Definition Essay Hero
Crafting an essay on the topic of a "Definition Essay Hero" is no easy feat. The difficulty lies not
only in the intricate task of defining what a hero is but also in the challenge of encapsulating the
diverse perceptions and interpretations of heroism that exist across different cultures, time
periods, and personal experiences.
To begin with, the term "hero" is laden with subjective connotations. What might be heroic to
one person could be perceived differently by another. Unraveling the layers of heroism involves
delving into historical contexts, cultural influences, and the evolution of societal values. This
requires meticulous research to provide a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted
nature of heroism.
Moreover, the concept of a hero is not static; it transforms over time, adapting to the shifting
norms and expectations of society. Pinning down a concrete definition becomes a dynamic
challenge as one must navigate through the fluidity of language and the ever-changing landscape
of human values.
The process of writing such an essay demands a delicate balance between generalization and
specificity. The task involves more than merely offering a dictionary-style definition; it
necessitates the exploration of real-life examples, literary characters, and historical figures to
illustrate the various facets of heroism. Crafting a coherent and convincing argument that
seamlessly weaves together these diverse elements requires analytical skills and a nuanced
understanding of the subject matter.
Furthermore, the essay must engage the reader on an emotional level, prompting them to reflect
on their own beliefs and perceptions of heroism. This emotional resonance is crucial for a topic
that is inherently tied to personal values and convictions.
In conclusion, undertaking the challenge of writing a "Definition Essay Hero" is not for the faint
of heart. It demands intellectual rigor, research prowess, and the ability to navigate the
complexities inherent in defining a concept as nuanced as heroism. Yet, the endeavor is not
without its rewards, as it offers an opportunity to explore the depths of human ideals and values.
For those seeking assistance in tackling such intricate topics, it's worth noting that resources like

heroism or exploring other complex subjects, platforms likeHelpWriting.net offer a range of

Shell Script Project Paper Guidelines
Shell Scripting Project Paper Guidelines
UNIX system administrators write shell scripts to automate repetitive administrative
tasks that would otherwise take up a large portion of their daily work schedule. For
example, a shell script can be written to perform the nightly system backup. The
script can be scheduled in crontab to execute after hours when the system is not being
used. The shell script benefits the company and administrator since a trip back to
work later in the evening is unnecessary.
Many other system administration tasks can be automated to relieve the
administrator of having to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The report will be automatically e mailed to the administrator each morning before
the start of business.
Since Linux is free UNIX, anyone is free to use and modify any UNIX shell script
developed by another person or group and posted on the Web. This is what makes
Linux such a powerful tool. Anyone can develop scripts (tools) and then share them
with everyone else in the Linux community. In this manner, scripts are shared,
modified, and made more powerful as they progress through different user
environments.
The DeVry book entitled, Rules of Thumb A Guide for Writers, should be consulted
for information on using APA style to cite references and sources of research

Political Irrectness In 1984 By George Orwell
In 1984, George Orwell demonstrates the dangers of policing thought and expression
through a fictional language called Newspeak , which is a a reduced language
created by the totalitarian state as a tool to limit free thought, and concepts that pose
a threat to the regime such as freedom, self expression, individuality, peace 1. Any
thought that is contrary to the state s construct is classified as thoughtcrime . The
NewspeakOrwell introduces is eerily similar to political correctness, which is
defined as conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend
political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminated 2. Political
correctness is a plague on modern society, since it stifles social progress. By
limiting free speech and encouraging a sense of victimhood, political correctness
augments the issues of racism, sexism etc. It also stifles debate by declaring many
important issues as taboo. Therefore, the political correctness that is rampant in
modern society, although aimed at promoting inclusion and tolerance, is in fact doing
nothing but increasing the division that people experience. The politically correct
agenda that is widespread and that is pushed by mass media and the political left
limits people s freedom of though and expression. One of the primary ways in which
it does this is through redefining language and deeming certain lanugage
unacceptable, so that contrary opinions are classified as discriminatory and
The Dissension In Daniel J Boorstin s The Decline Of...
Daniel J Boorstin, in this excerpt from The Decline of Radicalism, is set on the idea
that dissension is the cause of conflict, not disagreement. He argues that dissension
leads to violence rather than just debate, and as a result, produces more strife and
struggle. Although well intentioned, his lack of a developed argument and failure to
elaborate emphasizes Boorstin s failure to discern that disagreements play a larger
role in the formation of struggles.
The Civil War, caused by the split of the United States, is considered the bloodiest
battle on American soil. The confrontation however, was spurred by disagreement.

Dissension, not agreement, keeps our own originality from becoming bland and
indiscernible. Motorcycle gangs for example, are created because the motorists feel
apart from others and want to identify with people like themselves. The ability to
connect and learn from similar people develops their own individuality and sense of
self. The states of the united States also demonstrate the power of division. The
United States is not like other nations, it s power is regulated by federalism, the
distribution of power to the states. Sectionalism and competition between the separate
states, despite causing citizens to feel apart from others, is not a great problem with
America today. Instead the divisions encourage growth of the separate yet united
nation their competition and pride. This dissension has not become a great problem
with America today. It has provided solace and relief to those involved to fall back

Oscar Wilde s The Picture Of Dorian Gray
The Victorian era is an extraordinarily complex age that occurred throughout the
reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901. The Victorian Era was a tremendously
exciting period that created the emergence of many various artistic styles such as
literacy, poetry, and painting. In addition, the Era caused the social, political, and
religious movements to flourish. The Victorian Era, although being known as the
beginning of modern times, still embraced some radical views that today we would
associate as prudishness and repression . In 1890, author Oscar Wildewrote The
Picture of Dorian Grayand submitted it to Lippincott s Monthly Magazine. The
magazine s editor, J.M. Stoddert, immediately declined the novel and determined
that it would offend the sensibilities of his readership (Wilde x). It was believed that
Oscar Wilde s book contained explicit sexual, especially homosexual, content which
contradicted the time period of the Victorian Era and was deemed obscene. It was
not until 2011, that Wilde s novel was published as originally written under the title,

it is arguably debated, there is an appearance of homosexual content in The

John Stuart Mill And Plato
Throughout history, many philosophers have argued different ideas about
government, but only a few have discussed women s roles in government and
society. Two great thinkers John Stuart Mill and Plato, are apart of this small group
of philosophers and have even been described as feminists. In this essay, I will
discuss the ideas of Mill and Plato that have led to their feminist epithets and whether
or not I think it is true.
Mill is considered to be one of the earliest feminists in history because of his
campaign for gender equality. In Mill s essay Subjection of Women , he argues
strongly for women s rights, and gender equality, which are the main principles of
feminism. In chapter 1, Mill challenges the idea that women are by ... Show more

[149] This argument can be refuted by using Mill s natural argument. He states that
What is now called the nature of women is an artificial thing the result of the forced
repression in some directions, unnatural stimulation in others. [152] In other words
Mill is stating that the subjection of women is something that has been ingrained in
society for so long that is custom. Even the ones who are oppressed, which are
women, in this case, will even start to believe it, (which is why they might prefer
being housewives). Mill uses this argument to explain that custom is the reason for
the subjection of women and not the so called natural differences. To conclude this
point, Mill argued that the inequality of women was a relic from the past , and had
no place in the modern world. [150] This supports the notion that he was, in fact, a
feminist. He believed that women should be on an equal playing field with men and
that having effectively half the human race unable to contribute to society is a
hindrance to human development . [134] Even though Mill s ideas are important to
feminist texts of the nineteenth century he still inspires feminists around the world
even till this day.
In Book V of The Republic Plato discusses his ideas about women s role in his ideal
state. Plato feels that women should receive equal administrative occupations,
including the rule of the city as well as its defense. Plato may be described as
Athens Vs Rome Dbq Analysis
Athens vs Rome: Which was the Better System? I.Athens and Rome were two
powerful civilizations. Their impact still influence us today. About 500 BC, people
were no longer considered subjects. They are now called citizens, and had to meet
certain responsibilities. If you meet the requirements then you could be granted
citizenship. Only certain people could be granted citizenship, and it was to be
honored and protected. Athens had a better system then Rome, because the Athenians
where more cautious and gave people equal chances for obtaining citizenship. They
also did ostracism, and believed in The Old Oligarch. II.Supporting Paragraphs a)In

Fate In The Odyssey
There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not
our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you just have to be brave
enough to see it. Princess Merida states this in Brave. She goes on a journey to seal
her fate, similar to Odysseus. In Homer s The Odyssey, Merida s statement is
proven false. In The Odyssey, the omnipotent power of the gods is absolute over the
mortals. The will of the gods controls suffering, actions, and ultimate fate. The act of
suffering is controlled by the will of the gods. There is emotional and physical
suffering. Odysseus goes through emotional and physical suffering. He goes through
emotional suffering when he is a prisoner on Calypso s island for seven years because

