Summary Of Alison Ayers
Furthermore, root causes of conflict on the continent are often associated with internal issues or an
African problem . Alison Ayers discusses the false perception of civil war and failed states that have
been created and implemented by the West (Ayers 2012). She disputes that civil war is internally
instigated and only portrayed this way due to western representations of Africa through media. Ayers
states that these efforts are made by hegemonic powers and are ideologically and politically
convenient (Ayers 2012, 261). Her implications here suggest that these ideological subjugations render
African regions vulnerable for the use of exploitation and continuous dependency on external powers.
This becomes the norm of African perception

The Importance Of A Courage Of Bravery
Zofia with many helpful moments
Zofia is 16 years old female, who is has a courage of bravery. One day in class there was a teacher that
was bullied by a taller student. The teacher shouted, I M GOING TO CALL YOUR MOTHER! Later
on in that situation, the taller student(ERIK) punched the teacher and laughed, TRY TO THREATEN
ME! But luckily Zofia split them apart by talking, This is enough of you guys, please sit down Erik I
will call your mother, and whispered to the teacher, are you ok? The teacher was very soothed by the
calmness of Zofia s voice. The class started clapping and cheering for her. Some of her classmates

In orchestra class, Zofia was getting ready to do the seating test of HER LIFETIME! Mr. Fischer said,
Zofia you are up! Zofia walks with confidence when she entered The Face Melting Room of Mr.
Fischer. First show me the Prelude Violin 1 part, measures 31 to 39, please? Zofia patiently picks up
her violin and started playing, Zofia that was great but could you add a bit more vibrato? Zofia
replied, Yes, I will gladly do that and also do you want me to play the next song(Symphony No.8 by
Schubert, measures 9 to 29, Violin 2 part)? Mr. Fischer replied, Yes that would be lovely, now let s get

Concert Review
I attended this concert at CU Denver s King Center, Concert Hall. Although the architectural design
and surrounding did not attest to much artistic creativity, the actual concert was better than my
expectations. I did have lower expectations because it was presented by students instead of
professional musicians or dancers as in my last concert review. The ensemble, a collaborative outcome
from MSU Denver and other dance/cultural music groups from denver, was actually a mix of African
and Indian/East Asian music and dance. The two teams alternated between each other giving the
audience a great deal of contrast of movement and sound. My favorite were the second and fifth
performances, African and Indian respectively.
The second performance by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They presented a story of a goddess teasing a boy with a magical ball, then throwing it into a pond
where a monster is asleep. The boy then awakens this monster trying to reach the ball. The story is
meant to encourage people to face their fears and fight for what they want. I liked how they used the
same movements when they were describing the story before starting their performance which they
later used during the dance. For example, one of the dancers showed the same throwing movement
which she later used in the performance. The dance was accompanied by an Indian chant like song
over the speakers. It had the same simplistic nature as the African music discussed above which I
again noticed that it put the focus on the dancers. They music and movement was much slower and
calmer than the Africans, which makes sense when seen in light of the Eastern Asian spiritual
philosophy of

Mamie Clark Essay
Mamie Phipps Clark was born on April 18, 1917 in Hot Spring, Arkansas. Mrs. Clark was brought up
knowing a professional lifestyle. Her father Harold H. Phipps was an African American, who was a
physician and was more than able to support his family of four rather easily. Her mother Katy
Florence Phipps, was a homemaker who was very involved in her husband s medical practice. Mamie
had explained that being an African American in the early 1930 s and living in the South was far from
easy, even for the middle class family that she came from. My father was a well respected black
person, and it was a phenomenon that is not really unusual in the South, that even in the highly

be more promising when it came to employment opportunities, and it would also allow for her to
explore the interests she had in children s development: I d always had an interest in children. Always,
from the time I was very small. I d always thought I wanted to work with children, and psychology
seemed a good field. In 1934, Mamie Clark graduated magna cum laude from Howard University,
Mamie then immediately enrolled in the psychology graduate program. In 1939 Mamie was studying
African American children that were in segregated nursery schools as a topic for her project. Her
master s thesis was, The Development of Consciousness of Self in Negro Pre School Children, and
that started the beginning of a line of research that later became historic when it was used to help
make racial segregation unconstitutional in American public schools. Her thesis concluded that the
children became aware of their blackness early on in their childhood. She used pictures of both white
and black boys with numerous animals and a clown. She concluded that the children did not self
identify with the different images, and it was this conclusion that later became the foundation

China s One Child Policy
In China, there are more than 1.3 billion people living, working and building families. In 1978, the
government created China s one child policy. China s one child policy was established by Chinese
leader Deng Xiaoping in 1979 to limit China s population growth. The policy lets couples have only
one child. If they have another child the mother is pressured to abort the pregnancy. The one child
policy has brought many disasters to china since the one child policy was established. First are the
problems of the female abortions and the killing of infants. As a result, abortions of females have
become commonplace, as well as the killing of babies born post partum. China s women must have an
abortion, even if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These eras were characterized by wide scale crime and violence. In the past 19th century, China has
had the same problem before. Where there are more men the more violence there is especially in the
lower classes. Ma Jihong is 38years old and she is six months pregnant. So when 10 people from the
local office showed up one morning in October, she slipped through a gap in the concrete wall around
the house and bolted like a sprinter toward the main road. She was trying to hide her pregnancy from
the government. They took my daughter in law at 9 a.m. By 5 p.m., she was dead, Gao said. Because
of the one child policy Mao had to abort her child even though she was two months away from labor.
In 2009, a woman in Liaocheng, also in Shandong province, died after being forced to get an abortion
a week before her due date. They made a women abort a full grown baby; it wasn t even a fetus
because it was fully developed baby. By the midpoint of the century, more than a quarter of the
Chinese population will be over 65. By 2050, about 25% or more will be over 65 years old. What this
means is, that most Chinese citizens don t have sibling, each child will likely have to care for their two
parents and every possibly their four grandparents (hence the 4 2 1 problem. The way that the 4 2 1
problem works is that the one child has to take care of his parents and if his grandparents are still there
they have to take care of them two. Which

400 kV high tension transmission lines near Madrid
Electric power transmission or high voltage electric transmission is the bulk transfer of electrical
energy, from generating power plants to substations located near population centers. This is distinct
from the local wiring between high voltage substations and customers, which is typically referred to as
electric power distribution. Transmission lines, when interconnected with each other, become high
voltage transmission networks. In the US, these are typically referred to as power grids or just the grid
, while in the UK the network is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High voltage overhead conductors are not covered by insulation. The conductor material is nearly
always an aluminium alloy, made into several strands and possibly reinforced with steel strands.
Copper was sometimes used for overhead transmission but aluminium is lower in weight for only
marginally reduced performance, and much lower in cost. Overhead conductors are a commodity
supplied by several companies worldwide. Improved conductor material and shapes are regularly used
to allow increased capacity and modernize transmission circuits. Conductor sizes range from 12 mm2
(#6 American wire gauge) to 750 mm2 (1,590,000 circular mils area), with varying resistance and
current carrying capacity. Thicker wires would lead to a relatively small increase in capacity due to the
skin effect, that causes most of the current to flow close to the surface of the wire.
Today, transmission level voltages are usually considered to be 110 kV and above. Lower voltages
such as 66 kV and 33 kV are usually considered

