The Glass Castle Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Glass Castle" presents a unique set of challenges,
requiring a delicate balance between analysis, interpretation, and personal reflection. First and
foremost, delving into the intricacies of Jeannette Walls' memoir demands a comprehensive
understanding of the author's life experiences and the broader societal context. This entails
thorough research to grasp the autobiographical elements and to explore the socio-economic
challenges faced by the Walls family.
Moreover, the task involves weaving together a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates
textual evidence, critical analysis, and one's own insights. The challenge lies in avoiding a mere
summary of events but rather offering a thoughtful examination of the book's themes, characters,
and the author's message. It requires the writer to navigate through the complex dynamics of
family relationships, poverty, resilience, and the pursuit of one's dreams.
Balancing objectivity and subjectivity is another hurdle. While providing an objective analysis of
the text, the essay should also allow room for personal reflections and interpretations. Striking
this balance can be intricate, as it requires the writer to form a connection with the material
without letting personal biases overshadow the critical evaluation.
Additionally, ensuring that the essay is engaging and well-structured is a constant challenge. The
narrative should flow smoothly, guiding the reader through the key points while maintaining a
cohesive and logical progression. This demands careful planning, revising, and editing to refine
the language and structure.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on "The Glass Castle" involves navigating a complex narrative,
understanding the author's intent, balancing objectivity and subjectivity, and crafting a well-
structured, engaging piece. It's a task that demands dedication, critical thinking, and a deep
appreciation for the nuances of Walls' memoir. For those seeking assistance, similar essays and
more can be explored and ordered on HelpWriting.net.

The Evolution Of Management Theory
Introduction
Detailed Summary
Management theory constantly evolves when there are new ideas or when there is
and intention of attempts of transforming the theory. Hence this theory can also be
called as the condensed theory To know the history of the management theory is the
fundamental task (Sarshar, 2002).
The evolution of management began after the industrial revolution had occurred in
Europe and America, which was in the end of the 19th century. During the evolution
of the management theory, there were many major changes happening, like
economic, cultural and technical. The start of the evolution of the management
theory was when there was an introduction to the steam power. That was the time
when the industries were built with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientific management theory
The techniques of the scientific management theory were defined by Frederick W.
Taylor. F W Taylor was a manufacturing manager, but he eventually became a
consultant. He introduced four principles
Principle 1: Study the way workers perform their tasks, gather all the informal jobs,
knowledge that worker possess, and experiment with ways of improving how tasks
are performed.
Principle 2: Codify the new methods of performing tasks into written rules and
standard operating procedures.
Principle 3: Carefully select workers who possess skills and abilities that match the
needs of the task and train them to perform according to the established rules and
procedures.
Principle 4: Establish a fair or acceptable level of performance for a tasks, and then
develop a pay system that rewards performance about the acceptable level (Jones and
George, 2003).
In the 1900 s these principles were known nationally and were applied in many
organisations. In some organisations the managers choose to follow only some of
the principles, which led to some problems. After applying the principles the
efficiency of the organisation increased, but instead of sharing the profit with the
workers as specified by Taylor, the managers expected the workers to work for more
hours for that same wages. After a while the workers realised that the increase in the
efficiency in the firm
The Problem Of Academic Procrastination
The problem of Academic procrastination
Sultan Alqahtani
Academic procrastination has quite often been a significant purpose behind poor
academic performance particularly among students who are academically competent
which is showed in a study done by Onwuegbuzie and Jiao (2000), where 95% of
students take part in academic procrastination in a school level while around 61%
hesitate at a graduate level. Notwithstanding students realizing that procrastination in
academics leads to poor performance, students infrequently attempt overcome stalling
and rather assert that the weight to perform empowers them to finish the assignments.
Procrastination comprises of the purposeful postponement of a planned game plan,
notwithstanding an attention to negative results (Steel, 2007). In this way academic
procrastination is characterized as an inclination to put off or postpone assignments
identified with one concentrates so they are either not completely finished by their
due dates or must be raced to be done. In short procrastination is putting off tomorrow
what ought to be done today. Procrastination however ought not to be between
replaceable with the word delay as it is not the same as deferrals, as postponements
have sound explanations for putting off something as contradicted with
procrastination.
There are various reasons in respect to why procrastination is common in students, in
spite of knowing the negative impact of doing as such, and they credit this to

In the 2016 election cycle, over 1.4 billion dollars was given to presidential
candidates (Federal Election Commission 2016a). This is more than any other
presidential election cycle in history (Price 2016). Another billion dollars was given
to U.S. House of Representatives candidates, and about 600 million dollars was
given to U.S. Senate candidates (Federal Election Commission 2016b). The majority
of this money went to funding the candidates campaigns. This money controlled
whose ads voter s saw on television and which candidates were able to afford to
travel the country campaigning for votes. In many cases, the candidate with the most
money available won their election. Most campaigns are financed in large part by a

This means they will likely raise money in any way possible to increase their
chances of winning. This leads many members of Congress to give less
consideration to the needs of low income individuals when developing legislation.
Since these low income individuals do not have the means to give large amounts
of money to re election campaigns, their views are often ignored. Many members
of Congress endorse legislation that would benefit their largest donors. This leads
to a Congress that is not a true representative of the broad interests across the
United States (Flavin 2015). The increasing importance of big money in campaigns
has also heightened the polarization within Congress. Candidates have been forced
to develop strong views on the most polarizing topics, such as abortion, LGBT
rights, and gun regulations. If a candidate does not express strong views on these
topics, wealthy Republican or Democratic super PACs are not likely to back them.
This has caused more gridlock in Congress as many members are not willing to
compromise on these important topics (La Raja
Intercultural Communication Is Defined As Situated...
Intercultural communication is defined as situated communication between
individuals or groups of different linguistic and cultural origins (Lanqua, n.p.).
Whenever communication happens between people whose first language is not the
local language or when people communicate who grew up in different cultures they
are committing intercultural communication. This sounds like something that does
not occur very often, but it is quite common and is becoming more common as new
technologies allow people to communicate from all over the world without ever
having to leave the comfort of their house. Intercultural communication also occurs
within a single country between different co cultures. The United States Armed
Forces and the United States would be an example of this. The United States Armed
Forces is in the top ten biggest militaries in the world. With that many people,
intercultural communication happens very frequently within the country. As a side
note, while there are differences within the cultures, this is only looking at the overall
general behavior of the culture.
The military itself has its own culture. Militaries are societies unto themselves, with
their own sociology, history, values and beliefs. Military culture is built on these
principles of shared history and values (Hill, 2015). The core values of the military
can be found in the acronym LDRSHIP, which stands for loyalty, duty, respect,
selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. These are
Powerful Tips on How to Boost your Affiliate Commissions
Top 3 Ways To Boost Your Affiliate Commissions Overnight The ideal world of
affiliate marketing does not require having your own website, dealing with
customers, refunds, product development and maintenance. This is one of the
easiest ways of launching into an online business and earning more profits.
Assuming you are already into an affiliate program, what would be the next thing
you would want to do? Double, or even triple, your commissions, right? How do
you do that? Here are some powerful tips on how to boost your affiliate program
commissions overnight. 1. Know the best program and products to promote.
Obviously, you would want to promote a program that will enable you to achieve
the greatest profits in the shortest possible time. There are several factors to
consider in selecting such a program. Choose the ones that have a generous
commission structure. Have products that fit in with your target audience. And that
has a solid track record of paying their affiliate easily and on time. If you cannot
seem to increase your investments, dump that program and keep looking for better
ones. There are thousands of affiliate programs online which gives you the reason
to be picky. You may want to select the best to avoid losing your advertising dollars.
Write free reports or short ebooks to distribute from your site. There is a great
possibility that you are competing with other affiliates that are promoting the same
program. If you start writing short
Cortisol Research Paper
Cortisol production is stimulated by ACTH secretion from the anterior pituitary via
numerous feedback mechanisms according to the circadian rhythm, with peak levels
in the early morning and smaller fluctuations throughout the day. ACTH secretion is
stimulated by CRH in the hypothalamus which is stimulated by things such as:
decreases in plasma cortisol, hypoglycemia, stress, and infection. Secretion of ACTH
leads to conversion of cholesterol to cortisol in the zona fasciculata of the adrenal
gland via various cytochrome P450 enzymes. Increased levels of cortisol itself cause
negative feedback on the pituitary and hypothalamus. The zona glomerulosa is the site
of production of Aldosterone, the principal mineralocorticoid, via similar mechanisms
(cytochrome p 450.) Aldosterone production is stimulated by activation of the renin
angiotensin system in response to decreased intravascular volume (sensed by
baroreceptors), decreased sodium levels sensed in the macula densa of the nephron,
and by the sympathetic nervous system in response to stress.
Over ninety percent of cortisol in the blood is bound to corticosteroid binding

Chapter 9 Of The Great Gatsby
The setting in the last chapter is unchanged from the start of the novel, which
suggests that Alex s persona has behaved the same way. Even as Alex moves from
place to place, the settings match up. At the beginning of chapter seven of part three,
Alex is once again sitting in the Korova Milkbar with three other friends. At this
point, the story seems to come full circle and creates a sense of DГ©jГ vu since the
setting of the first page was the same place. Burgess begins to incorporate a sense
of change in the last chapter when Alex explains the heighth of fashion, which in
those days was these very wide trousers and a very loose black shiny leather like
jerkin over an open necked shirt with a scarf tucked in (Burgess 201). This contrasts...

