Examples Of Eulogy In Coretta s Funeral
Coretta Scott King was an activist who had a major impact on those around her. For Coretta s
funeral, her sister, Maya Angelou wrote Coretta s eulogy. The eulogy first mentions Coretta s
passion as a peaceful activist who wanted to right the wrongs in the world. The eulogy progresses
by explaining her background as an African American woman who was born in a small town and
loved everyone and everything no matter their difference in this world. Maya then describes her
experiences of exchanging phone calls, letters, and flowers with Coretta because they were not
able to see each other frequently. The eulogy ends with Maya and Coretta agreeing that Peace and
justice should belong to all people, everywhere, all the time (Angelou, n.d., para.... Show more

She also used humor to put the audience at ease. First, Maya tells the audience that Coretta
loved her church, family, friends, and race. She also cared about the sexual orientation of others,
the condition of humans, and the struggles in the world (Angelou, n.d., para. 7). This appeals to
the audience s emotions because those topics are very controversial and cause many people to
end friendships, but not for Coretta. Maya also appeals to the audience when she talks about
sending flowers and cards because they rarely saw each other. This affected the audience because
many people in the audience know how that feels. Another way that Maya appeals to the
audience through pathos is using humor that will help the audience relax. First, Maya told the
audience that they would call each other girl because it was a black woman thing to do, she told
the audience that in their 70th decade they still said it (Angelou, n.d., para. 9). Maya also brings
humor into the argument when she told the audience that she would tell her sister jokes that were
not meant for the presence of anyone but the two of them (Angelou, n.d., para. 11). The reason
Maya used humor in her argument is simply the fact that it is hard to say no when you are
laughing. Using humor helped the audience to relax and be more understanding which made it
easier for Maya to offer her proposal that others need to follow in Coretta s

Lab Report Discussion
1.What are the physical principles being investigated in this lab? Our object in this experiment was
to gain familiarity in working with vector quantities. We demonstrated the process of the addition of
several vectors to form a resultant vector experimentally, graphically, and algebraically. By using all
three of these methods, we were able to see how each method produces a slightly different resultant
force (N) and resultant direction (in degrees). 2.How do your results verify the principles being
investigated? Discuss and evaluate the results, including percent errors and percent differences.
According to our percent error computations, the graphical method is more accurate than the
experimental method. For instead, the percent difference between experimental to... Show more

There were slipstream soot marks on the right engine nacelle, which identifies as burning in
flight. The right horizontal stabilizer had soot and tiny droplets of metal, this shows that the
engine was burning during flight. The right prop showed span and chord wise striations with S
compressions on the trailing edges. The blade tips were broken and jagged with missing pieces.
It was determined during laboratory teardown showed that the right engine was producing power
during impact. The left Engine nacelle showed evidence of vertical dark residue marks or soot
trails. The prop was intact, the tips were bent backwards and showed very little sign of trailing
edge compression. This possibly indicates that the engine was not running during the time of
impact. It was also discovered that the fuel line support bracket showed propagation cracks along
the bolt holes that connect it to the firewall. It did not separate from the firewall, and the fuel line
showed no signs of loss of integrity. The cockpit and passenger areas were destroyed. All of the
instruments were destroyed as well. The throttle quadrant was damaged, but it did show that all the
levers, props, throttle, mixture and feathering levers were pushed forward into the panel. Initial
cable tracing showed remaining integrity, but due to damage from the impact and the resulting fire,
actuator positions were inclusive. There were large metal trunks scattered throughout the

The Dangers of Metabolife Essay
The Dangers of Metabolife
Obesity:
The term obese implies that one is very fat , extremely overweight, and often carries negative
connotations. However the scientific definition describes obese in a non judgmental way that
simply expresses ones weight as a number, a certain body mass index (BMI). Since the early 1980s,
BMI has been the medical standard for obtaining obesity measurements (http:/
/www.quantumhcp.com/obesity.htm). Government researchers and scientists developed the BMI
to take height into account in weight measurements. It is important to realize that one cannot
determine if one is obese based solely on ones weight. For example, if one weighs 145 pounds, is
he or she considered to be obese? The answer to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact must be faced; obesity is increasing in numbers. However, it is interesting to note that as
the number of overweight individuals increases, so too does the various methods of reducing
caloric and fat intake. In today s busy society Americans are willing to try almost any weight loss
product on the market in order to reach their goal of thinness. Americans are turning to herbal
supplements in record numbers as a means of attaining their dietary needs and goals. One of the
best selling herbal supplements on the market is Metabolife 356Гў (http://www.metabolife.com
/news/100199.htm).
What is Metabolife?
Metabolife 356Гў is an herbal supplement whose purpose is to increase weight loss by burning fat
and increasing energy levels, (http://www.w8lossbiz.com/metabolife/index.html). Simply put,
Metabolife 356Гў raises the body s metabolism and creates a thermogenic (increase in metabolism
and fat burning) response. Metabolife 356Гў is one of America s best selling herbal supplements,
but where did it come from?
The Origins of Metabolife 356Гў
Michael J. Ellis developed the herbal supplement in the early 1990s as a means to help his father
counter the fatigue of cancer treatment. Ellis, a former California police officer has had no
medical experience; however, he was linked to a methamphetamine lab bust in 1990 (Cowley Reno,
1999). Methamphetamine is also known as meth and is an illegal street drug chemically related to
ephedrine. In 1992

