Malnutrition And Its Impact On Health And Social Care
Chapter 1
1.1 Introduction
Undernutrition is an outcome of insufficient quantity and quality of food and frequent episodes of
infectious diseases.
Globally, 162 million under five year olds are stunted and 56 percent of all stunted children live in
Asia and 36% in Africa while 99 million under five year olds are underweight and 67 percent of all
underweight children live in Asia and 29% in Africa. Wasting stands at 51 million under five year
olds are wasted and 17 million were severely wasted and approximately 71 percent of all severely
wasted children lived in Asia and 28 percent in Africa (WHO, 2006).
Malnutrition is still a problem in many developing countries particularly in Africa. It is estimated
that 47 million under five children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Asian American Culture
Understanding of the different cultural and racial population is important for counselors to
recognize and consider in counseling. Due to the various approaches that should be taken when
dealing with different cultures. Our textbook states Counseling without attention or respect to the
critical differences of diversity will likely not be successful. (Clinton Ohlschlager pg. 617) It is like
you must put their shoes on, within the context of culturefor the counselor to be effective. For
example, when dealing with Asian clients they are very likely to have intense familial relationships.
This contrasts with modern day United States American culture; our culture is centered on the self,
not the us.
Some of the Cultural psychosocial issues for Asian cultures are. Stress and conflict dealing with the
American view of individualism, assumptions based upon perceived intelligence in math and
science, and assimilation in to the American ideal of individualism. Furthermore, there is this

simply because of where I was born and raised for most of my life. The understanding of culture is

Essay about The Inadequacy of Paley s Argument from Design
The Inadequacy of the Argument from Design
William Paley s teleological argument (also known as the argument from design) is an attempt to
prove the existence of god. This argument succeeds in proving that while existence was created by
an aggregation of forces, to define these forces, as a conscious, rational, and ultimately godlike is
dubious. Although the conclusions are valid, the argument makes several logical errors. The
teleological argument relies on inductive reasoning, rendering the argument itself valid, but
unsound. The argument fails to apply its own line of reasoning to itself, resulting in infinite
regression. Beyond the scope of its logical flaws, the arguments content lacks accurate comparisons.
The argument hinges on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this type of argument is practical at predicting patterns of re occurring events, they are
never legitimately sound. Consider the sunrise. It has risen every day for thousands of years on
end. Therefore, it will rise tomorrow. Despite the odds of this happening being very high, there is
not a one hundred percent chance that it will. Furthermore, consider the existence of the universe
itself. Although the odds of life being created by a random amalgamation of forces are very low,
the correct combination for life to exist only has to occur once. From that point forward, evolution
and a reaction to external stimuli allows life to change naturally.
The argument also indulges in an infinite regression. It assumes that a transcendent god created
the entire universe. However, it fails to account for what created the god. As stated in the lecture
slides, a committee of lesser beings may have created the god, but that begs the question about
who created the committee. One could object to this idea and believe that god has always existed,
transcending time and reality itself. Once again, however, this logic is just as applicable to the
universe. The universe is as capable of existing forever as a god is.
William Paley further begs the question in stating that because of perceived complexities in an
entity, it must have been designed. This perceived relation between complexity and design is an

that researched the opportunities children have of escaping poverty based on the location their
families currently lived in or moved to. The study found that Based on the earnings records of
millions of families that moved with children, it finds that poor children who grow up in some
cities and towns have sharply better odds of escaping povertythan similar poor children elsewhere
(Leonhardt, Cox, Miller, 2015). The main point of the study was that Geography does not merely

Fever, 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson
Point of View: The novel is narrated by Mattie Cook in the first person. She is only able to speak
for herself. The only thoughts and feelings she displays are her own and the story is set
wherever she is. Setting: The story takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1973. The
epidemic hits the city in the late summer months and lasts until December. Mattie lives with with
her mother and grandfather above a coffeehouse her family owns. There is little medical
knowledge at the time which leads to little control over the virus. They are many africans living
free in Philadelphia at the time also. There are also many mentions of the Free African Society.
The setting and plot are rather historically accurate and reflect the events of the time period. For
example, a yellow fever strain hit Philadelphia in the year 1793 in August. As well as date
accuracy, many of the people mentioned were alive at the time. This includes people like,
Benjamin Rush, Jean Pierre Blanchard and George Washington. References to the Free African
Society are correct too. The FAS was founded in Philadelphia and actually did help victims of the
yellow fever. The last historical accuracy was the hospital at Bush Hill. Main Character: Matilda
Cook is an adventurous and independence seeking 14 year old girl. Although she always being
pestered by her mother, Mattie loves her mother dearly and worries when her mother does not
return home after going the the Luddington s farm. Mattie struggle with

What Are The Three Branches Of The Federal Government Essay
The United States of America, commonly known as the U.S., is a federal republic that is
comprised of 50 individual states. The states created a single central authority call the Federal
Government. Although each state has their own laws and government structure, the federal
government is empowered to act on the states behalf on a select set of issues. The areas of federal
control are defined in the United Statesconstitution. As a safety precaution against the federal
government becoming too influential, the framers of the constitution separated the powers of the
federal government into three branches of government. The first branch is the executive branch.

Congress. The third branch of the US government is the judicial branch. The judicial branch is
in charge of interpreting the laws that are passed by the legislative branch. As stated previously,
the legislative branch of the federal government, aka U.S. Congress, is in charge of creating,
scrutinizing, and approving laws but also confirms or rejects the executive branches
appointments and has the ability to declare war. Congress consist of two chambers, the Senate
and the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives is a chamber of congress that is
lead legislative debate and draft s new laws. Each member of the House of Representatives are
elected by equally sized electoral districts for a two year term. The Senate, the secondary chamber,
of Congress contains two elected legislators to represent each of the U.S. 500 states for a six year
term. The Senate ensures that the laws created by the House of Representative does not
disproportionately affect certain states. Because of the ever changing nature of the United States
and the issues that arise from that change, the U.S. Congress, both the House of Representatives
and the Senate, have legislative sub organizations called congressional committees that