An Analysis Of Dean Spade s Normal Life
The Western thought functions through strongly rooted beliefs that have been prevalent for so long,
that the accuracy goes unquestioned. But just because it has gone on for so long, does not mean it is
the most efficient way of processing the world. The basis of biological determinism is used to interpret
and understand members of society, using predetermined categorizes to comprehend identity.
Furthermore, it is important to realize that using such a methodology for judgment leads to perceiving
race, gender, sexuality, and other identity markers in such a way that is exclusive and unjust. Viewing
society in regard to biology has various ramifications that impact the lives of every individual. By
functioning through biological determinism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book Normal Life, Dean Spade explains that the dispersion of power helps the creation of
norms that distribute vulnerability and security (4). This illustrates that not only does biology
determine who receives power and who doesn t, it also influences the norms that society upholds.
Through this perspective, biology determines how much a person is worth and predicts their future.
For those who do not have the ideal biology, they are left powerless and stranded in their fixed
conditions. Furthermore, those who are defined to be powerful must be protected from those others
(Spade, 5). This operation of norms is used to justify the exclusion of powerless populations from
programs that distribute wealth and life chances and attempts to validate the targeting of these same
populations for imprisonment and violence (Spade, 5). In reality, biology destines some groups to
flourish, to acquire enhanced opportunities, and to be treated in a way that benefits their success. At
the cost of this group, comes the groups that are being held back and facing an inevitable doomed
future; the norms produce security for some population and vulnerability for others (Spade, 5).
Through dividing power based on individuals biology, the sexist and racist mindsets are reinforced
and the conditions of violence, exploitation, and poverty are upheld (Spade, 5). The quantity of power
impact[s] how we know our selves as subjects through these systems of meaning and control the ways
we understand our own bodies, the things we believe about ourselves and our relationships with other
people and with institutions, and the ways we imagine change and transformation (Spade, 6). The
amount of power one obtains indicates to themselves, and to others, how much control and worth they
have within society. It also influences how situations are interpreted, formation of personal beliefs,

Cholera In The 18th Century
Summary The first Cholera epidemic in England appeared in October of 1831. Symptoms of Cholera
include dehydration, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Soon the disease would take over the patient s
body and kill them. The second epidemic took place in 1848 through 1849 and killed almost 70,000
people throughout England and Wales. Doctors could not figure out the source of the illness or how to
cure it. The living conditions made this illness spread like wildfire. People were living in cramped
living areas and did not have proper sewage systems. Human waste was thrown into ditches and
alleyways. When the city would flood the sewage would flow into houses, marketplaces, streets, and
eventually made its way into streams and the Thames river. Doctor

Based on the research of Justice Alito, he was appointed by former president Gorge W. Bush as one of
the Supreme Court Justices on January 31, 2006 and is currently a Republican Party federal justice.
His approaches to things are very unpredictable and distinctive from what he is viewed as. However,
his conservative standpoint is still a part of his image. This paper will include: the background of the

Comparing Princess Mononoke And Disney Movies
They say:
When I first saw Princesses Mononoke at five, I didn t understand any conflict or meaning of the film.
Only the scene where the Forest Spirit is finding his head and killing all the living things on earth
stayed in my mind. I remember laying in my bed that night after watching the film thinking, This
movie is so scary... how nice will it be if this princess is a Disney princess. I have believed for a long
time that if Princess Mononoke was produced by Disney, the film will be so much more successful.
I say
After becoming a young adult and rewatching Princess Mononoke again, my old thought of the film,
which was Princess Mononoke being produced by Disney will be more successful, has twisted. The
style of Studio Ghibli provided the movie the unique, exciting, and memorable features. To be more
specific, the fascinating and well thought storyline was the most outstanding part of the film. How
Hayao Miyazaki did not separate good and evil with a clear defined line; illustrated a deeper
environmentalist message than Disney films; created an open ending which gives the audiences more
space to imagine and contemplate, are all what made the film a big hit during the 1990s.

There are no definite evil characters in Princess Mononoke. While Lady Eboshi kills and hunts down
the animals in the forest, she also stays loyal to the Iron Town and tries to give the citizens a better
quality of life. Additionally, when Nature is fighting the humans back, they themselves got into an
internal conflict and lost their unity. This feature makes the film more convincing and relatable to
audiences. In real life, people are not always bad or good. Humans reactions depend on different
situation. Comparing Princesses Mononoke (1997) to The Jungle Book (1967) by Disney, both of
them are telling a story that happened in the woods and the conflict between human and nature,
however, The Jungle Book has a clear line between the good and bad

Men, Women and Gender Boundaries in Sports Essay
Men, Women and Gender Boundaries in Sports
Today, we are seeing many changes in regard to gender and its place in the athletic world. More than
ever, men and women are crossing gender boundaries and entering a non traditional sport for their sex.
Of course this boundary crossing is significant culturally and socially as it challenges conventional
view of male and female characteristics and roles. When altering a customary view of gender in a
society, there are both costs and benefits to that society. This paper will discuss the costs and benefits
to a traditionally male centered culture when women and men cross gender lines in sport, and provide
examples of different sports in which gender lines are being erased.

Prejudice in any form cannot afford to exist in the international community if we all hope to live
together in peace and progress. Women play an important role in this community, including the world
of sports. Females need to be taken seriously in athletics if they are to be taken seriously at all. To say
that a female cannot play sports is to imply that she is weaker than a male, and thus her worth and
credibility are tarnished. Boxing, for example, is a traditional male sport that women were not
encouraged to participate in until fairly recently. However, women such as Laila Ali and Jacqui Frazier
demonstrate that women can not only be good boxers, but champion boxers. Also, bodybuilding is a
traditional male sport in which women have been participating. Andrea Silva Izard and Laura Binetti
are two currently well known body builders. Even another male sport into which women have made
an entrance is racecar driving. Sarah Fisher and Allison Duncan are two well known drivers.
Yet, allowing women into male sports only solves half the problem of gender equality. Men must be
allowed to participate in sports traditionally seen as female orientated. Although I tried to research
men who might be competing in female sports such as field hockey and synchronized swimming, I
was only able to find information on the United States Men s

The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Surgery
Plastic Surgery has become a wide topic in the United States. Plastic surgery is also known as, the
reconstruction surgery that involves the restoration of a function to a damaged body part and the
rebuilding of normal physical contours when parts of the body such as the nose, jaw, ears, or fingers
are missing or disfigured. Throughout the years, plastic surgery has become a well known surgery. The
overall percentage on plastic surgery dropped by forty percent for the first time in a decade, total
cosmetic procedures for women and men dropped below thirty one thousand that was the lowest since
the year od 2006. I believe that plastic surgery has very many cons towards it. There are many
statistics that prove that plastic surgery can be a harmful idea to the body. However, there is also many
positive thoughts when looking at the overall picture with plastic surgery. According to the article
Plastic Surgery pit is often done for purely cosmetic reasons, to remove blemished, make unusual
contours more normal, or improve self esteem. Plastic surgery has caused many people to reach the
cancer stage, or even pass away from coming in contact with plastic surgery. While many feels that
plastic surgery has many benefits, it actually has many health risks.