The Western Training And Communicative Language Teaching
1. Analyses the generic structure of the article
The article is discussing the Western training and Communicative language teaching and mainly it
argues about the impact of these teachings on a person who belongs from other languages. The
role of TESOL is important here and the opinion and views of the other language teachers have
been described. The discussion made in paper is in a proper and significant manner that is holding
a generic structure for understanding. On the very first the paper is giving an overall summary of
discussion in form of abstract that is describing about the main theme of article that is the problems

2) Summarize the main ideas Demand for competent English language users has been increasing in
many countries like Bangladesh and for this purpose English language teaching (ELT) has been
increasing. According to the increasing demand of competent English users and teachers the
teachers of English language are adopting communicative language teaching (CLT), the best way to
learn English language skills. With respect to current knowledge, teachers lack in CLT skills. In this
scenario, the encouragement of competent English language users is going through many stages in
Bangladesh. These stages involve the communication barrier and the cultural difference among
people belonging from the other organizations.
The main and prominent objective of this paper and all of the discussion is to talk about the
perception and ideology of Bangladeshi teachers. They are working to reduce and minimize the
different problems associated with the teachers of other languages. The Teacher of English to
Speakers of Other Languages(TESOL) is the association that is working on teaches of other
languages and also on the teachers that have training from the Western Countries. It can be
understood by the analysis of Bangladeshi population where almost 98% of the population is
speaking Bengali. With the increasing demand of business market and job market, there is the great

Comparison Of Forgiveness In Messala And Judah Ben Hur
Hope and Forgiveness
Judah Ben Hur, someone who is wrongly accused of treason by his (adopted) brother, who is
involved with the Roman army, returns to his home after years at sea to get his revenge, but
finds redemption instead. Ben Hur (1959+2016) Was directed by William Wyler (1959) and
Timur Bekmambetov (2016) and the cinematography was done by Oliver Wood (2016) and
Robert Surtees (1959). Ben Hur is about a conflict with authority, and two friends who reunite
when they become adults. Judah (Charlton Heston or Jack Huston) is Jewish and doesn t
believe in what Rome is doing and Messala (Stephen Boyd or Toby Kebbell) is a roman soldier.
Ben Hur is a movie which shows forgiveness, hope, and conflict all in one, i really enjoyed how
they tied the three together within the films. The mood of this movie and offices changed within
the 1959 film to the 2016 film. In the 1959 film, Messala and Judah go their separate ways when

Essay about William Shakespeare s Relevance Today
William Shakespeare s Relevance Today
For as long as formal education has existed in Britain it has been a largely standard assumption
that teaching the works of William Shakespeare is relevant and necessary. Perhaps the relevance
of his writing is taken for granted, perhaps it is necessary to re examine the role of Shakespeare
for the modern audience. There are indeed many people who question the relevance of this 440
year old playwright to a 21st century audience, taking it even as far as perhaps the greatest heresy
of all, questioning the necessity of GCSE pupils learning Shakespeare at all. This proposed
vandalism from the policymakers (Guardian 09/02/01) is opposed wholesale by supporters ... Show

Each play of Shakespeare is the development of a metaphor or group of metaphors. There is a
matrix out of which feeling finds words, emotions take shape and voices become characters. That
which is referred to most often in metaphors, images, allusions and statements is usually for
Shakespeare what is significant
(Rehder 1980 p56)
However simply because the theme is, arguably, not reliant on the context or overall setting, and
that this theme is relayed by metaphor and not in descriptive prose, is not perhaps justified cause
to say that the theme itself will necessarily be relevant; or indeed that the metaphorical vehicle by
which it is conveyed will be relevant or appreciable either. For example one of the more central
themes of King Lear, as with all the tragedies, is death. Death as a theme can be said to have
starkly contrasting meaning and therefore perhaps relevance for a modern audience as compared to
a Shakespearean one. Today death is a rare and terrible tragedy of momentous importance in the life
of an individual, in 16th century England with its plagues, starvation, infant mortality and state
violence; death was

Determinism In Slaughterhouse Five
Kurt Vonnegut, one of the most successful and socially engaged writers of the twentieth century,
dedicated a quarter century to the examination of one of the most devastating blows to humanity in
history, World War Two (Bloom). The implications of determinism strike deep into the pride of
man, thus the prospect of being nothing but debris floating through time will quickly destroy any
delusions of grandeur. In Slaughterhouse Five, the narrative s non linear component reveals the
insignificance of man as the carnage of WW2 rages and the Tralfmadorians, aliens of the fourth
dimension, share their fatalistic philosophy. As war s inexorable nature forges the course of history,
the passive antihero sees the ultimate futility of resistance as well... Show more content on