Huntington s Disease Study
Huntington s disease, or HD, is a genetic neuro generative condition that is characterized by
progressive dysfunction in motor, cognitive and behavioral abilities. There are about 4 10 cases per
100,000 throughout the world, which makes it one of the most prevalent genetic neuro generative
disorders. Huntington s disease is a dominant gene mutation that occurs in the huntingtin gene. The
result is an excessive repeat of the nucleotide triad cytosine adenine guanine (CAG) and causes
damage to neurons. The striatum of the brainand the cerebral cortex are most affected by the gene
but other parts of the brain atrophy as well. Typically, onset begins around the 4th decade of life

compared the metabolic profiles of pre manifest, manifest HD and control groups. The results
showed that amylin and ghrelin levels were significantly increased in all HD subjects compared to
the control group. The increase in ghrelin, an appetite stimulant, and amylin, an appetite
suppressant, demonstrates the numerous abnormalities regarding regulation of food ingestion and
absorption (Wang et al., 2014).
Another abnormality observed was a significant decrease in glucagon in the manifest HD group
compared to the control group. Glucagon plays a major role in upholding normal metabolism in
the body. It also acts as a protective agent by reducing the neurotoxic glutamate. Therefore, a
decrease in glucagon can play a significant part in the pathogenesis of Huntington s disease (Wang
et al., 2014).
Adiponectin is a hormone that is released from adipose tissue and is negatively correlated with
Body Mass Index. In HD subjects, this correlation was not significant. Decreased adiponectin
levels is usually linked with obesity and insulin resistance. These changes suggest that irregular
adipocyte function is associated with the metabolic changes in the pathophysiology of Huntington
s disease. Prolactin and total cholesterol levels were also decreased in all HD subjects and
showed erratic levels of leptin. This is likely due to impaired food digestion and absorption, which
is also supported by the increased amylin levels. Essentially, the study s findings show that HD
patients have a decreased ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis and abnormal hormone levels
(Wang et al.,

The Effect Of Strain Gauge Rosette Used For Multi Channel...
Abstract While calculating the results from the collected data, the thin plate shows non linear
behaviour such that stress does not vary linearly with strain. In theory when pressure is
concentrated at the centre of a circular plate, stress value decreases with respect to increasing radial
distance from the centre. However in this case, we see that there are two principal stresses and they
behave differently than one another. This experiment will introduce us to a new strain gauge called
strain gauge rosette used for multi channel strain measurement and other equations to calculate
principal stresses and strains in a two dimensional state. Introduction For a thin circular plate, stress
and strain usually occur in a two dimensional state. As it is difficult to measure stress, strains are
instead measured in real life practices and its corresponding stress values are calculated. The most
popular measuring tool for strain is the strain gauge. Since strain is the measure of change in
displacement over the original dimension of a structure, the measuring tool must be sensitive
enough to detect that small change in displacement. Thus, we can learn how to handle sensitive
measuring equipment and ways to ensure that the data collected is as accurate as possible and also
to omit any errors that will affect the final calculation. Besides that, we can broaden our knowledge
on multi channel strain measurements because in reality two dimensional strains are not

Analysis Of Clara Barton s Life
Introduction Clara Barton had many accomplishments throughout her life in all her endeavors. Her
story begins at a young age and continues into her career as a valuable individual saving lives as a
nurse. The accumulation of events and contributing factors that Barton experienced from her
childhood into her adult years shaped her into the nurse remembered in history and helped mold the
face of nursing for the future.
Background
Clara Barton is most notably remembered for her accomplishments, with the Red Cross and
nursing, however, her story begins years earlier when she was born December 25th, 1821 (Evans
2003). Barton was born to Stephen and Sarah Barton and grew up in New Oxford, Massachusetts.

Barton not only became a teacher during a period where female teachers were rare, but she also
opened the first free public school in New Jersey. Though the school was not immediately
successful, it eventually took root and began to grow. It increased so much so that another school
had to be built. In 1854, Barton resigned from teaching and became one of the first women to be
employed by the federal government as a clerk at U.S Patent Office (Jones 2012).
In 1861 at the Baltimore riot, soldiers from the 6th Massachusetts infantry were attacked. Many
were wounded and killed. After hearing about the devastation, Barton left her work and went to
tend to those wounded (Jones 2012). Barton, who led by example, was able to build up a
volunteer network that lasted the entirety of the war. In March of 1865, Barton started the Office
of Correspondence with friends of the missing men in the United States Army. Barton, with the
help of volunteers, identified over 22,000 missing men. The searches for missing men led her to
assist in establishing a national cemetery, where they properly marked the graves of nearly 13,000
men (Gorlick 2002). Barton s great accomplishment with the war efforts gave her the opportunities
to speak throughout the Northwest and Midwest. After two years of traveling and speaking, Barton

The Political Parties During The 20th Century
The political parties today have undisputed role in the democratic process. Gaining importance
throughout the 20th century, they proved to be an instrumental mobilizing device, aiming to
involve the majority of the population in the political process for the first time in history.
Moisei Ostrogorski was a pioneer in the field with his works comparing the political parties in
the US and Britain. In his works he argued that parties are becoming inseparable part of the
democratic process within the state whenever this life of parties is developed, it focuses the
political feelings and the active will of its citizens (Ostrogorski in Hauge and Harrop:2010).
Ostrogorski`s stance on the increasing importance of parties in a democratic state politicsproved to
be justified in the countries of Western Europe, where the democratic tradition is strong, mass
political parties competed for the votes of ever increasing electorate. Parties proved to be important
even in non democratic societies in fascist and socialist states single parties dominated the state,
even in certain cases coalesced with it. The 20th centuryproved to be very important in the party
development process. They discarded the image of engagement mainly in capturing the leavers of
power and even ruling against the public will and interest. Since then parties have been accepted as
a necessary instrument that shapes the collective interest, whose role is explicitly noted in the state
constitutions. The topic of

Toys And Gender Stereotypes
Compartmentalization is a process that begins before a person even takes their first breath in this
world. The color of their room is picked out based upon gender as is their clothes, toys, and name
all before they are born. Girls get girl names, girl toys, and other girly things so that they know
what genderthey are, as if it was a hard thing to figure out. The same thing occurs with boys but
young ladies are the ones being held back from aspiring to do big things or really anything other
than cooking and being a mom. This issue is largely due to compartmentalization being that our
entire lives are predetermined by society based on our gender and while many break free from the
stereotypes it is much harder to do so when your entire community... Show more content on

