Clinician Psychodynamic Theory Paper
Introduction Theories inform many activities that social workers use within their practice. It provides
a lens that allows the clinician to understand the client s needs in a different way, depending on what
theory is being acknowledged. This paper explores three theories, and how they informed projects
performed within the Department of Family Services. Additionally, the strengths and limitations of
each theory are also documented. While no theory fits in to every situation within the social work
practice, each has a concept or quality that can improve overall practice and understanding of the
client s being served.
Conflict Theory Description Conflict emerges in almost every environment, and is a recurring theme

The theory is considered revolutionary due to it s life span model of human development that included
eight psychosocial stages. He purposed that in each stage there is a conflict or crisis that the individual
must successfully settle to continue with their development. Erikson also believed that external and
internal forces had significant contributions to how successful an individual s development would be
(Sokol, 2009). The theory is broad and assists in the understanding of development across the lifespan.
Additionally, it takes in to consideration both social and biological factors. The theory has some
criticism as well. Often labeled as vague, some feel the theory is not specific enough and is difficult to
test. Furthermore, other perspectives are that the theory needs to elaborate on how culture impacts the
developmental stages (Zhang,

Kohn s Main Criticisms Of The Growth Mindset Theory
The growth mindset theory is the idea that by having grit, self determination and by believing you can
do well in school you will in return become more successful. This like many aspects in our culture
today has a large bias towards different political groups, that was something I found very interesting
because this system tends to be a conservative ideology. One of my initial thoughts I had while
reading this essay was the source it was coming from; Salon tends to be a more of a liberal news
source so the article may be biased towards the idea of Growth Mindset. Kohn s main idea of the
essay is that the Growth Mindset Theory, Kohn s main criticisms of the theory is that Students should
be striving to learn and not striving to Achieve. The problem with sweeping, generic claims about the
power of attitudes or beliefs isn t just a risk of overstating the benefits but also a tendency to divert ...

While reading, this I could compare it to the nominee for Secretary of Education; Betsy DeVos,
somebody with little to none public school experience will now be the person who now runs our
public education. The authors intended audience is parents of students, by explaining and pointing out
flaws of Growth Mindset, the author is trying to persuade these parents that this fad is harmful for
children. Another audience that Kohn is targeting is the liberal community since Salon tends to be a
more left wing news site and the views that Kohn states are more of a liberal ideology. A question I
asked myself throughout the essay that was never answered was if The Growth Mindset Theory was

A Brief Note On Valley Forge Military Academy College
Introduction
Valley Forge Military Academy College (VFMAC) is an institution that has adapted the military
model in offering studies. A military model is an arrangement that an organization uses to achieve its
key goals through the application of key values that are used within the military. The adopted values
include culture and the lifestyle that is practiced by the military. The military is applied as the major
means through which leaning is offered. Some of the ways through which the military concepts are
applied include; creation of an orderly and excellent atmosphere where learning takes place. Creation
of a structured system that is efficient in carrying out studies. The system also plays a significant role
in the development of various policies within the organization. Within the system, students develop a
high level of responsiveness in society. That is mainly because they are offered an opportunity to
practice the virtues of organization and high quality leadership skills. The skills are of great
significance once the learners get out of the school. That is mainly because they have been taught on
the various aspects of becoming a responsible citizen (Speelman, 2010).
The philosophy behind the establishment of Valley Forge Military Academy College is to ensure that
there is an improvement in the lives of individuals through an integrated system and the general life of
the groups. The education is tailored in a manner that it offers possible solutions to the

Saltwater Crocodile Research Paper
The Saltwater Crocodile The saltwater crocodile is one of the largest non mammalian creatures. It also
lives to about 70 years and weighs about 1200 pounds for a male, and 200 pounds for a female. The
length of a male varies between 14 17 ft. While the females length is between 7.5 11 ft. All of these
numbers are of averages of adult saltwater crocodiles. Now I will compare four systems of a crocodile
to a human. In the circulatory system, the crocodile has a four chambered heart, as well as a double
looped circulatory system. They breathe using their lungs in and under water. The saltwater crocodile
can be submerged for quite a while. Up to 8 hours as the longest recording ever known. They use
conservation of the oxygen and can survive in some sub temperature ponds. This occurs when the
crocodile heads too far north. As for humans, we can obviously breathe using our lungs as well.
Though we can not submerge and conserve oxygen as a crocodile can. It is the same concept anyway,
just made for their own habitat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It all starts at the super strong jaw of the saltwater crocodile. It can just brutally snap bones of a once
living animal, like nothing. Then, it heads south, where the crocodile uses the esophagus and heads
past the trachea. It continues on its path to the stomach, where it has incredibly strong digestive acids.
It needs this due to the way it devours animals. It goes to the intestines that sort out what is needed
and what is not needed. Finally, to remove and dispose the waste, it leaves through the cloaca. All of
the main digestive parts are the same to humans, except for the cloaca, or human anus. It is pretty
similar, but the crocodile has more of a incomplete disposal. We have a full one, depending on what
we eat. The crocodile just has a quick, rapid disposal, not much to work on, just what needs to be

The Ethics Of The National Women s Hall Of Fame
Fate is debatable. Some say that we are all pawns in a higher being s chess game. Others believe that
we execute free will in every aspect of our lives. Most people, however, believe a combination of the
two. It is an age old question, and like all intangible questions we try again and again to formulate an
answer through books, movies, conversations, analysis of history and prediction of the future. We look
at snapshots of the past or theoretical worlds and try to discern our own answers. When Katherine
Switzer decided to register for and run the Boston Marathon in 1967, was it an action of her own will
or was it predestined? Did the events preceding her decision cause her to make said decision? Was

