Essay on Legt 2741 Assignment
LEGT2741 Assignment There are three main parties to this case; Flywell Ltd (F), the parent
company, Jetover Ltd (J), the subsidiary, and the Australian Pilots Association (APA) which is
representing the 200 pilots currently employed by J. F incorporated J as a wholly owned
subsidiary of F and appointed four directors for J from the six directors of F. Two hundred of F s
pilots were made redundant and immediately rehired by J on lower wages and entitlement
previously enjoyed at F. New pilots hired by F receive 20% more pay and entitlements for the
same work than pilots of J. The issue here is that are the original contractual entitlements received
at F applicable to the pilots of J? Firstly it must be emphasised that through... Show more content on

Shortly after resigning from his employment, Horne and his wife set up a similar company to
GM. Horne solicited with GM s customers through the newly incorporated company. The Court
of Appeal (UK) stated that the new company was a mere cloak or sham used by Horne to breach
his contractual obligation. Similarly, it can be shown that F had a contractual obligation to its
employees to pay a certain wage and provide certain entitlements in return for the standard of
work provided by the pilots. The existence of legal obligation is demonstrated by F having to
request the pilots to voluntarily take a reduction in pay and the pilots refusing. Since the pilots
provide the same standard of work for J and through lifting the corporate veil, F and J are
determined to be one and thus the pilots may be entitled to their previous remuneration. Creasey
v Breachwood Motors Ltd is another example where restructuring was used to avoid a legal
obligation. Creasey was employed by Breachwood Welwyn Ltd and was also a creditor.
Breachwood Welwyn transferred all of its assets to Breachwood Motors Ltd, which they
controlled, to avoid having to repay Creasey. The court held that one of the key reasons for the
restructure was to avoid legal obligations to pay its employee legal entitlements. The corporate
veil was lifted and it was held that Breachwood Motors Ltd would be liable for the debt payable to
Creasey. This precedent further supports the application of Gildford

The Pope s Official Register
Dictatus Papae, inserted in the pope s official Register in 1075, can be considered the most
important document involved in the lay investiture controversy. The document outlines 27
statements of power under the Catholic Church, and it is the first time that a document grants the
pope power to depose an Emperor. The document most likely written, or influenced, by Pope
Gregory VII came in wake of the lay investiture controversybetween the Holy Roman Emperor
Henry IV and Pope Gregory VII. Lay investiture is when lay, or worldly, kings and emperors
invests in bishops, appointing them to bishops of the area in which they rule. It was extremely
common for the bishops that were chosen to also be the Emperor s vassal as well. In return the
bishop would encourage and help the Emperor s rule over their territory. There had hardly been
any push back from the papacy in regards to this practice (Jordan p. 85 87). The bishops would
take the sides of the emperors because most owe them for giving them their position. The height
of the controversy started when a monk named Hildebrand, who believed strongly in reforming
the papacy and the church, was swept into office. Hildebrand would take on the name Gregory
becoming Pope Gregory VII. Gregory would first forbid married priests to perform sacraments in
December 1074, then two months later, he prohibited lay investiture (Jordan p. 91). Henry IV and
most of the German bishops would denounce these papal decrees declaring that since the

Impressionism vs Post
Impressionism vs Post Impressionism
Modern culture is believed to be the brainchild of two versions of the Protestant worldview: the
northern French positivism and irrationalism. If the first is trying to discern the signs of the
afterlife in the image of reality (which is actually a reflection of the culture established meanings),
the second doubts of the possibility to view anything except for one s own feelings. Impressionists
were trying to recreate their sensory impressions with scientific precision. Analytical approach to

Post Impressionism revealed most crisis traits of the Western culture of that period, painful and
controversial artists searches for stable ideological and moral values. The period of post
impressionism is characterized by typical active mutual individual areas and individual creative
systems. And though a number of post impressionism areas (Neo Impressionism and partially
Nabi , which is the French version of modernity ) does not come out of the time frame boundaries,
creativity of its leading masters (primarily of Post Impressionists Cezanne, V. van Gogh, Gauguin,
A. de Toulouse Lautrec) with its problematic initiates multiple trends in the fine art of the 20th
century. Post Impressionism (from French postimpressionism, earlier from Latin Post meaning
after ) is the term adopted in art to denote main line of development in French art starting from the
second half of 1880s till the beginning of the 20th. The start point of Post Impressionism is
considered to be the beginning of 1886, when the last Impressionist exhibition was held and the
Manifesto of symbolism by the poet Jean MorГ©as was issued (Galenson Weinberg, 2001).

The Lottery Tradition
Our human history has been dictated by many traditions and rituals. This behavior has made us
lose our morality. The story The Lottery written by Shirley Jackson is a story about a small
town. The towns people most of them farmers lived a simple and quite life. This little town was
led by two people Mr. Graves who is the postmaster and the other is Mr. Summers who runs a coal
business. There is hidden secrets in this little town. Every year the towns people would hold a
lottery. Sounds like a good thing, but winning the lotteryonly came with misfortune. The lottery was
not monetary in nature. All towns people must partake in this event, the caveat is the winner would
be stoned. This was a tradition that has been passed down from generations of people living in this
town. Just like all traditions, the people have forgotten the significance of this lottery ritual. The
only thing they remember is that the lottery is to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People of this town were unwilling to make any change to the way the lottery was administered.
For example, Mr. Summers had suggested to the townspeople that they should use a new box
because the old one was breaking and getting old, the towns people did not want to hear such
suggestion, because this is the same box that was used by the first settlers. Could be a bad omen
if they deviated from ancestor s designs. Although the box was severely broken down, it
symbolized the death of a very unlucky person every year. Mr. Summers was very adamant
about changing the box because the town was getting too big for the current box. The towns
people finally gave in and made the change. They even allowed women to pick the lottery for her
family when in history only men could do so. This changed happened because a Mr. Dunbar had
a broken leg and could not do it for the family. His wife had to the honors, but the town people
were furious because they did not want to break

The Impact Of Illegal Immigrants On US Wages
The Impact of Illegal Immigrants on US Wages
Jessica Cotter
ECON 3231
11/20/2017
The United States of America has the highest number of immigrants in the world. The population of
both illegal and undocumented immigrants has increased drastically over the past decade.
According to the current statistics, there are 11.9 million estimated illegal immigrants living and
working in the USA. The statistics translate to five hundred thousand new entrants annually in the
last ten years. The remaining 40% of illegal immigrants arrive on temporary visas but they choose
to remain in the country after their visas expire. However, the state of the recession has temporarily
stopped the population growth of unauthorized immigrants, but entry into the US is expected to
resume after the recovery of its economy if past experience is a guide. Immigration policies and
reforms have raised political heat with President Trump threatening to deport all illegal immigrants.
However, the Democrats and Republicans never seem to agree on immigration reforms. Donald
Trump has promised to build a wall on the US Mexico border to prevent the influx of illegal
immigrants as well as curb drug and human trafficking routes. President Trump seems to be
committed to his immigration reforms based on his temporary executive order to stop immigrants
from Somalia, Yemen, and Iran among other Arab states from entering the US. There are many
economic impacts of illegal immigrants in the country.