The fashion doll Barbie came into the lives of children everywhere in America in 1959 when the
toy company Mattel Inc. began producing them on a mass scale. These toys would create a huge
gender stereotype at first where Barbies were just being made to look pretty and fashionable, it
was not until later they gave Barbie many versatile roles to inspire girls to be much more than
pretty. Pleasant Company later came out with American Girl in 1986 which were different from
Barbie and typically came with a book. The books usually captured the past in a romanticized
manor and but also had some very empowering messages for girls which was a step in the right
direction. Then Bratz in 2001 made by MGA Entertainment which had an entirely new take on
gender role orientation. Research presented by Karniol, Stuemler Cohen, and Lahav Gur (2012)
suggest that girls gender role orientations have an impact on which doll they prefer. The study
they conducted pertained only to younger girls who explained their preference as to why they
might choose a Bratz doll over a Barbie doll or why they might not even have a preference at all
and how their perception of gender coincides with their choices. Bratz were marketed to teens, or
dolls for tweens, which appealed largely to older girl on their way to becoming teens. In their
research they look at feminine versus masculine traits in the dolls and incorporate how the girls
might associate those traits with the dolls they state that, Feminine girls, who are more gender
stereotyped, would be expected to indicate greater liking of Barbie, which is more stereotypical in
her clothing, coloring, and appearance. (Karniol et al., 2012, p.889). Karinol argued that the doll
that the girls chose would be based off their gender role identity and that by following the four

Hut and the country London.
Company background
Pizza Hut started in 1958 in Wichita USA, when two brothers, Frank and Dan Carney opened the
world s first Pizza Hut by borrowing six hundred dollars from their mother. In 1973, Pizza Hut
came into the UK. That was the start of Pizza Hut and it has now the biggest pizza name in the

company that Pizza Hut competes with. And all of them have very similar business pattern, engage
in international business, fast food franchise, delivery service and dine in which creates intense
competition. Pizza Hut also competes with small pizza restaurant as they offer faster service and
lower price products, which can be a disadvantage for Pizza Hut.
Threats of new entrants, LOW. Now, Pizza Hut is facing the effect of a deep recession due to more
competition, high ingredient costs and slim margins. However, existing competitors keep giving
discounts and lowering their product prices which create barriers to the entrants as well. Also, they
have mature technology and relationship with different distribution channels. Therefore, current
competitors have a first mover advantages.
Threats of substitutes, HIGH. There is a high availability of substitutes for quick pizza restaurants.
Pizza Hut mainly provides pizza which has various substitutes, such as spaghetti, baked rice and
sandwiches etc. like all other pizza restaurants offer, fast, convenient and cheap products and
services as well. The price competition is the threat of substitutes. They are more elastic since

since the development of social networking sites, people are now able to create a carefully crafted
identity for themselves. This has led psychologists to question how well these online personalities

how social networking portrays individuals and initiates human interactions within a society.
A basic question is how well are people able to get to know each other through social networking

Gosling polled the group using a standard Five Factor model personality test which measured
extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness to new
experiences (Steele, Evans, Green, 2008). Then researchers rated the same subjects based solely on
their Facebook profiles, which usually included pictures and lists of interests.
The researchers found a correlation between assessments in four of the five categories. Gosling was
not surprised that emotional stability was the only attribute showing no significant results across
personal and online assessments because it is a quality that people are good at concealing across
most media (Wilson, 2007). Although the extroversion category showed the highest correlation,
research suggests that openness to new experience is perhaps exhibited better online than in person.
Judith Donath, an associate professor at the Media Laboratory at MIT who reviewed Gosling s
research, divides the content of social networking sites into signals and unintended cues. According
to Donath, Facebook users do not intend to share super personal information on their profiles.
People who happen to share a personal status update might be perceived as over sharing without
meaning to (Wilson, 2007).

driving is a problem amongst teens. One of the leading causes of death for teens is car accidents.
When teens drink they are at a bigger risk of getting in an accident. This has been a problem for
teens for many years and will continue to be a problem if teens are not aware of the negative
effects. Austin Hill,18, was driving drunk one night down a residential area when he hit a 15 year
old driver who was ejected from the car and was later pronounced dead. Austin was traveling 119
miles per hour when he hit the other young teen. He was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Everyone hates to see their parents fight and don t like being in the middle of it. Some teens feel
the need to drink because it s a way out of their sticky situations. Parents need to pay more
attention to their kids and they need to realize that their kids are watching them and following in
their footsteps. If a teen has a parent who is a drinker they have a greater chance of becoming a
drinker. Alcoholcauses people to be unaware of their surrounding and causes people to make bad
choices.
Lastly, drinking and driving is still a problem because of the negative effects it causes on teens.
If you get caught drinking and driving it s a major setback in your life whether it s because you
got pulled over by a police officer or got in a automobile accident. Drinking and driving can cost
you a big ticket and in more extreme cases even your life. There is no good reason to drink and
drive when your life is on the line because you re not just hurting yourself but the people who care
about you are hurt too.
Research has shown that the amount of teens who drink and drive now, have reduced by 54%
since 30 years ago. So teens in this day and age are more aware of the negative outcomes and
refrain from making bad decisions. Also, the laws are more strict about drinking than they were 30

The French And Haitian Revolution
THE AMERICAN, FRENCH AND HAITIAN REVOLUTION3The Haitian RevolutionThe
Haitian Revolution which took place in the year 1791 and went up to 1803 faced twelve years of
insurgency and infighting in a bid to abolish the then entrenched slave trade (Geggus, 2002). The
revolt in Haiti started as a result of a misunderstanding between the mulattoes and the whites which
then escalated into a fully fledged warfare in which the slaves fought with the aim of taking back
their freedom from their white masters (Bryan, 1984). In summary, therefore, the HaitiRevolution
can be termed as a political movement which sought the abolishment and culmination of a long
ongoing slave trade, decolonization, and racial impartiality. In 1804, having won over the whites,...