While the athletes recognized it was time for women to join the sport, others had vastly different
opinions.
During the Boston Marathon, there is a section for photographers to take shots of the athletes. It just
so happened that this was where Jock Semple tried to throw Katherine out of the race. Unluckily for
him however, Katherine s boyfriend at the time, Tom Miller, an All American footballer, was running
the marathon with her and tackled Jock. If she had not made the decision to date Tom Miller, she most
likely would have been physically thrown out of the race and never have finished. This whole scene
took place right in front of the photographers and the photo of Semple trying to throw Switzer out is
now rather famous and served as huge publicity for women in sports at the time (Makers). In order for
Switzer to have made as big of a splash as she did, so many smaller details had to fall into place. For
starters, Katherine s father was a major in the United States Army, this set her up to lead a physically
active life. Additionally she went to a school with an open and supportive cross country coach.
Without that coach, it is questionable as whether she would have registered for, or even have run the
marathon! Lastly, if Jock Semple had not tried to physically remove her from the race in front of the
photographers, the iconic photo that changed the face of women in sports might

The Relief and Intaglio Printmaking Process
Describe the Relief Printmaking process. List an artist who uses the form of printmaking. Refer to this
video for more information.
The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material,
such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design.
Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all
over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have
the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts .
There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used so an artist can engrave an
image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the second step of the process could be left
to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece,
Hydra , I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece.
But this may only be for the reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course,
Lyell isn t the only artist who uses this printmaking process. Another artist who uses Relief
Printmaking is Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai used the same process to create his color woodcut piece
called South Wind, Clear Sky , a portrayal of Mount Fuji. Describe the Intaglio Printmaking process.

Acoustic Characteristics Of Courtship And Agonistic...
Why was the study Acoustic characteristics of courtship and agonistic vocalizations in Przwewalskii s
horse and in domestic horse (Alberghina et al. 2015) carried out and what benefits has it brought to the
research area? The study in question seeks to analyse the difference between the vocalisation of 2
species of the genus Equus in order to develop a deeper understanding of morphological factors
affecting the sounds the animals make which in turn may provide data that then allows further
research into evolutionary divergence. The two species are very similar but are different slightly at
both a physical and genetic level. These species have different chromatic numbers yet are so closely
related that they can produce fertile offspring as documented by Bennett and Hoffman (1999).
Domestic horses only exist as they are due to human intervention and so the divergence of domestic
horses from their wild counterparts is fairly recent in evolutionary terms. This makes the study
valuable not only in adding to the limited research on Przwewalskii vocalizations but also to further
evolutionary biology. Equally its findings may also set a precedent for differences in vocalisations
between other closely related species as referenced to in the text are studies on different animals of
which some are only very distantly related to horses, even so far as to include a reference to a study on
different species clownfish (Colleye et al. 2011). This essay aims to summarize and critically

The Mind And The Body
The mind and the body are two different but unique essentials of an individual. Both the mind and the
body play an important role in an individual s life. From making decisions by using the brain, to being
able to sense all five senses from the body, both parts illustrate its importance of existence. In today s
society, the mind and the body have shown a connection between how an individual regulates his or
her own daily lifestyle. Although, it hasn t always been clear about how the mind and the body are
connected. In fact, back in the day, individuals didn t seem to understand the importance of the mind
and the body. Many philosophers, such as Descartes and Spinoza were two important contributors that
illustrated the importance of the mind. Both individuals had similar thinking, however, they both still
had different theories and ideas about the human mind and body. Even though science believes that
the mind and the body must work together, Descartes believed that the mind and the body are two
different essences that are conscious, and have their own regulations and ways of existing and can
exist on their own, and lastly, both the mind and the body have their own observational patterns.
Firstly, Descartes does have the right to hold that the mind and body are two completely separate
things, with different essences, as he has explained this by the argument that both the mind and the
body have their own conscious roles. According to Descartes, the mind will always be

Application Of The Personality Theories Developed By Erik...
Application of the Personality Theories Developed by Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell
Personality is made up of the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a
person unique. It arises from within the individual and remains fairly consistent throughout life
(Cherry, 2014). My personality is influenced from my specific circumstances, my upbringing, and it is
represented best through the theorists of Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell.
In specific circumstances my behavior changes, I am introverted, and quiet with new people for
example. In large groups of people I stick to my friends and remain quiet. In the instance that I know a
good majority of the people that I am around, I am outgoing. Generally, I don t associate with new
people, and when I do am reluctant to share with them. As a result of my inability to open up to new
people, I ve failed to acknowledge my feelings altogether as well. For the most part I lack a father
figure within my life, but I have accepted this reality. Comparatively my brother has played the male
role. My mom and I for the most part share a complex relationship, but it is a strong relationship all in
all.
My upbringing and circumstances are responsible for my personality. I was born in Allentown,
Pennsylvania. Up till now I have never moved, but my brother and I grew up with two homes. My
brother is only three years older than me, so we often related like peers. As a result of my parent s
divorce, I ve grown up

critically ill patients that can be described in the following terms including ICU syndrome, acute
confusional state, encephalopathy, acute brain failure, and postoperative delirium. However, the lack
of terminological consensus has led authors to collectively term this syndrome of brain dysfunction as
delirium (Bujar). Delirium is defined in the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Diagnostic and

Environmental interventions that can be used to orient the client when they are in times of confusion,
stress or overstimulation can be to place calendars, clocks, and family pictures in the client s room.
Another possible intervention is for the caregiver to help orient and reduce possible agitation. Sensory
overload can also result in patient stress and anxiety, which may be due to environmental noise levels
that are particularly high in the ICU. Interventions can include limiting noise in and around the client s
room and helping the client understand noises that cannot be prevented. Conversation can be stressful
to hear for some patients, even more so if it is about the client. Stress can be reduced by staff by
finding a more appropriate place in the unit away from the client for client related discussion.
Decreasing or muting the noise of phones, setting alarms based on client conditions and reducing
unnecessary alarms can also help to limit noise. For example, when assessing a client s blood pressure,
making sure to silence the alarm when handling BP devices or invasive lines and remembering to reset
them when done help reduce noise levels for the patient. It is useful to remember that pharmacological
treatments given to improve delirium may themselves cause delirium or increase sedation. Almost
every medication prescribed in the ICU setting can

