reveals a deep connection between educational movements and social reform. The
readings for the first three weeks of this course have provided an overview of how
social reformers during this period were keen to promote an urban and modern
orientation to direct social reformmovements in rural Canada. Often, this perspective

While in recent years, more and more self help motivational books or websites may
be encouraging an All or Nothing attitude towards life in general, one would
indisputably agree that when an assured is taking up a policy, in this context, a
Marine Policy, one is trying to protect against risks of the unknown, and definitely
not signing up for a All or Nothing lottery game. However, two judgments in the
English Courts for rules on proximate causation, particularly cases with a
combination of perils to be considered, seemed to suggest the notion of Do you feel
lucky today? thus raising doubts on the justice of the rules on proximate causation in
the English marine insurance system.
Hence, this paper aims to discuss in greater depth the reasoning and outcome of
the two judgments i.e. the judgment of the Court of Appeal in The Miss Jay Jay
[1987] 1 Lloyd s Rep 32, and of the Supreme Court judgment in The Cendor MOPU
[2011] 1 Lloyd s Rep. 560, to see if they are an arguably sufficient justification for
the view that the English marine insurance system rules on proximate causation

Pagodas are a well known kind of architectural building that is located all throughout
the country of China. Pagodas have a rich history to China as well, and they have
been built all throughout Chinese history, as many look unique and different, due to
their respective dynasties having major differences in how they built them. While
other countries also have pagodas, we will be focusing only on China s. The first type
of pagoda that is considered to be one of the earliest known is called the close
eaved pagoda. A prime example of this pagoda is located at the Chongyusei Temple
in Dengfeng County in the Henan Province of China. The pagoda has twelve
sides, built entirely out of blue bricks, and stands at forty one meters tall while
containing fifteen close eaves. It was built in 523 A.D., and it has ten floors with
octagon shaped rooms that are connected by wooden stairs. It could be speculated
that the pagoda was built in a special way, as it came before concrete was dreamed

My invasive species that I m investigating is the American mink it is invasive in

The American mink s scientific name is Neovison vison and is a semiaquatic,
carnivorous animal. That belongs to the mustelid family. The American mink was
brought to England for fur farming for economic reasons, but some of the minks
escaped into the wild and started breeding. It took them 30 years to establish after
they escaped. When the otter s population dropped the minks started to grow in
numbers because the otters ate the minks. The mink s predators are birds of prey,
owls, foxes, coyotes, lynx, and otters.
