Case Study Frederick Historical Society
Question #4:
When constructing an exhibit, the museum staff must ask themselves: What demographic are we
designing this exhibit for. Correspondingly, the museum staff ponders what is the line of sight for
the targeted demographic, so they know where to place the artifacts and how the exhibit should be
structured. Similarly, the museum staff must predict how the public will respond to their exhibit and
the necessary precautions to avoid negative reviews. Most importantly, the museum staff must
question if the exhibit can offend a certain demographic and the steps they will need to take to
properly represent that society. When creating an exhibit, the museum staff must contemplate how
the structure and content will relate to the audience and what is the best approach to have
interaction between the exhibit and its attended audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

allows our collection to maintain somewhat controllable. Correspondingly, if we have an

War on Drugs Research Essay
Drug use and abuse is an expensive problem in the United States, both financially and socially. The
War on Drugs has been an ongoing effort to combat drug abuse, drug use and crime associated with
the drug trade. It s a war without a clear enemy. Anything waged against a shapeless, intangible
noun can never truly be won President Clinton s drugczar Gen. Barry McCaffrey said as much in
1996. (TIME 2009) Despite the trillions of dollars waged on the war on drugs and the countless
arrest made related to drugs, it appears that we are fighting a losing battle. The drug battle is not a
new concept it s a battle that has been around since President Eisenhower coined the phrase War on

In most high crime areas in big cities, law enforcement and judicial systems spend a majority of
their day combating drug related crimes, whether staking out a dealer on the corner or
convicting a dealer for possession, too many of our tax dollars are wasted combating drug
crimes. Over half of the prison inmates incarcerated between 2009 10 are there due to drug
related offenses, costing an average of 6.2 billion dollars annually. And more than half of those
were non violent offenses (sales, possessions, and attempt to distribute). As noted in the textbook,
Drugs and Society, Chapter 3; proponents contend that if drugs were legalized, violence and
crime would become less. Many crimes such as robbery, assault and murder are often linked to
drugs. Perpetrators, rob, steal and kill for the purpose of buying drugs. However, if drugs were
legal any and all profits made via the sale of a drug would directly benefit the economy and
stimulate growth for health reform, funding new medical research and abuse prevention programs.
The legalization of drugs would require full governmental control of controlled substances. Just as
with alcohol and tobacco government would control age limits, designated amounts and warnings.
Critics of legalization believe that by legalizing drugs the government sends a negative message to
youths that drug use

Maturation In Huck Finn
Christian Adams

November 10, 2014, 2014
Moral Maturation
Famous author, Mark Twain wrote a book called Huck Finn. This book is discussing the
adventures of a young boy (Huck Finn) and a runaway slave during 19th century. Throughout
the story the audience can begin to see the moral maturation of Huck Finn. From not having any
one too really to trust to him maturing to the point of actually seeing what was right and wrong.
During 19th century society seem that citified was the right choice. Huck Finn has trouble
trying to follow this unwritten law. The Widow Douglas, she took me for her son, and allowed
she would civilize me, but it was rough living in the house all the time, considering how dismal
regular and decent the widow was in all her way; and so when I should stand it no longer, I lit
out. (Twain pg.2). In this statement we begin to see that Huck Finn has a hard time trying to fit in
to society. Following the widows religious ways, or try and act all proper. In this case Huck Finn
has trouble trying to fit into society. Mark Twainwanted the audience to realize that sometimes
fitting into to society doesn t necessarily make it a good choice. ... Show more content on

Hourglass Vs Invisibility Cloak Research Paper
The invisibility cloak and the hourglass are both very magical and powerful objects. Both
options have very much to offer to the lucky receiver. Although, when it comes to true events,
the invisibility cloak is the better option. The invisibility cloak is the better choice out of the
two options. This is because it can protect the lives of innocent people and animals when used
for good. One day, if a government based spy needed to spy on alleged terrorists, the spy would
be able to watch and listen the terrorists silently. If this occurs and the spy found out information,
the spy would be able to notify the government immediately and stop the issue before it happens.
This could not only save the lives of a few targeted people, but it... Show more content on

Since it is an invisibility cloak, it will make the receiver completely invisible with no shadow or
body parts showing. This can be used to hide from someone trying to hurt or kill the receiver. It
even can be used to win a game of hide and go seek if needed. The invisibility cloak once proves
itself again by protecting the lives of human beings and winning childhood games. On the other
hand, the hourglass is also an option. The hourglass allows the user to have an extra hour of
time each day. This gift could give more times for activities, homework, and fun. It could also
give more time for sleep or rest, especially during a busy 8th grade year. The hourglass is a very
resourceful option out of the two choices. However, the hourglass does not make enough sense
for the option to work. It says that the hourglass will give the user an extra hour of time each day,
but since there are twenty four hours a day only, the hour does not fit in. The user of the hourglass
would then have twenty five hours a day unlike the rest of the world, therefore messing up time for
themselves and potentially the time balance of all humans. In order for time itself not to be messed

How Does Cisco s It Web Enablement Initiatives Reinforce...
4.CEO John Chambers believed that by providing the end to end network plumbing, we can change
the way entire companies and industries operate. How did Cisco s IT web enablement initiatives
reinforce and demonstrate that belief? Explain your answer with examples.
$100 million web enablement initiatives have been executed by Cisco in early 1990s. Cisco
strategy was to use all standard equipment, tools, and smart group of people to apply the web
enablement. Most of the interactions were network based and begin at home page of cisco which
allowed the employees to communicate with customers, partners, and suppliers more efficiently
and effectively. Applications of intranet and internet were created as a part of these initiatives. Most
efficient applications will be illustrated in the following lines.
Customer self service: Cisco always treat their customers as the cornerstone of their business.
Cisco website was the centerpiece of this strategy as cisco.com was an credible, encyclopedic ,
web based resource for the information and applications. cisco.com has been the customer s
destination to get answers for their questions, to find assistance to network problems, and to
receive responsive, 24/7 customer service. In addition, in order to go globally, Cisco translated its
website to 17 different languages for its international customers in nearly 68 countries. A statistical

