Example Of Bad Brainwashing
When the members of the Wave were subconsciously brainwashed they were out of
touch with reality and the horror of what they were doing. And most of this is an
effect of too much loyalty. They were not fully aware of what they were doing to
the few kids who were smart enough to resist the Wave like the anonymous 11th
grader and Lorie. Like the Nazis the wave members started as a little group which
would expand and soon take over if not stopped. The Wave member s undying
loyalty to Mr. Ross like the Nazi partymembers undying loyalty to Hitler are both
examples of loyalty gone extreme and brainwashing taking over good people. After
looking at all of this information I feel our stance on this is that it is bad when you
are so loyal that you ignore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not thinking for yourself can make you do bad things. Some examples are dying
your hair a different color, doing something you usually wouldn t do, or hurting
someone you love. Sometimes getting things done faster can lead to consequences
. One example of this is when the Nazi s were working together they killed a lot of
jews which later led to remorse. You should never have lots of faith in one person
because people can and will make mistakes which is why they should always have
checks and balances. People need to take responsibility for their actions and not try
to pass it on to someone else. People use the fact that they were given the order to do
something they they shouldn t do.
In conclusion we feel that blind loyalty can be a bad thing. As we have pointed out
blind loyalty can leave a bad effect on people like when Robert feels left out again
after the wave is over or after Nazi s are relieved of duty they have remorse. It can
also mislead people it to traps and hurt them physically and mentally from what
they do or say. There is a lot more blind loyalty than what we covered in this essay
but what we covered we think was most important. We hope that this essay will
inspire all of you to think for yourself and
Anglo Saxon Warriors
Anglo Saxon Warriors
The loud scream of the Anglo Saxon warrior was heard as he takes his last breath
during battle. His blood and guts pour out from the inside, fighting with no power
left, his sword held high above his head, he drops to his knees, to his death.
The Anglo Saxon society was built on vengeance and feuds. Starting in the Fifth
Century, German Anglo Saxon warriors destroyed many towns and drove out many
native residents in England. Soon, they took the crown in England and for about a
decade the Anglo Saxon people migrated to different countries, taking their blood
feud with them. This meant that, with the death of a kingsman, a man was expected
to avenge his death. Cite). Life as an Anglo Saxon Warrior.
The anglo saxons were like modern day isis
The Anglo Saxon society, as a whole, revolved around warfare. Freemen and even
teenagers were made into warriors and expected to fight during battle. Servants
fought for their lords while freemen were rewarded with land. Anglo Saxon armies
were usually small, with only a few hundred men. The soldiers carried a variety of
different weapons: spears, axes, swords, and bows and arrows. When it comes to
their armor however, there was not much protection seeing as they did not wear
metal plate armor, but chainmail. This was most likely to make it easier to maneuver,
walk, and battle on foot. They wore helmets on their heads however they mainly
carried wooden shields. Everyone fought on foot during a battle.. It must
Minimum Fines And Punishments For Drivers
Every person that has operated a vehicle before, or has seen a vehicle operated,
understands that while driving is a very convenient mode of transportation, it can
also be extremely dangerous for vehicle operators and people near the roads which
vehicles are operated on. These dangers are suppressed by the rules and regulations
imposed by our governments. While some laws on roadways seem to be a
nuisance to drivers, they are there for a reason, to keep us safe. One specific
roadway area that the government is very concerned with keeping safe would be
construction zones. Currently the fines and punishments for drivers who are
ticketed and/or are involved in accidents in work zones are higher than they are in
regular roadway areas. The question that this essay will explore is whether or not
these higher fines are appropriate. Traffic laws are the jurisdiction of the state
governments and because of this the laws imposed in work zones vary between
each state. Currently in Michigan all fines for speeding are doubled in work
zones. Speeding in Michigan s work zones can also result in increased points on
your license. Furthermore, if you injure or kill a worker in a work zone in
Michigan you face a $7,500 fine and 15 years in prison. About 32 other states also
enforce the double fine laws in work zones, but 24 states with these laws require
workers to be present. Missouri enforces one of the steepest penalties for worker
endangerment, including up to a $10,000 fine. While these
An Essay On The Republican Party
The Republican Party has a total of 18 US presidents that were in office, the most
of any political party to date. The Republican Party started with Abraham Lincoln
and working its way down to George W Bush. The first start of the Party was in
February, 1854, when antislavery Whigs met together to discuss a formation of a new
political party. One such meeting on March 20th, 1854, in Wisconsin, is remembered
as the Founding meeting of the Republican Party. The Civil War made the Republican
Party victorious, but by 1876, the Republican Party had lost control of the South, but
it continued to dominate the presidency until the election of FDR in 1933. Its humble
beginnings began its triumphant start in its victories in congress as well as the world.
In a small school house in Wisconsin, the year 1854, a small group of abolitionists
joined together to create what is now known as the Republican Party. The group
was full of antislavery Whigs, state powered governmental thinking democrats, and
Free soilers bent on removing slavery from the United States. The day the group
was actually founded was on July 6th, 1854. The founders of this new political
party were Amos Truck, Horace Greeley, Salmon Chase and Charles Sumner. The
word Republican appealed to those who recalled Jeffersonian republicanism . They
were also called the GOP, or The Grand Old Party, and dates back to 1875. In the
Party s first nominating convention, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 17, 1856,

Scenario Mandeep Singh Abstract The present study is an attempt to calculate the
sector wise linkages in a post reform period for the Indian economy. To do such
analysis, the whole economy is aggregated into three main sectors such as
agriculture, industry and services. All the linkages have been calculated for two
points of time by utilizing data on two input output transaction tables for the period
1993/94 and 2006/07. The overall analysis reveals the services sector expansion over
the years. The highest linkages of the industrial sector also stress to increase the
amount of investment in this sector to expand other sectors as well. 1. Introduction...

Space Noise And The Separation Of Noise Generated
Within...
The major acoustical issues in public buildings are concerned with the exclusion of
outdoor noise and the separation of noise generated within the buildings. This
chapter will consider specific types of public buildings in which acoustic designs
are a matter of importance, such as schools, offices, libraries, recreational
buildings, hospitals and government buildings. To obtain a space free from the
annoyance of noise and excessive reverberation, a few step one could take would be
as follows: planning the build with consideration of noise insulation so that rooms
which contain sources of considerable noise level are separated from rooms that are
required to silent; providing sufficient noise insulation for rooms where silence is
need as well as implementing soundabsorption to reduces the reverberation and noise
created by that room to a more acceptable level. It is well to recognise that
uncontrolled noise in public buildings will diminish their utility
Since the dawn of the twenty first century, public school have shown more attention
to acoustical problems in part due to the increased use of open planning, more
informal teaching methods and an increased use of audio visual aids. Classroom
acoustics should neither be too high nor too low, but rather a balance of reflective
finishes to aid teaching and absorptive finish away from the front of the classroom
to avoid sound blurring cross reflections. The UK recommendation on the decibel
level in classes is at 40dB however a
Explain The Natural And Built Features Of The Spit
There are both natural and built features present at The Spit. Natural features
include a long beach, parklands and lots of trees and shrubs on the side of the road.
Built features include a sea world theme park and resort with a large car park for
each as well as a one lane road and on the side of the beach there are rock walls and
every few kilometres there are watch towers. Currently The Spit is used in several
ways such as a retail precinct, accommodation, and fishing, it is also used as a
tourist attraction by having a beautiful beach that people can swim, hang out or have
a nice jog around. Another use is that The Spit is used for housing and businesses
that provide many services for the local area. There are some conservation methods
Sale And Lease Back Strategy
Strategy:
1) Sale and lease back Strategy:
Indigo Airlines followed a unique sale and lease back strategy which is found to be
very effective (Raja Prabhakar, 2013). It is an agreement between the airline and the
leasing company. The aircraft which is delivered from the manufacturer is
immediately leased to a leasing company by the airline and again the same aircraft is
taken back for lease for five years. At the end of five years the aircraft is
permanently handed over to the leasing company. This strategy makes the airline
free from debt associated to the aircraft, depreciation etc. and also the airline gets
some extra profit apart from the investment made. So, there will be enough cash
available with the airline to make reinvestments. Indigo made a profit of $4 to $5
million on each complete transaction (Mueller, 2013).
Indigo is the most active user of this strategy in the LCC segment in the world.
Indigo completed 37 such transactions in two years period from 2011 to 1st May
2013 (Raja Prabhakar, 2013). Virgin Australia is the second largest user of this
strategy which has completed 35 transactions. India s Spicejet also have completed
28 transactions and is after Lion Air (Mueller, 2013).
Indigo leases an aircraft for an average lease period of five and half years. This
approach avoids the costly maintenance repairs of aircrafts that would creep in after
6 years. Mainly D check (maintenance check) will be due at this time which is very
expensive
Tetrafluoro Phthalate Crystalss And Their Types Of Crystals
Semi organic nonlinear optical materials are receiving a great deal of attention, as
they have large optical susceptibilities, inherent ultra fast response times and high
optical thresholds for laser power compared with inorganic materials. In the present