The Moths Essay
Rebirth Through the use of Symbolism and Characterization In the short story The Moths by
Helena Maria Viramontes, the author uses symbolism and characterization to paint the scene of a
girl in a literary fiction that has lost her way and ends up finding herself within her Grandmother
through the cycles of life. Through the eyes of an unnamed girl we relive a past that has both a
traumatic ending and a new leash on life; however, we do not get there without first being shown
the way, enter The Moths . The author utilizes opposite ends of the lightspectrum to signify
beginnings and endings by painting a vivid picture for the reader: There comes a time when the sun

Since the moon is the polar opposite of the sun we can say that, in the human element of the story
there is Grandma Luna which is currently at the ending of her moon life and at the beginning of
her rebirth towards a new day as the sun , the light bulb, as a symbol of rebirth representing the
sun, appears one more time in the story, where in the wake of her Grandmothers death, the
narrator is watching the moths fluttering to light , carrying her Grandmother s soul to a place
were it can become reborn. I believe that the author s carefully chosen name of Luna for the
Grandmother was in fact to show the reader that our death is inevitable but our rebirth in terms
of happiness is changeable. Equally important in the story is the use of characterization to show
the reader exactly who the protagonist in the story is and what kind of life she is living, we first
read of her sisters and how they act in contrast to the protagonist: I [the narrator] wasn t even
pretty or nice like my older sisters and I just couldn t do the girl things they could

Food Taboos
Food Taboos Would You Eat Breast Milk Cheese? (Hamm, 2010). I have shown this headline to
multiple people and have received the same reaction from everyone. Most of these people I work
with at a daycare. We all handle and serve breast milk on a daily basis. Also we watch mothers
nurse their infants. Yet, the reaction did not surprise me, even with this comfort level with human
breast milk. This reaction falls along the line of disgust and shock. One person even reacted with a
sharp reply of I DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT! There is something about the thought of
consuming human breast milk that makes people squirm.
Human Breast Milk is touted as the perfected food for infants. There is extreme pressure placed on

Culture forms as sense of who we are in the larger community in which we exist among. This
connection shapes the rules we follow to exist to peacefully live with one another. The culture
we grow up in shapes our relationship with food. For better or worse, depending on if we accept
and live up to the cultural norms presented to us. For those who choose to not follow them will
be faced with consequences for rejecting theses norms. For me, the sub culture of my family in
the United States has had a major impact of what food taboos I hold. I was raised on a very limited
palate of food diversity and was rarely challenged to try new or unique food. This is only made
worse by having Asperger s Syndrome, which, causes sensory issues related to food. It can relate
to any of the senses related to eating or cooking. As a result, I do not enjoy eating as a general
rule and do not derive pleasure from it. The reason why this is true: is that I am very picky and
eating is challenging for me.
This taboo can affect me socially. Our society in the United States, places

acceptable use cases and necessary compensating controls before allowing them to be used for

All this makes it easier for them to keep their costs down and scale to meet changing customer
demands, but it also makes it harder to assess the risk to your organization from using such a
service. Organizations potentially can gain a competitive or cost advantage through selective
adoption of cloud computing, but not without first taking a comprehensive look at the associated
risks, ensuring that they are consistent with business goals, along with the expectations of
regulators, auditors, shareholders and partners. It is especially challenging to understand the risks
associated with cloud computing, and CIOs, chief information security officers, compliance and
privacy officers, and line of business managers should be involved in the risk assessment of new
cloud based services. If a company is considering the use of an external service of any sort, then
it needs to: Assess the security, privacy and regulatory compliance risks Identify use cases that are
inappropriate for this service delivery method, based on risk level and current controls Identify use
cases that pose an acceptable level of risk for the service delivery method Choose and implement
compensating controls before going fully operational

The Importance Of Technology In Technology
Technology advancement is prompting our lives, our economy and different countries and change
in technology is influencing business, government and every individual. Many MNCs and main

technology and many companies are taking country base for staring operation due to some good
positive factors like legislation, geography and, allowing knowledge transfer and growing general

Tobacco and alcohol consumption has been linked to a variety of medical problems. In the
United States alone, over 440,000 people die annually from smoking tobacco (Tobacco Products.)
By making the cost of unhealthy behavior prohibitive, we hope to produce a healthier society. Sin
tax is used for taxes on activities that are considered socially undesirable. Common targets of
sumptuary taxes are alcohol and tobacco, and gambling. I believe that Drinking and smoking are
not sins, but if the effects of using them in excess have caused other Americans to pay more for
medical care, I think we should impose higher taxes on them as to discourage their use. In

Percentage wise, wine buyers would be affected the most, with a 233 percent tax increase per bottle.
The higher alcohol taxes would bring in nearly $60 billion over 10 years, and, like the increase in
price of cigarettes, could deter people from purchasing alcohol as often. (Promises Treatment
Centers.) It is uncommon to feel oppressed when one s surroundings does not protect his health
against unhealthy habits. Such a scenario is seen when people smoke in closed public areas which
results in health consequences for others. The same is observed with regards to alcohol where
incidences of physical harassment and accidents have been acknowledged. It is unethical and
greedy for one to think about himself and his rights, forgetting his duties towards others in the
society. For those who claim that this is a free country and people have the right to do whatever
they want, the government interferes and prohibits these actions when these actions negatively
affects others. Raising sin taxes on tobacco and alcohol will result in three different problems such
as business s disagreements and objections toward governmental taxation, unaffordability for the
poor, and the increase of the unemployment rate. Earlier in history year 1789, the taxes were
imposed on whisky producers rather than on people buying them. The federal government faced
difficulties enforcing such a rule. George Washington took notice of such a resistance to the whisky

Initially Merkel was against giving bailouts. Thus with the Greco European crisis being the
forefront, Merkel pushed for greater private sector investors to absorb some of the rescue burden.
She saw to it that European Union bureaucrats went to Athens where they quietly insisted on simple
but important things like shortened vacations for the civil servants, higher taxes on swimming

