Essay about The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost
The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost Since the beginning of Paradise Lost, a reader can witness the
dramatizing power possessed by Satan, and how he takes advantage of this very power in order to
satisfy his own causes. One such property of Satan s fantastic powers is his ability to manipulate any
individual into a false belief of who he really is, and therefore prevent a habitant of paradise from
discovering his true purpose that is hidden behind his actions. One such example of this, and one of
the most major in the epic, are the events that occur in Book IX involving Satan and Eve around the
forbidden tree. Here, Satan uses, what is to Eve, excellent reasoning to convince her to eat the
forbidden fruit, thereby exploiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though her beauty momentarily stuns him and he, for the time remained stupidly good, his
dedication to his vengeful cause prevails, and allows him to continue his appropriate plan. It is this
same dedication that throughout Satan s conversation with Eve, he does not allow her to retreat back
to Adam in order to lose such an ideal situation. Initially, Satan s actions with Eve involve little effort
to convince her that he is not any evil demon that Adam told her to expect on her voyage. Simply, he
uses his ability to flatter Eve in order to gain her attention and trust, an essential objective if he was
willing to destroy mankind (p. 248 249 lines 540 548): #8230;By gift, and thy celestial beauty adore,
With ravishment beheld #8230; #8230;who shouldst be seen A Goddess among Gods, adored and
served By Angels numberless, thy daily train? Using this flattery to compliment her beauty, and
allowing her to recognize the fact that all of Eden s animals adore her, he slyly inserts the proposition
that will allow her to become greater in power and being, A Goddess among Gods, rivaling the
omnipotent power possessed by God. Satan came in the form of a snake, the only reptile and animal
that could have the ability to pluck the forbidden fruit from the tree. When questioned how he attained
the ability to talk and interact, he simply answered that he ate the fruit of the tree, and received the
knowledge equal to that of a human.

Obesity is one of the major risk factors for gallstones, especially in women. A large clinical study
showed that being even moderately overweight increases one s risk for developing gallstones.
Secondly, excess estrogen from pregnancy, hormone replacement therapy or birth control pills appears
to increase cholesterol levels in bile and decrease gallbladder movement, both of which can lead to
gallstones.
Ethnicity is another important factor. According to scientists, Native Americans have a genetic
predisposition to secrete high levels of cholesterol in bile. In fact, they have the highest rates of
gallstones in the United States. A majority of Native American men have gallstones by age 60. Among
the Pima Indians of Arizona, 70 percent of women have gallstones by age 30. Mexican Americans
men and women of all ages also have high rates of gallstones.
The fourth factor is Cholesterol lowering drugs. Drugs that lower cholesterol levels in blood actually
increase the amount of cholesterol secreted in bile. This in turn can increase the risk of gallstones.
Another factor is rapid weight loss. As the body metabolizes fat during rapid weight loss, it causes the
liver to secrete extra cholesterol into bile, which can cause gallstones.
Gallstones may sometimes cause certain symptoms. These symptoms include Chronic Indigestion,
which have symptoms such as nausea, heartburn and bloating.
Sudden, steady and

The keyboard types faster and the camera has lots of add ons to play around with. I think Verizon is a
better decision for us because we can combine the phones and plans for a great price and the
installment price is only 31.50 per month (Verizon.com).
The Virtual employee will perform typical office duties to telecommute. Their duties are to reply to
emails, manage calendars, enter data and assist with social media. With these type of responsibilities,
it is important that everyone receives a stipend for their internet connection with Spectrum cable. They
provide the fastest speed for working from home because of their 25 Megabytes speed per seconds.
This helps with replying to email, managing calendar events, entering data and assistance with social
media.
The Operating system that was decided is Windows 10 64 bit because it is faster and it is able to
download more data than the 34 bit. With different time zones for each virtual employee, through
Microsoft, we can network and connect with each other. Windows 10 has the latest updates and to

Dr. John Kotter s Leading Change
In 1995, Dr. John Kotter introduced his vision for effective change management in his bestseller,
Leading Change. Since then, Kotter s 8 Step Change Model has become the definitive tool for leaders
wanting to effectively introduce new ideas and innovations into their business model.
Change management within an organization can be difficult, many employees will be reluctant or
outright belligerent towards any change to their status quo. Kotter s technique aims to transform a
controversial or radial change, into a positive outcome for employees and employers. The 8 Step
Change Model involves:
1. Creating urgency
2. Forming a powerful coalition
3. Create a vision for change
4. Communicate a vision
5. Remove obstacles
6. Create short term

The Industrial Revolution In America
Industrial Revolution in America
The industrial revolution in America took place in the nineteenth and twentieth century. During this
period there was mass production, modern technologies were made, people were getting rich and this
made America to be the global superpower in the world. The united states economy grew fast.
America became so rich that mark twain called it the Gilded Age
Although there Britain was the first to have access to the industrial revolution in the 17th and 18th
century, my focus will be on the American industrial revolution. Industrial revolution came into
existence after the end of the civil war. During the revolution transportation, electricity, and industrial
building came into existence and became very popular and made very significant changes in the
nation.
Transportations like the railroad which was linked to different communities and states was built,
steamboats, the Eerie canal, and road were also built. Although railroad was in existence during the
start of the civil war it became more popular after the end of the civil war.
During the 1860s, the Central Pacific Railroad started building rail track from Sacramento, California.
While the Union Pacific started laying tracks from Nebraska. In 1869, this made both tracks to meet at
a place in Utah, this enabled the united states to travel by train from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific
Ocean. The development of Railroad continued all through the 1800s with rail tracks spreading in

The Importance Of Writing In Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner
The importance of writing one s understanding of war sheds consciousness upon the cruelty,
malevolence, and death by ignorance. Reports of cruelty begins with Jarrell s recitation in his poem
Death of the Ball Turret Gunner in which he explicitly connects the death of a young soldier to that of
an aborted child. Though only 5 lines long, using metaphoric language Jarrell is able to imply that
only death can be fermented from the womb of the war. Harboring readers taunt emotions that stick to
them like wet fur . Whilst bringing the audience to a resolution set in stone that war can solely gives
the taking of life from another s child. In comparison, Hemingway transcribes of a man spat back into