The Chinese Culture
1.0Introduction
The term culture has many meanings depending on the context in which it is
placed. Culture could mean the way that people have been used to a set system of
activities until it becomes a part of their inheritable knowledge, which they can pass
to the next generations. Customs and beliefs can also form the culture of people
who live in a common geographical location or the era in which they are living. In
the corporate world, for example, in an organization, the term culture can refer to as
the team spirit of the employees of that organization. It can also be defined as the set
objectives that the staff of an organization is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are many carvings in the Chinese museums, which were done centuries ago.
The carvings showed things like; how the Chinese are people who nurture creativity,
and this has explained the reason for their creativity even in this technological world.
Another art invented by the Chinese was the martial arts. The Chinese are well
known for practicing Kung Fu, and it has become a well known art in the
entertainment industry. Kung Fu was invented by copying the attacking techniques
of animals, and the Chinese has used it as an act of self defense to the extent that
there are Kung Fu classes that are taught for a fee.
Up until today, the Chinese still embrace their culture, and little westernization has
penetrated into the Chinese culture.
4.0Religion
In China, there have been strict laws governing religion, and some of the religions
have been declared illegal. Some of the commonly practiced religions are
Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, and Buddhism. Apart from the ones mentioned,
there are also traditional religions such as Confucianism. Despite the religious
restrictions, the Chinese are believers in supernatural beings and they conserve their
traditional religion. At various times of the year, the Chinese go for pilgrimages to
honor their deities and their children are taught how to worship from when they are
in kindergarten.

Literary Analysis Of Adela Strangeworth And Emily
Grierson
In the short stories A Possibility of Evil by Shirley Jackson and A Rose for Emily
by William Faulkner arrogance is a constant problem showed by the main
characters. Both have similar characteristics on how the authors use Adela
Strangeworth and Emily Grierson to portray this nobility to the readers. These two
pieces of writing were published in the mid 1900 s in the Victorian Era. This pairing
of these stories bring out the way arrogance is treated by a gap between the older and
new generation, main characters holding themselves higher, and Both pieces of fiction
display a feud between the older and younger generation, which is a characteristic
of southern gothic writing. The settings are held in an extremely primitive
victorian era. In A Rose for Emily Miss Emily is seen as a duty (Line 9) to her
small town. As a result of this established rule Colonel Sartoris remitted her taxes
(Line 13) to help with her father s death. However when the next generation [...]
became mayors and alderman (line 22 24) they had more modernistic views than
the Colonel, part of the old generation, had previously had. To them this
arrangement created some little dissatisfaction (Line 24 25). This rivalry built a riff
between the two age groups, and this is also present in A Possibility of Evil . Adela
Strangeworth gets intimidated when a baby girl s parents call her a princess, (Line
60). Adela holds herself above everyone in the town that she often thought belonged

Dionyysus Research Paper
Dionysus birth was imaginatively created by the Greeks to fit along with Dionysus
role in the world.
Dionysus was the son of the god Zeus and the mortal woman Semele, and because
of this he is the only god with a mortal parent. The story tells that Zeus went to
Semele in the night, unnoticed by human eyes, but his divine presence could be felt.
Feeling this presence herself, Semele was pleased to be the lover of a god. Word soon
got around about this Affair and Hera (the goddess wife of Zeus) quickly came to a
conclusion as to who was responsible. Hera went to Semele in disguise and
convinced her she should see her lover as he really was, not knowing of Hera s
intentions, Semele agreed with her. When Zeus visited her again, she made him
promise to grant her one wish. She went so far as to make him swear on the River
Styx that he would grant her request. Zeus was madly in love and agreed. She then
asked him to show her his true form. Zeus was unhappy knowing what was about to
happen, but bound by his promise, he had no choice. He appeared in his ... Show

The Titans ripped him to pieces; however, Rhea brought him back to life. After this,
Zeus arranged for his protection and gave him to the mountain nymphs to be raised.
From then on Dionysus wandered the world actively spreading his cult throughout
the mortals. While other gods had temples to be worshipped at, the followers of
Dionysus worshipped him in the woods. There, they might go into a state of ecstasy
and madness, ripping apart and eating raw any creature they might stumble upon.
Dionysus was also one of the very few characters able to bring a dead person back
from the underworld. Even though he had never seen or been with his mother
Semele, he was concerned for her wellbeing. Eventually, he journeyed into the
underworld to find her. He faced down Thanatos and brought her back to Mount
The Language Of Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a city located on the southern coast of China with more than 90% of its
population being ethnic Chinese. Cantonese, English and Mandarin are three
commonly used languages in Hong Kong. With the return of sovereignty from Britain
to China, Hong Kong shifts from a British colony into a special administrative region
of China. Due to this historical background, Hong Konghas experienced significant
changes in social, political and economic aspects over the past few decades. The
use of languages in Hong Kong is no exception. These three languages play
different roles and serve different functions over time. This paper is designed to
give a broad overview on the language used in Hong Kong. It begins with a brief
introduction of Hong Kong s social, economic and political background, then goes on
to investigate the changing status and roles of three languages in the government,
business and mass media sector and discuss people s attitudes towards the languages
over time. The paper concludes with a summary of the change of language.

Jeans Are A Modern Staple Of Everyone s Closet
Jeans are a modern staple in everyone s closet. They are versatile and look great on
everyone, if you have the perfect pair. Not all jeans cater to everyone s needs; you
must find your preferred jean brand. Jeans are an article of clothing I invest in, much
like many other people. I suffered through ill fitting jeanall throughout middle school,
until I was enlightened. My sister took me to American Eagle picked out a pair for
me to try on. I could immediately feel and see the quality difference. The jeans

throughout my childhood. American Eagle Jeans had set a new standard for me.
They offer an extensive variety in styles, washes, and sizes. The only small flaw is
their retail pricing, but it is certainly worth the investment. American Eagle jeans are
made out of a premium cotton denimmaterial called Cotton Elastane and top of the
line dyes. Cotton Elastane is breathable, elastic, flexible, and comfortable. This ninety
nine percent cotton one percent elastane blend of fabrics is what sets American Eagle
Jeans from other jean brands that produce a product that is stiff, unbreathable,
uncomfortable, and restrictive. This premium material is extremely durable,
withstanding multiple washes and wears with no signs of weakening. Through all of
the washes and wears they still manage to keep their elasticity. Other jeans I have
had would lose their original shape, color and fit after just a

According to the Core Institute, an organization that surveys college drinking
practices, 300,000 of today s college students will eventually die of alcohol related
causes such as drunk driving accidents, cirrhosis of the liver, various cancers and
heart disease (Phoenix House). All around the State campus, at frat parties, in black
light lit dorm rooms, and even at casual social gatherings, alcohol can be found in