Athena says, Yes try the suitors. You may collect a few more loaves, and learn
who are the decent lads, and who are the vicious although not one can be excused
from death! (Homer 322). Athena shows that the will of the gods controls one s
fate because she alleged that all of the suitors would succumb to Odysseus and die.
The supreme powers control mortals to reach the conclusions they desire. This is
exposed with Zeus conversation with Athena. O Father of us all and king of kings,
enlighten me. What is your secret will? War and battle, worse and more of it, or
can you not impose a pact on both? (Homer 459). The fate of Ithaka rests on Zeus
shoulders. He decides to sojourns the violence, and consents Odysseus to return to
the true king. To change the will of the gods, one needs to appease them. To gain
the gods favor, mortals regularly make sacrifices to them. Offending the gods
creates vast consequences. This is demonstrated with Poseidon s wrath towards
Odysseus. Mortals to no prevail can avoid fate. This is bared with the Phaiakians.
They could not have eluded their fate of a ship turning to stone. If we gave safe
conveyance to all passengers we should incur Poseidon s wrath, he said, whereby
one day a fair ship, manned by Phaiakians would come to grief at the god s hands;
and great mountains would hide our city from the sea (Homer 235). Fate is sealed in
the gods hands. The gods are in control the

On this case it will be discussed the aircraft accident of American Airlines Flight 587.
The aircraft involved was an Airbus 300 605R with a registration N14053 that
occurred on November 12, 2001 in Belle Harbor, New York claimed the lives of 265
people, which consisted of all the members on board, the flight crew and 5 members
in the ground. The aircraft was scheduled to depart from John F. Kennedy
International Airport, Jamaica, New York to Las Americas International Airport,
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic operating under the provisions of the CRF 14
Part 121 with an instrument flight rules flight plan.
The captain of the aircraft was 42 years old at the moment of the accident.
American Airlines hired him in July 1985 holding ATP (Airline Transport
Certificate) and a first class medical certificate with no limitations by the FAA
dated June 5, 2001. The captain, age 42, was hired by American Airlines in July
1985. He held an airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate and a Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) first class medical certificate dated June 5, 2001, with no
limitations and had a total of 8050 flying hours. The first officer was 34 years old
at the moment of the fatal accident. He was hired by American Airlines in March
1991 and he holds an ATP and first class medical certificates with a limitation given
to him by the FAA on October 18, 2001. His medical certificate stated that he must
wear correcting lenses and according to the American Airlines 4,403 total flying
hours.
On the flight 587 accident report, it was determined that the aircraft accident
occurred due to the rudder inputs done by the pilot in command, which was the first
officer. With the flight plan established, the aircraft found some wake turbulence
caused by an airliner that has the same flight plan. According to Skybrary (2017)
Wake Vortex Turbulence is defined as turbulence which is generated by the passage
of an aircraft in flight. It will be generated from the point when the nose landing
Socialization
Socialization in a Social Institution
socialization in a social institution can change a person self concept and the way
they socialize because of the environment and the people to interact with on a daily
basis. Being in a social institution like a prison for example would change the way a
person socializes because of the setting the person is in. The way things are done in
a social institution would change their self concept so they could fit in to that
specific social institution. When someone is first introduced into a new social
institution they have to learn how to adapt. This is where the generalized other
comes in. If we can figure out thee generalized other things become a lot easier. In the

This also happens because we feel more comfortable around certain people. we
tend to socialize differently depending on who we are with and that is because of
our primary and secondary groups.when you are put into a social institution you ll
be forced to socialize a lot but not all of that socialization will be with a primary
group of people that you feel comfortable with. School is a good example of this
because in class you may need to do group work or something where you were
communicating with other people but you don t know them on a personal level
and they would be considered your secondary group because there is no emotional
connection with these people you are just working together to achieve a goal. Then
there s your friends who you hang out with I know on a personal and emotional
level so they would be considered your primary group. This happens in any social
institution because we find people was similar interests that we may go to for
emotional support. in the movie Shawshank redemption the character Red played by
Morgan Freeman was apart of Andy s primary group and I would even consider Red
his significant other because of the way him in and he interacted. socialization in a

Legacies of Ancient China Essay
China, located in the far north easterly corner of the globe is the largest country in
Asia and home to over 1.3 billon people. Some sources claim China to be the oldest
known continuous civilization in the world, with more than 5000 year of culture (see
bibliography). Therefore it comes with no surprise that ancient Chinahad some of the
most influential thinkers of that period who helped to shape their world. The early
Chinese left behind a great number of legacies which were the forerunners to the
ideas and technologies we enjoy today such as basic medicine, paper currency, deep
drilling and the bureaucracy system.
For the ancient Chinese, most of their knowledge of early Chinese medicine was
obtained from the yellow emperor s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This system of currency was invented for merchants, who used it to deposit their
cash in the capital, receiving a paper certificate which they could then exchange for
money in the provinces. This private merchant enterprise was quickly taken over
by the government in 812 AD. The technique was then used for the forwarding of
local taxes and revenues to the capital. Nowadays paper currency is used in almost
all modern countries because it is cheaper to produce and easier to carry than metal
coins. In some countries like Australia however the use of paper currency has ended
due to the fact that it s too easily counterfeited and wears out too fast. Instead they
use a bank note that s made from a special polymer which makes it stronger and a lot
harder to counterfeit.
By the first century BC the people of china had developed a device for deep
drilling boreholes. Some of these are known to have reached depths of 4800 feet.
They built derricks as much as 180 feet above the borehole to allow drill tubes to
be raised and lowered. They stacked rocks with center holes from the surface to the
deep stone layer as a guide for their drills. They then used hemp ropes and bamboo
cables to reach down it to the earth and extract the natural gas. Modern deep drilling
is done for all sorts of reasons, the two main reasons being for crude oil and natural
gas. They can extract these
Psycho, By Alfred Hitchcock
We all go a little mad sometimes, and that could possibly be exactly how many feel
after watching Psycho, released in 1960, and directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
Hitchcock took a different route in terms of plot and structure for the typical
Hollywood style. Psycho, like a young child never stops asking questions, it leaves
us in a state of doubt and unbelief. It is classic horror, with the numerous jump
scares leaving us at the edge of our seat, as every moment passes. Yet in the
beginning, it s seems to portray a rather classic form in a sense, a near Aristotelian
story. A woman who appears to be the main character in love, who is then faced with
a problem, not enough money to marry her love, who then steals money to help build
a future... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let s get this clear about the only certainty that was in Psycho, was the first couple
seconds of the movie when it displayed the location and the date. Everything else
known to be true later on ended in a twist. For example, take the cover of Psycho, at
first glance many may assume that Marian Crane, the woman on the cover, is
ultimately the main character, the protagonist, the hero. If the cover didn t help out
the opening scene was revealed two characters a man (Sam) and a woman
(Marian) who appear to be in love. We have identified the main character Marian
and we have identified the problem or goal a protagonist must achieve in a movie,
obtain money so Marian and Sam can get married. Then we see Marian at work,
where a rude, self pleasing, arrogant, rich man enters bargaining about himself and
his daughter s wedding. Marian is then presented with a task deliver the money to
the bank. Hitchcock has successfully set the bait and hooked the audience into
backing Marian in any decision. She s doing it for love right, and the jerk has plenty
of money anyway. After watching the entire movie I began to realize the true
brilliance of Alfred Hitchcock, because, of course everyone loves a hero good, let s
kill her 40 minutes into the movie and this is where things became interesting the
structure of the film. Doubt begins to creep into the minds of the
Relationship Between God And God In Gilgamesh
In many different texts such as Gilgamesh and The Odyssey , there is a
relationship displayed between God and man or the divine . In these stories the
gods are almost always close by. The gods in Gilgamesh are very similar to the
humans in terms of appearance. Not only that but they behave similar as well. They
have emotions and feel things but also expect things of the humans. They want
sacrifices and for the humans to obey them. In obeying and pleasing the gods
however, the humans in return expect to be guided by the gods and kept safe. This is
because the humans see the gods as unconquerable, almighty, and immortal beings.
Although being seen that way to the human s, the gods have their weaknesses too.
Despite the fact that there are gods in Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh himself is two thirds god
and one third man. He too has unbelievable strength and does unbelievable things
like killing the Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. He is capable of doing things
like the gods because he is like them to an extent. He too feels things such as
sadness and grief when his friend Enkidu dies. The gods play a part in the lives of
man in this way too. For example, the gods agreed in council that either Gilgamesh
or Enkidu must die for what they had done in killing the Bull of Heaven. In the end
this resulted in Enkidu s death. Gilgamesh like the gods, doesn t only feel and have
emotions but has a weakness as well. Gilgamesh s weaknesses in this story are
arrogance and pride. He displays this

Preface In our data analysis we do some univariate analysis before proceeding to
models. In survival analysis it is highly recommended to look at the Kaplan Meier

the survival function for each group and give an idea of whether or not the groups
are proportional. We also consider the tests of equality across strata to explore
whether or not to include the predictor in the final model. For the categorical
variables such as marital, eservice, plusservice and totalservice we use the log rank
test of equality across strata which is a non parametric test. For the continuous