The Chimney Sweeper By William Walker Analysis
In Songs of Innocence and of Experience, the two poems The Chimney Sweeper highlight the
injustice during Blake s time such as: poverty, child labour, and abuse. The Chimney Sweeper
illustrates William Blake s understanding of innocence and experience by exposing the hypocritical
nature of authority during the 1700s. This essay will begin with explaining Blake s concept of
innocence and experience .
Firstly, William Blakeperceives innocence and experience as contrasting states of the soul. As a
result, the narrators are examples of his understanding through their accounts of their life. In The
Chimney Sweeper (1789), William Blake wrote:
And so Tom awoke and we rose in the dark
And got with our bags brushes to work
Tho the morning was cold, Tom was happy Warm,
So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm. (Blake, Lines 21 24).
The boy and Tom Dacre are innocent through their optimism in their hopes despite their harsh
reality. The essence of Blake s understanding of innocence is the ability to be joyful and
celebratory with hope. In contrast, the narrator in The Chimney Sweeper (1794) knows that there
is no hero or escape from the life of a Chimney Sweep. Essentially showing experience as the
acceptance of the present reality as the only reality.
On top of that, William Blake s concepts of experience can be further explained through the
imagery used by the narrator in The Chimney Sweeper (1794). In The Chimney Sweeper (1794),
William Blake writes:
And because i am happy, dance sing,
They think they have done me no injury:
And are gone to praise God his Priest King
Who make up a heaven of our misery. ( Lines 9 12).
The boy shows a full understanding of the hopelessness in his situation without interruption from
dreams or thoughts of being saved. He thoroughly explains the misuse of power in authority in his
situation. However, Tom Dacre vividly describes his friend s dream in two stanzas. The children in
The Chimney Sweeper (1789) do not fully comprehend the harsh reality of chimney sweeps and
instead clings to the ideas of hope.
William Blake illustrates his concepts through highlighting the hypocrisy during the 1700s. The life
of a chimney sweeper was

Effects Of Emancipation Laws
Emancipation is a legal procedure where a minor can become freed from their legal guardian under
circumstances. The minor becomes responsible for themselves financially and otherwise and can
no longer depend on anyone else. A minor can become emancipated one of two ways; through a
court order or without legal declaration but with guardians permission. Emancipation laws can
differ depending on the state. Diamond v. Diamond demonstrates the court process in which a
minor took to become emancipated from her mother due to domestic violence and substance abuse
issues; this case presented the Supreme Court an issue of first impression (Diamond v. Diamond,

Diamond taking place in the state of New Mexico. Jhette Diamond had miraculously been living
without any support from her own mother since the age of thirteen. Jhette got her first job at the
age of eleven at a restaurant as a server and busser while keeping a high grade point average
throughout high school (being a sophomore at the time of emancipation). Counsel described her
as thriving and focused on her future. Jhette initially moved out of her mother s home due to
domestic violence and substance abuse. Jhette claims that such actions had been triggered by the
man her mother had maintained a relationship with. Since the court found that Jhette had been
living independently and managing her own financial affairs an order of emancipation was
ruled. It was known to be a classic case of emancipation. Jhette asked the court if the order of
emancipation could be styled to reserve her right to receive financial support from her mother
since she had not been at all financially supported before nor after she had left home. The court
agreed as counsel provided that the Act (New Mexico Emancipation of Minors Act) authorized the
court to do so for the one or more purposes brought forth. The mother had then come in
recognition of the order of emancipation and files a pro se motion to set aside the declaration
because she had received no notice of the proceedings that took and

The Effects Of Video Advertisements On Society Essay
Introduction
Video advertisements are quick and momentary but their influence is pervasive and prolonged. The
power of video advertisements shape norms and common societal expectations on how a person
should look and behave. Overtime these gender roles (societal expectations associated with men
and women) and behaviors become implicit thus implying normal (or in some instances ideal) men
and women should exhibit these qualities and characteristics. Subconsciously, video advertisements
impact a person s perception of what it means and what it takes to be a man or woman. The
objective of this paper is to observe secondary socialization, ...learning behaviors and attitudes
associated with specific situations and roles... , in YouTube video advertisements by comparing
recurring patterns, symbols, statuses, and roles directed to men and women (Lecture Notes Nalkur
7). In addition, this paper seeks to explain how YouTube video advertisements act as socializing
agents by portraying arguably exaggerated yet stereotypical traits of men and women that influence
watchers perceptions and beliefs about their own gender identity and that of others.
Methods
The approach of this study was to obtain a total of eight YouTube video advertisements. Four of
which focus on women/women s products and the other four video advertisements focus on men
/men s products. The YouTube video advertisements were obtained randomly by watching the
YouTube channels I normally visit. All video ads were obtained