What Is The First Cause Argument
The first cause argument is based on cause and effect, it attests that the universe must have a cause,
and that this cause is God. The first cause argument is also known as the cosmological argument. The
universe could not have come into being without something that started it. Therefore, this argument
does show that God exists. This essay will analyse the first cause argument, provide proof of why God
is shown that he exists by the first cause argument and, explore the objections and counter objections
that people have when it comes to this argument.
The first cause argument shows the existence of God through the statement that the universe must
have a cause and as result, it is impossible for there to be an infinite cycle of causes so therefore, God
exists because he is the first cause. The strength of this argument is that it indicates the need for
something in order for there to be a beginning, but why conclude that this Something is God? I
conclude that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have the gift of existence, and our existence was attained from our causes. If things and people
came into existence using their own nature without it being passed down to them through other people
there would be no need for a first cause but, people do not exist from their own nature which means
that they have a cause which goes to show that there is Indeed a first cause and that this cause must be
God. The universe only has beings that do not exist on their own essence, that are not eternal or
necessary, all beings in the universe need a cause. Beings that are not self explanatory, eternal or
necessary are called dependent or contingent. Furthermore, a being who is self explanatory is called a
necessary being. Dependent beings need causes. If the independent being does not exist, then all the
other dependent beings that rely on it will not exist. Dependent beings do exist and therefore an
independent being God, does

The character, Ella of Frell, in the film Ella Enchanted , is presented as a self reliant and an
independent woman in the scene where she meets Prince Charmont. Ella s character is portrayed from
the moment when Prince Char is being chased by his fans and runs into Ella, along with saving her
and himself from the crowd. The scene opens up with a full shot, which shows when Prince Char is

incorporated what most teenage girls (in modern day) would probably do if they have seen their

Mark Wade Album Analysis
Mark Wade is a proficient double bassist and composer who has been playing in NYC for two
decades, showing off his fluid, athletic sound. The follow up to his widely recognized debut album,
Event Horizon, is entitled Moving Day and like its previous, features a classic trio with Tim Harrison
and Scott Neumann on piano and drums, respectively. Together, they achieve an impressive triangular
tightness that can be heard without delay on the first track, the 6/4 post bop wonder that gave the
album its title. It kicks off with the pianist delivering an ostinato, which, minutes later, is reutilized by
the bassist to install the groove. The bandleader embarks on an effusive back and forth solo,
discharging equal parts of melody and rhythm, and the energy doesn t faint when Neumann unleashes
his clear sighted chops over a rock inflected vamp. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I thought of it as a crossing between Stevie Wonder and Chick Corea. Borrowing melody from
Debussy s La Mer , The Bells is an imaginative waltz encompassing glorious suspensions and a
chamber esque sparseness created by the bowed bass. On top of this musing, Harrison s left hand
onrushes are perceptible on the lower register, bringing McCoy s technique to the mind. The coolness
of the piano solo brings nice melodies while the brushwork of the drummer is noticeable throughout
the bass solo. Wade devised new shiny outfits for a couple of jazz standards, with Another Night in
Tunisia being shuffled in tempo yet maintaining the strong Latin affinity present in Dizzy s original,
and Autumn Leaves , which was reorganized to include Herbie Hancock s Maiden

Why Do People Join Organized Religion
Question 1
I honestly think that people, in general, want to feel a sense of belonging and that there is something
greater than themselves guiding us through our day to day lives. In many instances, people believe in a
God/Entity because it is a part of their culture and is held in high regard. Both in years past to present
religion has played a major role in the way we as people view ourselves and each other. An example
of why people join an organized religion would be for the purpose of social status. An example of that
I would say is Scientology. From the outside looking in it really looks like this group is particularly
seeking out the rich and famous to join the church. There are Scientology churches that are
specifically for their rich and famous members to attend. Yet the less fortunate members are treated
with less grandeur. That really seems like it s all about the status/money the church gains from its
members and the status the members gain by joining this church. I bring this up because the original
idea of joining a religion was to worship the most high and to learn to live by the rules set forth for its
follower. The majority of believers are believers because the religion was handed down to them and
they genuinely feel that the belief and practices are right for them and their families. Some individuals
would say what is church or religion itself, isn t it all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rational Number Report
Through the Rational Number Interview I was able to gain insight into Adams mathematical
understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages. As a student in year 5, Adam was able to make
connections using various mathematical strategies. Adam has an understanding of infinite numbers,
for example, when asked how many decimals are there between each rational number (0.1 and 0.11),
he answered promptly with many numbers . Adam was able to acknowledge that a fraction can be
shown as a division problem, divide the pizza into fifths and each get 3 pieces . He was able to

Comparing Two Leaders By Charles Schneider
This paper explores two leaders, one with strong success, and the other with less success, and
evaluating the differences and similarities between the two leaders. Charles Schneider was the COO of
eCollege, which was purchased by Pearson, from 1999 2001. Schneider left eCollege on unfavorable
terms due to his competitive and confrontational leadership style, and he has chosen to not list
eCollege in his background on either his Builder Sourcing or Mygoflight biography pages (Denver
Business Journal, 2001; Builder Sourcing, n.d.; Mygoflight, n.d.). Juxtapose this with Erika Roegies.
Roegies became a Vice President at TomTom when she was 35, and is now at Pearson (Linkedin,
n,d,). Roegies manages a team of eight five people, across three countries. When she joined Pearson,
her directive was to create a combined Program Management Organization that had been three
separate groups up until that point. Roegies accomplished this, and has driven a culture of repeatable,
and reliable. This paper compares and contrasts how each leader rose to power in their roles, their
leader and follower relationships, each leaders use of referent power with their leaders, colleagues,
and subordinates, how each leader motivated and rewards employees, as well as their self destruct
tendencies. Both leaders rose to power early in their careers. Prior to becoming the President and COO
at eCollege, Schneider was a Senior Vice President at Oracle, and prior to that a Principle at the

Connotation In Regina Barreca s Nighttime Fires And Elders

this somewhat insalubrious fixation. Similarly, in Seniors , Alberto Rios discusses several events that
had an impact on him and the word choices he uses relays that he still While Barreca implies in her

The use of dynamic language is apparent in both poems. In Nighttime Fires , Barreca chose to use
words that have a strong negative connotation and allude to conflict. The title itself carries no conflict,
and just from reading the title, the reader could presuppose that the poem is simply discussing
something positive such as a sitting around a campfire or fireplace. However, as she starts the poem,
she uses words that that display both the excitement she felt, as well as the frustration that her father
was experiencing after losing his job. At first, she uses dynamic words and phrases such as piled /
running noses / drove fast and later on, festival and carnival these words seem to denote the
excitement that Barreca felt as a child. Yet, while she felt excited, she can now see the conflict and
frustration that her father was experiencing and proceeds to utilize more negative language to express
this frustration. She describes how her father would be awake past midnight , read old newspapers
with no news , and split the pencil between his teeth, mad . These dynamic phrases and words carry
heavy connotations and, in literature, would usually only be applied to moments of conflict or
frustration. Alberto Rios also uses dynamic language in