Memories And Surmoring In Margaret Atwood s Surfacing
In Margaret Atwood s novel Surfacing, memories and forgetting are large themes, which show that
memories are what truly define a person and are exceedingly important to the healing process. One
way in which memories are prevalent throughout the novel is in the narrator s flashbacks to her
supposed husband. These flashbacks show how the narrator has created fabricated memories, and she
experiences suffering and frustration from this, showing how the narrator does not feel whole as a
person without the true memories of her past. When the narrator finally does remember all that has
happened to her, she realizes that she needs to deal with these memories in order to achieve healing.
In the beginning of Surfacing, the narrator remembers very few actual true memories, and has created
an almost completely fabricated story of her past in order to deal with what really happened. She is
running from her past in the form of fabricated memories. However, she is clearly having immense
distress about this, and the tone in the beginning of the novel is one of dread and confusion, aligning
with how she doesn t know the truth of her past at this time but has an inkling that something is
wrong. One passage that showcases these things is near the beginning of the novel, when the Narrator,
Anna, David, and Joe are going into the woods to look for the Narrator s father. We begin to climb and
my husband catches up with me again, making one of the brief appearances, framed memories he

Character Analysis Of Robinson Crusoe
I take notice of here, those discontented people, who cannot enjoy comfortably what God has given
them; because they see and covet something that He has not give them. Robinson Crusoe (Defoe 95).
In the book, Robinson Crusoe the main character Robinson Crusoe was a man who made many
choices, some of which were made selfishly, and without the guidance of God or other influential
people of whom he should have listened to. Throughout his life Crusoe learned many things through
experience. His relationship with God as well as his character improved along his journey and
strengthened when he allowed them to. Crusoe s well aspired dream of becoming a sailor affected his
relationship with God and ultimately began his journey of growth. At age 19, Robinson Crusoe
decided he was not going to go on to work in law, as his father had planned for him, but that he was
going to be a sailor. His father attempted to convince Crusoe of his disapproval and to prevent him
from becoming a sailor. Crusoe however decided against what his father had said and left home even
though he was told not to. In the book he says, I consulted neither my mother or father any more, nor
so much as sent them word of it; but leaving them to hear of it as they might, without asking God s
blessing, or my father s, without any consideration of circumstances or consequences, and in an ill
hour, God knows, on the first of September 1651I went on board a ship bound for London. (Defoe 4).
In his time as a sailor he was a part of 4 separate voyages, all of which resulted in narrow escapes of
death for Crusoe, but despite the fact that God was obviously trying to give signs to him of why he
should not have been a sailor, Crusoe blames bad luck and fate for his troubles, and continues to
disobey his parents, and God. At this point of his life, Crusoe was a selfish man who thought of what
was best for himself, and ignored others opinions, and did not seek God s help in his times of need. A
little later in life, with his bad luck along his journeys continuing, Crusoe survives a shipwreck on his
way to Guinea, in which all of his fellow sailors are killed. He survived by the grace of God and
somehow swam his way to a deserted island. Although just

The Human Body In Greek Art
Almost seven feet tall, a life like sculpture stands, broad and muscular, in the middle of the National
Archeological Museum, Naples, Italy. Made of bronze yet so full of life, the Spear Bearer is one of
many ancient Greek sculptures surviving, as good as new, till this day. On the other side of the world
stands the New York Kouros at the Metropolitan Museum, rigid and awkward, and all together
unrealistic. However, Greek art, especially Greek sculpture and vase painting has not always portrayed
the human body in such a perfect and idealistic way. Up until 500 BCE, Greek sculpture and statuary
specifically were completely different to what is seen and defined as Greek sculpture today while
Greek vase painting and other representations of the human body maintained their less realistic style.
The Greeks not only developed but also improved their artwork of the human figure throughout Early
Greece only to present a better and more idealistic image of sculpture using naturalism and realism
towards the Classical period. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fast Food Franchising Company And Corporation
McDonald s is a very well known fast food franchising company and corporation. The company was
first established in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald. Surprisingly the restaurant was
not named McDonalds from the beginning, it was actually named McDonald s Bar B Q and it held
many menu items, but mostly barbecue. After eight years of selling their menu, the brothers noticed
hamburgers were their bestselling item. It was at that time, in 1948, that the McDonald brothers closed
down their small car hop to open a burger stand with a streamlined system. They renamed their burger
stand McDonalds and that became the start of its journey to become the biggest global fast food chain.

McDonald s corporate office and global headquarters is located in Oak Brook, Illinois. The company
has taken the title of the world s largest fast food chain and has the profits that show it. In 2012 alone
the fast food industry had total revenue of 190.1 billion dollars. In the same year McDonald s had total

restaurants would be built on. It was only after Harry J Sonneborn was hired and approached to Kroc

analyzes Dracula and notices one very strange feature, his mouth is thick and white; they cover sharp
white teeth, which stick out over his lip. What Jonathan does not know is that those teeth are canine
teeth only found in animals. There are exceptions, for instance, vampires have these teeth so they can
puncture the human s carotid vessel in their neck and suck their blood. The first time that Jonathan
sees Dracula s cannibal teeth grow is when Harker starts shaving. He accidentally cuts himself and
Dracula leaps for his throat so he can suck his blood. Harker touches his crucifix and Dracula s
demonic fury vanishes. The strangest event that Harker notices in Dracula s castle is Dracula emerge
from his room on the floor below, slither out, head downward, in lizard fashion, with his cloak spread
out around him like great wings (Dracula, 179). This shows that Dracula is not a person. He is a
presence, an absence that requires concealing (Wolf, 368). This tells Harker that something is very
wrong with this man. He recalls how the peasants behaved

Pumpkin Knob Research Paper
If you have ever slept on an island you will never be quite the same (Unknown). I have slept on an
island and it truly has changed who I am today. This little island is called Pumpkin Knob and sits in
Casco Bay, Maine. It is a place that has inspired and moved me to see life in a different perspective. It
all started back when I was three months old, on July fourth weekend, and ever since then my family
and I have traveled the distance to stay on our little island of Pumpkin Knob. Till this day I do not
know why this place has changed me so, maybe its that every year the island has changed itself. The

Everyone is either watching kids play basketball on the old wooden framed basketball hoop or

along with a red tin roof, which is where I like to call my second home. As dinner comes to an end so
does the daylight. As I walk out of Toad Hall a dark haze has consumed the island and I am excited by

