  • 2.  S.A.I Lunpei’s grand opening ceremony by Vice president U Haniri Van Htee Yu on February 4, 2017.  Signed M.O.U with MIID in May 2017  Established a research station in the campus  Student Internship opportunities every semester break  Technical Assistance in Upland Agriculture & Farming Systems, Nutrition- Sensitive Agriculture Curriculum Development Background of S.A.I
  • 4.  Challenges  Teacher’s technical knowledge on upland agriculture and farming system is limited  Upland crops specialization  Language barrier (both students and teachers)  Water scarcity (crop production and utilization by students, teachers, staff)  Soil and water management  Modern growing practices Current LONPEI- SAI Curriculum
  • 5. Collaboration with MIID I. Raining Crops ( water cress/morning glory, reddish, roselle, cowpeas II. Winter Crops (broccoli, cabbage, kale, mustard, carrot, cauliflower) III. Students collect research data IV. Completed three groups of Student Internship, learning hands-on upland agriculture, home gardening, nutrition-sensitive agriculture
  • 9.  Students sharing their internship experience on crops management with other students on the campus during their field works  Farmer Field school arrangement by MIID project  Assisting in curriculum development for our S A I  Students learned about upland agriculture development and sloping agricultural land technology (SALT) Sustainable environmental management
  • 10. Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture Training Workshop at MIID (November 6-13, 2017) Intern Students from Lunpei State Agricultural Institute
  • 11. Students meeting with and engaging farmers at Farmer Field Schools, learning home gardening, raising fish and chicken in villages
  • 12. Nutrition Education through Cooking Demo with farmers and community members at village Farmer Field Schools
  • 13. Students meeting with Chair and Speaker of Chin State Parliament at Zion Baptist Church, Hakha
  • 14. Students preparing healthy and nutritious food and enjoying their lunch on SUNDAY!