Alex and his droogs were sitting in the Korova Milkbar making up [their]

Alex has new friends and he is now the oldest one in the group (##). In the first
chapter, as Alex and his droogs are making their way through the town, they run
into an old man carrying books. They decide to beat the man and rob him and Alex
takes part in the beating (9). In the last chapter a similar event occurs in which the
group meets a man on the street. But this time Alex does not take part in the beating
stating, more and more these days I had just been giving the orders and standing
back to viddy them being carried out (202). This statement suggest that Alex has
undergone some sort of change, however shallow it may be, because previously Alex
would not have been able to resist getting in on the action. In both chapters, the
friends move on to the Duke of New York bar and purchase drinks for the same
three ladies. In contrast to the first chapter, older Alex hesitates to give away his
money to them because these last days...there had come into his gulliver a like desire
to keep all [his] pretty polly to [himself], indicating that he has become more
economical (203). As stated before, following this event the chapters take turns in
opposite directions. At the beginning of the book, Alex and his droogs
Gas Utilization Of Oil And Gas Technologies
Although the difficulty in storing processing, transporting and distributing gas makes
it difficult to utilise (Cost of transporting per unit energy is about 10 times higher
than that of oil) (Thomas et al, 2000), the evolution in oil and gas technologies has
presented many new ways for the commercialisation of APG, Technological options
for the monetisation of APG categorised into the methods available for getting gas
from production sites to consumers where it can consumed. In this chapter the
various methods would be briefly described, highlighting obtainable products and
benefits, challenges and limitations and viability conditions. These methods are
summarised as shown in figure 10. Figure 10: Paths to gas monetisation 4.1.1
Pipelines This is the oldest and simplest form of gas utilization. It involves
transporting treated gas from producers directly to its consumers (Speight, 2007;

for domestic, commercial and industrial use or for further processing. Utilized mainly
for power and heat generation. Once in place, this system aids the utilization of
massive amounts of APG a well planned out pipeline network could supply numerous
consumers from numerous producers 4.1.1.2 Challenges and Limitations The
Pipeline system is inflexible. Once built, routes cannot be changed and additional
connections are complex and uneconomical. Once piping diameters are decided,

1.2 Objectives and Aims
The main objective is to recover energy from track s Vibrations for Safety and
Monitoring using Aurdino controller which will Improve Rail Road Accidents. The
proposed harvester is designed to power major areas where there is no proper
maintance of electricity. The different equipments usually need a power supply of 10
100 Watts, for example generating warning signals, switches and health monitoring
systems.
1.3 Literature Review
The first step taken in this project was to do research on a variety of subjects to
gather the information required to be capable of designing the harvester. The main
area of study was to gather information about harvesters and further just in detail

As shown in figure, there are frictional losses due to the meshing of gears and
misalignment of the shaft when load is exerted on the track.
The proposed mechanical motion rectifier harvester system consists of two major
parts. The first part is input assembly, which acts to convert bi directional linear
motion into single directional rotational motion. The input assembly consists of two
rack and pinions, and two roller clutches. The roller clutches are fitted into the two
pinions, either of them engage input shaft at a single direction.
The second part consists of the gearhead, power generator, and flywheel. These
components are use to convert the motion into useful energy. Figure 2.1: Flow Chart
The harvester will be mounted to and spans two rail ties. As it is shown in Figure,
the harvester consists of : two rack and two pinion gear which convert the linear
motion to rotatry motion. Figure 2.2: Modified Prototype
A bearing clutch will be used to rectify the up and down motion of the rail track and a
gearbox will be used to amplify the rotatry motion and a permanent magnet DC
generator will be used to convert that rotation into usefull energy(electricity). When
the train travels over the track, the rail tie system displaces vertically. The rack gear
is fixed in the subgrade, the harvester travels up and down relative to the rack gear,
and the pinion gear moves relative to the rack gear. Thus a small amount of linear
motion is converted to
What Are The Long Term Causes Of The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a time in the U.S where the economy had dropped and
the majority of the population struggled with poverty. One of the long term causes
of the Great Depression was that there was no program to help aid the people
because President Hoover believed in rugged individualism, another long term
reason of the depression was that the people had placed money on the banks and
the banks would share it for the stock market and usually didn t give it back.
Hoover was elected in 1928, he believed in rugged individualism, natural cycles, and
voluntary action which prolonged the depression because there was nothing to back
up the people. FDR was elected in 1932 and the New Dealprograms were a set of
reforms that Roosevelt had set up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, FDR had prior knowledge that major communities in the nation had a
huge a distrust of the government, the president wanted to achieve that reliance
again so that there would be a growing economy once more in the U.S. The belief
that FDR had of doing everything you can to make things better illustrates to us
and the people of the time that he wanted to gain that trust and faith that everyone
had lost because of the prior leader and the depression. Furthermore, President
Roosevelt had made a speech covering everything that he was willing to do for his
country and the faith of the people. This shows that he wanted to approach
everything to make the past a learnable experience and to move on from the tragic
downfall the U.S had. Thirdly, He wasn t afraid to loose a lot from the the New
Deal programs because he wanted to support the country in need. The President had
established an act called the social security act and it was a step forward to the the
acts that he had assigned before and after. This shows that everything FDR had done
was successful because it gave people that faith again to move forward and create a

Leopard geckos like moving prey that are able to be caught. Crickets, mealworms,
flies and other insects are optional. For large adults, baby pinky mice can be fed to
them. Calcium and D3 should be supplemented to properly provide their nutritional
needs. Husbandry Leopard geckos need a tank with about 15 20 gallons to
themselves. There should only be one gecko in a tank at a time. They are nocturnal
animals so a hiding space is great for them. Half logs or fake caves are options for
climbing, hiding and sleeping. A damp plastic container with a hole in the lid filled
with damp soil or moss provides a good place for geckos to shed. The bottom of the
cage can have paper, slate rocks with calcium sand, carpet or even paper towels.
The Effect Of Technique And Positional Release Therapy
On...
My Research topic is a comparative study to evaluate the effectiveness of Bowen
Technique and Positional Release Therapy on Trapezitis.
Trapezitis is the inflammation of the trapezius muscle which gets aggravated by
activity and even at rest. It is a very common condition seen in practically most of the
individuals. Trapezitis has serious implications like neck pain, reduction in the range
of motion, stiffness etc. It s very commonly seen in students, people working for long
time on computers, Excessive driving etc.
The positional release technique is one of the technique used in Physical Therapy
which has been proven to help Trapezitis. Bowen Technique is a soft tissue
manipulation Technique which is also found to be beneficial in pain reduction. There
hasn t been a comparative study done on both the techniques.Hence I would like to
do a comparative study to see which is more effective in Trapezitis. There is paucity
in literature with regards to effectiveness of Bowens technique on Trapezitis.
The less number of research articles on this topic facilitated me to conduct a study
on this topic. This research study will help me clinically in applying the results of
this study to my patients in the clinic. The incidence of neck pain is 3 5% population
worldwide. Hence it is very important that I know which technique works the best so
my patients will be benefited from it.

