2. Coretta Scott King
Coretta Scott King
Coretta Scott King was born on April 27, 1927 in Heiberger, Alabama. Heiberger was a small
segregated town. Coretta s parents were Obadiah and Bernice Scott. She has an older sister named
Edythe and a younger brother, Obie. Coretta was named after her grandmother Cora Scott. Her family
was hard working and devoted Christians. Coretta had a strong temper, feared no one and stood up for
herself. Coretta, Edythe and Obie had to walk three miles to an all black school in Heiberger. Coretta
faced many challenges in school and when she would come back from school she would ask her
mother why is this happening. Her mother encouraged her to do her best in school and not to worry
about anything except education. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She learned to play the piano and the trumpet at her school. Coretta and Edythe were both in a choir
called the Lincoln School Little Chorus. In 1941 the choir traveled to some midwestern colleges, this
helped open doors for Coretta and Edythe s future. In September 1945 Coretta went to Antioch
College, this college was integrated. Her closest friend was Sally Plotkin. Coretta found out she was
behind in her work but she forced herself to work much more harder. She joined the Quaker peace
groups at the college and learned to play the violin as well as singing in the college choir. After going
to Antioch College, Coretta went to Boston s New England Conservatory of Music. When Coretta met
a wonderful man named Martin Luther King Jr., it seemed like Martin wanted to marry her. Coretta
took several months to think about being married, she even asked her sister if she should. When she
decided to get married to Martin she made two commitments to him. In June 1953 Coretta and Martin
were married and moved to Montgomery, Alabama in 1954. She has four children named Yolanda,
Martin Luther III, Dexter and Bernice. On many occasions Coretta and Martin fought for the freedom
of blacks. Coretta s first action to support freedom with Martin was the Montgomery bus boycott in
1955. In 1956 whites and blacks were able to sit wherever they wanted to on a first come first served
basis. In 1959 Coretta, Martin and her four children moves

My family and I go on a camping trip to Allegheny State Park every year. We have many funny
memories from the trips. Many of the stories revolve around the bears that live in the mountains in
Allegheny State Park. The funniest had to happen three years ago.
The camping trip took place in the month of August, just like every year. The trip included my parents,
siblings, and my uncle, aunt and cousins. Every year we rent two cabins right next to each other. This
year the bears were coming up to the cabin a lot. They started to come out about 5 or 6 pm and then
look for food. The bears will eat anything. They took poptarts off of the table at the cabin next to us.

We went on many more camping trips; but never forgot the where my plans were not so complete.
Checklists are good.
It was in the summer of 1999 when my family decided to take a camping trip to Colorado. I was a
typical 15 year old high school student, which meant family vacations were lame in my eyes.
We left Kansas City after school one Friday and made our way through the very flat, very
uninteresting state of Kansas. I slept the majority of the drive out to the great land of Colorado. For the
first night of our stay, Dad rented a hotel room since it was dark and too hard to see to pitch the tent.
The next day, we woke up early and left the hotel to enjoy the scenery. We spent a long day hiking
through the mountains, marveling over the work of years and years millennia even to carve out the
intricate patterns and formations of the canyons. As we grew tired and hungry, we decided to find a
camp site and set up camp for the night.
We found a site at the foothills of Pike s Peak. There were pine trees everywhere. The woman from the
Pine Sol commercial would have considered it her personal heaven. The sky had been relatively clear
all day with only a fluffy cloud or two. However, just as we began unpacking the car, the sky darkened

4. Immigration Policy Summary
In the spring of 2013, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization
Act , or S.744, was introduced by a bipartisan group of eight Senators. In this bill, five key reforms are
proposed. Firstly, that of Border Security: This clause proposes an increase of spending by a whopping
$40 billion, and an addition of fencing and 20,000 new Border Patrol agents to hopefully achieve a
90% apprehension rate of illegal immigrants in the border within the next five years. Secondly,
Legalization: This clause aims to facilitate the immigration process. Thirdly, Legal Immigration: This
clause aims to shift visa priorities from family based immigration to employment based immigration

immigration policies as the legalization of undocumented immigrants could strengthen the economy.
Taking into consideration the New Economics of Labor Migration Theory, this bill provides protection
of human rights (such as that from domestic violence) that might compel women and children to want
to legally migrate into the United States. Once they are legalized, they will be part of the taxpaying,
American population. Therefore a plausible conclusion that can be derived from this theory and the
Neo Classical Theory, I opine that if this bill is passed, it will increase the number of legal Mexican
immigrants in the US. Subsequently, I view the issue of undocumented immigrants as one that is
impossible to fully solve . However, there are measures that can be taken to lessen the number of
illegal immigrants to the smallest number possible. The legalization of undocumented immigrants is
important because it not only betters the economy, but also betters working conditions for the migrants
and opens a bigger possibility for family reunification. Additionally, immigrants contribute to the
economy through their immigration application fees, additional tax payments, lower costs of goods
and services, and many more. Therefore, I vouch for this bill, so long as it enhances the legalization of
undocumented