Low Birth Rates
The increased morbidity, mortality, and cost of pregnancy outcome in the United States is strongly
correlated with low birth weight infants. The two main reasons for infants being born with low birth
weight is due to preterm delivery (birth before 37 weeks of pregnancy) and intrauterine growth
restriction (Goldenberg Culhane, 2007). Babies that are born way earlier before their full term have
lower birth weight. In the United States, about 1 in 10 babies is born premature and 7 out of 10 of
these preterm babies are of low birth weight (March of Dimes, 2014). According to the World Health
organization, the global prevalence of neonatal deaths as a result of low birth weight is about 60%
80%. Babies that are born with a low birth weight have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, African American women and women living in poverty are twice as likely to have a
preterm birth as compared to different population groups (Goldenberg and Culhane, 2007). In the
2013 March of Dimes report, D.C. received a C for its premature birth rate in comparison to other US
states. According to the report, when considering racial groups the District had the largest disparity of
preterm birth rates. Blacks had the highest preterm birth rate of 12.6%, while Hispanics and Whites
had rates of 9.4% and 7.5% respectively (Sturdivant, 2015). Because the number one killer of babies
in the United States is preterm birth, it is critical that research is done to help healthcare workers fully

Well here s what I have found out. When you come here, somethings may not make sense. Some

In addition, kids in school often struggle with the lack of ability to remember what they learned the

round schooling can help students with this problem.
According to Grace Chen, an outstanding education researcher and writer in the article
Year Round Vs Traditional Schedule in Public Schools she stated that children often lose skills in
math and language art over summer break, they also have to readapt to school schedules, teachers,
school expectations and homework deadlines. This shows that students go through a lot of stress to
readapt to school over their long summer break and that results in the loss of concrete skills needed to
succeed in school.
Students would not have to relearn what they forget over the summer since they would only be out of

Negative Body Image
When she was younger, she would flip through her sister s magazines. She came to the realization that
being skinny was attractive and appealing. She comprehended the fact that no one had the same
appearance as her. They were lighter, had blonde flowy hair, and an hourglass figure. Looking at
herself, she realized that she looked nothing like them. Looking back at the magazine she wondered, Is
that what is desirable? Body image is how you see yourself in your head. A positive body image can
improve your self acceptance and self esteem. A negative image can lead to feelings of depression and
isolation. Many women want to rectify their body to have a favorable image. Body image has a
detrimental influence on women because the media depicts an unrealistic body as ideal, women
become susceptible to eating disorders, and women alter their body with cosmetic surgery.
The media depicts an unrealistic body as ideal. Women see impractical pictures of other bodies all the

The Truman Doctrine and Iron Curtain Speech
The Truman Doctrine and Iron Curtain Speech
After World War II, the USSR and United States engaged in an unprecedented conflict called the Cold
War. Despite the armaments being produced, this war was not directly fought with thousands of
soldiers or massive weapons. An enormous rise in tensions created a competition between the two
countries for diplomatic, economic, cultural, and military dominance. Of course, nothing was official
until President Harry Truman and Winston Churchill worked together to form a partnership of anti
Soviet aggression. The Truman Doctrine and Iron Curtain Speech officially started the Cold War,
initiated worldwide indirect fighting, and ended the United States well established policy of
isolationism. The Cold War can be easily described as a battle of communism versus capitalism. When
Britain announced they can no longer support Greece and Turkey, President Truman feared the
domino theory would become a reality and immediately began to develop the Truman Doctrine. This
policy would replace Britain as the major benefactor against the USSR s push for world communism,
and ignite the rivalry between communism and capitalism in Europe. According to John Mueller, the
empty wars that took place were all stemmed out of the bipolar structure of postwar international
politics from a contest of ideas. These contrasting ideologies made it easy for tensions to escalate and
for sides to be chosen. Additionally, Winston Churchill of Great Britain

How is a community formed? I have attended many churches and it can be difficult at times to be
included as the rest of the congregation already has latent knowledge about each other which puts you
on the outside. It can be difficult traversing the multitude of societal rules in order to become part of
the community. Although the early church was encouraged to continue to meet together as, Let us not
give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all
the more as you see the Day approaching (New International Version 2011, Hebrews 10:25). However,
it can be difficult to make those personal and deeper connections in order for members of the church
to encourage one another. Over a period of seven weeks spanning the months of August to October, I
undertook an ethnographic study of the evening meal called dinner which took place before the
Eventide service at St. Elphaba s of the Vale. My ethnographic research was completed using the
participant observation method during a Sunday evening from 6 6.30pm. By using this specific
methodology I was able to engage in all the rituals involved with participating in the meal as well as
observe the interactions of my informants around me. Each week I primarily studied one specific
aspect of the meal service ritual, therefore, I have decided to write one account which is a combination
of all of my weeks of participant observation. The primary theories which I will be using to interpret
my observations are Bronislaw Malinowski and Marcel Mauss theories of exchange, specifically
concerning the Kula ring as well as Emilie Durkheim s theory of the sacred profane dichotomy.
St Elphaba s is situated in the Hills district of Sydney, Australia where the median total income of an
individual, excluding Government pensions and allowances, for 2015 was $53,238 which is
significantly higher than the Australian average of $44,854 (The Hills Shire (A): Region Data
Summary 2017). This was reflected in the socio economic positions of the members of the
congregation. In the course of conversation with many of my informants, they volunteered their jobs
which included doctors, lawyers, builders or some who owned their own successful