People who are normally shy tend to come out of their shells after a couple drinks.
To many people, being under the influence of alcohol is an important part of being
social. In order to gain a clear understanding of why the average college student
drinks, I asked ten drinkers in my house what their main reasons for drinking are.
The most prevalent reasons given for drinking were that drinking heightens their
feelings of pleasure, allows them to be more social and have more fun, and frees
their mind, taking them away from their problems. A few said that they simply enjoy
drinking because they like the taste. Considering alcohol s ability as a mind altering
substance to relax people and make them feel good, it really is not surprising that
many college students drink.
However, what also must be considered are the alternatives to drinking. A variety
of relaxation techniques exist to help people reduce stress and clear their minds.
Among other activities, yoga, massages, and enjoyable hobbies have been shown to
reduce anxiety in people. Also, people can receive psychotherapy or take
medication to help deal with shyness (Shyness Clinic). There are over 500
organizations here at Iowa State, making it easy for almost anyone to get involved
and have fun without resorting to alcohol. For those who drink alcohol for the taste,
surely they can find non alcoholic drinks that they enjoy drinking in place of alcohol.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson and Community in First Person Narratives The prevalent
use of first person narration in young adult literature can help create a connection
between the narrator and the reader. However, the discourses surrounding adult
writers of YA literature draws attention to a failure in the authenticity of these
connections. Gail Gauthier s Whose Community? Where is the YA in YA Literature?
ponders the nature of adolescents interaction with YA literature written by adults.
Amanda Haertling Thein and Mark A. Sulzer, on the other hand, examine how first
person narratives function in Illuminating Discourses of Youth through the Study of
First Person Narration in Young Adult Literature. The ideas in these two articles can
be synthesized to examine instead how first person narrative can foster a sense of
community when adults write YA literature. I believe that Gauthier s examination of
communitas and Thein and Sulzer s theory on first person narrative can illuminate
how Will Grayson, Will Grayson s narrators interact in conversation with each other
and the reader in its attempt to create community. Gail Gauthier focuses on notions of
community between the adolescent reader and protagonist, facilitated by the adult
writer, and how this affects why and how adolescents are reading. Gauthier uses
Robert Daly s theory of communitas as this basis to describe the connection between
adolescents this is a sense of comradeship among equals to which liminality

Causes of American War of Independence
The Causes of American War of Independence The American Revolutionary War
(1775 1783), also known as the American War of Independence, was a conflict that
erupted between Great Britain and revolutionaries within thirteen British colonies,
who declared their independence as the United States of America in 1776. The war
was the culmination of the American Revolution, a colonial struggle against political
and economic policies of the British Empire. The war eventually widened far beyond
British North America; many Native Americans also fought on both sides of the
conflict. Throughout the war, the British were able to use their naval superiority to
capture and occupy coastal cities, but control of the countryside (where most of the...

Tens of thousands of slaves escaped to the British lines, although possibly as few as
1,000 served under arms. Many of the rest served as orderlies, mechanics, laborers,
servants, scouts and guides, although more than half died in smallpox epidemics that
swept the British forces, and a number were driven out of the British lines when food
ran low. Despite Dunmore s promises, the majority were not given their freedom. Due
to manpower shortages, Washington lifted the ban on black enlistment in the
Continental Army in January 1776. All black units were formed in Rhode Island and
Massachusetts; many were slaves promised freedom for serving in lieu of their

black soldiers fought for the Revolutionary cause. Most American Indians east of the
Mississippi River were affected by the war, with many communities dividing over the
question of how to respond to the conflict. Most Native Americans who joined the

expanding American settlement. An estimated 13,000 warriors fought on the British
side; the largest group, the Iroquois Confederacy, fielded about 1,500 men. War in the

Zebra Mussels
In 2014, Excelsior Brewing Co. of Minnesota launched a beer with two unusual
ingredients Zebra Mussels and Eurasian Water Milfoil. The milfoil and the shells
of the mussels in the beer don t provide flavor, but are more for the novelty (Smith,
2014). But why would people ever pay money to drink beer with seaweed in it? To
help get the Zebra Mussels and Eurasian Water Milfoil out of their lakes. These are
two of the worst aquatic invasive species in Minnesota, and are a huge problem in

Alice Walker s The One-Way Diner
You might have thought this was a normal fairy tale with a happy ending, but you
d be wrong. Happy endings aren t always good, although they are easy to write.
This is a story you ve heard before, but not like this, not the way Alice saw it. It was
a rainy day in the middle of April. She sat in the local hometown diner, The One
Way Diner, appropriately named for being on a one way street. Sitting down at her
normal booth, she returned to writing her novel, which she still couldn t think of a
name for. She didn t look up from her work as she ordered, but she did notice that
the voice wasn t a familiar one like all of the other waitresses at the diner. Finishing
a chapter, she looked up as he waiter brought back her order. She first noticed... Show

wish you a happy unbirthday, since I do think it might be your last... With that, a
deck of cards burst in the diner door. She recognized the scene all too well as they
marched over to her, standing in two perfect rows, then doing several well
rehearsed card tricks before a woman walked in. Alice s heart stopped and her heart
dropped, because the last time she had seen this woman, she had wanted Alice
dead. The Joker card stepped forward. All hail the Queen of Hearts! The Queen
waltzed over, waving to the innocent bystanders as she did, although no one had
noticed the playing cards of the grand entrance of the Queen. She then stopped in

Past Mistakes Of America Research Paper
Americans have a habit of not paying attention to History. Americans learn in school
that history is important because we can learn from our past mistake, but that is not
all there is to it. Learning from past mistake is not all to our histories importance.
History has a big influence on people who study it, so it is not just about learning it
to pass a class, but it is about the impact it makes on Americans.
Whether we like it or not, history is always going to be there. There was a journey
America took to get where we are today. Today the US is one of the most developed
countries in the world. We have so many resources to become even more successful,
but Americans tend to not notice one of the best resources, which is our history. We
have new technology that allows us to see more and more of the past. We can look
back and see mistakes that were made, and what success we had, and now we have
the opportunity to do avoid past mistakes and carry out the success. So yes, our
teachers were right. We learn history to avoid making the same or similar mistakes,
but not only that. One can see what success America has made and make it even
greater. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why it is so important to learning our history. Some would say that America
is going downhill, but all we have to do is look at what we had in the past and see
how good it was. We should stand together and remember how America was built,
and what we were built to stand for. We have to know where we even started and to
get back to it, and we need to know what we were in the past to know who we are
Exploration Of Myself As A Learner
Exploration of Myself as a Learner I went to Strath Haven, a public high school in
a fairly wealthy suburb of Philadelphia. Because my school district was
academically successful and did not suffer financially, I was able to enjoy many
perks that other schools have been forced to cut such as a rich arts program and
myriad electives. In addition to an honors track, Strath Haven offers many
Advanced Placement courses and allows students to take classes at nearby
Swarthmore College. In high school, I probably would have been described as a
well rounded student : I was an AP/honors student, took a class at Swarthmore,
competed as a three season athlete, and presided over the book club. As I will
discuss later in my profile, I struggled a lot with time management skills, a problem
I would say has worsened since I started university. For the most part, though, my
teachers naturally catered to my learning needs. However, while I was still there,
Strath Haven used the Integrated Math Program, which purports to foster creative
and critical thinking because it calls on students to experiment with examples, look
for and articulate patterns, and make, test, and prove conjectures (IMP website).
Instead, IMP made me feel lost, and I yearned for the example based approach used
by my middle school teachers. I was unsurprised when the test in Brain Based
Strategies identified me as a strong left brain. This definitely reminded me of my
experiences with IMP because, according to
The Mystery of Ancient Civilization s Buidling of Massive...
Have you ever wondered how ancient civilization built massive structures? Many
ancient civilizations built things that served a multitude of purposes. Most of the
purposes of these structures are already known but, there still may be unknown uses
for the thing these ancient civilizations built. There also many different ancient
civilizations like the Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Egyptian, Mayans, and Aztecs. Many
of the things built in ancient times influenced the things that we build today. For
example, the coliseum influenced the basic designs of modern football stadiums.
Also the designs made by these ancient civilizations helped to change the way other
civilizations made there monuments. For example, when the romans started to
different types of columns and arches the style was adopted, modified, and used in
the designs of cathedrals in Europe .There are many parts of these ancient buildings
still undiscovered. For example there could still be sealed rooms in the pyramids of
Giza. Usually when people start to research architecture made by ancient civilizations,
they have to answer how were they built, and what were they built for.
There were many things built in the period of ancient Greece that had many different
uses. Ancient Greeks were the first to build lighthouses. The first one was
originally one of the Seven Wonders of the World and was used to guide ships to
shore. It used wicker lamps as a light source so the light could only be seen from a
few miles away. The

Song Of Roland
The Norton Anthology, a book containing countless stories and tales of heroism,
holds a rather confusing final verse to one of its great stories, the Song of Roland.
This final line catches all those who read it, trying to understand its true meaning.
One must understand the final verse to fully understand the story. The confusion
surrounding the concluding line exists due to the ancient and unclear language
Turold wrote the story in. Through the seven translations he also changes the
wording in several diverse ways. Along with the confusing language and wording,
scholars have formed opinions about the meaning of the final line. Of the several
possible meanings of the last line of Song of Roland, each one affects the resolve and
meaning of the entire story in different ways through the confusing language, changes

Due to the confusing ancient Anglo Norman language, the final line stating Ci falt la

meaning of the words geste and declinet and the syntax of que still stand unresolved.

