After stealing the vehicle he was found roaming through Indianapolis streets. The police found
him and after questioning they arrested the man. Dillinger found a way to escape the officers
and knowing he would be in trouble he decided to not go back to his hometown. He later joined
the U.S army. John later realized being in the army was not for him. During the Pearl Harbor
attack he jumped ships and from then on was dishonorably discharged. He later returned to
Mooresville and married the teenager, Beryl Ethel Hovious. John attempted to get his life
together but his goal later failed. He robbed a grocery store once again and returned the jail cell.
The article, History.com, states while being imprisoned the criminal met two men that would
later be apart of his gang. The men he met were Harry Pierpont and Homer Van Meter. While
John Dillinger was also doing his time his wife Beryl often visited him. Beryl had a tough time
dealing with the separation so she divorced him and once again John went into a deep depression
from a heartbreak. After John Dillinger did his time in prison he then met up with the two men he
met in prison, from there they started their criminal lives. In May 1929, the men started their
master plan. By the year of 1934, the plan got more advanced. They planned to have the robbery

Day o! Day ay ay o! Daylight come and we wan go home, sung the King of Calypso. Someone may

known as Harry Belafonte is the vocalist behind this song. He s also a civil rights activist and actor.
He was born on March 1st, 1927 in New York City. He was the only child to Mr and Mrs Harold

Similarities Between Public And Public Administration
Introduction
A public institution is different from a private one. With that being said one can t expect them to do
everything in a similar manner, but there are similarities that they share. This assignment aims to
bring light to what those similarities and differences are and how public administration can be
explained in order to give one understanding before we get deep into the topic. Five ways in which
Public administration has been explained
According Thornhill et al (2014:15) Public Administration is a study that ensures that there is a
governing body or a course of action that is in place to ensure that the people in the institution or
organization perform the very work or duties that are assigned to them, and if one does not

The pair also uses workers who have the necessary skills to organize and keep accounts, maintain
the files of the administrations, etc.
According to Naidu (1996:12) profit making is not only normal to private administration, it has also
become an acceptable for public administration to indulge in profit making. It is also stated that
private administration has become a new player in the industry of public service. Thus in the
support they get from the community they operate it, they have seen that they too should do their
bit for the public.
According to Naidu (1996:13) in terms of personnel management they are similar in a manner that
private institutions have adopted the practices of public administration. They now see how they can
reap the benefits of treating their personnel in a good manner and how it impacts on productivity.
Public institutions have also in some ways mimicked the operations of private

Scott Equipment Organization Many businesses use debt financing to achieve their financial goals.
Debt financing is raising operating capital by borrowing. Scott Equipment Organization is
investigating various combinations of short term and long term debt financing in financing their
assets. Short term debt financing has a maturity of one year or less; whereas, long term debt
financing has a maturity of more than one year. Short term debt is usually used to increase the
amount of available working capital that can assist the company with its day to day operations,
such as purchasing a required piece of equipment or to pay suppliers. ... Show more content on

For Scott Equipment to continue trading, they have to be in a position to meet their immediate
obligations.
Current Ratio Current ratio is type of liquidity ratio. It is a financial tool used to measure a
company s ability to pay off its short term debts with its short term assets. A company s current
ratio is expressed by dividing its current assets by its current liabilities. A higher current ratio
means the company is more capable of paying off its debts. If the current ratio is under one, this
suggests the company is unable to pay off its obligations if they were due at that point
(Investopedia, 2013). Companies that have trouble collecting money for its receivables or have
long inventory turnovers can run into liquidity problems because they are unable to lessen their
obligations.
In Scott Equipment s case all three financial policies show the company to be in good financial
health. Aggressive, moderate, and conservative show a current ratio of higher than one. However,
the conservative policy is the highest ratio meaning that the conservative approach has the most
liquidity and the greatest ability of paying off its short term debts with its short term assets.
Profitability VS Risk Risk is defined as the probability that a company will become insolvent and
will not be able to meet its obligations when they become due for payment. The profitability versus

The Administrative Principles of Management
The administrative principles of management, created in the early 20th century by French
industrialist Henri Fayol, changed the way that many view management. Fayol s principles focused
mainly on the management teams of businesses and helped establish a top to bottom hierarchal
system to produce a more structured organization (Brunsson, 2008; Yoo, Lemak, Choi, 2008; Fells,
2000). This essay will focus on four of the 14 key principles of administrative theory unity of
command, subordination of individual interest for the interest of the organization, esprit de corp.
and remuneration and analyze how they have been applied in a leading New Zealand company,
Pumpkin Patch Limited (Ltd.) (Samson Daft, 2009, p.64; Wren, Bedian, ... Show more content on

Although it has been adapted from Fayol s original idea, subordination of individual interest of
general interest, it is still present in Pumpkin Patch Ltd.
In a company that is downsizing, and even when it is not, Esprit de Corp is a principle that plays
a major factor in contemporary organizations today. Esprit de Corp is when a business creates, and
maintains, employee harmony, unity and morale (Fells, 2000; Rodrigues, 2001). This allows for a
happy working environment, and a happy employee means that they are more likely to achieve
productivity and efficiency outcomes. Pumpkin Patch Ltd. has adapted this to fit their family
environment that they feel the company has (Pumpkin Patch Limited, n.d.). The company believes
in a balance between work, leisure and flexibility as well as providing an in house kindergarten for
employees children (Pumpkin Patch Limited, n.d). This, although fairly minor, is a prime example
of how contemporary businesses have adapted one of the founding principles of management and
adapted it to fit their organization. As well as this Pumpkin Patch have organized their business into
teams such as the information technology (IT) team and the design team who are an integral part of
the organization in helping attain their goals and aims ( Brookes, et al., 2008). As Pumpkin Patch
has consistently produced profits, apart from the

Controversial Immigration Issues
A controversial Issue I like to get your attention on is about Immigration. Immigration is an issue
that has been on all media outlets, but now is more current and pressing issue because of our
current president speech, and views on Immigration. The data I plan on using for this paper are
news, social networks, and online articles. Like any other issue their people with conflicting
views when it comes to this topic. In this paper, I would like to address both for and opposing
views on this topic. Also, how ethics plays a role in social media when discussing Immigration.

