Defensive Posture Of The United States
defensive posture of the United States, their ability to plan for attacks on the United States may
become diminished to the point of unsuccessful operations. (JCS 2015, pg.)
The target of the counterterror operations in the military strategy is the terror groups themselves, and
with the Handel method, the use of altering the perceptions that the enemy has can also alter their
ability to conduct attacks in middle east or even operate openly. By targeting the leadership with these
deception operations and altering the way the way they receive intelligence and also plan, can result in
degradation of their ground operations as well as making it appear that the leadership is without the
ability to lead effectively. (JCS 2015, pg.6) By making the enemy conduct the operations in ways that
would affect their ability to mass their forces or where the can concentrate their fighters, the idea that
the legitimacy of the fighting force could be diminished making for a loss of support. (JCS 2015, pg.
6)
The first argument in support of this model is the ability to make the enemy concentrate forces
mistakenly in an area where they would be susceptible to defeat or overwhelming power. (Bennet
Waltz 2007, pg. 30) This is accomplished through Handel s proposed use of misdirection, where
making the attention of the terror leaders being taken to another place would make them conduct a
strategic mistake leading to a defeat and loss of legitimacy. The con of this argument, is determining

Gender Segregation
Davis Anderson Sociology 3337 Prof. Korinek October 23, 2012 Group 7 Analysis of: Revisiting the
Glass Escalator: The Case of Gender Segregation in a Female Dominated Occupation This critical
examination and study, done by Karrie Ann Snyder and Adam Isaiah Green, dives into the data of a
predominately women s job, nursing, to find out if men really have a glass escalator when it comes to
advancing up to top positions and dissects the notion of horizontal segregation. The glass escalator
theory is one that assumes males in female dominated professions are pushed up the ladder to
administrative and supervisory positions much easier and faster than women. Throughout the article,
they explain the methods used to gather the data, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When interviewed about why they chose their specialization, men seemed aware of the gender
connotations of their job, while women rarely mentioned it as a factor. This is a direct cause of why
segregation across different areas of work is much more prevalent than segregation through the
administrative ranks. The name nurse often carries with it negative connotations in the eyes of males.
It is inherently feminine in its perception and plays a large role in scaring men away or causing them
concern about what others think and leading them into positions that are thought of as more manly.
Nursing is unique in the wide range of specializations that it offers, and that may play a part as to why
horizontal segregation is so widespread as opposed to vertical. Oftentimes males seek positions of
prestige and in nursing those desires may be filled by working in masculine roles as opposed to higher
ranking positions that would typically validate success in other professions. From the data gathered
and personal accounts reviewed, it seems that men chose positions thought of as more masculine
based primarily on fulfilling the conceptions of gender identity. Financial interests and personal
desires do have an effect, but it seems that sticking to the gender rules is the largest factor in
determining the careers of practicing male nurses. The data in this study is

Overview of Cash Flow Management
Cash Flow Management
Poor cash management is the most frequent stumbling block that causes business failure (Anon.,
2013). Good cash management comes from knowing when, where, and how cash needs will occur.
Knowing the best sources for cash is vital to being prepared to meet needs as they arise. This requires
good relationships with bankers and creditors. Developing and maintaining cash flow projections
helps to understand how cash is generated and used in a business. Without understanding the cash
flow of a business, the business is doomed for failure.
Mr. Morello s projected cash flow for January 2012 to June 2012 shows negative cash flows for
January and May, with January $42,560 and May $1,190 in the negative. The majority of the January
expenses come from the needs of the contract. The May loss can be covered with profits from
February, March, and April, but January becomes a major problem. The projected budget shows
enough in profits to obtain a loan to cover the loss, overdraft, and still have some working capital for
expenses, such as fuel or maintenance for vehicles that is not in the projected budget. Mr. Morello
would need to obtain a loan for at least $50,000. Because accounts receivable can sometimes be
unpredictable, it would be wiser to consider the loan for $60,000 to ensure that the business needs are
met in a timely manner.
In efforts to reduce the interest expense from a loan, community banks and the Small Business
Administration offer lower interest

My Country Assessment Of Syria
My country assessment of Syria contains much of the recent history, but I believe to truly understand
what is happening today, we must understand how historically Syrian politics, geopolitical regional
experiences and culture has come into play in the world understanding of a proud, but fractured
Country. In this assessment I will tackle modern history, political and insurgent threats to the region
and to the United States foreign missions as well as short and long term analysis on the direction of
the country and U.S. policies going forward.
Syria is one of the oldest civilizations in history, with art, written language, and religious activities
dating back to the time of Mesopotamia. It has been the dagger s edge in the Levant, splitting between
western culture, and eastern religious ideology for the last two millennia. Significant religious acts in
religious lore such as Paul the apostle converting to Christianity on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1
43) also transpired in Syria. The country has been conquered numerous times; the mix of art, religions,
governments and culture have changed and left scars on the country. In this manner Syria is as diverse
of a place as many European cities at their cultural height.
Modern Syria presents many challenges. President Basher Al Assad has ruled since 2000, and ruled
with an iron fist. He has consistently put down uprisings along the northern border with Turkey and
western border with Lebanon. Separatist movements

The Contribution Of Islam And Islam
Outline the contribution to Islam of ONE significant person or school of thought other than
Muhammad and the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs.
Sayyid Qutb s contributions lie in his books and writings, which express his values and perspectives.
He wrote a total of 24 book and articles criticising the American way of living and the Arab world for
trying to become westernised. Social Justice in Islam was written first, expressing his belief in tawhid
(unity in God) and in Islam as the only way of life. He then joined the Muslim Brotherhood,
contributing to Islamic perspectives as chief editor of the brotherhood s newspaper. Sayyid was
arrested as he was accused of attempting to overthrow the govt. In prison, he completed Shadows of
the Qur an, which is a commentary on the Qur an, trying to find new ideology and thus return to a
truly Islamic environment analysing how Muhammad dealt with ignorance. Milestones was published
after his release and was so controversial, it lead to him being re arrested. Three concepts were
introduced in Milestones known as jihad (struggle against evil as a community), jahiliyya (ignorance)
and aqida (belief in Allah). As a result, Muslims strive to fulfil their duty to defeat jahiliyya through
forms such as jihad to serve Allah.
How effective has the significant person or school of thought identified in part (a) (i) been in the
development and/or expression of Islam?
Sayyid Qutb had an immense impact on the Islamic religion. He played an important