My Interest Towards Family Medicine
My interest towards family medicine began during my early childhood years. I
grew up in a small and developing city called Salalah, Oman where health care
resources were sparse. Back in 1990 s, immigrants from low income and middle
class families could not afford health care. My mother, a nurse, and her friend, a
primary care physician, were considered the healers of our neighborhood. Families
and neighbors, who were sick, wounded, or in need of medical advice, came to them
for help. I grew up watching them become the de facto healthcare resources of our
neighborhood. This inspired me to venture into the field of medicine.
After moving to New York, I was determined to take advantage of the opportunities I
had. While volunteering at a nursing home through church, I met several family
physicians and internists. I was impressed by their professionalism while interacting
with patients. All patients were treated with the same delicate care, despite their array
of debilitated statuses. Poor hygiene did not distract the physician, but rather it urged
them to provide medical care to the best of their ability. The patients felt this and their
immense gratitude was palpable. I realized how imperative it was for any physician to
value their character, attitude, and skill. My experiences inspired me to continue
volunteering at nursing homes and church events, where I could give a helping hand
to those in need. In turn, I developed a compassionate, comforting, and respectful
attitude.

Contrasting Themes Essay
Contrasting Themes?
When has one ever seen a film that could compare to the words written in the book?
Movies are almost always different, almost always never compare, and almost
always have a different premise than that expressed by a novel. The reason, one
wonders, is because you have to keep the audience interested. Ambrose Bierce s short
story and Robert Enrico s film adaptation entitled, An Occurrence on Owl Creek
Bridge, is a great example of differing themes in a piece of work. In the entry, evident
themes include: reality verses imagination and deception, war, death and dying, and
time. Some are expressed in the film clearly, while others are hidden to the untrained
eye. Bierce laid a concrete foundation for the theme of ... Show more content on

Though both the motion picture and short narrative both fully cover the theme of
imagination verses reality, the story allowed its readers to find clues that he was
most likely dreaming. Statements and observations such as he could view the
individual trees, the leaves and veining of each leaf he saw the very insect upon
them... and being able to see the grey eye of his shooter allows the readers to make
their own assumptions that this is probably not reality (Bierce). In the film, the
ending came as a shock almost, yet in the story, it was not that big of a surprise (An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge). There are no indications that the lead character
was dreaming. The theme of reality verses imagination leads to another important
theme that can be found as the embodiment of the story. It is evident that Bierce
was making many references to war in his entry. The whole story was built upon
the idea; from the setting to the cause of Fahrquhar s death and from the shots being
fired to the reference to the Confederacy. War was directly linked to the previously
mentioned theme, imagination verses reality. The central character wants to be a
war hero; which is an apparent desire he had since he could not actually take part in
the war effort for reasons not mentioned. Thus his view of war was seen through a
rose tinted glass metaphorically speaking.

The novel suggests that the community of Lexington was not in favor of war,
rather they just wanted to secure their rights and their belongings from the
marching British soldiers who, it was feared, will plunder the town. The
community had the courage to bear arms just to safeguard themselves as is
suggested by the address of reverend of Lexington to the people. He says, Here we
stand with our arms in hand, but with no belligerence in our hearts (Fast, 1961).
The rights of the people were not safeguarded by the British and it was in the air
that wherever the British went, they just put the people to ignominy by raping
their women; they also plundered their wealth and savings. Those who had
stopped the British from doing that were mercilessly beaten and some were put to
death. These things created fear and terror in the minds of the people. They were
ready to fight against the British soldiers but here it worth noting that the people
of Lexington were not fighting because of any national fervor or jingoism but they
were fighting for their own cause, just to safeguard their property and lives. The
role of community in this regard was very crucial and it was a great sight watching
all the people gathered at the call of duty. The community is considered a real

Word Play in Hamlet
Word Play in Hamlet
A principal theme in Shakespeare s Hamlet is the strength and flexibility of language.
Words are used to communicate ideas, but can also be used to distort or conceal the
truth and manipulate. Throughout the play characters comment on the properties of
language and exploit these for their own advantage.
Claudius, the shrewd politician is the most obvious example of a man who
manipulates words to enhance his own power, possessing a professional grasp of
the language. Using this he can oppress people and assert his authority, as we see
him doing when delivering a polished speech to the council. He cleverly justifies the

What wouldst thou beg, Laertes?
The comment above is ridiculous in its context, since Laertes has so far not been
permitted to speak, never mind `lose his voice. The King oppresses him to a great
extend, through the constant questioning, through the unnerving repetition of his
name and finally through reducing verbs like `beg , referring to the manner of
speech Laertes uses to request his leave, one that the King has not yet heard. Claudius
adopts entirely different manners of speech, depending on to whom he is speaking.
On this occasion he controls in a way he would not, when conversing with others.
So, we have seen how Claudius exploits language to evade, oppress and assert his
power. Yet, we also see how he uses language to advance his political situation and
the view of the people. Upon seeing Hamlet he greets him slightly strangely:
`But now, my cousin Hamlet and my son

What Is The Importance Of Opening Up A Business
The Bible promise is that if one is diligent to do these things, one will have: goats
milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the maintenance
for your maidens. Which means there will be money and food for your family and
servants. Your business will meet all your material needs. But this provision is
conditional, and it hinges on whether you do your part properly. Obviously, from
this it is easy to see that running a business is not a matter of opening a shop, putting
some things into it, and hoping people come and buy. It is an intelligent activity,
which involves a lot of planning. It takes foresight, wise decisions and consideration
of many factors. New businesses need to work out the general parameters of... Show

SO God tells the wicked to forsake their thoughts as well as their behaviour,
because these are both a breach of the moral code, and in the business context, all
morally corrupt plans must be abandoned in order to best ensure success. This is
also why many countries have a preserved weight or measure somewhere safe from
which all other weights and measures are ascertained. This is why the world has an
atomic clock, and a Greenwich Meantime, and the word tare on trucks, and energy
consumption stickers on washing machines, and so on. Any business that does
not charge fair price for accurate measures is courting disaster. When goods are
imported, they usually go to an importer s warehouse, from which they are sold to
retailers, and then to customers, so there is always a marking up of the price at
each step. If possible, it pays for a business to do the importing direct from the
country, but this usually involves a large outlay, however, once the goods have
arrived, the business can make an even larger fair profit. On the other hand,
exporting is part of the manufacturing side of business, and involves many
difficulties. One has to buy materials, pay staff, and find overseas customers. But it
happens. If you can produce something people want at a fair price, your business
will work, and if it were too difficult, which it isn t, hardly anyone would bother to
try. Take a tip from Solomon: put God first, obey God s Law, and expect to see