Risk is what may occur or, that which is likely to occur, as a result of a particular

humanity. However, some risks can be avoided and are not as grave as others. To
evaluate a risk, careful consideration is given to its nature and consequences. Risk
is calculated relative to the damage an incident causes and the level, size, and
extent of exposure to said damage. Hazard is the apparatus that causes the damage
or harm, and exposure is the degree, depth, and scope of the risk as influenced by
the nature of the source of danger. In other words, risk can be determined by

The On The Door, My Wife And I
Knock on our Door Speaking of a right at the door , my wife and I, like most other
people on in this country, had a knock on our door by some Jehovah s Witnesses.
They had their material at the ready and started in, as they often do, asking us
about paradise earth . I invited them into our home. At the end of the discussion,
we arranged a time for them to come back for a follow up visit. When they did, my
wife and I were prepared with coffee (yes, they do drink coffee) and snacks. I also
had some time to brush up on my study in this area. The husband, now retired, had
served as the overseer at the Watchtower Headquarters in New York City for
decades as a proofreader of their Watchtower material. I knew I was in for a fierce
debate. As the late Dr. Walter Martin once said, Jehovah s Witnesses will turn most
Christians into a theological pretzel. The couple we entered into discussions were
no ordinary J.W. s. They made the average J.W. visit feel like a picnic. In our get
together, he brought up the year 1914; a very significant year for J.W. s. I think, to
his shock, I agreed that 1914 was a very significant prophetic year. What started as a
meeting, turned into an 8 month discussion, sometimes with laughter, other times
pretty intense. And no, we did not join the Jehovah s Witnesses, but we did part as
friends. We didn t save them; only God can do that. But we planted seeds and perhaps
more importantly, showed them that Christians can be loving yet bold, knowledgeable

Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to give an understanding on how we as a
country, the United States of America, should have a clear understanding of all
business matters of the country of Cuba. Wow understanding this, facts of the country
of Cuba will also be presented. For decades, Cuba has been banned from conducting

know and understand where technology is in the United States. Where does Cuba fit
in with technology? An article written by Yoani Sanchez, published from the

One of the greatest challenges in economic growth has been the lack of internet

country in the Western Hemisphere. Cell phone sales are up more than ever in
Cuban. The younger generation is using it more and more just like the Untied States
for email, social media, and texting. It is still very challenging due to the lack of
internet connectivity. Again we ask, could the United States make money by
assisting Cuba in technical communications? Though still among the least connected
countries in the world, Cuba saw greater internet access via an expansion of Wi Fi
hotspots, a deal with Google, and a limited pilot project to allow home based internet

Advantages Of Maglev Train
Maglev train denotes the train is lifted above its tracts by electromagnetic force.
With the maglev technology developing rapidly, maglev train has been widely
applied nowadays like Japan HTTS series and German TR series. This essay will
examine the key technologies of maglev train from both the dominated systems and
the main characteristics of high and low speed maglev trains perspectives. There are
three main systems: suspension system, guidance and brake system and traction
system. As the most crucial yet challenging one, suspension system is established to
achieve train s levitation. According to Long, He and Xue(2011), there are two
types of suspension system: EMS system and EDS system. The former one appears
to be more widely used recently. As for EMS system, as an abbreviation standing for
electromagnetic suspension, it achieves train s levitation by using the force of
attraction between the permanent magnet mounted on board and the railway track(
Long, He and Xue, 2011). In addition, feedback control loops are necessary and
crucial in this system. According to Earnshaw s law, which states that a permanent

This can be explained by the magnetic principle that the same poles repel, different
poles attract. As with the process, based on the force decomposition principle, the
inverted U shaped magnetically rail and magnet produce the repulsive
electromagnetic force with an inclined angle, which can be decomposed into the
guiding force along the lateral component and the suspension force along the vertical
component. In addition, Liu, Long and Li(2015) illustrated that current adjustment in
suspension magnet is adopted to keep suspension in a certain

addition, both plans provide opportunities for the admitting physician to provide
proof or argument for discrepancies in treatments or length of stays. Although the UK

Cambrian Period
Cambrian period 543 490 million years
Introduction
The Cambrian Period marks the beginning of the Paleozoic Era. This period gets
its name from a place in Wales where the first examples of this type of ancient life
was found. The period lasted for nearly 53 million years, from about 543 million
years ago until 490 million years ago. The Cambrian Period marks an important point
in the history of life on earth; it is the time when most of the major groups of
animals first appear in the fossil record. This event is sometimes called the Cambrian
Explosion , because of the relatively short time over which this diversity of forms
appears. It was once thought that the Cambrian rocks contained the ... Show more

Explosion of Invertebrate Life During the Cambrian Period there was an explosion
of life forms. Most of these were in the water. Many animals with no backbones
lived in the shallow seas. These animals were invertebrates. Almost every metazoan
phylum with hard parts, and many that lack hard parts, made its first appearance in
the Cambrian. The only modern phylum with an adequate fossil record to appear
after the Cambrian was the phylum Bryozoa, which is not known before the early
Ordovician. A few mineralized animal fossils, including sponge spicules and probable

Character Analysis
Shylock
Is Shylock the villain or the victim in the Merchant of Venice?
In the play the Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare the antagonist Shylock is
both the victim and the villain. Shylock is a Jewish moneylender and is initially
portrayed as anger filled and bloodthirsty but as the play continues we begin to see
him as more human and his emotions become more evident. As the antagonist,
Shylock is a fearful adversary to Antonio, the protagonist. But as good begins to
win over evil, Shylock is crushed and we see evidence of his mortality in his grief.
Shylock changes significantly though out the course of the play and he is formed
into a too complex character to be labeled just victim or villain.

In Act 2 Scene 4 Jessica decides to leave her father and her home to elope with a
Christian man Lorenzo. This strengthens the concept of Shylock being a heartless
villain because his child feels she must leave without a word of her desires. This
shows that Jessica knows that her father would not listen to or consider her feelings
for Lorenzo so she must steal and run away from him. On the night she leaves she
says with little remorse Farewell; and if my fortune be not crost, I have a father, you
a daughter, lost. This shows that her childhood was not happy and that she was
ashamed to be her father s daughter . This is further evidence of Shylocks
heartlessness.
Shylock is also the victim when Jessica leaves. He loses his only child, that
underneath his cold exterior it becomes apparent he loves her and struggles with
the depth of his grief. He loses hold on his business and walks through the streets
morning the loss of his child to the men he detests. He cries in anguish The curse
never fell upon our nation till now; I never felt it till now.... My own flesh and
blood to rebel! I say, my daughter is my flesh and blood. This scene evokes
compassion towards Shylock but he is tormented more by Salario and Salanio. This
shows him as a repentant father, a man a victim to his child s will and prejudice
surrounding his race.
Another factor in Shylocks character that leads to him being perceived as the villain
is that he is parsimonious. He will not give or
The Field By John Keane
The Field is a story written by John Keane and is about a farmer who is very poor
and owns a piece of land. He is renting a field from a woman who has now become
a widow and is interested in selling the land at an auction. Because she decides to
sell the land at an expensive price, the poor farmer Bull Mccabe is pushed into a very
uncomfortable situation in which his desperation gets the best of him, which
ultimately leads to his involvement in a murder. A question arises from this man s
predicament: Were his actions acceptable? Just because someone becomes
helplessly desperate, doesn t mean that they must commit murder in order to
fulfill their temporary desires. I believe that what Bull Maccabe has done was a
result pure desperation which was not in any way justifiable. Murder is a line that
should never be crossed except in particular circumstances. Ethically, it wouldn t
be feasible to argue taking someone s life unless it is to defend your own. The idea
of murder is concept that globally, is well understood as undeniably wrong. It
should only be used as a last resort or self defense, as in the act of war. Only in
these situations would killing someone be an option. Not only are these cases ones
where you can no guilt afterwards, but you wouldn t even face the repercussions.
Bull is so frustrated with how he s going to lose his valuable land that he even calls

Robert Frost s Poem Once By The Pacific
Once by the Pacific is a poem written by Robert Frost. Told from the perspective of
an omniscient third person narrator, the poem tells of an enormous storm as it
approaches land from the Pacific. The poem begins as the Pacific s shattered water
made a misty din. Here, a metaphor creates a visual link between shattered glass
and the ocean water rent from its calm, glassy state and thrown asunder by the wind
and rain. The visual, tactile and auditory imagery established by the misty din
immerse the reader in the poem, transporting them to the edge of the cliff where
they can see, feel and hear the tempest. Shaped by the storm, great waves looked
over others coming in. The word great provides powerful visual imagery of the

A metaphor comparing sheets of rain to locks blown forward in the gleam of eyes
personifies the clouds, giving them attributes reminiscent of a deity. In giving the
sense that there is a divine power observing the scene, this device adds to the sense
of foreboding created earlier in the poem. The narrator addresses someone directly,
noting that you could not tell, and yet it looked as if/ The shore was lucky in being
backed by the cliff. By addressing someone with the word you, the narrator creates
the possibility that the you being referred to is the reader. This allows for the
reader to become fully immersed in the poem, transported to the clifftop, watching
the storm. A personification qualifies the shore as lucky in being backed by cliff,
/ The cliff in being backed by continent. This device presents the storm and the land
as opposing forces. The immensity of the storm is solidified by the mention of the
shore being backed by cliff and the cliff by continent, as if they were lines of
defence that may be breached. This warlike imagery is expanded upon in the next