Summary Of Where The Red Fern Grows
Two dogs, and one of the happiest little boys I have ever read about, Billy couldn t be sad for
more than ten minutes. And this is what brings me to believe that Wilson Rawls explores the idea
in Where the Red Fern Grows that hard work could bring you to a much happier and satisfying life.
For the first example, it is when Billy worked for his two dogs. Billy worked for two years to get
Little Ann and Old Dan. When he first started, it was difficult. He most likely thought he wouldn t
be able to do it. But when he did, he was shocked, but also happy. And when he got those dogs, he
cried. And he even said himself that he was the most elated boy in the world.
My second example is when he caught his first raccoon with Old Dan and Little Ann. It was the
beginning of the hunting season. And his mom let him go hunting. When he took the dogs out,
they found the smell of a raccoon. At first, it was hard to catch the raccoon, because Little Ann
and Old Dan wouldn t go across a river. But he kept pushing and saying they could do it. They
finally did, and when him and his dad were skinning the raccoon, Billy couldn t have been more

Case Study Sterling
This experience was definitely not what I expected it to be; Sterling is a small town and it
always seems like there is nothing to do. However, not I see that it is looking to expand and

how many crucial issues the Council deals with on a daily basis (i.e. the marijuana bill).
Although Sterling may be a smaller town, but a lot of government and other proceedings go on

The first is the level of government responsible. We had a discussion over this early in the course
and I got the full understanding after attending these meetings. For example, the marijuana
selling bill came up at the first meeting I attended. It is legal in the state of Colorado to sell
marijuana; however, if you local county/city/etc. does not permit it, you are not allowed to.
This is the case in Sterling, but it may soon change. The second concept I witnessed when
attending these meeting was voter, or public, participation. As I stated before, not many people
attended the first meeting. Maybe two rows of chair were filled total. If more people were
involved with their local governments, more actions could be completed and things could be
done quicker. I am going to encourage more people I know to attend these meetings, not only for
the publics sake but also for their own knowledge and awareness. Finally, I witnessed many tax
and other budget issues being handled and contemplated at the meetings. For example, the City
Manager Saling talked about the sales tax is still on a steady incline that is likely to continue. He
encouraged the public to be aware and watch this so they can adjust their personal budgets. In
addition, the budget issue appeared again with the marijuana bill. The Council

Darwin s Objection To Natural Selection
There have been many theories that explain how evolution occurred. Charles Darwin, on the book
Origin of Species, wrote about how traits are passed on from generations to generations by natural
selection. In addition, Charles Darwin stated how there are four objections to the theory of natural
selection, how species can win the struggle for existence through natural selection, and how the
origin of species challenges religion.
Central to the theory of evolution, is natural selection. Evolutionary theory was developed by
Charles Darwin to explain the ways in which animals adapt to their environments (Akert, Aronson,
Sommers, and Wilson 43). Natural selection, is the process by which heritable traits that promote
survival in particular environments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genesis 1:27 states that, God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created
him; male and female He created them (Coogan 13). This is significant because it is clearly
stated in the Bible that humanity is located within the created order of God. However, Darwin s
theory challenges the interpretation of the Bible, and the origins of human being (McGrath 372).
Darwin s theory of natural selection simply states that humanity has emerged within the natural
order (McGrath 372). There have been many Christian responses to Darwinism, one in specific
named young earth creationism (McGrath 372). This represents the idea that the Earth was
created in its basic form between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago (McGrath 372). Young earth
creationists believe that all living things were created simultaneously, within the timeframe
proposed by the Genesis accounts (McGrath 372). They in addition believe in the flood of Noah
which describes a global event that destroyed all life on earth expect for those brought on board on
the ark (McGrath 372). Assuming that the flood of Noah did occur, creationists hold to
perspectives that the fossils are the result of the flood (McGrath

Characters In Alice Munro s Differently
In Alice Munro s short story Differently, the main character Georgia recounts memories of Maya
and their fallout when she visits her friend s widowed husband many years later. Upon her visit, her
mind is flooded with memories of friendship, infidelity, and broken trust which inevitably
disconnected her from Maya and Ben (Georgia s husband). Throughout the text, the author
highlights the main character s inability to filter through many details as she describes the end of
various relationships following Maya s betrayal. The author s thorough description of settings,
characters, and events emphasizes Georgia s difficulty in focusing on what details of her life are
important, as most of them seem important to her.
The opening words of Alice Munro s Differently introduce the style the author uses throughout the
short story: Georgia once took a creative writing course, and what the instructor told her was: Too
many things. Too many things going on at the same time; also too many people [...] What do you
want us to pay attention to? Think (Munro 1). These lines echo in the mind of the reader as they
dive further into the text, reading about too many things and meeting too many people.
Munro introduces Georgia, Raymond, Maya, Ben, Harvey, Anne, Hilda and her former creative
writing instructor all within the first few pages. The role of each character (aside from the creative
writing instructor) is clouded with the details of their physical appearance or small mannerisms.

Parkinson s Disease
Parkinson s disease is a disease with a wide variety of disabilities recognizable as changes in
appearance, posture, walking, and balance. In 1817, the English physician James Parkinson
described these symptoms in his patients and has had his name become synonymous with the
disease. In 1893 the substantia nigra of the basal ganglia was identified as an area of disease for

Consequently, both the basal ganglia and the cerebellum are influenced by and return influence to
the descending motor pathways (pyramidal and extrapyramidal), which affect the activity of the