European And Non-European Expansion In The 1500s And
1600s
Europeans had many ambitions throughout the 1500s and 1600s. To achieve their
goals, they deferred to the non European culture. The main question remains: how did
the Europeans accommodate themselves to Non European culture? The European
traders and missionaries would accommodate themselves by integrating into the Non
European culture, by adapting their physical appearance, by referring to the traditional
practices, and through the response of the native people wants to European goods.
For Europe s influence to be successful across the world, they had a guide written
by Father Jean de BrГ©beuf, called Instructions for The Fathers of Our Society Who
Shall Be Sent to The Hurons. In this small guide, Father Jean, writes instruction for
other European members to follow in order to be successful in their influence in the
new world. The thought of being the superior race, followed them to the new world,
so embracing a culture that they thought was low class, was a big change to the
European men. As to the other numerous things which may be unpleasant, they must
be endured for the love of God, without saying anything or appearing to notice them.
They did not do anything that contradicts the Natives belief, as they were trying to
convert them to the idealized culture. They were doing so in a way that the Natives
did not realize they were being converted. So, the Europeans change their normal
customs, to gain their trust. In which they accommodate to non European ways. The

Amazon will allow you to loana Kindle book for 14 days. During that time you will

There is another major reason may explain why events have become an
increasingly important of inner urban competition attract by event attendee and
visitors in the last few years is the cost of building a city landmark (Paddison,
1993). Because visitors are fascinated by cities landmark and people will be
encouraged to visit the same place more than one time by hosting different events at
the landmark area for visitors interests of exploring the new culture. They usually
represent a less costly to distinguish places and normally generates a significant
media interests (Paddison, 1993). The consequence is the cities are competing with
each other for the honour of hosing large events to promote themselves to a greater
market (Hall, 1992).
Since tourism is one of the largest multination economy activities (Friedman, 1994).
To compete in a globe marketplace require hosts abilities of good responds to a
culturally different tourism which is the main factor to determine positive tourism
holiday experience and satisfaction (Plangmarn, Mujtaba Pirani, 2012). Therefore, the
operation of cultural events will be considered as a very efficient respond to motive
visitors and event attendee experience from a culturally different environment consist
of good local food and wine.

The Song Analysis OfHey, Jude, By Paul Mccartney
Hey, Jude was written by The Beatles band member, Paul McCartney in 1970.
McCartney originally titled the song as Hey, Jules as an ode to John Lennon s son
Jules, who was in the forefront of his parents divorce. McCartney ultimately decided
to change the title to Hey, Jude after hearing the name in a movie and liking the
sound of the name. The voice of Hey, Jude is encouraging and urges Jude to not give
up during hard times. Paul McCartneyacts as the persona, taking an influential role in
Jude s life. Hey, Jude contains poetic elements that add to the overall effect of the
song, including rhyme, symbolism, and multiple sound techniques. Paul McCartney

Multiple sound techniques are used in Hey, Jude to aide the song to take a poetic feel.
McCartney, the lead singer, physically sings the song in a happy, almost
encouraging manner. John, George, and Ringo, the other band members, add
backup vocals to aide McCartney in bringing forth an encouraging tone. The tempo
of the music is 3 beats per measure, which is moderately fast. Given that the fast
tempo helps give the song an upbeat and encouraging tone, it contributes to the
effect of the song. The stanzas of Hey, Jude are relatively similar in length, each
having a similar rhyme scheme. The words of the song follow a pattern of stressed
and unstressed syllables, which is referred to as rhythm. The rhythm greatly affects
how the listener interprets that meaning. Repetition of phrases like, Hey, Jude, and,
Then you can start to make it better, are used to emphasize the phrases importance in
the song. The repetition allows listeners to remember the line and, because of this, is
considered a way McCartney manipulated sound. McCartney used tricks within the
music, like rhythm and repetition, to create a poetic feeling. The feeling the music
brings forth adds to the overall effect of the song. All things considered, the
comprehensive meaning of the song Hey, Jude has changed for me as I carefully
listened for the McCartney s use of poetry. Paul

Credibility Was A Strength For Me
1.)Credibility was a strength for me. The books illustrates that to present with
professional excellence, you must demonstrate credibility and help your audience
believe you and the information or argument you are presenting (250). I felt I did a
good job in the way I explained my experience in the music industry and how I ve
been successful. I didn t just rush into my main points and I allowed the audienceto
believe what I am saying is credible. Secondly, the design an informative speech I
felt was another strength of mine. The book says try to incorporate a variety of
supporting material such as examples, statistics, and quotes (253). The way I used
the quote from Troy Carter I feel gained attention because when I mentioned he was

The book explains, a well designed conclusion can elevate a presentation from
average to excellent, whereas a poor conclusion can make an otherwise excellent
presentation fall flat (279) . This is something I need to work on because I feel I
did great explaining my main points but from watching the video and putting
myself in the perspective of the audience I realized my ending was very weak. I
was to focused on memorizing the main points and details that I forgot about my
conclusion. The books makes great points that in order to allow the audience to
know when a conclusion is coming phrases like In conclusion , In summary , As I
close , or I would like to end with can all be good transition phrases. One more
weakness I would say was the lack of research to support my ideas. In regards to
how to gather a speech the book says the research you need in order to develop and
support your presentation can and should come from a variety of sources.
Depending on the topic, you must use internal sources, external sources, or a
combination of two (272) From watching the video I felt I used to many internal
sources and not enough external sources. I was disappointed because I had many
sources at hand but I didn t mention them as much as I would have liked because I
was so worried about forgetting my body of the speech. In order to improve this I
will have a sheet in front of me with the sources as a guide. I think I would have
been able to remember to mention the sources if I had a reminder in front of
Death And The After Life Essay
Introduction
Death and dying is experienced by every person in every culture. No one escapes
death, but the ways that the following cultures view death, mourning and the after
life are very different. This paper will explore the different death and dying cultures
of Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. Each of these cultures
shares a unique perspective on death that has withstood centuries of living.
Jewish
The Jewish culture is very traditional and orthodox. In Judaism, death is not a
tragedy, even when it occurs early in life or through unfortunate circumstances.
Death is a natural process. Our deaths, like our lives, have meaning and are all part
of God s plan. Jews have a firm belief in an afterlife, and this will be awarded to
those who have lived a worthy life. Mourning practices in Judaism are extensive, but
they are not an expression of fear or distaste for death. Jewish practices relating to
death and mourning have two purposes: to show respect for the dead, and to comfort
the living.
After a person dies, the eyes are closed, the body is laid on the floor and covered,
and candles are lit next to the body. The body is never left alone until after burial,
as a sign of respect. Most communities have an organization to care for the dead,
known as the chevra kaddisha (the holy society). These people are volunteers. The
presence of a dead body is considered a source of ritual impurity. For this reason, a
priest may not be in the presence of a
Electronic Health Record And Emergency Room
Unconscious Essay
A woman was brought into your Emergency Room unconscious. She was the driver
of a vehicle and was alone in the car. She has no purse or identification with her.
The police were able to identify her by her license plate number. You are unable to
obtain a history of this patient because you know nothing about her. How do you
know what her allergies are or what medications she is currently taking? Thank
goodness you are able to access her Electronic Health Recordand obtain a complete
history. An Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a computerized digital chart as
opposed to a paper chart. This electronic record will contain the patient s allergies,
medications, diagnosis, labs, radiology reports and treatment plans. The Electronic
Health Record impacts the delivery of health care and specifically nursing. This is
because often time s patients are unable to be a good historian of their health
history. Family members are often times not very helpful either. The EHR makes it
possible for all disciplines regardless of location to see what the other disciplines
are doing. There are two different types of Electronic records. The Electronic Health
Record (EHR) and the Electronic Medical Record(EMR).
1.Electronic Health Record
Health information recorded digitally
Sharing of information in real time
Medical information that moves with the patient
Access to important information to be used by providers when making decisions

The Landlady Compare And Contrast
What s the best horror story you ve ever read? And you ever compared them and or

can find out how to do a t chart as well as a venn diagram in this essay. Also in this
compare and contrast this will be telling you about the stories that are being compared
and contrasted.I will also tell you my opinion on these magnificent short stories.
Tell Tale Heart is a great short horror story all about a butler who is mad about his
master s eye which has a rare disease that makes it a faded blue. It basically makes
the butler completely insane it would haunt him in his sleep so he got a small light
and tried to fix it without having to kill the master. But eventually the butler got
caught and the master sat up and looked at the door with the butler there not moving
at all.A few moments later the butler went insane and hit his master right in the head
and knocked the poor old man out then pushed his bead on top of him and jumped
onto the bead killing the old man. After that he cut up the body and completely
dismembered it into many pieces in a bathtub so he could just wash the blood down
the drain. But as the butler was killing the master he was caught in the act by his ...