5. A Kid s Guide To Divorce By Lorrie Moore Analysis

Professor Csedrik
27 February 2015
Should We Just Ignore It? The divorce rate in the United States is higher than fifty percent today. The
divorce rate continues to increase in America due to many reasons, one of them being that society
today is a disposable society. Back in the day, when someone had a broken shoe he or she would fix it,
and if there was a problem with a couple s marriage, the two would work through it. But today, it is
easier to ignore the problem, throw away what we do not like anymore and move on to the next, which
is not the right way to live. In Lorrie Moore s A Kid s Guide to Divorce , Moore writes about a child

Divorce is one of the short stories from her book called Self help . In Moore s real life growing up, the
elephant in the room with her and her parents was her career choice. In A Kid s Guide to Divorce , the
elephant in the room was the parents divorce and the mother s unwillingness to address the problems
and talk about the divorce with her child. But she still makes it clear that she wants to know what her
ex husband is doing (citation). The mom pretty much wants to ignore the problem and although the
child is protecting his mother from some information which would hurt her feelings, he or she still
deserves to know what happened and what s next. The mom keeps ignoring the issue and continues to
push it to the side which will ultimately create a bigger problem and blow up in her face. It is clear
that Moore gets her inspiration for her writing from her own life and

8. Prenatal Assessment Risks Paper
Prenatal Assessment Risks
Modern day technology has taken the surprise out of pregnancy for a large number of parents if they
choose to utilize it. An option parents might explore is having a prenatal assessment to determine if
there are any identifiable genetic abnormalities in the unborn child. There are risks associated with
certain procedures such as false positive results, procedure induced miscarriages or possible fetal limb
abnormalities.
The alpha fetoprotein (AFP) assay is a blood test that can detect spina bifida and certain chromosomal
abnormalities by determining the level of the protein found in the mother. An AFP article on
VeryWell.com states, some claim they have only a 5 percent false positive rate, most research finds
that there is actually an 80+ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The procedure is similar except it sucks out some threadlike projections (villi) from the outer
membrane that envelops the amniotic sac and fetus (Rathus, 2015) rather than fluid from the amniotic
sac. It carries a slightly higher percentage (.7) for miscarriage than an amniocentesis but, it is
performed earlier in the pregnancy than a typical amniocentesis which might explain the increased
miscarriage probability. The Mayo Clinic states, Some older studies suggested that chorionic villus
sampling might cause defects in a baby s fingers or toes. However, the risk appears to be a concern
only if the procedure is done before week 10 of pregnancy (Mayo Clinic Staff, n.d.).
Modern medicine continues to bring new technology to its patients and is steering in the direction of
Science Fiction in some areas. Every individual has to decide if prenatal testing works for them, if the
result is worth the risk of induced stress, miscarriage and/or fetal limb abnormalities. Psalm 127:3 in

10. The Hotel Of Barton Fink
The Use of Sound as an Alternate Reality in the Hotel of Barton Fink Barton Fink is a film that has no
set plotline other than a writer who experiences writing block in a detached reality in a hotel. Barton s
writer s block could stem from the fact that he believes that he has sold out to writing screenplays for
large movie studios or it may be from all the distractions the Hotel Earle provides for him. The use of
background noises within Barton s room and the hotel itself helps the viewer to see that reality within
that room is slightly distorted. Sound that is perhaps louder than usual and prolonged moments of
silence are ways that create a different atmosphere than the outside world. With a simplistic sound
track that is used sparsely, it helps to keep focus on the dialogue or the actors onscreen. Barton admits
that he chose that particular hotel to give him a quiet place to work, but of course, many of the
problems he experiences seem to come from there. In this essay I will explain how the sound effects
used within the scenes involving the hotel or the room create a different reality in that space. The first
sound heard in the hotel is the continuous ring of the bell Barton taps to get the attention of the front
desk. It goes on for longer than is realistically possible and is silenced by a light touch. Since it rang
for so long, it should have given Barton a sign that something was different about the hotel he chose to
stay at. Looking into the dull room, the door

11. Apocalypse Now Analysis
In Francis Ford Coppola s critically acclaimed movie Apocalypse Now he portrayed a journey of five
soldiers into psychological madness down the harsh Vietnamese jungle river, and through these four
specific scenes in cinematic order of the boat s landings, Francis used this screenplay to boast utter
psychological madness of the human mind. The first scene that deconstructs the stages of madness is
the beach landing scene where the crew launches their patrol boat and destroys a village alongside
Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore. Throughout this montage of scenes, also the longest shot segment in the
movie, shows the men descending into the first stage of evil, which is the love of war; dehumanization
of the enemy . Throughout these scenes at Charlie Beach , we really see an unfair fight led by
Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore. Kilgore has installed a philosophy upon his men to disregard the military
and fight this war as a game. In the first opening shots of the battle scene, Francis uses a beautifully
done shot of the Helicopters descending Into the village in preparation for an assault. From this scene,
we see how unfair the fight is. Right before the guns fire, we get two shots. The first shot is the raging
helicopters that look like cowboys on horses or Calvary. The second shot is the peaceful and quiet
Vietnamese villages. With these two shots, it demonstrates how the platoon sees war as playing
cowboys and Indians. In many of the background shots of the village siege, we