Under the Tralfmadorian concept of time, as well as the protagonist s perception of life, all
events are predetermined , and the perpetuation of life gives man the opportunity to spectate every
aspect of his life in an endless loop. Or in the interest of brevity, the past, present, and future have
always existed, and every event snapped in to order from that singularity. The seemingly mutable
progression of time was, in fact, set into place in such a way that cause and effect were inchoate in
the beginning although every single cause could only determine one , immutable single effect, a
sort of metaphysical dominoes (D Ammassa). The non sequential nature of the novel portrays one
unheroic hero while incipient events coalesce into one kaleidoscope whole which gives a portrait of
the man as well as how capriciously death affects man (MacFarlane). In Outlander, time travel
allows the non linearity but with the added factor of controlling the viewing order. According to the
Tralfmadorians, it is simply an illusion here on earth that time moves chronologically (Vonnegut
13). In reality, the mercurial nature of time concedes its linearity, thus making the protagonist s
acceptance warranted. Similarly, in The Land That Time Forgot, the whims of time have mastery
over the men and animals. Not only is the war itself inescapable, but the force dictating

The first milestone is when the technological feasibility, whether the software can be produced to
meet its design specification, is established, and the second milestone is when the software product
is available for general release to customers. All developmental costs incurred should be expensed
before meeting the first milestone, capitalized between the first milestone and the second, and
amortized when second milestone is reached.
Microsoft argues that the time between the two milestones is usually too short for the company to
capitalize on any significant amount of costs, therefore Microsoft s policy is to expense all
research and development costs as they incur regardless of whether the milestones are reached or
not. As a result, Microsoft has relatively consistent annual expenses during its software
development process compared to companies that capitalize on costs after technological feasibility
is established. After the development process is finished, Microsoft s software will start to generate
revenue but will not appear on the company s balance sheet because no costs were capitalized.
To illustrate the impact of Microsoft s cost capitalization policy, consider a specific software that
takes three years to develop, its technological feasibility is established at the end of year two, and
the developed software will be on the market for two years. The following tables are created with
arbitrary values to compare two cases where

Energy Crisis Interrelated to Global Warming. Photovoltaic Cell A Possible Solution Abstract
The world s energy crisis has worsened in recent years, as oil prices dramatically increased due to
the limited amount of available oil. Global warming is considered as a byproduct of energy crisis,
because as oil continues to burn in the refining process, CO2 is constantly emitted to the
atmosphere at a fast rate and in heavy concentrations, which in turn, worsens the global warming
situation. Photovoltaic cell technology converts sunlight into direct current electricity. This source
can be a possible solution to solve the energy crisis as well as the global warming issue.
Introduction Energy crisis has remained a top concern in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the possible solutions to solve these problems is the replacement of renewable energy,
solar energy, which converts sun energy directly to usable energy such as electricity. This will
possibly slow down the process of energy crisis and global warming. 3 Results and Discussion
Almost everything in our daily lives depends on oil as a major energy source, automobiles,
freeways, commutes, air travel, food and heater/air conditioning. Since the production of oil is
considered cheap and convenient in economic terms, people rarely consider alternative sources
of energy. Until recently, the energy crisis has worsened. This is indicated by the rising of oil
prices. The world, especially the U.S. is highly depending on the Middle Eastern oil because oil
productions in other places are constantly declining. Not only city residents are dependent on oil,
but also the farmers. Farmer represents 2% of the American population, but they can produce
enough food for the rest of the 98% of the population due to the help from the oil powered
machineries. It is estimated that it takes approximately one ton of oil to produce one steer. (The
Coming World Energy Crisis, 2005). Since oil is a non renewable energy source, the oil
production will definitely be depleted. The world has already consumed about half of the
endowment of oil, and the discovery rate for new oil has decreased in the past 40 years. As the
world population increases, the corresponding

that many people in the organization feel the same way about the 360В° performance review.
Perhaps this is the first issue that needs to be addressed and the managers need to first see the
value in this review process and have a better understanding of its mechanics before they roll it

disapproval of this process does not set the appropriate foundation for this organization to fully

Although we take writing so much for granted as to forget that it is a technology, writing is in a way

that although we may not consider writing to be a drastic technology, we would say that it is an

small enough to fit so many words onto my log because the juice from the berries would run. I
also found that the berries had to be extremely ripe in order to produce the dark red juice, for if
they were not yet ready the juice inside ran clear. Next, I found that without a sharp point it was

Achieving Justice In America
Achieving justice in American society today is complicated. Society as a whole is indifferent on
what justice is defined by. The United States government creates laws and punishments for
breaking those laws. The foundation of all laws in America is the constitution. Judges and/or
panels determine the consequences of breaking those laws that are protected and enforced by
lawyers and lawmen. The challenge here is to truly determine what is to be considered justice
for the state of the society deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed (Jefferson,
1776), and not that for a lone individual or a specific group. To bend rules or the law in a way to
make a few happy is truly that of injustice.