Both of these stories were very creepy and horrific. The Landlady was a silent killer
as well as the butler in Tell Tale Heart they were also both smart killer just the boy
wasn t that clever about his murder. The stories both ended in a cliffhanger which
really made me mad because I was really into both of the stories. They also both
acted like they were pretty trusting people so they were obviously liked. They also
both killed their victims at nighttime. They were also both short stories instead of

Influenza Pandemics
Throughout the history, influenza viruses have caused several pandemics or global
epidemics, killing many people. For example, the influenza strike in 1918 to 1919
infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide, which is one third of the planet
s population at the time and killed an estimated 20 million to 50 million people.
More than 25 percentage of the U.S. population were affected, and caused 675,000
deaths in U.S during the pandemic.(History, 2015). There were no effective
treatments for this type of influenzaand no available vaccines can prevent its spread
during the period. (History, 2015) U.S government required general population to
wear masks and other protective equipments in public areas, and many public places
also closed due to the influenza strike. Health care providers tried everything they
knew to save people, but none shows any evidence of effects. (National Center for
Biotechnology Information [NCBI], 2015). Scientists found out that the influenza
virus had invaded their lungs and caused pneumonia, which made so many people
died from the pandemic (History,2015). Another influenza strike happened... Show

Judith Butler What s Wrong With All Lives Matter
Many people would assume that every person is treated as an equal. However, it is
very clear that not all lives are treated equal, even if they are technically considered
to be. It s impossible to ignore the fact that African American people have been
treated as lesser human beings. The interview conducted with Judith Butler titled
What s Wrong With All Lives Matter, addressed the ongoing issue between the
equality between a black and white individual White privilege plays a big role in
why we continue to struggle with the issue of racism. The word racism will always
leave a mark on our world, because no matter how hard our society tries to rid
ourselves of it, there will always be racism somewhere, poisoning the surrounding
people. During the interview, Butler states that it is true that all lives matter, but it
is equally true that not all lives are understood to matter which is precisely why it is
most important to name the lives that have not mattered, and are struggling to matter
in the way they deserve. Initially, this quote angered me in the sense that I believed
everyone is treated equal and it is unfair to make that statement. It is possible that
others had a similar reaction as the one I did. However, Butler expresses this thought
because if you truly sit down to think about it, there are people of color still being...

My Writing That I Did Not Know Before
Over the course of this class I have learned many things about writing that I did not
know before, because I never had any great instruction before i came to college. In
Grade school and high school, when I got back a graded paper there would just be
words crossed out, or punctuation corrections. There would never be any
explanation as to why I need to correct this, or why this is wrong. I would go over
the corrections and wonder how this is wrong and why does a comma go there but
why doesn t a comma go here. When reading the corrections and notes you made on
each of my papers this year, I more easily understood why something was wrong. I
might not have made the same corrections in the next paper, but each paper I got
back I understood what was wrong, and what I needed to do to correct it. I think I
understood more about writingwith each paper that I wrote this year. I might not
have shown it with each paper because I seem to always make the same errors. I
always get mixed up when using singular and plural nouns, using the same
adjective throughout the paper, and not being descriptive. I knew after you made
the corrections why something is wrong, but I never seemed to make the
corrections myself, because I have a habit of making those same mistakes, and
because it sounds like it is right to me because I speak that way myself. Those
errors I made in each of my papers seemed to be right at the time of me writing them,
but when you pointed them out to me after giving back

Zl1 Research Paper
Ford vs. Chevy , we have heard of this battle ever since the beginning of
horsepower in Ford and Chevrolet. This is a never ending battle that sparks and
rages somewhere in every fan of these great American made vehicles. We all want
to prove that our side is the best. Although the 2012 Camaro ZL1 has a powerful
engine, it is no match for the monstrous 2013 Shelby GT500. The Shelby thrashes
the ZL1 in all areas. According to Ford, the 2013 Shelby GT500 has a more
powerful engine than any other American made production car in the history of the

The top speed of the Camaro is impressive at 180 mph but it is consummately
thrashed by the Shelby, which will do a staggering 200 mph (Lloyd). There is no
hiding the 80 hp deficit in the ZL1 and despite the Shelby s hoggish handling, I
initially thought its powerful advantage was too great (Lloyd). The ZL1 has a
poor amount of horsepower, compared to the Shelby. With the Shelby having more
horsepower and a better top speed, the ZL1 will have to work with everything it
has in order to even come close to beating the Shelby. 0 60 MPH Time If one
thought that the ZL1 has an impressive 0 60 time of 3.9 seconds, prepare to be
amazed by the Shelby with an amazing 0 60 time of 3.5 seconds. It s a testament to
the Shelby s power that it makes the Camaro feel slow, and in a side by side race
the ZL1 is slow (Austin). Its smoking 0 60 time of 3.9 seconds, according to
Chevy, is also just a little bit slower than the Mustang (VersusBattle.com). The
Shelby has a slight advantage of 0.4 seconds over the ZL1. While this may not
seem like a great amount of time, at the drag strip, 0.4 seconds is a long time and
can determine a great win or great loss. Quarter Mile Drag

  • 2. Example Of Bad Brainwashing When the members of the Wave were subconsciously brainwashed they were out of touch with reality and the horror of what they were doing. And most of this is an effect of too much loyalty. They were not fully aware of what they were doing to the few kids who were smart enough to resist the Wave like the anonymous 11th grader and Lorie. Like the Nazis the wave members started as a little group which would expand and soon take over if not stopped. The Wave member s undying loyalty to Mr. Ross like the Nazi partymembers undying loyalty to Hitler are both examples of loyalty gone extreme and brainwashing taking over good people. After looking at all of this information I feel our stance on this is that it is bad when you are so loyal that you ignore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not thinking for yourself can make you do bad things. Some examples are dying your hair a different color, doing something you usually wouldn t do, or hurting someone you love. Sometimes getting things done faster can lead to consequences . One example of this is when the Nazi s were working together they killed a lot of jews which later led to remorse. You should never have lots of faith in one person because people can and will make mistakes which is why they should always have checks and balances. People need to take responsibility for their actions and not try to pass it on to someone else. People use the fact that they were given the order to do something they they shouldn t do. In conclusion we feel that blind loyalty can be a bad thing. As we have pointed out blind loyalty can leave a bad effect on people like when Robert feels left out again after the wave is over or after Nazi s are relieved of duty they have remorse. It can also mislead people it to traps and hurt them physically and mentally from what they do or say. There is a lot more blind loyalty than what we covered in this essay but what we covered we think was most important. We hope that this essay will inspire all of you to think for yourself and
  • 3. Anglo Saxon Warriors Anglo Saxon Warriors The loud scream of the Anglo Saxon warrior was heard as he takes his last breath during battle. His blood and guts pour out from the inside, fighting with no power left, his sword held high above his head, he drops to his knees, to his death. The Anglo Saxon society was built on vengeance and feuds. Starting in the Fifth Century, German Anglo Saxon warriors destroyed many towns and drove out many native residents in England. Soon, they took the crown in England and for about a decade the Anglo Saxon people migrated to different countries, taking their blood feud with them. This meant that, with the death of a kingsman, a man was expected to avenge his death. Cite). Life as an Anglo Saxon Warrior. The anglo saxons were like modern day isis The Anglo Saxon society, as a whole, revolved around warfare. Freemen and even teenagers were made into warriors and expected to fight during battle. Servants fought for their lords while freemen were rewarded with land. Anglo Saxon armies were usually small, with only a few hundred men. The soldiers carried a variety of different weapons: spears, axes, swords, and bows and arrows. When it comes to their armor however, there was not much protection seeing as they did not wear metal plate armor, but chainmail. This was most likely to make it easier to maneuver, walk, and battle on foot. They wore helmets on their heads however they mainly carried wooden shields. Everyone fought on foot during a battle.. • 4. Minimum Fines And Punishments For Drivers Every person that has operated a vehicle before, or has seen a vehicle operated, understands that while driving is a very convenient mode of transportation, it can also be extremely dangerous for vehicle operators and people near the roads which vehicles are operated on. These dangers are suppressed by the rules and regulations imposed by our governments. While some laws on roadways seem to be a nuisance to drivers, they are there for a reason, to keep us safe. One specific roadway area that the government is very concerned with keeping safe would be construction zones. Currently the fines and punishments for drivers who are ticketed and/or are involved in accidents in work zones are higher than they are in regular roadway areas. The question that this essay will explore is whether or not these higher fines are appropriate. Traffic laws are the jurisdiction of the state governments and because of this the laws imposed in work zones vary between each state. Currently in Michigan all fines for speeding are doubled in work zones. Speeding in Michigan s work zones can also result in increased points on your license. Furthermore, if you injure or kill a worker in a work zone in Michigan you face a $7,500 fine and 15 years in prison. About 32 other states also enforce the double fine laws in work zones, but 24 states with these laws require workers to be present. Missouri enforces one of the steepest penalties for worker endangerment, including up to a $10,000 fine. While these
  • 5. An Essay On The Republican Party The Republican Party has a total of 18 US presidents that were in office, the most of any political party to date. The Republican Party started with Abraham Lincoln and working its way down to George W Bush. The first start of the Party was in February, 1854, when antislavery Whigs met together to discuss a formation of a new political party. One such meeting on March 20th, 1854, in Wisconsin, is remembered as the Founding meeting of the Republican Party. The Civil War made the Republican Party victorious, but by 1876, the Republican Party had lost control of the South, but it continued to dominate the presidency until the election of FDR in 1933. Its humble beginnings began its triumphant start in its victories in congress as well as the world. In a small school house in Wisconsin, the year 1854, a small group of abolitionists joined together to create what is now known as the Republican Party. The group was full of antislavery Whigs, state powered governmental thinking democrats, and Free soilers bent on removing slavery from the United States. The day the group was actually founded was on July 6th, 1854. The founders of this new political party were Amos Truck, Horace Greeley, Salmon Chase and Charles Sumner. The word Republican appealed to those who recalled Jeffersonian republicanism . They were also called the GOP, or The Grand Old Party, and dates back to 1875. In the Party s first nominating convention, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 17, 1856, they