American Frontier Hero Research Paper
The American frontier hero is very present in our culture, and those heroes have come
from different traditions of males in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The start
of the American frontier hero goes back into the early decades of American
colonization. There have been investigations of the heroic stereotype that suggests
that American frontierheroes played a very important role in the shaping of
American literature and culture than had previously been known by Denise
MacNeil and Mary Rowlandson. Following up after reading The Account of Mary
Rowlandson and Other Indian Captivity Narratives, it was an eye opener for myself.
Furthermore, it was an eye opener, because many of us take life for granted and do

According to Mary Rowlandson and the Foundational Mythology, it makes it evident
that MacNeil and Rowlandson believe the American frontier is present. Also, they
believe that without the American frontier some of our history would not be known
or may not have happened. I also agree with them, I believe that the American frontier
hero is present in our culture today. For instance, it states Rowlandson here recounts
learning another Native American wilderness technique, using a beaver dam as a
bridge (Rowlandson 333). This is relevant of proving how the American frontier
heroes are still current, because without these heroes today, student and people
would not be able to learn about the Native American history or the way of life. Like
stated, Rowlandson learned how the Native Americans used a beaver dam as a
bridge, without these heroes showing and telling others about this information,
humans today would leave beaver dams alone since it is an animals home. Another
reason the American frontier hero is important is to learn the crucial element of
wilderness survival is the ability Rowlandson developed to successfully reconcile
Native American and Puritan ways (Rowlandson 333). This is vital information,
because without the American frontier hero s students or people would not be fully
aware or informed on how to

Dr. Martin Luther King s Speech
In Dr. Martin Luther King s speech, Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence ,
King asserts that the war in Vietnam is a symptom (7) of a much larger disease that
affects the American spirit (7). The disease King mentions is causing destruction
where ever it is found, and in the case of the Vietnam war, it has led to their
oppression and the death of people. In the section, Strange Liberators, King states,
They move sadly and apathetically as we heard them off the land of their fathers
into concentration camps where minimal social needs are rarely met. They know
they must move or be destroyed by our bombs (8). King believed that the disease was
leading the United Statesto take drastic actions against the Vietnamese people. The

Further on into the section, King proclaims, They wander into the hospitals, with at
least twenty casualties from American firepower for one Vietcong inflicted injury (8).
What this shows is that through the United States search for dominance, it has
resulted in taking a violent action. The U.S. government believed that if they were
not in control of Vietnam, the spread of communism and their downfall in dominance
would still be an issue. Since the Vietnamese people were in search for their
independence, they wouldn t accept being under the control of another nation,
therefore, for the United States, they saw violence as their only solution. During
such draconian times, many thought that there might not be a solution to end the
violence and misery, except for King. In his speech, King explains that there is a
solution for the current dilemma, or in this case, a cure to this horrible disease. In
the section, This Madness Must Cease, King affirms that, he has the possible
solution and provides a list of how it can be possible to solve this issue:
I would like to suggest five concrete things that our government should do
immediately to begin the long and difficult process of extricating ourselves from this
nightmarish conflict:
1.End all bombing in North and South Vietnam.
2.Declare a unilateral cease fire in the hope that such action will create the
atmosphere for negotiation.

things you should do and the things you should avoid.

Rhetorical Analysis Of A Commercial
In Mrs. Smith s English class we are making commercials that have to do with
ethos, pathos, and logos and we have to make a commercial. We had to find a
person that we can make seem like everyone else but at the same time be the
person they are themselves. For my commercial I did a video of a guy named Bill
Pidgeon and how he was running for president. I had to make things up so
everyone would like him and not just one group of people. Doing this project was
actually more fun than I thought, but what can really get you is if you work with a
partner. You better make sure that both of you do a lot of work on it and don t just
goof off, like Mrs Smith says before you start. In this unit it s all about how

the computer could help you with it if you want to edit the commercial. Other than

Les Liaisons Dangereuses Research Paper
Women in 18th century literature often found themselves in a lose lose situation.
Men wanted seductive women that would cater to their every wish, but they also
wanted virginal women to be their little housewives. In 18th century literature,
women often fell into the men s traps and succumbed to seduction. After they fell
though, they would have to be punished in order to prevent women of the time period
reading these stories from thinking they had too much power. One of the most
powerful weapons a womanhad over a man was her sexuality. One can see an
example of two of these women in Les Liaisons Dangereuses. CГ©cile and Madame

unhappiness (Les Liaisons Dangereuses 273). Tourvel did not give in to Valmont
due to pleasure; she felt she was sacrificing her happiness for his. When Valmont is
convinced by Merteuil to end their affair, Tourvel ran away to a convent (Les
Liaisons Dangereuses 317). She not only lost her chastity with Valmont, but she
also lost her faith. Tourvel had committed wholeheartedly to loving and saving
Valmont, and he basically threw her to the side. The letter that Valmont sent her

Essay about Applying the Sociological Imagination to...
There is much debate on what constitutes as a family today. However, Ball (2002)
states, The concept of the traditional family...is not an immutable one. It is a social
construct that varies from culture to culture and, over time, the definition changes
within a culture (pp. 68). There is a growing diversity of families today including
the commonality of sole parenting. In order to explore aspects of sole parenthood
objectively, I need to reflect and put aside my personal experience of growing up in
sole parent household. Furthermore, this essay will explore the historical origins,
cultural aspects discussing the influences and implications of gender identity, and
social structures of sole parent families, as well as consider the... Show more content

him.
Historically, one of the most economically vulnerable groups in New Zealand and
other Western countries are sole parent families (Family Commissions, 2010).
When examining historical influences in New Zealand on sole parenting, one must
consider the influential changes the Second World War era had on families and
family structures. Sole parenthood was not particularly common during the this
period, as most women married young and went on to have children while the men
worked to provide for their families or went off to war. (Families Commission,
2008, June). Unmarried women who fell pregnant were scrutinized as being unfit
mothers and shamed for getting pregnant outside of marriage. These women were
heavily encouraged to give their babies up for adoption to allow their children to live
a normal life and were seen as selfish if they chose to keep the baby (Else, A., 2012).
It wasn t until the 1960s and 1970s that more unmarried pregnant woman opted to
keep their babies instead of putting them up for adoption (Else, A., 2012). Due to the
financial pressures of sole parenting the Domestic Proceedings Act was introduced in
1968, which required fathers to pay mothers some maintenance for
Christian Meta-Narrative In The Book Of Revelation
It is said that the basic Christian meta narrative of history is present throughout the
Book of Revelation. But, what does this mean? First one must understand simply
what a meta narrative is. A meta narrative is a narrative or story which claims to
explain something totally. The Christian meta narrative provides a theological
worldview centered on Jesusvictory at the cross and derives its understanding of the
world through the teachings of the Bible. The Book of Revelationprovides for its
readers images to coincide with the Christian meta narrative. These images can later
be used to relate the themes of Revelation to how they are held true in the past,
present, and future of the world.

Revelation 20:1 15 tells how the angel of God came down and chained up the
Dragon (Satan), and then all of the souls who had died for Jesus and the word of
God came to life and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The thousand
years referenced in this bible verse was symbolic of Christ s resurrection victory
over death and how the people of God were going to share in His glorious reign.
Examples of these events can be pulled from the world, Church, and even events of
history and the Bible. This image is a particularly true representation of a time of
unrest in a country. Many wars are started and fought long and hard, but long
before the wars officially ends there can be seen an evident and certain victor. This
is especially evident when looking back upon wars fought in history. Though it did
not seem so at the time, the victor was clearly when looking back upon them from
the future. The theme of the image is interpreted to mean that Jesus Christ, the
Lamb of God, has already died and saved us from our sins; however, Satan is still
present in the world seeking the ruins of souls. The work of Satan can easily be
contradicted thanks to the victory of Jesus Christ, opening up the gates of heaven for
us and offering us redemption from our

alienation in Refugee Blues and The Last Night
Both Sebastian Faulks and W. H. Auden write about the tales of Jewish refugees
living in the time of holocaust during WW2 in their two pieces, The Last Night and
Refugee Blues . By using literary techniques such as imagery and tone both writers,
Auden and Gray create a sense of alienation for the characters portrayed in their
writing. Both Auden and Gray create a sincere illusion of reality to promote the
refugee s alienation and suffering in both stories ultimately bringing the two gripping
tales to life.

Say this city has ten million souls, some are living in mansions, some are living in
holes . The rhythm created throughout provokes a melancholy atmosphere to be
interpreted by the reader enticing compassion towards the refugees and further
discriminating and separating the Jewish characters and their race from the rest of
the world. Unlike Gray, Faulks writes the The Last Night in the form of a historical
fiction indicating the lack of a particular rhythm in which the story can be read. These
contrasting rhythms though seem to create to same feeling of sadness and empathy
towards the characters. Faulk s choice of diction and literary techniques match with
the rhythm and tone of Refugee Blues and create a huge similarity between the way
the two poems are written to create alienation towards the refugees.
Auden and Faulks use foreshadowing both subtly and palpably early on in each text
to show what will happen in the near future of the two stories. Faulks in particular
manipulates this technique to show upcoming events. In the opening statement Andre
and his brother Jacob... to a concentration camp presented in bold for added effect,
Faulks immediately introduces the reader to the ignorance and innocence of the
children not being able to fully understand their predicament because they are both at
such a young age. They do not realise the harsh reality that has befallen them and the

Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell
The nature of reality within the realm of idealism is considered to be a notion where
human existence is present and demonstrates the extent of autonomy individuals
possess. However, the freedom exerted by the people of the nation can impact the
government s control and strength over its citizens and states. George Orwell
explores in his political novel, Nineteen Eighty Four. Winston, the male protagonist,
challenges the totalitarian state s ideals and goals, to purse his own liberty. The
Party s control over the state manipulates the minds of all citizens to achieve their
goals and ideals. When Winston pursues his own freedom and his own private