The Patriot ( 2000 )
The Patriot (2000) follows Benjamin Martin (Francis Marion) a widower with 7 children and
veteran of the French and Indian war. He is reluctant to join the fight against the British until
Colonel William Tavington (Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton) kills Benjamin s son and burns down
his house in South Carolina. Benjamin Martin leads his militia and attacks against the British with
guerilla warfare until the climax battle, where he takes revenge for his son and kills Colonel
William. What is wrong with The Patriot? It may have gotten the big picture, which was that the
British taxed the colonists unfairly and the colonists took action by forming a militia to win the war
through guerilla warfare, but that s one of the few things that are historically accurate about the
film. Important things that are historically accurate are the ambushes that Benjamin Gates took part
in. Attacking head to head was not an option because the British soldiers were obviously more
powerful so the militia used surprise attacks and ambushes to beat the British. Also the character
Colonel William Tavington, who was based off of the British soldier Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton
,
was probably the most hated officer in the British army. His tactics were cowardly and evil
because he would shoot the enemy after they surrendered. The film did a great job at showing how
menacing Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton really was. Nevertheless, the film was mostly inaccurate
and could be considered an American version

Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo has a lot of hidden meaning in the story. Most people can interpret stories in
different ways than others, especially children. I interpret that, in Finding Nemo, Marlin not
only wants what is best for Nemo, but what is best for the both of them. Don t be stubborn and
not listen to your parents because they always know what s best for you. I think Marlin s
definition of what s best for them is a little different than most. He wants to rebuild their colony
by repopulating. As a child I viewed this as just a regular movie, like every child would. No kid
is going to know the reproductive process of clown fish. I used to think that it was about
friendship between Nemo and Dory, and that if you re in times of need, there will always be a
friend that will help you, no matter where you are. It was my favorite movie due to these reasons: it
made me happy that Nemo wasn t going through it alone. Everyone views things differently.
Most people interpret Finding Nemo in a whole entirely different way. It is meant to be portrayed
as expressing the type of things a father would go through to save his son. The theme of this
movie is to not be stubborn and listen because your parents always know what s best for you. Most
people would picture it this way, but there is an entirely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

more immensely than just his son because, well, they have to reproduce together, and Nemo is his

Research Paper On Teenagers And Alcohol
Teenagers and Alcohol Research Paper Everyday is a new beginning full of opportunities which
entail decision making. Now, there is a multitude of choices that can be made, some smart, some
quick, and the list goes on. However, when the question comes up about teens and drinking, the
answers should always be smart this is just not the case in most instances. Alcohol comes with
consequences, regardless of age. The impact on lives is almost always negative, with the ability
to ruin lives within just a few drinks. Teenagers and Alcohol are not supposed to be mixed for
numerous reasons such as the detrimental impact on the young mind and body, lessened self
control, and lowered academic performance. The question that is frequently asked among teens
who feel as if they want to experiment with alcohol is whether or not a safe form of alcohol
exists. Contrary to popular belief in teen culture, no, there is not a ВЁsafeВЁ form of alcohol.

Contrary to this, I also believe that the social stigma for those who choose not to drink has
definitely improved from the time my older siblings were in school. At a party or other event, if a
teen decides to not drink, they are not ostracized and instead respected for their decision and
honesty. However, this behavior could definitely be more widespread, but it has to start

Is Adhd over-Diagnosed Among School Children
Is ADHD Over diagnosed Among School Children?
After reading the review, (Is ADHD over diagnosed among school children?) by C. Collins, I am
in agreement with T. E. Elder in that yes, ADHD is over diagnosed.
I chose to accompany the review by C. Collins with the article, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity
Disorder, which originated from the Facts on File; Issues and Controversies Database. After
reading both the review and the article I highly believe that ADHD is definitely over diagnosed.
In the article, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, the disorder is defined, as well as the
current treatment for the disorder which tends to be the drug Ritalin. While there are many other
drugs available for treatment, Ritalin is the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents and teachers have given up on these children and they have been the ones who drop out of
school or end up in prison. It is thought that by diagnosing ADHD early and treating it properly,
children who might not have had a chance to succeed can now be successful. The advocates for
diagnosis of ADHD also point out that the treatment of ADHD with prescription drugs is actually
very small and only one out of every three children diagnosed with ADHD is actually treated with
prescription drugs (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, para. 45).
The article concludes by stating that although most experts have varying ideas and on ADHD they
are all in agreement that the disorder needs more research.
As I stated previously, I do believe ADHD is over diagnosed; however, I am in total
disagreement with the critics who believe the disorder doesn t exist at all. Their claim that in the
past it was acceptable and expected of children to be hyperactive and rowdy just doesn t hold
water for me. In the past we did not have the knowledge that we do now and as a result children
were not diagnosed and either struggled to succeed in school and life or didn t succeed at all.
I am in agreement that many parents, teachers and some experts use the diagnosis of ADHD as an
easy answer and way to deal with difficult children. I feel that T. E. Elder also makes a very
significant point that the age and maturity of children entering kindergarten also

Major Lifestyles Of The Northern And Southern Colonies
Major Lifestyles Distinctions in the Northern and Southern Colonies
In the early history of the United States, 13 colonies were founded by English settlers. The main
reasons European colonist came to America were, looking for freedom of religion or seeking
economic opportunity. The first colony funded was Virginia in 1607, and the last was Georgia in
1733. Each colony was founded for a unique reason, but were all very similar. However, what
begins with small a population, become in a short time a large, a diverse and complex society.
Consequently, obvious differences emerged between the Northern and Southern colonies. Four of
these major distinctions were economy, religion, education and slavery.

Anglicans, diverse religions such as, Presbyterians, Catholics, Lutherans, and Baptists were widely
practiced in the region.
EDUCATION:
In the New England, public education was available. For the Puritans, read and write was very
important, otherwise they would not be able read the Bible. For this reason, each community had
one teacher. However, educations was available more for male boys than for female girls. Later on,
education becomes spreads in the Northern colonies.
In the south, due to the distances between farms, public school were very difficult to access. Then,
children were educated at home by either one, private tutors or parents. Once again, boys were
educated to become successful businessmen, while girls were educated to get enough social skill to
attract a husband and run a household.
In either one, Northern and Southern colonies, education was forbidden for slaves and their

Catcher In The Rye Character Analysis
The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger is about a boy named Holden Caulfield who got kicked
out of Pencey Prep, a private school for boys. Throughout the story Holden shows his dislike for
society because he believes that it corrupts the innocent. Some people might say that Holden
doesnВґt understand that as an adult, most innocent people stay innocent and he is just
judgemental of all the people around him. Salinger suggests that in order to transition to the adult
world properly, an individual must understand that we change and most become corrupt. Holden
achieves this understanding to the extent that he tries to save the innocent people and rejects the
corrupt, although in the end he learns to let them free even if they become corrupt.... Show more

