The aim of the article is to describe the significance of Communication oriented approach in the teaching process of English as a foreign language EFL and review the ways of using this method to improve students’ communicative competence and skills. The article focuses on the relevance of this approach as at present the communicative approach is popular in teaching foreign languages. The promotion of basics of communicative methodology is an urgent need for teaching practice, because it is the communicative methodology that is adequate to such a goal as teaching communication, and the communicative direction has been enriched with new research, that should become the property of the teachers. Also, the paper discusses current studies and ideas related to Communication oriented approach in order to provide a more vivid understanding of its implementation in EFL contexts. The author notes that Communication oriented approach will help to develop students’ progress in multiple skills at the same time. Also, the author puts forward the assumption that lessons based on the communication oriented approach can help to quickly master the skills of communication in the EFL compared to traditional lessons. In recent years, communicative approach is considered one of the primary methods to develop students’
speaking competence. When applying communicative approach in the classroom, information gap activities are
employed to promote students’ oral skill. These activities have brought many benefits for students in the classroom and
become good stimulations for students to boost their speaking skills. The study took place at Dong Nai Technology
University with the objectives to investigate the students’ perspectives of teachers using the information gap activities
to help students improve their speaking competence. The data were collected via survey questionnaires and semistructured interviews in sequence. Sixty students took part in the survey questionnaire to answer 14 questions on their
perception on speaking skills and information gap activities. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with 6
volunteer students to explain more deeply about their answers in the survey questionnaires to evaluate the validity of
the findings from the survey and give the answers to see whether these activities can affect students’ speaking skills in
the developed way. The findings from the study shows that information gaps activities are effectively utilized for the
development of students’ speaking skills

reading fluency skills to primary three pupils in Sokoto metropolis, Sokoto state (Nigeria). The study employed
Mixed-design research method was employed where questionnaires and tests were administered only to both
teachers and pupils of experimental group. Two research questions were asked and answered using descriptive
statistics in form of frequency and mean. Questionnaires were used for data collection – one each for the
teacher and the pupils. The study found that both the teachers and the pupils were of the view that digital
pictures are recommendable tools for reading fluency instruction in the study area. Basedon these findings, the
study concluded that digital pictures are effective tools in teaching reading fluency skills to primary three pupils
in the study area. The study, therefore, recommends that, primary school teachers should be encouraged to use
digital pictures in their reading instructions.

element in the success of the new language policy, the Mother
Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) in the
Philippines. Their views as implementer on this approach are
essential in the attainment of the MTB-MLE objectives. In this
descriptive paper, the authors report a comprehensive account of
the 35 teachers’ perception on the efficiency and effectiveness of
MTB approach in teaching at Malvar Central School, Batangas,
Philippines for the school year 2016-2017. Using adopted
questionnaire, needed data were gathered and statistically
treated. The study found out that the respondents moderately
perceived mother tongue- based approach as effective and
efficient in achieving learning goals. The implications of these
findings are discussed within the theoretical and practical issues
surrounding the use of mother tongue-based in the Philippines

English has been designated as a source of intercultural communication among the people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. A range of linguistic and cultural theories contribute meaningful insights on the development of competence in intercultural communication. The speculations suggest the use of communicative strategies focusing on the development of learners’ efficiency in communicating language through cultural context. However, the teaching of culture in communication has not been paid due importance in a number of academic and language settings of Pakistan and Iran. This assignment study indicates problems in view of teaching English as a medium of instruction in public sector colleges of interior Sindh, Pakistan and prescribed textbooks in Iranian schools. It also aims to identify drawbacks and shortcoming in prescribed textbooks for intermediate students at college level and schools. Therefore, the assignment study recommends integration of cultural awareness into a language teaching programme for an overall achievement of competence in intercultural communication.