The second phase of the project includes constructing a pulp mill and will cost US$1
billion.
Today (2004) PГ©rez main problem is that he has to decide whether the company
should go through a horizontal expansion or a forward integration. In others words,
if the company should continue with the second phase of The Nueva Aldea project
becoming the largest market pulp producer in the world and having the possibility of
foregoing other large projects in the next decade or to take advantage of their low
costs in pulp production by forward integrating into paper manufacturing.
Evaluation of the two alternatives:
As regards the horizontal expansion, there are several points that must be taken
into account as they demonstrate that this option will be the correct one: * This
expansion will grow the company market share because they have a cost
advantage. * For a company is better and easier to grow in a sector that they are
presently functioning. * The market seems to be moving in favor. * As a result of a
horizontal expansion the company can achieve economies of scale and reduce
significantly their costs. * Pulp is AraucoВґs main industrial activity, generating up
52% of EBITDA * Pulp production is the core competency of Arauco. * Becoming
the market leader will allow them to control supply and demand of the market of

Questions On Sociology Of Education Essay
Assignment 2: Sociology of Education 1 Submitted by: Bhawna Kapoor
(M2014EE004) Systems of stratification in Indian Context Social stratification
refers to a system by which categories of people in a society are ranked in a
hierarchy. This hierarchy then shapes people s identity and experiences, their
relations with others, as well as their access to resources and opportunities. Social
stratification is a society wide system that unequally distributes social resources
among categories of people. In the primitive societies, hunting and gathering
societies, for example, little was produced so only rudimentary social stratification
could exist. In more technologically advanced societies where people produce a
surplus over and above their basic needs, however, social resources are unequally
distributed to various social categories regardless of people s innate individual
abilities. Social stratification persists over generations. It is closely linked to the
family and to the inheritance of social resources from one generation to the next. A
person s social position is ascribed. Children assume the social positions of their
parents. For example, within the caste system, birth determines occupational
opportunities. A Dalit is likely to be confined to traditional occupations such as
agricultural labour, scavenging, or leather work, with little chance of being able to
get high paying white collar or professional work. Social stratification is supported
by patterns of belief, or
Graphic Design Progression
as long as I can remember I have been interested in things like sketching drawing

interested in arts and crafts since I was a child. I used to sit and draw images and

Rossby Waves And Its Effects On Weather Processes
A wave which has a major importance for processes in our atmosphere is the Rossby

natural phenomena in the atmosphere and we can find them both in the atmosphere,
and in the ocean. We chose to focus on Rossby waves in the atmosphereand how they

the mathematics behind the processes.
Rossby waves were first discovered by Carl Gustav Rossby, a meteorologist who
studied their motion, in 1939. He found out that we have planetary waves in the

The Policy Categories And Be Able For Cite Examples
1) Review the policy categories and be able to cite examples: a) Constituent policies
involves the structure that makes up the government. Constituent policies are
concerned with the establishment of government structure, establishment of rules or
procedures for the conduct of government, rules that distribute or divide power and
jurisdiction within the present and future governmentpolicies might be made. A
structural example of constituent policyis the creation of the Department of Homeland
Security. In 2002, President George Bush did not see the need of a department to
manage terrorism, however, he changed his mind and called on Congress to create a
Department of Homeland Security. A procedural example of constituent policy is the
Federal Administrative Procedure Act of 1946 with outlined the procedures to be
used by agencies to ensure openness and fairness in agency decision making.
Constituent policies also include matters that involve personnel practices and
budgetary actions. b) Distributive policies the allocation of benefits or services, at no
cost, to particular segments of the population individuals, groups, companies, or
communities. These benefits or services include subsidies, grants, loans, technical
assistance, information (as on the weather), contracts, unemployment benefits, and
river and harbor improvement actions. The cost of these benefits and services are

they were able to discuss the nature of gun, organ, and stolen property smuggling.
Each type brings dangers to not only the victim but also the smuggler and host
country. Moreover, these illicit activities can provide benefits to those involved but
the harms caused by these activities typically outweigh the benefits. From previous
reading, the process of globalization, the fall of the Soviet Union, and the
advancement of technology has allowed for these crimesto advance. In fact, these
types of crimes have grown at an unprecedented rate , which has created a wide

This trade became more popular because of the advancement of science, including
innovations and new equipment, surgical procedures, and drugs used to extend a
person s life (Naim,2005). Typically, those who are impacted by organsmuggling
come from poor countries, who desperately need money but not all are willing. In
fact, majority of victims are often tricked into surgery for inconsequential
circumstances and when they wake up their kidneys are gone, this happens in
places like India and Brazil (Naim,2005). Street children can also fall prey to their
organs being trafficked because they are vulnerable and often they are kidnapped
or killed for their organs to be harvested (Naim,2005). Those who willing decide to
sell their kidneys are subjected to rather harsh conditions as well and held in safe
houses until they are taken in and out of the transplant country, unfortunately for
them, there is no follow up or protection from complications(Naim,2005). Capital
offenses in China have expanded the range of capital offenses, which causes more
execution because of the organ trade, since that can bring in more profit for the
country (Naim,2005). For example, in China, a doctor witnessed a Chinese
prisoner organs being removed while they were still alive the day before their
execution was supposed to happen (Naim,2005). Just like gun smuggling, organ
smugglers face the risk of being apprehended and their business destroyed. Host
countries for organ trafficking also face corruption by authorities and even doctors.
However, though the harm factors are high, for many of the victims there are
benefits. Of course, those who participate in this crime make a profit. Traffickers
sell the organs to elites in other nations and make a large profit, while the elites are
able to surpass the lines to receive
The Effect Of Music On Music
As you re planning for the reception that will follow the most special day of your life,
you re going to need to make a choice on the music. You can either hire a band to
play live at your event, or employ a DJ to MC the festivities. Here are [] benefits
explaining why you should consider using a DJ to spin your weddingtunes.
Convenience Factor
Setting up a live band and their sound system is a complex ordeal. There is usually
some type of stage assembly, plus you re going to need to fill the time gaps when a
band needs a break. When you elect to have live music for your wedding reception,
you actually have to account for these break periods. This means you re going to

They may know how to play dozens of songs very well, but you will be restricted to
a set number of choices. Hiring a DJ essentially gives you an endless number of
songs, not to mention limitless types of music genre.
DJs, especially those who use modern digital technology, come armed with literally
thousands of song choices. There will not be a genre of music requested where they
cannot supply hundreds of artists and innumerous song titles. When you opt for a DJ
over a live band, you add artist variety and song diversity to enthuse all your guests.
Songs Sound Familiar
As hard as a live band tries, rarely are they talented enough to duplicate their
selection of music perfectly. Sometimes dancers will have a hard time telling what
song they re actually playing. DJs spin the music by the original artist, so your
reception guest will get to hear their favorite tunes rendered perfectly.
No improvisation, no sound covers, just the genuine song at the correct rhythm and
beat. You want your guests to enjoy dancing to all the songs, not just the select few
that sound good. Your DJ will not only bring and immense variety of musical
selections, they will sound just like they re intended to sound.
Resolving the music question for your wedding reception is an important part of
planning for your special day. Trying to coordinate with a live act to play the music
can be an involved and costly process. Why not just hand over this significant part of
your reception to
Why Is Nina Dobrev A Good Role Model
Everyone has a different role model for their own different reasons. Sometimes it s
just because of what they do and their films, and other times it s because of their
great personality and loving nature. Overall, everyone has a specific person they

DonorsChoose.org, Elton John AIDS Foundation, Free The Children, Motion
Picture and Television Fund Foundation, Rape Foundation, and many more (Look

We never got anything handed to us. I bought my first car. I learned that if I want
something in life, I have to take the necessary steps and measures to achieve what I
want (141). Nina works hard and never gives up, following what her parents taught
her and what she is teaching to supporters everyday. I ve always wanted to
constantly challenge myself and play different characters in different genres,
whether it s action, drama, romantic, comedy, or a period piece. I ll never take a
part just for a paycheck or to fill time. I want to do projects that I really enjoy (148).
Instead of just doing things she doesn t really what to do, she manages to do what
she lives and she does it so well it inspires young minds to follow her lead, to work
for the things they want. Through hard work and persistence, Nina Dobrev has
become a successful actress and inspiring role model. Her childhood which led to
her acting shows young girls to work for what they want. All her films and
television shows are the outcome of that persistence and hard work. Nina Dobrev
may have what she wants, a great career that she loves with great friends she loves,
but she never stops working and never stops supporting other people and friends.
What makes anyone a good role mode is their story and personality in which Nina

Robert Goddard and the Rocket
Over time, some of the simplest rockets and other space inventions have become
even more elaborate. In 1232, the first rockets were used by the Chinese and the
Mongols while experimenting with their creation of gunpowder. ( Rocket History.
N.p., n.d. Web. 9 May 2014.) Rockets were also tossed around with for fireworks
and for the war between the Chinese and the Mongols. ( RocketHistory. N.p., n.d.
Web. 9 May 2014.) They built and fired rockets with gunpowder combustion
chambers. Other rocket like devices have appeared throughout history in different
cultures. Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, a Russian school teacher, produced the idea of
using rockets for better things like space travel. ( Rocket History. Rocket History.
N.p., n.d. Web. 9 May 2014.) However, Robert H. Goddard, born October 5, 1882,
was the first to ever launch a liquid fueled rocket and is recognized for his hard work
and discoveries to this day. ( When was the first rocket invented? | Space Facts
– Astronomy, the Solar System Outer Space | All About Space Magazine. )
Though there were a plethora of incredible inventions of the twentieth century, the
rocket has seemed to be the most remarkable. At the root of all inventions, behind the
nuts and bolts, the mathematical formulas and laws of physics, lies imagination.
(Aaseng, Nathan. Robert Goddard the Rocket. ) Robert Goddard used his imagination
to create the rocket and other technology before actual building it. (Aaseng, Nathan.