The substantia nigra is a subcortical nucleus that is closely related to basal ganglia. It is reciprocally
connected with the striatum and sends efferents to the ventral anterior and dorsomedial thalamic
nuclei and, to some extent, to the ventral lateral thalamic nuclei. The substantia nigra pars reticulata
also projects to the superior colliculus. Neurons that originate in the striatum and project to the
substantia nigra are inhibitory and utilize the neurotransmitters GABA and substance P. Fibers that
arise in the pars compacta of the substantia nigra use the neurotransmitter dopamine and synapse in
the striatum, while GABAminergic cells in the pars reticulata receive striatal input and project to
the thalamus.
Recordings from neurons in the basal ganglia of monkeys during various motor tasks reveal that the
discharge of single cells in the neostriatum show a direct correlation with movements of the
contralateral arm or leg, and that the discharge of substantial percentage of neurons precedes the
onset of a movement. These studies suggest that the basal ganglia participate in movements at a
high level, including the planning of movement synergy s. Lesions of the basal ganglia resulting

Traveling Trade
Transportation
Early in the medieval times traders had transported all of their goods and trading assets by
animal driven carts rather than machine powered carts and wagons. With the invention of stirrups
and saddles, it had majorly improved horseback riding for longer trips, but with many people
being poor at this time, the equipment for horseback was very expensive, so it was pretty rare to
see people traveling long distances on horseback. On the other hand, people with more and heavier
goods usually had oxen pull the cart forward but at the expense of going much slower. With wagons
and carts, they were not meant for people to sit in them, but the owners of the wagons/carts knew

The league contained a non governing system, non political system, no official army or navy,
but had no bank system or judicial system. Meetings were usually held in Ludeck where usually
small groups of larger towns that usually made the policies of the league. To enter the league, you
must have been a German town, be independent, and had an on time payer of all yearly dues.
However, some cities were exceptions like Stockholm and Dinant (in Flanders) had full rights. The
league possessed local depots such as Oslo and Tonsberg in Norway, Alborg in Denmark
, cities in
England that include York, Boston, Lynn, and Norwich. (brittanica.com/topic/Hanseatic League)
Decline
The decline of the Hanseatic League involved the breaking of the German monopoly, most
definitely in the Baltic Sea, and the level of intrest between towns. Loss of political development
surrounding the Baltic had lowered the intrest of Hanseatic consumers after Valdemar IV was
defeated. Most Hanseatic countries had broken off like Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Poland,
and Lithuania. With the English and Dutch traders gaining experience from the Germans, they did
not need them anymore. In 1669, the Hanseatic League had ended.

The Security For The Networked Environment
The overall security for the networked environment is weak, and the team was able to move quickly
through the information system and gain system level access on most of the attached hosts, within
the scope of the penetration test. Had the organization been equipped with a firewall, the ability to
conduct the following test would have become a more difficult task. However, because packets can
move freely, the systems provide more data than they should. Secondly the team identified the
requirement to segment the network. In its current configuration, Appendix B, the organization is
easily exploitable. Coupled with a firewall, a segmented Local Area Network, and firewall to filter
the local area traffic, the organization becomes a more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

same exploits found on .60, the team managed to exploit .40. No different than the previous
system, the team managed to achieve system level access utilizing the getsystem command. On its
second exploit, the team again used the MS03_026 exploit, and again the system was

management will reduce the issues found with these two systems. Unpatched systems remain open
potentially allowing attackers to exploit unnecessarily. Regarding the FTP service, the service is

New school, new people, and new clothes. Everything is going to be different, I was not looking

should I expect, i went and set my stuff down in my home room. When i walked back in all eyes
were on me, again. I didn t like it so I quickly sat down. After we left assembly we had math, i did

Some people could simply sit and just think. Some use their mobiles to communicate to the outside

Analysis Of Dan Brown s The Da Vinci Code
Toward the start of your studies, you will most likely have many general inquiries, for example,
o How did Europe come to overwhelm such an extensive amount advanced history?
o Was North America bound to end up a super power?
o Does the past have any bearing on the world today?
o Does history have any bearing on a distinct individual s life?
Many individuals appreciate steering into history and authentic inquiries by perusing recorded
fiction. Dan Brown s The Da Vinci Code is a mainstream decision and can lead individuals to
further study Renaissance workmanship, culture, and history.
History of War
Many individuals start concentrating on history by taking a gander at the historical backdrop of
fighting. Military History and Maritime History can captivate subjects. You can concentrate on the
wars themselves or the political figures who arranged the occasions.
Finest Years: Churchill as Warlord 1940 45 by Sir Max Hastings is a nitty gritty picture of Winston
Churchill. It is an interesting prologue to England amid the cutting edge wars. Finding out about
the war time frames can irritate. You may have many inquiries concerning the very way of war.
A few inquiries may be:
o Does war characterize mankind s history?
o Should you characterize recorded eras by the wars that were battled?
o If history is composed by the victors, would we be able to ever have a genuinely precise record
of a war?
o Can lessons from history help us avert future mobilized

While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while
there is a soul in prison, I am not free, proclaimed Eugene Debs upon being convicted of violating
the Sedition Act (Metz). As he asserted, Debs was the cornerstone of minorities in America.
Eugene Debs was the icon of the exploited workers, oppressed socialists, and drafted soldiers. He
sought to make America the Utopia. Eugene V. Debs
significantly altered America by pioneering the
labor activism through unions, inspiring other activists with successful strikes, halting growing

The extremely violent nature of the Pullman Strike led by ARU caused the public to protest strikes,
especially against the newcomers who were working in the railway industries (Winston). After the
successful Great Northern Railway strike, the ARU participate in the Pullman Strike, demanding
the rollback of the recently reduced wages (Winston). During the Pullman Strike, the mobs burned
and looted railroad cars (Winston). The strikers were mostly composed of foreign workers since
railway industries provided harsh working conditions, so only new immigrants accepted the jobs
(Winston). Furthermore, the Pullman Palace Car Company hired primarily black strikebreakers,
attempting to initiate racism of the strikers (Winston). Most notably, local presses associated the
strikers as anarchists and communists who came from foreign countries, while highlighting the
racist behaviors of the strikers (Winston). Consequently, American citizens started to associate labor
movements as the actions of foreign communists and anarchists to overthrow their country

cause of the Red Scare (Winston). The public believed that the violent actions were attempts of
Communists to overthrow America to establish a communist state (Winston). Since Eugene Debs

