All the Mathematics You Missed
Beginning graduate students in mathematics and other quantitative subjects are expected to have a
daunting breadth of mathematical knowledge, but few have such a background. This book will help
students see the broad outline of mathematics and to fill in the gaps in their knowledge. The author
explains the basic points and a few key results of the most important undergraduate topics in
mathematics, emphasizing the intuitions behind the subject. The topics include linear algebra, vector
calculus, differential geometry, real analysis, point set topology, differential equations, probability
theory, complex analysis, abstract algebra, and more. An annotated bibliography offers a guide to

The Importance Of Type I Diabetes
Syringes, blood testers, clinking of glass vials, the rare but still terrifying seizure from low blood sugar
these are some of the memories I have as a child. My mother disappearing after meals and carrying
around bottles of juice would always arouse my curiosity. I was too young at the time to understand
the seriousness of Type I Diabetes and the constant vigilance required to manage it. Having been
diagnosed at an early age, it was a controlling force of her everyday life. That changed in 1997 when
my mother was selected to receive an electronic insulin pump. I was fascinated by this device. A few
simple presses of a button and the proper dosage of insulin would be administered almost instantly
from a preloaded vial. Four buttons and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From that standpoint, I actively participate in surveys, user research groups, and alpha/beta testing of
products I use, taking the time to answer questions, discover shortcomings, and provide constructive
criticism. I hope to see these contributions result in design and engineering decisions being made from
feedback rather than instinct. These participations serve as insight and allow me to recognize
opportunities and challenges as I work towards my goal of being on the other side of the table in the
role of User Experience Designer.
In preparation for that role, the opportunities offered by the HCDE program will be invaluable. Taking
advantage of access to research opportunities, collaborations, and hands on experience, I will have
everything I need to achieve my professional goal. Directed research groups will expose me to a
variety of issues where I can explore and further my interests. In these groups, I will collaborate with
others in an atmosphere of ideation, iteration, and prototyping to look for problems and develop
solutions. This experience will benefit me as I encounter a similar atmosphere when entering the
professional field. Supplemental learning from Coursera on human centered design will pair well with
the Introduction to User Centered Design course, granting me an in depth understanding of user
centered perspective and design strategy. I will carry that understanding into Interactive Systems

Students are asked to generate BER curves against SNR, and to add at least one of these to their
report, together with 100 to 200 words of description. Marks will be given for output curves that are
smooth and regular, and also for plots that show output over a wide range of SNR. After running the
file or the m file given in simulation.zip sim_multiple_hiperlan2a_1.m , got the curve that displays
BER bit error rat against SNR signal to noise ratio . Using BER is to calculate the performance of the
transmitter, the receiver and the channel system. Figure 7 below represents the BER curve against
SNR and the received signal for the default value of SNR (1:10). It is clear that the curve is not
smooth and regular as result of the low value of the SNR and the error or the target number of the
error. Figure 7: The BER curve and the received signal for SNR value of 10. Also, The BER curve can
be improved by the target number of the error. It means that the value of that number can be adjusted
in Error Rate Calculation block in the commhiperlan2a.mdl in the simulation.zip folder. In the

Park Ridge Is A Population Of 37856 People Essay
Park Ridge has a population of 37,856 people; it consists of a median resident age of 44 years ( Park

condo value is $364,345 ( Park Ridge, Illinois ). The demographics of the people living in Park Ridge
consists of 87 percent Whites, 6.7 percent Hispanics, 3.7 percent Asians, and 1.1 percent Blacks ( Park

numerous resources in terms of restaurants areas, groceries stores, and overall real estate development
of the area. There are several opportunities in the area; lots of up and coming companies and
businesses are present. Furthermore, groceries store like Jewel Osco was 2 blocks away from the
actual school itself; and the area has a ton of other alternatives options for shopping. Malls and big
plazas surrounds the area and offer lots of useful stores can be found almost anywhere (See appendix

As already mentioned, the story of Memento is told backwards and starts at the end of its right
chronological order (scene V), where Leonard kills Teddy. Therefore, the story ends at sequence A,
where Lenny kills Jimmy the drug dealer. The colour scenes alternate with the black and white scenes
and depict the main events of the story since the viewer experiences everything through Leonard s
point of view.Since the story is told backwards, scene by scene the audience gets more information
about the reasons for the murder Lenny commits in the very first sequence of the film. It is kind of a

much easier for people to start conflicts and fights, now you can easily go on the computer and
anonymously hate on someone for no reason. You can get so caught up in your own things that it s
easy to forget the little things that make this world such a good and peaceful place. So something that
I would like to change if I could would be all the fighting that people have whether it s between
siblings or parents or just the random fights people have. I think more peace in the world would be a

cousins rent the cabin there. Everyone in my family gets together at the beach and we all hang out for
a couple days on the last week of August. Along with that on the Sunday of the last week my great
Aunt brings big bins of little chocolate bars and candy for all of the kids to eat. I don t only like this
tradition because of the tasty treats, I enjoy this tradition because I have such a big family that I don t
see everyone all the time so when we get together sometimes it s been a year since I last saw them.