King Arthur Love Triangles
Whether by explaining the origins of civilizations and nations or by creating
explanations to the many mysteries of existence, myths play a huge role on tales and
validate cultural and social history. In particular, English myth aims at validating the
history of England as well as creating a set of rules for society. In the Arthurian
legend, King Arthurand his knights of the Round Table, learn a series of morals. The
lesson about love triangles is seen in the cases of Uther, Igraine and Gorlois, Arthur,
Guinevere and Lancelot and Mark, Tristan and Isolde. Indeed, English warns against
the tragedies of love triangles.
In the Arthurian legend, one example of a love triangle that leads to tragedy is the
one among Uther, Igraine and Gorlois. According to the legend, King Uther of

Examples Of Archetypes In The Birthmark
In The Birthmark the relationships and behaviors of the character reveal much more
than the story itself does. The characters of Aylmer, Georgian, Amenidab and Nature
itself, through their words, actions, and behaviors give insight into a much more
meaningful story. A deeper analysis of the characters reveals that they are archetypes,
and as archetypes they provide a deeper hidden meaning to the story. By looking at
Aylmer, Georgiana, Amenidab and Natures relationships and actions throughout the
story we can see how they are used to give deeper significance. The character of
Aylmer can be seen as a sinister, mad scientist who constantly fights with naturein
order to attain human perfection. From the beginning of the story Aylmer s... Show

Once again this shows Aylmer is not concerned about his wife but rather his victory
of nature itself. Aylmer s true motives can be seen at the end of the story after he has
given Georgiana the liquid that supposedly will take the mark away. Matter and spirit
earth and heaven have both done their part in this! Laugh, thing of the senses! You
have earned the right to laugh (Hawthorne 231). This shows Aylmer s moment of
ecstasy as he seems to have defied nature and begins to laugh in the face of nature
itself. This undirected, almost insane laughter shows Aylmer s true motive of defying
nature and creating perfection through science. The archetype of Georgiana can be
seen as the perfect women, however, her birthmark acts as a symbol of imperfection
and mortality that keeps her from fully pleasing her husband. Georgiana is described
as beautiful and perfect except for one flaw, the birthmark. It was the fatal flaw of
humanity which Nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffaceably on all her
productions, either to imply that they are temporary and finite, or that their perfection
must be wrought by toil and pain (Hawthorne 220). The hand shaped birthmark can
be seen as her being touched by nature and acts as a symbol of imperfection and
mortality in humans. The symbol of the birth mark standing for mortality can be seen
again towards the end
Blowin In The Wind Compare And Contrast
While being drastically different in content and musical aspects, Peter Paul and Mary
s Blowin in the Wind and Bob Dylan s Positively 4th Street hold surprising
similarities. Of course some stem from the fact that both songs were written by Dylan
himself, but others come simply as a result of production, composition, and overall
performance. Instrumentally, the songs differ greatly. Blowin in the Wind has a
simple acoustic instrumental that acts as the sole instrument in the song. In fact, the
tune played by the guitaris consistent throughout the song, and does not change other
than some slight loudenings and softenings for effect. As a result of this, the voices
of the singers guide the song. Contrastingly Positively 4th Street has a complex
instrumental played by a whole band. Specifically, it consists of a guitar so heavy
that it may as well be opposite to the guitar in Blowin in the Wind among a flurry of
other instruments including electric organ, piano, and a steady drum beat.
Additionally, each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The adoption of a band rather than performing alone or with a sole instrument as
Peter Paul and Mary did was highly symbolic of a new chapter in Dylan s career. His
introduction of electronic instruments was a break from his folk roots that many
found controversial, but that made his music more appealing to the general public.
Contrastingly, the acoustic stylings of Blowin in the Wind were less exciting, yet
still effective in gaining popularity. In truth, based on the lyrical content of Blowin in
the Wind, it is hard to imagine such a song being played with the pep and excitement

similarities allowing both of these images to have a powerful impact on the viewer.
Even though these photos were taken many years apart and across the world, they

did what they did. Many people question how the two men in the photographs decided

Stereotypes and Misconceptions of Paganism Essay
Stereotypes and misconceptions are mainly false assumptions and beliefs about
different cultures and groups. The reason as to why stereotypes and misconceptions
exist is because many individuals Stereotypes are basically oversimplified images or
ideas used to describe the gender, nationality or even nature of a certain type of
person. While some stereotypes are humourous, they can also provide a negative
impact upon their targets. Misconceptions, on the other hand, are false and rude

Pagans are typically vilified for their beliefs, as though they are less important than
those of modern day religious beliefs. The lack of understanding of Pagan beliefs
has led to many misconceptions. The most commonly held misconception of
Pagans is that those within the Pagan sect worship the devil. First off, the devil is a
figure in the Christian religion and since Pagans are not Christians, the devil holds
no place in Pagnism. The common reason as to why Pagans are mistaken for
worshiping the devil is due to the fact that, as far as most Christians are concerned, if
one is not worshiping their god, they are worshiping satan . Personally, I believe
that this misconception is out of ignorance, yet ignorance has nothing to do with it.
The misconception that Pagans worship satan is a matter of the Christian doctrine.
The strong Christians believe that any religion that conflicts with the Bible, and is
not focused on the one true God , is a deception and worship of Satan. One cannot
educate this false accusation out of the Christian sect because it is a basic tenet of
their belief system. If the person does not hold any real Christian beliefs then
perhaps they can be educated. The refusal to judge other ways of life as wrong
simply because they are different from one s own is simply proposterous.

The Pros And Cons Of Animals In Zoos
According to CNN, animal advocacy group Born Free reports that there have been
256 injuries in zoos due to animal attacks over the past 26 years, resulting in 33
deaths. Every single year there are many animals killed or injured in zoo s. There
are numerous zoo s placed all over the United States. The zoos keep the animals
trapped in a fenced in enclosure with little to no water source or spacious area.
Numerous people disagree with the fact various breeds are mixed in the same
enclosure. People believe that animals should be allowed to enjoy their own natural
habitat and live with their families, and not trapped within enclosures.
In the wild, elephants often walk up to 30 miles a day. Bears are very active
animals, they roam around hundreds of miles exploring, and are normally active
for 18 or more hours a day. Tigers and lions will roam for many miles just to hunt
down their pray, and love to run and climb on things. But when these animals are
imprisoned in cages and small enclosures at the zoo, they aren t capable of living up
to their natural instincts. Living without these important things often causes
zoochosis is a condition in which animals act strangely and even hurt themselves out
of boredom and frustration . Some don t realize all the cons of animals being kept in
a zoo.
Since visitors love seeing baby animals at zoos, several zoos breed animals to make
more babies, and, as a result, create more profit. When these babies grow up,
though, they aren t as popular. Zoos often trade, loan, or sell adult animals who
aren t making them as much money as when they were younger. Can you even
imagine someone getting rid of you just because you weren t a baby anymore?
These sad, unwanted animals may end up in roadside zoos or traveling circuses.
Others are simply bought to be killed. For example, when baby animals who were
displayed in the Minnesota Zoo s farm exhibit grew up and didn t attract as many
visitors, the zoo took them to livestock auctions, where many ended up being sent to
slaughter. When people go to zoos they have no idea of these things.
Possibly the biggest lie that zoos tell people is that by visiting them, people will
learn about wild animals. If zoos are teaching
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy ( Rebt ) Foundation
Introduction
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) foundation says that the way people
make assumptions about themselves and the world around them influences their
emotions and behavior. (McLeod, 2008) Sometimes these assumptions may impact
people negatively because they are not rational ways to view aspects of life. The
purpose of this paper is to give an overview of what REBT is, its obstacles, how to
deal with those obstacles, and the effectiveness of this therapy.
History
REBT was developed by Albert Ellis in 1955. (Wilson, 2014) Ellis did not agree with
conventional ways of psychoanalysis because, to him, they were superficial and
unscientific. (Wilson, 2014) Ellis then combined a therapy that had humanistic,

(Wilson, 2014) The second rational belief is called the anti awfulizing belief that

2014)The third rational belief would be the high frustration tolerance belief that
says, It s difficult to face being disapproved of at school, but I can tolerate it. (Wilson,
2014) Lastly, the fourth rational belief is the acceptance belief. For example: I can
accept myself if I am disapproved by my peers at school. These were all examples of
Ellis rational beliefs. (Wilson, 2014)
The first irrational belief is called the rigid demands and an example of it would be I
must be liked at school , and the second is awfulizing beliefs like If I m disapproved
at school, it s the end of the world. (Wilson, 2014)The third irrational belief is the
low frustration beliefs and an example of it would be I can t tolerate not being liked
by people at school. (Wilson, 2014) Lastly the fourth irrational belief is depreciation
beliefs an example would be, People that do not approve of me are terrible people .
(Wilson, 2014)These were examples of Ellis irrational beliefs.
The second principal preposition is that cultural and family tendencies and patterns