The International Financial Reporting Standard
There is no surprise that the United States is taking its precious time conforming to someone else s
standards. For years, teachers and engineers from around the world have been inquiring why the
United States has not switched to the metric system in its classrooms and stop teaching the old method
of measurement. After the long fight to change the standard, teachers now take time to introduce the
subject in class. Mirroring the struggle to get the metric system taught in classrooms, it is now time for
the United States to make a decision in the accounting profession. The International Financial
Reporting Standard was supposed to be the universal standard of accounting across every nation by
the year 2015, but the United States Security and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The talks about convergence began in 2002 between the International Financial Standards Board and
the Financial Accounting Standards Board. In 2005, the Security and Exchange Commission
acknowledged that the day would come when the International Financial Standards would take
precedence over the United States GAAP. In the year 2007, it was decided that foreign companies
would have the ability to file financial statements in the United States without reconciling the
statements to the United States GAAP. This statement modeled the first step for the United States
toward accepting the International Accounting Standards. This changeover would give professionals
and the Security and Exchange Commission time to inspect the financial statements in respect to the
International Accounting Standards and with the Generally Accepted Accounting Standards. After this
moment in time, the Security and Exchange Commission issued a road map to present a blueprint of
how the convergence would take place. It stated that in between the years of 2009 through 2010, a
Security and Exchange Commission staff work plan would be developed to work on the substantive
details of the convergence plan ( 2015 IFRS in the, 2014). In the middle of development a Security
and Exchange Commission policy statement would be issued to announce more understanding of the
IFRS and how it will replace the Generally

Franklins Road To Humility Essay
Ben s Autobiography begins in humility and ends in humility. He is born into a modest family being
the youngest son of the youngest son for five generations back. He finishes part two with the modesty
of an accomplished elder. However, in between it is full of arrogance and pride. During his early years
(part 1 of The Autobiography), Ben s diligence and thirst for knowledge continuously put him in
comforting situations. Unfortunately he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He proceeds to his brothers place of business to show off all these things and before he leaves he buys
the journey men a round of drinks. Where
is the humility in that? His brother later said he was insulted so much in front of his workers that he
could never forgive or forget. Ben thought he was on top of the world when he came back to visit his
family. But before he knew it, his father declined to assist him and he was stuck in England with no
money and no job. That was one of the lessons he needed to learn in order to reach real humility in his
later years. One day you are dining with royalty and have everything you need, the next day you are
looking for a place to day, lonely, and living on bread and water.
Ben uses the words reality and appearance twice in the autobiography. The first time it is in regards to
him being efficient and hardworking. But he goes on to show how he is hardworking in the eyes of the
citizens. He says that, in order to secure my credit and character as a tradesman... I would dress plainly
and was never seen in places of idle Diversion, and I would never go out fishing or shooting (page
367). This proves the appearance of his hardworking efficiency. He doesn t say anything about what
he really wanted to do in regards to fishing and shooting etc. On page 384 we see the second mention
of reality and appearance. It was these few paragraphs that convinced me Benjamin Franklin

The Debate On The Issue Of Poverty
JUDGEMENT FRAMEWORK
Poverty is a complex issue that has always been around, but has been a growing concern over time.
Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s complexity and
emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully understand the proposal
and clearly articulate their stance.
The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument,
provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions from
the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to efficiently use
time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting other debates and
keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor.
There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the teams
address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the individual or
society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why current efforts are not
working, and what new solutions should be utilized?
I expect both teams to utilize support for their arguments from outside sources and from the readings.
My general expectations for the arguments by both teams is to not only clearly explain their proposed
arguments, but to also

Essay on Community Oriented Policing (COP)
Introduction The police are usually charged with the great responsibility of ensuring that citizens are
living quality lives that are free of crime and fear. In order to perform this duty effectively, the police
need accurate and deeper knowledge of the citizens and issues they encounter in their daily lives. This
knowledge will not be easy to come by if the police work independently from the citizens. Over the
last several decades, police agencies have been working to gain the respect and the cooperation of the
communities they serve. Community Oriented Policing was introduced to bring a closer working
relationship between the citizens and the police.

Through this cooperation, it is possible to modify the environments that promote criminal behaviors.
The concept of COP is almost similar to that of Problem Oriented Policing (POP) apart from a few
differences. POP is a concept that involves critically examining pieces of community issues with the
aim of learning something new from the problem identified that will lead to more effective strategies
for dealing with crime (Zarka, 2007). POP is designed to identify and eliminate causes of reoccurring
crime and disorder that harm the community. Just like COP, the main goals of POP are to reduce crime
and maintain social order. POP replaces the traditional incident driven policing strategies and,
therefore, gave rise to the concept of Community policing (Reno Police Department, 1992).
COP and POP designs involve a more open relationship between the citizens and the police with the
aim of giving the police a more proactive role in community issues (Mirsky, 2009). Under community
policing, police are empowered to engage citizens in providing solutions to community s problems.
COP involves tactics such as foot and bike patrol, mini stations, and beat meetings among many
others. It also entails changes in police and community structures among a few other external changes.
These may include formation of community squad division and geographical organization.
COP and POP recognize that crime may be associated to micro social

Walmart And Macy s Retail Stores
The two retail stores I have selected are JCPenny and Macy s. These two retail stores can be found
together at many malls. For example, Westfield South Shore Mall in Bayshore on Long Island
contains both JCPenny and Macy s. Although they are not directly next to each other they are most
certainly competitors. They contain many of the same brands however they both have a different
approach to how they display the brand. I focused on Levi s for men and within the Levi s department
there was other garments and accessories other than jeans. The assortment in JCPenny was clearly
superior. Other than jeans they had long sleeves, graphic long sleeves, flannels, winter jackets, denim
jackets, socks, underwear, belts, and a variety of hats. Every section was well stocked and had
numerous different sizes. In addition every style was placed on its correct rack or shelf. Macy s on the
other hand, was very unorganized. It was quite hard to determine what style I was looking at because
nothing was where it belonged and there was pile of pants just thrown onto display tables. However
they did have a small selection of ski hats, very few belts, underwear, thermals, and winter jackets.
The only thing that seemed fully stocked was the men s underwear however I was only able to reach
from the side because there was a cart blocking my reach. The cart was stocked with various different
styles and colors of jeans that were just left there. The layout in JCPenny was much more appealing