The Positive Importance Of The Halo Effect
Managers or coaches should know that sometimes their expectations can be formed
by the Halo effect (a psychological phenomenon that allows a general opinion of
someone, to be gathered from only one element). Despite the fact that influence of
the Halo effect, as well as any other perceptual effect, can have both negative and
positive consequences, initial elimination of them will do managers more objective.
The race, gender, age, educational level and class biases, which are rooted in
stereotypes, also, influence the level of expectations that leaders have for employees.
Another factor that has its influence on the result of this conception is employees
acceptance or resistance. People tend to respond positively to a manager s high
expectations and confidence in their abilities. Although, some employees are resistant
to the Pygmalion effect, especially, when they receive biased feedback. Of course,
this doesn t mean that managers should always seek for employee s acceptance.
Careful consideration of target personality and a possibility of resistance can alter
employee s behaviour and trigger powerful effects. Some employees, particularly with
a strong sense of their own, often strive to disprove inaccurate/unappealing
expectations by inspiring imaginative and creative thinking. As usual, this happens
when targeted employees are to discount negative expectations and use other sources
such as from peers or other co workers to form their perceptions of how competent or
Early Childhood Funding
There are several sources that can provide funding for an early childhood program.
Some of the sources are good from helping a program to start up and other is good
for ongoing funding. There are two main types of source supports when it comes to
funding an early childhood program; community and government support. Four
commonly used sources for funding an early childhoodprogram are established
philanthropic groups, companies, government grants, and investors.
According to Section 6.3: Start up Funds of Chapter 6: Funding the Program in the
Developing and Administration textbook:
Established philanthropic are willing to donate money to cover start up costs such as
equipment or to support a capital improvement fund raising campaign. They
GDP and Fiscal Policy Essay
The gross domestic product (GDP) is an essential component of measuring business
cycles. The most universal description of a recession is two uninterrupted quarterly
declines within the GDP, which is basically the totality of every good and service
that a country produces (Shenk, 2008). This description may be deemed as one
dimensional due to the fact that GDP is a measurement of the national economic
performance based on a sole economic statistic. By examining just one component of
the economic activities, an assessment is determined based on the entire economy.
Therefore, GDP is a critical gauge. Nonetheless, it has the capacity to foster a
misleading conclusion. A more intricate characterization of a recession has been
stated by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Appropriate government bodies make the determination of national fiscal policies.
Occasionally there are involuntary economic establishments and every now and then
a discretionary fiscal policy is necessary. These elements are established by the
government bodies, which are predominately the President or Congress. While
economic activities rise and fall; both taxes and fiscal expenditures involuntarily act
in response in ways that even out the economy. For instance, during an economic
deceleration, the government s spending on benefits to the unemployed elevates
automatically while the rate of unemployment increases. This spending increase is
automatic in that it does not entail unequivocal proceedings by the President or
Congress. Likewise, payments of tax decline automatically as the economy enters a
recession (Shenk, 2008). In addition to the fiscal policy s automatic reactions,
governments have the capacity to establish discretionary fiscal modifications in order
to combat an economic downturn. For instance, the stimulus package and bailouts in
which Congress recently approved is a great case in point of the discretionary fiscal
policy.
Fiscal policies may potentially have a remarkable impact on both the production and
employment of a country. Expansionary fiscal policy seeks to enhance both an
economy s demand and output. They do this through enhanced governmental
expenditures, or through the reductions of tax which
The Provision Of Equality, Diversity And Inclusive Practice
The provision of equality, diversity and inclusive practice can be ensured in relation
to change and transition in many ways. During the process of a transition, if the child
has additional needs, such as behavioural problems, then the practitioner is going to
need to create an individual plan for the child and their family. This plan could ensure
that the parents stay longer on the child first visit. Home visits can be helpful too.
This individual plan will benefit the child, their parents and also the practitioners.
If the family didn t speak English then this might cause concerns for the child and
also the setting. The setting could overcome this by supporting the child by
bringing an interpreter into the school. The parents can have support from the
setting by the school providing leaflets about the school with lots of pictures, some
videos, or a translated letter. The birth order of the individual child needs to be
considered because that can have an effect on them. I have noticed in my setting
that the younger child of the family is the most excited to start school because they
want to be like their big brothers or sisters. Other studies show that birth order can
also have an effect on the child s grades and personalities. Birth order within
families has long sparked sibling rivalry, but it might also impact the child s
personality and intelligence, a new study suggests. First borns are typically smarter,
while younger siblings get better grades and are more

Portable Laptop Computer Comparison
Laptops (Rough Draft) I am searching for a thin, portable laptop that I can bring
anywhere. The laptop I am looking for must be thin and portable, have great
feature, and have a long battery life. I already know the amount of gigabytes you
can select which is 4 gigabytes, 6 gigabytes, 8 gigabytes, and 16 gigabytes. The
major brands I am familiar with are Apple, Toshiba, Acer, Hp, Asus, and Dell. I am
interested in searching for laptops because I will be purchasing a laptopnext year and
also I will use this for college and for my future job. Despite the fact that the Apple
MacBookAir cost more than the HP ENVY Touchsmart Sleekbook and the Toshiba
Satellite, it is thin and weighs the least, has high performance and great features,
and has the longest battery life. The HP ENVY Touchsmart Sleekbook has a 15.6
inch high definition LED backlit touch screen with BrightView technology(1366 x
768). The laptop cost $629.99 and has a silver body and a black keypad. It has the
capability of storing six gigabytes of memory but can be expanded to sixteen
gigabytes and has a 750 gigabyte hard drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive

External Economies Of Scale Occur
External economies of scale occur when the cost per unit depend on the size of the
industry but not necessarily on the size of any one firm(Krugman et al,2015:179).It
also consists of potential reduction of average cost associated with higher level of
productivity. Often differences between countries and economies of creating the need
to trade, as thus economies of scale make it advantageous for each country to
specialize in the production of an only limited range of goods and services (Krugman
et al,2015).In understanding the significance of economies of scale ,Adam smith
postulates that each country could produce one or more commodities at a lower cost
than its trading partners .It then follows that each country will benefit from
specialization, this pattern of trade often reflect a created comparative advantage
meaning that a country can produce at a lower cost than the other country (Theo S et
al,2009).A large of production is more efficient, the cost per unit of outputfalls, while
the industry increases production as a result it encourages trade amongst countries.
Discuss the Role of external economies
External economies of scale occur when the cost per unit depends on the size of the
industry but not necessarily the size of an individual firm (Krugman et al, 2015)
they are most likely to arise when firms operate in the same region. External
Economies of scale often lead to industry cluster, that is, Group of similar and
related firms in a defined geographic area
Ap Human Geography Of Somalia
I.Environment and Natural History
Located on the east coast of Africa, in an area known as the Horn of Africa,
Somalia is approximately 637,657 square miles (close to the size of Texas) and
has just over 1,800 miles of coastline. It is bordered on the west by Ethiopia, on the
right by the Indian Ocean; to the north, the boarder is the Shabelle River, and the
Juba River to the south. The capital city is Mogadishu and as of 2011, the population
is just under 10 million. Somalia is of mixed terrain, where the northern part is hilly,
the central and southern parts are flat. The climate in Somalia is hot and dry year
round, with seasonal monsoon winds, and irregular rains. Based on its geographic
location, extending into the Indian Ocean, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Somalia has been torn by conflict for most of its 48 years of independence. The
collapse of the state itself came in 1991 when President Mohammed Siad Barre was
overthrown. Following the collapse of the Siad Barre regime in 1991, various
groupings of Somali factions sought to control the national territory and fought small
wars with each other. (Business World Complete p.5) My analysis is that without any
formal, structured government, the Somalia people went to what they value, clans
and kinship. Unfortunately, they were all vying to be the clan in control. The inter
clan fighting prevented people from planting and harvesting crops and caused the
death of several hundred thousand Somali. Ultimately this constant fighting led to a
total breakdown of public services. Remember that Somalia culture is based on
traditions and their ideology of kinship. Coalitions among clan warlords led the
central government to crumble and it s these same clan rivalries that prohibit
Who Is Mccarthyism In The Crucible
During his writing of the crucible, Arthur Miller reflected his own personal
experiences into the ideologies occurring throughout the book. The argument of
McCarthyism being reflected throughout the story is very evident. During the 1940s
and 1950s Americans were overcome with the thought of communism possibly
reaching America, due to its major growth throughout Asia and Eastern Europe.
These concerns began to develop in the US government, with young senator, Joseph
McCarthy, taking particular concern. Exploiting already present fear of communism
among American people, McCarthy public announced that more than two hundred
card carrying communists had infiltrated the United States government. Although
these accusations where later confirmed to be false, McCarthy s pursuit towards
allegation of communism became the center of political tensions. During his anti
communism campaign, McCarthy became known for his paranoid, ridiculous and
obscure accusations upon any well known individuals during the time. This system...