Ecuador Research Paper
Ecuador is a small country on the Pacific coast of South America. It is bisected laterally by the
equator, and longitudinally by the Andes. The Andes divide the country s mainland into three
distinct regions, the coast to the west, the mountains, and the rainforest to the east. It is the Andes
that this paper is focused on, giving special attention to the mountain Cotopaxi.
The Andes run along the western side of South America, starting in Venezuela and continuing
through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina, all the way to the southern tip of Chile.

Andes, less than a degree south of the equator. It is almost perfectly conical, rising to a height of
5,897 meters above sea level, and is covered with glaciers from about 4,500 meters up to the
summit. The glaciers cover a total area of 21 km2, as of 2004. At the summit, the crater is about
800 meters across, and extends to a depth of 334 meters (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 162). The
primary rivers it drains water into are the Rio Cutuchi to the south, the Rio Pita to the north, and
the Rio Tamboto to the east (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 163). It is along these rivers than many towns
are located. Along the Rio Cutuchi, the city of Latacunga is a mere 43 km away from the volcano;
while SangolquГ is located to the north, in the Valle de los Chillos, about 40 km downstream
along the Rio Pita from Cotopaxi (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 163). The capital of Ecuador, Quito,
lies only about 50 km away to the northwest (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 162).
The glaciers that give Cotopaxi its stunning appearance are one of the factors that make Cotopaxi
so dangerous. When the volcano has an eruption, the hot material issued from the crater melts
portions of the glaciers on the summit, inevitably triggering lahars. Cotopaxi is known for having
syn eruptive lahars. According to Aguilera et al, (2004),

Long Duration Human Space Flight Missions
Introduction: Long duration human space flight missions are next big thing in space that have

missions, study of closed loop habitats are essential. Thus, it is essential to review development in
this area and discuss various issues related to political, technical, engineering, economic aspects of

Most of the life support systems for isolated environment use physiological process. The use of bio
regenerative process is relatively new. Bio regenerative process currently in use in terrestrial
confined environment include controlled plant growth chamber in Antarctica and biosphere 2.
Plant growth has been tested in ISS but only for scientific study and not as a part of life support
system. For the future manned space mission, hybrid life support systems in which biological
components are used at the same time with physiochemical technology in a balanced mechanism
for controlling life support parameters. Hybrid life support systems are envisioned for sustainable
long term space habitats but there are concerns about the reliability of bio regenerative process
incorporated to the physiochemical systems. The optimal combination of physiochemical and bio
generative life support systems needs tradeoff among different factors. Numerous bio regenerative
technology should be tested and performance should be evaluated to characterize it. A common
study could be about food subsystem and computation of equivalent system mass. NASA have
given top priority to the long duration manned space flight missions. Asteroid retrieval mission and
manned mars mission have become long term set goals. This has motivated systematic examination

Komatsu had history of good labor relation. Statistics shown that from 1976 to 1981 labor
productivity rose compared to Caterpillar. This high productivity labor force was absolutely one of
the assets of Komatsu.
3. Managerial Philosophy/Leadership Style * As early as 1921, Mr. Takeuchi, founder of
Komatsu stated his two management perspectives; overseas orientation and user orientation . * In
1963, when Mitsubishi Cat joint venture entered Japan, Yashinari Kawai planned to make his
company a competitor of world s standard. He set the goals; acquisition of the necessary advanced
technology from abroad and the improvement of product quality within the company. He and his
son Ryoichi Kawai conducted negotiations with USSR and China and developed relations with
high officials. * In mid 1980 s, where Caterpillar was on its unprofitable year, Chairman Ryoichi
Kawai stated that Komatsu s success today doesn t mean success for tomorrow. He believes that a

Predator-Prey Interaction
Abstract Predators are animals that kill for their food; they must do this in order to survive. There
has been controversy about predation in some areas including the re introduction of wolves into
the Yellowstone National park area and other areas. Predator prey relationships are both beneficial
and detrimental to some species. The weakest and unhealthiest become dinner for those predators
and also become a positive thing for the species that only the strongest of the herd will survive and
continue to reproduce. Some types of prey have defense mechanisms which fight off predators.
Survival of the fittest is the best explained phrase for this type of ecological interaction.
Introduction Predator prey relationships are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Predation and prey interactions keep the circle of life going.
Benefits of Predation When a predator makes a kill, it feeds not only them, but other species as
well. For example, if there is an elk kill, this will feed other predators like bear, mountain lion,
coyotes, eagles and others. Smaller rodents and other scavengers, like ravens will also benefit
from a kill. We are predators ourselves we have to kill to eat, just most of us don t do it
ourselves, if we are meat eaters. What we don t eat can go to the dogs and feed them. Bacteria
and other parasites can also join in on the fun. Other things we don t eat, can go to compost, so
there are many ways in which predation benefits the food chain. It definitely feeds various links
on the food web. Predation is also used to control populations of certain problematic species, such
as snails, which pass certain types of diseases to other species including humans, as explained by
Molles. They have used crayfish in some places such as Kenya and other East African countries to
control a problematic snail population. (Molles, 343) This happens here at times also, with
introducing species that will eradicate problem species or invasive species that are taking over
watersheds and other ecosystems.
Predator Body Systems Predators can be birds of prey or carnivores or anything that must kill for
their food. Predation is the interaction between the predator and the prey itself. All