Female Circumcision Argumentative Essay
Female circumcision, also known as female genital mutilation (FGM), is a major topic in the
feminist spotlight. Based solely on the difference between the descriptions of the topic
(circumcision vs. mutilation), it is easy to see there is conflict of opinions about the ethics
surrounding the practice. While male circumcision is often easily accepted in modern day society,
female circumcision is not. The common stereotype is that female circumcision is performed as a
male dominance practice (Vestbostad Blystad, 2014), however, there are many alternate traditions
surrounding the practice. Therefore, I will investigate both sides of the story: the religious
/traditional outlook, feminist/human rights outlook and why concern is placed on female
circumcision over male.

Webster s New World Dictionary defines clitoridectomy as the surgical excision of the clitoristo

reduces clitoridectomy to being about purely sexual purposes; it states that clitoridectomy is an
act used to take away a women s sexual pleasure. However, many cultures perform clitoridectomy
for reasons that are not linked to sexual pleasure. The Encyclopedia of Religion states that
clitoridectomy is a term to describe numerous ritual surgical operations (cite). These operations

labia minora, labia majora, or a combination of such acts. While the act itself is the same no

Ritz Carlton Strategic Planing Essay
The Ritz Carlton is synonymous with luxury. The strategic planning throughout all aspects of it
experience has contributed to their reputation as a world class luxury hotel. Ritz Carlton s ability
to remain so successful has not been by accident or luck but by implementing a business plan that
has reevaluated its service design processes in order to deliver more experientially based employee
and customerengagement. (Nixon amp; Rieple, 2010) The managementteam of Ritz Carltonbuilt a
business plan that puts its focus on who their customers are and what their definition of luxury is.

The ability to standardize the each locations management plan to account for regional differences is
the reason for the Ritz Carlton s success. The success of adapting to each location s unique attribute
has produced a better experience for the Ritz Carlton s guest. Their business plan has been designed
to identify their target customer and what they value as luxury. The management team has
identified the critical process that every location has to implement. This standardization provides
the structure for the property manager to focus on the experiences of the customer. By using these
different elements to gather feedback for problems and solutions, they are developing the key
process to anticipate a customer s needs. The collection, analysis and distribution of information,
including output and quality reports on a company s process (Brown, Curry, Jeffery amp; Edmund,
2003 Pg 100) is exactly what the Ritz Carlton management team has implemented. Their ability to
anticipate their customer s wants and needs has set them apart from their competition regardless of
location and workforce.

CSI: How to identify an unknown white powder
Jiayue Sun
Introduction
The Identity of a chemical compound is extremely critical to observe. The identity can lead to
discovering its properties and can aid in its classification. Thus scientist all around the world put
high emphasis on the procedure to identify a compound through the flame test and chemical testing.
Flame test works to identify the cation within the compound, while chemical testing using certain
compounds and acid identifies the anion.
Flame test uses the differences of energy levels of an element. When the flame, from the micro
burner used, excites the electrons in their ground state, the electrons absorb the energy and move to
a higher energy level. Yet since the ground state is preferred, the electrons tend to move down the
energy level and emit the extra energy absorbed. This type of energy is emitted through photon and
wavelength, a characteristic of light. Thus, each element emits a certain type light which can be
used to identify it by consulting a chart with all the documented flame test results. In Particular for
this experiment, the test for ammonia and Magnesium is conducted with the addition of sodium
hydroxide and the observing for the presence of the odor of ammonia for ammonia or precipitate
for magnesium.
The chemical testing uses compounds including acids and alkaline to combine with the element.

We thought getting to the subway was hard, but the real challenge was figuring out which line to

The Gilded Age And The Age Of Information
The term the Gilded Age was coined by Mark Twain. By this, he meant that the period was
glittering on the surface but corrupt underneath. With its period of extreme economic growth, there
was tremendous wealth, but only for the wealthy. The Second Gilded Age, which some say was
brought on as the Information Age, brings a level of inequality to America that has never been seen
before. Experts believe that this shift could kill the American dream. The Gilded Age and the Age
of Information are similar in terms of the vast economic inequality prevalent, the issues arising with
immigration (both reform and influx), and the disparity between the political parties.
Vast economic inequality prevalent
The United States income inequality has risen drastically since the 1970 s and has not been this
high since 1928. Economic inequality is the unequal differences in how assets, wealth, and income
are dispersed among the people and different populations throughout the United States. It is often
described as the gap between the rich and the poor.
Wealthy industrialists and financiers such as John D. Rockefeller, founder of the Standard Oil
Company; Andrew Carnegie, the self made steel tycoon and philanthropist; Cornelius Vanderbilt,
known for developing the inland water trade and rapidly growing railroad industry after building
the New York Central Railroad; and Jay Gould, a developer of the railroads, were labeled as robber
barons, meaning an American capitalist who became

The First Failure Of The Settlement Of Roanoke Colony
It started in 1583. Sir Humphrey Gilbert organized the enterprise. He ended up drowning while
attempting to colonize St. John s, Newfoundland. Sir Walter Raleigh, his half brother, was chosen
to take over. On March 25, 1584, Raleigh was granted a charter by Queen Elizabeth I to colonize