Tartuffe, Religion Essay
The context surrounding the period in which Tartuffe was written in, the 17th Century is remembered
as being a time of extreme power for the French Monarchy. King Louis XIV and Cardinal Richelieu
transformed France s feudal monarchy to an absolute monarchy. What must also be noted about this
time is the fact that the Catholic Church and Politicians had a great deal of power over authors and
playwrights. In this time of social and religious persecution, Molière created Tartuffe , a comedy
dealing with hypocrisy and to a great extent, religion and how religion can be used in a negative way,
to mask sin. The play is known to be offensive towards the Catholic Church and religion in general.
When it was first performed in 1664, it was censored, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is at the beginning of the play seen as a God like figure, particularly to Orgon and Madame
Pernelle, by this he is strong and inspirational, however, when he does realises he has been found out
for being in the wrong, his persona changes to guilty and even vulnerable. This is shown in Act III
scene 6 when Damis accuses Tartuffe of trying to seduce Elmire, Tartuffe uses reverse psychology to
win Orgon over by confessing the all things awful, to an extent in which Orgon begins to sympathise
with him. It is clearly shown that Tartuffe goes to the absolute extreme when he apologises to Orgon;
Oui mon frère, je suis un méchant, un coupable,
Un malheureux pécheur tout pleine iniquité,
Les plus grand scélérat qui jamais ait été;
Chaque instant de ma vie est change de souillures;
Elle n est qu un amas de crimes et d ordures;
Et je vois que le ciel, pour ma punition,
Me veut mortifier en cette occasion. The language used is extremely depressing, almost showing that
it is out of character for Tartuffe to do such a thing, he just feels that he should confess as he is under
Orgon s roof and shouldn t make his son out to be a liar. This is what Orgon believes, and although the
audience knows differently, Damis is still asked to leave Orgon s house, showing Orgon, a very
religious man, being completely hypocritical, as he is undermining his family. Orgon

A Study On Water Creek Reservoir
Prairie Creek Reservoir, located in an agricultural water in east central Indiana, serves as a secondary
drinking water supply for Muncie, IN and offers various recreational activities. Monitoring of the
streams and knowledge of its water quality is very limited. This study assessed water quality at five
major tributaries and outfall to support future management decisions. Keywords. Eutrophication,
nutrients, monitoring, streams, reservoir INTRODUCTION In 2014, 43% of all U.S. lakes and
reservoirs were classified as impaired due to not fulfilling one or more designated uses; nutrients and
agriculture were the primary factor and source causing impairments (U.S. EPA 2014). Commercial
fertilizers designed to increase crop productivity can promote biological productivity in waters
draining agricultural lands; fertilizers contribute nearly 57,000 tons of total nitrogen into the White
River per year (Martin, 1996; Popovičová 2008). The continuous supply of nutrients to a water body
can produce algal blooms, intense growth of macrophytes that can lead to dissolved oxygen depletion,
and stress on aquatic environments (Dodds and Welch 2000; U.S. EPA 2002, 2012; Søndergaard et al.
2003; USGS 2013, 2014). Eutrophication can adversely influence recreation, drinking water supply,
industrial uses, and fisheries due to objectionable appeal, fish kills, influx of sedimentation, taste and
odor of drinking water, and increased prices in drinking water treatment (Walker 1983; Carpenter,

The Causes And Consequences Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a huge turning point in history at which the development of industry
began in England in the 18th century. It introduced machinery to the world. The industrial revolution
was characterized by hand production to new machine manufacturing, the increased use of steam
power, the rise of the factory system and development of machine tools. As time passed by, the
technological innovations continued to shape the modern world, Everything that everybody uses
throughout their daily lives is due to manufacturing. How would people ever have been able to put a
man on the moon or get to travel from New York to Paris without the things that came from the
Industrial Revolution? Of course, the consequences of the industrial revolution were brutal, but for the
most part there were solutions to those consequences, that changed the world for the greater good. The
benefits of the industrial revolution outweigh the costs because it led to the creation of unions, and the
technological innovations from the industrial revolution helped change the lifestyle of many people.
Some will say that the benefits of the industrial revolution do not outweigh the cost because child
labor was terrible, and many workers were working in horrible condition at low wages for long hours.
When the industrial revolution began, the rise of the factory system was high. But there were no rules
of how a factory should be run, considering it was a capitalist economy. In a capitalist

Netflix Is The World s Largest Online Dvd Movie Rental...
Introduction
Reed Hasting and Marc Randolph were veteran entrepreneurs and founders of Netflix in Scotts Valley,
California in 1977. They offered DVD for selling and renting over the internet. In reference to
Suite101 business profile, Netflix s mission is to transform the way people access and view the movies
they love and they focus on value, convenience and selection (Choudhary, 2010). Netflix subscribers
who pay $19.95 for unlimited rent are more than one million. These subscribers must rent 3 DVD at
one time. Netflix is the world s largest online DVD movie rental service offering more than
26,000,000 members access to more than 100,000 titles.
Netflix main strategy was to do better than the video shops that carried DVDs, and renting them as
first come first serve. Netflix decided to ship the disc to customers since they were small size and light
weight, very cheap to post them. The firm carried out a trial with over 200 dispatching packages
before they realized a disc would be safely posted with a cost of a single first class stamp, enclosed
with a return mailer stamped. NetFlix.com guaranteed to effectively have all titles in stock, with
reasonably rapid delivery offered through the U.S. Postal Service. They pledged to purchase more
than 1,000 copies of new releases which could be kept in advance for postage the day they were made
available in stores. Steaming devices used for the Netflix are Wii, Xbox, Play Station

The Impact Of The Manchu Invasion Of China
One might wonder what life was like in China 300 years ago? Or even think about the aspects of life
just 100 years ago? Others ponder the history of China, and how the country came to be. The
Manchus, and their invasion of China played an enormous role in all of these thoughts. The Manchu
invasion of China during the 17th century, was an extremely significant event in Chinese history, that
left important impacts on China. It also helped to influence culture for years to come.
The Manchu people were a, federation of various tribes living in what is today China s provinces of
Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang who belonged to the Tungus branch of the Atlantic people (Theobald,
The Manchus ). The Manchus replaced the Ming Dynasty in China after the decline of the Ming in
1644.
The Ming Dynasty ruled China from 1368 until the dynasty commenced deterioration. By the
beginning of the 1600s, the Ming began to lose power due to threats from Barbarians on all sides,
political in fighting, rebellions, and poor loyalty in the military (Ryder). Likewise, the spread of
violence in China contributed to the collapse of the Ming Dynasty (Zarrow). In the year 1644, the
Chinese rebels overthrew the dynasty (Williams). At this time, the Ming emperor committed suicide as
the rebel armies invaded Beijing (Zarrow). After the rebels overthrew the Ming, the Manchu people
stepped in to try and gain power.
The Manchus were able to establish clear power due to their strong discipline, unity,