Philanthropic Acts a Compromise for Rights
In an era consisting of big industrialist, such as Andrew Carnegie, there were many differences of

Carnegie expressed his ideas and views in article, The Gospel of Wealth, in which he outlines the

Andrew believed that the upper class should not show extravagant displays of their wealth
simply because they can. He believed that the first thing a wealthy man must do is to meet the
moderate wants and needs of their immediate family and dependents. He also believed that any
left over money should be used for public works to better the community by that person s own
judgment. Andrew states that the poor need to be guided by the rich because without that
guidance the people will live the same poor life for their lifetime. He continues to say that the
poor trust and rely on the rich to administer their lives because they can t successfully do it
themselves. The working people of Andrew wrote a prayer in which it thanks Andrew Carnegie for
his acts of philanthropy in a sarcastic manner.
A Working Man s Prayer can be seen as a response or outburst of the working class to their boss s

The Gold Standard Peter Ferra Summary
The author, Peter Ferrara, opens the article by introducing his topic: the gold standard. He explains
that today s Americans have no true conception of what the gold standard is, blaming this on
modern media and lack of education. The author then begins to shape an argument by discussing
the history of the gold standard in the United Statesthoroughly. He points out the insignificant effect
that tying the U.S. dollar to gold had on inflation, and uses phrases from the Constitution to support
the implementation of the gold standard. Later in the article, Ferrara uses historical statistics
involving the value of the dollar to exemplify the negative effect of abandoning the gold standard
on the United States economy. He continues to support his argument by giving modern examples
of economic failure as a result of the U.S. dollar not being supported by gold.... Show more content

His reasons revolve around the effect that the gold standard would have on the American people
if reinstated. The author claims there would be no inflation on working wages, and investments
in America would increase, since the value of money would not change. Lower tax rates and
increased savings would cause an increase in American capital investment, leading to holistic
growth in the U.S. economy. Ferrara s evidence is even more convincing. In the article, the author
compares the value of gold and the dollar before the abandonment of the gold standard to today s
values, stressing the weakening power of the U.S. dollar. He then demonstrates the difference in
economic growth before and after America released the gold standard, stating When America was
on the gold standard, the real rate of economic growth averaged nearly 4% a year. Since then real
annual growth has stagnated at about 25% less. His evidence is both convincing and useful in

Essay On Dual Language Learners
The amount of young children who are acquiring English as a second or even third language in
the early care and education (ECE) setting as well as K 12 public classrooms have amplified
across the United States in recent years (Espinosa, 2015, p. 40). These young children that are
acquiring two or more languages concurrently, or learning a second languagealong with refining
their native language are considered dual language learners (DLLs) (Espinosa, 2015, p. 40). The
number of DLLs has multiplied tremendously and now accounts for 25% of all children living in
the United States(p. 40). The Office of Head Start (2011) state that fifty nine percent of the children
enrolled in the Head Start Programs were from racial or ethnic minority families, 37% were
Hispanic/Latino and more than 30% were dual language learners (as cited in Espinosa, 2015, p. 40).

It is common in the United States to see DLL preschoolers who attend English dominant ECE

which is when DLLs become more proficient in the English language while their exposure to their
native language takes a back seat. It is imperative that attention must be given to both English
language development along side the native language in order to facilitate the cognitive, social, and
linguistic benefits of early bilingualism, while encouraging learning readiness goals (p. 46).

Hindu Goddesses Research Paper
The influence of the Hindu goddesses of feminism in India is a widely argued topic. On one
hand, the the Hindu goddesses act as powerful role models for Hindu women by setting an example
of how the ideal Hindu women must be. If you look at a lot of the reading we have read so far,
most of the Hindu goddesses such as Devi and Parvati were consorts of malegods. These goddesses
inspire women to diligently serve their husbands while still following their respective dharmas.
These goddesses were also shown as beautiful, charismatic and even graceful. There are also many
different festivals such as Navratri where these femaledeities are worshipped either separately or
collectively as females due to their grace and power. Growing up with the religion,

Washington Irving Essay
Washington Irving
Diedrich Knickerbocker; Geoffrey Crayon; Henry A. Buchanan; Jonathan Oldstyle. All were
famous writers of the nineteenth century. All had one important thing in common they are all one
man Washington Irving. Using these pen names, among many, Irving developed a legacy of
utilizing European culture to cultivate American aspects of literature.
Fred Lewis Pattee asserted, American short story began in 1819 wit Washington Irving. (Gale
Group 4) Irving is best known for his fictional works. These pieces include the popular The Legend
of Sleepy Hollow , Rip Van Winkle , and The Devil and Tom Walker . Each of these works left a
mark on American fictional literature. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow , from The... Show more

A comment made by Irving himself expressed his feelings towards his characters:
I am always at a loss to know how much to believe of my own stories. (From Tales of a Traveler,
1824) (Oldstyle 1)
This comment is used to show the significance of Irving s fictional works to American literature.
He used styles such as manipulation and imagery to captivate the reader. Imagery such as in
Chapter 1 of Rip Van Winkle is enchanting and grabs the reader:
When the weather is fair and settled, they are clothed in blue and purple, and print their bold
outlines on the clear evening sky; but, sometimes, when the rest of the landscape is cloudless,
they will gather a hood of gray vapors about their summits, which, in the last rays of the setting
sun, will glow and light up like a crown of glory. (Knickerbocker 2)
This sentence, alone, shows his technique in which gives to reader a picture of what is taking
place in the piece. This style is typical now and is among many that has been brought or shared
through Washington Irving s fictional works, as well as his European experiences have brought
life to his non fictional pieces. During the seventeen years he spent in Europe (following his
mother s death Sarah Sanders Irving) from 1815 to 1832, Irving not only served many diplomatic
purposes, but many (of course) literal as well. Irving was fascinated by Spain. During his stay
there, he wrote Columbus (1828), Conquest of