The McTurkey is a good wholesome sandwich that is loved by millions across the world. This
sandwich is versatile, meeting the needs of those who enjoy a healthy sandwich and cannot eat

Supernatural Elements In William Faulkner s The Sound And...
Southern Gothic is defined as a genre of southern writing specific to American literature exclusive to
the American South. Stories in this genre of southern writing focus on grotesques themes and include
supernatural elements that are mainly focused on damage, the harsh conflicts of violence, racism, and
delusional characters. William Faulkner, in his book The Sound and the Furry , displays all of these
elements. It is seen by every character in the book and the scenes they play in the story, which is a
specific role in creating the Southern Gothic vibe. The story is told by the Compson children, which
are Benjy, Quentin, and Jason. Each of the children has their own section in the book in which they
describe their characteristics and let the readers know how the Civil War in the South lead for their
family to be dysfunctional in different ways. Faulkner s work is the embodiment of Southern Gothic
Style because in his writing a common theme is disintegration as well as a very serious obsession with
the Civil War as seen throughout his book with all the characters being deeply flawed in their own
ways. In the story, the grotesque atmosphere and social issues worsen as each of the characters tell
their story. All of the sections of the book come together to display the symbol of Southern Gothic.
In his novel, Faulkner tells the story of the disintegration of the Compson which is a Southern family.
The Sound and the Furry demonstrates an incredible innovative narrative style of the gothic theme of
disintegration. The first section of the book is told from the perspective of Benji who in the book is
described as disabled and is the youngest of the Compsons. The section of Benjy was told in a
childlike, disconnected and twisted manner. For Benjy order is very important for him since he gets
very upset when he sees anything that is not usual. An example of this is shown when Benjy becomes
inconsolable when his daily routine is modified. When Jason takes Benjy back to his regular routine
his mood changes and he is more relaxed. This shows how he is not used to his new life after the south
is redefining and that his parents and Cady have not been there liked they used to help him go through
this change. The

Crooks Image Of Loneliness
Why can t I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody. These are the words of Steinbeck describing
loneliness on the ranch in Of Mice and Men. Steinbeck makes an image of loneliness appear as the
words are read from the page. The loneliness in the novel is not caused by abuse or a broken heart, but
by socially imposed barriers. The barriers were never really made, they are more a ranking of social
power over anything else. The social barriers are formed and the workers on the ranch feel forced to
stay within their social boundaries. They all know that Crooks does not live in the bunkhouse, but
instead, out by the barn. Crooks, is in his own social boundaries because he has been hurt before and
does not want to relive his past pain he had suffered. When Crook expresses the quote, S pose you
didn t have nobody. S pose you couldn t go into the bunk house and play rummy cause you was black.
How d you like that? , it really gives you a feeling of his lifestyle. With Crooks, it felt as if you could

I have been very blessed in my life by excelling in school. Although I do very well in my classes,

friends say I am crazy for putting this amount effort into it, but I believe that it has truly helped me do
well on quizzes and tests. Additionally, I look up numerous educational videos on YouTube and Khan

integrals, but knowing when exactly to do them is quite difficult for me. For both of these classes, I
also form study groups with my friends to review material. It is very beneficial because we help each

may include not working hard enough or not earning it. It was suggested that women could not think

further objection involved property. In 1900, few women were householders or lodgers, if the vote

Before The Passover And Jesus s Explanation Before The...
Explanation: Before the Passover, as Jesus was having dinner with his disciples, Jesus knew that the
time of his death and return to the Father time had come, and as he had loved his own while he was on
the earth, he loved them until the end. And when supper had ended, the devil had put it into Judas
heart to betray Jesus. But Jesus, knowing that he had come from and was going to his Father, and that
the Father had given all things into his hands, got up, took off his coat, and girded himself with a
towel. He then poured a basin of water and started to wash the disciples feet. But when he came to
Peter, Peter asked him if he, his Lord, would wash his feet. Jesus answered that Peter did not yet
understand what he was doing, but he would understand later. Peter told Jesus that he would never
wash his feet; but Jesus told him that, if he didn t wash them, Peter would have to place with him.
Peter then, alarmed, asked that Jesus wash his hands and his head as well. Jesus said that he only
needed his feet washed, and would be completely clean. And they were clean, but with the exception
of Judas, who would betray him. And so when he was done, and had taken his coat again, he asked
them if they knew what he had done to them. They rightly called him Master and Lord, but if their
Lord and Master had washed their feet, much more ought they to serve one another. Jesus continued,
telling them that the servant is not greater than his master, nor the sent one greater than the sender,

Bordetella Pertussis Research Paper
Bordet and Gengou discovered Bordetella pertussis in 1906 when the first isolation was made in a
pure culture. The bacterium is described to be small, coccobacillus, rod shaped and gram negative that
triggers the body s immune system. The bacterium is classified in the domain of prokaryotes and has
currently eight different species in the Bordetella genus. Three similar species in this genus are
pathogenic to humans and cause the whooping cough disease. There are about 343 various strains of
Bordetella pertussis bacteria around the world that has been collected over the last 100 years. The
most efficient way to control the bacterium is monitoring the organism with vaccinations. Bordetella

There are several virulence factors associated with the initial infection, including: filamentous
hemagglutinin (FHA) and the pertussis toxin. Bordetella pertussis colonizes in the host via
filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) and the pertussis toxin. FHA is a large protein that forms
filamentous structures on the cell surface and also binds to galactose residues on the surface of the
trachea s ciliated epithelial cells. The pertussis toxin is a protein that has five subunits: S1, S2, S3, S4,
and S5, is also involved in adherence to the tracheal epithelium. Many of these components are also
known as adhesions, which bind the bacteria to the host cell. While others utilize different receptors
and bind to a glycolipid found specifically on the tracheal epithelium. Bordetella pertussis also
produces its own toxins, such as invasive adenylate cyclase, which is a single polypeptide that enters
epithelial cells, locally reduces phagocytic activity, and lyses red blood cells, and initiates infection.
Lethal toxin, formerly called dermonecrotic toxin, is a protein that causes inflammation where
Bordetella pertussis colonizes. Tracheal toxin, a peptidoglycan fragment, destroys ciliated cells,
stimulates the release of interleukin 1, and causes fever. Once infected, the individual receives
antibiotics, usually erythromycin. In order to have more control of this disease, there needs