Disadvantages Of Unanimous Verdicts
Unanimous Verdicts: The Advantages and Disadvantages In recent history there has been noticeable
reform to the way juries operate in the United States, and particularly in the need for unanimity to
arrive at a verdict. In 1972, there were two notable cases that arrived in Supreme Court concerning the
effectiveness of unanimity and whether the lack of violated the rights of defendants. The final
decisions on these cases have left room for debate across the nation on whether unanimity is indeed a
necessity to reach a verdict of quality, or if it was a goal. There are advantages and disadvantages to
having unanimity a legal requirement, just as with if we did away with it, and there are still instances
where the Supreme Court requires it, and should continue to do so. In an article written for the journal
Judicature two professors of law were assigned to address the advantages and disadvantages of twelve
person juries as well as the requirement of unanimous verdicts. Stephan Landsman wrote in support of
unanimous verdicts and refers to a study that states when the requirement of unanimity is in place, that
the jurors viewed evidence more carefully as opposed to when unanimity is not a necessity the juries
conclude when the quota is reached and disregard any dissenting opinion (Landsman McCord, 2005,
p. 302). Landsman continues with the argument that despite the fear of hung juries, when unanimity
does cause a deadlock, it is due to legitimate issues found by a juror about

Cyrano De Bergerac Character Analysis
In the play, Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostant, there are many characters in the book; but our
focus is on Cyrano de Bergerac. His admirability lies in his willingness to please others. It may be
because he is very self conscious, so he thinks that no one will ever like let alone love him. In the play,
Cyrano is in love with his cousin, Roxane. But Roxane is in love with Christian, and Christian
Roxane. Cyrano ends up setting Christian up with Roxane, while Cyrano writes all the romantic lines
for Christian to woo Roxane (Christian is terrible at love poems). Christian gets married to Roxane
right before the men have to leave for war. Days later, Roxane comes to the war camp, and the same
day Christian finds out that Cyrano also loves Roxane.

Greed And Regret In W. Jacobs The Monkey s Paw
W. W. Jacobs The Monkey s Paw contains many themes throughout its story; Greed and Regret being
the most critical and strong, the author writes about these polarising themes to connect many others.
You will notice that the characters Mr White , Herbert White and Major Morris are the best characters
to show the theme of Greed as I will explain. The author begins with telling about a game of chess
with Mr White and his son, a game within which he possesses ideas involving radical change ; Mr
White plays in a cocky way by putting his king into such sharp and unnecessary perils , and notices
his evident defeat. By Mr White underestimating and disrespecting his young son, he shows his greed
at play on the table of chess. When Major Morris enters the scene, the conversation in the room shifts

Major Morris, at first hesitant to speak about the matter, is broken by his greed to entertain the White
family and tells them about his experience with the Monkey s Paw . Major Morris later casts the
Monkey s Paw into the fire hoping to protect from its evils, but Mr White does not realise the true
results of the wishes and takes the paw for himself. I find out later about what grievances the Monkey
s Paw brings to the family thus being the result of Major Morris greed. In the case of Herbert White,
he shows his greed through winning his way to being the man of the house instead of his dad. When
he asks his father to wish for being an emperor so he can t be henpecked or when he asks If you only
cleared the house, you d be quite happy, wouldn t you? Herbert is attacking his father s weak points,
showing a sign of greed for status in the house and above his father. Concluding, W. W. Jacobs has the
theme of Greed written in this short story similar to the roots of a tree, bringing all other themes into
fruition. Herbert is transitioned into the theme of Family , Mr White experiences the theme of Failure

Persuasive Essay On Legalizing Abortion
Abortion: the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by
the death of the embryo or fetus. Throughout our lives we are constantly taking other people s
opinions into consideration. We care more about what people think of us, rather than how we think of
ourselves. In reality, the only opinion that matters is your own. Abortion has been legal since 1973.
People have been arguing whether it should be legal or illegal ever since. Abortion should stay
legalized for various reasons. A woman has rights, and these rights include what she gets to do with
her body. The U.S. Supreme Court decided in favor of abortion rights during the case of Roe v. Wade
on January 22, 1973. They stated that This right of privacy... is broad enough to encompass a woman s
decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. People argue that a baby is capable of feeling pain
when it is killed. This is completely false. A developing fetus s brain starts to structure between the 7th
and 8th months of gestation and during this time they start to perceive pain. This is far past the time
when an abortion is carried out. So technically, the baby can t feel anything at the time of the ... Show

Poverty And Poverty
The process of globalization has created a borderless world through the free flow of knowledge and
materials and mobility of people and making it become a global village (Andleeb, 2014). According to
Rouse (n.d.), he mentioned that globalization is the process in which people, ideas, and goods spread
throughout the world, spurring more interaction and integration between the world s cultures,
governments, and economics. However, the world virtually looks like the broken mirror, between rich

New Zealand children are living in poverty. It means one of five kids in New Zealand lives in poverty,

could not have equal rights to receive health care or good standard living in the society, such as

Political Beliefs Of Shia And Sunnis
Sunni and Shia are part of the 1.6 billion Muslims followers across the world. After all, Shia are a
minority group that have been recently attacked by Sunnis. Shias are being targeted and killed for their
beliefs. Yet, Sunni and Shia have many similar beliefs and customs, but their main difference is based
on who should be the political figure. When the Sunni and Shia chose different political figures, they
also came upon different ideology. Soon as the prophet Muhammad died in the seventh century, he did
not designate a political ruler after his death. Thus, the country was left without an appointed figure
leaving the Muslim community without a caliphate. Consequently, the people had to decide who was
going to be appointed as the leader of the Muslim community. The Sunni believed that Abu Bakr
should be the leader and was given the popularity of the vote, but Shia believed that the family of the
prophet should be the leader. However, Shia argued that only Ali was qualified to uphold the spiritual
values that underpinned the whole future direction of Islam. (Rogerson 5) The disagreement of who
should be the leader grew to the establishment of Shia, who supported Ali. Shia believed that Ali
should have been the first caliph instead of Abu Bakr being the first. Shia came to the conclusion that
Sunni falsified hadith and Abu angered Fatima, in which Fatima was part of Muhammad causing Shia
to believe that he does not have right to become first caliph. As a result, that left

Joseph McCarthy During the late 1940s and early 1950s, the idea of communist subversion was
becoming frighteningly real. These fears came to define and, in some cases, corrode the era s political

Joseph P. McCarthy of Wisconsin. McCarthy spent almost five years trying in vain to expose
communists and other left wing loyalty risks in the U.S. government. In February 1950, appearing at
the Ohio County Women s Republican Club in Wheeling, West Virginia, McCarthy gave a speech that

his second term as senator, McCarthy was put in charge of the Committee on Government Operations,

many came to perceive as a blatant violation of their civil rights. Despite a lack of any proof of