The Political System Of Portugal Essay
Portugal is a country that has a political system similar to several countries that have been discussed
in class. The current political system is a semi presidential democracy with an symmetrical
legislature, and it is a unitary government. There are different branches and chambers with different
powers that attempts to keep a balance of powers among the different branches. The current
political system is the result of many revolutions and evolutions the country went through over time.
Around the years 1974 1976, the country went through a transitional period where it moved from an
authoritarian government to a military based rule and then took a leap to a representative democracy
. These big transitions were the result of the Carnation Revolution in Lisbon on April 25, 1974
(Huffington Post). Another important event was when Portugal joined the European Union, this
allowed for more import and export opportunities as well as access to more well developed
political systems which led to the country becoming a less communist based system (Europa).
The year 1995 was the start of a socialist led political system under the power of AntПЊnio
Gutteres. He helped the country form strong ties with the United States which led to more
evolution of the country and its policies. Ever since the Carnation Revolution, the socialist party
has been in the forefront of all the political parties and has been the most popular majority since
1975. The definition of a socialist is, the state

The music industry has developed in a series of technological advances, from the development

The majority of released recordings (approximately 85%)пјЊcannot even balance revenues and
expenditures. In addition, 15% profitable recordings are relied on greatly by the recording
companies, who use them to subsidise less profitable types of music to cover the costs of
developing new artists, and to keep their businesses operational, while downloaders often do not
focus on that. Finally, the most direct victims are the creative artists which include musicians,
singers, songwriters and producers, for the royalties and fees have not been earned by themselves.
Virtually about 95% of artists rely on these fees to make a living and their reputations which are
discredited by the inferior quality of pirated copies spreaded to the public.
Therefore, music piracy is destroying both the music industry and anything that relies on the music
industry.
Positive effects
However, music piracy also brings benefits to the music industry. At first, it is a way access to

contracts, the music record labels are not holden by artists themselves that their new label is not
allowed to produce as the old one, and if the old label decides not to republish anymore or release

After the eighteen long years of the Don t Ask, Don t Tell policy, which limits gays from being

stated that The services will no longer separate service members under DADT (U.S. Department of

some individuals the process seems amicable and the threshold for moral ways keeps falling down
with every act of cheating. This leads to serious vicious cycle which ends nowhere. Once fell in the
trap of unethical performance, individuals find it extremely hard to break the cycle.
There are different levels and types of cheating. It may range from small school going children to
adults in performance years of their lives. The domains of cheating are also diverse, academic