In his mind, his brother was totally innocent and could do no wrong. Typically when someone
dies, their relatives try to remember only the good parts of their relationship and life. Holden
doesn t seem to understand that Allie and Jane don t stay innocent as they approach adulthood.
Not everyone is perfect, but he regards them as so wanting them to stay that way. In another
way, Holden is calling everyone that is insincere that are more interested in playing a part than
being themselves a phony. It starts with Ossenburger, a man who donated money to the school
and had a wing named after him. He showed up to a football game in his Cadillac and Holden
could just see the big phony bastard shifting into first gear and asking Jesus to send him a few
more stiffs. (20) As he is talking about this man he keeps judging him for flaunting his money in
other s faces. He drives a Cadillac and gives big speeches but says that he s just a normal guy like
the rest of them. Typically, when a person has more money than other they flaunt it as much as
they can. As he is talking about the school and about how they have been molding boys into men
since 1888 he mentions that even the principal s daughter knew what a phony slob be was. (5) He
says that the school is nothing like they advertise and that they don t do any molding. The principal
is the head of this institution, which is why he

The Federal Definition Of Foster Care
Donella H. Meadows defines a system as a set of elements or parts that is coherently organized
and interconnected in a pattern or structure that produces a characteristic set of behaviors
(Meadows, 2014, p. 188). The federal definition of foster care is a 24 hour substitute care for
children placed away from their parents or guardians and for whom the State agency has placement
and care responsibility (Johnson, 2004). Therapeutic foster careis a subsystem of the suprasystem
which is foster care. The Quality Foster Care Services Act defines therapeutic foster care as foster
care which is highly effective in placing children with serious medical, psychological, emotional,
and social needs into a home in which foster parents are specially trained to address the needs and
challenges of the children (U.S. Senators Baldwin and Portman Lead Effort to Improve Foster Care
Services for America s Most Vulnerable Youth, 2014).
Goals, elements, and concepts
Goal of the system
Many systems are goal oriented. They interact with the environment in order to achieve a
specific goal or target. The primary goal of placing a child in the TFC agency with medically
fragile children is to meet the medical and mental health needs present (Youth, 2014). Additionally,
a sense of permanency is the end goal for all children in the suprasystem of foster care. This would
come by way of returning the child back to their original home with their parents or guardians or
having the child adopted by

An Experiment for Staying Healthy with the Food We Eat
Introduction The issue of health, and proper eating habits has been a growing trend in recent
years, with the introduction of many chemicals and additives in the foods people eat. It is
important to know what nutrients and vitamins are being put inside the body. As of December
12, 2007 it is mandatory for all prepackaged foods in Canada to be labeled with the Nutrition
Facts, a summary of what is in the food. This includes the Calorie count, the 13 core nutrients
with the % Daily value of those nutrients and, the full ingredients list. Similarly, this lab seeks to
identify the major macromolecules present in an unknown solution, the same process that food
scientist go through in the lab, when making the Nutrition Facts summary. The four main
molecules that we will be testing for are monosaccharides, starches, proteins and lipids. It is
because the purpose of the lab is to test for multiple macromolecules that the inquiry and testing
process will be split into four independent tests for the presence of each respective molecule.

Portfolio Project – Norma Rae Essay
They are free to exploit you, to lie to you, to cheat you and to take away from you what is
rightfully yours your health, a decent wage, a fit place to work (Asseyev, Rose, Ritt, 1979). In the
movie Norma Rae, union organizer Reuben Warshovsky, delivered this powerful speech to
workers at the O.P. Henley textile mill. He warned them that without union representation they
would continue to be taken advantage of by management. The movie, set in 1978, showed textile
workers in a small, southern town who were forced to work long hours for a measly wage in
deplorable and unsafe conditions. These workers were characteristically poorly educated and
largely unskilled (Leiter, 1986, p. 951). The management was neglectful of and apathetic to... Show

The on site mill doctor insensitively diagnosed the mother s problem as an expected side effect
of working at the mill. To this Norma Rae angrily declared to her mother, They don t care
anything about you (Asseyev, Rose, Ritt, 1979). Furthermore, Norma Rae s overworked father,
who was paid only $1.33 per hour, keeled over and died after being denied a break by his
supervisor when he was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack. Textile workers were oppressed
and dissatisfied, but had no voice in the mill. When workers become increasingly dissatisfied with
their present employment, they may seek to improve their workplace by forming a union instead of
leaving the position (Fossum, 2012, p. 7). Fossum (2012) suggests that dissatisfaction alone does
not mean that unionization will occur. Employees must also feel that they are unable to influence
change on their own and believe that collective bargaining would enhance workplace conditions
(Fossum, 2012). In the textile workers case, the mill was their livelihood. Unionization would be
their only chance to improve their quality of life. By gaining union representation, workers hope to
present a unified voice to management to negotiate acceptable workplace provisions. Unions give
workers a voice in decisions that affect them (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, 2007, p. 467). In
the movie, Reuben stressed to the mill workers that by joining the

Limited Liability
Discussion Assignment
You own and operate a small store. Currently, you are a single proprietor.
What kinds of risks and liabilities are you facing?
When a business is run as a single proprietor means that the owner is solely responsible and liable
for the actions of the company. The risk and the liability are that the personal assets such as
house, car, land, or bank savings are also part of the business. There is no legal separation of the
assets between the business and the owner of the business. For example, if the single proprietor
defaults on a bank loan or there is an accident on one of the employees, the owner is the sole
responsible. The bank can seize and liquidate the personal assets for the debts. In addition, the
employee who suffered injury for in a work related accident can sue and held the owner liable. The
sole proprietor risks all the personal assets if there is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this risk can be addressed by incorporating the business. There are various options of
incorporation depending on the type of business and goals. The most common are the Limited
Liability Company (LLC), Limited Partnership (LP), Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), or
Nonprofit Corporation.
When the sole proprietor incorporates, it gives advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is
that the owner can sales shares to investors and raise capital. Moreover, with an incorporated
business the owner and the employees can benefit from health insurance, workers compensation,
insurance against accidents, etc. Another advantage of incorporating the business is that it
guarantees the safety of the personal assets. For example, if there is an accident or the business
defaults on the bank loan, only the business will be liable. The personal assets such as your house
or car will not be

Mary Slessor s story has been told countless times for her bravery and dedication to the call of
the Lord. However, despite the fame that she had acquired, she held on her to humility and gave
glory to the Lord instead. She said, Blessed the man and woman who is able to serve cheerfully in

she gave herself and glory. Mary exhibited this type of humility throughout her mission work in