The Weaknesses Of The Constitution
here were many ways that the Constitution helped to change the weaknesses of the United States. It
helps by making the laws easier to pass and more fair, along with different documents. The Articles of
Confederation were obviously a flawed document if they needed to be changed into the Constitution,
thus the Constitution is helping. The first way that the Constitution helped with the weaknesses of the
United States were the different ways it made passing laws more fair. When amending a document the
Articles of Confederation needed 13 out of 13 people to approve of the document. The Constitution
provided a more reasonable way by having ⅔ of both houses and ¾ of the state legislature. This is a
better method because not 100% of people are going to agree on everything. The same type of thing
worked when passing laws. 9/13 people needed to approve in the Articles of Confederation while it s
now 50% +1 of both houses plus the signature of the President. This allows for things to be more fair
and it makes sure everyone in power somewhat agrees on what is going on and not just a couple of
people are deciding on what the citizens new laws will be. The Constitution is a document that may
make people feel equal and not like they re below some one else. One example of this is when
Frederick Douglass stated that if you, abolish slavery tomorrow, and not a single sentence or syllable
of the Constitution need to be altered. This is saying that the Constitution is a good document

Common Category Of Cardiac Arrhythmias
Introduction
Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial Fibrillation (AF) known to be the common category of cardiac arrhythmias. It is mainly due to
the rate or rhythm abnormalities of the heart and is a type of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT).
Rapid and irregular heart beating is a characteristic sign of atrial fibrillation. It is of significance since
it a high risk of leading to thromboembolic events, heart failure and mortality (1).
The prevalence of atrial fibrillation globally has increased significantly to about 2 3% in the
population. Since the risk of atrial fibrillation increases significantly with age, due to multiple co
morbidities, the UK s increasing elderly population has a marked increase in incidences of atrial
fibrillation (2).
Complications
Patients with on going atrial fibrillation have been shown to have an increased risk of thromboembolic
events. The clots that can be formed in the heart during atrial fibrillation can easily travel and obstruct
blood vessels, leading to tissue ischemia, thus causing severe organ damage such as a Pulmonary
Embolus or stoke. It is highly recommend that patients with atrial fibrillation undergo anticoagulation
therapy with drugs that help thin the blood such as Warfarin to help prevent clot formation. These
drugs come with serious side effects such bleeding in the brain that can lead to complications or even
death.
Treatments methods
Since 1954 Warfarin, a vitamin K antagonist (VKAs) has been the Gold standard anticoagulant

Women And Women Of The Chesapeake Area During The...
As Martha Ballard writes in her diary, A womans work is never Done as the Song says and Happy is
shee [sp] whose strength holds out to the end of the rais [race]. Women, like Ballard, contributed
useful and skilled labor, though it was often derided, mocked, or overlooked. However, the work of
women varied greatly, due to location, social class, race, time period, and more. This essay will focus
on two very different groups of women, early female settlers of the Chesapeake area during the
seventeenth century and the Native American women of the Iroquois Confederacy, spread across
northeastern New York and Ontario during the same time period. Through the analysis, the necessity
of the study of women s work will become evident; it aids historians in understanding women s past:
including gender perceptions, the myriad of experiences faced by different women, and the changes
over that occurred over time.
Though traditional history books paint the workers in the United States as all male, the women were
very much a part of the labor force. However, the way in which labor affected gender roles very much
differed. In some examples, work broke down gender roles. In the rice fields, both male and female
African slaves were forced to work side by side. This is interesting because in rice producing countries
of Africa, women were the sole producers of rice. On the other hand, the British had seen agriculture
as a man s work, and women typically only worked in the fields during

Realism And The Remystification Of Narrative By Wendy B....
Magical realism is a form of literary expression traditionally associated with Latin American literature
and characterized by a merging of fantastical or mythical elements with realistic fiction, so that it
presents a reality in which the mundane is lent a dimension of magic and the unusual is normalized.
Even this definition of magical realism proves slippery. Whether it can be attributed to literature as a
genre or a series of stylistic choices and trademark inclusions has been a great source of debate.
Ultimately, while a strict definition of what magical realism really is continues to be elusive, it does
have a set of identifiable qualities. In her book, Ordinary Enchantments: Magical Realism and the
Remystification of Narrative, writer Wendy B. Faris breaks down the tropes of magical realism into
five parts:
First, the text contains an irreducible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These elements are what create the effect of the mythical without the story being an outright fantasy.
Many literary scholars are of the belief that magical realism rose to popularity in Latin America as a
response to postcolonialism[1]. Postcolonial literature is comprised of the literary canon that addresses
the problems and consequences of decolonization through the lens of a colonizer/colonized
experience. As former colonies, including those of Latin America, gained independence from
European powers, it became necessary for the citizens of these territories to examine both their culture
and their relation to the world.
The era of colonialism under the European empire was one of oppression and stealth. The colonization
of Latin American occurred between the 16th and 18th centuries, ending in the 19th century as nearly
all colonies gained independence between 1808 and

Furthermore, there are also other notable weaknesses applicable to L Oreal. Another weakness point is
the existence of false claims in advertising. In May of 2007, L Oreal was ordered by the Therapeutic

products (Anti Aging Wrinkle Creams are a Rip Off).
Opportunities One of the areas of opportunity for L Oreal is its increased supply of ecologically and
environmentally friendly ingredients. L Oreal can increase their supply of ecologically and
environmentally friendly ingredients by furthering their Sustainability Assessment Framework and
working even more closely with current and new suppliers to address predetermined concerns (L
Oreal Corporation, n.d.). Another point of opportunity for the company is to increase its sales of its
Active Cosmetics product line. For 2006 alone, The Active Cosmetics product line of L Oreal made up
7.5% in total revenue for the corporation. L Oreal has recognized the growth in demand for active
cosmetics, that is why the corporation has been acquiring companies in the active cosmetics line. By
increasing their marketing and product line up for active cosmetics, L Oreal can reach a wider range of
consumers (L Oreal Corporation, n.d.). A third area of opportunity for L Oreal is that it could work on
purchasing of more successful cosmetics companies.

called IEEE 802 standards. Consequently, these standards help the industry by providing advantages
such as low product cost, interoperability, and easy to manage standards, divided into many parts.

The Science Of Human Cloning
The science of human cloning is one of the most fascinating entities of the 21st century biology. The
announcement of a cloned sheep ignited an international debate in the late 1990s; two and half
decades later, the debate is still very much alive (Li 1 2). The researchers at the Roslin Institute,
Scotland, announced that they had fruitfully cloned an adult mammal (Caplan 1 3). The procedure
used in cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. It involves the transfer of the genetic code from
the cell of an adult organism into an enucleated organism egg. Over the years, the science of cloning
has found widespread application including human experiments. Ethicists, theologians, scientists,
physicians, legislators, and concerned citizens have intensely debated the idea cloning from
multivariate viewpoints. The National Bioethics Advisory Commission has reviewed with respect to
its implications. It has come up with findings that of interest in this essay, top most being the increased
potential of misuse of cloning by rogue scientists.
A huge number of scientists are not necessarily interested in producing human clones; their primary
goal is to use some exceedingly young embryos to obtain cloned human cells capable of curing
diseases. There is no doubt that cloning provides an array medical possibilities, including
transplanting of vital organs damaged during an accident. Another possible scenario would be the
supposition that a person would become sick with a disease that

Hahn s founding of nuclear fission had created a big change to the world both during and after the

depending on the type of weapon. The largest source of fission products is from nuclear reactor. Some
fission products are also used in industrial inventions and innovations. For example, some ion can
react with steel surfaces to form a corrosion resistant layer. In this way, it renders the steel surface

only survive about 3 weeks without eating. Many animals don t receive backlash for the food they eat
because, even us, human beings understand that it s necessary to obtain proteins. However, the Big,
Bad Wolf will always be unfairly criticized for eating pigs. Even though society views the wolf as
malicious, that is very far from the truth as proven in sources B, C, and H because the wolf deserves to
eat food as much as the pigs do. You re obliged to feed yourself as much as any person or animal is.
Food is such an essential item you could say that everyone deserves to eat. However, many tried to
verbally attack the wolf in his decision of eating the pigs. Nevertheless, you re right, nobody should
take accountability because wolves [decide to] eat cute animals (Source B). I m sure, If cheeseburgers
were cute, folks would probably think you were Big and Bad (Source B). When interpreted, the
comparison seems frugal, but in the larger picture it makes sense. Primarily because wolves, like ...