INTRODUCTION
In this essay, I will analyze the profound effect that the fall of Communism in Czechoslovakia, and
subsequently the Czech Republic, in the Velvet Revolution of 1989, had on the legal regime in the
country. Obviously the process of conversion to democracy was a long and arduous one, fraught with
struggles. I will lay out this essay as follows; to begin, I will give a general introduction that will
discuss things that had to be altered after the fall of the Communist regime. I will look back at the
history of democracy in the Czech Republic, and how forty years of Communist rule tore this proud
tradition to shreds. The main part of the essay will revolve around a discussion of the build up of
democratic institutions after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

democratic parliament in years, there was permanent conflict on the issue of Slovakian autonomy. As

They must stay up to date on the latest education policies and techniques. Since it s beginning, Head
Start programs have grown and services have expanded significantly in response to dramatic changes
in families and their communities. Local Head Start programs are at the head of these new
developments and must constantly re evaluate themselves to adapt to changes in needs and resources.
This attention to program performance and continuous quality improvement is critical. Program
evaluation and continuous quality improvement ensures that Head Start programs develop as learning
communities.
To help program directors meet these challenges, the Administration on Children, Youth and Families
developed a series of evaluations that explain program evaluation where the teacher evaluates each
child that enters into the Head Start. Good program evaluations help to improve program operations,
measure program performance and effects and document important lessons for other programs. With
this information, program managers are better able to direct limited resources to where they are most
needed and most effective.

examine the children s behavior and general knowledge. The teacher s keep each students evaluation

16. The Pros And Cons Of Protective Tariffs
First, one of the restrictions to free trade is tariff. According to Menlo Atherton High School (2015), a
tax that is put on imported goods from abroad is known as tariff. Tariff is used to raise the price of
imported goods so that the domestic producers can sell their similar goods at higher prices. Domestic
government will be the one collecting the money that is received from tariff. Protective tariffs and
revenue tariffs are the types of tariff. Protective tariffs are put on imported goods so that it will be
more expensive. It is used to protect the domestic industries from the competition of foreign firms.
Revenue tariffs are used to raise money for government (Menlo Atherton High School, 2015). The
benefit of tariffs are uneven due to tariff is a tax. Besides that government is benefited, domestic
industries are benefit from it as well due to the reduction of competition from foreign productions. It is
because of the increased prices of the imported products. However, it is unfortunate for the consumers
because the higher price of goods is due to higher import price. Tariff tends to bring advantages for
government and producers but not to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Menlo Atherton High School (2015), a quota is a limit on the number of goods that can
be shipped in. A quota seems like a sensible alternative to a tariff when the intention is to restrict
foreign producers’ access to the domestic market. Importers typically are limited to a maximum
amount of products that they can sell in the home market over specific periods. A quota, similar to a
tariff, causes costs to increase in the home market. This induces domestic producers to increase
production and consumers to reduce consumption. One difference between a tariff and a quota is that
the tariff generates revenue for the government, while the quota generates a revenue gain to the owner
of import licenses. Consequently, foreign producers might capture some of this

17. My I Decided For A Teacher
The day I decided that I wanted to be a teacher I pictured myself choosing my favorite books and
having thoughtful discussions. I imagined my students would enjoy the many activities we completed
and at the end of the unit they would take a test and we would move on to the next topic. I was
unaware of what the field of education would actually entail. I soon learned that teaching was nothing
like what I imagined. I didn t realize that my teachers made teaching a classroom full of student look
easy because they used several techniques. They realized that they must take into account not only
what they are teaching (content), but also whom they are teaching (individual students) (Corley,
2007). As I ve learned more about my field I have realized that teaching involves providing the best
education to students based on their ability to learn. When you understand that this is what teaching is
about, you try practices that will make your instruction stronger. Differentiation is one way to make
sure that all learners gain the education they deserve.
Learning Plan When planning any lesson, I always consult the standards to determine what students
must know and be able to do. The standard for this lesson states, Students analyze, make inferences
and draw conclusions about persuasive text and provide evidence from text to support their analysis.