Americas where slaves who were brought here against their will. America ... Show more content on

society, how most of the illegals are criminals. However, if fails to mention the immigrant side of
the story, and how certain events affects them, and what are their concerns. After reading, Reporting
Immigration by Stephen Franklin, it has given me some insight on how and what is told on media

A recent event that happen was a day without Immigrants. This happen recently on February 16,

Rachel Carson Silent Spring Summary
Rachel Carson s Silent Spring tries to convey the message that humans alter the environment by
using chemicals that enter water, food, soil, and many species, causing effects related to many
concepts in environmental science. Pesticides can get into water, one of our most precious
sources, which causes many effects. They can get into groundwater, which Carson states on page
40 that the majority of them most likely come from agricultural uses on farmlands, which are
brought to the water by rain (Carson, 1962). Carson on pages 46 through 50 talks about the
effects Clear Lake has received from DDD (Carson, 1962). Clear Lake was surveyed to calculate
how much of the insecticide could be added safely (Carson, 1962). Two treatments were provided,

Stereotypes Depicted In Nighthawks, By Sylvester Stallone
When Stallone wasn t boxing the entire country of Russia, he was busy fighting terrorists. He was
also busy being jealous of Rutger Hauer stealing the limelight and he retaliated by trimming
Rutgers scenes. That film was Nighthawks. Released in 1981, Nighthawks too seems like a lesser
known Stallone film, but for most of the people that watched it, they enjoy it. Shout! Factory seems
the potential in releasing the film on Blu ray, through their Shout! Select line (Number X for those
that are collecting), but unfortunately, we only get the theatrical cut. Nighthawks had quite a
troubled production, with fired directors, pouting action stars and jealous feelings. The end result

When him and his partner, Lando Calrissian, get reassigned to the anti terrorist squad, they learn
of the ruthless terrorist Wulfgar (Rutger Hauer), who has made his way to New York after
having done a little too much violence in London. In somewhat of a big coincidence, XXX is
able to figure out what Wulfgar looks like and tracks him down to a nightclub. A pretty intense
chase scene takes place and now Rutger s identity is compromised. What is a terrorist supposed to
do then? Why, hijack a tramcar full of UN delegates, of course.
Nighthawks burns slow and isn t as over the top in action as one would think. It takes it s time to
establish Rutger Hauer as a ruthless killer, with hardly a conscience. Rutger is phenomenal in this
movie and it s easy to see why action star Stallone would have been jealous of him.
The original cut of Nighthawks was much more violent and featured more scenes of Rutger s
character, but after some behind the scenes trimming, the final result was a nearly bloodless
action flick, that still keeps the viewer interested. It s interesting to know that one of the main
reasons for director XXX getting let go from the film was Stallone s refusal to let a woman be
discussed as another woman in the flick. Instead, Stallone said he wanted to do it, which gave us
this wonderful image to burn into our brains

So is Batman morally and ethically right to let the Joker live? Or should he kill the

and use concrete (and imaginative) terms for your make believe world.
5. Understand how to connect your argument for Batman s school of ethics to a larger so what?
factor beyond The Dark Knight. Consider how your ideas on Batman s ethics relate to your own
personal ethics. For example: While I have argued that Batman s Kantian point of view would not
allow him to kill the Joker, I have realised that I m also supporting my own personal belief system.
It s interesting that my personal opinion on right and wrong can actually turn into a fully formed
idea if I support it with evidence and fully examine it from different angles.

Analysis Of Emma Amos s Sandy And Her Husband
Emma Amos seems like your typical woman with the household duties she upholds. Amos grew up
in Atlanta, where she was surrounded by middle class African Americans. As a mother, she focused
on sewing, weaving, and quilting. Her artwork displays the issues she struggled with as being a
black artist. The artwork Sandy and her Husband portray Emma Amos tuck in the painting
overlooking a man and a womanembracing each other s body in a living room. Amos s artwork
wanted people to see a story being shared. Even though she was a black female artist, her paintings
expressed the concerns of politics, gender, race, and cultural history. Emma s artwork was very
impressive. She was invited to be apart of the Spiral collective. The spiral... Show more content on

In the article Emma Amos: Art as Legacy by Lisa E. Farrington composes of Amos s life as an
artist, how she got there, and what she wanted to accomplish as an individual. The spiral collective
which was mentioned earlier was a black and white group started by Woodruff, Romare Bearden
and other eye catching African Americanartists. Despite the fact that this movement did not last
long, it still shaped a movement. Two years after being found, they decided to put up an art
exhibit. Amos composed a naked portrait of a woman. This portrait was interpreted as a woman
without beauty but with confrontational power. Regardless of that the spiral collective was
successful it did result with international philosophical conflicts. People also argued whether the
group should be interracial or not. When talking about color in art it is a very important tool. In
the article it states Color has a very personal significance for all African American people and
this significance also underlies Amos s work. This is a true statement, because Amos uses
vibrant or bold colors in most of her paintings. On the other hand, Amos does not like to be
known as a woman of color. When Amos came to New York City she realized that New York
artists were for males. Even though she worked with male artists in spiral she still felt
downgraded. After spiral ended she decided to go on her own path. Her style in her artwork was
very interesting because

Ghost Of The Past By George Santayana
Ghost of the Past George Santayana once stated, Those who fail to learn from history are
doomed to repeat it . James Gatz, or better known as Jay Gatsby has lived solely to persuade the
love of his life, Daisy Buchanan, into loving him. He and Daisy had a past relationship, but he
could not fully provide her with the satisfaction of marrying a wealthy man who could support
her needs. Like many others, The Great War separated them from their love, Gatsby was called
to action and Daisy took her own action by marrying a wealthy man named Tom Buchanan.
Gatsby was heartbroken when he returned to find Daisy had left without him. He devoted his
life to her from then on until his death and she knew he would do anything for her. When Gatsby
had found Daisy again he was reintroduced to her by her cousin Nick Carraway. Nick and Gatsby
grew closer together, not only because they neighbored each other, but because Gatsby was Nick
s goal. Nick wanted to create his own life and wealth much like Gatsby and his curiosity of how he
became well off created room for what lead to Gatsby s death. F. Scott Fitzgeraldrecorded the novel
as a parallel of his life. His life would not have been the same if he had not endured the 1920 s.
The state of despair the nation was in caused the generation that came to age, to be coined the Lost
Generation . The disillusionment of this generation caused Gatsby to believe that he could hold
Daisy once more. F. Scott Fitzgerald proves that the past is

Diet to High Risk Patients For the Prevention or Treatment of Non Communicable or Chronic
Diseases?
David Arthur, MS, PA S
The term non communicable disease refers to set of chronic, slowly progressing, long duration
illnesses that are not infectious and are responsible for more deaths globally than any other
cause.1 In 2011, in most high and middle income countries, non communicable diseases were
responsible for more deaths than all other causes combined.1 These same chronic diseases are also
referred to as lifestyle diseases by some practitioners, as they are recognized as having lifestyle
choice as primary risk factors, and possibly, treatment modalities centered around lifestyle
modification.2 The four primary non communicable diseases, as identified by the World Health
Organization, are cardiovascular disease, malignant neoplasm, respiratory disease, and diabetes
mellitus.3 The power of lifestyle choices to effectively address some of the most vexing chronic
diseases of our time is well established.4 Adherence to four healthy lifestyle tenets not smoking, not
being obese, getting at least thirty minutes of moderate activity per day, and eating a diet
consisting primarily of vegetables, fruit, and whole grains, may have the net effect of addressing
the primary sources of disease and death in western society.4 Strictly adhering to each of these