  • 7. Space Noise And The Separation Of Noise Generated Within... The major acoustical issues in public buildings are concerned with the exclusion of outdoor noise and the separation of noise generated within the buildings. This chapter will consider specific types of public buildings in which acoustic designs are a matter of importance, such as schools, offices, libraries, recreational buildings, hospitals and government buildings. To obtain a space free from the annoyance of noise and excessive reverberation, a few step one could take would be as follows: planning the build with consideration of noise insulation so that rooms which contain sources of considerable noise level are separated from rooms that are required to silent; providing sufficient noise insulation for rooms where silence is need as well as implementing soundabsorption to reduces the reverberation and noise created by that room to a more acceptable level. It is well to recognise that uncontrolled noise in public buildings will diminish their utility Since the dawn of the twenty first century, public school have shown more attention to acoustical problems in part due to the increased use of open planning, more informal teaching methods and an increased use of audio visual aids. Classroom acoustics should neither be too high nor too low, but rather a balance of reflective finishes to aid teaching and absorptive finish away from the front of the classroom to avoid sound blurring cross reflections. • 9. Sale And Lease Back Strategy Strategy: 1) Sale and lease back Strategy: Indigo Airlines followed a unique sale and lease back strategy which is found to be very effective (Raja Prabhakar, 2013). It is an agreement between the airline and the leasing company. The aircraft which is delivered from the manufacturer is immediately leased to a leasing company by the airline and again the same aircraft is taken back for lease for five years. At the end of five years the aircraft is permanently handed over to the leasing company. This strategy makes the airline free from debt associated to the aircraft, depreciation etc. and also the airline gets some extra profit apart from the investment made. So, there will be enough cash available with the airline to make reinvestments. Indigo made a profit of $4 to $5 million on each complete transaction (Mueller, 2013). Indigo is the most active user of this strategy in the LCC segment in the world. Indigo completed 37 such transactions in two years period from 2011 to 1st May 2013 (Raja Prabhakar, 2013). Literary Analysis Of Adela Strangeworth And Emily Grierson In the short stories A Possibility of Evil by Shirley Jackson and A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner arrogance is a constant problem showed by the main characters. Both have similar characteristics on how the authors use Adela Strangeworth and Emily Grierson to portray this nobility to the readers. These two pieces of writing were published in the mid 1900 s in the Victorian Era. This pairing of these stories bring out the way arrogance is treated by a gap between the older and new generation, main characters holding themselves higher, and Both pieces of fiction display a feud between the older and younger generation, which is a characteristic of southern gothic writing. The settings are held in an extremely primitive victorian era. In A Rose for Emily Miss Emily is seen as a duty (Line 9) to her small town. As a result of this established rule Colonel Sartoris remitted her taxes (Line 13) to help with her father s death. However when the next generation [...] became mayors and alderman (line 22 24) they had more modernistic views than the Colonel, part of the old generation, had previously had. To them this arrangement created some little dissatisfaction (Line 24 25). This rivalry built a riff between the two age groups, and this is also present in A Possibility of Evil . In order to gain a clear understanding of why the average college student drinks, I asked ten drinkers in my house what their main reasons for drinking are. The most prevalent reasons given for drinking were that drinking heightens their feelings of pleasure, allows them to be more social and have more fun, and frees their mind, taking them away from their problems. A few said that they simply enjoy drinking because they like the taste. Considering alcohol s ability as a mind altering substance to relax people and make them feel good, it really is not surprising that many college students drink. However, what also must be considered are the alternatives to drinking. A variety of relaxation techniques exist to help people reduce stress and clear their minds. The ideas in these two articles can be synthesized to examine instead how first person narrative can foster a sense of community when adults write YA literature. • 34. My Interest Towards Family Medicine My interest towards family medicine began during my early childhood years. I grew up in a small and developing city called Salalah, Oman where health care resources were sparse. Back in 1990 s, immigrants from low income and middle class families could not afford health care. My mother, a nurse, and her friend, a primary care physician, were considered the healers of our neighborhood. Families and neighbors, who were sick, wounded, or in need of medical advice, came to them for help. I grew up watching them become the de facto healthcare resources of our neighborhood. This inspired me to venture into the field of medicine. After moving to New York, I was determined to take advantage of the opportunities I had. While volunteering at a nursing home through church, I met several family physicians and internists. I was impressed by their professionalism while interacting with patients. All patients were treated with the same delicate care, despite their array of debilitated statuses. Poor hygiene did not distract the physician, but rather it urged them to provide medical care to the best of their ability. The patients felt this and their immense gratitude was palpable. I realized how imperative it was for any physician to value their character, attitude, and skill. My experiences inspired me to continue volunteering at nursing homes and church events, where I could give a helping hand to those in need. In turn, I developed a compassionate, comforting, and respectful attitude.

  • 36. Contrasting Themes Essay Contrasting Themes? When has one ever seen a film that could compare to the words written in the book? Movies are almost always different, almost always never compare, and almost always have a different premise than that expressed by a novel. The reason, one wonders, is because you have to keep the audience interested. Ambrose Bierce s short story and Robert Enrico s film adaptation entitled, An Occurrence on Owl Creek Bridge, is a great example of differing themes in a piece of work. In the entry, evident themes include: reality verses imagination and deception, war, death and dying, and time. Some are expressed in the film clearly, while others are hidden to the untrained eye. Bierce laid a concrete foundation for the theme of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though both the motion picture and short narrative both fully cover the theme of imagination verses reality, the story allowed its readers to find clues that he was most likely dreaming. Statements and observations such as he could view the individual trees, the leaves and veining of each leaf he saw the very insect upon them... and being able to see the grey eye of his shooter allows the readers to make their own assumptions that this is probably not reality (Bierce). In the film, the ending came as a shock almost, yet in the story, it was not that big of a surprise (An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge). There are no indications that the lead character was dreaming. The theme of reality verses imagination leads to another important theme that can be found as the embodiment of the story. It is evident that Bierce was making many references to war in his entry. The whole story was built upon the idea; from the setting to the cause of Fahrquhar s death and from the shots being fired to the reference to the Confederacy. War was directly linked to the previously mentioned theme, imagination verses reality. The central character wants to be a war hero; which is an apparent desire he had since he could not actually take part in the war effort for reasons not mentioned. Thus his view of war was seen through a rose tinted glass metaphorically speaking.