The Old Saying “Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder” Has
The old saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder has always been the ideal of what society believes
beauty to be; versatile and able to be interpreted as anyone likes because it is something that is unique
to every person s own taste. This sentiment, as true as it may seem, is just an illusion. Oxford
Dictionaries may define beauty as a combination of qualities, such as shape, colour, or form, that
pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight , which seems vague enough to be interpreted any
way someone wishes, yet society has been imposing strict standards onto what is deemed beautiful for
centuries. It is these mass opinions that then culminate in what is widely viewed as what real beauty
is, which, though they can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact of the matter is that both men and women feel the effects of societally imposed standards and

out of control for decades. All around the world people feel burdened because they do not look a
certain way, and because of that they are deemed ugly or hideous by those around them, and those
burdens weigh them down. They could weigh them down so much in fact that they decide that all else
is lost and their only option is plastic surgery in order to fix their imperfection, or sometimes even

Data/information is always a most important asset for any organization whose security cannot be
compromised. With the advances in technology, the risk to these valuable assets increases. So their
security is a big challenge. In [8] different database security layers are defined shown in figure (2)
below. These layers are: database administrator, system administrator, security officer, developers and
employee. For each layer some well defined security policies have been anticipated. These policies
ensure the security features, privacy, confidentiality and integrity.
This study mainly focuses on issues in databases security and measures taken to solve those issues.
Securing sensitive data from illegal access, theft and forging becomes a big challenge for different
organizations, like government, no government and privates sectors. Encryption of data in client or
server side where data is shared between different parties is not sufficient.
Basically the problem is to ensure that semi trusted database is secure or not. [6]

Cell Phone Vs. Hand Free Phone
Divided attention is the capability to carry out more than one task at a time. If task demand is an easy
manner concept, it is not so simply to put into words and switch the task demands in our everyday life.
The passenger supports the driver while finding the way and prompt the driver to focus on driving ( ).
Other research indicates that using hands free cell phones can be distracting as using handheld devices
because the talking is the main distraction. One main difference between a cell phone conversations
versus hand free phone calls is due to the fact that the passenger is in the car. These differences are
visible at the level of performance involving operational, tactical, and strategic. According to a report
(2009), text messaging has an undesirable effect on virtual driving, driving performance, and the
undesirable impact seems more severe than chatting on the cell phone while driving.
Divided Attention, Task Demand, and Driving
Divided attention happens in one or more senses at a time. A person using divided attention does not
change from one task to another different task. Using divided attention can cause using a cell phone or
text messaging in the car dangerous. Some of the factors such as turning the radio, weather condition,

The Source Woman Of A Great Family And The Virgin Suicides...
Primary Source Paper For this primary source paper, I decided to write a comparison on the source
Women s Place in Renaissance Italy: Alessandra, Letters from a Widow and Matriarch of a Great
Family and The Virgin Suicides written by Jeffrey Eugenides. Immediately reading the first paragraph
of Women s Place in Renaissance Italy, it strongly resonated with The Virgin Suicides in a way. I
thought these two would make an interesting comparison due to the way they both address men, death,
complexity of being a female, and family.
In the primary source, it talks about women from the upper class who gain prestige and power through
widowhood. While lower class women had more freedom in their early life with work and marriage,
upper class women were pressured to keep the wealth going throughout generations which led to a
great deal of pressure to marry a rich man and benefit from that in any way that they could. The source
focuses on a woman named Alessandra, who lived in the years between 1450 1465; married a wealthy
merchant, named Matteo Strozzi, who then died of the plague thus leaving her with branches of
businesses all across Europe and a sudden new access to these things that her husband previously took
charge of. She talked to her sons about their role in the family with political, marital, and economical
issues and duties for the family. She talked to her daughters about the men they should strive to marry
and the duties they have at home that they should learn and do to

These are the Chora stage, the Abjection stage and the Narcissistic stage. The Chora stage covers the
first six months of an infant s life. It is a pre linguistic stage where the infant is dominated by a chaotic

Now the child has a clear perception of the subject, object and the abject. The subject (child) submits
himself to the prevailing rules and customs of the society, the object (other) opposes the subject and
disturbs the smooth run of things whereas the abject threatens the very identity and wholeness of the
subject. Objects can lead to either or both fascination and repulsion. When an object is on the verge of
destroying the subject s existence, it becomes an abject i.e. something to get rid of. In a similar
manner an abject becomes an object, when it is no longer a serious threat to the subject s hegemony
over its own self. In the Symbolic realm or the linguistic stage the child is further separated from a
connection with the mother as language itself finds meaning within its own internal logic of
differences. For example the meaning of the word hot is understood only when we deduce the
differences while comparing it with the word cold . Expanding upon this concept of abjecting or
differentiating ourselves from others, Kristeva further contends that all acts of abjection or creating
borders between the subject and the abject at the level of individuals, communities, states, nations etc.

First Day In School Essay
Sammie Jo, get up. We have to go drop dad off, I hear mom say from my door. I roll out of bed with
my doll, my brother is already in the living room. Dad has a big duffle bag sitting by the couch. He
says good bye to the dogs and then we all walk out to the car. My brother and I do not say word the
whole car ride. Mommy was crying and holding dad s hand on the way to Cherry Point. It took us
about twenty minutes to get on base and to my dad s work building. There was a lot of buff men in
their cammies, some of them are already on the bus. What is going on? I think to myself. Dad gives
mom a hug and kiss before he gave me and my brother a hug. I don t understand what is going on but
I don t let go off my daddy for what felt like forever. Time to let go kiddo, Dad says before making me
pull away. He gives us one last look before walking into the big group of Marines. I keep my eyes on
him as long as possible before he gets on the bus and drives away. The next day is the first day of
second grade. I cannot wait to see my old classmates and meet my new teacher. When we get done
eating breakfast, we give mom a hug good bye then head to the bus stop. It does not feel right, only
saying bye to one parent before going to school but my brother, Blake, just tells me that I better get
used to it. The school day goes on as usual. I stay to myself a lot. I don t need a ton of friends or to be