She s supposed to nurture her child, teach them right from wrong, and basically give them everything
they need to succeed. An infant piglet s life is confused and dangerous, and mom is usually to blame
(Source H). Many sows give birth to pigs in excess (Source H). Some are even trampled and killed
before they enter infantry. This quote expresses how unconcerned the piglet s mom is pertaining to her
children. They have to live through their life figuring out the differences between the rights and wrong
themselves. They have to somehow enter their life as a child but leave as an adult. They have to be
accountable for their own actions no matter how bad it is. This proposition is so absurd because it s as

Chesapeak Bay and Jamestown
It is evident that every culture is affected by the environment in which said culture evolves. Whether
these effects can be observed in the gods differing societies worship, or by the way in which resources
are accumulated, the reasons are all the same. How each society and culture interacts with its
environment dictates its development and growth. There is no more evident an example of this than
the Chesapeake Bay area, pre, mid, and post colonization, using the colony of Jamestown as an model
for contact interactions between two distinct cultures, and how these relations can be dictated by the
environment. In the period termed pre contact the indigenous peoples living in the Chesapeake Bay
region were known collectively as the Powhatan people. This name was used for the collective of the
Algonquian speaking tribes in the Chesapeake Bay and, during the time of interest, was led by Chief
Powhatan, who took his tribe name as his ruling name. Chief Powhatan inherited the rule of six tribes
when he became chief, as well as having accumulated a multitude of tribes during his reign to create
the Powhatan confederacy. Within this confederacy, each distinct tribe was responsible for providing
military support when requested, as well as were required to provide taxes in the form of pelts, food,
copper and pearls. Notably, at no point was gold objectively mined by the Powhatan people. These
people left no written records and thus the information available in modern times about the

  • 2. Summary Of Alison Ayers Furthermore, root causes of conflict on the continent are often associated with internal issues or an African problem . Alison Ayers discusses the false perception of civil war and failed states that have been created and implemented by the West (Ayers 2012). She disputes that civil war is internally instigated and only portrayed this way due to western representations of Africa through media. Ayers states that these efforts are made by hegemonic powers and are ideologically and politically convenient (Ayers 2012, 261). Her implications here suggest that these ideological subjugations render African regions vulnerable for the use of exploitation and continuous dependency on external powers. This becomes the norm of African perception ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One day in class there was a teacher that was bullied by a taller student. The teacher shouted, I M GOING TO CALL YOUR MOTHER! Later on in that situation, the taller student(ERIK) punched the teacher and laughed, TRY TO THREATEN ME! But luckily Zofia split them apart by talking, This is enough of you guys, please sit down Erik I will call your mother, and whispered to the teacher, are you ok? • 4. Concert Review I attended this concert at CU Denver s King Center, Concert Hall. Although the architectural design and surrounding did not attest to much artistic creativity, the actual concert was better than my expectations. I did have lower expectations because it was presented by students instead of professional musicians or dancers as in my last concert review. The ensemble, a collaborative outcome from MSU Denver and other dance/cultural music groups from denver, was actually a mix of African and Indian/East Asian music and dance. The two teams alternated between each other giving the audience a great deal of contrast of movement and sound. My favorite were the second and fifth performances, African and Indian respectively. The second performance by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They presented a story of a goddess teasing a boy with a magical ball, then throwing it into a pond where a monster is asleep. The boy then awakens this monster trying to reach the ball. The story is meant to encourage people to face their fears and fight for what they want. I liked how they used the same movements when they were describing the story before starting their performance which they later used during the dance. For example, one of the dancers showed the same throwing movement which she later used in the performance. The dance was accompanied by an Indian chant like song over the speakers. It had the same simplistic nature as the African music discussed above which I again noticed that it put the focus on the dancers. They music and movement was much slower and calmer than the Africans, which makes sense when seen in light of the Eastern Asian spiritual philosophy of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Phipps was an African American, who was a physician and was more than able to support his family of four rather easily. Her mother Katy Florence Phipps, was a homemaker who was very involved in her husband s medical practice. Mamie had explained that being an African American in the early 1930 s and living in the South was far from easy, even for the middle class family that she came from. My father was a well respected black person, and it was a phenomenon that is not really unusual in the South, that even in the highly segregated situations, you will have a few blacks that are ... It was Kenneth who after a while finally convinced Mamie that she should pursue psychology because unlike mathematics and the physics Mamie was studying a career in psychology seemed as if it would be more promising when it came to employment opportunities, and it would also allow for her to explore the interests she had in children s development: I d always had an interest in children. Always, from the time I was very small. I d always thought I wanted to work with children, and psychology seemed a good field. In 1934, Mamie Clark graduated magna cum laude from Howard University, Mamie then immediately enrolled in the psychology graduate program. In 1939 Mamie was studying African American children that were in segregated nursery schools as a topic for her project. Her master s thesis was, The Development of Consciousness of Self in Negro Pre School Children, and that started the beginning of a line of research that later became historic when it was used to help make racial segregation unconstitutional in American public schools. Her thesis concluded that the children became aware of their blackness early on in their childhood. She used pictures of both white and black boys with numerous animals and a clown. She concluded that the children did not self identify with the different images, and it was this conclusion that later became the foundation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