18. An Analysis Of Ellen Hopkins s You Know My Story
The poem, You Know My Story , is an excerpt from a larger poem, and novel, called Glass by Ellen
Hopkins. The book is the second book in a series of three describing the rollercoaster life of Kristina
Georgia Snow while on drugs. The free verse poetry books were very largely inspired by Hopkins
daughter s own drug addiction (Goodreads). Her daughter, Cristal was very much like Kristina from
the story. She became addicted to the same drug as Kristina and even had a child that was later
adopted by Hopkins, just like the character from the story (Hopkins). The poem is written in a very
interesting way. If someone were to read the poem straight across as literature is meant to be read, the
poem would be very descriptive and tell a short story on just one page. But with many of Hopkins
works, if the poem is read just using the stand alone words or phrases on the right, a new poem is
born. This new poem is a much creepier summary of the larger poem. In this case the new poem reads,
my dive into insanity, no longer perfect, Kristina became the monster (Hopkins). The entire poem has
a very dark mood. It has very deep traces of helplessness and a misplaced self identity for the narrator.
The tone shifts a few times, but throughout it shares the same darkness of the mood. First there is
anger, then sadness and, finally complete vulnerability. Any piece of literature that talks about an
addict of any sort, tends to be very dark and depressing. This poem is no exception to that idea. If a
person was new to the works of Ellen Hopkins, they might not be aware of the fact that her books are
poetry. The free verse style lends itself well to the writing of a novel, but it is not the type of rhyming
poetry that most people are used to. It seems more like a book than a poem at first, yet if reread the
poetic nature is made more noticeable. Hopkins has stated that she doesn t plan out her books
beforehand because her poetry has to flow naturally and too much planning messes with the natural
flow of things (Hopkins).
There is no discernable rhythm or rhyme scheme to this poem. That holds true for most free verse
poems. As previously stated, this type of poetry tends to work well when writing an entire book
comprised of

thirdof the region s population lives in countries affected by or emerging from conflict.
Moreover,HIV/AIDS continues to threaten African lives and livelihoods. Africa is the only region

highlighted the need for moreintensive efforts to effectively address some of its major development
constraints. Acombination of ineffective policies, outright mismanagement (in some countries),
heavyexternal debt burden, poor governance, and conflicts precipitated the massive economicdecline

20. The Luck Of Ginger Coffey Essay
In Brian Moore s The Luck of Ginger Coffey, the city of Montreal is depicted as being in a kind of
stasis, its landscape and inhabitants repeatedly described as frozen and stagnant: Four forty five.
Office workers, waiting release as the minute hand moved slowly towards the hour, looked at the
darkness beyond their windows and saw edges of frosting begin to mist the panes (Moore 117).
Despite this passage s emphasis on stillness, however, it nevertheless features two references to time.
Throughout Moore s novel, attention is repeatedly paid to specific times or time frames, complicating
the underlying image of Montreal as a city averse to progress. Considering the subjectiveness of the
third person limited narration, it seems best to examine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The profession of the contemporary newspaper typist saw a change in corporate culture wherein the
clock became a powerful object, owned only by the foreman and governing the employees. It seems,
however, that Moore s depiction of time is more appropriately a reflection of Ginger s fixation on the
myth of the new world as a land of boundless opportunity. Indeed, the clock does seem to be
independent of the diurnal cycle: As [Coffey] started off, the sun moved west, unadmitted by the pall
clouds which all day had curtained the frozen river and the city islanded within it . . . Four forty five
(117). This image of the sun being blocked from the city by clouds demonstrates the city s apparent
ignorance for the sun s position in the sky, yet the passage continues on, repeatedly referring to the
passing minutes as Coffey makes his way to the Tribune. One thing that time does not seem so
independent from, however, is the lives of the office workers in the financial district, waiting release
as the minute hand moved slowly towards the hour (117). At five o clock . . . down came the office
workers, spilling out into the streets (117); at five thirty . . . [another] policeman . . . invited Coffey to
cross [the street] (117). In this passage, the connection between time and nature has been completely
severed and time has become reappropriated as

Fury is the latest movie from director David Ayer, who also directed the films: End of Watch,
Sabotage, and Street Kings. Fury is defined as a wild or violent anger, or a spirit of punishment from
Greek Mythology. After seeing this movie, I now have a slightly different interpretation. I now define
fury as the uncontrollable rage of anger from a righteous man attempting to achieve justice for the lost
and the departed. In Fury a 5 man Sherman tank unit from the United States embarks on a mission into
Germany during World War II to protect a supply line from an advancing Nazi SS unit on a collision
course with them. The M4 Sherman Tank was rushed into production in October 1941 as a response to
the fall of France in only a matter of weeks to Germany s Nazi soldiers. At this time the U.S. had
fallen behind in tank technology, as no immediate threat seemed imminent to the U.S. after World War
I. The design of the Sherman tank emphasized speed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The core values of equality and social justice in American society have changed significantly over the
last decades. The once dignified country that upholds both its traditional core values are now eroding
through the systemic unjust laws, which favors the affluent ones. In consequence, there is an uneven
distribution of power and wealth in the United States, where some become extremely powerful and
rich, while the others become miserably poor and vulnerable. This serious ramification can be seen in
the widespread concerns among the Wall Street executives and the middle lower class people.
According to The Divide by Matt Taibbi and the documentary Inside Job, white collar Wall Street

Slowly but steadily, this then widen the current divide in the American society in which the wealthy

social justice in addition to the elite level crime offenders being treated and seen as more socially

Age discrimination laws are enforced by Civil Rights Center and the Equal Employment Opportunity

Discrimination Act of 1975 are laws that govern age discrimination.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 Congress found that older workers were finding
themselves disadvantaged in retaining jobs; in many cases companies were setting age limits
regardless of the person s ability to work. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
provides information concerning the needs and abilities of older workers. These studies found that
long term unemployment in seniors often results in deterioration of morale and skill. The EEOC
sponsors and assist State and community informational and educational programs. The ADEA
prohibits arbitrary age discrimination by employers whom work with businesses and workers alike to
solve problems that arise (The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967).