Project A: The elemental exploration of the behavior of iron in physiological conditions, the
acquisition of solid copper from a salt and salt solution, and the synthesis and crystallization of
aluminum.
Introduction: Iron is an essential element in the human body. It can be found in the hemoglobin
and transferrin of the bloodstream, and in myoglobin in muscle tissue. The main purpose of iron
is to transfer oxygen within the body. To gain iron, humans must consume a diet that consist
abundantly of iron such as leaf vegetables, fish, beans, etc. Absorption of iron is especially
important because less than 15% of iron in daily diets are absorbed and used (Jacobs 1971). The

Because synthesis requires multiple steps to make a desired reaction, the yield is lower than other
synthesis. On the first day, if the substances have a significant amount of precipitate, then the
substance will require a greater number of drops of sodium hydroxide than substances with an
insignificant amount of substrate. On the second day, if the starting reactants affect the yield of the
product then obtaining solid copper from a salt will result in a greater yield. If aluminum foil is the
limiting reactant of the experiment, then the percent yield will increase as the amount of foil
increases.
Materials/Methods:
Project A, Day 1
In Part 1, 50 milliliters of 5% sodium hydroxide solution was obtained and observed in a 100 mL
beaker and 30 milliliters of pH 2 dissolved iron solution was also obtained and observed in a 50 mL
beaker. To observe the behavior of dissolved iron with sodium hydroxide, 5 milliliters of pH 2

Judaism Vs Christianity Research Paper
Christianity at the start of it all was basically a faction trying to break away from Judaism. A
major difference between Judaism and Christianity is their view on Jesus. Christians believe that
Jesus is the Messiah, while Judaism does not (Page 303). Christians believed that Jesus was born in
Bethlehem, this follows the Old Testament that the Messiah was born in Bethlehem. Some scholars
have come forward and said that they are lead to believe that Jesuswas born in Nazareth. Which
according to Judaismwould mean that Jesus is not the Messiah (Page 287 288). Since these two
communities did not agree on this, Christianitybranched off and became its own religion. A huge

The Injury Of A Knee Injury
There are many 206 bones in the human body, but three main bones that make up our ankle. The
three main bones that make up our ankle are the tibia, which is the shinbone, the fibula, which is
the smaller bone on the leg, and the talus, which is a small bone that sits between the calcaneus,
the tibia, and the fibula. The inside part of the tibia is called the medial malleolus. The back part
of the tibia is called the posterior malleolus. The end of the fibula is called the lateral malleolus.
There are two main joints in the ankle. One of the joints is the ankle joint. The ankle joint is where
the tibia, fibula, and talus meet. The other main joint is called the syndesmosis joint. This is the
joint that is between the tibia and fibula. When an ankle does not heal correctly, it is called a
nonunion.
There are many ways to cause an ankle injury. Twisting or rolling an ankle can create ankle injuries.
Tripping over something or falling down can also cause ankle injuries. There are many ways to
tell if an ankle is broken. These symptoms are severe pain, swelling, colored bruising, unable to
put any weight on it, or dislocation. If someone has these symptoms, they should go see a

Midnight Judges Dbq
In 1800, the Era of Federalist powers over the government finally changed hands to the Democratic
Republicans. Thomas Jefferson s election in 1800 signaled the rise of the Republican party, and the
soon to be demise of the Federalist party, with many judiciary conflicts to come between.
The Judiciary Act of 1801 was an important point of conflict between the Federalists and
republicans during the 19th century, causing heightened tension during the change of party hands,
and ultimately leading to the establishment of judiciary review. On his very last day of presidency,
John Adams commissioned 16 new Federalist judges (also called midnight judges in reference to
his last minute timing) to balance the incoming influx of Republican power in congress. In
Republican eyes, the Judiciary Act was a pathetic final attempt by the Federalist party to establish
itself in one of the three branches of government. Jeffersonians condemned the act, and it was
immediately repealed the year after its passage. The repeal of the Judiciary Act took out 16

Marbury, one of the midnight judges of 1801, was named a justice of peace for the District of
Columbia, but he soon learned that his commission was being put off by James Madison. So, he

easily reject his ruling for his Federalist friend and lessen the power of the Judicial branch at the
same time. He dismissed Marbury s case, but also said that the basis of Marbury s argument the
Judiciary Act of 1789 was unconstitutional, thus establishing the establishing the principle of
judiciary review, the principle by which courts can declare acts of either the executive branch or the

Nontraditional Charcters in The Awakening by Kate Chopin...
Kate Chopin uses dynamic characters to help create Edna Pontillier. By using Mr. Pontillier, Edna s
children, and Madame Ratignolle to contrast Edna; and Robert, Madame Raisz, and Arobin as
supporting characters to Edna s untraditional ambitions Kate Chopin produces an independent,
unconventional woman. While some characters contrast to Edna all of the characters in The
Awakening help to illuminate Edna s opposition to Creole tradition. Without the use of supporting
and contrasting characters Edna would have never been able to fly above tradition. With a husband
and two children at the age of twenty eight, Edna Pontillier realized that the mother wifelife was not

Since Madame Ratignolle and Edna are classified under the same group of women, Madame
Ratignolle makes Mrs. Pontillier look like a floozy. Madame Ratignolle is also a contributing
factor to Mrs. Pontillier s life ending decision. Adele, pressing her cheek, whispered in an
exhausted voice: Think of the children, Edna. Oh think of the children! Remember them! (pg.
182) This declaration that Madame Ratignolle makes as Edna is leaving aids her in thinking
about the children and what they deserved as well as what she deserved. In The Awakening
Robert and Mademoiselle Reisz are the first people who truly extract Edna s sexuality and
independence. Rather than socialize with all the men in the Creole Society Robert chooses to
spend his time with Mrs. Pontillier and Madame Ratignolle. Many people, including Madame
Ratignolle, could see the sensual tension between Robert and Edna. Do me a favor, Robert... I
only ask for one; let Mrs. Pontillier alone. (pg. 35) Although Robert leaves Grand Isle in order to
save Mrs. Pontillier he is a predominate factor in why she openly begins to abandon the Creole
Society. Robert is the first character in the story to accept and appreciate Edna s free spirit and
open mind. He helps teach her how to swim and shows the affection and support that she has
been looking for. Robert is able to extract Edna s rebellious because she falls in love with him.
This is seen when in Mademoiselle Reisz and Edna s conversation. Why do you love him when

Therefore, sustainable tourism should include 3 aspects. First of all, we should make optimal use of
environmental resources in order to developing and maintaining essential ecological processes. It
also helps to conserve natural heritage and biodiversity. Secondly, we should respect the socio
cultural of host communities by conserving their built and living cultural heritage. Moreover, we
also should respect their traditional value, and contribute to inter cultural understanding. Lastly, we
should consider the long term economic operations by providing socio economic benefits to all
stakeholders that are distributed. We should create stable employment for local people and
opportunities to earn income. In addition, we also need to provide some social services to host