County, North Carolina, but over the course of two years they went through some hardships. They
thought the native village of Aquascogoc stole a silver cup, and thus attacked the village. They
remained anyway, even with the lack of food, and some men went back to Englandto grab more
troops and supplies. In the meantime, from attacking the native village, the colonists were
attacked, but able to repel said attack. When Sir Francis Drake stopped by on the way back and
volunteered to take the colonists back to England, they agreed, leaving behind a couple men to

Gun Control Argumentative Analysis
The right to bear arms, the Second Amendment, allowing citizens of the United States to own

important as it is in today s world. Gun control in the United States needs to be more heavily
restricted, access to weapons is a factor in many things, from crime, to mass shootings. If there is a
problem, there must be a solution to solve that problem; so if guns are a factor in so many

It is evident he feels it his duty to make his wife happy, yet not out of love, but out of pity. His
feeling of pity then becomes extended to another woman, with whom he begins an adulterous

about by sexuality or a love of beauty. But rather it is the result of a sense of pity and
responsibility that he feels towards the helpless victims (Keerthi 124). Scobie himself does not
seem to be an overtly sexual character; he blames this on his age but it seems as though pity has
replaced any other feelings he might have ever been capable of feeling towards another human
being. During an intimate moment with Helen, he notes: He was more than thirty years older: his

Benefits Of A Long Run Relationship Between Gdp Per Capita...
In this section, we first use unit root test to select countries that are suitable for bonds test. Then,
bonds test is carried out to determine the existence of a long run relationship between GDP per
capita and GHG emission per capita. Next, if the result of bonds test is inconclusive, we employ
Engle and Granger cointegration test to determine whether a long run relationship exist. Once the
existence of a long run relationship is tested, we proceed to find out parameters and turning points.

evidence that the ARDL F statistics is sensitive to the lag order, so we select lag order based on
minimum value of Akaike Information Criteria (AIC) for it is a consistent model selector. If
AIC are close in two models, we use BIC as the selection criteria. After obtaining the optimal lag
order, we calculate the F statistics of the ARDL model. We list selected lags for each country and
the F statistics for the corresponding models in Table A1 (production based analysis) and Table A2
(consumption based analysis) in Appendix. As shown in Tables A1 and A2, some countries allow
for the existence of a long run relationship in more than one functional form. In those cases, we

Sodium Carbonate And Paba Polar
The sodium carbonate was added in this experiment is because it separates the hydroxyl group s
hydrogen atom from the oxygen on PABA. The O on sodium carbonate attacks the hydrogen on the
hydroxyl group of PABA, thus making the sodium carbonate a hydroxyl group. Meanwhile, the
initial hydroxyl group on PABA becomes O . This reaction makes the oxygenatom on PABA polar.
The reason to make the oxygen on PABA polar is to make it dissolve in water, because water is
polar, and polar likes polar; thus the main reason for adding sodiumcarbonate is to allow PABA to
dissolve in water.
The hydrogen chloride was added in this experiment is because it recombined the previously
separated hydrogen back to the O on PABA, and return the hydroxyl group

Bp ( British Petroleum )
BP (British Petroleum) was founded well over a century ago by William D Arcy who invested
his savings in the hunt for oil in the Middle East. After several years of drilling, D Arcy s money
and patience were about to run out, when oil was found about 1,200 feet down. This changed
the outlook for the company and D Arcy became a rich man (Thorne, p. 587 2014). Because of
the difficulty in trying to drill for oil in this undeveloped land, by 1914 BP was almost bankrupt
again. The company had oil, but no one to sell to. Because of the insistence of Winston
Churchill, the oil would be used by the British Navy, which stared the debate over the
repercussions of involving politics in the oil industry. This debate has continued through present
day wars (Thorne, p. 587 2014). The twenty first century saw a tremendous growth in the oil
industry, as well as a power shift in the Middle East. This directly affected BP because the import
taxes of oil were raised by Libyan leader Miammar al Gaddafi and spread to oil rich Middle East
countries. Because of this, BP s survival was contingent on finding other places to dig for oil.
The Forties Field off the coast of Scotland and Prudhoe Bay Alaska were tapped, and became BP
s best sites. It was a challenge for their engineers because transportation of the oil became a
problem. Because of this we saw the development of the largest deepwater pipeline ever
constructed. BP did extensive test to assure the public that this new pipeline

As we start on the song Cherub Rock from the album Siamese Dream, let s look to the beginning.
The start of the songs features upbeat guitars that quickly mix with a dirty rock rhythm,
contrasting To Forgive. The songs lyrics start off by saying freak out and give in. Doesn t matter
what you believe in . Given the rest of the songs lyrics this could be referring to blending in and
doing what someone else wants due to the lyrics, be somebody s fool this year. Cause they know.