As a result, the Napoleon together with the French revolutionary armies invaded the European
colonies armed with radical institutional reforms and changes (Acemoglu et al., 2009). The French
aimed to get rid of the judicial and economic set standards which had initially offered protection to
the aristocratic oligarchies, fraternity, clergy and the noble. In so doing, the French were seeking to
bring about the proposition of the law of equality for all humankind and thus promote liberty for

French invasion had no adverse impact on the countries which were run by it and instead showeda

1 Corinthian
The essential topic of the story is recommended by the undeniable incongruity of the title, for
Marian s visit isn t one of genuine philanthropy, but instead a formal, regulated signal. It
absolutely does not speak to the scriptural thought of philanthropy in 1 Corinthians, which is
translated in the Revised Standard Version of the Bible as adoration, or thoughtful distinguishing
proof of one individual with another. From the earliest starting point of the story, Marian does
not think about the two old ladies as individuals like herself. She not exclusively knows about the
weirdness of the old women, yet she likewise has turned into an outsider to herself. Tossed out of
her natural world, where she has a place, she is in a bizarre dreamworld, where she seriously feels
her distinction from the old women and along these lines her own particular partition and
segregation. This emblematic feeling of distance clarifies the odd, illusory impact of the nursing

Similarities Between Spiritual And Spiritual Fears
Before stepping into the similarities and differences among spiritual and physical fears, it is
important to understand the meaning/concept of these two ideas. With my understanding, spiritual
fears as said in the text, is that which is supernatural, far beyond the constraints of a human body,
either it is beyond ... or without the body (Lovecraft, 232). These are fears which are not tangible,
or that can be visibly seen, rather are uncertainties which the individuals body is attempting to cope
with against their internal problems. Moreover, physical fears are quite straightforward, as what
the name states, these are simple worries which are developed through materialism, and lack of
ignorance, as often times individuals are terrified of certain items, such as people, without truly
being able to understand and know them. These things that create uneasiness in society are visible,
and commonly dreaded by a group of people rather than spiritual fears, which tend to be more
based on one on one (fearvs one person). With that said, let us now understand the similarities and
differences between these two factors.
Differences:
To begin with, the first differenceI would like to mention is that of spiritual factors being
experienced by individuals thought to be crazy and insane, while additionally these fears being
those which are merely experienced on a one on one basis, and most importantly invisible. For
further clarification, there is merely one victim attempting to

a series of steps. The first step is to understand the why s of buyer behavior. This is done through

Theories Of Brutality And Horrors Of World War I
Following the brutality and horrors of World War I, people began to question their traditional
beliefs. New answers to the world s questions came from scientific developments, women, literature,
and art. Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud were revolutionary scientists in the 20th century.
Einstein, a German physicist, proposed the idea that space and time are in fact not constant (though
the speed of light is). He came up with his theory of relativity that created uncertainty and replaced
Isaac Newton s belief that the world was governed by absolute laws of motion and gravity. Sigmund
Freud, an Austrian physician, developed a theory about the human mind based on his experience
with patients with psychological problems. Freud believed that the mind has an irrational
component, which he called the unconscious, that has a number of drives of which the conscious
mind is unaware. Other scientists also developed new technologies during and after the war,
particularly in the medical and technological fields. Automobiles skyrocketed in popularity,
airplanes became increasingly successful, and radios and movies dominated entertainment. New...

Carl Sandburg; a 20th century American Poet, once defined poetry as ...the opening and closing of
a door, leaving those who look through to guess about what is seen during that moment. Sandburg
attempts to suggest that an experience can be expressed by a poet via the way language is used.
Many writers are influenced heavily by the political, social, and environmental situations that they
ve experienced, which may need to be known to the reader to fully understand what the writer is
trying to communicate through their works.
Langston Hughes was initially recognised as an important literary figure in the 1920s, a period
commonly referred to as the Harlem Renaissance which was based in Harlem, New York City.
During this period there was an exceptional amount of black writers that were emerging such as
Countee Cullen, Claude McKay and Langston Hughes. This literary period is best known for its
use of blues and folklore in many famous pieces and the African American writers that emerged
during this time. Hughes was very active in social and political causes, He often used his poems
as a medium for cultural protest. He wrote over 50 books and his play Mulatto; a term originally

The Oceans Of The Ocean
Oceans are bodies of saline water that make up for much of the Earth s hydrosphere.
Approximately, oceans cover 71% of Earth s surface and 90% of the Earth s biosphere. There are
five oceans that cover our globe Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern or Antarctic and Arctic. In spite
of all the water surrounding us, we know very little of the oceans and the life within them. The
mysteries are awe inducing as well as leave you in fear.
1.Unknown sounds.
In 1997, NOAA hydrophones picked up one of the loudest sounds ever recorded off the southern
coast of South America the Bloop was recorded by two hydrophones nearly 3,000 miles (4,800
kilometres) apart. Another sound named Julia was recorded in 1999. According to NOAA, the
most likely explanation for these two sounds is that it was the sound of a large iceberg fracturing.
2.Underwater rivers.
When seawater dribbles through thick layers of salt, the salt dissolves and forms depressions in
the seafloor. That dissolved salt makes the water in that area denser and it settles into the
depressions. These underwater lakes and rivers, also called brine pools, are similar to land based
rivers they have shorelines, and even waves.
3.Milky Sea Phenomenon.
The Milky Sea Phenomenon, most common in the Indian Ocean occurs on account of
bioluminescent bacterial action. These cause the water to turn blue, which to the naked eye appear
as milky white in colour in the darkness. The Milky Sea phenomenon has been recognized to be in

Questions On Search Engines By A Search Engine
Assignment 1
Search Engines
The two main functionalities executed by a search engines are building and crawling an index,
provision of a hierarchical list of the most relevant websites for search users. A world wide web
is like a big networked city with stops and subway system. Each stop, usually a web page is
unique. The search engine needs to formulate a method to span the whole town and identify all
breaks alongside the way. The search engine, therefore, uses the best path available that is what we
commonly refer to as links. The connection configuration of the web servers binds all the pages
together. Using links, automated robots known as crawlers can reach billions of documents that
connect to each other in the web (Fishkin, 2015). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Search engines serve as an answering machine by providing, firstly, the results that are more
relevant to the search query. Secondly, the ranking of results in order of popularity of the website
that is serving the information. An assumption made by Search engines is that the more prevalent
a website or web page is, the more useful the information it contains. A search engine will always
use mathematical equations to determine the popularity and relevance of a web page or website.
This algorithm will be used to separate the sort and later on rank in the order of its popularity and
quality. The mathematical algorithms contain variety of variables often mentioned to as place
factors.