Squats were introduced to me during weight training practices for high school soccer. Our coaches
valued the importance of muscle AND agility training, so naturally we spent a lot of time in the weight

First, according to a Fit Day article, squat exercises are great for a total lower body workout. Not only
does this exercise target the gluteus muscles, but it also tones the legs, strengthens the core, increases
flexibility and with added weight, engages the upper body.
In general, it s a good idea to look over proper form before beginning this exercise. To start, a squat
rack and barbell is needed. Most gyms will have a squat rack, but some may have attached racks,
called Smith Machines. Several exercise science majors (and that Body Builder article) in my friend
group don t recommend these racks, partly because they don t allow for users to find their
center/balance and they place a lot of pressure on the knees.
Regardless, there are various ways to do squat exercises, but I prefer detached barbell racks. In that
case, according to a Workout Labs article, you ll want to set the barbell on the rack as the same height
as your upper chest. Then position your body under the bar while bending your knees slightly. At this
point, the barbell should be resting on your shoulders, but avoid placing it on the bone because you get

32. The Accomplishment Of Space Travel
The accomplishment of space travel on 12 April 1961 marked the dawn of a new space era. Since
then, humans have advanced in technology and knowledge through space exploration. However,
although we watch video clips of astronauts enjoying a gravity free environment, there are challenges
in space, the greatest threat being the lack of oxygen and pressure. Furthermore, spaceflight has a
significant impact on the human body as extreme variations in temperature and intense radiation from

Human physiology is adapted to living in the Earth s atmosphere and a certain amount of oxygen to
breathe. The primary challenge faced by astronauts is the lack of oxygen and pressure in space. The
minimum partial pressure of oxygen that can be tolerated is 16 kPa (atmospheric pressure is 100 kPa),
below which the astronaut is in danger of dying from hypoxia, a medical condition in which the body
or a region of the body is deprived of adequate oxygen supply (Harding 27). In the vacuum of space,
gas exchange in the lungs continues as normal but results in the removal of all gases from the
bloodstream. Furthermore, blood and other body fluids boil at the pressure below 6.3 kPa, resulting in
the formation of gas bubbles in body fluids, a condition called ebullism (29). However, most
spacesuits provide sufficient oxygen pressure to sustain full consciousness. Another crisis that
astronauts face in space is the rapid compression (sudden drop in pressure of a sealed system). The
risk of fatal rupture of the delicate alveoli of the lungs is low, however, rupture of eardrums and
sinuses; shock caused accelerated oxygen consumption lead to barotrauma and hypoxia (29).
Astronauts without the protection of Earth s atmosphere and magnetosphere are exposed to high levels
of radiation. High levels of radiation damage lymphocytes (cells involved in maintaining the immune
system), causing lowered immunity in the astronauts. Radiation from cosmic rays significantly

There are many factors that influence a nation s willingness to enter into Trade Agreements. Briefly
outline the basic models discussed in the readings and class (Heckscher Ohlin and Ricardo Viner).
Discuss what factors influence domestic trade preferences (Political, Economic, Sociotropic, etc.).
According to the article, the hypothesis of Heckscher Ohlin model or factor endowments is that all
factors of production within a country are mobile across sectors, that markets are perfectly
competitive, and that there are constant returns to scale in production (Mansfield Mutz, 427). Beyond
that, another assumption of Heckscher Ohlin model or factor endowments is critical is that factors of
production can move quickly and easily from one sector to another (Mansfield Mutz, 428). In my
opinion, one thing can be very easy to see that skill is the most important factor which can gain more
benefits from open trade. Briefly, for a country, the more advanced technology you have the more you
can get from open trade, for example, America can gain more benefits than China because of highly
skilled individuals will benefit economically from open trade (Mansfield Mutz, 451) The second
model Ricardo Viner which is a special factor that is not a unique factor affect open trade, it
emphasizes an individual works will affect trade preferences and it posits that trade preferences
depend on the industry in which a person works (Mansfield Mutz, 425). This special factor will make

Progressive Education refers to a pedagogical movement that started as a means to reform traditional