Before the song contains the final repetitions of let me out Corgan goes on to state I know, I know,
I know. Should have listened when I was told furthering the claim that parts of the song is about
giving in to what someone else wants.
To Forgive features a different style of repetition that parallels the previous lyrics. The lyrics I
knew my loss before I even learned to speak and but I played along to my birthday song are very
similar to previous lyrics, basically repeating the pre chorus. This could be done to emphasize
ideas without repeating the pre chorus verbatim. The song then goes on to repeat the chorus once
more. The feelings of loss of control, emptiness, or childhood sadness are expressed in Cherub
Rock and To Forgive are not positive feelings. These feeling cause each song to have a similar
message and tone to one another, without the listeners realization. Even though the songs are pretty

Adolescent Behavior And Abusive Situations
Abstract An estimated 20 people per minute in the United States are abused by an intimate partner
each year (Breiding et al., 2014). Many reasons have been identified that prevent women from
leaving and remaining out of abusive relationships. Such factors include economic, religious,
cultural, and psychological (.e.g. fear, learned helplessness, self esteem). Yet, there has been very
limited research that examines the neurocognitive issues that influences a woman s decision return
to abusive situations, despite opportunities and resources to leave. The following study will explore
possible implications of addictive behavior towards abusive situations in battered women due to
neurocognitive dysfunction. We hypothesized that battered women will present with decision
making impairment similar to persons with substance dependency and other addictions. Findings
will shed light on the need to develop more comprehensive prevention and intervention measures to
decrease the number of women who return to abusive situations. Background Currently, the United
States spends an estimated eight billion dollars per year on medical and legal expenses alone
(Burnett, 2014). Unfortunately, the physical, psychological, and emotional costs to women and
their children are immeasurable. Women of domestic violence often experience both acute and
chronic health problems, substance abuse, and psychological disorders. (Breiding et al.,2014). .

Total Supply Chain Cost Essay
What is your evaluation of the Total Supply Chain Cost (TSCC) program developed by Owens
amp; Minor and Virginia Mason? * Virginia Mason Medical Center (VM) hired Owens amp;
Minor (O amp;M) as its alpha vendor for medical/surgical supplies in 2004. At that time O

worked together to create a new supply chain process called the Total Supply Chain Cost (TSCC)

On top of that fee, there is a $36,000 internal cost to VM to process the purchase order outside of
the TSCC system. * In this example it would cost an additional $42,630 to go outside of the
Alpha System with a new distributor. * Suture activity through O amp;M does not generate
additional purchase orders which allow the cost to remain low to O amp;M. Even with the added
line number fees and Alpha Fee, the savings to the client and O amp;M are obvious. Exhibit 7|

Analysis Of Somaliland Announced s Secession From Somalia...
Somaliland announced its secession from Somalia in 1991 and has operated as a more or less
independent country ever since. It has its own president, parliament and constitution. It even boasts
a central bank that prints its own currency, the Somaliland shilling. The peaceful existence of its
three million mostly Muslim, but secular, residents contrasts sharply with the disorder and
instability of Somalia. The world, however, has refused to recognize Somaliland. Reluctant to
encourage other separatist movements, the West remains committed to supporting the embattled
Transitional Federal Government in Somalia, which opposes its separation.
Now let me talk about the Economy in Somaliland even though Somaliland is not totally
independent country and still share a lot with Somalia when it comes to economy. In this paper I
will concentrate four aspects that s makes Somaliland economy weak or low.
Certification
Somaliland government does not have the capacity to participate in certification schemes or to
provide authenticity documentation that would enable businesses to sell goods globally. Firms
instead have to find unconventional, and often costly, workarounds. Although sesame seeds are
grown in large quantities in Somaliland in 2012 the country was the 12th largest producer in the
world exporting them is challenge.
This means that the government of Somaliland loses money, because if the
Somaliland government exporting the way the formal Somali government used to

