PERSONAL GOAL
To develop, manage and deliver an interactive training model that slices across all levels and
disciplines of the organization, to build links across the organization, in addition to the development
of skills encompassing the principles of lifelong learning.
PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
I enjoy managing all of the variables, aligning and realigning them until I am sure I have arranged them
in the most productive configuration possible. I enjoy developing successful strategies for getting
things done. Challenging myself to find ways to make even the most successful systems and
arrangements better.
I constantly strive to learn and improve. The process of learning is as important to me as the
knowledge I gain. I am energized by the steady and deliberate journey from ignorance to competence.
I am excited by the thrill of learning new facts, beginning a new subject, and mastering an important
skill. Learning builds my confidence. Learning is a passion of mine. My own learning, but also helping
others to learn and to develop into the best they can be. I believe in transformation and that the most
effective way to achieve this is by upskilling the people in South Africa, especially with scarce skills.
Whilst others might be intimidated by new rules, new skills, or new circumstances, my willingness to
soak up this “newness” can calm their fears and spur them to engage. I take this responsibility very
serious.
COMPETENCE
Human Resources
My understanding of human resources strategy, principles and functions was gained from experience,
working closely with the previous Training Manager, but also through my studies. I understand how
training and development supports the workplace, how training fits into the performance
management system and the impact training has on performance measurements. My tenure, as part
of the company’s Employment Equity committee, broadened my knowledge on ABB’s human
resources strategies. From the business perspective, I’m well entrenched in the ABB Global training
view, working closely with the Global teams of all the ABB Universities and the Steerco. I am also
serving on the Local Drives Training Steerco, reporting directly to the Global Steerco. I have a solid
knowledge of the workings and requirements of the SETAs, NQF and SAQA and is currently working
on a project with my direct manager and ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) to have our
product courses accredited towards continuous professional development points (CPD)
Industry
My industry knowledge consists of understanding adult learning theory and techniques, employee
development trends, technology-based training methods and best practices for encouraging
employee participation in the development process. I have also gained a lot of Industry knowledge,
pertaining to the ABB business, through working in different areas in ABB over a period spanning eight
years. I have a solid product knowledge and work closely with the Service Managers across all four
divisions.
2
I have a solid knowledge of marketing strategies and management and is working closely with our
Marketing department, using SalesForce to create campaigns and access markets, to effectively
promote and sell new and existing training products.
Leadership
I gained experience in this through my studies, but also by managing multi-cultural teams during
previous positions held in different companies. I attended the highly recognized Leadership
Development Skills program that ABB offered, further honing my leadership and communication skills.
Functional Expertise
My verbal communication skills are at the foundation of my functional expertise for training and
development. My ability to facilitate focus group discussions, conduct classroom learning sessions,
seminars and workshops are skills that I have acquired through not only my studies but also many
years of doing Toastmasters and ATKV public speaking. My public speaking capabilities is an essential
component of a training and development manager’s skills. I am still actively involved with public
speaking by giving informal public speaking training to scholars in primary school and have been used
at various occasions to judge at such events.
SKILLS
- Active learner
- Manager in multi-cultural teams
- Excellent administration skills
- Public Speaker
- Harmonizer

the whole process was shortened to 3 days, instead of the usual two weeks.
During my tenure as Accounting Centre Analyst: Foreign, the DHL Global and DHL Express accounts
were my responsibility. When I took over, many of the invoices were overdue. The account was
arrears, in excess of ZAR500 000.00 and the recon was 36 pages long. After being appointed, Head of