Rent parties allowed for the residents of Harlem and other poor ghettos to pay their
rent on time and avoid eviction. The rent party also represented the way that
African Americans overcame the oppressive surroundings of the ghetto. For
example, in Rent Party Jazz , written by William Miller, a jazz musician gives a
rent party in order to raise money for a certain family in need. In this way, rent
parties not only assisted people in paying the rent, but it also helped the growth and
development of jazz as a music genre. Through jazz music and the celebratory nature
of the parties, a community was built. [3] [4] The Harlem Renaissance arguably lasted
about 15 years and is said to have ended with the onset of the Great Depression. The
European American infatuation with the Negro declined in the 1930s, in large part
due to the collapse of the stock market. Also, the depression exposed the economic
vulnerability of Harlem, given that much of the real estate in Harlem was owned by
European Americans; and when the depression hit, African Americans lost their jobs
at faster rates than European Americans, caused foreclosures on mortgages, evictions
from rental properties, and a depression and alienation from the American Dream that
was expressed violently in the first modem race riot,
What Are Cognitive Theories
Cognitive Theories
Cognitive theories in psychology describe the thought process of human behavior,
with the belief that it is these such processes that affect the way that humans behave.
In short, cognitive theory describes the basis of thought being an internal mental
event that can cause external behavior to occur. There are many cognitive theories
throughout the domains, however, the various theories within the decision making
and attention domains are among the most influential.

Before the procedures I gathered the supplies needed A surgery pack, suture material,
gloves and a gown for the doctor, and I set up the surgery table by turning it on and
covering it with a clean towel. I then made sure that the oxygen level was on full and
that the isoflurane in the anesthesia machine was full. I made sure that the correct
size breathing tubes and bag were also on the machine, surgery fluids were hung and
ready to be connected to the patient, and the monitoring machine we have was ready
to go. Recap from Skill #1 and #2: Preparation Done in the prep room ... Show more

As soon as the patient is positioned on the table, a thorough skin prep is completed.
With new, clean scrub, we clean the skin with chlorhexidine scrub from the prep
tray, then rinse scrub with alcohol squares. This is repeated a total of 3 times, since
the all gross debris has been removed from our first scrub. I begin each scrub in the
center of the scrubbed area, over the planned incision site, and scrub in a bulls eye
pattern toward the periphery, never going back to the center with the same gauze
sponge. The skin preparation should be thorough but gentle to avoid unnecessary
skin trauma. The final application of chlorhexidine solution is allowed to remain
on the skin. It is important that the skin preparation is started as soon as the animal
is on the surgery table to allow for maximum scrub and contact time between
antimicrobial and the skin. After skin prep is complete, finish securing legs and
make final adjustments in lighting. Limbs are tied to help stabilize the patient. Soft
ropes are double looped over each leg. One loop above the carpus and one below
on the front legs, and one loop above and below the tarsus on the hind legs are
sufficient to hold the animal s legs. The legs are tied to the surgical table without
slack in the rope using a quick release knot if possible. (This is also known as the
halter tie knot used in livestock and can be quickly released in case the patient needs
to be repositioned in an emergency) In large, deep chested
Chile Demographic Analysis
Overall, living conditions in Chile have improved tremendously over recent years.
However, it is still working to improve the living standards of its people. According
to the OECD Better Life Index, Chile performs well in only a few measures of well
being and ranks low in a large number of topics relative to other countries in the
Better Life Index. (OECD, 2014) However, one of the largest concerns in this area is
the large disparity between the wealthy and very poor.

Spurs, boots, hats and riding pants with tailored shirts are more commonly worn.
(The Lovely Planet, 2014)
Types of clothing worn at work
Chileans in the city typically wear very similar clothing to those found in any other
large metropolitan area. Depending upon their line of work, clothing would vary
from suits and ties in the corporate arena, to riding pants and knee high boots for
ranch hands.
Recreation, sports and other leisure activities
Chileans love for sports is centuries old and can be traced to a traditional game
called, palin by the Mapuche. It is similar to hockey and is still played in Chile as
well as supported by the Chilean government. Chile was the only Latin American
nation at the first Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896 (Sports in Chile, 2011) and
has a tradition of participating and sponsoring rodeos, which happen to be extremely
popular.
The Chileans love soccer or football which was begun in Chile by English
immigrants in 1909. (Sports in Chile, 2011) La Roja or the reds is the name for the
Chilean national football team who are followed with such attention that they attract
larger crowds than Brazil and Argentina to their qualifying
Holden Caulfield Flaws
Imagine going under treatment in a mental hospital or any medical center and
telling a story of when you were sixteen years old. Well in the novel, Catcher In
The Rye, the protagonist Holden Caulfield tells a story of when he was sixteen years
old from a mental hospital. J.D Salinger gives his outlook of the world through the
main character of the book; Holden Caulfield. The book was first released to be a
book for adults, but over the years has become common throughout young adults
and teens. The main character and narrator is Holden Caulfield. Holden is a
sixteen year old who is expelled from his four schools, due to failure in each of his
classes. He frequently refers to people he does not like as phonies. Although Holden
Caulfield is very negative throughout the book, he is also very hypocritical towards
many things. Holden is very hypocritical towards many things because he calls
almost everyone in the book a phony, and he whines and complains about people and
their flaws. Even though he tries to hide the fact that he can also be a phony or any
other person that he complains about.

Throughout the book, he constantly talks about how he despises movies. If there
is one thing I hate, it s the movies (Salinger 2). But for some some reason Holden
chooses to attend the movies. The following quote proves that Holden goes to the
movies, We d take the bus into Angerstown and have a hamburger and maybe see a
lousy movie (Salinger 35 36). From this quote we can get an idea that Holden is
lying about hating movies. When it comes to Holden and movies, it is a
contradiction where it lets the author choose whether he likes movies or despises
them. Although Holden seems like a hypocrite and a phony, we do understand that
Holden is going through the journey of finding himself. While in this journey, there
are some people that he looks up to and finds a connection
Intersectionality In First And Second Wave Feminism
First and second wave feminism received heavy criticism from women of color and
otherwise marginalized people for their exclusionary attitudes and practices.
However, these marginalized women banded together to work towards the
recognition of intersectionality. Understanding intersectionality, or the overlapping
identities and oppressions that people experience, is central to understanding
different experiences with oppression. Intersectional representation must be included
in any discussion of socioeconomic status, identity, or community to develop a
complete understanding of the complex issues at hand. One such issue in which
second wave feminismclearly denied intersectionality was the discussion of
socioeconomic class. For example, despite the majority of women belonging to the
working class, Virginia Woolf s seminal work promoted financial... Show more

The reason that women of color and working class women were less represented in
the feminist movement was not that they did not care, but rather that they did not
have the time, money, and education afforded to middle and upper class white
women by their privilege. For example, Moraga Anzaldua posit that not many
projects like A Bridge Called My Back were even attempted because the women of
color who most needed them had no money to fall back on (xxv). The Combahee
River Collective continues this sentiment by arguing that women of color (especially
those who are queer) have no privilege to fall back on, and therefore little to no
means to fight their own oppression (214). Women who did not have the privilege to
participate in the feminist movement were ostracized by mainstream feminists
despite their often shared struggles. By not actively working to include working class
women and those of lower socioeconomic status, the mainstream feminist movement
limits its own perspective and