  • 2. Examples Of Eulogy In Coretta s Funeral Coretta Scott King was an activist who had a major impact on those around her. For Coretta s funeral, her sister, Maya Angelou wrote Coretta s eulogy. The eulogy first mentions Coretta s passion as a peaceful activist who wanted to right the wrongs in the world. The eulogy progresses by explaining her background as an African American woman who was born in a small town and loved everyone and everything no matter their difference in this world. Maya then describes her experiences of exchanging phone calls, letters, and flowers with Coretta because they were not able to see each other frequently. The eulogy ends with Maya and Coretta agreeing that Peace and justice should belong to all people, everywhere, all the time (Angelou, n.d., para.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also used humor to put the audience at ease. First, Maya tells the audience that Coretta loved her church, family, friends, and race. She also cared about the sexual orientation of others, the condition of humans, and the struggles in the world (Angelou, n.d., para. 7). This appeals to the audience s emotions because those topics are very controversial and cause many people to end friendships, but not for Coretta. Maya also appeals to the audience when she talks about sending flowers and cards because they rarely saw each other. This affected the audience because many people in the audience know how that feels. Another way that Maya appeals to the audience through pathos is using humor that will help the audience relax. First, Maya told the audience that they would call each other girl because it was a black woman thing to do, she told the audience that in their 70th decade they still said it (Angelou, n.d., para. 9). Maya also brings humor into the argument when she told the audience that she would tell her sister jokes that were not meant for the presence of anyone but the two of them (Angelou, n.d., para. 11). The reason Maya used humor in her argument is simply the fact that it is hard to say no when you are laughing. Using humor helped the audience to relax and be more understanding which made it easier for Maya to offer her proposal that others need to follow in Coretta s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about William Shakespeare s Relevance Today William Shakespeare s Relevance Today For as long as formal education has existed in Britain it has been a largely standard assumption that teaching the works of William Shakespeare is relevant and necessary. Perhaps the relevance of his writing is taken for granted, perhaps it is necessary to re examine the role of Shakespeare for the modern audience. There are indeed many people who question the relevance of this 440 year old playwright to a 21st century audience, taking it even as far as perhaps the greatest heresy of all, questioning the necessity of GCSE pupils learning Shakespeare at all. Each play of Shakespeare is the development of a metaphor or group of metaphors. There is a matrix out of which feeling finds words, emotions take shape and voices become characters. That which is referred to most often in metaphors, images, allusions and statements is usually for Shakespeare what is significant (Rehder 1980 p56) However simply because the theme is, arguably, not reliant on the context or overall setting, and that this theme is relayed by metaphor and not in descriptive prose, is not perhaps justified cause to say that the theme itself will necessarily be relevant; or indeed that the metaphorical vehicle by which it is conveyed will be relevant or appreciable either. For example one of the more central themes of King Lear, as with all the tragedies, is death. Death as a theme can be said to have starkly contrasting meaning and therefore perhaps relevance for a modern audience as compared to a Shakespearean one. Today death is a rare and terrible tragedy of momentous importance in the life of an individual, in 16th century England with its plagues, starvation, infant mortality and state violence; death was ... Determinism In Slaughterhouse Five Kurt Vonnegut, one of the most successful and socially engaged writers of the twentieth century, dedicated a quarter century to the examination of one of the most devastating blows to humanity in history, World War Two (Bloom). The implications of determinism strike deep into the pride of man, thus the prospect of being nothing but debris floating through time will quickly destroy any delusions of grandeur. In Slaughterhouse Five, the narrative s non linear component reveals the insignificance of man as the carnage of WW2 rages and the Tralfmadorians, aliens of the fourth dimension, share their fatalistic philosophy. As war s inexorable nature forges the course of history, the passive antihero sees the ultimate futility of resistance as well... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under the Tralfmadorian concept of time, as well as the protagonist s perception of life, all events are predetermined , and the perpetuation of life gives man the opportunity to spectate every aspect of his life in an endless loop. Or in the interest of brevity, the past, present, and future have always existed, and every event snapped in to order from that singularity. The seemingly mutable progression of time was, in fact, set into place in such a way that cause and effect were inchoate in the beginning although every single cause could only determine one , immutable single effect, a sort of metaphysical dominoes (D Ammassa). The non sequential nature of the novel portrays one unheroic hero while incipient events coalesce into one kaleidoscope whole which gives a portrait of the man as well as how capriciously death affects man (MacFarlane). In Outlander, time travel allows the non linearity but with the added factor of controlling the viewing order. According to the Tralfmadorians, it is simply an illusion here on earth that time moves chronologically (Vonnegut 13). In reality, the mercurial nature of time concedes its linearity, thus making the protagonist s acceptance warranted. All developmental costs incurred should be expensed before meeting the first milestone, capitalized between the first milestone and the second, and amortized when second milestone is reached. Microsoft argues that the time between the two milestones is usually too short for the company to capitalize on any significant amount of costs, therefore Microsoft s policy is to expense all research and development costs as they incur regardless of whether the milestones are reached or not. Photovoltaic Cell A Possible Solution Abstract The world s energy crisis has worsened in recent years, as oil prices dramatically increased due to the limited amount of available oil. Global warming is considered as a byproduct of energy crisis, because as oil continues to burn in the refining process, CO2 is constantly emitted to the atmosphere at a fast rate and in heavy concentrations, which in turn, worsens the global warming situation. Photovoltaic cell technology converts sunlight into direct current electricity. This source can be a possible solution to solve the energy crisis as well as the global warming issue. One of the possible solutions to solve these problems is the replacement of renewable energy, solar energy, which converts sun energy directly to usable energy such as electricity. This will possibly slow down the process of energy crisis and global warming. 