5. Result
• Produce diversified nutritious foods
• Generate income from the sales of vegetables, fruits, potato, milk and milk
products
• Purchase other food items
• New improved varieties of pulses, vegetables and fruits
• Pilot works on livestock feed improvements
• Changed attitude towards production and consumption of high value crops
• Improved KAP of food preparation
• Knowledge gap in nutrition
• Diet diversity is very low
• Diversity and availability of food groups slightly vary all district
• Dark green leafy vegetables, Other V-A rich vegetables and fruits are low in
diversity and availability across all districts
6. Lessons Learned
Technical support and training on nutrition to the government staff at woreda
and kebele level should be followed by frequent follow up
Husbands, grandmothers, elders and religious leaders have a key role in
influencing mothers, thus they should be included during awareness creation
Nutrition-education intervention are still needed by the experts and
community members
Conducting the seasonal food availability assessment as many as possible