The novel suggests that the community of Lexington was not in favor of war, rather they just wanted to secure their rights and their belongings from the marching British soldiers who, it was feared, will plunder the town. The community had the courage to bear arms just to safeguard themselves as is suggested by the address of reverend of Lexington to the people. He says, Here we stand with our arms in hand, but with no belligerence in our hearts (Fast, 1961). The rights of the people were not safeguarded by the British and it was in the air that wherever the British went, they just put the people to ignominy by raping their women; they also plundered their wealth and savings. Those who had stopped the British from doing that were mercilessly beaten and some were put to death. These things created fear and terror in the minds of the people. They were ready to fight against the British soldiers but here it worth noting that the people of Lexington were not fighting because of any national fervor or jingoism but they were fighting for their own cause, just to safeguard their property and lives. The role of community in this regard was very crucial and it was a great sight watching all the people gathered at the call of duty. The community is considered a real weapon if it is used properly. Words are used to communicate ideas, but can also be used to distort or conceal the truth and manipulate. Throughout the play characters comment on the properties of language and exploit these for their own advantage. Claudius, the shrewd politician is the most obvious example of a man who manipulates words to enhance his own power, possessing a professional grasp of the language. Claudius adopts entirely different manners of speech, depending on to whom he is speaking. On this occasion he controls in a way he would not, when conversing with others. What Is The Importance Of Opening Up A Business The Bible promise is that if one is diligent to do these things, one will have: goats milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the maintenance for your maidens. Which means there will be money and food for your family and servants. Your business will meet all your material needs. But this provision is conditional, and it hinges on whether you do your part properly. Obviously, from this it is easy to see that running a business is not a matter of opening a shop, putting some things into it, and hoping people come and buy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... SO God tells the wicked to forsake their thoughts as well as their behaviour, because these are both a breach of the moral code, and in the business context, all morally corrupt plans must be abandoned in order to best ensure success. This is also why many countries have a preserved weight or measure somewhere safe from which all other weights and measures are ascertained. This is why the world has an atomic clock, and a Greenwich Meantime, and the word tare on trucks, and energy consumption stickers on washing machines, and so on. Any business that does not charge fair price for accurate measures is courting disaster. When goods are imported, they usually go to an importer s warehouse, from which they are sold to retailers, and then to customers, so there is always a marking up of the price at each step. If possible, it pays for a business to do the importing direct from the country, but this usually involves a large outlay, however, once the goods have arrived, the business can make an even larger fair profit. On the other hand, exporting is part of the manufacturing side of business, and involves many difficulties. One has to buy materials, pay staff, and find overseas customers. But it happens. If you can produce something people want at a fair price, your business will work, and if it were too difficult, which it isn t, hardly anyone would bother to try. The European traders and missionaries would accommodate themselves by integrating into the Non European culture, by adapting their physical appearance, by referring to the traditional practices, and through the response of the native people wants to European goods. John, George, and Ringo, the other band members, add backup vocals to aide McCartney in bringing forth an encouraging tone. The tempo of the music is 3 beats per measure, which is moderately fast. Given that the fast tempo helps give the song an upbeat and encouraging tone, it contributes to the effect of the song. The stanzas of Hey, Jude are relatively similar in length, each having a similar rhyme scheme. The words of the song follow a pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables, which is referred to as rhythm. The rhythm greatly affects how the listener interprets that meaning. Repetition of phrases like, Hey, Jude, and, Then you can start to make it better, are used to emphasize the phrases importance in the song. The repetition allows listeners to remember the line and, because of this, is considered a way McCartney manipulated sound. McCartney used tricks within the music, like rhythm and repetition, to create a poetic feeling. The feeling the music brings forth adds to the overall effect of the song. No one escapes death, but the ways that the following cultures view death, mourning and the after life are very different. This paper will explore the different death and dying cultures of Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. Each of these cultures shares a unique perspective on death that has withstood centuries of living. Jewish The Jewish culture is very traditional and orthodox. In Judaism, death is not a tragedy, even when it occurs early in life or through unfortunate circumstances. Death is a natural process. Our deaths, like our lives, have meaning and are all part of God s plan. Jews have a firm belief in an afterlife, and this will be awarded to those who have lived a worthy life. Mourning practices in Judaism are extensive, but they are not an expression of fear or distaste for death. Jewish practices relating to death and mourning have two purposes: to show respect for the dead, and to comfort the living. After a person dies, the eyes are closed, the body is laid on the floor and covered, and candles are lit next to the body. The body is never left alone until after burial, as a sign of respect. Most communities have an organization to care for the dead, known as the chevra kaddisha (the holy society). These people are volunteers. The presence of a dead body is considered a source of ritual impurity. For this reason, a priest may not be in the presence of a

My Writing That I Did Not Know Before Over the course of this class I have learned many things about writing that I did not know before, because I never had any great instruction before i came to college. In Grade school and high school, when I got back a graded paper there would just be words crossed out, or punctuation corrections. There would never be any explanation as to why I need to correct this, or why this is wrong. I would go over the corrections and wonder how this is wrong and why does a comma go there but why doesn t a comma go here. When reading the corrections and notes you made on each of my papers this year, I more easily understood why something was wrong. I might not have made the same corrections in the next paper, but each paper I got back I understood what was wrong, and what I needed to do to correct it. I think I understood more about writingwith each paper that I wrote this year. I might not have shown it with each paper because I seem to always make the same errors. I always get mixed up when using singular and plural nouns, using the same adjective throughout the paper, and not being descriptive. I knew after you made the corrections why something is wrong, but I never seemed to make the corrections myself, because I have a habit of making those same mistakes, and because it sounds like it is right to me because I speak that way myself. Those errors I made in each of my papers seemed to be right at the time of me writing them, but when you pointed them out to me after giving back

  • 58. Zl1 Research Paper Ford vs. Chevy , we have heard of this battle ever since the beginning of horsepower in Ford and Chevrolet. This is a never ending battle that sparks and rages somewhere in every fan of these great American made vehicles. We all want to prove that our side is the best. Although the 2012 Camaro ZL1 has a powerful engine, it is no match for the monstrous 2013 Shelby GT500. The Shelby thrashes the ZL1 in all areas. According to Ford, the 2013 Shelby GT500 has a more powerful engine than any other American made production car in the history of the industry (Evans). With a supercharged 5.8 liter, V8 engine, the 662 horsepower engine has a top speed of 202 miles per hour (VersusBattle.com). Although the ZL1 has a powerful engine, its top speed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The top speed of the Camaro is impressive at 180 mph but it is consummately thrashed by the Shelby, which will do a staggering 200 mph (Lloyd). There is no hiding the 80 hp deficit in the ZL1 and despite the Shelby s hoggish handling, I initially thought its powerful advantage was too great (Lloyd). The ZL1 has a poor amount of horsepower, compared to the Shelby. With the Shelby having more horsepower and a better top speed, the ZL1 will have to work with everything it has in order to even come close to beating the Shelby. 0 60 MPH Time If one thought that the ZL1 has an impressive 0 60 time of 3.9 seconds, prepare to be amazed by the Shelby with an amazing 0 60 time of 3.5 seconds. It s a testament to the Shelby s power that it makes the Camaro feel slow, and in a side by side race the ZL1 is slow (Austin). Its smoking 0 60 time of 3.9 seconds, according to Chevy, is also just a little bit slower than the Mustang (VersusBattle.com). The Shelby has a slight advantage of 0.4 seconds over the ZL1. While this may not seem like a great amount of time, at the drag strip, 0.4 seconds is a long time and can determine a great win or great loss. Quarter Mile Drag
