Introduction:
DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service)
is a type of malicious cyber-attacks
that hackers use in order to make an
online service, network resource or
host machine unavailable to its
intended users on the Internet.
Objectives:
o Generating a group which will be
unknown.
o Disrupt the intended server operations
o Not getting detected
Types:
• Application Layer Attack
Target weak points of application, close access
of users.
• Protocol Attack
More packets than limit and consume the capacity
• Traffic Attack:
Traffic more than limit
Tools & Technologies Used:
o OS: Kali Linux
o URL: GitHub
o Social engineering
toolkit (SET)
Four Stages of a DDoS Attack
• Lock the Target/Identify:
Lockdown the target computing
device on the network.
Infect target host with malicious
software for vulnerability.
• Insertion:
• Installation:
Install malicious program on target
host and execute network.
• Attack:
Attack on the compromised
host
Methodology:
o The victim
o Prepare the environment
o Prepare the campaign
o Launch the campaign
Scope:
The current DDoS Attack techniques
cover some attack vectors like
websites and servers.
Significance:
o Informing the laypersons
o Learning attack vectors
o Awareness