Controversy Of Euthanasia
Euthanasia has been one of the most controversial and debatable topics in recent years. Even though
the debate about euthanasia seems to be very complex and problematic, it is important to analyze very
deeply some problems and questions related to this issue in order to indicate adequate solutions in
terms of possible legislation. First step is to identify the proper definition of euthanasia as an act of
causing a person s death to end unbearable pain and suffering. In addition, there are many forms of
euthanasia; categorizing those forms and highlighting the development of understanding this concept
over time, is necessary to understand, that involuntary euthanasia is unacceptable as it violets the basic
human rights. and different negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, according to a recent poll almost 42% of surveyed supported euthanasia and 37% opposed (Fig
1). A lot of controversy surrounding this issue stems from the fact that euthanasia has been analyzed
not only from juridical perspective, whether or not it should be legal, but also from various medical,
social, philosophical, religious points of view. The topic seems to be extremely relevant not only
because it is related to the basic principles of society regarding life and death, but also it affects every
person, especially who suffers from a terminal illness. This study tries to indicate possible solutions
for some questions related to euthanasia in order to show that in many cases euthanasia can be avoided
by adequate treatment and that proper and clearly legislation is necessary to protect patients. For the
purpose of this paper, euthanasia can be defined as conduct that brings about an easy and painless
death for persons suffering from an incurable or painful disease or condition (Muckart, Gopalan,
Hardcastle, Hodgson, McQuoid Mason, 2014, p. 259). Even though the issue of proper definition of
euthanasia is still debatable, the question of classification of euthanasia seems to be less problematic.
In fact, many scholars agree that euthanasia may be classified as voluntary (because of the will), non
voluntary (without specific will), involuntary (against the will) and divided according to active (use of
lethal substances) and passive options (termination of treatment). Euthanasia differs also from assisted
suicide. The former means to help someone to die, the latter means to help a person kill him or

Critical Analysis Of The Game Of Love And Chance
The Game of Love and Chance is a play written by Pierre de Marivaux (1688 1763), who is a French
novelist and dramatist that is now considered one of the best French playwrights of the eighteenth
century. He has written over thirty plays that focus more towards romantic comedy. Marivaux was
born in Paris, France on February 4th, 1688, and deceased on February 12th, 1963 in Paris. The game
of Love and Chance (also called Le Jeu de l amour et du hasard in French), is a romantic comedy
genre, and the main subject of it is love. It was first performed on the 23rd of January 1730 at the
Comedie Italienne, where Marivaux s plays were mostly performed. Originally, in 1697, the theatre
Comedie Italienne was shut down due to offensive contents, and the companies were banished from
France. However, in 1716, the companies were permitted back to France, and from there, the
companies focused on the works of French playwrights, more specifically on Pierre de Marivaux s
plays. An important category that The Game of Love and Chance belongs to is comedy of manners,
which means a comedy that satirizes behavior in a particular social group, especially the upper classes
. The play used comedy in order to explore the political issues of class and satirized behaviors. The
play is about assumed identity, the ultimate triumph of true love, and the tyranny of social taboos. The
play also considers the social status and the importance it played in the eighteenth century courtship
and marriage.

The Tale Of The 4 Train
The tale of the 4 train depicts the story of the type of people that already live in Jerome Avenue, and
those who don t. As the 4 train keeps going uptown towards the Bronx, there are less white people and
t people of color become the majority of the subway riders. Eventually the train makes its last stop in
Manhattan when it reaches the 125th street stop, the train is then filled black and brown faces, and
there aren t any other white faces unless its game day at the Yankee Stadium. The people that are
coming from one of the richest zip codes, Wall Street, and those in between are long gone; and the
people that have endured the long train ride uptown are left to ride the train along Jerome Avenue.
This image somehow reflects the white flight that occurred decades earlier in the Bronx, as people of
color settled while white people moved out as the borough experienced urban decay. Not only did the
Bronx survive, but so did the people of color that dealt and endured the harsh realities that still lingers
in the Bronx in present day.
New York City has gone through drug epidemics, high levels of poverty, white flight and other factors
that contributed to urban decay. However, the Bronx became the national poster city for urban decay,
famously known for its arsonry that plagued the borough. The Bronx could not shake off for decades
the quote that described its suffering, when the media announced The Bronx is burning. Although the
levels of crime and drug use, and other factors

Three Things I Learned While The Plane Crashed Analysis
According to Ric Elias, in his article, Three Things I Learned while the Plane Crashed , he suffered
but survived from an air crash, and the crash made him learned three important things: he should not
postpone anything, being happy is far important than being right, and death is not scary but sad.
During the air crash, the author had thought about many things. At the moment, his goals in life,
people he wanted to contact with but did not, and things he has not achieved all came into his mind.
Then he realized that he had so many things to do, but he did not spend his time right when he had
time, and now he knew that he should use the time right but he did not have the time. He could not
postpone anything in life. When the plane passed the George Washington Bridge, he thought about
one thing that he regretted to do, and the relationship with his wife, friends, and people. Afterwards, as
he reflected on that, he decided to eliminate negative energy from his life. It s not perfect, but it s a lot
better. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the crash, he knew the most important thing in his life was to be a good father. He has got the
ability to see into the future and come back and live differently.
It all happened in just a moment, but we could see that during the moment, Elias had experienced so
much. It is surprising that so many things can come into one s mind in such a short time. Death is
really a magic thing. The moment before death could be much longer than an hour, where we could
know many things that we may not think about in other time. The three things the author learned from
the crash are valuable, which I truly agree.