Based on the definition of mass tourism and sustainable tourism, we could say that mass tourism is
unsustainable. Anna Pollock from the article Six Reason Why Mass Tourism Is Unsustainable have
come up with six reasons to prove that mass tourism is unsustainable. The first reason is because
one product is substitutable for another. The mass tourism about distribution and consumption of
packaged products. When the local people see the tourist interesting in something, they will focus

The First Childhood Memories Of The Holocaust
The creation of memoirs by writers who have gone through traumatic experiences, or just
experiences that are worth remembering are necessary for humanity to move forward. Ranging
from the first childbirth creating a new mother, to survivors of one of the greatest terrors in
history: the Holocaust, memories are required to be recorded for the sake of mankind. Memories
are valuable in the fact that they can be lost so easily and forgotten that they ever existed. There
are things that you have said, things that others have said, experiences you ve lived through that
you will never remember again, as if it never happened. Days that you can t even recall the simplest

Memories replicated are never the same, and only a waste of time, because no situation can ever
be exactly the same and produce the exact outcome more than once. Memories are never truly

back into thinking. Memories are never replaced, just layered as new memories occur during

beyond the veil of remembrance. Flashing back to memories more than a decade and a half

their memories start to fade, the memories left behind have more value because there s so little

Compare The Relationship Between William Wordsworth And I...
From my reading of both the Grasmere Journals written by Dorothy Wordsworth and also the
poem I wandered lonely as a cloud written by William Wordsworth, I believe that there is a strong
relationship between the two. I think that both William and his sister Dorothy experienced the same
relationship with the Daffodil s they saw. The only difference is that William expressed his
experience through poetry while Dorothy expressed hers through diaryentries. From the evidence
we have with the dates of when both were written, I believe William wrote his poem based on
Dorothy s journals. I would be of the opinion that Dorothy s journals were written from her
experience alone while Williams s poem was written under the influence of Dorothy s Grasmere...

Much of Dorothy s diary entries include reflective moments in her life. As Sara Crangle said
[T]here is much of this solitary, reflective image that can be transposed to the larger depiction of
Wordsworth s life. Dorothy s journals are mostly written either at the beginning of the day or in
the evening. This time of day is when she is either reflecting on the day gone by or thinking
about the day ahead. As she is often out walking with William or Coleridge it is probable that
she is reflecting on these events quite a lot. On May 14th she writes I sate a long time upon a

how after she reflects she becomes happier. Reflection is a sense of relief for her. This sense of
relief shows how significant writing diary entries are for her. They are her escape where she can be

The Importance Of Creole Women In The Twentieth Century
Throughout history, women always had a specific role that they had to play. Whether it is being
a good mother or taking care of children, they had different duties compared to men. This cultural
expectation still exists today in many different countries. Women are expected to fulfill tasks that
seem unsuitable for men, and if they did not complete it then they would be deemed as a bad
mother and society would think that they are rebellious and useless for not being able to
complete simple tasks. They would also be scrutinized if they are not like everyone else. This
applies to Creole women living in America during the early twentieth century. Women during that
time period are prevented from having the freedom to explore and self evaluate. As a result of that,
they cannot grow as a person. This is shown in the two novels Antigone by Kate Chopin and Their
Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. The cultural expectation of a woman
s behavior in
the early twentieth century prevents women from growing because they are expected to behave a
certain way while being unable to express their true self.
In the early twentieth century, Creole women had specific tasks that they needed to perform which
held them back from exploring. They were expected to be a good wife that stayed at home to
complete chores, take care of children, and do everything that a typical mother would do. Some
had jobs working at a factory, but most of the time women were just stay at home moms. One

The future may be uncertain that injects fear into the minds of some people. When it comes to me,

Conformity Is The Most Popular Form Of Conformity
As Dr. Seuss once said, Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don t matter
and those who matter don t mind. Through this quote, the foundation of conformity is uprooted
from its murky hovel and is disputed with. Despite, though, how many people preach these words,
they still succumb to the mind numbing effects without even realizing it, because they are not fully
aware of the causes of this topic. That is why one needs to understand the causes of conformity
before preventing the effects. The three causes of conformity include: changing how one acts to
avoid the rejection of their peers, depending on other people s opinions because they are oblivious
to a certain topic, and conforming to something based on social characteristics. Changing how one
acts to fit in better with a group, or normative conformity, is the most popular form of conformity
in the world today. According to Philip G. Zimbardo, a Professor of Psychologyat Stanford
University: Normative Conformity, is when we are concerned about making a good impression
in front of a group. Though we may disagree secretly with the group opinion, we may verbally
adopt the group stance so that we seem like a team player rather than a deviant. When a child

For the critical essay assignment I specifically chose the building called the Rufus Stillman House.
The House is located in Litchfield, Connecticut and was built in 1950 by the architect Marcel

They became acquainted when Breuer s work of his demonstration housethat was on display in a

Breuer to design a modern house for their property in Litchfield. The Stillman House was the
resulting structure.
The structure was built in 1950 and is known as Stillman House I. The design of the house
brought together the mix of modern style and Colonial Revival, the house is considered to be mid
century modern style while it was built in a town that is primarily used to Colonial Revival style.
The house contains an outdoor swimming pool with a mural painted by Breuer s friend, Alexander
Calder. The Stillman sold this house, the original, when they moved into the second home that
Breuer built for them, called Stillman II, and then decided to purchase it back and continue to
reside there. Breuer built two other houses for them, along with this one, however, Stillman I

have been very rough. Many African Americans were brought to America in 1619 involuntary,
until the end of slavery in 1808. The first group of African immigrates was in August of 1619, and
only consisted of 20 voluntary immigrants. This group was placed in Jamestown where they
worked off their debts. Once these voluntary immigrants were finished working off their debts they
became masters. However, Millions of African Americans were forced into slavery and moved to
the United States. Many of the immigrants from other groups recreated the society they left behind,
but sadly Africans were not allowed to. These other groups of immigrants were allowed to use
education to better themselves and their children but Africans weren t allowed to. In the south, the
State law made it a criminal offense to educate slaves. In earlier societies Slavery wasn t
uncommon, the ancient civilization did not link skin color with social status. Racism Didn t start
until the 16th and 17th centuries which was the period Europeans started to explore. This was the

The Way Back Then People With Disabilities
Way back then people with disabilities weren t able to have jobs or not even be able to be
transportation. Where they had needed to go and they had fought through it and they got
together with the government and now they have sidewalk for the people in wheel chairs and
the people who are blind they have like service dogs. And like where they have the hospitals and
under the door number the have like little dots for the blind can read it by touching the little dots.
They people that do that for the deaf did a smart thing and helped them out because the people

disabled kids with a college tuition or something like that to help them because they probably
don t have the money to get into it or didn t have the money. Some people think that the disabled
people can t do anything but they re wrong like what I read some man couldn t walk and he
would workout and everything and so he was about to graduate from college and they were
walking the stage and he had wanted to walk the stage and they helped him and he did it he
walked the stage without his wheelchair. That made this topic interesting because some people
not all people only some thought the disabled people weren t able to do anything and all the
disabled people want to do is prove the, wrong and that s good because the disabled people
shouldn t be treated differently then the people that is disabled. The are starting to recognize it.
They have accommodation such as ramps and home health care, scooters, prosthetic legs and
programs that help the blind read. Now they also have programs

