This document analyzes upland agriculture and farming systems in Hakha Township, Chin State, Myanmar. It finds that the main crops grown are rice, maize, potatoes, onions, ginger, and vegetables. Farming systems vary depending on land type (lowlands, alluvial lands, uplands, hilly lands) and crops grown. Major challenges include lack of improved seeds, pest damage to crops, and water shortages in some seasons. Migration of young people is putting pressure on existing farming systems as the workforce ages. Overall, farmers are adapting by changing crops and reducing shifting cultivation.