Mary Slessor exhibited determination like no other. While in Calabar, she felt the Lord leading her
to a nearby tribe, otherwise known as the Okoyong people, who was specially noted for its
lawless heathenism (Livingstone 46). The tribe consistently denied her request to come see
them and were adamant that they did not want any missionaries. Despite this discouragement,
she set out on her own in a canoe down the Calabar River, so that she could minister to the
people. When she decided she wanted to make a home among this tribe, the people of her
previous village told her she would surely be killed. However, she preserved knowing that Lord s
purpose for her involved the Okoyong people. It was in this village that she cared for the
children, began to teach them how to read and write, shared community with the women, and
planted the first ever Okoyong church. Beyond her determination, she maintained a courageous
attitude among this people group. During her time there, the son of the chief of the tribe had
died from an accident caused by a log. Because of this, the chief sentenced all the people who
were around to death. Instead of being fearful for her own life, Mary fought for the lives of these
people against the drunken mob. She devised a plan to help the prisoners escape and trusted in the
Lord to help her execute her plan without using force. After demonstrating such valor, she managed

To what extent is there hope at the end of Lord of the Flies ?
There is an imbalance in ending of Lord of the Flies , there are more indications of no hope of
rescue than there are of hope. Before the Second World War, Golding believed that humans can
be perfected. He thought that society plays a big role in the nature of humans and by perfecting
society, evil can be eradicated. However, after the war, he realised the human potential for
destruction. Not simply killing one another, by exterminating large groups based on their race and
beliefs. This was intentional and was carried out by skilled professionals. His intention was to

It is ironic that the naval officer is meant to represent civilization and society but actually
represents the evil present in civilization just like the boys themselves. He is a soldier who fights
in wars and kills soldiers in the opposing armies.
The first image of Jack and his group is presented as something dark and a creature before
Golding goes on to explain the creature was a party of boys . The beast turns out to be the evil
within the children themselves. Jack conflicts with most of the other major characters from the
beginning. He calls Piggy Fatty on several occasions and opposes Ralph almost every step of the

Social Community Within A Sixth Grade Classroom
Introduction As an educator, I always believe that the classroom is the epitome of a social
community in which culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse students function, learn, and
succeed through collaborations with their classmates and me. In order for my pedagogical efforts to
be effective, a learning community should be established, administered, and maintained because
students will not learn or respond to my motivational attempts if they feel insecure, disconnected, or
negative. The concept I am interested in is the establishment of an interactive and connective
learning community within a sixth grade classroom. Because certain needs must be fulfilled before
teaching and pedagogical strategies become effective, lower level needs should be satisfied before
higher level needs can be functional and operative. Not only can the satisfaction and motivation of
students be affected by the very nature of learning and the outcomes they expect to gain, but also by
the learning environment they situate and their relationships with peers, and most specifically, their
feelings and perceptions about me. Therefore, constructing an optimal social and learning
community is absolutely indispensable to my class and the formation of emotional bonds between
my students and me. A learning community serves as a reminder for educators that students come
to class to acquire enriching and empowering dispositions, knowledge, skills, and values, which go
beyond merely performing tasks and

Gangs Of El Salvador Analysis
Gangs of El Salvador
In the documentary, Gangs of El Salvador by Vice News, the viewer gets an insider s perspective

the notorious MS 13 and 18th street gang. This documentary was made to inform people that there

Furthermore, I will discuss the Gangs of El Salvador, current issues regarding gangs, and how the
country of El Salvador is combating the gang issue.
According to the United States Federal Government and the Department of Justice, the definition of
a gang is an association of three or more individuals, whose members collectively identify
themselves by adopting a group identity. In addition, it then describes the ways that gangs can
identify themselves by tattoos, hand signs, a common name, slogan, and graffiti. On the other hand,
the definition then goes into saying that the group s focus is to implement fear, engage in criminal
activity, and intimidate others. If we look into the history of MS 13 and 18th street gang, we can
see that the refugees had a tough time assimilating into the American culture in the 1980s when

Plato s Allegory Of The Cave And The Matrix By The Wachowskis
Plato once said that, Ignorance [is] the root and stem of all evil . Ignorance is the cause of
everything that is wrong and bad in the world since people are unable to see the truth. If people
start breaking free from ignorance, mankind will become happier and more transparent. In the short

hooves of a horse are ever off the ground at the same time. To get to the bottom of this argument,
Stanford hired Eadweard Muybridge, a British born entrepreneur and renowned photographer to
set up a row of cameras along a racetrack and capture the stages of the horses gallop with timed
exposures. (Lewis 8) This technique, known as the battery of camera technique, brought
photography leaps and bonds closer to cinema. After proving that all four hooves of a horse are
indeed off the ground at the same time, Muybridge took his series photographs on the road where
he not only exhibited his work but also talked about the technology that produced it. It was at one of
these shows that Thomas Edison met with Muybridge and became interested in producing a more
sophisticated simulation of movement on film than Muybridge s series photographs could ever
have produced... He had plans to develop a system that might sync serial images with recorded
sound played back on the Edison phonograph . (Lewis 9). After meeting with Muybridge, Edison
enlisted photographer William Kennedy Laurie Dickson to help him take technology one step
further and create a camera that could take a sequence of pictures with a single load

Violent Video Games Essay
The Case for Violent Video Games Video Games have been a source of fun and enjoyment for
many people, whether they are kids or adults. Violent video games are the most popular types of
video games. Many young gamers are quite obsessed over these games. Recently violent video
games (VVGs) have been accused of being the source to many mass shootings in the world,
accused of corrupting the minds of young gamers. This is wrong. Violent Behavior in Video
Games Violent video games are blamed for being linked to levels of aggression. Many people
believe VVGs raise levels of aggression; however, studies show that belief is false. Although
VVGs have violent content, it does not coincide with the levels of aggression being increased.
Ratings for VVGs have regressed from their original state of maturity, meaning younger kids can
play these games. If young children are approved to play VVGs then there must be reasons.
Adults want their children to be social and make friends and video games can help them do that.
According to Jack Hollingdale, playing cooperative team player video games increases empathy
and decreases aggression (Hollingdale, 2014). Aggression levels are not the only factors thought
to be linked to VVGs, hostility levels are another topic for arguing. To help prove that video games
do not make young gamers want to hurt others a study was done. This study consisted of 43 young
adults from ages 12 18, most of the youth were Caucasian American males. The