Questions On Adjusting And The Truth

Professor Polizzi
Final Draft
Adjusting to the Truth... I was going to be extremely late. At this point, the clock on my watch couldn
t give me the courage to think otherwise. Nevertheless, I realized I was being very negative about the
situation. So I decided to run for it, if I made it, terrific. If not at least I would be able to say I tried.
The way my mom has always taught me to keep trying no matter how many obstacles you have in
front of you, to keep trying because there s so much more satisfaction in that in the end than, just
giving up because you were scared or had let the negative lies take over you. From a far I could see
the bus arriving all I could think of at the moment was to not stop trying. ... Show more content on

Potassium Sulfate And Sodium Chloride Essay
Introduction A solution is a uniform mixture of two or more components. The components can be
identified as solutes or a solvent. The solutes are the minor components of the solution, and they are
what get dissolved. The solvent is the major component of the solution, and it does the dissolving.
Solutions are measured in terms of solubility. Solubility refers to the maximum amount of solute that
will dissolve in the solvent. When the maximum amount of solute has dissolved, the solution becomes
saturated. In solving the solubility, two things must be known: the mass of the solute and the mass of
the solution.
Different techniques can be used to determine the solubility of a solution, such as filtration through
paper cloth or evaporation by heat. In this experiment, the solubility was obtained through evaporation
of the solvent by heat. Potassium sulfate and sodium chloride will used in solutions to test the
solubilities at room temperature and approximately 40℃. Potassium sulfate will also be used in a
solution to test the uncertainty of the experiment.
Procedure

beaker and stirred until they were completely dissolved. Then an empty petri dish was weighed on an

Scarcity Of Water Essay
Leonardo da Vinci said, Water is the driving force of all nature. Most people will acknowledge this
statement because water is necessary for both life and good health. Water is an essential ingredient of
life not only for humans but also for the animals with which we share the world and the environment
that sustains our presence. This is the most pressing global issue because when water is no longer safe
to use, or is polluted, this causes problems in many other areas, such as with general health and
hygiene, child mortality, and the environmental stability for the farming and ranching industries.
According to the United Nations, forty percent of the world s population is a victim of water scarcity,
and the number is rising, which is why more recently this issue has become prominent with the media
internationally. In the end, water is how our world survives, and when its purity is in jeopardy, so is
the stability of our world. While it is easier for someone who lives in America to see the localized
water related problems in this country, such as the droughts in California and the Flint, Michigan
water quality crisis, clean water is a worldwide issue and a preventable one. Many impoverished
people must live with unclean water due to neglect of this problem by their governing political bodies.
The United Nations reports 1,000 children dying every day from diseases caused by unclean water and
sanitation issues that are avoidable with reasonable improvements. When the

Kantian Virtue Ethics
Ethics is an attempt to offer a rational response to answer how humans best live their lives, as argued
by Aristotle. Thus the nature of human well being. For Aristotle, man has a nature that is definite and
makes it worthwhile to be a human being. This nature is reached through virtuously flourishing, which
is argued to be reached when we reason well. Aristotle takes an agent centered approach to answer the
question of how one should efficiently ethically live, therefore informing ethics. For Aristotle, humans
are unique beings with rationality distinguishing them from other beings: the function of man is
activity of soul in accordance with reason. Whilst nature is the way of life, human and nature is the

Hursthouse supports Aristotle s view that there is an inherent moral value, a manifestation of virtue,
within the feeling of certain emotions. Furthermore, she argues that the Aristotelian image of human
nature creates an area for the emotions in the desiderative part of the soul. The desiderative part allows
us to feel emotions that non rational animals are not subject to. However, Hursthouse argues that it is
more significant through reason being able to drastically alter an emotion that humans definitely share
with animals, for example, fear. An animal may run straight away from fear whilst a human may face
it if rationally evaluated. The emotion of other beings are argued to be fundamentally associated to
physical self preservation, this can be altered in human beings into an emotion linked with the
preservation of what is best, most preserving, in us and our species. Therefore, virtuous people make
the right decision more often through the act of being virtuous, which then helps us with moral
deliberations. Overall, as seen, Hursthouse supports Aristotle s thesis of human nature and
successfully argues how human nature informs

October 5th 2014
Over the years of cinema history, we ve heard plenty lines that make our skin crawl with bone chilling
fear, but for me, none quite did it like this line from Captain Quint, in Jaws.
You know the thing about a shark, he s got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll s eye. When he
comes at ya, doesn t seem to be livin . Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then,
ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin
and the hollerin they all come in and rip you to pieces. Y know by the end of that first dawn, lost a
hundred men! I don t know how many sharks, maybe a thousand! I don t know how many men, they
averaged six an hour. This quote is burned into my mind forever. I was maybe eleven when I first
watched Jaws, and Captain Quints long monologue about his experience in the waters of the Atlantic,
dumped into the sea by a shipwrecked USS. Indianapolis has always instilled fear and awe in me. Awe
and fear towards sharks. So what s it called when something instills a feeling of awe in a person?

The Problem Of Teen Depression Stigma
Teen Depression Stigma It is proven that one in five teens experience depression. Depression is a
condition where a person feels hopeless, not motivated, or not interested in life, lasting at least 2
weeks or longer. There is an urgency to start talking about dealing with this because suicide is the
third leading cause of death in teens and fifteen percent of teens have actually considered suicide.
According to Amy Sutton 55% of the population without depression don t consider it to be an actual
disease. This stigma is making it close to impossible for teens to say they are going through
depression. Some people say it is just a phase , kids cannot get depression , or people with depression
are crazy . The contributing factors of rational thought, the stigma, judgement, and fear of treatment
make dealing with the depression that much more difficult. In the last few years, studies have proven
that at least one in five teens have had at least one depressive episode before going into college. The
Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) acknowledged, In 2000, around 3.5 million high
school students have suicide ideation, two million have made specific suicide plans, and 1 million
have made suicide attempts. . The CDC mentioned, in the early 2000s depression in teens had been
common, and it has gotten worse yet. Young children and young adults could go without treatment or