42. Essay about The History and Development of Dennisport
If you re like many of our customers, you ve been coming to Dennisport for years. Whether your
parents brought you, a friend got married here or you stumbled onto our sandy shores one fateful
night, Dennisport has a way of hooking you in and bringing you back. In the grand scheme of things,
the tourism era of Dennisport s history started relatively recently, but the part of town between Route
28 and Nantucket Sound has a rich history dating back to the colonial era.
The first settlers descended on the land that was to become Dennis and Dennis Port in 1639. As a
matter of background, the land that is now Dennis was selected not for its proximity to the ocean, but
for its abundance of fresh water ponds and springs. It is estimated ... Show more content on

In an odd quirk of history, Dennis was the one of the first towns in America to manufacture salt! By
1803, there were 24 different salt works operating in town, with vats totaling more than 19,500
running feet.
After the War, fishing became the dominant industry of the town, and the Dennisport area benefited
greatly. By virtue of its location on Nantucket Sound, Dennisport hauled ashore thousands of tons
through the 1800s. You can see this seafaring lineage in the architecture of many of the houses along
Chase Ave, Depot Street and other surrounding roads. The widow s walks and cupolas along the roofs
once served a purpose other than enjoying a cocktail while drinking in a sunset they were lookouts for
sea captain s and sailors wives to watch for the return of their loved ones. Our Admiral s house was
once actually home to a sea captain, and we ve incorporated many of these design features into the
Captain s and Commodore s houses. At one point, the fishing fleet of Dennis brought in almost 7,000
tons of fish annually, a staggering number for the 18th and 19th centuries.
The completion of the Cape Cod Central Railroad was the first truly transformative event in the
village s history. The Cape Cod Branch Railroad, later the Cape Cod Central Railroad and the Old
Colony Railroad, reached the village somewhere around 1863 65, with the South Dennis and later the
Bass River stations opening on Great Western Road and

43. I Am A Doctor Who Works With Skin Diseases
Ever since I was in eighth grade, I have wanted to be a pediatric dermatologist a doctor who works
with skin diseases in children. When I was younger, I really had no idea what career I would be
interested in. Every time an adult would ask, What do you want to do when you grow up? I would
either say I wanted to be an Olympic gymnast or a singer or both, despite the fact that these were not,
and still are not, the most realistic career opportunities for me. When I was in eighth grade, I figured
out what career I wanted to have when I was older. It was then when I started getting these weird
bumps on the skin of my hands and feet. These bumps were not life threatening, just uncomfortable
and annoying, but I wanted the bumps to be cured. I went to a pediatric dermatologist hoping that she
could diagnose these bumps and cure them. Instead of a cure or even a definitive diagnosis, I had to
get two different biopsies that both came back inconclusive and also had to try different ointments and
creams that would only get rid of the bumps for a little while if at all. This process of constant
experimentation and uncertainty lasted for a whole year and was very frustrating. Finally, my
dermatologist finally told me that it was possibly Granuloma annulare, which is an autoimmune
disease, but that diagnosis was not definitive. She said, You know that saying that if it walks like a
duck and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck? Well, if it looks like Granuloma annulare, then

44. Immunodeficiency Syndrome In The Film Philadelphia
The film Philadelphia is about a young man named Andy who has acquired immunodeficiency
syndrome also known as AIDs. He does not inform anyone at his workplace that he has this disease, as
he is afraid of how he would be treated if people knew. Lesions begin to appear on his face and he
tells a coworker it was from getting hit with a tennis racquet. One day, a complaint Andy had written
and was needed for court vanished and all traces of it were mysteriously gone until one copy was
located miraculously and gotten to court just in time. Soon after he was fired. The company claims he
was fired due to that incident, but Andy knew someone had meddled with his report as it was
completed and put on his desk. Andy believes he was fired because of his illness and hires a lawyer to
make a case against the company for discrimination. Joe, the lawyer, wins the case, and Andy very
soon passes away. I believe this film encompasses advocacy. More specifically, the movie shows self
advocacy by Andy wanting to start a case to show how wrongly he was being treated, and professional
advocacy as Joe works for Andy and others with this disease to bring about justice. They were
showing that those who have AIDs were being unfairly treated and it ... Show more content on

It made me more aware of discriminations patients may experience due to their illness and not just
with the disease of AIDs. This could happen with many different kinds of illnesses. It was great to see
that others were willing to fight for Andy and knew that this discrimination was unfair and wrong. It is
crazy to think that this population was often treated like this in the past. They would lose their jobs
one because they had the illness and two because the business felt as though the person would not
have a future prospect for the company due to the illness being deadly. I am glad that that does not
seem to occur in today s times, but I am sure some discrimination does still exist