History Of Marketing And The Marketing Strategy
The history of marketing can be traced back to the longest possible time probably further than you
thought. It will not be an exaggeration to say that it is as old as civilization itself. The probability
of success of any business lies in the marketing strategy it adopts. Simply put, if you are not
marketingyour business, you are in for a loss. While this concept remained unchanged, the ways of
marketing have changed several folds over the last few centuries.

which became increasingly affordable with advances in the printing press; and medicines, which

Magical Realism through Setting in GarcГa MГЎrquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold
Question: How far does setting serve to reinforce or emphasize meanings or themes within
Chronicle of a Death Foretold?
Work Used: Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez
In Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez, the setting plays a potent role in
showing a certain theme. Especially what happens in a certain setting plays a dominant part in
developing a theme. MГЎrquez is best known for his use of magical realism in his novels. He
repeatedly uses strange, surreal details to highlight otherwise ordinary events. Magical realism is an
important theme grown with the setting of the novel. Magical realism is the fantastic or imaginary
and often unsettling images or events that are depicted in a sharply detailed and realistic manner.
In other words, it is the use of unusual or impossible characteristics in a real life setting. Magical
realism allows magical elements to be inserted into a text to make it more interesting and appealing
to the reader. MГЎrquez uses setting to portray those magical elements like foreshadowing, abuse
of power, and the concept of mutual respect through magical realism.
The first example of magical realism is when Santiago foreshadows his death through a dream. At
the beginning of the novel, it says on Pages 3 and 4 that He d dreamed he was going through a

violated the Tenure of Office act by removing Stanton and not receiving the Senate s approval. With
these two violations committed by Johnson the Judiciary Committee voted to submit a report
recommending impeachment. 7
The House of Representatives drafted eleven articles of impeachment. The first eight articles
described specific actions by the President that violated the Tenure of Office Act. The ninth article
charged the President with trying to persuade an army officer to violate the 1867 Army
Appropriation Act. The tenth article charged that in numerous public speeches the President

surrounded by connective tissue membranes, called meninges and by cerebrospinal fluid.
The brain is divided into the cerebrum, diencephalon, brain stem and cerebellum.
The largest portion of the brain is the cerebrum which is divided into two cerebral hemispheres. The

The diencephalon is centrally located and is nearly surrounded by the cerebral hemispheres. The

Persuasive Essay On Dreaming
When humans are asleep they create new realities in their brains. To most people these realities
are called dreams. Dreaming occurs during the process of REM. REM is rapid eye movement.
One of the most asked questions about dreaming is why do humans dream. Humans dream
because they have certain wants or desires that cannot be achieved while being awake. Creating a
new reality with accomplish these desires and leave the person feeling good. Dreaming can create
many feelings. People think that dreaing only happens to creative people. But that is not true,
everyone dreams! Dreaming can come in many different ways. Dreams. What are they? Dreaming
is the process when humans are sleeping and they create stories based on their pleasures.
Researchers have found that there is still more to discover about the process of dreaming because
the author says As with many things concerning the brain and unconscious thought, there is so
much that remains unknown about dreaming (Hannah Nichols). Based on Hannah s article
Dreams: Why do we Dream?, some possible explanations for dreaming are unconscious desires
and wishes. Every human wishes something in their life, even when they do not realize it. Being
asleep unlocks those desires and humans make a reality where that wish comes true. The next
possible explanation for dreaming is to interpret signals from the brain and body. When humans
fall asleep our brains are the most active than being awake. Our brains try to process what is

Ewaste and the Basel Convention
Our world is constantly changing around us, with technology regularly advancing and improving.
Old technology and devices are being exchanged for newer objects. These discarded items contain
hazardous waste (both to human health and the environment) and more waste is created during the
manufacturing process. This creates a vast amount of electronic waste, henceforth referred to as
ewaste. The amount of ewaste is growing exponentially; according to the US Environmental
Protection Agency an estimate of 5 to 10 percent increase worldwide is expected each year (STEP
Initiative). Even more alarming is that only 5% of this amount is being recovered and is properly
disposed (STEP Initiative). Today s globally interconnected economy ensures that there is no county
in the world that does not have a hazardous wasteproblem (Basel Convention, Simplified Text).
Despite this being a global problem, there are very few international laws concerning the regulation
of ewaste, except for the UN Basel Convention and its more recent declarations, instead with
countries being left to come up with their own laws. International Laws also contain broad
definitions of what constitutes ewaste. The Basel Convention on the Control of Trans boundary
Movements of Hazardous Wastes heralded a new era in international cooperation with regard to
dealing in trans boundary trade in hazardous waste, and also guidelines and regulations to ensure

The Effectiveness of the Jackson County Oregon
Community Family Court
According to the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP), 1 out of every 100
people in the United States has been incarcerated ( The Facts on Drugs, n.d.). Substance abuse is
partly to blame. Approximately 60 percent of prison inmates had a positive drug test when they
were arrested (National Institute of Justice, 1999). A judgesupervises community family drug courts

their crimes. Drug courts are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Census Bureau, n.d.). In 2001, the Jackson County Oregon CFC program was started (Carey,
S.M. et al., 2010, p. II). The program length takes at least 12 months to complete and involves
three different phases of treatments and requirements in order to graduate successfully.
Participation in the program was determined on an individual basis by the court. Participants
were excluded if they refused to admit they had a substance abuse problem or were charged with
a felony. Participation or graduation from the program does not guarantee successful family
reunification (Office of Justice Programs, n.d.). The CFC program incorporates the Ten Key
Components of Drug Courts guidelines that are a national standard set by the NADCP to assess
drug court programs (Carey, S.M. et al., 2010, p. I). One key component the CFC program
included using a multi disciplinary team approach that was coordinated with the court system. By
using multiple agencies such as the court system, drug treatment programs and child welfare
systems the program was able to promote better results with participant recovery and family
reunification (U.S. Dept. of Justice, Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance,
2004). Treatments and programs were individualized to each participant s unique needs.
Participants were also screened and placed in treatment quickly which, in the long run, resulted in
less time for the child to be in foster care. Placing participants in