Gambling Is A Big Problem
Gambling Essay
Imagine a family member had a gambling problem and was never around to care for his family.
Gambling is a big problem in the world today and people lose their money that way. The problems are
money problems, health issues, and suicide risk.
People always have problems with money problems because they will gamble until they have nothing
left to gamble with. It s a problem because all the money that people are spending could be going into
stores so they can provide food and clothes for their family. When family members learn that savings,
property or belongings have been lost, it can make them feel scared, angry and betrayed (Effects of
Gambling). Some people gamble so much they can go bankrupt. In extreme cases, problem ... Show

The solution that the people have come up with is to find another activity that gives the players the
same feelings that gambling does. ¨Distract yourself with another activity, such as cleaning your
house, going to the gym, or watching a movie¨ (Gambling Addiction and Problem Gambling). People
can reach out for other people s advice and suggestions to help with people s gambling problems.
¨People can call a trusted family member, meet a friend for coffee, or go to a Gamblers Anonymous
meeting¨ (Gambling Addiction and Problem Gambling). It gives people physical and mental health
problems. This can include anxiety, depression and stress related problems such as poor sleep, ulcers,
bowel problems, headaches and muscle pains (Effects of Gambling).
The third problem is that from gambling people can have temptations to go suicide. Rates of suicide
are higher for people who gamble excessively, and for their family members. The people most likely
to attempt suicide are those who also have mental health problems (like depression) or who heavily
use alcohol or other drugs (Effects of Gambling). Suicide risks from gambling have gone up over the
years because teens get all the anxiety and depression from playing. A study undertaken in Hong Kong
in 2010 found that of the 233 gambling suicides in the city over the course of a year, 110 of the
victims

Break Break Break Analysis
The poem Break, Break, Break was composed by Lord Tennyson Alfred. Written in rhyming quatrain
stanzas with a trimeter rhythm, this piece of literature expresses the thoughts of a man who has
recently lost someone he was close to. Accordingly, the themes displayed in this poem are death,
sorrow, and passing time. The composer of the poem is unable to speak his mind, for his tongue will
not allow him to speak the thoughts that arise in [him] (4). This phrase displays the emotional distress
being experience by the author, as well as avoidance of responsibility for what he is unable to say. He
does not take claim of being unable to say his thoughts aloud but rather blames the inability on his
tongue. Later on in the poem, we learn of the reason for this emotional distress the author is
experiencing. The author longs for the touch of a vanished hand/And the sound of a voice that is still
(11 12). These two eerie indicators point the reader towards the conclusion that the author has lost
someone with whom he was close. The author continues to use the physical world to describe the one
he has lost, emphasizing the presence of death within the poem. The combination of his inability to
say what thoughts he has and his use of physical world descriptions for this missing person may
indicate that he is still in the early stages of grief, attempting to fully comprehend his loss. The author
includes implications of jealousy within his poem. This jealousy arises when he first observes a
fisherman s boy playing joyfully with his sister and then when he sees a sailor lad singing cheerfully
in his boat on the bay. These lines providing evidence of this begin with O well (5,7). The use of this
phrase before his observations leads the reader to the conclusion that he is jealous of the happiness of
these people. After suffering a great loss, one is inclined to wish they could once again experience the
joy they see in others. This is further evident with the presence of the statement of but the tender grace
of a day that is dead/Will never come back to me (15 16). The authors thoughts of jealousy and death
lead to the main theme of this poem, sorrow. The author recalls the day that he was able to enjoy the

The Concept Of Cultural Erasure, Inequality And Violence
Postcolonialism: The Concept of Cultural Erasure, Inequality and Violence Colonization can be dated
back to 1492 with the Spanish venture led by Columbus. Colonialism is defined as The policy or
practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers,
and exploiting it economically (Oxford Dictionary). This expedition spread European influence
worldwide, in places such as China, Lebanon, India, and Antigua. European influence is still prevalent
today through the crossing of racial lines and shifting of cultures towards a more civilized way of
living. Colonialism is still prevalent today, in the form of postcolonialism. Postcolonialism can be
defined as America s benefaction to nations worldwide that include dynamic influences in things such
as: government, culture, education and economy. One of the concepts erected from colonialism is
globalization. Since globalization is a direct effect of colonialism, it is no surprise that globalization
influences the same categories as postcolonialism (government, culture, education and economy),
making the two concepts almost synonymous with minimal differences. Globalization is defined as
the integration of economics and communications of nations through increased contact by technology.
Globalization dominates the economic and social side of the field while postcolonialism dwells in the
cultural and educational aspects. This European gift has contributed to global conflicts,

Art Spiegelman s Use Of Animals In Maus I And Maus Propaganda
Maus I and Maus II by Art Spiegelman are graphic novels that describe the horrors that his father
Vladek experienced during the period of time known as the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a time of
extreme racial and ethnic prejudice in which over six million Jews died, not counting the other groups
such as Gypsies and Homosexual who were also slain by the Nazi party. The Jews were killed because
they were perceived as being a subhuman layer of the Nazi Society (United States Holocaust

The opposite of what the Nazis believed, Spiegelman has anthropomorphic character with their human
thoughts rather than humans who had animal thoughts. His characters have human actions and
thoughts, and perceive themselves as human. This is also proven in Maus I when Vladek and his wife
Anja are hiding in the cellar of a friend. While in the cellar the two are being pestered by rats. To stop
Anja from having a panic attack from being close to the vermin Vladek claims Those aren t rats. They
re very small. one just ran over my hand before. They re just mice ( Maus I, 157). This shows that in
the world of Art Spiegelman s Maus animals such as rats and mice coexist with the characters that are
drawn as rats and mice. Spiegelman also uses masks to help parody the story. The masks in the story
are worn by Vladek, and Anja to hide in plain site in Nazi occupied Poland. The characters are
illustrated with a pig head, with a very visible string around the mask for the reader to see. This
parodies the idea of animals living the Holocaust with the Jews pretending to be Polish. The masks
represent their ability to hide within the Polish community, and assimilate with their culture. Therefore