3 Results and Discussion Almost everything in our daily lives depends on oil as a major energy source, automobiles, freeways, commutes, air travel, food and heater/air conditioning. Since the production of oil is considered cheap and convenient in economic terms, people rarely consider alternative sources of energy. Until recently, the energy crisis has worsened. This is indicated by the rising of oil prices. The world, especially the U.S. is highly depending on the Middle Eastern oil because oil productions in other places are constantly declining. Not only city residents are dependent on oil, but also the farmers. Farmer represents 2% of the American population, but they can produce enough food for the rest of the 98% of the population due to the help from the oil powered machineries. It is estimated that it takes approximately one ton of oil to produce one steer. (The Coming World Energy Crisis, 2005). The Encyclopedia of Religion states that clitoridectomy is a term to describe numerous ritual surgical operations (cite). These operations include acts such as drawing blood from the clitoral prepuce, excision of the prepuce, clitoris, labia minora, labia majora, or a combination of such acts. While the act itself is the same no matter the definition, in ritual practices, it encompasses more than the need to remove sexual pleasure. For the purpose of this paper, I will refer to any acts as female circumcision, as to include the various practices that are encompassed by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chemistry And Chemical Testing In Chemistry Priya Talwar Chemistry 1411 008, (Group 06 Partners: Esther, Bethany, Sophia) 19 October, 2017 CSI: How to identify an unknown white powder Jiayue Sun Introduction The Identity of a chemical compound is extremely critical to observe. The identity can lead to discovering its properties and can aid in its classification. Thus scientist all around the world put high emphasis on the procedure to identify a compound through the flame test and chemical testing. Flame test works to identify the cation within the compound, while chemical testing using certain compounds and acid identifies the anion. Flame test uses the differences of energy levels of an element. When the flame, from the micro burner used, excites the electrons in their ground state, the electrons absorb the energy and move to a higher energy level. Yet since the ground state is preferred, the electrons tend to move down the energy level and emit the extra energy absorbed. This type of energy is emitted through photon and wavelength, a characteristic of light. Thus, each element emits a certain type light which can be used to identify it by consulting a chart with all the documented flame test results. In Particular for this experiment, the test for ammonia and Magnesium is conducted with the addition of sodium hydroxide and the observing for the presence of the odor of ammonia for ammonia or precipitate for magnesium. The chemical testing uses compounds including acids and alkaline to combine with the element. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With its period of extreme economic growth, there was tremendous wealth, but only for the wealthy. The Second Gilded Age, which some say was brought on as the Information Age, brings a level of inequality to America that has never been seen before. Experts believe that this shift could kill the American dream. The Gilded Age and the Age of Information are similar in terms of the vast economic inequality prevalent, the issues arising with immigration (both reform and influx), and the disparity between the political parties. Vast economic inequality prevalent The United States income inequality has risen drastically since the 1970 s and has not been this high since 1928. Economic inequality is the unequal differences in how assets, wealth, and income are dispersed among the people and different populations throughout the United States. The O on sodium carbonate attacks the hydrogen on the hydroxyl group of PABA, thus making the sodium carbonate a hydroxyl group. Meanwhile, the initial hydroxyl group on PABA becomes O . This reaction makes the oxygenatom on PABA polar. The reason to make the oxygen on PABA polar is to make it dissolve in water, because water is polar, and polar likes polar; thus the main reason for adding sodiumcarbonate is to allow PABA to dissolve in water. After several years of drilling, D Arcy s money and patience were about to run out, when oil was found about 1,200 feet down. This changed the outlook for the company and D Arcy became a rich man (Thorne, p. 587 2014). Because of the difficulty in trying to drill for oil in this undeveloped land, by 1914 BP was almost bankrupt again. The company had oil, but no one to sell to. Because of the insistence of Winston Churchill, the oil would be used by the British Navy, which stared the debate over the repercussions of involving politics in the oil industry. This debate has continued through present day wars (Thorne, p. 587 2014). The twenty first century saw a tremendous growth in the oil industry, as well as a power shift in the Middle East. This directly affected BP because the import taxes of oil were raised by Libyan leader Miammar al Gaddafi and spread to oil rich Middle East countries. Because of this, BP s survival was contingent on finding other places to dig for oil. The Forties Field off the coast of Scotland and Prudhoe Bay Alaska were tapped, and became BP s best sites. It was a challenge for their engineers because transportation of the oil became a problem. Because of this we saw the development of the largest deepwater pipeline ever constructed. • 40. Adolescent Behavior And Abusive Situations Abstract An estimated 20 people per minute in the United States are abused by an intimate partner each year (Breiding et al., 2014). Many reasons have been identified that prevent women from leaving and remaining out of abusive relationships. Such factors include economic, religious, cultural, and psychological (.e.g. fear, learned helplessness, self esteem). Yet, there has been very limited research that examines the neurocognitive issues that influences a woman s decision return to abusive situations, despite opportunities and resources to leave. The following study will explore possible implications of addictive behavior towards abusive situations in battered women due to neurocognitive dysfunction. We hypothesized that battered women will present with decision making impairment similar to persons with substance dependency and other addictions. Findings will shed light on the need to develop more comprehensive prevention and intervention measures to decrease the number of women who return to abusive situations. Background Currently, the United States spends an estimated eight billion dollars per year on medical and legal expenses alone (Burnett, 2014). Unfortunately, the physical, psychological, and emotional costs to women and their children are immeasurable. Women of domestic violence often experience both acute and chronic health problems, substance abuse, and psychological disorders. (Breiding et al.,2014). . More recently, there has ...