The Main Problems in Fallen Societies
Societies fall due to three main problems, corrupt government, unemployment, and lack of
freedom for citizens. So many things have fallen from grace, including society, I say it as a
whole and not a plural due to the general rule that every society falls at some point. In a few
sentences, describe what your entire essay will be about. You should state the three reasons why
great civilizations and societies fall. There are three main reasons, all stemming from that fact that
humans destroy what they build, all in good time to the proximity of the original building of that
particular society, some societies hold on longer than others, and some disappear almost the same
day they were built, everything s different, but every fallen societies have suffered from the plague
that is corrupt government, unemployment, and lack of freedoms. So many things have fallen
from grace, including society, I say it as a whole and not a plural due to the general rule that every
society falls at some point. But why, why do these powerful, wondrous, and wealthy societies
crumble in the metaphorical palm of the universe? There are three main reasons, all stemming from
that fact that humans destroy what they build, all in good time to the proximity of the original
building of that particular society, some societies hold on longer than others, and some disappear
almost the same day they were built, everything s different, but every fallen societies have suffered

New York The City That Never Sleeps
New York the city that never sleeps. The buildings are astonishingly tall, from couple thousands
feet in the air you could see the New York skyline, with the world trade center towering over the
rest of the building. North of the trade center from a distance you can see the previous tallest
building in NY the Empire state buildingand around there is called midtown/times square. Little bit
more north you ll see a large green square and is the only green/plants places you see in on the
island. The green looking structure couple miles south of lower Manhattanis the famous Statue of
liberty the most people has heard of. The city is full of people from every corner of the world,
immigrant first stop is this city and has influences the city layout. New York is a tourist magnet
with many things tourist can do in the city, the city is home of the United Nations headquarters,
Empire state building, exotic museums, and entertainment hub. The city is full of life 27/7 days
of the year, there always something to do, always something happening, and always something
see. In New York there is always something for any interest, whether you like history, architecture,
shopping, or nightlife the city has it. First thing anyone should do is visit time square 47th street,
where you would find the busy part of the city. People walking in packs hurrying along, the smell
of carbon monoxide from the masses of taxis pack on the streets, and the smell of foods coming
from shops around the area.

American History Website Evaluation Essay
The American Revolution Website Evaluation
The United States revolution is one of the most iconic events in not just American, but world
history. So when performing research on a platform as vast as the internet, proper precautions must
be taken. A well designed and thorough web evaluation should be done to ensure the credibility
and integrity of the website s content. Certain Criteria involve who authored the website, when the
website was created, when it was last updated, who the website was intended for, what types of
resources the website offers, and the sites overall value to the reader.
The website www.ushistory.org is a very informative website that tells about the people and events
of the American Revolution. The website ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another informative and authoritative website about the American Revolution is
www.theamericanrevolution.org. The website is authored and updated by Joseph Logan, who is a
self proclaimed historian and revolutionary enthusiast. He frequently works with schools and
universities to inform and educated students on the revolutionary period. The site was originally
just a way for Logan to document and share his readings about the revolutionary leader John Adams
. However, after only one year, the site started to explode exponentially. Logan read over 200
books about the revolution and documented everything he could from revolutionary leaders to
iconic events. This extensive research is reflected in the wide amount and detailed writings about
the revolution. The last update took place in February of 2010 however since this type of website
is very static in nature, that update was a fairly recent one. Originally created for middle and high
school students, this website now informs readers of all ages and education levels. The resources
and content that this website offers is beyond valuable. Every single revolutionary leader from
Adams to Wilson has a biography and picture associated with them. The site also has summaries
and related documents to all of the major battles in the war. Including how

Byronic Hero In Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a critique of the Byronic hero, as exemplified in Lord Byron s
Manfred. The Byronic hero is a protagonist who has the following traits: self inflicted agony, a high
self esteem, isolation from society, an exaggerated sense of independence, and genuine guilt. All of
these traits Manfred bears, but Victor lacks two of these attributes. The lead protagonists, Victor and
Manfred, have two key differences: genuine remorse and independence. Victor s guilt is false when
compared with that of Manfred. Victor relinquishes some of his autonomy to the monster in
Frankenstein, in contrast to Manfred s steadfast hold of complete self government. These
differences, seen in Victor s personality amount to a critique of... Show more content on

Lastly, a Byronic hero has genuine guilt. This requires more action than contemplating, and
continuously reiterating that a tragedy by his hand occurred. Manfred possesses all of these traits;
however, Victor lacks true remorse and retention of his independence.
Manfred s guilt can be perceived as genuine because of three actions he takes in the play. He
verbally takes responsibility for being the cause, he seeks a solution, and he asks Astarte, the
one he s wronged, for forgiveness directly. My wrongs were all on those I should ve cherished
But my embrace was fatal (II, 87 88). In this line, Manfred voices responsibility for the actions
that took place to the Chamois Hunter, confirming his feelings. In the play, Manfred seeks out
three sources in the hopes of alleviating his suffering: the seven spirits, the Witch and Arimanes,
to whom Manfred requests the summoning of deceased Astarte (II, 79 80). His plea for
forgiveness comes during his time with Astarte s spirit. Yet one word more am I forgiven? (III,
152). The act of asking for forgiveness is the purest way to express true remorse and regret to
those who have been wronged, and this differentiates Manfred from Victor the most. His seeking
forgiveness also validates Manfred s love for Astarte is a concept that Victor may not be able to
grasp.
Victor expresses the misery he feels regarding his actions in relation to the monster with zeal, but
his remorse proves to be false when viewed with

