An idea that makes me excited about learning is vulnerability. We experience fear
and shame, when we don t have a sense of belonging. However, this helps us learn
from our experiences, change, and develop as stronger people. It is not others who

certain task. I remember that after I got kicked out of my house due to familystrife

1. Describe the tone Thoreau establishes in paragraph 2. How does it contribute to
the rhetorical effect of the paragraph? In paragraph two, Thoreau uses a depressing,
problematic and facetious tone to get his message across. Thoreau explains how he is
strongly against the United States government, and also points out problems of the
government. Thoreau uses depressing diction when describing the problems of the

Synesthesia is a disorder found in about 2% of the world s population. This is a
hereditary condition, often linked with genes passing from parent to offspring.
People with synesthesia are able to combine multiple senses and can often visualize
words as colors or taste sounds. Scientists are still unable to understand why evolution
has kept synesthesia around for so long and whether or not it has hidden benefits that
may be needed in the future.

When we think of violence, we often reflect on an image the news has portrayed.
We think of gun violence, robberies, or some other brutal attack that has left one
dead or seriously injured. It is common to assume that this is often occurs in low
income, poverty stricken areas. A description is provided of substance abusers,
broken families, racism, and a host of other reasons why violence occurs. Sometimes,
in the majority of cases, this description is correct.
At any time, workplace violence can occur. It can injure one person or various
people, emotionally, physically, and mental. Workplace violence occurs anytime
that violence is threatened against someone at work or there is a present threat of
violence. It is often committed against supervisors, managers, and fellow
employees by former or current employees. Workplace violence happens more
often than it should. Such as was the case when the apartment manager was stabbed
in Everett in July 2010. In the United States, there has been 20,000 assaults and 792
homicides that has occurred at workplaces, according to the U.S. Department of
Labor s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). One of the very
first publicized episode of workplace violence occurred in August of 1986. Patrick

Resilience Is An Essential Quality
INTRODUCTION
Nursing students experience enormous stress to meet the professional demands
[1]. Considerably, resilience is an essential quality that equips them to meet this
demand [2]. According to the American Psychological Association [2014],
resilience can be defined as, the process of adapting well in the face of adversity,
trauma, tragedy, threats or even significant sources of stress. It was reported in
nursing students that they experience moderate to high level of perceived stress
and this is negatively associated with resilience [3]. Moreover, resilience plays an
important role in the retention of students in the academic program [4], and has a
positive correlation with their academic success [5]. This helps them to cope
effectively with adversities in a clinical setting [6]. However, resilience is considered
as an innate personal resource [7], this is dynamic in nature [8]. Thus growing body
of literature recognizes the importance of resilience in nursing profession [9].
It is also worth noting a significant positive correlation between resilience and
mindfulness [10]. Mindfulness is being aware of the present moment to one s own
experiences [11]. Being mindful helps to cope with stressors [12], and resilience is
considered as a measure of stress coping ability. Thus, both resilience and
mindfulness play an important role in combating stress. Consequently, stress causes