Statistical Analysis On Pre-Eclampsia
Statistical analysis Statistical analysis was carried out using the software program Anova one way
unstacked. Quantitative data were presented as mean and standard deviation. Pearson correlation for
measuring covariance of two variables divided by the product of their standard deviations measures
the strength of a linear association between two variables and is denoted by r. The Receiver Operator
Characteristic (ROC) curve was used for prediction of pre eclampsia using sensitivity, specificity,
accuracy and the predictive values (positive and negative). Sensitivity: probability that the test results
will be positive when the disease is present (true positive rate, expressed as a percentage); Specificity:
Probability that the test results will be negative when the disease is present (true negative rate,
expressed as a percentage); Positive Predictive value (PPV: probability that the disease is present
when the test is positive); Negative Predictive value (NPV: probability that the disease is present when
the test is negative) and accuracy is the ratio of the true positive and true negative on all patients.

place, I have identified two specific communication needs that I use on a regular basis, with the focus
on written communication via electronic mail (E mail) system used by the organization and verbal
communication in the form of periodic one to one supervisions between my myself and my manager.

Oral, the advantages and disadvantages.
An example of a verbal communication within the work place would one to one supervisions held
between myself and my manager. Primarily, this verbal communication is to produce an effective
work plan whilst enabling feedback from both parties to be heard.
The communication process would typically begins with my manager (source) and is where the
context of the meeting is set and where encoding begins. It is important that the source uses
appropriate language during encoding and assumptions are not made about the receiver. Also
important is that messages are clear and concise so that the receiver can decode in a manner
acceptable to them. As this is a two way process it is necessary that the source displays openness with
non language to ensure effective feedback from the receiver.
An advantage of supervisions being held in this format rather that choosing written is that the both
sender and receiver are able to pick up on non language cues such as body and facial language both
which can encourage openness if used in the correct manner.
Yet disadvantages become apparent when reflecting on past supervisions, as these have historically
contained an element of emotion which can hinder the communication process.