This ideology served an extreme part in McCarthyism. Due to the hysteria and
paranoia out of communism during Miller s time, those running the investigations
would believe any accusations or any pieces of evidence no matter how obscure, in
effort to calm the hysteria that had been so greatly built up. There are many examples
of accusations based on obscure evidence throughout the Crucible. Martha Corey is
accused and hung for witchcraft due to her husbands questioning of her reading of
strange books . Giles Corey accuses Thomas Putnam of witchcraft out of his greed
for land. Specifically, Abigail, who conducts most of the accusations, typically does
not have the slightest bit of evidence, and rather uses the power she had developed to
accuse anyone who is of threat in effort to protect
Why Grades Are Not Acceptable Methods For Student
Learning
When helping Northern Arizona University (NAU) address Core Component 4. B, a
colleague was overheard making a comment. The colleague said We already do
assessment. We give grade and course evaluations. If you want to know how much
students are learning, look at their grades and course evaluations. The following
paper will describe why grades are not acceptable methods for student learning.
Additionally, it will propose a few questions that will make course evaluation data
more useful in addressing accreditation requirements. Lastly, it will outline how NAU
can effectively address Core Component 4. B. First, accreditation helps to ensure and
improve the quality of an institution or program. It is a process that uses a set of
standards that ensures quality of education based on measures of student learning.
There are many accrediting organizations that review higher education institutions or
specific programs within that institution. Accreditation provides many things to
students and the public by making sure the institution or program lives up to its
promises. For example, students who attend an accredited institution can be assured
that classes will transfer and that the program of study will be accepted by future
employers (CHEA, 2010). Accreditors usually focus on student learning outcomes. A
good institution will have these student learning outcomes within its strategic plan
which drives all assessment processes. Yet, despite the obvious need for assessments
that can
Love Collection Research Paper
Love is the key to collecting anything be it antiques or beanie babies. When you
love the things you collect, you feel a passion that encourages you to spend your
money, time and energy adding to and caring for your collection. Begin your
collection with pieces you love. The first step to collecting is to find something you
love and wantto surround yourself with. A healthy and inspiring collection is one
you will want to live with for years to come. The exact nature of your collection is
up to you. Choose art or furniture of a particular period or style or select an item
that is representative of meaning in your life. Consider collecting teddy bears like
the first one your mother gave you or elephant figurines after one sparked your
interest at a flea market. You might have to take a look around your home and find
that a collection has already started. Look for the things you love then build your
collection around them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now that you have selected the pieces that will begin your collection it is time to
start researching. Visit websites and gather reference books with the details and
history of the items you want to collect. Remember that collections don t have to
have value to anyone other than the collector. You might choose to collect
inexpensive items that speak to you or items of higher value. Talk to the experts.
When and if your collection begins to have some value it s time to talk to the
experts. Listen to their advice. Through them you can learn what value is
reasonable for items you want to add to your collection. They can also help you
discover the most common flaws found in fakes or copies of the types of items you

Definition Essay Hero. . Analytical Essay: Essay hero

  • 1. Definition Essay Hero Crafting an essay on the topic of a "Definition Essay Hero" is no easy feat. The difficulty lies not only in the intricate task of defining what a hero is but also in the challenge of encapsulating the diverse perceptions and interpretations of heroism that exist across different cultures, time periods, and personal experiences. To begin with, the term "hero" is laden with subjective connotations. What might be heroic to one person could be perceived differently by another. Unraveling the layers of heroism involves delving into historical contexts, cultural influences, and the evolution of societal values. This requires meticulous research to provide a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of heroism. Moreover, the concept of a hero is not static; it transforms over time, adapting to the shifting norms and expectations of society. Pinning down a concrete definition becomes a dynamic challenge as one must navigate through the fluidity of language and the ever-changing landscape of human values. The process of writing such an essay demands a delicate balance between generalization and specificity. The task involves more than merely offering a dictionary-style definition; it necessitates the exploration of real-life examples, literary characters, and historical figures to illustrate the various facets of heroism. Crafting a coherent and convincing argument that seamlessly weaves together these diverse elements requires analytical skills and a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. Furthermore, the essay must engage the reader on an emotional level, prompting them to reflect on their own beliefs and perceptions of heroism. This emotional resonance is crucial for a topic that is inherently tied to personal values and convictions. In conclusion, undertaking the challenge of writing a "Definition Essay Hero" is not for the faint of heart. It demands intellectual rigor, research prowess, and the ability to navigate the complexities inherent in defining a concept as nuanced as heroism. Yet, the endeavor is not without its rewards, as it offers an opportunity to explore the depths of human ideals and values. Netw 240 Devry Essay NETW240 Shell Scripting Class Project Guide Shell Script Project Paper Guidelines Shell Scripting Project Paper Guidelines UNIX system administrators write shell scripts to automate repetitive administrative tasks that would otherwise take up a large portion of their daily work schedule. For example, a shell script can be written to perform the nightly system backup. The script can be scheduled in crontab to execute after hours when the system is not being used. The shell script benefits the company and administrator since a trip back to work later in the evening is unnecessary. Many other system administration tasks can be automated to relieve the administrator of having to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since Linux is free UNIX, anyone is free to use and modify any UNIX shell script developed by another person or group and posted on the Web. This is what makes Linux such a powerful tool. Anyone can develop scripts (tools) and then share them with everyone else in the Linux community. In this manner, scripts are shared, modified, and made more powerful as they progress through different user environments. The DeVry book entitled, Rules of Thumb A Guide for Writers, should be consulted for information on using APA style to cite references and sources of research information. • 3. Political Irrectness In 1984 By George Orwell In 1984, George Orwell demonstrates the dangers of policing thought and expression through a fictional language called Newspeak , which is a a reduced language created by the totalitarian state as a tool to limit free thought, and concepts that pose a threat to the regime such as freedom, self expression, individuality, peace 1. Any thought that is contrary to the state s construct is classified as thoughtcrime . The NewspeakOrwell introduces is eerily similar to political correctness, which is defined as conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminated 2. Political correctness is a plague on modern society, since it stifles social progress. By limiting free speech and encouraging a sense of victimhood, political correctness augments the issues of racism, sexism etc. It also stifles debate by declaring many important issues as taboo. Therefore, the political correctness that is rampant in modern society, although aimed at promoting inclusion and tolerance, is in fact doing nothing but increasing the division that people experience. The politically correct agenda that is widespread and that is pushed by mass media and the political left limits people s freedom of though and expression. One of the primary ways in which it does this is through redefining language and deeming certain lanugage unacceptable, so that contrary opinions are classified as discriminatory and
  • 4. The Dissension In Daniel J Boorstin s The Decline Of... Daniel J Boorstin, in this excerpt from The Decline of Radicalism, is set on the idea that dissension is the cause of conflict, not disagreement. He argues that dissension leads to violence rather than just debate, and as a result, produces more strife and struggle. Although well intentioned, his lack of a developed argument and failure to elaborate emphasizes Boorstin s failure to discern that disagreements play a larger role in the formation of struggles. The Civil War, caused by the split of the United States, is considered the bloodiest battle on American soil. The confrontation however, was spurred by disagreement. The North and the South saw themselves as great defenders of a just cause. Motorcycle gangs for example, are created because the motorists feel apart from others and want to identify with people like themselves. The ability to connect and learn from similar people develops their own individuality and sense of self. The states of the united States also demonstrate the power of division. The United States is not like other nations, it s power is regulated by federalism, the distribution of power to the states. Sectionalism and competition between the separate states, despite causing citizens to feel apart from others, is not a great problem with America today. Instead the divisions encourage growth of the separate yet united nation their competition and pride. This dissension has not become a great problem with America today. It has provided solace and relief to those involved to fall back upon, rather than splintering the