China s one child policy was established by Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping in 1979 to limit China s population growth. The policy lets couples have only one child. If they have another child the mother is pressured to abort the pregnancy. The one child policy has brought many disasters to china since the one child policy was established. So when 10 people from the local office showed up one morning in October, she slipped through a gap in the concrete wall around the house and bolted like a sprinter toward the main road. She was trying to hide her pregnancy from the government. They took my daughter in law at 9 a.m. By 5 p.m., she was dead, Gao said. Because of the one child policy Mao had to abort her child even though she was two months away from labor. In 2009, a woman in Liaocheng, also in Shandong province, died after being forced to get an abortion a week before her due date. They made a women abort a full grown baby; it wasn t even a fetus because it was fully developed baby. By the midpoint of the century, more than a quarter of the Chinese population will be over 65. By 2050, about 25% or more will be over 65 years old. What this means is, that most Chinese citizens don t have sibling, each child will likely have to care for their two parents and every possibly their four grandparents (hence the 4 2 1 problem. The way that the 4 2 1 problem works is that the one child has to take care of his parents and if his grandparents are still there they have to take care of them two. Which ... Conductor sizes range from 12 mm2 (#6 American wire gauge) to 750 mm2 (1,590,000 circular mils area), with varying resistance and current carrying capacity. Thicker wires would lead to a relatively small increase in capacity due to the skin effect, that causes most of the current to flow close to the surface of the wire. • 8. An Analysis Of Dean Spade s Normal Life The Western thought functions through strongly rooted beliefs that have been prevalent for so long, that the accuracy goes unquestioned. But just because it has gone on for so long, does not mean it is the most efficient way of processing the world. The basis of biological determinism is used to interpret and understand members of society, using predetermined categorizes to comprehend identity. Furthermore, it is important to realize that using such a methodology for judgment leads to perceiving race, gender, sexuality, and other identity markers in such a way that is exclusive and unjust. Viewing society in regard to biology has various ramifications that impact the lives of every individual. By functioning through biological determinism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the book Normal Life, Dean Spade explains that the dispersion of power helps the creation of norms that distribute vulnerability and security (4). This illustrates that not only does biology determine who receives power and who doesn t, it also influences the norms that society upholds. Through this perspective, biology determines how much a person is worth and predicts their future. For those who do not have the ideal biology, they are left powerless and stranded in their fixed conditions. Furthermore, those who are defined to be powerful must be protected from those others (Spade, 5). This operation of norms is used to justify the exclusion of powerless populations from programs that distribute wealth and life chances and attempts to validate the targeting of these same populations for imprisonment and violence (Spade, 5). In reality, biology destines some groups to flourish, to acquire enhanced opportunities, and to be treated in a way that benefits their success. At the cost of this group, comes the groups that are being held back and facing an inevitable doomed future; the norms produce security for some population and vulnerability for others (Spade, 5). Through dividing power based on individuals biology, the sexist and racist mindsets are reinforced and the conditions of violence, exploitation, and poverty are upheld (Spade, 5). The quantity of power impact[s] how we know our selves as subjects through these systems of meaning and control the ways we understand our own bodies, the things we believe about ourselves and our relationships with other people and with institutions, and the ways we imagine change and transformation (Spade, 6). The amount of power one obtains indicates to themselves, and to others, how much control and worth they have within society. Women play an important role in this community, including the world of sports. Females need to be taken seriously in athletics if they are to be taken seriously at all. To say that a female cannot play sports is to imply that she is weaker than a male, and thus her worth and credibility are tarnished. Boxing, for example, is a traditional male sport that women were not encouraged to participate in until fairly recently. Memories And Surmoring In Margaret Atwood s Surfacing In Margaret Atwood s novel Surfacing, memories and forgetting are large themes, which show that memories are what truly define a person and are exceedingly important to the healing process. One way in which memories are prevalent throughout the novel is in the narrator s flashbacks to her supposed husband. These flashbacks show how the narrator has created fabricated memories, and she experiences suffering and frustration from this, showing how the narrator does not feel whole as a person without the true memories of her past. When the narrator finally does remember all that has happened to her, she realizes that she needs to deal with these memories in order to achieve healing. In the beginning of Surfacing, the narrator remembers very few actual true memories, and has created an almost completely fabricated story of her past in order to deal with what really happened. She is running from her past in the form of fabricated memories. However, she is clearly having immense distress about this, and the tone in the beginning of the novel is one of dread and confusion, aligning with how she doesn t know the truth of her past at this time but has an inkling that something is wrong. One passage that showcases these things is near the beginning of the novel, when the Narrator, Anna, David, and Joe are going into the woods to look for the Narrator s father. • 16. Character Analysis Of Robinson Crusoe I take notice of here, those discontented people, who cannot enjoy comfortably what God has given them; because they see and covet something that He has not give them. Robinson Crusoe (Defoe 95). In the book, Robinson Crusoe the main character Robinson Crusoe was a man who made many choices, some of which were made selfishly, and without the guidance of God or other influential people of whom he should have listened to. Throughout his life Crusoe learned many things through experience. His relationship with God as well as his character improved along his journey and strengthened when he allowed them to. Crusoe s well aspired dream of becoming a sailor affected his relationship with God and ultimately began his journey of growth. At age 19, Robinson Crusoe decided he was not going to go on to work in law, as his father had planned for him, but that he was going to be a sailor. His father attempted to convince Crusoe of his disapproval and to prevent him from becoming a sailor. Crusoe however decided against what his father had said and left home even though he was told not to. In the book he says, I consulted neither my mother or father any more, nor so much as sent them word of it; but leaving them to hear of it as they might, without asking God s blessing, or my father s, without any consideration of circumstances or consequences, and in an ill hour, God knows, on the first of September 1651I went on board a ship bound for London. (Defoe 4). In his time as a sailor he was a part of 4 separate voyages, all of which resulted in narrow escapes of death for Crusoe, but despite the fact that God was obviously trying to give signs to him of why he should not have been a sailor, Crusoe blames bad luck and fate for his troubles, and continues to disobey his parents, and God. At this point of his life, Crusoe was a selfish man who thought of what was best for himself, and ignored others opinions, and did not seek God s help in his times of need. A little later in life, with his bad luck along his journeys continuing, Crusoe survives a shipwreck on his way to Guinea, in which all of his fellow sailors are killed. • 22. Disadvantages Of Unanimous Verdicts Unanimous Verdicts: The Advantages and Disadvantages In recent history there has been noticeable reform to the way juries operate in the United States, and particularly in the need for unanimity to arrive at a verdict. In 1972, there were two notable cases that arrived in Supreme Court concerning the effectiveness of unanimity and whether the lack of violated the rights of defendants. The final decisions on these cases have left room for debate across the nation on whether unanimity is indeed a necessity to reach a verdict of quality, or if it was a goal. There are advantages and disadvantages to having unanimity a legal requirement, just as with if we did away with it, and there are still instances where the Supreme Court requires it, and should continue to do so. In an article written for the journal Judicature two professors of law were assigned to address the advantages and disadvantages of twelve person juries as well as the requirement of unanimous verdicts. Stephan Landsman wrote in support of unanimous verdicts and refers to a study that states when the requirement of unanimity is in place, that the jurors viewed evidence more carefully as opposed to when unanimity is not a necessity the juries conclude when the quota is reached and disregard any dissenting opinion (Landsman McCord, 2005, p. 302). However, the world virtually looks like the broken mirror, between