45. The Importance Of Cheating In Sports
The lamentable fact is that sometimes cheaters do prosper and no one seems to care. I do. Bending or
breaking the rules only creates worthless victories. From sports to taxes, cheating has the new norm in
our lives. People who are good at cheating gain prestige and respect for working smarter, not harder,
but that is immoral and a fallacy. Cheaters devalue the efforts of those who came before and those
who will follow them in any particular field. This willingness to cheat reverberates through most
sports. My goal, as an athlete, is to be a paragon of good sportsmanship and not cheat. To win through
hard work and effort without cheating is the most important moral principle in my life.
Running is my sport of choice and the focus of many elements in my life. There are ample
opportunities to cheat in a running event. You can use chemical enhancers such as amphetamines or
steroids. This has been the downfall of many top performing athletes, resulting in disgrace and the
removal of their names from coveted pinnacles like various Halls of Fame and Olympic
championships. A personal incident came at our third High School track meet in 2016. I was able to
come from behind and surpass several teammates after an illness had slowed down my training. Hard
work helped me improve my times after I became well. Seeding, or where you start a race, can make a
difference in performance and illness hurt my seeding. Seed Times come from the best personal time

you have studied this year.
National interest outlines the goals or objectives of foreign policy and is used as an all embracing
concept to justify policy preferences and actions. These commonly guide the interactions that occur in
the global political arena. China s key national interests consist of economic development, secession
and territorial integrity, creating a harmonious society and a peaceful rise within the international
community. The People s Republic of China is widely believed to be the world s next superpower by

Central to China s national interest is the determination that regions such as Tibet and Taiwan which
have historically challenged the autonomy of Beijing will not seek, declare, or attempt to attain
independence. If one of these regions were to successfully break away from Beijing, it is feared that
others would be encouraged to do the same. China s territory must remain intact and Beijing refers to
these pressures as one of the three forbidden forces of terrorism, extremism and separatism . In order
to prevent the Uighurs from seceding in China, Beijing implemented the heal Xinjiang plan 2010 to
achieve long term social stability through leap frog economic growth . This aims to raise the GDP of
the Xinjiang region, raise annual income of both urban and rural residents and increase local access to
public services to national levels by 2015. China has also used its military power as an instrument to
deter regions from challenging China s sovereignty. It is estimated that in 2012, China has
strategically placed 1,800 missiles on its coast facing Taiwan as a reminder to the island of the dangers
of formally declaring independence.

47. A Method of Doubt and Descartes Essay
A Method of Doubt and Descartes
In his first meditation, Descartes sets out with amazing clarity and persistence to clear himself of
every false idea that he has acquired previous to this, and determine what he truly knows. To rid him
of these rotten apples he has developed a method of doubt with a goal to construct a set of beliefs on
foundations which are indubitable. On these foundations, Descartes applies three levels of skepticism,
which in turn, generate three levels at which our thoughts may be deceived by error. Descartes states
quite explicitly in the synopsis, that we can doubt all things which are material as long as we have no
foundations for the sciences other than those which we have had up till now (synopsis:12). This ...

3. It is wise not to trust anything that has been deceiving in the past 4. Therefore, it is possible to be
mistaken about everything. In premise one his beliefs are derived from the senses, such as he sees that
he has a paper in his hand and concludes that it is a paper, and what is meant by through the senses, is
that his beliefs may have been based on others sense experience. All Descartes requires for the second
premise is the possibility that he may have been deceived, for if he cannot decide which is wrong, than
he must not have any knowledge. This leads to the third premise where it seems at least reasonable to
assume, that if one has been deceived previously, there is no absolute assurance that it is presently
correct. Therefore, there is a chance of being deceived about everything. But many critics will argue
that several of these false percepts can be corrected by means of alternative senses, such as he bent
stick in water example. Although our sight may be tricked into thinking that the mirage exists, by
using the sense of touch we can correct this falseness, and uncover what truly exists. Descartes does
retreat, and assess the damage from his first level by saying, there are many other beliefs about which
doubt is quite impossible, even though they are derived from the senses for example, that I am here,
sitting by the fire, wearing a winter dressing gown.. (1:18[12]). Here even he objects to the validity of

48. Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants
Should the United States Grant amnesty to immigrants who came here illegally? By: Chris Myers
Should the U.S. grant amnesty to immigrants who came here illegally? The answer to this question is
yes, they should. What s wrong with granting amnesty to hard working, tax paying individuals whose
only crime is their immigration status? Amnesty is not only the best solution to our immigration
problem, it is the only feasible solution. Here are some reasons to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants
now. Immigration is good for the economy. Despite all the fuss about immigrants stealing jobs,
immigration actually provides a benefit to the economy, whether those immigrants crossed the border
legally or not. Why you ask? Because of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While illegal immigration is a crime, the act of crossing the border without authorization is a mere
misdemeanor. Immigrants, in fact, may help drive crime down. The vast majority want to stay in the
country in order to work, so they naturally steer clear of breaking any laws. And as The Future of
Freedom Foundation s Sheldon Richman pointed out a few years ago, all manners of violent crimes
dropped dramatically since 1986, the last time an amnesty was granted to illegal immigrants. Yes, 14
percent of federal inmates are illegal immigrants, but they are largely there for immigration violations.
On the state level, Richman notes, less than 5 percent of inmates are illegal immigrants. Not exactly
the makings of a crime wave. An important one would be that immigration is a natural right. Judge
Andrew Napolitano explained that immigration is a natural right. What does that mean? A natural
right is a right inherent to our humanity, and the freedom of movement is such a right. The idea that
immigration needs to be authorized by the government flies in the face of that freedom. Immigrants
who come to America seeking the opportunity to work and pursue happiness, or those brought here at
too young an age to have any say in the matter, ought to be able to stay to pursue those opportunities.
Conversely, employers ought to be able to enter into contracts with any would be employees they
please. The government doesn t own the country and political borders are

