the American Dream was not the glorified vision that they thought, rather more like the song Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses . After examining the lyrics, you can tell the similarities Axl Rose and the rest of Guns N Roses were facing as they tried to make it in the music industry. In the jungle, welcome to jungle, watch it bring you to your knees, I wanna watch you bleed, once you get to the U.S. you ll get ripped down to almost nothing and suffer from the horrible conditions that you are faced with. Summary Of A Long Way Gone And The Bite Of The Mango A Long Way Gone and The Bite of the Mango are two stories written about the same war and its effects from the two different perspectives of a young boy, Ishmael and a young girl, Mariatu. Although both novels have their differences, when compared, they come together to create a wider understanding of how the civil war in Sierra Leone affected all kinds of people in ways both comparable and dissimilar. In both The Bite of the Mango and A Long Way Gone, main characters Mariatu and Ishmael are forced to mature at an extreme pace by going through several, very different experiences caused by the same war. In the majority of The Bite of the Mango, Mariatu is at the young age of fourteen, but before then, she is just twelve years old, living in Sierra Leone with her family. When talk about the war begins to spread throughout her town, the citizens begin a practice put in place in case of a raid by the rebels. The first time it happened, we abandoned our homes and took nothing with us, hiding in the bush for several days as we listened to our stomachs moan in hunger (Kamara and McClelland 19). During these drills, they would hear word spread about rebels nearby, then pack some things in a bag, leave their homes and hide in bushes for days on end, sometimes starving themselves for fear of coming out and being raided by the rebels. From the slave trade to various civil right injustices that have taken place over in every century, we have studied in this class, we have been able to see the lasting impact on the continent as a ramification of certain events occurring. Using sources from the text, I will attempt to prove how the western world, exercised their power to capitalize on the African continent, in addition to the exploitation of the African people and land.