  • 6. Oscar Wilde s The Picture Of Dorian Gray The Victorian era is an extraordinarily complex age that occurred throughout the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901. The Victorian Era was a tremendously exciting period that created the emergence of many various artistic styles such as literacy, poetry, and painting. In addition, the Era caused the social, political, and religious movements to flourish. The Victorian Era, although being known as the beginning of modern times, still embraced some radical views that today we would associate as prudishness and repression . In 1890, author Oscar Wildewrote The Picture of Dorian Grayand submitted it to Lippincott s Monthly Magazine. The magazine s editor, J.M. Stoddert, immediately declined the novel and determined that it would offend the sensibilities of his readership (Wilde x). It was believed that Oscar Wilde s book contained explicit sexual, especially homosexual, content which contradicted the time period of the Victorian Era and was deemed obscene. It was not until 2011, that Wilde s novel was published as originally written under the title, The Picture of Dorian Gray: An Annotated, Uncensored Edition. The Uncensored Picture of Dorian Gray highlights the triangular relationship between the three leading characters: Basil Hallward, Dorian Gray, and Lord Henry Wotton. Although it is arguably debated, there is an appearance of homosexual content in The Uncensored Picture of Dorian Gray which appears in Basil Hallward s emotions toward Dorian and in the
  • 7. John Stuart Mill And Plato Throughout history, many philosophers have argued different ideas about government, but only a few have discussed women s roles in government and society. Two great thinkers John Stuart Mill and Plato, are apart of this small group of philosophers and have even been described as feminists. In this essay, I will discuss the ideas of Mill and Plato that have led to their feminist epithets and whether or not I think it is true. Mill is considered to be one of the earliest feminists in history because of his campaign for gender equality. In Mill s essay Subjection of Women , he argues strongly for women s rights, and gender equality, which are the main principles of feminism. In chapter 1, Mill challenges the idea that women are by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [149] This argument can be refuted by using Mill s natural argument. He states that What is now called the nature of women is an artificial thing the result of the forced repression in some directions, unnatural stimulation in others. [152] In other words Mill is stating that the subjection of women is something that has been ingrained in society for so long that is custom. Even the ones who are oppressed, which are women, in this case, will even start to believe it, (which is why they might prefer being housewives). Mill uses this argument to explain that custom is the reason for the subjection of women and not the so called natural differences. To conclude this point, Mill argued that the inequality of women was a relic from the past , and had no place in the modern world. [150] This supports the notion that he was, in fact, a feminist. He believed that women should be on an equal playing field with men and that having effectively half the human race unable to contribute to society is a hindrance to human development . [134] Even though Mill s ideas are important to feminist texts of the nineteenth century he still inspires feminists around the world even till this day. In Book V of The Republic Plato discusses his ideas about women s role in his ideal state. Plato feels that women should receive equal administrative occupations, including the rule of the city as well as its defense. Plato may be described as

About 500 BC, people were no longer considered subjects. They are now called citizens, and had to meet certain responsibilities. If you meet the requirements then you could be granted citizenship. Only certain people could be granted citizenship, and it was to be honored and protected. Athens had a better system then Rome, because the Athenians where more cautious and gave people equal chances for obtaining citizenship. They also did ostracism, and believed in The Old Oligarch. • 9. Fate In The Odyssey There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you just have to be brave enough to see it. Princess Merida states this in Brave. She goes on a journey to seal her fate, similar to Odysseus. In Homer s The Odyssey, Merida s statement is proven false. In The Odyssey, the omnipotent power of the gods is absolute over the mortals. The will of the gods controls suffering, actions, and ultimate fate. The act of suffering is controlled by the will of the gods. There is emotional and physical suffering. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Athena says, Yes try the suitors. You may collect a few more loaves, and learn who are the decent lads, and who are the vicious although not one can be excused from death! (Homer 322). Athena shows that the will of the gods controls one s fate because she alleged that all of the suitors would succumb to Odysseus and die. The supreme powers control mortals to reach the conclusions they desire. This is exposed with Zeus conversation with Athena. O Father of us all and king of kings, enlighten me. What is your secret will? War and battle, worse and more of it, or can you not impose a pact on both? (Homer 459). The fate of Ithaka rests on Zeus shoulders. He decides to sojourns the violence, and consents Odysseus to return to the true king. To change the will of the gods, one needs to appease them. To gain the gods favor, mortals regularly make sacrifices to them. Offending the gods creates vast consequences. This is demonstrated with Poseidon s wrath towards Odysseus. Mortals to no prevail can avoid fate. This is bared with the Phaiakians. They could not have eluded their fate of a ship turning to stone. If we gave safe conveyance to all passengers we should incur Poseidon s wrath, he said, whereby one day a fair ship, manned by Phaiakians would come to grief at the god s hands; and great mountains would hide our city from the sea (Homer 235). Fate is sealed in the gods hands. The gods are in control the

The way things are done in a social institution would change their self concept so they could fit in to that specific social institution. Some sources claim China to be the oldest known continuous civilization in the world, with more than 5000 year of culture (see bibliography). Therefore it comes with no surprise that ancient Chinahad some of the most influential thinkers of that period who helped to shape their world. The early Chinese left behind a great number of legacies which were the forerunners to the ideas and technologies we enjoy today such as basic medicine, paper currency, deep drilling and the bureaucracy system. This system of currency was invented for merchants, who used it to deposit their cash in the capital, receiving a paper certificate which they could then exchange for money in the provinces. This private merchant enterprise was quickly taken over by the government in 812 AD. The technique was then used for the forwarding of local taxes and revenues to the capital. Nowadays paper currency is used in almost all modern countries because it is cheaper to produce and easier to carry than metal coins. In some countries like Australia however the use of paper currency has ended due to the fact that it s too easily counterfeited and wears out too fast. Instead they use a bank note that s made from a special polymer which makes it stronger and a lot harder to counterfeit. By the first century BC the people of china had developed a device for deep drilling boreholes. Some of these are known to have reached depths of 4800 feet. They built derricks as much as 180 feet above the borehole to allow drill tubes to be raised and lowered. They stacked rocks with center holes from the surface to the deep stone layer as a guide for their drills. They then used hemp ropes and bamboo cables to reach down it to the earth and extract the natural gas. Modern deep drilling is done for all sorts of reasons, the two main reasons being for crude oil and natural gas. They can extract these

Hitchcock took a different route in terms of plot and structure for the typical Hollywood style. Psycho, like a young child never stops asking questions, it leaves us in a state of doubt and unbelief. It is classic horror, with the numerous jump scares leaving us at the edge of our seat, as every moment passes. Yet in the beginning, it s seems to portray a rather classic form in a sense, a near Aristotelian story. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let s get this clear about the only certainty that was in Psycho, was the first couple seconds of the movie when it displayed the location and the date. Everything else known to be true later on ended in a twist. For example, take the cover of Psycho, at first glance many may assume that Marian Crane, the woman on the cover, is ultimately the main character, the protagonist, the hero. If the cover didn t help out the opening scene was revealed two characters a man (Sam) and a woman (Marian) who appear to be in love. We have identified the main character Marian and we have identified the problem or goal a protagonist must achieve in a movie, obtain money so Marian and Sam can get married. Then we see Marian at work, where a rude, self pleasing, arrogant, rich man enters bargaining about himself and his daughter s wedding. Marian is then presented with a task deliver the money to the bank. Hitchcock has successfully set the bait and hooked the audience into backing Marian in any decision. She s doing it for love right, and the jerk has plenty of money anyway. After watching the entire movie I began to realize the true brilliance of Alfred Hitchcock, because, of course everyone loves a hero good, let s kill her 40 minutes into the movie and this is where things became interesting the structure of the film. In these stories the gods are almost always close by. The gods in Gilgamesh are very similar to the humans in terms of appearance. Not only that but they behave similar as well. They have emotions and feel things but also expect things of the humans. They want sacrifices and for the humans to obey them. In obeying and pleasing the gods however, the humans in return expect to be guided by the gods and kept safe. This is because the humans see the gods as unconquerable, almighty, and immortal beings. Although being seen that way to the human s, the gods have their weaknesses too. Despite the fact that there are gods in Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh himself is two thirds god and one third man. He too has unbelievable strength and does unbelievable things like killing the Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. He is capable of doing things like the gods because he is like them to an extent. He too feels things such as sadness and grief when his friend Enkidu dies. The gods play a part in the lives of man in this way too. For example, the gods agreed in council that either Gilgamesh or Enkidu must die for what they had done in killing the Bull of Heaven. In the end this resulted in Enkidu s death. Gilgamesh like the gods, doesn t only feel and have emotions but has a weakness as well. Gilgamesh s weaknesses in this story are arrogance and pride. He displays this

  • 29. Questions On Sociology Of Education Essay Assignment 2: Sociology of Education 1 Submitted by: Bhawna Kapoor (M2014EE004) Systems of stratification in Indian Context Social stratification refers to a system by which categories of people in a society are ranked in a hierarchy. This hierarchy then shapes people s identity and experiences, their relations with others, as well as their access to resources and opportunities. Social stratification is a society wide system that unequally distributes social resources among categories of people. In the primitive societies, hunting and gathering societies, for example, little was produced so only rudimentary social stratification could exist. In more technologically advanced societies where people produce a surplus over and above their basic needs, however, social resources are unequally distributed to various social categories regardless of people s innate individual abilities. Social stratification persists over generations. It is closely linked to the family and to the inheritance of social resources from one generation to the next. A person s social position is ascribed. Children assume the social positions of their parents. For example, within the caste system, birth determines occupational opportunities. A Dalit is likely to be confined to traditional occupations such as agricultural labour, scavenging, or leather work, with little chance of being able to get high paying white collar or professional work. Social stratification is supported by patterns of belief, or