Greatest Generations, Tom Brokaw
The book The Greatest Generation , by Tom Brokaw, is about the men and women who were born
in the 1920 s and how they are what he deems to be the greatest generation thus far. He believes this
generation is so tremendous because of the fact they did not demand respect for what they did and
went through. Though may sacrificed as much as their lives, they do not think higher of
themselves. Even through all their struggling they managed to have enough strength leave
everything behind and fight for their country. I believe Tom Brokaw is correct when he says they
are there greatest generation. People then would support the war and the men who fought in it,
whereas nowadays there are just as many people against war, fighting, and the men and... Show

She quickly rose in the ranks, and was brought to the national headquarters as an organizer. She
learned how to better fight for women s rights and helped enormously. Many of her male friends
thought it was not a women s place to be. Haener said By the time the war ended, I was too
independent to get married. Later she became involved in NOW , the National Organization for
Women. Dorothy got involved because she had felt cheated, and because of her work women
like her niece have maternity leave and child care benefits. After retiring she still helped out by
volunteering and walking picket lines in Detroit. Bob Bush although not very well known, is a
great American hero, awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. When Bush was young, he
lived under the hospital with his mom, barley making any money. As a teenager he started
selling cold drinks to the men who were working in the hot ships during the day. But in 1943 he
decided helping with the war was more important than school so he dropped out and enlisted in
the Navy medical corps. Not even one year later he was loaded on an assault vehicle heading for
Okinawa. On May 2, 1945 he was with a rifle company of Marines on the attack over a ridge
against a heavily fortified Japanese positions. He was scrambling to help wounded soldiers all

Loyalty In Beowulf
Literature in a certain time period can reflect the ideals and values of the people who existed
during the time period. values such as loyalty, heroism, and paganism conflicted with Christianity.
Many of these deals from the Anglo Saxon period can easily be compared to the situations in the
epic poem Beowulf
Uniquely, loyalty is a highly valued ideal in the Anglo Saxon period. In Beowulf, loyalty is
shown in the kingdom that Beowulf helps. Along with the fact that the village would celebrate
often. This vividly paints a picture of how even though the Anglo Saxons are barbaric they value
the family unit, tribal loyalty, and the kingdom as a whole. In the poem Beowulf it states all of
Beowulf s band had jumped from their beds, ancestral swords raised and read and determined
(Burton Raffel 31). This expresses that a large band of people were loyal to Beowulf when they
rushed over to join the cause. This contributes that love and loyalty in the kingdom. Notable this
reflects how loyalty was valued to the Anglo Saxons.
Comparatively, heroism is another valued ideal in the Anglo Saxon period. Heroism can be shown
in Beowulf because of the themes of courage and skill in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many of the pagan ideas stayed and both are depicted in the poem. Omens are something pagan that
the poem mentions. The omens were good and they urged the adventure on. So Beowulf chose the
mightiest men he could find. Omens are general something more associated with a pagan religion.
This is one aspect of the poem where the values of paganism shine through. On the other hand,
Christianity is also themed in the poem. For example the quote The almighty making the earth and
shaping these beautiful plains marked off by oceans. Then proudly setting the sun and the moon.
The almighty refers to god in the Christian religion. The rest of the quote describes slightly a

Bert Cates Inherit The Wind
The play Inherit The Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee is set in a small town not too
long ago when it was illegal to teach evolution in schools. It could be tomorrow or it may just
have been yesterday. The play accounts a popular Scopes Monkey Trial that took place in Dayton,
Tennessee in 1925. A few characters are related to colorful figures in the battle of giants. The
greatest reporters and historians of the century wrote millions of words about the Monkey Trial.
Bert Cates was the character in the play who was put on trial for teaching about evolution. There
were people who were true about themselves while there were people who were biased in what they
believed. Cates and Drummond are the characters who are most truthful and vocal about their
beliefs and stay true to themselves throughout the book.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

it. No, sir. I m not gonna quit (Lawrence Lee 52). When Rachel and Drummond keep trying to
provoke Cates to quit, but he stays true to himself, and . hHe is determined and honest not to

to prison (Lawrence Lee). Drummond wants to know what Cates feel is going to be the outcome
of the trial. Cates says that he will continue to oppose the law, as it is unjust. In Inherit The Windit

The kernel maintains a list of free pages for each zone. Each zone has its own page allocator that
allocates and frees memory as needed. Mac OS X is a little different as compared to the older
MAC OS virtual memory. Similar to Windows OS, when Mac OS X needs memory it pushes
something currently not needed into a swap file for temporary storage (OSX Daily, 2010). The
swap file concept is also known as virtual memory. Mac OS X, because it is built on the UNIX
core, relies heavily on swap files and paging for general memory and cache management. Virtual
memory, also known as secondary memory or secondary storage, typically refers to hard disk
storage and is much slower than main memory. Advantages of virtual memory include; running
more than one application at a time, the ability to run larger programs with less RAM,
applications may launch faster because of file mapping, and the user does not have to buy more
main memory (RAM). Disadvantages of virtual memory include; applications run slower than if
loaded into main memory, increased time to switch between applications, less hard drive space
for the users use, and some may argue reduced system stability is inherent to virtual memory.
Linux s virtual memory system is responsible for the memory visible to each process. The
memory system creates virtual memory on demand and swaps pages in and out of main memory
to the disk as needed. Virtual memory is divided into regions called backing. Backing is