rich and poor, powerful and powerless, strong and weak. This situation has affected many different parts of the society, such as education, health, finance and economy. And today it has already become the different picture as we have imagined. • 27. Political Beliefs Of Shia And Sunnis Sunni and Shia are part of the 1.6 billion Muslims followers across the world. After all, Shia are a minority group that have been recently attacked by Sunnis. Shias are being targeted and killed for their beliefs. Yet, Sunni and Shia have many similar beliefs and customs, but their main difference is based on who should be the political figure. When the Sunni and Shia chose different political figures, they also came upon different ideology. Soon as the prophet Muhammad died in the seventh century, he did not designate a political ruler after his death. Thus, the country was left without an appointed figure leaving the Muslim community without a caliphate. Consequently, the people had to decide who was going to be appointed as the leader of the Muslim community. The Sunni believed that Abu Bakr should be the leader and was given the popularity of the vote, but Shia believed that the family of the prophet should be the leader. However, Shia argued that only Ali was qualified to uphold the spiritual values that underpinned the whole future direction of Islam. (Rogerson 5) The disagreement of who should be the leader grew to the establishment of Shia, who supported Ali. Shia believed that Ali should have been the first caliph instead of Abu Bakr being the first. Shia came to the conclusion that Sunni falsified hadith and Abu angered Fatima, in which Fatima was part of Muhammad causing Shia to believe that he does not have right to become first caliph. McCarthy of Wisconsin. McCarthy spent almost five years trying in vain to expose communists and other left wing loyalty risks in the U.S. government. In February 1950, appearing at the Ohio County Women s Republican Club in Wheeling, West Virginia, McCarthy gave a speech that boosted him into the national spotlight. It helps by making the laws easier to pass and more fair, along with different documents. The Articles of Confederation were obviously a flawed document if they needed to be changed into the Constitution, thus the Constitution is helping. The first way that the Constitution helped with the weaknesses of the United States were the different ways it made passing laws more fair. When amending a document the Articles of Confederation needed 13 out of 13 people to approve of the document. The Constitution provided a more reasonable way by having â…” of both houses and ¾ of the state legislature. This is a better method because not 100% of people are going to agree on everything. The same type of thing worked when passing laws. 9/13 people needed to approve in the Articles of Confederation while it s now 50% +1 of both houses plus the signature of the President. This allows for things to be more fair and it makes sure everyone in power somewhat agrees on what is going on and not just a couple of people are deciding on what the citizens new laws will be. The Constitution is a document that may make people feel equal and not like they re below some one else. One example of this is when Frederick Douglass stated that if you, abolish slavery tomorrow, and not a single sentence or syllable of the Constitution need to be altered. • 30. Common Category Of Cardiac Arrhythmias Introduction Atrial Fibrillation Atrial Fibrillation (AF) known to be the common category of cardiac arrhythmias. It is mainly due to the rate or rhythm abnormalities of the heart and is a type of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). Rapid and irregular heart beating is a characteristic sign of atrial fibrillation. It is of significance since it a high risk of leading to thromboembolic events, heart failure and mortality (1). The prevalence of atrial fibrillation globally has increased significantly to about 2 3% in the population. Since the risk of atrial fibrillation increases significantly with age, due to multiple co morbidities, the UK s increasing elderly population has a marked increase in incidences of atrial fibrillation (2). Complications Patients with on going atrial fibrillation have been shown to have an increased risk of thromboembolic events. The clots that can be formed in the heart during atrial fibrillation can easily travel and obstruct blood vessels, leading to tissue ischemia, thus causing severe organ damage such as a Pulmonary Embolus or stoke. It is highly recommend that patients with atrial fibrillation undergo anticoagulation therapy with drugs that help thin the blood such as Warfarin to help prevent clot formation. These drugs come with serious side effects such bleeding in the brain that can lead to complications or even death. As Martha Ballard writes in her diary, A womans work is never Done as the Song says and Happy is shee [sp] whose strength holds out to the end of the rais [race]. Women, like Ballard, contributed useful and skilled labor, though it was often derided, mocked, or overlooked. However, the work of women varied greatly, due to location, social class, race, time period, and more. This essay will focus on two very different groups of women, early female settlers of the Chesapeake area during the seventeenth century and the Native American women of the Iroquois Confederacy, spread across northeastern New York and Ontario during the same time period. Through the analysis, the necessity of the study of women s work will become evident; it aids historians in understanding women s past: including gender perceptions, the myriad of experiences faced by different women, and the changes over that occurred over time. Though traditional history books paint the workers in the United States as all male, the women were very much a part of the labor force. However, the way in which labor affected gender roles very much differed. In some examples, work broke down gender roles. In the rice fields, both male and female African slaves were forced to work side by side. This is interesting because in rice producing countries of Africa, women were the sole producers of rice. On the other hand, the British had seen agriculture as a man s work, and women typically only worked in the fields during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Realism And The Remystification Of Narrative By Wendy B.... Magical realism is a form of literary expression traditionally associated with Latin American literature and characterized by a merging of fantastical or mythical elements with realistic fiction, so that it presents a reality in which the mundane is lent a dimension of magic and the unusual is normalized. Even this definition of magical realism proves slippery. Whether it can be attributed to literature as a genre or a series of stylistic choices and trademark inclusions has been a great source of debate. Ultimately, while a strict definition of what magical realism really is continues to be elusive, it does have a set of identifiable qualities. In her book, Ordinary Enchantments: Magical Realism and the Remystification of Narrative, writer Wendy B. As former colonies, including those of Latin America, gained independence from European powers, it became necessary for the citizens of these territories to examine both their culture and their relation to the world. The era of colonialism under the European empire was one of oppression and stealth. • 37. The Science Of Human Cloning The science of human cloning is one of the most fascinating entities of the 21st century biology. The announcement of a cloned sheep ignited an international debate in the late 1990s; two and half decades later, the debate is still very much alive (Li 1 2). The researchers at the Roslin Institute, Scotland, announced that they had fruitfully cloned an adult mammal (Caplan 1 3). The procedure used in cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. It involves the transfer of the genetic code from the cell of an adult organism into an enucleated organism egg. Over the years, the science of cloning has found widespread application including human experiments. Ethicists, theologians, scientists, physicians, legislators, and concerned citizens have intensely debated the idea cloning from multivariate viewpoints. The National Bioethics Advisory Commission has reviewed with respect to its implications. It has come up with findings that of interest in this essay, top most being the increased potential of misuse of cloning by rogue scientists. A huge number of scientists are not necessarily interested in producing human clones; their primary goal is to use some exceedingly young embryos to obtain cloned human cells capable of curing diseases. • 41. Chesapeak Bay and Jamestown It is evident that every culture is affected by the environment in which said culture evolves. Whether these effects can be observed in the gods differing societies worship, or by the way in which resources are accumulated, the reasons are all the same. How each society and culture interacts with its environment dictates its development and growth. There is no more evident an example of this than the Chesapeake Bay area, pre, mid, and post colonization, using the colony of Jamestown as an model for contact interactions between two distinct cultures, and how these relations can be dictated by the environment. In the period termed pre contact the indigenous peoples living in the Chesapeake Bay region were known collectively as the Powhatan people. This name was used for the collective of the Algonquian speaking tribes in the Chesapeake Bay and, during the time of interest, was led by Chief Powhatan, who took his tribe name as his ruling name. Chief Powhatan inherited the rule of six tribes when he became chief, as well as having accumulated a multitude of tribes during his reign to create the Powhatan confederacy.
