Father of Demonstration method
Dr. Seaman A. Knapp
 He said that what a man hears, he may
doubt; what he sees he may doubt; but
what he does, he cannot doubt.
 So he suggest that it is not enough to
explain.
 In demonstration, the learner must
actually “do” or experience the concept,
and more importantly be able to apply
what is learned.
Demonstration is
‘an act of showing something by
giving proof or evidence’.
‘an instance of somebody showing
and explaining how something works or is
done’.
What is demonstration method?
 Demonstration method is a visual
approach to examining information,
ideas and processes.
 It is a teaching method that allows
students to see the teacher actively
engaged as a learner and a model
rather than merely telling them what
they need to know.
Requirements of good demonstration
Planning
Apparatus should be big enough
Lighting arrangements
Apparatus should be placed in order before starting the
demonstration
Clear statement
Interesting
Teacher demonstrates with materials or things should be the
student handles in everyday life.
For active participation of students the teacher may call individual
students in turn to help in demonstration.
Purpose of demonstration
Showing method and technique
Applying a concept
Solving problems
Reviewing ideas
Advantages of demonstration
Student participation
Save time
Easy to understand
It help student acquire knowledge,
skill and attitude.
Improve attention

Disadvantages of demonstration

and organized carefully, if it does not done