Amy Bloom s Silver Water
In Amy Bloom s short story, Silver Water , the main character Rose takes her own life as a result
to living with mental illness. Throughout the story the narrator, Rose s sister, shows the difficulties
of living with mental illness not only for Rose s family, but also for Rose. A common obstacle for
the familyis getting Rose proper care; this is difficult because the family could not find long term
insuranceor doctor. In Silver Water , Amy Bloom makes a point about how mental illness
is treated;
the specific point she makes is that mental illness is not taken as seriously as it should be. This
is shown through how difficult it is for Rose to receive proper treatment. One of the first
examples of mistreatment is that in Silver Water Rose is pulled from her halfway home and is
taken off of her medicine so that her family could switch to an insurance that can better support
the long term treatment she needs. This leaves her parents struggling to take care of her at home
while she is nowhere close to stable. This is going to be difficult not all bad, but difficult for the
whole family...(Bloom 3) The narrator goes off to college while her parents take care of Rose.
Through phone calls from her parents the narrator sees how much of a toll taking care of Rose
is on her parents and how her behavior gets worse. Roses behavior goes downhill because she is
taken off of her medication to prove she has a mental illness. As a result, Rose gets so bad that she

Theory Of The Principle Agent Problem
In American politics, there are multiple examples of the phenomena known as the principle agent
problem. A principle agent problem is when a person (the principal) hires another person (the
agent) to perform a job that the principle cannot do themselves. However, the agent in these
situations may go against the wishes of the principle for their own benefit, making the whole
exchange a risk for the principle. In everyday life, an example of a principle agent problem is
when a person hires a mechanic. They hire a mechanic because they don t have the knowledge, or
the ability, to do the job. Unfortunately, the mechanic is aware of this, and may try to get more
compensation by charging for more than is actually required. In the American political system, a
specific example of the principle agent is the relationship between the heads of the Central
Intelligence Agencyand the agents they employ.
In an arrangement between the Central Intelligence Agency and an agent that they wish to hire, the
CIA compensates the agent with the expectation that the agent will perform their required task, act
covertly, and protect the United States of America. However, the agent may defect by giving other
nations information that they deem is important, or acting in some other way that may compromise
our country, so that the defecting agent could receive some sort of compensation. Although
defectors are rather rare (as far as we know), when an agent does defect, it has serious consequences

Analysis Of Mulan
The Ordinary World : In the 1998 film, Mulan, the ordinary world for the main character, Mulan,
is a world where she is not accepted for who she is. In her town, women must be ladylike and
find a husband at an early age. Mulan is an independent girl who is tomboyish and clumsy; the
opposite of what is expected of her. In Mulan s society being able to be the perfect woman and be
pretty, smart, and graceful brings honor to one s family, but Mulan cannot seem to fit these
standards which makes her family disappointed. This is shown well in the scene with the
matchmaker. Mulan s mother has people come and dress mulan in fine garments, has her
makeup done, and her hair put up in a beautiful style. She is taught the correct things to say and
do towards the matchmaker and her grandmother even gives her a lucky cricket to make sure
things will go well. But, in the end mulan ends up spilling tea on the matchmaker and being told
she is a disgrace to her family. Overall in the ordinary world Mulan tries to fit into society s mold
to make her parents proud, but in the end fails to act like the person she is not.
First Threshold : After Mulan steals her father s sword and armor to leave her home and go fight
in the war in her call to adventure she reaches the first threshold. For Mulan this is the training
camp for the Chinese Army. Mulan is surrounded by only men while she must pretend to be a man
herself, which is very difficult considering she has been taught her whole life to be a

The Relationship Between Frida Kahlo And Diego Rivera
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, two Mexican artists, entered into a consensually non
monogamous relationship. Frida was very well aware that it was not in Diego to be a
monogamous man. We know this because she answered the question of why she puts up with his
affairs like this; Look, Diego is how he is, and that is how I love him. I cannot love him for what
he is not. (Clancy Sigal). These relationships are basically ways to engage in sex outside of the
relationship but they differ from cheating because the partner is aware. Different types of non
monogamous relationships include partner swapping, swinging and polyamory (Pappas). Studies
are just beginning to be started about consensual non monogamy, but there is some evidence that

Going back to the toast at Frida and Diego s wedding, marriage was stated to be a political act that
occurred in the name of tradition. Monogamy is also enforced by culture, economics, social
factors and it is the normal thing to do (Robinson). As we saw in the movie, Frida s mother was
highly opposed to her marriage to Diego because he had been divorced twice already and because
he was a Communist; her fear was that he would not be good to Frida. Even in society today, when
a man and woman are not monogamous, they are frowned upon or referred to in derogatory terms.
Research shows that promiscuity raised the likelihood of reproduction and survival, but monogamy
worked where there was a low female to male ratio, limiting men s options (Borreli, Are Humans
Naturally Monogamous?).
Until Diego crossed the boundaries of having sex with Frida s sister, their relationship seemed to
work for them. Borreli noted that researchers found non monogamous people have specific
differences in how their brain responded to reward, described as a cheater s high, attributed to
mutations in receptor genes that respond to the hormone vasopressin. Maybe Diego really was on
to something when he told Frida he was physically incapable of being

An Unquiet Mind Reflection
Reflection of the Book An Unquiet Mind In her book, An Unquiet Mind, Kay Jamison instills
an understanding of bipolar disorder from two opposing perspectives. Initially, Jameson tells a
tale of herself as a long term victim of bipolar. It is from her description that a reader is
highlighted about the various avenues through which the condition attacks. Besides exploring
the disorder as the victim, the book as well depicts Jamison as the healed. That is, she gives an
account of her life as an individual who survived the grips of bipolar disorder and became a
healer (psychotherapist and a lecturer) instead. Reflecting on Jamison s work An Unquiet Mind
automatically triggers the desire of the reader to unearth more about the author, her context, and
diagnosis of the bipolar disorder. The Enjoyable Aspect It is impossible not to enjoy An Unquiet
Mind based on how it explores the topics that people suffering from bipolar disorder tend not to
touch. That is, Jamison employs the writing to tell people about her life as a victim of a mental
health condition that is characterized by stigma everywhere. In depicting such an account, the
author explores the actual nature of the disease, how it affects its victims, and how victims can
fight it. Basically, the storyline gives a lifeline to people who suffer from bipolar disorder, and
who have lost hope in achieving their dreams in life. The most fulfilling aspect of the reading
features the fact that the author is able to identify a problem and at the same time offer a
practical solution to the problem from a personal perspective, something that is rare to come by
in real life medical practicing. Simply put, it is enjoyable to read Jamison s An Unquiet Mind.
Diagnoses The reading offers lessons about the diagnosis of bipolar disorder primarily. To a
reader, placing emphasis on Jamison s diagnosis can lead to answers about curing the condition,
which is the goal of any interested individual. It is worth noting that Jamison was diagnosed with
bipolar II disorder. Such an assertion follows her own revelation that she suffered from the
condition often, and in a long periodic duration while growing up (Jamison, 1995). Further, bipolar
II disorder is characterized by instances

The Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) is responsible for controlling all air traffic in the U.S. When
the carelessness of an FAA employee causes an airplane accident, plaintiffs must sue under the
Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA). The FTCA sets forth special rules and procedures that must be
followed when suing an employee of the federal government. Legal Defenses Defendants in
airplane crash litigation may respond to a legal claim by asserting many of the defenses that are
available in a typical negligence or product liability case. Operators of smaller aircraft for private
use have an additional defense. The General Aviation Revitalization Act of 1994 bars lawsuits
against the manufacturer of a small (less than 20 seats), private airplane if the accident involved
an airplane or part that has been in service for 18 years or more. Federal Assistance for Families
of Airplane Crash Victims The Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Act of 1996 requires the
federal government to provide support to families of victims in major airplane crashes or accidents,
places certain duties on the airline, and limits attorney solicitation of airplane crash victims.
Responsibilities of the Airline The Act also places duties on the airline involved in the crash.
Among other things, the airline must: establish a toll free telephone line for families of

Fairytales are not what they seem. Essay
INTRO
Sex. Pure unadulterated sex. When we think of sex, it is not usually in the context of a fairytale.
Fairytales are for children, virgin ears. Over the years, fairytales have been cleaned up for young
ears we have become accustomed to the bland Disney versions of tales. How many of us can
recount a version separate from the animated classics of our childhood? It is truly hard to believe
that sometimes there are much more racy versions of these same tales.
Today, I d like to share one such variation of Little Red Riding Hoodcalled In the Company of

She has been loved too much to know how to be scared.
It was the middle of winter, and the silence of the woods seemed to close down upon our heroine
like a pair of jaws. Suddenly she heard a distant howl of a wolf, and she sprang to the handle of a
well concealed knife, but nobody was there. Suddenly, a clamor among the bushed produced a
fully clothed and very handsome young man holding a very large rifle. They walked along the
worn path for some time together laughing like old friends. It was only a mere half mile to go till
the warmth and safety of her grandmother s house when the dashing young stranger proposed a
bet. He insisted that with the help of a compass, he would surely make it to the grandmother s
house before she would on the path. A game was made of it, and if he won, he was to have a kiss.
At the mention of the kiss, Little Red lowered her eyes and blushed, commonplace of rustic
seduction. Although it was getting dark, she wanted to dawdle on her way so that the handsome
gentleman would win his wager. She forgot to be afraid of the beasts.
TR*: It was this wager that was to signal the end of innocence for our young heroine.
The handsome young man arrived at grandmother s house first with a trace of blood on his chin. He
knocked on the door with his hairy knuckles and announced himself in high soprano as her
granddaughter. After entering he removed his disguise, and granny could see his matted hair
streaming down his white shirt, lice moving within it.

the most challenging issues that every kind of organizations is dealing with now aday.
Organizational behaviour is the study of individual, group and organization as a whole that

Symbols In Anthony Doerr s All The Light We Cannot See
The novel All The Light We Cannot See, was written by Anthony Doerr. The novel was set
during World War Two era and features two parallel stories with characters from opposite points
of view. Doers tells the story of how both characters grow up through adversity and how they
overcome their personal struggles. Marie Laure is one of the main characters. She goes blind and
has to learn how to navigate life alone after he father leaves her in the care of her Uncle Etienne.
Werner, the second main character, overcame being an orphan and makes a life decision based
upon his worst fear. Both characters, though living separate but parallel lives, share similar life
experiences that are connected with numerous symbolic objects. Throughout the novelDoerr uses
symbolic objects to create a connection for the reader between Werner and Marie Laure. Doerr s
use of this method to bridge the characters together is done so with the use of several items such
as the radio, shells and mollusks, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the Sea of Flames.
The radio was a major symbol throughout the novel. It played a large role in Werner and Marie
Laure s lives. It was because of the radio that brought the two together. The radio symbolizes the
connection that it give to the people of the world. In All the Lights We Cannot See, radios were
illegal. They were illegal because it gave people the ability to communicate with allies in hopes of
rebelling against the Nazis. The people saw this as a chance to

If the service provider is uncomfortable with this inquiry there may be business reason why
their service is not intended for data migration. A gray area in many assessment service
agreements is defining the deliverable; i.e. hard copy reports. If the deliverable is a PDF, then the
electronic records may be retained for leverage by the service provider, or if they offer their data;
it may be unusable. Drilling down into the detail here can save organizations thousands of dollars in
re inspection expenses.
Preventing Lost Electronic Records
Building owners have realized the value of inspection records in some cases only after
terminating a service provider. Then, finding the service provider demanded a significant fee to
transfer the electronic records, the transfer request was ignored, or the data which was the
centerpiece of expensive multiple year service agreement was upon closer inspection, kept in a
unusable data format, or was built specifically for the firm using it.
Historical inspection records save data entry costs when as built information is in place. The facility
sizes, construction types, sizes rarely change. Once documented, structured correctly, updating
conditions can be done in less than half the time required to set up the original database. When
surveys and condition assessments cost thousands of dollars, there is a good reason to insure
inspection information

Analysis Of George Orwell s Narrator In Shooting An Elephant
Fitting In: Orwell s Narrator in Shooting an Elephant
Since the publication of George Orwell s, Shooting an Elephant in 1936 many philosophers have
engaged in conversation about humanity, violence, politics, power, dominance, race, culture and
principles. Orwell was in fact a genius plain and simple, though in a very complicated way
(Firchow 94). George Orwell brings you into his essay with lucid and vivid details the entire way
starting from the setting, I remember that it was a cloudy, stuffy morning at the beginning of the
rains, (25) to the characters attitudes towards one another, if a European woman went through the
bazaars alone somebody would probably spit betel juice over her dress (23). The essay starts with
the narrator, whom we assume is Orwell, a white man working as a sub divisional police officer in
Moulmein, Burma where the British have a colonized. Being English, the narrator Orwell is hated
by many of the natives, When a nimble Burman tripped me up on the football field and the referee
(another Burman) looked the other way, the crowd yelled with hideous laughter (Orwell 23). One
morning, Orwell receives a call about an elephant ram sacking the town and even killing a native
Burman. Ultimately forcing Orwell into a dilemma of his own morality of what he ought to do and
trying not to let down the immense crowd of yellow faces (26). Orwell shoots the elephant
essentially killing him. The elephants death shows the complex range of human