Illegal Trafficking Is A Source, Transit, And Destination...
According to the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, Bangladesh is a source, transit, and
destination for human trafficking involving women, men, and children (1). Bangladeshi men and
women are lured into work under false pretenses within their own country or into neighboring
countries (2). A large proportion of cross border trafficking in Bangladesh is due to migration in
search of employment. Most are subjected to forced labor or forced prostitution(3).
Thousands of unreported children are trafficked from Bangladesh to other countries every year
(2). Children who are taken by traffickers often come from impoverished or isolated regions. The
parents are promised that their children will have a well paid job or a nice marriage (4).
Impoverished and desperate, they trust the offers, which ultimately lead their children to be
exploited through trafficking (7).
3)If this is a destination country and/or if there is internal human trafficking, which forms of
trafficking are common in this country? (If you think that there are no forms of trafficking
happening within this country, provide citations about that and some reasons why it is not
happening. The reasons don t have to be proven, but they must be plausible.)
Within the country, trafficked people are subjected to sex trafficking, domestic servitude, or forced
and bonded labor (7).
Girls are commonly trafficked into sexual exploitation or bonded servitude. The sexual exploitation
of boys is a fast growing issue in

The Relationship Between Parents and Their Children in...
The Relationship Between Parents and Their Children in Silas Marner by George Eliot A child
more than all other gifts
That Earth can offer to a declining man
Brings hope with it and forward looking thoughts. William Wordsworth
The novel Silas Marner was written by George Eliot in 1863. George Eliot s real name was Mary
Ann Evans and she was farced to change it because of the role of women at that time. If the book
were published under a female name it would be ridiculed and would not sell. This is ... Show more

Molly decides to take the child to Godfrey and demand shelter and money but dies on the way to
let the tiny child wander into the warmth of Silas Marner s cottage. Silas takes the child and
looks after it, nursing it and returning to his old self, before he was banned from Lantern Yard.
Godfrey marries Nancy Lammeter but fails to have children with her. He goes to claim Eppie but
Eppie decides to stay with Silas, so concluding the fairytale with happiness for the goodies and
death and misery for the baddies when Dunstan Cass is found at the bottom of a lake with Silas
money.
Some of the Victorian values that would have influenced George Eliot are the traditional family
values and the role of women in families and society. Women were expected to stay at home and
look after the family. They were not expected to work or do anything to displease their husbands. At
the time, George Eliot was writing her book, the industrial revolution was also taking place and
economic and class values were changing. England was going through a series of tumultuous
cultural, social and economic transformations.
This could be reflected in the seemingly robotic work Silas does. He weaves continually only to
save every penny into a box under his floorboards for him to count and worship.
Silas first sees Eppie asleep by his fire and he sees not a