On Children ages 6 12, parental divorce can negatively impact education. This age group is still in
what psychologists call the magical thinking stage; which means they usually are very optimistic and

separation of their parents but can also feel it s their duty to reconcile their parents back together; they

parents divorce their teen s attitudes about sexual behavior changes, teens chances of premarital sex

Racial Profiling Is A Central Issue Economically Essay
Lights! Camera! Judgement! In today s world, racial profiling has been a central issue economically.
These types of problem can be spotted anywhere to whether we see it or not. It is hard to believe racial
profiling is one point citizens can never get enough of which makes things so conflicted and leads to a
big mess. That is one way to how maybe war can create between people who are innocent and others
who is racist even though they say they are not . Ever since racial profiling started in the mid 1900 s
never stopped. It is hard to put an end to it but people has their own aspects of it which I do not blame
them but makes them racist. People may fool around here and there but this is a serious issue
happening globally. From social media to the real life thing can lead to violence and making a severe
economic impact. I, myself faced something like this when I just wanted to look at something myself
can and cannot afford, then later received a comment and body language which I will never forget. In

Therefore according to Fisher and Krumiede (2012), relevant cost information is essential for
profitability analysis and strategic planning. For example, a few years ago, after implementing a more
detailed costing system, Nestlé SA Chief Executive Peter Brabeck made an unexpected and alarming
discovery: His company was producing 130,000 variations of its various brands, and 30 percent were
not making money (Ball, 2007). Although almost two thirds of Australian executives (63%) believe
that retailers reducing product range/varieties on their shelves will negatively affect their businesses
(Thornton, 2013). Voodoo Ltd has taken initiative and experienced exponential growth in their new
brands that they have created to attract new customers. However, Voodoo Ltd should not lose focus
from its signature products. Voodoo Ltd should look to reassess which brands are not economically
viable and remove them from production. ii. How a product costing system could improve pricing of
Voodoo Ltd s products
Product costing is the key to inventory valuation and pricing (Alnestig Segerstedt, 1996). Inventory

Tap Dancing History
The history of tap originated in the United States from many styles of dance forms from different
ethnicities such as African Tribal, Scottish Dance, Irish and English clog dances and jigs. Ever since
then tap has been updated in many types of styles. Tap is a form of dance using tap shoes (shoes with
metal plates in the heel and ball of the foot) striking the floor as a form of percussion. It is believed
that African slaves and Irish servants had watched each other dancing on the plantations and combined
them together to invent tap dancing, before it was believed that tap dancing came from an urban
environment such as the Five Points District in New York City, where many ethnic groups lived
together. Tap started between the mid and late 1800 s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leonard Reed said there wasn t a show that didn t feature tap dancing. If you couldn t dance you

noticed. The Berry Brothers act included rhythmic, synchronized cane twirling and dazzling acrobatics
to pop out. Soon newer styles were invented such as flash, novelty, eccentric, legomania and comedy,
swing tap also known as classical tap, class, military, rhythm, close floor and paddle and roll. Flash is
a style of dance that incorporated acrobatics and were often used to finish a dance. Novelty is the
incorporation into a routine of specialty props, such as jump ropes, suitcases, and stairs. Eccentric,
legomania and comedy each used the body in eccentric and comedic ways to fool the eye and
characteristically involved wild and wiggly leg movements. Swing/classical tap combines the upper
body movement found in 20th century ballet and jazz with percussive, syncopated footwork, a style
used extensively in the movies. Military is the use of military marching and drum rhythms. Lastly
rhythm, close floor and paddle and roll each emphasized footwork using heel and toe taps, typically of

the novel it is clear that Gatsby has only one thing in life that he values; nothing is more important to
him than his long lost love, Daisy. The writer explained to us that Gatsby bought that house so that
Daisy would be right across the bay (83). He spends most of his time throwing huge parties solely in
hopes that one day his party will attract Daisy to his home. Gatsby goes out of his way to get
reconnected with Daisy after so many years, and in this way, shows how much she means to him. As
the plot reaches the climax, Gatsby takes the blame for the death of Myrtle, in order to protect his
beloved Daisy. He was plans to flee from the law, but delays his departure from West Egg hoping to
let Daisy know that he loves her. As a result, Gatsby dies for the sake of Daisy, the only one he values
in his life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Daisy is the wife of a wealthy man named Tom Buchanan. In the beginning of the story Daisy values
very little and wants only to be care free. The writer uses examples such as Daisy saying I m p
paralyzed with happiness (13). With a husband of Tom s wealth Daisy never needed to work or lift a
finger in the house and spent most of her time socializing. As the story progresses, Daisy s values shift
and she begins to care about how much Gatsby loves her and worries about how she will manage to
leave her husband, his money and her child so she can spend the rest of her life with

local artist from the Valley who s work, on my point of view, should be more recognize by other
people. Jessica Monroe Art Born with the painting in her veins Jessica Monroe has dedicated her life
to represent our Mother Earth in the most vivid way possible. Her desire of realism and to protect the

Search For Identity In Surfacing, By Margaret Atwood
In this situation the question of an authentic Canadian voice has troubled many Canadian writers. At
the same time the regional consciousness in Canada began to give rise to a national consciousness
which further broadened into an international or universal consciousness. This awakened conscience
led to the writers showing a preoccupation with quest themes, search for identity and self definition
which turned out to be search for inner space. This phenomenon appears in the fiction of Margaret
Atwood.
Conversely, in the canon of postcolonial writers, Atwood is a troublesome figure. Despite her notable
search for an understanding of Canada that is not first mediated by an English or American aesthetic.