* Most of the beer sold through retail ( take home or off premise ) outlets is standard beer. People
bring reusable glass bottles and fill them up. Most of the international brands are only available
through on premise channels like hotels, restaurants, bars, and karaoke bars. On premise prices are
considerably higher than off premise retail, and indeed considerably higher than many Chinese
consumers can afford. Among status conscious buyers purchasing beer in hotels, bars, discotheques,
and restaurants, however, demand is relatively price inelastic. Some customers are prepared to pay
very high prices even by Western standards for the right brand, as a sign of status.
Most foreign brewers had imported their brands to China before producing them domestically.
Multinational brewers had spent large sums on advertising, especially in the bigger hotels and
restaurants where prices were already high. In order to secure access to higher paying customers who
were frequenting these restaurants and hotels, larger beer companies paid an extra concession fee to
sell on these premises, thus furthering raising the final price of the beer. As a result, many local
Chinese beers were being pushed out with foreign beers often sold at twice the price of local ones.
Overseas brewers then began to import brands rather than products by finding cooperative partners in
China: the world s top 10 brewers had all entered the market in this way.

Secondly, gathering the data, conducting interviews and inquiries.
Finally, preparing the audit report, presenting conclusions and providing relevant solutions.
Bearing in mind, the most valuable part if the marketing audit often lies not so much in the auditor s

51. Isopropanol Research Paper
Many people assume alcohol is nothing more than liquor or rubbing alcohol; however, this is not the
case. There are many different types of alcohol including some of the alternate fuels we put into our
vehicles. Over the course of my working life I have come into contact with many different alcohols,
but Isopropyl Alcohol, or 2 propanol, was one of the ones that I encountered the most and I have
always wondered exactly what it is. 2 propanol is a very interesting molecule and has a lot of uses for
products in many different markets. Because of this, many people come into contact with it and do not
even know it. There are many important advances going on with the development of isopropanol that
could potentially change our lives. Although, it is important to know and understand the products that

Typically isopropanol is found in its liquid form because it is not easy to freeze with a freezing point
of 88.3°C. Not only does 2 propanol have a low freezing point, but it also ignites easily with a flash
point, the temperature in which a liquid can ignite in air, of 12° C, but it also denser than air when
vaporized (ILPI). So, if there was a fire and some became vaporized, it could potentially cause a large
explosion. Another interesting thing about isopropanol is how it is soluble in many different liquids
such as alcohol, water, ether, chloroform, benzene, and most organic solvents. This means that you can
create many different substances out of propanol that could potentially be used in places that you
would not expect. Such as a chemical we use at my work that we call blanket wash (mixture of 2
propanol and petroleum) and it is used to clean excess ink off of a printing press and it is used because
the ink is a different type than others and harder to remove than the ink on other types of

Title
Ansel Adams once said, No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or
produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to
build confidence in the creative spirit (Quote). Ansel Adams was born on February 20, 1902 in San
Francisco, California. Adams had a rough childhood, in the sense that he did not perform well in
school and was not very good at making friends. He was asked to leave school at the age of twelve
because he could not get his work done, due to the fact that he was dyslexic. In order to continue his
education, he has to be homeschooled. He took on the art of photography because of all his struggles
in school. Ansel Adams was a creative spirit. He took this up in order to show his real capability and
purpose in life. With the use of photography, he was able to educate people about the wilderness,
wartime injustice, and about photography in general. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

53. The Dilemmas Of Public Education And Public School...
The greatly discussed dilemma of having a child be taught in a public school setting versus a
homeschool setting has been evaluated by parents since the idea was first introduced in the 1970 s.
Public schooling had been the standard method of teaching since it is a requirement for states to
provide public, free education for children in grades K 12. However, the backlash against the system
began when two educational theorists and supporters of school reform, John Holt and Raymond
Moore, started to question both the techniques and the products of public schools. Some parents went
on to support the ideas of them and began to teach their children in the environment of their own
homes for several different reasons. Some included moral or religious reasons, a desire for high
educational achievement, dissatisfaction with public schools instructional program, or concerns about
drugs and peer pressure in a public school environment. Child development specialists believe that
homeschooled children are isolated from the outside world, therefore making them socially
handicapped. If being exposed to this type of education on an elementary school level, the child can
suffer from the lack of fundamental development of effective social skills needed for a lifetime ahead
of them.
It is believed that by restricting children from the real world and its many problems through home
schooling, they may never get the chance to learn both life lessons and social interaction skills on their
own