It provides a lens that allows the clinician to understand the client s needs in a different way, depending on what theory is being acknowledged. This paper explores three theories, and how they informed projects performed within the Department of Family Services. Additionally, the strengths and limitations of each theory are also documented. While no theory fits in to every situation within the social work practice, each has a concept or quality that can improve overall practice and understanding of the client s being served. The theory is considered revolutionary due to it s life span model of human development that included eight psychosocial stages. He purposed that in each stage there is a conflict or crisis that the individual must successfully settle to continue with their development. Erikson also believed that external and internal forces had significant contributions to how successful an individual s development would be (Sokol, 2009). The theory is broad and assists in the understanding of development across the lifespan. Additionally, it takes in to consideration both social and biological factors. The theory has some criticism as well. Often labeled as vague, some feel the theory is not specific enough and is difficult to test. Furthermore, other perspectives are that the theory needs to elaborate on how culture impacts the developmental stages (Zhang, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Kohn s Main Criticisms Of The Growth Mindset Theory The growth mindset theory is the idea that by having grit, self determination and by believing you can do well in school you will in return become more successful. This like many aspects in our culture today has a large bias towards different political groups, that was something I found very interesting because this system tends to be a conservative ideology. One of my initial thoughts I had while reading this essay was the source it was coming from; Salon tends to be a more of a liberal news source so the article may be biased towards the idea of Growth Mindset. Kohn s main idea of the essay is that the Growth Mindset Theory, Kohn s main criticisms of the theory is that Students should be striving to learn and not striving to Achieve. The problem with sweeping, generic claims about the power of attitudes or beliefs isn t just a risk of overstating the benefits but also a tendency to divert ... While reading, this I could compare it to the nominee for Secretary of Education; Betsy DeVos, somebody with little to none public school experience will now be the person who now runs our public education. The authors intended audience is parents of students, by explaining and pointing out flaws of Growth Mindset, the author is trying to persuade these parents that this fad is harmful for children. Another audience that Kohn is targeting is the liberal community since Salon tends to be a more left wing news site and the views that Kohn states are more of a liberal ideology. • 6. A Brief Note On Valley Forge Military Academy College Introduction Valley Forge Military Academy College (VFMAC) is an institution that has adapted the military model in offering studies. A military model is an arrangement that an organization uses to achieve its key goals through the application of key values that are used within the military. The adopted values include culture and the lifestyle that is practiced by the military. The military is applied as the major means through which leaning is offered. Some of the ways through which the military concepts are applied include; creation of an orderly and excellent atmosphere where learning takes place. Creation of a structured system that is efficient in carrying out studies. The system also plays a significant role in the development of various policies within the organization. Within the system, students develop a high level of responsiveness in society. That is mainly because they are offered an opportunity to practice the virtues of organization and high quality leadership skills. The skills are of great significance once the learners get out of the school. That is mainly because they have been taught on the various aspects of becoming a responsible citizen (Speelman, 2010). The philosophy behind the establishment of Valley Forge Military Academy College is to ensure that there is an improvement in the lives of individuals through an integrated system and the general life of the groups. • 7. Saltwater Crocodile Research Paper The Saltwater Crocodile The saltwater crocodile is one of the largest non mammalian creatures. It also lives to about 70 years and weighs about 1200 pounds for a male, and 200 pounds for a female. The length of a male varies between 14 17 ft. While the females length is between 7.5 11 ft. All of these numbers are of averages of adult saltwater crocodiles. Now I will compare four systems of a crocodile to a human. In the circulatory system, the crocodile has a four chambered heart, as well as a double looped circulatory system. They breathe using their lungs in and under water. The saltwater crocodile can be submerged for quite a while. Up to 8 hours as the longest recording ever known. They use conservation of the oxygen and can survive in some sub temperature ponds. This occurs when the crocodile heads too far north. As for humans, we can obviously breathe using our lungs as well. Though we can not submerge and conserve oxygen as a crocodile can. It can just brutally snap bones of a once living animal, like nothing. Then, it heads south, where the crocodile uses the esophagus and heads past the trachea. It continues on its path to the stomach, where it has incredibly strong digestive acids. It needs this due to the way it devours animals. It goes to the intestines that sort out what is needed and what is not needed. Finally, to remove and dispose the waste, it leaves through the cloaca. All of the main digestive parts are the same to humans, except for the cloaca, or human anus. It is pretty similar, but the crocodile has more of a incomplete disposal. Others believe that we execute free will in every aspect of our lives. Most people, however, believe a combination of the two. It is an age old question, and like all intangible questions we try again and again to formulate an answer through books, movies, conversations, analysis of history and prediction of the future. We look at snapshots of the past or theoretical worlds and try to discern our own answers. Did the events preceding her decision cause her to make said decision? Was Katherine always going to run ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the athletes recognized it was time for women to join the sport, others had vastly different opinions. During the Boston Marathon, there is a section for photographers to take shots of the athletes. It just so happened that this was where Jock Semple tried to throw Katherine out of the race. Unluckily for him however, Katherine s boyfriend at the time, Tom Miller, an All American footballer, was running the marathon with her and tackled Jock. If she had not made the decision to date Tom Miller, she most likely would have been physically thrown out of the race and never have finished. This whole scene took place right in front of the photographers and the photo of Semple trying to throw Switzer out is now rather famous and served as huge publicity for women in sports at the time (Makers). In order for Switzer to have made as big of a splash as she did, so many smaller details had to fall into place. For starters, Katherine s father was a major in the United States Army, this set her up to lead a physically active life. Additionally she went to a school with an open and supportive cross country coach. Without that coach, it is questionable as whether she would have registered for, or even have run the marathon! Lastly, if Jock Semple had not tried to physically remove her from the race in front of the photographers, the iconic photo that changed the face of women in sports might ... • 9. The Relief and Intaglio Printmaking Process Describe the Relief Printmaking process. List an artist who uses the form of printmaking. Refer to this video for more information. The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts . There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, Hydra , I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece. But this may only be for the reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course, Lyell isn t the only artist who uses this printmaking process. Another artist who uses Relief Printmaking is Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai used the same process to create his color woodcut piece called South Wind, Clear Sky , a portrayal of Mount Fuji. • 10. Acoustic Characteristics Of Courtship And Agonistic... Why was the study Acoustic characteristics of courtship and agonistic vocalizations in Przwewalskii s horse and in domestic horse (Alberghina et al. 2015) carried out and what benefits has it brought to the research area? The study in question seeks to analyse the difference between the vocalisation of 2 species of the genus Equus in order to develop a deeper understanding of morphological factors affecting the sounds the animals make which in turn may provide data that then allows further research into evolutionary divergence. The two species are very similar but are different slightly at both a physical and genetic level. These species have different chromatic numbers yet are so closely related that they can produce fertile offspring as documented by Bennett and Hoffman (1999). Domestic horses only exist as they are due to human intervention and so the divergence of domestic horses from their wild counterparts is fairly recent in evolutionary terms. This makes the study valuable not only in adding to the limited research on Przwewalskii vocalizations but also to further evolutionary biology. Equally its findings may also set a precedent for differences in vocalisations between other closely related species as referenced to in the text are studies on different animals of which some are only very distantly related to horses, even so far as to include a reference to a study on different species clownfish (Colleye et al. 2011). • 11. The Mind And The Body The mind and the body are two different but unique essentials of an individual. Both the mind and the body play an important role in an individual s life. From making decisions by using the brain, to being able to sense all five senses from the body, both parts illustrate its importance of existence. In today s society, the mind and the body have shown a connection between how an individual regulates his or her own daily lifestyle. Although, it hasn t always been clear about how the mind and the body are connected. In fact, back in the day, individuals didn t seem to understand the importance of the mind and the body. Many philosophers, such as Descartes and Spinoza were two important contributors that illustrated the importance of the mind. Both individuals had similar thinking, however, they