The Negative Effects Of Television On Television And...
According to the A.C. Nielsen Co. (2009), children spend an average of 28 hours a
week hooked up to the TV. That number adds up to 1,456 hours of television a year,
which means that children spend an average of 2 months out of the year watching
nonstop TV! Though these figures are shocking, even more shocking is the scientific
evidence that confirms the detrimental effect watching the televisionis having on
today s children. Watching television for long periods of time has been directly
linked to childhood obesity. A study done by the National Center for Education
Statistics shows that children in kindergarten and first grade who watched more
than one hour of television per day, children viewing as little as one hour of TV
daily were 58 percent to 73 percent more likely to be obese than children who
watched less than one hour. (DeBoer, 2015) This is due in part to children s
tendency to eat on unhealthy, high calorie foods while they watch TV. An article by
HealthDay News found that children in homes where parents watch regular TV with
commercials had higher levels of junk food consumption and were more likely to
have distorted views about healthy eating than children in homes where parents
watched commercial free digitally recorded TV or other types of media without food
advertising. (Preidt, 2013) Also contributing to this is the fact that children do not
exercise while they watch TV, and watching television often takes the place of outside
activities. Another
Example Of Superhero In Beowulf
Imagine a superhero, believed to be the bravest and greatest role model. Everyone
looks up to that superhero and wants to be like him. Some would say that the
superhero is the model person for how society should act. But then, one day people
found out the superhero was a fraud; he was not actually a good role model and was
all for show. In the poem, Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, Beowulf is a
character who is the same fraud as the metaphorical superhero. It is seen through
his brash decisions that he values glory and personal achievement, and lets his ego
dictate the decisions he makes, and how he lives his life. While Beowulf seems
like the model Anglo Saxon, he is in fact driven by his ego and pursuit of glory.
Because of this he breaks comitatus and is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo
Saxon. Beowulf is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon because he goes
against comitatus and ignores his king. When Beowulf returns to Geatland,
Hygelac tells him that his decision to leave troubled him, Your undertaking / cast
my spirt down, I dreaded the outcome / of your expedition and I pleaded with you
/ long and hard to leave the killer be (1992 1995). Hygelac explains that he didn t
want Beowulf to go and fight Grendel in the first place. It can be inferred that
Beowulf went anyway because he wanted the reward and wanted recognition. If
Beowulf was the model warrior he would have obeyed Hygelac. The Anglo Saxons
put a very heavy value on comitatus and loyalty, so for Beowulf to disregard it,
shows that he is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon. When Beowulf finds out
about Grendel it says, He announced his plan: / to sail the swan s road and search
out that king, / the famous prince who needed defenders. (199 201). Beowulf hears
about Grendel and immediately decides that he will go and help. Comitatus makes
a warrior loyal to his king, not the prince of a different nation. By going over,
Beowulf shows that he cares more about a foreign leader than his own king.
Famous , is used to describe the prince. It can be inferred that Beowulf learned he
was famous and only went because he was hoping for a reward. Beowulf breaks
comitatus and has his loyalties crossed and broken, in the pursuit of glory

The Importance Of Human Behavior
Human behavior plays a role in one s everyday life. Humans form an opinion about
one another based upon behavior. When having a conversation with a person, it could
be considered rude or thought to be hiding something if eye contact is not made.
Behavior is not always the same throughout life, it can vary. Early childhood
experiences, future expectations, and beliefs have the greatest impact on human
behaviors. Early childhood experiences play a role in the various factors in one s life.
A large scale example of how early childhood experiences affect human behavior
greatly is the wild child , Genie. Genie was not given any love or affection as a
toddler, was strapped in a chair, and was forced into silence by her father. Genie
could not walk properly, was incontinent, and could only speak a few words. Genie
did not experience emotional support and typical childhood activities nearly all
children in the United States experience. Perhaps if Genie would have received
love and support and was able to play like a normal child when she was a toddler,
she could have thrived. A personal example would be my passion for being
outdoors. When I was younger, my parents would always tell my step brother, step
sister and I to go play outside. We were always outside jumping on the trampoline,
riding bikes, or just running around playing made up games in the yard. Now, I
enjoy being outdoors doing things like taking my dog for a walk, riding a bike, or
just sitting down and enjoying the

The Glass Castle Essay. . NYTimes Best Seller - The Glass Castle - Test, Essay, Reading guide

  • 1. The Glass Castle Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Glass Castle" presents a unique set of challenges, requiring a delicate balance between analysis, interpretation, and personal reflection. First and foremost, delving into the intricacies of Jeannette Walls' memoir demands a comprehensive understanding of the author's life experiences and the broader societal context. This entails thorough research to grasp the autobiographical elements and to explore the socio-economic challenges faced by the Walls family. Moreover, the task involves weaving together a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates textual evidence, critical analysis, and one's own insights. The challenge lies in avoiding a mere summary of events but rather offering a thoughtful examination of the book's themes, characters, and the author's message. It requires the writer to navigate through the complex dynamics of family relationships, poverty, resilience, and the pursuit of one's dreams. Balancing objectivity and subjectivity is another hurdle. While providing an objective analysis of the text, the essay should also allow room for personal reflections and interpretations. Striking this balance can be intricate, as it requires the writer to form a connection with the material without letting personal biases overshadow the critical evaluation. Additionally, ensuring that the essay is engaging and well-structured is a constant challenge. The narrative should flow smoothly, guiding the reader through the key points while maintaining a cohesive and logical progression. This demands careful planning, revising, and editing to refine the language and structure. In conclusion, tackling an essay on "The Glass Castle" involves navigating a complex narrative, understanding the author's intent, balancing objectivity and subjectivity, and crafting a well- structured, engaging piece. It's a task that demands dedication, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for the nuances of Walls' memoir. The Evolution Of Management Theory Introduction Detailed Summary Management theory constantly evolves when there are new ideas or when there is and intention of attempts of transforming the theory. Hence this theory can also be called as the condensed theory To know the history of the management theory is the fundamental task (Sarshar, 2002). The evolution of management began after the industrial revolution had occurred in Europe and America, which was in the end of the 19th century. During the evolution of the management theory, there were many major changes happening, like economic, cultural and technical. The start of the evolution of the management theory was when there was an introduction to the steam power. That was the time when the industries were built with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientific management theory The techniques of the scientific management theory were defined by Frederick W. Taylor. F W Taylor was a manufacturing manager, but he eventually became a consultant. He introduced four principles Principle 1: Study the way workers perform their tasks, gather all the informal jobs, knowledge that worker possess, and experiment with ways of improving how tasks are performed. Principle 2: Codify the new methods of performing tasks into written rules and standard operating procedures. Principle 3: Carefully select workers who possess skills and abilities that match the needs of the task and train them to perform according to the established rules and procedures. Principle 4: Establish a fair or acceptable level of performance for a tasks, and then develop a pay system that rewards performance about the acceptable level (Jones and George, 2003). In the 1900 s these principles were known nationally and were applied in many organisations. In some organisations the managers choose to follow only some of the principles, which led to some problems. After applying the principles the efficiency of the organisation increased, but instead of sharing the profit with the workers as specified by Taylor, the managers expected the workers to work for more hours for that same wages. After a while the workers realised that the increase in the efficiency in the firm

The Problem Of Academic Procrastination The problem of Academic procrastination Sultan Alqahtani Academic procrastination has quite often been a significant purpose behind poor academic performance particularly among students who are academically competent which is showed in a study done by Onwuegbuzie and Jiao (2000), where 95% of students take part in academic procrastination in a school level while around 61% hesitate at a graduate level. Notwithstanding students realizing that procrastination in academics leads to poor performance, students infrequently attempt overcome stalling and rather assert that the weight to perform empowers them to finish the assignments. • 4. Superpacs Pros And Cons In the 2016 election cycle, over 1.4 billion dollars was given to presidential candidates (Federal Election Commission 2016a). This is more than any other presidential election cycle in history (Price 2016). Another billion dollars was given to U.S. House of Representatives candidates, and about 600 million dollars was given to U.S. Senate candidates (Federal Election Commission 2016b). The majority of this money went to funding the candidates campaigns. This money controlled whose ads voter s saw on television and which candidates were able to afford to travel the country campaigning for votes. In many cases, the candidate with the most money available won their election. Most campaigns are financed in large part by a small number... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means they will likely raise money in any way possible to increase their chances of winning. This leads many members of Congress to give less consideration to the needs of low income individuals when developing legislation. Since these low income individuals do not have the means to give large amounts of money to re election campaigns, their views are often ignored. Many members of Congress endorse legislation that would benefit their largest donors. This leads to a Congress that is not a true representative of the broad interests across the United States (Flavin 2015). The increasing importance of big money in campaigns has also heightened the polarization within Congress. Candidates have been forced to develop strong views on the most polarizing topics, such as abortion, LGBT rights, and gun regulations. If a candidate does not express strong views on these topics, wealthy Republican or Democratic super PACs are not likely to back them. This has caused more gridlock in Congress as many members are not willing to compromise on these important topics (La Raja
  • 5. Intercultural Communication Is Defined As Situated... Intercultural communication is defined as situated communication between individuals or groups of different linguistic and cultural origins (Lanqua, n.p.). Whenever communication happens between people whose first language is not the local language or when people communicate who grew up in different cultures they are committing intercultural communication. This sounds like something that does not occur very often, but it is quite common and is becoming more common as new technologies allow people to communicate from all over the world without ever having to leave the comfort of their house. Intercultural communication also occurs within a single country between different co cultures. The United States Armed Forces and the United States would be an example of this. The United States Armed Forces is in the top ten biggest militaries in the world. With that many people, intercultural communication happens very frequently within the country. As a side note, while there are differences within the cultures, this is only looking at the overall general behavior of the culture. The military itself has its own culture. Militaries are societies unto themselves, with their own sociology, history, values and beliefs. Military culture is built on these principles of shared history and values (Hill, 2015). The core values of the military can be found in the acronym LDRSHIP, which stands for loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. These are