Treatment For Non Compressible Hemorrhages
Current Problems
Hemorrhages, or internal bleeding, account for a large portion of deaths in the world. Hemorrhages are
an extremely life threatening injury that require immediate medical attention. These injuries are
extremely sensitive to the time of injury and the time it takes for surgery to begin. Hemorrhages fall
into two main categories: non compressible and compressible. Compressible hemorrhages can be
treated with external compression, tourniquets, and dressings. Non compressible hemorrhages can not
be treated with these techniques, because the injury is usually deep inside the abdominal part of the
body and either not visible, or not within reach. This makes non compressible hemorrhages much
more challenging to treat.
Current Treatments
Treatment for non compressible hemorrhages depends on the location of the hemorrhage; if the wound
is relatively shallow in the abdominal area and it is possible to reach the site of bleeding, then gauze
and fluid resuscitation may be used. Unfortunately, these techniques are not very effective over time.
If the injury is internal, like an injury to the spleen, liver or retroperitoneal vasculature, then the only
current treatment is emergency surgery. However, most non compressible hemorrhage injuries occur
when medical treatment is not immediately available; transport time to reach a hospital could take
hours, compromising the survival rate of the injured patient.
An ideal treatment for a non compressible hemorrhage would be to

Anna Komnene s The Alexiad
The Alexiad is one of the most famous documents of Byzantine texts written by princess Anna
Komnene the daughter of Alexios I. She describes the events in the eyes of the Byzantines, making the
source, to an extent, biased towards her father. It is a rich account providing a unique view of a key
period in in the history of Byzantium and Europe. The book documents one of the most active periods
in the High Middle Ages politically and militarily and its influence on religion. Komnene beings the
book with an in depth description of her father. In the book she compares the wars and feats her father

Uniquely, her account does not delve into the reforms of society, economy, or power but rather
discusses Alexios military campaigns he leads with and against the Byzantine neighbors. Throughout
the book, Komnene chronicles the wars and the different groups Alexios battles. In Book I, Komnene
addresses Alexios becoming general in the army and the preparations for war against the Normans; the
Normans had led a military campaign against the Byzantines under the consent of Pope Gregory VII
to conquer lands and power for the Catholic Church. The battle pursued for years, eventually the
Normans being led by Robert s son Bohemond. When he besieged the city, the Byzantines resisted and
Bohemond was forced to abandon the campaign and sign a peace treaty. During the First Crusade,
Anna Komnene refers to the Celts, Latins, and Normans as uneducated barbarians and heretics. At the
time, Alexios was emperor and saw the evil was corrupting many souls and being a strong Christian
leader he had to counteract the heresy. The First Crusade was complex; it was not a just a Holy War
between the Roman Catholic Church and the Caliphate, but an evolution of religion in Byzantium.
The church split: Greek orthodox in the east and the Latin orthodox church in the west. The goal of
the Crusade was to repel the barbarians and take back the Holy Land that was stolen from the Muslim
forces. This was significant as it illustrates

Human Event Reflection
This semester in The Human Event, we read multiple diverse texts and we discussed and worked with
them in ways that I have not experienced in High School. Instead of discussing the texts based on
random details that we find in the text, we discussed what the text meant to the overall story, or better
yet, what the evidence said about the culture of the story and human nature. I learned a great deal
about the diverse meanings of human life, and I learned about various cultures and pieces of their
history. Additionally, we wrote papers based on textual evidence to argue points in a way on a higher
level than I was used to. My argumentative ability evolved from using plot summary into deeply
analyzing parts of the text to prove a point. From developing concrete skills to the cultural content I
was exposed to, I have grown from this semester in The Human Event.
When I started the semester in The Human Event, I had little ability of supporting my position
effectively. When I wrote my first paper in The Human Event, I defaulted to the standard of argument
that was present in high school: I summarized the plot of the text. Even to the foundation of my
roadmap, I attempted to follow a chronological order to Gilgamesh, as I specifically stated that I have
structured this paper to follow the order of the plot . In the rest of my paper, I didn t even follow the
plot effectively. Instead of following the plot, I provided episodes within the plot. For example, I

the Qur an, then they shall receive salvation. Additionally, God is omniscient but man still needs
punishment for any evil acts. The problem of evil arises when free moral beings choose to do evil acts.
We, as free beings, tend to abuse our rights of freedom and cause harm to others and ourselves. For the
evil acts committed by man, there are great consequences. Suffering, above all, will be faced by God
in order to challenge man to move freely toward moral perfection. Nonetheless, Allah forgives all
those who accept responsibility for their actions; man is once again relieved of impurities. God is all
merciful. Yes, one does wrong, but when one is truly sorry, Allah will forgive man, for Allah is just
and benevolent. The concept of Ethics is however, not new to my understanding, but I think of this
reflection to be one that will broaden my spectrum of moral action of world religions other than my
own. The basis or foundation of moral action resides in the Qur an and Sunna. Moreover, the Qur an
leads the way for developing a moral lifestyle in compliance with Allah. The Qur an shows man a
passageway to reality, to a complete and forgiving world. Furthermore, the Qur an and the Sunna
incorporate the fundamentals and ethics Muslims should fulfill. The Qur an serves as a basis,

Essay On Sunshine State
Taylor Brent Somogy ENC 4311 Diane Roberts Perceptions of the Sunshine State On more than one
occasion, I ve heard people from outside the state say that living in Florida must be just like living on
constant vacation. However, from quite a few other non natives of the state, I ve heard the exact
opposite. Probably the most distinct negative comparison I can recall was someone equating the state
to a cramped and hot hamster cage, where hamsters just keep getting added to the cage no matter how
many there already were. As someone who was born here and lived here all their life, it s difficult to
agree with either of these of these ideas. Although, if you ve ever experienced living here in the
summer with a broken AC, I bet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, you d also better hope that the ordinary afternoon monsoons don t make that drive all for
nothing. And from time to time, instead of the usual rainstorms, you have intense and destructive
hurricanes to worry about. It s enough to make anyone familiar with this question why this place is
known to the world as the sunshine state. The often bizarre events that occur in the state and make
national news also doesn t play very well into one s idea of the area. Indeed, it s given birth to the
internet meme known as Florida Man. Headlines range from something strange and hilarious like
Florida Man Puts Dragon Lizard in His Mouth, Smacks People with It to depressing and sad like
Florida Man Shoots Good Samaritan Standing Up for Elderly Man. For many people who have never
personally visited the state, this can easily reinforce their beliefs that it s filled strictly with deranged
or low class individuals and maybe moving here to start a new life isn t really an idea that many
should consider. One more factor that develops a negative perception of the area is the fact that
Florida is Florida and not anywhere else. That probably seems like a ridiculous thing to read but it
needs to be said. Florida is not New York. It s not Michigan. It s Florida. While there is nothing wrong
with seeking the familiarity of home and all, I can t tell you how many people I ve met here where
Florida has failed to live up to their expectations, and as a