Essay about Pros and Cons of the Private Insurance Industry
1. Introduction
Extreme weathers, such as storm, floods, heat waves, drought, glacial retreat, have suffered human
being and threaten the life, properties and economies for a long time. In recent years, a significant
increase is observed in the extreme weathers, such as the number of heavy precipitation events,
more intense and longer drought/heat waves as a consequence of anthropogenic influences (IPCC,
2011). In particular, intensification of extreme precipitation is likely to lead extreme coastal high
water associated with an increase in mean sea level. On the other hand, there might be positive
results from global warming, such as improved agriculture in some high latitude regions
(Mendelsohn, 2006), but economic losses from weather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Correspondingly, the museum staff ponders what is the line of sight for the targeted demographic, so they know where to place the artifacts and how the exhibit should be structured. Similarly, the museum staff must predict how the public will respond to their exhibit and the necessary precautions to avoid negative reviews. Most importantly, the museum staff must question if the exhibit can offend a certain demographic and the steps they will need to take to properly represent that society. When creating an exhibit, the museum staff must contemplate how the structure and content will relate to the audience and what is the best approach to have interaction between the exhibit and its attended audience. ... The War on Drugs has been an ongoing effort to combat drug abuse, drug use and crime associated with the drug trade. It s a war without a clear enemy. Anything waged against a shapeless, intangible noun can never truly be won President Clinton s drugczar Gen. Barry McCaffrey said as much in 1996. (TIME 2009) Despite the trillions of dollars waged on the war on drugs and the countless arrest made related to drugs, it appears that we are fighting a losing battle. Many crimes such as robbery, assault and murder are often linked to drugs. Perpetrators, rob, steal and kill for the purpose of buying drugs. However, if drugs were legal any and all profits made via the sale of a drug would directly benefit the economy and stimulate growth for health reform, funding new medical research and abuse prevention programs. This book is discussing the adventures of a young boy (Huck Finn) and a runaway slave during 19th century. Throughout the story the audience can begin to see the moral maturation of Huck Finn. From not having any one too really to trust to him maturing to the point of actually seeing what was right and wrong. During 19th century society seem that citified was the right choice. Huck Finn has trouble trying to follow this unwritten law. • 6. Hourglass Vs Invisibility Cloak Research Paper The invisibility cloak and the hourglass are both very magical and powerful objects. Both options have very much to offer to the lucky receiver. Although, when it comes to true events, the invisibility cloak is the better option. The invisibility cloak is the better choice out of the two options. This is because it can protect the lives of innocent people and animals when used for good. One day, if a government based spy needed to spy on alleged terrorists, the spy would be able to watch and listen the terrorists silently. On the other hand, the hourglass is also an option. The hourglass allows the user to have an extra hour of time each day. This gift could give more times for activities, homework, and fun. It could also give more time for sleep or rest, especially during a busy 8th grade year. The hourglass is a very resourceful option out of the two choices. It says that the hourglass will give the user an extra hour of time each day, but since there are twenty four hours a day only, the hour does not fit in. • 8. The Chimney Sweeper By William Walker Analysis In Songs of Innocence and of Experience, the two poems The Chimney Sweeper highlight the injustice during Blake s time such as: poverty, child labour, and abuse. The Chimney Sweeper illustrates William Blake s understanding of innocence and experience by exposing the hypocritical nature of authority during the 1700s. This essay will begin with explaining Blake s concept of innocence and experience . Firstly, William Blakeperceives innocence and experience as contrasting states of the soul. As a result, the narrators are examples of his understanding through their accounts of their life. In The Chimney Sweeper (1789), William Blake wrote: And so Tom awoke and we rose in the dark And got with our bags brushes to work Tho the morning was cold, Tom was happy Warm, So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm. (Blake, Lines 21 24). The boy and Tom Dacre are innocent through their optimism in their hopes despite their harsh reality. The essence of Blake s understanding of innocence is the ability to be joyful and celebratory with hope. In contrast, the narrator in The Chimney Sweeper (1794) knows that there is no hero or escape from the life of a Chimney Sweep. Essentially showing experience as the acceptance of the present reality as the only reality. On top of that, William Blake s concepts of experience can be further explained through the imagery used by the narrator in The Chimney Sweeper (1794). In The Chimney Sweeper (1794), William Blake writes: And because i am happy, dance sing, They think they have done me no injury: And are gone to praise God his Priest King Who make up a heaven of our misery. ( Lines 9 12). The boy shows a full understanding of the hopelessness in his situation without interruption from dreams or thoughts of being saved. He thoroughly explains the misuse of power in authority in his situation. However, Tom Dacre vividly describes his friend s dream in two stanzas. The children in The Chimney Sweeper (1789) do not fully comprehend the harsh reality of chimney sweeps and instead clings to the ideas of hope. The minor becomes responsible for themselves financially and otherwise and can no longer depend on anyone else. A minor can become emancipated one of two ways; through a court order or without legal declaration but with guardians permission. Emancipation laws can differ depending on the state. Diamond v. Jhette Diamond had miraculously been living without any support from her own mother since the age of thirteen. Jhette got her first job at the age of eleven at a restaurant as a server and busser while keeping a high grade point average throughout high school (being a sophomore at the time of emancipation). Counsel described her as thriving and focused on her future. Jhette initially moved out of her mother s home due to domestic violence and substance abuse. Jhette claims that such actions had been triggered by the man her mother had maintained a relationship with. Since the court found that Jhette had been living independently and managing her own financial affairs an order of emancipation was ruled. It was known to be a classic case of emancipation. Jhette asked the court if the order of emancipation could be styled to reserve her right to receive financial support from her mother since she had not been at all financially supported before nor after she had left home. The court agreed as counsel provided that the Act (New Mexico Emancipation of Minors Act) authorized the court to do so for the one or more purposes brought forth. • 11. The Effects Of Video Advertisements On Society Essay Introduction Video advertisements are quick and momentary but their influence is pervasive and prolonged. The power of video advertisements shape norms and common societal expectations on how a person should look and behave. Overtime these gender roles (societal expectations associated with men and women) and behaviors become implicit thus implying normal (or in some instances ideal) men and women should exhibit these qualities and characteristics. He most likely thought he wouldn t be able to do it. But when he did, he was shocked, but also happy. And when he got those dogs, he cried. And he even said himself that he was the most elated boy in the world. My second example is when he caught his first raccoon with Old Dan and Little Ann. It was the beginning of the hunting season. And his mom let him go hunting. When he took the dogs out, they found the smell of a raccoon. At first, it was hard to catch the raccoon, because Little Ann and Old Dan wouldn t go across a river. Central to the theory of evolution, is natural selection. However, Darwin s theory challenges the interpretation of the Bible, and the origins of human being (McGrath 372). Darwin s theory of natural selection simply states that humanity has emerged within the natural order (McGrath 372). There have been many Christian responses to Darwinism, one in specific named young earth creationism (McGrath 372). Throughout the text, the author highlights the main character s inability to filter through many details as she describes the end of various relationships following Maya s betrayal. The author s thorough description of settings, characters, and events emphasizes Georgia s difficulty in focusing on what details of her life are important, as most of them seem important to her. Recordings from neurons in the basal ganglia of monkeys during various motor tasks reveal that the discharge of single cells in the neostriatum show a direct correlation with movements of the contralateral arm or leg, and that the discharge of substantial percentage of neurons precedes the onset of a movement. These studies suggest that the basal ganglia participate in movements at a high level, including the planning of movement synergy s. Benefits of Predation When a predator makes a kill, it feeds not only them, but other species as well. For example, if there is an elk kill, this will feed other predators like bear, mountain lion, coyotes, eagles and others. Smaller rodents and other scavengers, like ravens will also benefit from a kill. We are predators ourselves we have to kill to eat, just most of us don t do it ourselves, if we are meat eaters. What we don t eat can go to the dogs and feed them. Bacteria and other parasites can also join in on the fun. Other things we don t eat, can go to compost, so there are many ways in which predation benefits the food chain. It definitely feeds various links on the food web.