  • 7. Cortisol Research Paper Cortisol production is stimulated by ACTH secretion from the anterior pituitary via numerous feedback mechanisms according to the circadian rhythm, with peak levels in the early morning and smaller fluctuations throughout the day. ACTH secretion is stimulated by CRH in the hypothalamus which is stimulated by things such as: decreases in plasma cortisol, hypoglycemia, stress, and infection. Secretion of ACTH leads to conversion of cholesterol to cortisol in the zona fasciculata of the adrenal gland via various cytochrome P450 enzymes. Increased levels of cortisol itself cause negative feedback on the pituitary and hypothalamus. The zona glomerulosa is the site of production of Aldosterone, the principal mineralocorticoid, via similar mechanisms (cytochrome p 450.) Aldosterone production is stimulated by activation of the renin angiotensin system in response to decreased intravascular volume (sensed by baroreceptors), decreased sodium levels sensed in the macula densa of the nephron, and by the sympathetic nervous system in response to stress. Over ninety percent of cortisol in the blood is bound to corticosteroid binding globulin, and about ten percent is in the free, biologically active form, however these levels may vary during times of ... • 8. Chapter 9 Of The Great Gatsby The setting in the last chapter is unchanged from the start of the novel, which suggests that Alex s persona has behaved the same way. Even as Alex moves from place to place, the settings match up. At the beginning of chapter seven of part three, Alex is once again sitting in the Korova Milkbar with three other friends. At this point, the story seems to come full circle and creates a sense of DГ©jГ vu since the setting of the first page was the same place. Burgess begins to incorporate a sense of change in the last chapter when Alex explains the heighth of fashion, which in those days was these very wide trousers and a very loose black shiny leather like jerkin over an open necked shirt with a scarf tucked in (Burgess 201). However, unlike the first chapter, Alex has new friends and he is now the oldest one in the group (##). In the first chapter, as Alex and his droogs are making their way through the town, they run into an old man carrying books. They decide to beat the man and rob him and Alex takes part in the beating (9). In the last chapter a similar event occurs in which the group meets a man on the street. But this time Alex does not take part in the beating stating, more and more these days I had just been giving the orders and standing back to viddy them being carried out (202). This statement suggest that Alex has undergone some sort of change, however shallow it may be, because previously Alex would not have been able to resist getting in on the action. In both chapters, the friends move on to the Duke of New York bar and purchase drinks for the same three ladies. In contrast to the first chapter, older Alex hesitates to give away his money to them because these last days...there had come into his gulliver a like desire to keep all [his] pretty polly to [himself], indicating that he has become more economical (203). As stated before, following this event the chapters take turns in opposite directions. At the beginning of the book, Alex and his droogs
  • 9. Gas Utilization Of Oil And Gas Technologies Although the difficulty in storing processing, transporting and distributing gas makes it difficult to utilise (Cost of transporting per unit energy is about 10 times higher than that of oil) (Thomas et al, 2000), the evolution in oil and gas technologies has presented many new ways for the commercialisation of APG, Technological options for the monetisation of APG categorised into the methods available for getting gas from production sites to consumers where it can consumed. In this chapter the various methods would be briefly described, highlighting obtainable products and benefits, challenges and limitations and viability conditions. These methods are summarised as shown in figure 10. Figure 10: Paths to gas monetisation 4.1.1 Pipelines This is the oldest and simplest form of gas utilization. It involves transporting treated gas from producers directly to its consumers (Speight, 2007; Kidnay et al., 2006) 4.1.1.1 Products and Benefits The product is pipeline quality gas for domestic, commercial and industrial use or for further processing. Utilized mainly for power and heat generation. Once in place, this system aids the utilization of massive amounts of APG a well planned out pipeline network could supply numerous consumers from numerous producers 4.1.1.2 Challenges and Limitations The Pipeline system is inflexible. Once built, routes cannot be changed and additional connections are complex and uneconomical. Once piping diameters are decided, quantities that can be

As shown in figure, there are frictional losses due to the meshing of gears and misalignment of the shaft when load is exerted on the track. The proposed mechanical motion rectifier harvester system consists of two major parts. The first part is input assembly, which acts to convert bi directional linear motion into single directional rotational motion. The input assembly consists of two rack and pinions, and two roller clutches. The roller clutches are fitted into the two pinions, either of them engage input shaft at a single direction. The second part consists of the gearhead, power generator, and flywheel. These components are use to convert the motion into useful energy. Figure 2.1: Flow Chart The harvester will be mounted to and spans two rail ties. As it is shown in Figure, the harvester consists of : two rack and two pinion gear which convert the linear motion to rotatry motion. Figure 2.2: Modified Prototype A bearing clutch will be used to rectify the up and down motion of the rail track and a gearbox will be used to amplify the rotatry motion and a permanent magnet DC generator will be used to convert that rotation into usefull energy(electricity). When the train travels over the track, the rail tie system displaces vertically. The rack gear is fixed in the subgrade, the harvester travels up and down relative to the rack gear, and the pinion gear moves relative to the rack gear. • 11. What Are The Long Term Causes Of The Great Depression The Great Depression was a time in the U.S where the economy had dropped and the majority of the population struggled with poverty. One of the long term causes of the Great Depression was that there was no program to help aid the people because President Hoover believed in rugged individualism, another long term reason of the depression was that the people had placed money on the banks and the banks would share it for the stock market and usually didn t give it back. For instance, FDR had prior knowledge that major communities in the nation had a huge a distrust of the government, the president wanted to achieve that reliance again so that there would be a growing economy once more in the U.S. The belief that FDR had of doing everything you can to make things better illustrates to us and the people of the time that he wanted to gain that trust and faith that everyone had lost because of the prior leader and the depression. Furthermore, President Roosevelt had made a speech covering everything that he was willing to do for his country and the faith of the people. This shows that he wanted to approach everything to make the past a learnable experience and to move on from the tragic downfall the U.S had. Thirdly, He wasn t afraid to loose a lot from the the New Deal programs because he wanted to support the country in need. The President had established an act called the social security act and it was a step forward to the the acts that he had assigned before and after. This shows that everything FDR had done was successful because it gave people that faith again to move forward and create a better moving

For large adults, baby pinky mice can be fed to them. Calcium and D3 should be supplemented to properly provide their nutritional needs. Husbandry Leopard geckos need a tank with about 15 20 gallons to themselves. There should only be one gecko in a tank at a time. They are nocturnal animals so a hiding space is great for them. Half logs or fake caves are options for climbing, hiding and sleeping. A damp plastic container with a hole in the lid filled with damp soil or moss provides a good place for geckos to shed. The bottom of the cage can have paper, slate rocks with calcium sand, carpet or even paper towels.
  • 13. The Effect Of Technique And Positional Release Therapy On... My Research topic is a comparative study to evaluate the effectiveness of Bowen Technique and Positional Release Therapy on Trapezitis. Trapezitis is the inflammation of the trapezius muscle which gets aggravated by activity and even at rest. It is a very common condition seen in practically most of the individuals. Trapezitis has serious implications like neck pain, reduction in the range of motion, stiffness etc. It s very commonly seen in students, people working for long time on computers, Excessive driving etc. The positional release technique is one of the technique used in Physical Therapy which has been proven to help Trapezitis. Bowen Technique is a soft tissue manipulation Technique which is also found to be beneficial in pain reduction. There hasn t been a comparative study done on both the techniques.Hence I would like to do a comparative study to see which is more effective in Trapezitis. There is paucity in literature with regards to effectiveness of Bowens technique on Trapezitis. The less number of research articles on this topic facilitated me to conduct a study on this topic. This research study will help me clinically in applying the results of this study to my patients in the clinic. The incidence of neck pain is 3 5% population worldwide. Hence it is very important that I know which technique works the best so my patients will be benefited from it. For instance, it states Rowlandson here recounts learning another Native American wilderness technique, using a beaver dam as a bridge (Rowlandson 333). This is relevant of proving how the American frontier heroes are still current, because without these heroes today, student and people would not be able to learn about the Native American history or the way of life. Like stated, Rowlandson learned how the Native Americans used a beaver dam as a bridge, without these heroes showing and telling others about this information, humans today would leave beaver dams alone since it is an animals home. Another reason the American frontier hero is important is to learn the crucial element of wilderness survival is the ability Rowlandson developed to successfully reconcile Native American and Puritan ways (Rowlandson 333). This is vital information, because without the American frontier hero s students or people would not be fully aware or informed on how to

Since the Vietnamese people were in search for their independence, they wouldn t accept being under the control of another nation, therefore, for the United States, they saw violence as their only solution. During such draconian times, many thought that there might not be a solution to end the violence and misery, except for King. In his speech, King explains that there is a solution for the current dilemma, or in this case, a cure to this horrible disease. In the section, This Madness Must Cease, King affirms that, he has the possible solution and provides a list of how it can be possible to solve this issue: I would like to suggest five concrete things that our government should do immediately to begin the long and difficult process of extricating ourselves from this nightmarish conflict: 1.End all bombing in North and South Vietnam. 2.Declare a unilateral cease fire in the hope that such action will create the atmosphere for negotiation. 3.Take immediate steps to prevent other battlegrounds in