A Different Kind Of R R
A Different Kind of R R One of the leading struggles for any type of brand, platform, or network in
today s technologically connected age is staying relevant. Arguably it is fairly easy to go viral on the
Internet, but that does not necessarily mean long term success after the excitement dies down. While
individual people can benefit from and profit off of fifteen minutes of fame (I mean, have you seen all
the things that Damn Daniel kid has been doing? He has gotten photoshoots, brand deals, and even
invites to movie premiers!), companies like television networks need to see continual and enduring
engagement with consumers in order to make money by selling advertising space and building up
programs. Recently, the well known TV network ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Originally Freeform was called The Family Network, and was owned by the Christian Broadcast
Company. In 1996 the broadcast company merged with The Walt Disney Company under the
stipulation that the word Family would remain in the network name (Ulaby). Several successful years
later, ABC Family announced in October of 2015 that their network name would be changing to
Freeform. The change they underwent can be described as corporate rebranding, or the disjunction or
change between an initially formulated corporate brand and a new formulation (Merrilees) as defined
in an article titled Principles of corporate rebranding from the European Journal of Marketing. In their
press release announcing the change, (then) ABC Family stated that they were changing the name of
their network to Freeform in order to serve the new generation of Becomers who are fans on that epic
adventure of becoming an adult from first kiss to first kid! (Dabney). Younger than Millennials,
Becomers are young adults who are on the crazy journey of figuring out who they are and how to
become an adult. With this new image, ABC Family became a place that according to their ad Why is
ABC Family Becoming Freeform? encourages their inquisitive minds and is a place to grow and ask
questions (Freeform). In the press release announcing the change, the network stated that the
transformation came about in

industries. According to Australian Coal Association (Coal amp; the Community), black coal mining is
one of Australia s most important industries that creates employment, low cost fuel and important
source of export revenue.

(i) The productivity of the glass installers will be increase in a change from salary to piece rates, on
the new system they will get paid based on the fixed amount per window completed. So the more
glasses they fixed, the more they will get paid. (ii) Increase in productivity leads to increase in the
total output, in this case number of glasses repaired or fixed. (iii) The average cost will stay the same
which is the old hourly wage system just like in Previous System (iv) The turnover of productive
workers will be high because of the setting of piece rate in the New System (v) If the workers increase
their output more because of the piece rate it will increase the profit for the principal.

(a) The marginal cost is (100 60)/(40 20) = 2
(b) The average cost at Qy = 20 is 60/20 = 3 The average cost at Qy = 40 is 100/40 = 2.5
(c) Yes. The average cost (AC) decrease from 3 to 2.5 when output increase from 20 to 40.
(d) The marginal cost is (180 75)/(45 15) = 3.5
(e) The average cost at Qx = 15 is 75/15 = 5 The average cost at Qx = 45 is 180/45 = 4
(f) Yes. The average cost (AC) decrease from 5 to 4 when output increase from 15 to 45.
(g) Since TC(15, 20) = 130 lt; TC(15, 0) = 75 + TC(0, 20) = 60 and TC(45, 40) = 260 lt; TC(45, 0) =
180 + TC(0, 40) = 100. Hence we have economies of scope.