Scott Equipment Organization Scott Equipment Organization Jaime Grettenberg FIN 419 February 25, 2013 Kristine Donnelly Scott Equipment Organization Many businesses use debt financing to achieve their financial goals. Debt financing is raising operating capital by borrowing. Scott Equipment Organization is investigating various combinations of short term and long term debt financing in financing their assets. Short term debt financing has a maturity of one year or less; whereas, long term debt financing has a maturity of more than one year. Short term debt is usually used to increase the amount of available working capital that can assist the company with its day to day operations, such as purchasing a required piece of equipment or to pay suppliers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Scott Equipment to continue trading, they have to be in a position to meet their immediate obligations. Current Ratio Current ratio is type of liquidity ratio. It is a financial tool used to measure a company s ability to pay off its short term debts with its short term assets. A company s current ratio is expressed by dividing its current assets by its current liabilities. A higher current ratio means the company is more capable of paying off its debts. If the current ratio is under one, this suggests the company is unable to pay off its obligations if they were due at that point (Investopedia, 2013). Companies that have trouble collecting money for its receivables or have long inventory turnovers can run into liquidity problems because they are unable to lessen their obligations. In Scott Equipment s case all three financial policies show the company to be in good financial health. Aggressive, moderate, and conservative show a current ratio of higher than one. However, the conservative policy is the highest ratio meaning that the conservative approach has the most liquidity and the greatest ability of paying off its short term debts with its short term assets. Profitability VS Risk Risk is defined as the probability that a company will become insolvent and will not be able to meet its obligations when they become due for payment. • 7. The Administrative Principles of Management The administrative principles of management, created in the early 20th century by French industrialist Henri Fayol, changed the way that many view management. Fayol s principles focused mainly on the management teams of businesses and helped establish a top to bottom hierarchal system to produce a more structured organization (Brunsson, 2008; Yoo, Lemak, Choi, 2008; Fells, 2000). This essay will focus on four of the 14 key principles of administrative theory unity of command, subordination of individual interest for the interest of the organization, esprit de corp. and remuneration and analyze how they have been applied in a leading New Zealand company, Pumpkin Patch Limited (Ltd.) (Samson Daft, 2009, p.64; Wren, Bedian, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it has been adapted from Fayol s original idea, subordination of individual interest of general interest, it is still present in Pumpkin Patch Ltd. In a company that is downsizing, and even when it is not, Esprit de Corp is a principle that plays a major factor in contemporary organizations today. Esprit de Corp is when a business creates, and maintains, employee harmony, unity and morale (Fells, 2000; Rodrigues, 2001). This allows for a happy working environment, and a happy employee means that they are more likely to achieve productivity and efficiency outcomes. Pumpkin Patch Ltd. has adapted this to fit their family environment that they feel the company has (Pumpkin Patch Limited, n.d.). The company believes in a balance between work, leisure and flexibility as well as providing an in house kindergarten for employees children (Pumpkin Patch Limited, n.d). This, although fairly minor, is a prime example of how contemporary businesses have adapted one of the founding principles of management and adapted it to fit their organization. As well as this Pumpkin Patch have organized their business into teams such as the information technology (IT) team and the design team who are an integral part of the organization in helping attain their goals and aims ( Brookes, et al., 2008). He was also busy being jealous of Rutger Hauer stealing the limelight and he retaliated by trimming Rutgers scenes. That film was Nighthawks. Released in 1981, Nighthawks too seems like a lesser known Stallone film, but for most of the people that watched it, they enjoy it. Shout! Factory seems the potential in releasing the film on Blu ray, through their Shout! Select line (Number X for those that are collecting), but unfortunately, we only get the theatrical cut. In somewhat of a big coincidence, XXX is able to figure out what Wulfgar looks like and tracks him down to a nightclub. A pretty intense chase scene takes place and now Rutger s identity is compromised. What is a terrorist supposed to do then? Why, hijack a tramcar full of UN delegates, of course. Nighthawks burns slow and isn t as over the top in action as one would think. It takes it s time to establish Rutger Hauer as a ruthless killer, with hardly a conscience. Rutger is phenomenal in this movie and it s easy to see why action star Stallone would have been jealous of him. The original cut of Nighthawks was much more violent and featured more scenes of Rutger s character, but after some behind the scenes trimming, the final result was a nearly bloodless action flick, that still keeps the viewer interested. It s interesting to know that one of the main reasons for director XXX getting let go from the film was Stallone s refusal to let a woman be discussed as another woman in the flick. Instead, Stallone said he wanted to do it, which gave us this wonderful image to burn into our brains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The spiral collective which was mentioned earlier was a black and white group started by Woodruff, Romare Bearden and other eye catching African Americanartists. Despite the fact that this movement did not last long, it still shaped a movement. Two years after being found, they decided to put up an art exhibit. Amos composed a naked portrait of a woman. This portrait was interpreted as a woman without beauty but with confrontational power. Regardless of that the spiral collective was successful it did result with international philosophical conflicts. People also argued whether the group should be interracial or not. When talking about color in art it is a very important tool. In the article it states Color has a very personal significance for all African American people and this significance also underlies Amos s work. This is a true statement, because Amos uses vibrant or bold colors in most of her paintings. On the other hand, Amos does not like to be known as a woman of color. When Amos came to New York City she realized that New York artists were for males. Even though she worked with male artists in spiral she still felt downgraded. He and Daisy had a past relationship, but he could not fully provide her with the satisfaction of marrying a wealthy man who could support her needs. Like many others, The Great War separated them from their love, Gatsby was called to action and Daisy took her own action by marrying a wealthy man named Tom Buchanan. Gatsby was heartbroken when he returned to find Daisy had left without him. He devoted his life to her from then on until his death and she knew he would do anything for her. When Gatsby had found Daisy again he was reintroduced to her by her cousin Nick Carraway. Nick and Gatsby grew closer together, not only because they neighbored each other, but because Gatsby was Nick s goal. Nick wanted to create his own life and wealth much like Gatsby and his curiosity of how he became well off created room for what lead to Gatsby s death. F. Introduction: Iron is an essential element in the human body. It can be found in the hemoglobin and transferrin of the bloodstream, and in myoglobin in muscle tissue. The main purpose of iron is to transfer oxygen within the body. To gain iron, humans must consume a diet that consist abundantly of iron such as leaf vegetables, fish, beans, etc. Absorption of iron is especially important because less than 15% of iron in daily diets are absorbed and used (Jacobs 1971). Thomas Jefferson s election in 1800 signaled the rise of the Republican party, and the soon to be demise of the Federalist party, with many judiciary conflicts to come between. The Judiciary Act of 1801 was an important point of conflict between the Federalists and republicans during the 19th century, causing heightened tension during the change of party hands, and ultimately leading to the establishment of judiciary review. On his very last day of presidency, John Adams commissioned 16 new Federalist judges (also called midnight judges in reference to his last minute timing) to balance the incoming influx of Republican power in congress. In Republican eyes, the Judiciary Act was a pathetic final attempt by the Federalist