both still had different theories and ideas about the human mind and body. Even though science believes that the mind and the body must work together, Descartes believed that the mind and the body are two different essences that are conscious, and have their own regulations and ways of existing and can exist on their own, and lastly, both the mind and the body have their own observational patterns. Firstly, Descartes does have the right to hold that the mind and body are two completely separate things, with different essences, as he has explained this by the argument that both the mind and the body have their own conscious roles. Application of the Personality Theories Developed by Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell Personality is made up of the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a person unique. It arises from within the individual and remains fairly consistent throughout life (Cherry, 2014). My personality is influenced from my specific circumstances, my upbringing, and it is represented best through the theorists of Erik Erikson and Raymond Cattell. In specific circumstances my behavior changes, I am introverted, and quiet with new people for example. In large groups of people I stick to my friends and remain quiet. In the instance that I know a good majority of the people that I am around, I am outgoing. Generally, I don t associate with new people, and when I do am reluctant to share with them. As a result of my inability to open up to new people, I ve failed to acknowledge my feelings altogether as well. For the most part I lack a father figure within my life, but I have accepted this reality. Comparatively my brother has played the male role. My mom and I for the most part share a complex relationship, but it is a strong relationship all in all. My upbringing and circumstances are responsible for my personality. I was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Up till now I have never moved, but my brother and I grew up with two homes. My brother is only three years older than me, so we often related like peers. Interventions can include limiting noise in and around the client s room and helping the client understand noises that cannot be prevented. Stress can be reduced by staff by finding a more appropriate place in the unit away from the client for client related discussion. Decreasing or muting the noise of phones, setting alarms based on client conditions and reducing unnecessary alarms can also help to limit noise. For example, when assessing a client s blood pressure, making sure to silence the alarm when handling BP devices or invasive lines and remembering to reset them when done help reduce noise levels for the patient. It is useful to remember that pharmacological treatments given to improve delirium may themselves cause delirium or increase sedation. Almost every medication prescribed in the ICU setting can ... The two main reasons for infants being born with low birth weight is due to preterm delivery (birth before 37 weeks of pregnancy) and intrauterine growth restriction (Goldenberg Culhane, 2007). Babies that are born way earlier before their full term have lower birth weight. In the United States, about 1 in 10 babies is born premature and 7 out of 10 of these preterm babies are of low birth weight (March of Dimes, 2014). In addition, kids in school often struggle with the lack of ability to remember what they learned the year before.Year round schooling can help students with this problem. According to Grace Chen, an outstanding education researcher and writer in the article Year Round Vs Traditional Schedule in Public Schools she stated that children often lose skills in math and language art over summer break, they also have to readapt to school schedules, teachers, school expectations and homework deadlines. This shows that students go through a lot of stress to readapt to school over their long summer break and that results in the loss of concrete skills needed to succeed in school. Students would not have to relearn what they forget over the summer since they would only be out of school, for at the most, three weeks at a time. Looking at herself, she realized that she looked nothing like them. Looking back at the magazine she wondered, Is that what is desirable? Body image is how you see yourself in your head. The Truman Doctrine and Iron Curtain Speech The Truman Doctrine and Iron Curtain Speech After World War II, the USSR and United States engaged in an unprecedented conflict called the Cold War. Despite the armaments being produced, this war was not directly fought with thousands of soldiers or massive weapons. An enormous rise in tensions created a competition between the two countries for diplomatic, economic, cultural, and military dominance. Of course, nothing was official until President Harry Truman and Winston Churchill worked together to form a partnership of anti Soviet aggression. The Truman Doctrine and Iron Curtain Speech officially started the Cold War, initiated worldwide indirect fighting, and ended the United States well established policy of isolationism. The Cold War can be easily described as a battle of communism versus capitalism. When Britain announced they can no longer support Greece and Turkey, President Truman feared the domino theory would become a reality and immediately began to develop the Truman Doctrine. This policy would replace Britain as the major benefactor against the USSR s push for world communism, and ignite the rivalry between communism and capitalism in Europe. • 21. Motivation Observation How is a community formed? I have attended many churches and it can be difficult at times to be included as the rest of the congregation already has latent knowledge about each other which puts you on the outside. It can be difficult traversing the multitude of societal rules in order to become part of the community. Although the early church was encouraged to continue to meet together as, Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching (New International Version 2011, Hebrews 10:25). However, it can be difficult to make those personal and deeper connections in order for members of the church to encourage one another. Over a period of seven weeks spanning the months of August to October, I undertook an ethnographic study of the evening meal called dinner which took place before the Eventide service at St. Elphaba s of the Vale. My ethnographic research was completed using the participant observation method during a Sunday evening from 6 6.30pm. By using this specific methodology I was able to engage in all the rituals involved with participating in the meal as well as observe the interactions of my informants around me. Each week I primarily studied one specific aspect of the meal service ritual, therefore, I have decided to write one account which is a combination of all of my weeks of participant observation. The primary theories which I will be using to interpret my observations are Bronislaw Malinowski and Marcel Mauss theories of exchange, specifically concerning the Kula ring as well as Emilie Durkheim s theory of the sacred profane dichotomy. St Elphaba s is situated in the Hills district of Sydney, Australia where the median total income of an individual, excluding Government pensions and allowances, for 2015 was $53,238 which is significantly higher than the Australian average of $44,854 (The Hills Shire (A): Region Data Summary 2017). King Louis XIV and Cardinal Richelieu transformed France s feudal monarchy to an absolute monarchy. In this time of social and religious persecution, Molière created Tartuffe , a comedy dealing with hypocrisy and to a great extent, religion and how religion can be used in a negative way, to mask sin. This is shown in Act III scene 6 when Damis accuses Tartuffe of trying to seduce Elmire, Tartuffe uses reverse psychology to win Orgon over by confessing the all things awful, to an extent in which Orgon begins to sympathise with him. It is clearly shown that Tartuffe goes to the absolute extreme when he apologises to Orgon; Oui mon frère, je suis un méchant, un coupable, Un malheureux pécheur tout pleine iniquité, Les plus grand scélérat qui jamais ait été; Chaque instant de ma vie est change de souillures; Elle n est qu un amas de crimes et d ordures; Et je vois que le ciel, pour ma punition, Me veut mortifier en cette occasion. Monitoring of the streams and knowledge of its water quality is very limited. This study assessed water quality at five major tributaries and outfall to support future management decisions. Keywords. Eutrophication, nutrients, monitoring, streams, reservoir INTRODUCTION In 2014, 43% of all U.S. lakes and reservoirs were classified as impaired due to not fulfilling one or more designated uses; nutrients and agriculture were the primary factor and source causing impairments (U.S. EPA 2014). Commercial fertilizers designed to increase crop productivity can promote biological productivity in waters draining agricultural lands; fertilizers contribute nearly 57,000 tons of total nitrogen into the White River per year (Martin, 1996; Popovičová 2008). The continuous supply of nutrients to a water body can produce algal blooms, intense growth of macrophytes that can lead to dissolved oxygen depletion, and stress on aquatic environments (Dodds and Welch 2000; U.S. EPA 2002, 2012; Søndergaard et al. 2003; USGS 2013, 2014). Of course, the consequences of the industrial revolution were brutal, but for the most part there were solutions to those consequences, that changed the world for the greater good. The benefits of the industrial revolution outweigh the costs because it led to the creation of unions, and the technological innovations from the industrial revolution helped change the lifestyle of many people. The topic seems to be extremely relevant not only because it is related to the basic principles of society regarding life and death, but also it affects every person, especially who suffers from a terminal illness. This study tries to indicate possible solutions for some questions related to euthanasia in order to show that in many cases euthanasia can be avoided by adequate treatment and that proper and clearly legislation is necessary to protect patients. For the purpose of this paper, euthanasia can be defined as conduct that brings about an easy and painless death for persons suffering from an incurable or painful disease or condition (Muckart, Gopalan, Hardcastle, Hodgson, McQuoid Mason, 2014, p. 259). Even though the issue of proper definition of euthanasia is still debatable, the question of classification of euthanasia seems to be less problematic. In fact, many scholars agree that euthanasia may be classified as voluntary (because of the will), non voluntary (without specific will), involuntary (against the will) and divided according to active (use of lethal substances) and passive options (termination of treatment). It is important that the source uses appropriate language during encoding and assumptions are not made about the receiver.