  • 2. Essay about The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost Since the beginning of Paradise Lost, a reader can witness the dramatizing power possessed by Satan, and how he takes advantage of this very power in order to satisfy his own causes. One such property of Satan s fantastic powers is his ability to manipulate any individual into a false belief of who he really is, and therefore prevent a habitant of paradise from discovering his true purpose that is hidden behind his actions. One such example of this, and one of the most major in the epic, are the events that occur in Book IX involving Satan and Eve around the forbidden tree. Here, Satan uses, what is to Eve, excellent reasoning to convince her to eat the forbidden fruit, thereby exploiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though her beauty momentarily stuns him and he, for the time remained stupidly good, his dedication to his vengeful cause prevails, and allows him to continue his appropriate plan. It is this same dedication that throughout Satan s conversation with Eve, he does not allow her to retreat back to Adam in order to lose such an ideal situation. Initially, Satan s actions with Eve involve little effort to convince her that he is not any evil demon that Adam told her to expect on her voyage. Simply, he uses his ability to flatter Eve in order to gain her attention and trust, an essential objective if he was willing to destroy mankind (p. 248 249 lines 540 548): #8230;By gift, and thy celestial beauty adore, With ravishment beheld #8230; #8230;who shouldst be seen A Goddess among Gods, adored and served By Angels numberless, thy daily train? Using this flattery to compliment her beauty, and allowing her to recognize the fact that all of Eden s animals adore her, he slyly inserts the proposition that will allow her to become greater in power and being, A Goddess among Gods, rivaling the omnipotent power possessed by God. Satan came in the form of a snake, the only reptile and animal that could have the ability to pluck the forbidden fruit from the tree. When questioned how he attained the ability to talk and interact, he simply answered that he ate the fruit of the tree, and received the knowledge equal to that of a human. ... Obesity is one of the major risk factors for gallstones, especially in women. A large clinical study showed that being even moderately overweight increases one s risk for developing gallstones. Secondly, excess estrogen from pregnancy, hormone replacement therapy or birth control pills appears to increase cholesterol levels in bile and decrease gallbladder movement, both of which can lead to gallstones. Ethnicity is another important factor. According to scientists, Native Americans have a genetic predisposition to secrete high levels of cholesterol in bile. In fact, they have the highest rates of gallstones in the United States. A majority of Native American men have gallstones by age 60. Among the Pima Indians of Arizona, 70 percent of women have gallstones by age 30. Mexican Americans men and women of all ages also have high rates of gallstones. The fourth factor is Cholesterol lowering drugs. Drugs that lower cholesterol levels in blood actually increase the amount of cholesterol secreted in bile. This in turn can increase the risk of gallstones.
  • 4. Another factor is rapid weight loss. As the body metabolizes fat during rapid weight loss, it causes the liver to secrete extra cholesterol into bile, which can cause gallstones. Gallstones may sometimes cause certain symptoms. These symptoms include Chronic Indigestion, which have symptoms such as nausea, heartburn and bloating. Sudden, steady and ... • 7. The Industrial Revolution In America Industrial Revolution in America The industrial revolution in America took place in the nineteenth and twentieth century. During this period there was mass production, modern technologies were made, people were getting rich and this made America to be the global superpower in the world. The united states economy grew fast. America became so rich that mark twain called it the Gilded Age Although there Britain was the first to have access to the industrial revolution in the 17th and 18th century, my focus will be on the American industrial revolution. Industrial revolution came into existence after the end of the civil war. During the revolution transportation, electricity, and industrial building came into existence and became very popular and made very significant changes in the nation. Transportations like the railroad which was linked to different communities and states was built, steamboats, the Eerie canal, and road were also built. Although railroad was in existence during the start of the civil war it became more popular after the end of the civil war. During the 1860s, the Central Pacific Railroad started building rail track from Sacramento, California. While the Union Pacific started laying tracks from Nebraska. • 9. What Is The First Cause Argument The first cause argument is based on cause and effect, it attests that the universe must have a cause, and that this cause is God. The first cause argument is also known as the cosmological argument. The universe could not have come into being without something that started it. Therefore, this argument does show that God exists. This essay will analyse the first cause argument, provide proof of why God is shown that he exists by the first cause argument and, explore the objections and counter objections that people have when it comes to this argument. The first cause argument shows the existence of God through the statement that the universe must have a cause and as result, it is impossible for there to be an infinite cycle of causes so therefore, God exists because he is the first cause. The strength of this argument is that it indicates the need for something in order for there to be a beginning, but why conclude that this Something is God? I conclude that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We have the gift of existence, and our existence was attained from our causes. If things and people came into existence using their own nature without it being passed down to them through other people there would be no need for a first cause but, people do not exist from their own nature which means that they have a cause which goes to show that there is Indeed a first cause and that this cause must be God. The universe only has beings that do not exist on their own essence, that are not eternal or necessary, all beings in the universe need a cause. Beings that are not self explanatory, eternal or necessary are called dependent or contingent. Furthermore, a being who is self explanatory is called a necessary being. Dependent beings need causes. • 11. Mark Wade Album Analysis Mark Wade is a proficient double bassist and composer who has been playing in NYC for two decades, showing off his fluid, athletic sound. The follow up to his widely recognized debut album, Event Horizon, is entitled Moving Day and like its previous, features a classic trio with Tim Harrison and Scott Neumann on piano and drums, respectively. Together, they achieve an impressive triangular tightness that can be heard without delay on the first track, the 6/4 post bop wonder that gave the album its title. It kicks off with the pianist delivering an ostinato, which, minutes later, is reutilized by the bassist to install the groove. The bandleader embarks on an effusive back and forth solo, discharging equal parts of melody and rhythm, and the energy doesn t faint when Neumann unleashes his clear sighted chops over a rock inflected vamp. ... • 12. Why Do People Join Organized Religion Question 1 I honestly think that people, in general, want to feel a sense of belonging and that there is something greater than themselves guiding us through our day to day lives. In many instances, people believe in a God/Entity because it is a part of their culture and is held in high regard. Both in years past to present religion has played a major role in the way we as people view ourselves and each other. An example of why people join an organized religion would be for the purpose of social status. An example of that I would say is Scientology. From the outside looking in it really looks like this group is particularly seeking out the rich and famous to join the church. There are Scientology churches that are specifically for their rich and famous members to attend. Yet the less fortunate members are treated with less grandeur. That really seems like it s all about the status/money the church gains from its members and the status the members gain by joining this church. I bring this up because the original idea of joining a religion was to worship the most high and to learn to live by the rules set forth for its follower. The majority of believers are believers because the religion was handed down to them and they genuinely feel that the belief and practices are right for them and their families. Charles Schneider was the COO of eCollege, which was purchased by Pearson, from 1999 2001. Schneider left eCollege on unfavorable terms due to his competitive and confrontational leadership style, and he has chosen to not list eCollege in his background on either his Builder Sourcing or Mygoflight biography pages (Denver Business Journal, 2001; Builder Sourcing, n.d.; Mygoflight, n.d.). Juxtapose this with Erika Roegies. Roegies became a Vice President at TomTom when she was 35, and is now at Pearson (Linkedin, n,d,). Roegies manages a team of eight five people, across three countries. When she joined Pearson, her directive was to create a combined Program Management Organization that had been three separate groups up until that point. Roegies accomplished this, and has driven a culture of repeatable, and reliable. This paper compares and contrasts how each leader rose to power in their roles, their leader and follower relationships, each leaders use of referent power with their leaders, colleagues, and subordinates, how each leader motivated and rewards employees, as well as their self destruct tendencies. • 17. Supernatural Elements In William Faulkner s The Sound And... Southern Gothic is defined as a genre of southern writing specific to American literature exclusive to the American South. Stories in this genre of southern writing focus on grotesques themes and include supernatural elements that are mainly focused on damage, the harsh conflicts of violence, racism, and delusional characters. William Faulkner, in his book The Sound and the Furry , displays all of these elements. It is seen by every character in the book and the scenes they play in the story, which is a specific role in creating the Southern Gothic vibe. The story is told by the Compson children, which are Benjy, Quentin, and Jason. Each of the children has their own section in the book in which they describe their characteristics and let the readers know how the Civil War in the South lead for their family to be dysfunctional in different ways. Faulkner s work is the embodiment of Southern Gothic Style because in his writing a common theme is