  • 2. Essay on Legt 2741 Assignment LEGT2741 Assignment There are three main parties to this case; Flywell Ltd (F), the parent company, Jetover Ltd (J), the subsidiary, and the Australian Pilots Association (APA) which is representing the 200 pilots currently employed by J. F incorporated J as a wholly owned subsidiary of F and appointed four directors for J from the six directors of F. Two hundred of F s pilots were made redundant and immediately rehired by J on lower wages and entitlement previously enjoyed at F. New pilots hired by F receive 20% more pay and entitlements for the same work than pilots of J. The issue here is that are the original contractual entitlements received at F applicable to the pilots of J? Firstly it must be emphasised that through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shortly after resigning from his employment, Horne and his wife set up a similar company to GM. Horne solicited with GM s customers through the newly incorporated company. The Court of Appeal (UK) stated that the new company was a mere cloak or sham used by Horne to breach his contractual obligation. Similarly, it can be shown that F had a contractual obligation to its employees to pay a certain wage and provide certain entitlements in return for the standard of work provided by the pilots. The existence of legal obligation is demonstrated by F having to request the pilots to voluntarily take a reduction in pay and the pilots refusing. Since the pilots provide the same standard of work for J and through lifting the corporate veil, F and J are determined to be one and thus the pilots may be entitled to their previous remuneration. Creasey v Breachwood Motors Ltd is another example where restructuring was used to avoid a legal obligation. Creasey was employed by Breachwood Welwyn Ltd and was also a creditor. Breachwood Welwyn transferred all of its assets to Breachwood Motors Ltd, which they controlled, to avoid having to repay Creasey. The court held that one of the key reasons for the restructure was to avoid legal obligations to pay its employee legal entitlements. The corporate veil was lifted and it was held that Breachwood Motors Ltd would be liable for the debt payable to Creasey. This precedent further supports the application of Gildford ... • 3. The Pope s Official Register Dictatus Papae, inserted in the pope s official Register in 1075, can be considered the most important document involved in the lay investiture controversy. The document outlines 27 statements of power under the Catholic Church, and it is the first time that a document grants the pope power to depose an Emperor. The document most likely written, or influenced, by Pope Gregory VII came in wake of the lay investiture controversybetween the Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV and Pope Gregory VII. Lay investiture is when lay, or worldly, kings and emperors invests in bishops, appointing them to bishops of the area in which they rule. It was extremely common for the bishops that were chosen to also be the Emperor s vassal as well. In return the bishop would encourage and help the Emperor s rule over their territory. There had hardly been any push back from the papacy in regards to this practice (Jordan p. 85 87). The bishops would take the sides of the emperors because most owe them for giving them their position. The height of the controversy started when a monk named Hildebrand, who believed strongly in reforming the papacy and the church, was swept into office. Hildebrand would take on the name Gregory becoming Pope Gregory VII. Gregory would first forbid married priests to perform sacraments in December 1074, then two months later, he prohibited lay investiture (Jordan p. 91). Henry IV and most of the German bishops would denounce these papal decrees declaring that since the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Impressionism vs Post Impressionism vs Post Impressionism Modern culture is believed to be the brainchild of two versions of the Protestant worldview: the northern French positivism and irrationalism. If the first is trying to discern the signs of the afterlife in the image of reality (which is actually a reflection of the culture established meanings), the second doubts of the possibility to view anything except for one s own feelings. The story The Lottery written by Shirley Jackson is a story about a small town. The towns people most of them farmers lived a simple and quite life. This little town was led by two people Mr. Graves who is the postmaster and the other is Mr. Summers who runs a coal business. There is hidden secrets in this little town. Every year the towns people would hold a lottery. Sounds like a good thing, but winning the lotteryonly came with misfortune. The lottery was not monetary in nature. All towns people must partake in this event, the caveat is the winner would be stoned. This was a tradition that has been passed down from generations of people living in this town. Could be a bad omen if they deviated from ancestor s designs. Although the box was severely broken down, it symbolized the death of a very unlucky person every year. Mr. Summers was very adamant about changing the box because the town was getting too big for the current box. The towns people finally gave in and made the change. They even allowed women to pick the lottery for her family when in history only men could do so. This changed happened because a Mr. Dunbar had a broken leg and could not do it for the family. The Impact Of Illegal Immigrants On US Wages The Impact of Illegal Immigrants on US Wages Jessica Cotter ECON 3231 11/20/2017 The United States of America has the highest number of immigrants in the world. The population of both illegal and undocumented immigrants has increased drastically over the past decade. According to the current statistics, there are 11.9 million estimated illegal immigrants living and working in the USA. The statistics translate to five hundred thousand new entrants annually in the last ten years. The remaining 40% of illegal immigrants arrive on temporary visas but they choose to remain in the country after their visas expire. However, the state of the recession has temporarily stopped the population growth of unauthorized immigrants, but entry into the US is expected to resume after the recovery of its economy if past experience is a guide. Immigration policies and reforms have raised political heat with President Trump threatening to deport all illegal immigrants. However, the Democrats and Republicans never seem to agree on immigration reforms. Donald Trump has promised to build a wall on the US Mexico border to prevent the influx of illegal immigrants as well as curb drug and human trafficking routes. President Trump seems to be committed to his immigration reforms based on his temporary executive order to stop immigrants from Somalia, Yemen, and Iran among other Arab states from entering the US. There are many economic impacts of illegal immigrants in the country. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Moths Essay Rebirth Through the use of Symbolism and Characterization In the short story The Moths by Helena Maria Viramontes, the author uses symbolism and characterization to paint the scene of a girl in a literary fiction that has lost her way and ends up finding herself within her Grandmother through the cycles of life. Through the eyes of an unnamed girl we relive a past that has both a traumatic ending and a new leash on life; however, we do not get there without first being shown the way, enter The Moths . I believe that the author s carefully chosen name of Luna for the Grandmother was in fact to show the reader that our death is inevitable but our rebirth in terms of happiness is changeable. Equally important in the story is the use of characterization to show the reader exactly who the protagonist in the story is and what kind of life she is living, we first read of her sisters and how they act in contrast to the protagonist: I [the narrator] wasn t even pretty or nice like my older sisters and I just couldn t do the girl things they could ... Sin tax is used for taxes on activities that are considered socially undesirable. Common targets of sumptuary taxes are alcohol and tobacco, and gambling. He is reluctant to join the fight against the British until Colonel William Tavington (Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton) kills Benjamin s son and burns down his house in South Carolina. Benjamin Martin leads his militia and attacks against the British with guerilla warfare until the climax battle, where he takes revenge for his son and kills Colonel William. What is wrong with The Patriot? It may have gotten the big picture, which was that the British taxed the colonists unfairly and the colonists took action by forming a militia to win the war through guerilla warfare, but that s one of the few things that are historically accurate about the film. Important things that are historically accurate are the ambushes that Benjamin Gates took part in. Attacking head to head was not an option because the British soldiers were obviously more powerful so the militia used surprise attacks and ambushes to beat the British. Also the character Colonel William Tavington, who was based off of the British soldier Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton , was probably the most hated officer in the British army. I interpret that, in Finding Nemo, Marlin not only wants what is best for Nemo, but what is best for the both of them. Don t be stubborn and not listen to your parents because they always know what s best for you. I think Marlin s definition of what s best for them is a little different than most. He wants to rebuild their colony by repopulating. As a child I viewed