The major theme of the novel Search for identity , like national identity, identity of selfhood and
identity of womanhood, for the protagonist has become difficult because of her role as a victim of
colonial forces. She has been colonized by men in the patriarchal society in which she grew up.
Initially, the narrator of the story returns to the undeveloped island that she grew up on to search for
her missing father in that process she unmasks the inconsistencies in both her personal life and her
patriarchal society. The unnamed narrator of Surfacing comes back to her home in Northern Quebec
after a gap of nine years in search of her father, who is reported missing mysteriously. The protagonist
is working as a commercial artist. The reason for the deliberate separation from her parents is that the
narrator was in love with her teacher, who exploited her innocence. Against her wishes, he got the
pregnancy terminated. Unable to cope with this painful reality she gave her parents a different version.
She wrote a postcard and informed them that she was married, had a child and lost him to the husband

The History of the NFL The NFL has become the most popular sport in the United States. It is
watched my millions every weekend. The NFL is only growing in popularity. With new fans joining
the fun every day. The NFL has faced its share of problems too. With concussions scaring away many
future players, the NFL is hoping to lower the possibility of concussions in the future. Each NFL team
plays a total of 16 games over a span of 17 weeks. There are two conferences in the NFL, the AFC and
the NFC. There are four divisions in each conference, each with 4 teams. The playoff teams are
decided by the division rankings. The winner of each division makes the playoffs, with the two best

The Green Bay Packers are the oldest team to never change its name or location. The New York
Football Giants joined the league in 1925. The Portsmouth Spartans joined in 1930. The Spartans
relocated to Detroit in 1934 and became the Detroit Lions. The Indianapolis Colts also trace their roots
back to a founding member of the APFA, the Dayton Triangles, but are considered a separate franchise
from the Triangles and was founded in 1953 as the Baltimore Colts. The first championships were
awarded to the team with the best win loss record. This caused confusion as to whom the
championship should belong to. Some teams would schedule collegiate or amateur teams, and others
would play more or less games then other teams. In 1933, three new teams were added to the NFL, the
Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, and the Eagles. The NFL consisted of ten teams now, and the ten
teams were split into two different divisions, the Eastern and Western division. The Eastern division
consisted of the Philadelphia Eagles, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants, Boston Redskins, and the
Pittsburgh Pirates. The Western Division consisted of the Chicago Bears, Portsmouth Spartans,
Chicago Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, and the Cincinnati Reds. The winner of each division would
meet in the NFL championship game. The first ever NFL draft was held in 1936. The first televised
NFL game was on November 22nd, 1939 in a game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Brooklyn
Dodgers. The

Masculinity In The Black Panther Party
The training of armed defense within the Black Panther Party contributed to many of the violent
actions that involved members of the Black Panther Party. Violent discipline, in and out of the BPP,
was heavily enforced by Huey Newton, however the violent atmosphere surrounding the BPP solely
became a place for proving and asserting manhood, and not advancing the revolution that the founders
of the BPP had originally called for. Although many black women attempted to embody the feminine
American womanhood that their white counterparts had, according to Elaine Brown, chair of the BPP
from 1974 1777, many women joined the Black Panther Party as the image of strength and confidence
projected by male Panther leaders had a powerful, sensual appeal for many female recruits (Estes,
163). Women within the Black Panther Party were often overlooked as male leaders aggressively
pushed the image of strong, black manhood and militant masculinity to the ... Show more content on

Within the aspect of hegemonic masculinity, brute strength and intimidation are often used to
accomplish tasks. During her leadership, Brown recognized that because she was a woman, she did
not possess these characteristics. In order to assert herself as the Chairman, she encouraged Huey
Newton to appoint Larry Henson as her chief of staff before his exile. Brown writes about Larry s
male chauvinism and how problems would occur but those problems would be outweighed by his
fearlessness, and by the relentlessness and even savagery with which he always carried out orders. He
was capable of hoisting me above the battlefield of men who might resist or challenge my leadership
(Brown, 357). By surrounding herself with strong, intimidating men, Brown solidified her
performance of hegemonic masculinity as she challenged members of the party and the community to

The Invasion Of Normandy The Allied Forces
Following the invasion of Normandy the Allied forces were able to roll without significant opposition

21st Army Group, UK, consisting of XXX Brigade (UK), 1st Army, 9th Army, 2nd Army, and 1st

The Allied forces were caught by surprise and unable to leverage their air assets due to heavy snow
storms in the Ardennes. The storm front effectively hindered both forces. On the northern shoulder,
Germany s 6th Panzar Division pushed forward attacking American positions on Elsenborn Ridge and
Losheim Gap. Deitrichs men were committed to battle, having met heavy resistance from the United
States 2nd and 99th Infantry Divisions. The smaller inferior Allied force was able to significantly
delay the German advance, quite possibly the most decisive actions of the Ardennes campaign. Hasso
von Manteuffel s 5th Panzar was successful in the center, opening a gap between the 28th and 106th
Infantry Divisions. Germans 5th Panzar s advancement was able to surround two regiments of the
106th Division, forcing their surrender. Manteuffels and Deitrichs forces were significantly challenged
in the town of St. Vith. The Allied forces successfully defended the road junction, holding the position
until ordered to evacuate on 21 December. These actions resulted in further set backs for the German
force. Additionally, Mantueffel s forces moved toward St. Vith and Bastogne, where they met heavy
resistance, delaying their progress for several days. By December 22nd the weather began to clear
which allowed Allied aerial support. On the 23rd of December the Allied forces

How Bereavement has Affected Jerzy Essay
How Bereavement has Affected Jerzy
The death of a spouse has to be one of the most stressful changes you will ever experience. Your
spouse was probably the most important person in your life, possibly for many years. You may not
remember much of your single life before you were married; now you must live with the loss.
Jerzy has been through a lot with his wife, Word War Two, refugee status in three different countries
before settling down in England. When somebody dies after a long illness, the time which leads up to
death is often difficult for those who care for them. When you lose somebody as a result of a long,

The reaction of a child dying by accident is: shock, anger and disbelief. Denial of what happened is a
natural defence and initially helps the traumatized system to cope. However, if the denial persists, the
bereaved person will supper from extreme anxiety and risks long term mental health problems.
On the Death of a child by Celia Hindmarch, 2nd Edition, (2000) Oxon, Radcliffe Medical Press Ltd.
Even though it is a universal experience, most people do not like change. They have a limited capacity
to accept it. People actually fear change because it is a threat to their basic security needs. Virtually all
religions bring a deeper awareness of the meaning of life and most of them offer a way of looking at
death. Some religions stress that there is a continuing relationship of those who die with those who
live.