disintegration as well as a very serious obsession with the Civil War as seen throughout his book with all the characters being deeply flawed in their own ways. In the story, the grotesque atmosphere and social issues worsen as each of the characters tell their story. All of the sections of the book come together to display the symbol of Southern Gothic. In his novel, Faulkner tells the story of the disintegration of the Compson which is a Southern family. The Sound and the Furry demonstrates an incredible innovative narrative style of the gothic theme of disintegration. The first section of the book is told from the perspective of Benji who in the book is described as disabled and is the youngest of the Compsons. The section of Benjy was told in a childlike, disconnected and twisted manner. For Benjy order is very important for him since he gets very upset when he sees anything that is not usual. An example of this is shown when Benjy becomes inconsolable when his daily routine is modified. When Jason takes Benjy back to his regular routine his mood changes and he is more relaxed. This shows how he is not used to his new life after the south is redefining and that his parents and Cady have not been there liked they used to help him go through this change. Women fought for a long time and women never stopped trying. Let s talk about some of the strategies women used to earn the right to vote. There is many different ways women protested, here are just some of the steps they took to get their rights. Do you think things have to be equal to be fair? Let s find out. One reason why women suffered is because they would try to do everything they could do, and it progressed to other countries. Women would hold signs, have marches, have sit ins, have meetings, and would starve themselves to get equality. Women didn t feel like they were getting treated fairly. The first woman to lead the women s suffrage was Millicent Fawcett, and Carrie Chapman Catt. Grolier says This was formed in 1904, after a few years European countries decided to vote...... Accordingly Allice Paul organized the National Women s party which used strategies like mass marches and hunger strikes. The organization led to victory on August 26, 1920. And when supper had ended, the devil had put it into Judas heart to betray Jesus. But Jesus, knowing that he had come from and was going to his Father, and that the Father had given all things into his hands, got up, took off his coat, and girded himself with a towel. He then poured a basin of water and started to wash the disciples feet. But when he came to Peter, Peter asked him if he, his Lord, would wash his feet. The solutes are the minor components of the solution, and they are what get dissolved. The solvent is the major component of the solution, and it does the dissolving. Solutions are measured in terms of solubility. Solubility refers to the maximum amount of solute that will dissolve in the solvent. When the maximum amount of solute has dissolved, the solution becomes saturated. In solving the solubility, two things must be known: the mass of the solute and the mass of the solution. Different techniques can be used to determine the solubility of a solution, such as filtration through paper cloth or evaporation by heat. In this experiment, the solubility was obtained through evaporation of the solvent by heat. Potassium sulfate and sodium chloride will used in solutions to test the solubilities at room temperature and approximately 40℃. Potassium sulfate will also be used in a solution to test the uncertainty of the experiment. • 27. Scarcity Of Water Essay Leonardo da Vinci said, Water is the driving force of all nature. Most people will acknowledge this statement because water is necessary for both life and good health. Water is an essential ingredient of life not only for humans but also for the animals with which we share the world and the environment that sustains our presence. This is the most pressing global issue because when water is no longer safe to use, or is polluted, this causes problems in many other areas, such as with general health and hygiene, child mortality, and the environmental stability for the farming and ranching industries. According to the United Nations, forty percent of the world s population is a victim of water scarcity, and the number is rising, which is why more recently this issue has become prominent with the media internationally. In the end, water is how our world survives, and when its purity is in jeopardy, so is the stability of our world. While it is easier for someone who lives in America to see the localized water related problems in this country, such as the droughts in California and the Flint, Michigan water quality crisis, clean water is a worldwide issue and a preventable one. For Aristotle, man has a nature that is definite and makes it worthwhile to be a human being. This nature is reached through virtuously flourishing, which is argued to be reached when we reason well. Aristotle takes an agent centered approach to answer the question of how one should efficiently ethically live, therefore informing ethics. Hursthouse supports Aristotle s view that there is an inherent moral value, a manifestation of virtue, within the feeling of certain emotions. Furthermore, she argues that the Aristotelian image of human nature creates an area for the emotions in the desiderative part of the soul. The desiderative part allows us to feel emotions that non rational animals are not subject to. However, Hursthouse argues that it is more significant through reason being able to drastically alter an emotion that humans definitely share with animals, for example, fear. An animal may run straight away from fear whilst a human may face it if rationally evaluated. The emotion of other beings are argued to be fundamentally associated to physical self preservation, this can be altered in human beings into an emotion linked with the preservation of what is best, most preserving, in us and our species. Therefore, virtuous people make the right decision more often through the act of being virtuous, which then helps us with moral deliberations. Jaws Short Monologue Analysis Patrick Cassells Ms. Ballard Period One October 5th 2014 Over the years of cinema history, we ve heard plenty lines that make our skin crawl with bone chilling fear, but for me, none quite did it like this line from Captain Quint, in Jaws. You know the thing about a shark, he s got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll s eye. When he comes at ya, doesn t seem to be livin . Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin and the hollerin they all come in and rip you to pieces. Y know by the end of that first dawn, lost a hundred men! I don t know how many sharks, maybe a thousand! I don t know how many men, they averaged six an hour. • 33. The Problem Of Teen Depression Stigma Teen Depression Stigma It is proven that one in five teens experience depression. Depression is a condition where a person feels hopeless, not motivated, or not interested in life, lasting at least 2 weeks or longer. There is an urgency to start talking about dealing with this because suicide is the third leading cause of death in teens and fifteen percent of teens have actually considered suicide. According to Amy Sutton 55% of the population without depression don t consider it to be an actual disease. This stigma is making it close to impossible for teens to say they are going through depression. Some people say it is just a phase , kids cannot get depression , or people with depression are crazy . The contributing factors of rational thought, the stigma, judgement, and fear of treatment make dealing with the depression that much more difficult. In the last few years, studies have proven that at least one in five teens have had at least one depressive episode before going into college. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) acknowledged, In 2000, around 3.5 million high school students have suicide ideation, two million have made specific suicide plans, and 1 million have made suicide attempts. . • 36. Treatment For Non Compressible Hemorrhages Current Problems Hemorrhages, or internal bleeding, account for a large portion of deaths in the world. Hemorrhages are an extremely life threatening injury that require immediate medical attention. These injuries are extremely sensitive to the time of injury and the time it takes for surgery to begin. Hemorrhages fall into two main categories: non compressible and compressible. Compressible hemorrhages can be treated with external compression, tourniquets, and dressings. Non compressible hemorrhages can not be treated with these techniques, because the injury is usually deep inside the abdominal part of the body and either not visible, or not within reach. This makes non compressible hemorrhages much more challenging to treat. Current Treatments Treatment for non compressible hemorrhages depends on the location of the hemorrhage; if the wound is relatively shallow in the abdominal area and it is possible to reach the site of bleeding, then gauze and fluid resuscitation may be used. Unfortunately, these techniques are not very effective over time. If the injury is internal, like an injury to the spleen, liver or retroperitoneal vasculature, then the only current treatment is emergency surgery. However, most non compressible hemorrhage injuries occur when medical treatment is not immediately available; transport time to reach a hospital could take hours, compromising the survival rate of the injured patient. Instead of discussing the texts based on random details that we find in the text, we discussed what the text meant to the overall story, or better yet, what the evidence said about the culture of the story and human nature. I learned a great deal about the diverse meanings of human life, and I learned about various cultures and pieces of their history. Additionally, we wrote papers based on textual evidence to argue points in a way on a higher level than I was used to. My argumentative ability evolved from using plot summary into deeply analyzing parts of the text to prove a point. From developing concrete skills to the cultural content I was exposed to, I have grown from this semester in The Human Event. When I started the semester in The Human Event, I had little ability of supporting my position effectively. According to Islam, God has given us the choice of right and wrong and if Muslims follow the path of the Qur an, then they shall receive salvation. Additionally, God is omniscient but man still needs punishment for any evil acts. The problem of evil arises when free moral beings choose to do evil acts. We, as free beings, tend to abuse our rights of freedom and cause harm to others and ourselves. For the evil acts committed by man, there are great consequences. Suffering, above all, will be faced by God in order to challenge man to move freely toward moral perfection. Nonetheless, Allah forgives all those who accept responsibility for their actions; man is once again relieved of impurities. God is all merciful.