this as just a regular movie, like every child would. No kid is going to know the reproductive process of clown fish. I used to think that it was about friendship between Nemo and Dory, and that if you re in times of need, there will always be a friend that will help you, no matter where you are. It was my favorite movie due to these reasons: it made me happy that Nemo wasn t going through it alone. Everyone views things differently. Most people interpret Finding Nemo in a whole entirely different way. It is meant to be portrayed as expressing the type of things a father would go through to save his son. Now, there is a multitude of choices that can be made, some smart, some quick, and the list goes on. However, when the question comes up about teens and drinking, the answers should always be smart this is just not the case in most instances. Alcohol comes with consequences, regardless of age. The impact on lives is almost always negative, with the ability to ruin lives within just a few drinks. Teenagers and Alcohol are not supposed to be mixed for numerous reasons such as the detrimental impact on the young mind and body, lessened self control, and lowered academic performance. The question that is frequently asked among teens who feel as if they want to experiment with alcohol is whether or not a safe form of alcohol exists. Contrary to popular belief in teen culture, no, there is not a ВЁsafeВЁ form of alcohol. There is alcohol in every alcoholic drink, the amount of alcohol varies depending on the drink. Contrary to this, I also believe that the social stigma for those who choose not to drink has definitely improved from the time my older siblings were in school. At a party or other event, if a teen decides to not drink, they are not ostracized and instead respected for their decision and honesty. It is thought that by diagnosing ADHD early and treating it properly, children who might not have had a chance to succeed can now be successful. The advocates for diagnosis of ADHD also point out that the treatment of ADHD with prescription drugs is actually very small and only one out of every three children diagnosed with ADHD is actually treated with prescription drugs (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, para. 45). The article concludes by stating that although most experts have varying ideas and on ADHD they are all in agreement that the disorder needs more research. As I stated previously, I do believe ADHD is over diagnosed; however, I am in total disagreement with the critics who believe the disorder doesn t exist at all. Their claim that in the past it was acceptable and expected of children to be hyperactive and rowdy just doesn t hold water for me. In the past we did not have the knowledge that we do now and as a result children were not diagnosed and either struggled to succeed in school and life or didn t succeed at all. Some people might say that Holden doesnВґt understand that as an adult, most innocent people stay innocent and he is just judgemental of all the people around him. Salinger suggests that in order to transition to the adult world properly, an individual must understand that we change and most become corrupt. When workers become increasingly dissatisfied with their present employment, they may seek to improve their workplace by forming a union instead of leaving the position (Fossum, 2012, p. 7). In fact, the entire history of human accomplishment in the visual arts seems to reveal a deep seated desire to represent time, space, and action visually and as vividly as possible . (Lewis 5) Throughout history, people have exhibited a need to be entertained and a need for hope or something to look forward to. Without anything to live for, something to strive for, life can prove to be meaningless. The invention of moving pictures began in 1875 in California when Leland Stanford, the governor of California, got into a disagreement with a rival gambler about whether or not all four hooves of a horse are ever off the ground at the same time. To get to the bottom of this argument, Stanford hired Eadweard Muybridge, a British born entrepreneur and renowned photographer to set up a row of cameras along a racetrack and capture the stages of the horses gallop with timed exposures. (Lewis 8) This technique, known as the battery of camera technique, brought photography leaps and bonds closer to cinema. After proving that all four hooves of a horse are indeed off the ground at the same time, Muybridge took his series photographs on the road where he not only exhibited his work but also talked about the technology that produced it. It was at one of these shows that Thomas Edison met with Muybridge and became interested in producing a more sophisticated simulation of movement on film than Muybridge s series photographs could ever have produced... He had plans to develop a system that might sync serial images with recorded sound played back on the Edison phonograph . (Lewis 9). After meeting with Muybridge, Edison enlisted photographer William Kennedy Laurie Dickson to help him take technology one step further and create a camera that could take a sequence of pictures with a single load ... • 40. Violent Video Games Essay The Case for Violent Video Games Video Games have been a source of fun and enjoyment for many people, whether they are kids or adults. Violent video games are the most popular types of video games. Many young gamers are quite obsessed over these games. Recently violent video games (VVGs) have been accused of being the source to many mass shootings in the world, accused of corrupting the minds of young gamers. This is wrong. Violent Behavior in Video Games Violent video games are blamed for being linked to levels of aggression. Many people believe VVGs raise levels of aggression; however, studies show that belief is false. Although VVGs have violent content, it does not coincide with the levels of aggression being increased. Ratings for VVGs have regressed from their original state of maturity, meaning younger kids can play these games. If young children are approved to play VVGs then there must be reasons. Adults want their children to be social and make friends and video games can help them do that. According to Jack Hollingdale, playing cooperative team player video games increases empathy and decreases aggression (Hollingdale, 2014). Aggression levels are not the only factors thought to be linked to VVGs, hostility levels are another topic for arguing. To help prove that video games do not make young gamers want to hurt others a study was done. This study consisted of 43 young adults from ages 12 18, most of the youth were Caucasian American males. Greatest Generations, Tom Brokaw The book The Greatest Generation , by Tom Brokaw, is about the men and women who were born in the 1920 s and how they are what he deems to be the greatest generation thus far. He believes this generation is so tremendous because of the fact they did not demand respect for what they did and went through. Though may sacrificed as much as their lives, they do not think higher of themselves. Even through all their struggling they managed to have enough strength leave everything behind and fight for their country. I believe Tom Brokaw is correct when he says they are there greatest generation. Loyalty In Beowulf Literature in a certain time period can reflect the ideals and values of the people who existed during the time period. values such as loyalty, heroism, and paganism conflicted with Christianity. Many of these deals from the Anglo Saxon period can easily be compared to the situations in the epic poem Beowulf Uniquely, loyalty is a highly valued ideal in the Anglo Saxon period. In Beowulf, loyalty is shown in the kingdom that Beowulf helps. Along with the fact that the village would celebrate often. This vividly paints a picture of how even though the Anglo Saxons are barbaric they value the family unit, tribal loyalty, and the kingdom as a whole. In the poem Beowulf it states all of Beowulf s band had jumped from their beds, ancestral swords raised and read and determined (Burton Raffel 31). This expresses that a large band of people were loyal to Beowulf when they rushed over to join the cause. This contributes that love and loyalty in the kingdom. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The kernel maintains a list of free pages for each zone. Each zone has its own page allocator that allocates and frees memory as needed. Mac OS X is a little different as compared to the older MAC OS virtual memory. Similar to Windows OS, when Mac OS X needs memory it pushes something currently not needed into a swap file for temporary storage (OSX Daily, 2010). The swap file concept is also known as virtual memory. Mac OS X, because it is built on the UNIX core, relies heavily on swap files and paging for general memory and cache management. Virtual memory, also known as secondary memory or secondary storage, typically refers to hard disk storage and is much slower than main memory. Advantages of virtual memory include; running more than one application at a time, the ability to run larger programs with less RAM, applications may launch faster because of file mapping, and the user does not have to buy more main memory (RAM). Disadvantages of virtual memory include; applications run slower than if loaded into main memory, increased time to switch between applications, less hard drive space for the users use, and some may argue reduced system stability is inherent to virtual memory. Linux s virtual memory system is responsible for the memory visible to each process. The memory system creates virtual memory on demand and swaps pages in and out of main memory to the disk as needed. Virtual memory is divided into regions called backing. Backing is ...