I have always been interested in arts and crafts since I was a child. I used to sit and draw images and people in most of my free time. As I got older, and technology advanced I started finding ways to make my sketches and characters more detailed by use of computer applications. This is where my interest in the graphic designfield first blossomed. I would spend hours upon hours trying new things and designing flyers and postcards. All the while, honing and sharpening my skills. It wasn t until my senior year in high school and entering college that I have found that there was a career which incorporates these things. Transnational Crime And The 21st Century Summary In both Illict by Naim and Transnational Crime and the 21st century by Albanese , they were able to discuss the nature of gun, organ, and stolen property smuggling. Each type brings dangers to not only the victim but also the smuggler and host country. Moreover, these illicit activities can provide benefits to those involved but the harms caused by these activities typically outweigh the benefits. From previous reading, the process of globalization, the fall of the Soviet Union, and the advancement of technology has allowed for these crimesto advance. In fact, these types of crimes have grown at an unprecedented rate , which has created a wide array of networks that want to evade any policy and or laws to make their business profitable.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This trade became more popular because of the advancement of science, including innovations and new equipment, surgical procedures, and drugs used to extend a person s life (Naim,2005). Typically, those who are impacted by organsmuggling come from poor countries, who desperately need money but not all are willing. In fact, majority of victims are often tricked into surgery for inconsequential circumstances and when they wake up their kidneys are gone, this happens in places like India and Brazil (Naim,2005). Street children can also fall prey to their organs being trafficked because they are vulnerable and often they are kidnapped or killed for their organs to be harvested (Naim,2005). Those who willing decide to sell their kidneys are subjected to rather harsh conditions as well and held in safe houses until they are taken in and out of the transplant country, unfortunately for them, there is no follow up or protection from complications(Naim,2005). Capital offenses in China have expanded the range of capital offenses, which causes more execution because of the organ trade, since that can bring in more profit for the country (Naim,2005). For example, in China, a doctor witnessed a Chinese prisoner organs being removed while they were still alive the day before their execution was supposed to happen (Naim,2005). Just like gun smuggling, organ smugglers face the risk of being apprehended and their business destroyed. Host countries for organ trafficking also face corruption by authorities and even doctors. However, though the harm factors are high, for many of the victims there are benefits. Of course, those who participate in this crime make a profit. Traffickers sell the organs to elites in other nations and make a large profit, while the elites are able to surpass the lines to receive

There will not be a genre of music requested where they cannot supply hundreds of artists and innumerous song titles. When you opt for a DJ over a live band, you add artist variety and song diversity to enthuse all your guests. Songs Sound Familiar As hard as a live band tries, rarely are they talented enough to duplicate their selection of music perfectly. DJs spin the music by the original artist, so your reception guest will get to hear their favorite tunes rendered perfectly. The Positive Importance Of The Halo Effect Managers or coaches should know that sometimes their expectations can be formed by the Halo effect (a psychological phenomenon that allows a general opinion of someone, to be gathered from only one element). Despite the fact that influence of the Halo effect, as well as any other perceptual effect, can have both negative and positive consequences, initial elimination of them will do managers more objective. The race, gender, age, educational level and class biases, which are rooted in stereotypes, also, influence the level of expectations that leaders have for employees. Another factor that has its influence on the result of this conception is employees acceptance or resistance. People tend to respond positively to a manager s high expectations and confidence in their abilities. Although, some employees are resistant to the Pygmalion effect, especially, when they receive biased feedback. Of course, this doesn t mean that managers should always seek for employee s acceptance. Careful consideration of target personality and a possibility of resistance can alter employee s behaviour and trigger powerful effects. Some employees, particularly with a strong sense of their own, often strive to disprove inaccurate/unappealing expectations by inspiring imaginative and creative thinking. As usual, this happens when targeted employees are to discount negative expectations and use other sources such as from peers or other co workers to form their perceptions of how competent or

The most universal description of a recession is two uninterrupted quarterly declines within the GDP, which is basically the totality of every good and service that a country produces (Shenk, 2008). This description may be deemed as one dimensional due to the fact that GDP is a measurement of the national economic performance based on a sole economic statistic. By examining just one component of the economic activities, an assessment is determined based on the entire economy. Therefore, GDP is a critical gauge. Nonetheless, it has the capacity to foster a misleading conclusion. A more intricate characterization of a recession has been stated by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Appropriate government bodies make the determination of national fiscal policies. Occasionally there are involuntary economic establishments and every now and then a discretionary fiscal policy is necessary. These elements are established by the government bodies, which are predominately the President or Congress. While economic activities rise and fall; both taxes and fiscal expenditures involuntarily act in response in ways that even out the economy. For instance, during an economic deceleration, the government s spending on benefits to the unemployed elevates automatically while the rate of unemployment increases. This spending increase is automatic in that it does not entail unequivocal proceedings by the President or Congress. Likewise, payments of tax decline automatically as the economy enters a recession (Shenk, 2008). In addition to the fiscal policy s automatic reactions, governments have the capacity to establish discretionary fiscal modifications in order to combat an economic downturn. For instance, the stimulus package and bailouts in which Congress recently approved is a great case in point of the discretionary fiscal policy. Fiscal policies may potentially have a remarkable impact on both the production and employment of a country. Expansionary fiscal policy seeks to enhance both an economy s demand and output. They do this through enhanced governmental expenditures, or through the reductions of tax which

During the process of a transition, if the child has additional needs, such as behavioural problems, then the practitioner is going to need to create an individual plan for the child and their family. This plan could ensure that the parents stay longer on the child first visit. Home visits can be helpful too. This individual plan will benefit the child, their parents and also the practitioners. If the family didn t speak English then this might cause concerns for the child and also the setting. The setting could overcome this by supporting the child by bringing an interpreter into the school. The parents can have support from the setting by the school providing leaflets about the school with lots of pictures, some videos, or a translated letter. The birth order of the individual child needs to be considered because that can have an effect on them. I have noticed in my setting that the younger child of the family is the most excited to start school because they want to be like their big brothers or sisters. Other studies show that birth order can also have an effect on the child s grades and personalities. Birth order within families has long sparked sibling rivalry, but it might also impact the child s personality and intelligence, a new study suggests. The colleague said We already do assessment. We give grade and course evaluations. If you want to know how much students are learning, look at their grades and course evaluations. The following paper will describe why grades are not acceptable methods for student learning. Additionally, it will propose a few questions that will make course evaluation data more useful in addressing accreditation requirements. Lastly, it will outline how NAU can effectively address Core Component 4. B. First, accreditation helps to ensure and improve the quality of an institution or program. It is a process that uses a set of standards that ensures quality of education based on measures of student learning. There are many accrediting organizations that review higher education institutions or specific programs within that institution. Accreditation provides many things to students and the public by making sure the institution or program lives up to its promises. • 53. Mango Essay This study represents the first attempt to characterize Colletotrichum species associated with anthracnose of mango leaves in Guangxi Province, China using morphological identification and phylogenetic analysis. In the present study, morphological characteristics of the isolates agreed with the description of C. gloeosporioides, but cultural characteristics, which may be diverse due to cultural conditions, and conidial morphology cannot distinguish between species in the C. gloeosporioides complex (Weir et al. 2012). Based on morphological identification, single genes sequence analysis and the five genecombined phylogenetic analysis, the isolates obtained from mango in Guangxi included in this study belongs to the C. gloeosporioides... C. asianum is a well known pathogen of mangoes from India, Australia, Panama, Thailand (Sharma et al. 2015), and also in postharvest of mango fruits from supermarkets in Changchun, northeast China (Liu et al. 2017). Colletotrichum fructicola is biologically and geographically diverse. The species is presently known from Colletotrichum arabica (Thailand), Pyrus pyrifolia (Japan), Limonium (Israel), apple and FragariaГ—ananassa (USA), Persea americana (Australia), ficus (Germany), apple (Brazil), Dioscorea (Nigeria), Theobroma and Tetragastris (Panama) (Weir et al. 2012), and Vitis (China) (Peng et al. 2013). C. fructicola has been described in association with mango in Brazil and Korea (Joa et al. 2016), however, this is the first description of C. fructicola infecting mango in China. Since, C. ignotum = C. fructicola (Weir et al. 2012), and our genetic analyses showed the isolates from these two species were in one clades but two subgroups. Colletotrichum siamense has been reported as a pathogen of mango anthracnose in Colombia (Pardo De la Hoz et al. 2016) and on mango fruit (Qin et al. 2017) in Sanya, Hainan Province, China, but this species is not common on mango in Guangxi Province, and only three isolates were found to