In 18th century literature, women often fell into the men s traps and succumbed to seduction. After they fell though, they would have to be punished in order to prevent women of the time period reading these stories from thinking they had too much power. Historically, one of the most economically vulnerable groups in New Zealand and other Western countries are sole parent families (Family Commissions, 2010). When examining historical influences in New Zealand on sole parenting, one must consider the influential changes the Second World War era had on families and family structures. Sole parenthood was not particularly common during the this period, as most women married young and went on to have children while the men worked to provide for their families or went off to war. (Families Commission, 2008, June). Unmarried women who fell pregnant were scrutinized as being unfit mothers and shamed for getting pregnant outside of marriage. These women were heavily encouraged to give their babies up for adoption to allow their children to live a normal life and were seen as selfish if they chose to keep the baby (Else, A., 2012). The thousand years referenced in this bible verse was symbolic of Christ s resurrection victory over death and how the people of God were going to share in His glorious reign. Examples of these events can be pulled from the world, Church, and even events of history and the Bible. This image is a particularly true representation of a time of unrest in a country. Many wars are started and fought long and hard, but long before the wars officially ends there can be seen an evident and certain victor. This is especially evident when looking back upon wars fought in history. Though it did not seem so at the time, the victor was clearly when looking back upon them from the future. The theme of the image is interpreted to mean that Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, has already died and saved us from our sins; however, Satan is still present in the world seeking the ruins of souls. The work of Satan can easily be contradicted thanks to the victory of Jesus Christ, opening up the gates of heaven for us and offering us redemption from our

First off, the devil is a figure in the Christian religion and since Pagans are not Christians, the devil holds no place in Pagnism. • 33. The Pros And Cons Of Animals In Zoos According to CNN, animal advocacy group Born Free reports that there have been 256 injuries in zoos due to animal attacks over the past 26 years, resulting in 33 deaths. Every single year there are many animals killed or injured in zoo s. There are numerous zoo s placed all over the United States. The zoos keep the animals trapped in a fenced in enclosure with little to no water source or spacious area. Numerous people disagree with the fact various breeds are mixed in the same enclosure. People believe that animals should be allowed to enjoy their own natural habitat and live with their families, and not trapped within enclosures. In the wild, elephants often walk up to 30 miles a day. Bears are very active animals, they roam around hundreds of miles exploring, and are normally active for 18 or more hours a day. Tigers and lions will roam for many miles just to hunt down their pray, and love to run and climb on things. But when these animals are imprisoned in cages and small enclosures at the zoo, they aren t capable of living up to their natural instincts. Living without these important things often causes zoochosis is a condition in which animals act strangely and even hurt themselves out of boredom and frustration . Some don t realize all the cons of animals being kept in a zoo. Since visitors love seeing baby animals at zoos, several zoos breed animals to make more babies, and, as a result, create more profit. When these babies grow up, though, they aren t as popular. Zoos often trade, loan, or sell adult animals who aren t making them as much money as when they were younger. Can you even imagine someone getting rid of you just because you weren t a baby anymore? These sad, unwanted animals may end up in roadside zoos or traveling circuses. Others are simply bought to be killed. For example, when baby animals who were displayed in the Minnesota Zoo s farm exhibit grew up and didn t attract as many visitors, the zoo took them to livestock auctions, where many ended up being sent to slaughter. When people go to zoos they have no idea of these things. Possibly the biggest lie that zoos tell people is that by visiting them, people will learn about wild animals. If zoos are teaching

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy ( Rebt ) Foundation Introduction Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) foundation says that the way people make assumptions about themselves and the world around them influences their emotions and behavior. The purpose of this paper is to give an overview of what REBT is, its obstacles, how to deal with those obstacles, and the effectiveness of this therapy. History REBT was developed by Albert Ellis in 1955. (Wilson, 2014) Ellis did not agree with conventional ways of psychoanalysis because, to him, they were superficial and unscientific. White people understood black people more through their expression of art during both movements. Both movements brought about a broad cross racial following and, ironically, in both instances brought about a better understanding of the black experience for white America. The rent party also represented the way that African Americans overcame the oppressive surroundings of the ghetto. In this way, rent parties not only assisted people in paying the rent, but it also helped the growth and development of jazz as a music genre. Through jazz music and the celebratory nature of the parties, a community was built. [3] [4] The Harlem Renaissance arguably lasted about 15 years and is said to have ended with the onset of the Great Depression. The European American infatuation with the Negro declined in the 1930s, in large part due to the collapse of the stock market. Also, the depression exposed the economic vulnerability of Harlem, given that much of the real estate in Harlem was owned by European Americans; and when the depression hit, African Americans lost their jobs at faster rates than European Americans, caused foreclosures on mortgages, evictions from rental properties, and a depression and alienation from the American Dream that was expressed violently in the first modem race riot,

I begin each scrub in the center of the scrubbed area, over the planned incision site, and scrub in a bulls eye pattern toward the periphery, never going back to the center with the same gauze sponge. That number adds up to 1,456 hours of television a year, which means that children spend an average of 2 months out of the year watching nonstop TV! Though these figures are shocking, even more shocking is the scientific evidence that confirms the detrimental effect watching the televisionis having on today s children. Watching television for long periods of time has been directly linked to childhood obesity. A study done by the National Center for Education Statistics shows that children in kindergarten and first grade who watched more than one hour of television per day, children viewing as little as one hour of TV daily were 58 percent to 73 percent more likely to be obese than children who watched less than one hour. (DeBoer, 2015) This is due in part to children s tendency to eat on unhealthy, high calorie foods while they watch TV. An article by HealthDay News found that children in homes where parents watch regular TV with commercials had higher levels of junk food consumption and were more likely to have distorted views about healthy eating than children in homes where parents watched commercial free digitally recorded TV or other types of media without food advertising. (Preidt, 2013) Also contributing to this is the fact that children do not exercise while they watch TV, and watching television often takes the place of outside activities. Another
  • 46. Example Of Superhero In Beowulf Imagine a superhero, believed to be the bravest and greatest role model. Everyone looks up to that superhero and wants to be like him. Some would say that the superhero is the model person for how society should act. But then, one day people found out the superhero was a fraud; he was not actually a good role model and was all for show. In the poem, Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, Beowulf is a character who is the same fraud as the metaphorical superhero. It is seen through his brash decisions that he values glory and personal achievement, and lets his ego dictate the decisions he makes, and how he lives his life. While Beowulf seems like the model Anglo Saxon, he is in fact driven by his ego and pursuit of glory. Because of this he breaks comitatus and is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon. Beowulf is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon because he goes against comitatus and ignores his king. When Beowulf returns to Geatland, Hygelac tells him that his decision to leave troubled him, Your undertaking / cast my spirt down, I dreaded the outcome / of your expedition and I pleaded with you / long and hard to leave the killer be (1992 1995). Hygelac explains that he didn t want Beowulf to go and fight Grendel in the first place. It can be inferred that Beowulf went anyway because he wanted the reward and wanted recognition. If Beowulf was the model warrior he would have obeyed Hygelac. The Anglo Saxons put a very heavy value on comitatus and loyalty, so for Beowulf to disregard it, shows that he is the opposite of the ultimate Anglo Saxon. When Beowulf finds out about Grendel it says, He announced his plan: / to sail the swan s road and search out that king, / the famous prince who needed defenders. (199 201). Beowulf hears about Grendel and immediately decides that he will go and help. Comitatus makes a warrior loyal to his king, not the prince of a different nation. By going over, Beowulf shows that he cares more about a foreign leader than his own king. Famous , is used to describe the prince. It can be inferred that Beowulf learned he was famous and only went because he was hoping for a reward. Beowulf breaks comitatus and has his loyalties crossed and broken, in the pursuit of glory

When having a conversation with a person, it could be considered rude or thought to be hiding something if eye contact is not made. Behavior is not always the same throughout life, it can vary. Early childhood experiences, future expectations, and beliefs have the greatest impact on human behaviors. Early childhood experiences play a role in the various factors in one s life. A large scale example of how early childhood experiences affect human behavior greatly is the wild child , Genie. Genie was not given any love or affection as a toddler, was strapped in a chair, and was forced into silence by her father. Genie could not walk properly, was incontinent, and could only speak a few words. Genie did not experience emotional support and typical childhood activities nearly all children in the United States experience. Perhaps if Genie would have received love and support and was able to play like a normal child when she was a toddler, she could have thrived. A personal example would be my passion for being outdoors. When I was younger, my parents would always tell my step brother, step sister and I to go play outside. We were always outside jumping on the trampoline, riding bikes, or just running around playing made up games in the yard. Now, I enjoy being outdoors doing things like taking my dog for a walk, riding a bike, or just sitting down and enjoying the