President Obama Hated On Friday Essay
President Obama hated on Friday what he called a Republican (series of actions to reach a goal) to
deny voting rights to millions of Americans as he stepped up efforts to motivate and excite his
political base heading into a competitive midterm campaign season.
Appearing at the once a year convention of the Rev. Al Sharpton s National Action Network in
Manhattan, Mr. Obama (charged with a crime) Republicans of trying to rig the elections by making it
harder for older people, women, minorities and the make extremely poored to cast ballots in swing
states that could decide/figure out control of the Senate.
The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act became
law nearly fifty years ago, Mr. Obama said in a hotel large room (for dancing) filled with cheering
supporters, most of them African American. Across the country, Republicans have led efforts to pass
laws making it harder, not easier, for people to vote.
Speaking a day after a (meeting to discuss things/meeting together) in Texas remembering (with
honor) the 50th (yearly recognition or celebration) of the Civil Rights Act, Mr. Obama linked the issue
to the movement that helped pave the way for him to become the nation s first black president.
America did not stand up and did not march and did not sacrifice to gain the right to vote for
themselves and for others only to see it denied to their kids and their (children of children), he said.

  • 2. Defensive Posture Of The United States defensive posture of the United States, their ability to plan for attacks on the United States may become diminished to the point of unsuccessful operations. (JCS 2015, pg.) The target of the counterterror operations in the military strategy is the terror groups themselves, and with the Handel method, the use of altering the perceptions that the enemy has can also alter their ability to conduct attacks in middle east or even operate openly. By targeting the leadership with these deception operations and altering the way the way they receive intelligence and also plan, can result in degradation of their ground operations as well as making it appear that the leadership is without the ability to lead effectively. (JCS 2015, pg.6) By making the enemy conduct the operations in ways that would affect their ability to mass their forces or where the can concentrate their fighters, the idea that the legitimacy of the fighting force could be diminished making for a loss of support. (JCS 2015, pg. 6) The first argument in support of this model is the ability to make the enemy concentrate forces mistakenly in an area where they would be susceptible to defeat or overwhelming power. (Bennet Waltz 2007, pg. 30) This is accomplished through Handel s proposed use of misdirection, where making the attention of the terror leaders being taken to another place would make them conduct a strategic mistake leading to a defeat and loss of legitimacy. Gender Segregation Davis Anderson Sociology 3337 Prof. Korinek October 23, 2012 Group 7 Analysis of: Revisiting the Glass Escalator: The Case of Gender Segregation in a Female Dominated Occupation This critical examination and study, done by Karrie Ann Snyder and Adam Isaiah Green, dives into the data of a predominately women s job, nursing, to find out if men really have a glass escalator when it comes to advancing up to top positions and dissects the notion of horizontal segregation. The glass escalator theory is one that assumes males in female dominated professions are pushed up the ladder to administrative and supervisory positions much easier and faster than women. Throughout the article, they explain the methods used to gather the data, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When interviewed about why they chose their specialization, men seemed aware of the gender connotations of their job, while women rarely mentioned it as a factor. This is a direct cause of why segregation across different areas of work is much more prevalent than segregation through the administrative ranks. The name nurse often carries with it negative connotations in the eyes of males. It is inherently feminine in its perception and plays a large role in scaring men away or causing them concern about what others think and leading them into positions that are thought of as more manly. Nursing is unique in the wide range of specializations that it offers, and that may play a part as to why horizontal segregation is so widespread as opposed to vertical. Oftentimes males seek positions of prestige and in nursing those desires may be filled by working in masculine roles as opposed to higher ranking positions that would typically validate success in other professions. From the data gathered and personal accounts reviewed, it seems that men chose positions thought of as more masculine based primarily on fulfilling the conceptions of gender identity. Financial interests and personal desires do have an effect, but it seems that sticking to the gender rules is the largest factor in determining the careers of practicing male nurses. • 4. Overview of Cash Flow Management Cash Flow Management Poor cash management is the most frequent stumbling block that causes business failure (Anon., 2013). Good cash management comes from knowing when, where, and how cash needs will occur. Knowing the best sources for cash is vital to being prepared to meet needs as they arise. This requires good relationships with bankers and creditors. Developing and maintaining cash flow projections helps to understand how cash is generated and used in a business. Without understanding the cash flow of a business, the business is doomed for failure. Mr. Morello s projected cash flow for January 2012 to June 2012 shows negative cash flows for January and May, with January $42,560 and May $1,190 in the negative. The majority of the January expenses come from the needs of the contract. The May loss can be covered with profits from February, March, and April, but January becomes a major problem. The projected budget shows enough in profits to obtain a loan to cover the loss, overdraft, and still have some working capital for expenses, such as fuel or maintenance for vehicles that is not in the projected budget. Mr. Morello would need to obtain a loan for at least $50,000. Because accounts receivable can sometimes be unpredictable, it would be wiser to consider the loan for $60,000 to ensure that the business needs are met in a timely manner. In efforts to reduce the interest expense from a loan, community banks and the Small Business Administration offer lower interest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Country Assessment Of Syria My country assessment of Syria contains much of the recent history, but I believe to truly understand what is happening today, we must understand how historically Syrian politics, geopolitical regional experiences and culture has come into play in the world understanding of a proud, but fractured Country. In this assessment I will tackle modern history, political and insurgent threats to the region and to the United States foreign missions as well as short and long term analysis on the direction of the country and U.S. policies going forward. Syria is one of the oldest civilizations in history, with art, written language, and religious activities dating back to the time of Mesopotamia. It has been the dagger s edge in the Levant, splitting between western culture, and eastern religious ideology for the last two millennia. Significant religious acts in religious lore such as Paul the apostle converting to Christianity on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1 43) also transpired in Syria. The country has been conquered numerous times; the mix of art, religions, governments and culture have changed and left scars on the country. In this manner Syria is as diverse of a place as many European cities at their cultural height. Modern Syria presents many challenges. President Basher Al Assad has ruled since 2000, and ruled with an iron fist. He has consistently put down uprisings along the northern border with Turkey and western border with Lebanon. In prison, he completed Shadows of the Qur an, which is a commentary on the Qur an, trying to find new ideology and thus return to a truly Islamic environment analysing how Muhammad dealt with ignorance. Milestones was published after his release and was so controversial, it lead to him being re arrested. Three concepts were introduced in Milestones known as jihad (struggle against evil as a community), jahiliyya (ignorance) and aqida (belief in Allah). In the year 2007, it was decided that foreign companies would have the ability to file financial statements in the United States without reconciling the statements to the United States GAAP. This statement modeled the first step for the United States toward accepting the International Accounting Standards. This changeover would give professionals and the Security and Exchange Commission time to inspect the financial statements in respect to the International Accounting Standards and with the Generally Accepted Accounting Standards. After this moment in time, the Security and Exchange Commission issued a road map to present a blueprint of how the convergence would take place. It stated that in between the years of 2009 through 2010, a Security and Exchange Commission staff work plan would be developed to work on the substantive details of the convergence plan ( 2015 IFRS in the, 2014). Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s complexity and emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully understand the proposal and clearly articulate their stance. The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument, provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor. There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the teams address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the individual or society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why current efforts are not working, and what new solutions should be utilized? POP is a concept that involves critically examining pieces of community issues with the aim of learning something new from the problem identified that will lead to more effective strategies for dealing with crime (Zarka, 2007). POP is designed to identify and eliminate causes of reoccurring crime and disorder that harm the community. Just like COP, the main goals of POP are to reduce crime and maintain social order. POP replaces the traditional incident driven policing strategies and, therefore, gave rise to the concept of Community policing (Reno Police Department, 1992). COP and POP designs involve a more open relationship between the citizens and the police with the aim of giving the police a more proactive role in community issues (Mirsky, 2009). Under community policing, police are empowered to engage citizens in providing solutions to community s problems. COP involves tactics such as foot and bike patrol, mini stations, and beat meetings among many others. It also entails changes in police and community structures among a few other external changes. It is also a stage when the infant is oblivious about the need to distinguish itself from its mother or the world around and is fully dependent on its mother for the gratification of its desires. Objects can lead to either or both fascination and repulsion. When an object is on the verge of destroying the subject s existence, it becomes an abject i.e. something to get rid of. It gives people physical and mental health problems. This can include anxiety, depression and stress related problems such as poor sleep, ulcers, bowel problems, headaches and muscle pains (Effects of Gambling). The third problem is that from gambling people can have temptations to go suicide. Rates of suicide are higher for people who gamble excessively, and for their family members. The people most likely to attempt suicide are those who also have mental health problems (like depression) or who heavily use alcohol or other drugs (Effects of Gambling). • 25. Break Break Break Analysis The poem Break, Break, Break was composed by Lord Tennyson Alfred. Written in rhyming quatrain stanzas with a trimeter rhythm, this piece of literature expresses the thoughts of a man who has recently lost someone he was close to. Accordingly, the themes displayed in this poem are death, sorrow, and passing time. The composer of the poem is unable to speak his mind, for his tongue will not allow him to speak the thoughts that arise in [him] (4). This phrase displays the emotional distress being experience by the author, as well as avoidance of responsibility for what he is unable to say. He does not take claim of being unable to say his thoughts aloud but rather blames the inability on his tongue. Later on in the poem, we learn of the reason for this emotional distress the author is experiencing. The author longs for the touch of a vanished hand/And the sound of a voice that is still (11 12). These two eerie indicators point the reader towards the conclusion that the author has lost someone with whom he was close. The author continues to use the physical world to describe the one he has lost, emphasizing the presence of death within the poem. The combination of his inability to say what thoughts he has and his use of physical world descriptions for this missing person may indicate that he is still in the early stages of grief, attempting to fully comprehend his loss. The author includes implications of jealousy within his poem. This jealousy arises when he first observes a fisherman s boy playing joyfully with his sister and then when he sees a sailor lad singing cheerfully in his boat on the bay. These lines providing evidence of this begin with O well (5,7). The use of this phrase before his observations leads the reader to the conclusion that he is jealous of the happiness of these people. After suffering a great loss, one is inclined to wish they could once again experience the joy they see in others. This is further evident with the presence of the statement of but the tender grace of a day that is dead/Will never come back to me (15 16). The authors thoughts of jealousy and death lead to the main theme of this poem, sorrow. The author recalls the day that he was able to enjoy the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Concept Of Cultural Erasure, Inequality And Violence Postcolonialism: The Concept of Cultural Erasure, Inequality and Violence Colonization can be dated back to 1492 with the Spanish venture led by Columbus. Colonialism is defined as The policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically (Oxford Dictionary). This expedition spread European influence worldwide, in places such as China, Lebanon, India, and Antigua. European influence is still prevalent today through the crossing of racial lines and shifting of cultures towards a more civilized way of living. Colonialism is still prevalent today, in the form of postcolonialism. Postcolonialism can be defined as America s benefaction to nations worldwide that include dynamic influences in things such as: government, culture, education and economy. One of the concepts erected from colonialism is globalization. Since globalization is a direct effect of colonialism, it is no surprise that globalization influences the same categories as postcolonialism (government, culture, education and economy), making the two concepts almost synonymous with minimal differences. Globalization is defined as the integration of economics and communications of nations through increased contact by technology. • 45. Masculinity In The Black Panther Party The training of armed defense within the Black Panther Party contributed to many of the violent actions that involved members of the Black Panther Party. Violent discipline, in and out of the BPP, was heavily enforced by Huey Newton, however the violent atmosphere surrounding the BPP solely became a place for proving and asserting manhood, and not advancing the revolution that the founders of the BPP had originally called for. Although many black women attempted to embody the feminine American womanhood that their white counterparts had, according to Elaine Brown, chair of the BPP from 1974 1777, many women joined the Black Panther Party as the image of strength and confidence projected by male Panther leaders had a powerful, sensual appeal for many female recruits (Estes, 163). During her leadership, Brown recognized that because she was a woman, she did not possess these characteristics. In order to assert herself as the Chairman, she encouraged Huey Newton to appoint Larry Henson as her chief of staff before his exile. Brown writes about Larry s male chauvinism and how problems would occur but those problems would be outweighed by his fearlessness, and by the relentlessness and even savagery with which he always carried out orders. Germans 5th Panzar s advancement was able to surround two regiments of the 106th Division, forcing their surrender. Manteuffels and Deitrichs forces were significantly challenged in the town of St. Vith.