Due to the various approaches that should be taken when dealing with different cultures. Our textbook states Counseling without attention or respect to the critical differences of diversity will likely not be successful. (Clinton Ohlschlager pg. 617) It is like you must put their shoes on, within the context of culturefor the counselor to be effective. • 4. Essay about The Inadequacy of Paley s Argument from Design The Inadequacy of the Argument from Design William Paley s teleological argument (also known as the argument from design) is an attempt to prove the existence of god. This argument succeeds in proving that while existence was created by an aggregation of forces, to define these forces, as a conscious, rational, and ultimately godlike is dubious. Although the conclusions are valid, the argument makes several logical errors. The teleological argument relies on inductive reasoning, rendering the argument itself valid, but unsound. The argument fails to apply its own line of reasoning to itself, resulting in infinite regression. Beyond the scope of its logical flaws, the arguments content lacks accurate comparisons. The argument hinges on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this type of argument is practical at predicting patterns of re occurring events, they are never legitimately sound. Consider the sunrise. It has risen every day for thousands of years on end. Therefore, it will rise tomorrow. Despite the odds of this happening being very high, there is not a one hundred percent chance that it will. Furthermore, consider the existence of the universe itself. Although the odds of life being created by a random amalgamation of forces are very low, the correct combination for life to exist only has to occur once. From that point forward, evolution and a reaction to external stimuli allows life to change naturally. The argument also indulges in an infinite regression. It assumes that a transcendent god created the entire universe. However, it fails to account for what created the god. As stated in the lecture slides, a committee of lesser beings may have created the god, but that begs the question about who created the committee. One could object to this idea and believe that god has always existed, transcending time and reality itself. Once again, however, this logic is just as applicable to the universe. The universe is as capable of existing forever as a god is. William Paley further begs the question in stating that because of perceived complexities in an entity, it must have been designed. This perceived relation between complexity and design is an inherently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The only thoughts and feelings she displays are her own and the story is set wherever she is. Setting: The story takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1973. The epidemic hits the city in the late summer months and lasts until December. Mattie lives with with her mother and grandfather above a coffeehouse her family owns. There is little medical knowledge at the time which leads to little control over the virus. They are many africans living free in Philadelphia at the time also. There are also many mentions of the Free African Society. The setting and plot are rather historically accurate and reflect the events of the time period. For example, a yellow fever strain hit Philadelphia in the year 1793 in August. As well as date accuracy, many of the people mentioned were alive at the time. This includes people like, Benjamin Rush, Jean Pierre Blanchard and George Washington. References to the Free African Society are correct too. The FAS was founded in Philadelphia and actually did help victims of the yellow fever. The last historical accuracy was the hospital at Bush Hill. Main Character: Matilda Cook is an adventurous and independence seeking 14 year old girl. There are about 4 10 cases per 100,000 throughout the world, which makes it one of the most prevalent genetic neuro generative disorders. Huntington s disease is a dominant gene mutation that occurs in the huntingtin gene. The result is an excessive repeat of the nucleotide triad cytosine adenine guanine (CAG) and causes damage to neurons. The striatum of the brainand the cerebral cortex are most affected by the gene but other parts of the brain atrophy as well. Typically, onset begins around the 4th decade of life although an early onset form can occur before the age of 20.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... compared the metabolic profiles of pre manifest, manifest HD and control groups. The results showed that amylin and ghrelin levels were significantly increased in all HD subjects compared to the control group. The increase in ghrelin, an appetite stimulant, and amylin, an appetite suppressant, demonstrates the numerous abnormalities regarding regulation of food ingestion and absorption (Wang et al., 2014). Another abnormality observed was a significant decrease in glucagon in the manifest HD group compared to the control group. Glucagon plays a major role in upholding normal metabolism in the body. It also acts as a protective agent by reducing the neurotoxic glutamate. Therefore, a decrease in glucagon can play a significant part in the pathogenesis of Huntington s disease (Wang et al., 2014). Adiponectin is a hormone that is released from adipose tissue and is negatively correlated with Body Mass Index. In HD subjects, this correlation was not significant. Decreased adiponectin levels is usually linked with obesity and insulin resistance. These changes suggest that irregular adipocyte function is associated with the metabolic changes in the pathophysiology of Huntington s disease. Prolactin and total cholesterol levels were also decreased in all HD subjects and showed erratic levels of leptin. This is likely due to impaired food digestion and absorption, which is also supported by the increased amylin levels. Essentially, the study s findings show that HD patients have a decreased ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis and abnormal hormone levels (Wang et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Effect Of Strain Gauge Rosette Used For Multi Channel... Abstract While calculating the results from the collected data, the thin plate shows non linear behaviour such that stress does not vary linearly with strain. In theory when pressure is concentrated at the centre of a circular plate, stress value decreases with respect to increasing radial distance from the centre. However in this case, we see that there are two principal stresses and they behave differently than one another. This experiment will introduce us to a new strain gauge called strain gauge rosette used for multi channel strain measurement and other equations to calculate principal stresses and strains in a two dimensional state. Introduction For a thin circular plate, stress and strain usually occur in a two dimensional state. As it is difficult to measure stress, strains are instead measured in real life practices and its corresponding stress values are calculated. The most popular measuring tool for strain is the strain gauge. Since strain is the measure of change in displacement over the original dimension of a structure, the measuring tool must be sensitive enough to detect that small change in displacement. Thus, we can learn how to handle sensitive measuring equipment and ways to ensure that the data collected is as accurate as possible and also to omit any errors that will affect the final calculation. Besides that, we can broaden our knowledge on multi channel strain measurements because in reality two dimensional strains are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Political Parties During The 20th Century The political parties today have undisputed role in the democratic process. Gaining importance throughout the 20th century, they proved to be an instrumental mobilizing device, aiming to involve the majority of the population in the political process for the first time in history. Moisei Ostrogorski was a pioneer in the field with his works comparing the political parties in the US and Britain. In his works he argued that parties are becoming inseparable part of the democratic process within the state whenever this life of parties is developed, it focuses the political feelings and the active will of its citizens (Ostrogorski in Hauge and Harrop:2010). Ostrogorski`s stance on the increasing importance of parties in a democratic state politicsproved to be justified in the countries of Western Europe, where the democratic tradition is strong, mass political parties competed for the votes of ever increasing electorate. Parties proved to be important even in non democratic societies in fascist and socialist states single parties dominated the state, even in certain cases coalesced with it. The 20th centuryproved to be very important in the party development process. They discarded the image of engagement mainly in capturing the leavers of power and even ruling against the public will and interest. Since then parties have been accepted as a necessary instrument that shapes the collective interest, whose role is explicitly noted in the state constitutions. The topic of ... With my understanding, spiritual fears as said in the text, is that which is supernatural, far beyond the constraints of a human body, either it is beyond ... or without the body (Lovecraft, 232). These are fears which are not tangible, or that can be visibly seen, rather are uncertainties which the individuals body is attempting to cope with against their internal problems. Moreover, physical fears are quite straightforward, as what the name states, these are simple worries which are developed through materialism, and lack of ignorance, as often times individuals are terrified of certain items, such as people, without truly being able to understand and know them. These things that create uneasiness in society are visible, and commonly dreaded by a group of people rather than spiritual fears, which tend to be more based on one on one (fearvs one person). With that said, let us now understand the similarities and differences between these two factors. New answers to the world s questions came from scientific developments, women, literature, and art. Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud were revolutionary scientists in the 20th century. Einstein, a German physicist, proposed the idea that space and time are in fact not constant (though the speed of light is). He came up with his theory of relativity that created uncertainty and replaced Isaac Newton s belief that the world was governed by absolute laws of motion and gravity. Sigmund Freud, an Austrian physician, developed a theory about the human mind based on his experience with patients with psychological problems. Freud believed that the mind has an irrational component, which he called the unconscious, that has a number of drives of which the conscious mind is unaware. • 48. Byronic Hero In Frankenstein Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a critique of the Byronic hero, as exemplified in Lord Byron s Manfred. The Byronic hero is a protagonist who has the following traits: self inflicted agony, a high self esteem, isolation from society, an exaggerated sense of independence, and genuine guilt. All of these traits Manfred bears, but Victor lacks two of these attributes. The lead protagonists, Victor and Manfred, have two key differences: genuine remorse and independence. Victor s guilt is false when compared with that of Manfred. Victor relinquishes some of his autonomy to the monster in Frankenstein, in contrast to Manfred s steadfast hold of complete self government. These differences, seen in Victor s personality amount to a critique of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, a Byronic hero has genuine guilt. This requires more action than contemplating, and continuously reiterating that a tragedy by his hand occurred. Manfred possesses all of these traits; however, Victor lacks true remorse and retention of his independence. Manfred s guilt can be perceived as genuine because of three actions he takes in the play. He verbally takes responsibility for being the cause, he seeks a solution, and he asks Astarte, the one he s wronged, for forgiveness directly. My wrongs were all on those I should ve cherished But my embrace was fatal (II, 87 88). In this line, Manfred voices responsibility for the actions that took place to the Chamois Hunter, confirming his feelings. In the play, Manfred seeks out three sources in the hopes of alleviating his suffering: the seven spirits, the Witch and Arimanes, to whom Manfred requests the summoning of deceased Astarte (II, 79 80). His plea for forgiveness comes during his time with Astarte s spirit. Yet one word more am I forgiven? (III, 152). The act of asking for forgiveness is the purest way to express true remorse and regret to those who have been wronged, and this differentiates Manfred from Victor the most. His seeking forgiveness also validates Manfred s love for Astarte is a concept that Victor may not be able to grasp. Victor expresses the misery he feels regarding his actions in relation to the monster with zeal, but his remorse proves to be false when viewed with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The parents are promised that their children will have a well paid job or a nice marriage (4).