party to establish itself in one of the three branches of government. • 30. The Importance Of Creole Women In The Twentieth Century Throughout history, women always had a specific role that they had to play. Whether it is being a good mother or taking care of children, they had different duties compared to men. This cultural expectation still exists today in many different countries. Women are expected to fulfill tasks that seem unsuitable for men, and if they did not complete it then they would be deemed as a bad mother and society would think that they are rebellious and useless for not being able to complete simple tasks. They would also be scrutinized if they are not like everyone else. This applies to Creole women living in America during the early twentieth century. Women during that time period are prevented from having the freedom to explore and self evaluate. As a result of that, they cannot grow as a person. This is shown in the two novels Antigone by Kate Chopin and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. The cultural expectation of a woman s behavior in the early twentieth century prevents women from growing because they are expected to behave a certain way while being unable to express their true self. In the early twentieth century, Creole women had specific tasks that they needed to perform which held them back from exploring. They were expected to be a good wife that stayed at home to complete chores, take care of children, and do everything that a typical mother would do. • 32. Statement Of Purpose For Pharmacy STATEMENT OF INTENT The future may be uncertain that injects fear into the minds of some people. When it comes to me, I learn to interpret that the very uncertainty of the future is full of opportunities, for exploration to discover something I am passionate about. In the beginning, I expected to be a clinical pharmacist at a hospital, since I had taken a pharmacy degree with clinical pharmacy major. Nevertheless, the food and beverage industry has captivated my interest enough for me to pursue a career in it, especially related to the innovation and development of functional foods. During my undergraduate studies in the field of pharmacy at the University of Surabaya (UBAYA), I took a leave of absence for one year (2 semesters) which I requested several weeks before the orientation week started. I used this authorized break to refresh my mind by traveling to some parts of China and to other countries. I also took a short course on taxation, to gain new knowledge related to business aspects, with the thought that this would be beneficial later. • 33. Conformity Is The Most Popular Form Of Conformity As Dr. Seuss once said, Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don t matter and those who matter don t mind. Through this quote, the foundation of conformity is uprooted from its murky hovel and is disputed with. Despite, though, how many people preach these words, they still succumb to the mind numbing effects without even realizing it, because they are not fully aware of the causes of this topic. That is why one needs to understand the causes of conformity before preventing the effects. The three causes of conformity include: changing how one acts to avoid the rejection of their peers, depending on other people s opinions because they are oblivious to a certain topic, and conforming to something based on social characteristics. Changing how one acts to fit in better with a group, or normative conformity, is the most popular form of conformity in the world today. According to Philip G. Zimbardo, a Professor of Psychologyat Stanford University: Normative Conformity, is when we are concerned about making a good impression in front of a group. Though we may disagree secretly with the group opinion, we may verbally adopt the group stance so that we seem like a team player rather than a deviant. • 44. Theory Of The Principle Agent Problem In American politics, there are multiple examples of the phenomena known as the principle agent problem. A principle agent problem is when a person (the principal) hires another person (the agent) to perform a job that the principle cannot do themselves. However, the agent in these situations may go against the wishes of the principle for their own benefit, making the whole exchange a risk for the principle. In everyday life, an example of a principle agent problem is when a person hires a mechanic. They hire a mechanic because they don t have the knowledge, or the ability, to do the job. Unfortunately, the mechanic is aware of this, and may try to get more compensation by charging for more than is actually required. In the American political system, a specific example of the principle agent is the relationship between the heads of the Central Intelligence Agencyand the agents they employ. In an arrangement between the Central Intelligence Agency and an agent that they wish to hire, the CIA compensates the agent with the expectation that the agent will perform their required task, act covertly, and protect the United States of America. However, the agent may defect by giving other nations information that they deem is important, or acting in some other way that may compromise our country, so that the defecting agent could receive some sort of compensation. Although defectors are rather rare (as far as we know), when an agent does defect, it has serious consequences for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In her town, women must be ladylike and find a husband at an early age. Mulan is an independent girl who is tomboyish and clumsy; the opposite of what is expected of her. In Mulan s society being able to be the perfect woman and be pretty, smart, and graceful brings honor to one s family, but Mulan cannot seem to fit these standards which makes her family disappointed. This is shown well in the scene with the matchmaker. Mulan s mother has people come and dress mulan in fine garments, has her makeup done, and her hair put up in a beautiful style. She is taught the correct things to say and do towards the matchmaker and her grandmother even gives her a lucky cricket to make sure things will go well. Going back to the toast at Frida and Diego s wedding, marriage was stated to be a political act that occurred in the name of tradition. Monogamy is also enforced by culture, economics, social factors and it is the normal thing to do (Robinson). Even in society today, when a man and woman are not monogamous, they are frowned upon or referred to in derogatory terms. Research shows that promiscuity raised the likelihood of reproduction and survival, but monogamy worked where there was a low female to male ratio, limiting men s options (Borreli, Are Humans Naturally Monogamous?). Until Diego crossed the boundaries of having sex with Frida s sister, their relationship seemed to work for them. • 48. An Unquiet Mind Reflection Reflection of the Book An Unquiet Mind In her book, An Unquiet Mind, Kay Jamison instills an understanding of bipolar disorder from two opposing perspectives. Initially, Jameson tells a tale of herself as a long term victim of bipolar. It is from her description that a reader is highlighted about the various avenues through which the condition attacks. Besides exploring the disorder as the victim, the book as well depicts Jamison as the healed. That is, she gives an account of her life as an individual who survived the grips of bipolar disorder and became a healer (psychotherapist and a lecturer) instead. Reflecting on Jamison s work An Unquiet Mind automatically triggers the desire of the reader to unearth more about the author, her context, and diagnosis of the bipolar disorder. The Enjoyable Aspect It is impossible not to enjoy An Unquiet Mind based on how it explores the topics that people suffering from bipolar disorder tend not to touch. That is, Jamison employs the writing to tell people about her life as a victim of a mental health condition that is characterized by stigma everywhere. In depicting such an account, the author explores the actual nature of the disease, how it affects its victims, and how victims can fight it. Basically, the storyline gives a lifeline to people who suffer from bipolar disorder, and who have lost hope in achieving their dreams in life. The most fulfilling aspect of the reading features the fact that the author is able to identify a problem and at the same time offer a practical solution to the problem from a personal perspective, something that is rare to come by in real life medical practicing. Simply put, it is enjoyable to read Jamison s An Unquiet Mind. Diagnoses The reading offers lessons about the diagnosis of bipolar disorder primarily. To a reader, placing emphasis on Jamison s diagnosis can lead to answers about curing the condition, which is the goal of any interested individual. It is worth noting that Jamison was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder. Such an assertion follows her own revelation that she suffered from the condition often, and in a long periodic duration while growing up (Jamison, 1995).