Graphic Design Nvq
A graphic designer s job is creating design solutions with a high visual impact, which involves
communicating with clients and discussing what they would like the outcome to look like and their
needs for the task, such as what does the client want the main colors of their website to be, what fonts
they want to use, where they want images to be places, what tabs they want on the website and so on.
The graphic designer has to understand the client s needs before making decisions. But graphic
designers don t just make websites, they also create advertisements, books, magazines, computer
games, posters, product packaging, displays and exhibitions etc. All of these things require a lot of

this is achieved the website will attract more traffic and make the client more successful, which is
primarily why the client is paying the web designer in the first place. The average salary for a web
designer per year is $55,000 which is not bad.
Relating to a brand identity developer you can also become a logo designer, the main role of a logo

The Importance Of Generations
You can take as much as you can from the generation that has preceded you, but then it s up to you to
make something new. Jackson Browne. Generations have always had an impact on each other, but
something that is big is the fact that generation now are changing more and more than the last, and
while a generation like us are taught by a generation like our parents each generation isn t learning and
living as much like the past. Generations described by me are what we are influenced by most with
our political views, our life choices, our traditions and more. The generation before ours is what we
are sculpted to be like. But what I also believe what is important about generations is three different
ideas of generations. There is the actual definition of generations, what generations are supposed to be
about, and what generations are actually and how they are actually defined culturally. Generations
defined by google is: All of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively.
Generations are what all of us at a certain time are referred to. What mass people are dealing with
whether it be in the past where the generations dealt with the great depression, or in the future when
the generations deal with a new president. It defined is about what the people of a certain time are
dealing with collectively. Generations are what the world uses to improve itself and what it uses to
really create different perspectives on what the world is about and how it

Benefits Of Free Bus Rides For The Elderly
Free Bus Rides for The Elderly
Should the elderly receive free bus rides? This is a controversial issue that many countries are faced
with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into consideration. Some
people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have rights to benefit the giving back
from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the other hand, some disapproval
voices emerge in terms of influence on the social economy or unequal treatment between the elderly
and the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly should receive free bus rides are lacking
finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting public transportations. A lack of finance is the
first reason that the elderly should receive free bus rides. A majority of the elderly is limited in their
finance after they got retired; they are sometimes even not able to pay their fundamental living needs
such as medicine and groceries. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 12% seniors are living at the
poverty level, and their income become lower and lower with increasing age; therefore, they would
have difficulty in their constant expenses such as healthcare, housing, food, and so on. About 14.2% of
all these expenses are spent on transportation (Hawkins 2017). The elderly are struggling with housing
and health bills, lack of access to transportation; over 25 million Americans are living at or below the
poverty line (National Council

The idea of women, such as those in the story can be maintained through Shahrazad retelling their
dignity is amazing. Although Muslim women called back seat in their daily lives, we cannot ignore
them exude wisdom and strength. At that time, women are acting like they are considered property.
Thus, the concept of Shahrazad is liberation of oppressed women and continues to inspire the women
for the next generations. The last important story of the lass is The Tale of Genji. For Genji s love
relationships, there are two basic assessments. First, set up a few centuries is still in current accepted
repeatedly considered by the narrator himself, Genji is all but irresistible to the effect; but he never
gave up and he established ties to any woman. These are compelling or admirable qualities, and Genji
is often praised for men and women as an ideal. However, the reactions to such ideas have been set
recently in North America, Japan, and elsewhere with no doubt.
The first thing in the story about the relations of gender is that they are humane means. No trace of
physical violence against women, there does not have any unreasonable insistence purity, chastity, so
on. Men expected women to ignore a lot of things but maybe they also do their best to reciprocate.
However, men of the story certainly dominate their world. The structure of the entire government is
male, except certain office. The gentleman has professional or public life, as well as private, lady

Achieved Workplace Equality
Is it possible for women to have it all ? As times are changing so are the views for women on having it
all . Why Women Still Can t Have It All by Anne Marie Slaughter is an article about how Slaughter
realized she was living every feminists life but gave it up to be with her family. To Slaughter having it
all meant what type of job she had, but according to her she soon realized that, having it all was not
possible in many types of jobs, including high government office at least not for very long. Anne
Slaughter always had feminist beliefs and thought that if she could get a foreign policy job in the State
Department or the White House, she would stay there as long as she loved what she was doing. She

In her article, I see a lot of similarities as Slaughters. They both bring up the topic of a woman having
a good supportive spouse in order for her to expand in her career. In the article, there is a quote from
Laura Leigh Oyler, Having a supportive spouse has been essential for her career says Oyler, the family
s primary breadwinner. He was the first one to say you can do anything. I ve got your back. Go for it,
she says. (Johnson 1) Another similarity I found between Anne Slaughter s article and Michelle
Johnson s article is that they both share the same thoughts on the workforce not being flexible for
women. Nearly three quarters of Americans say having more women in the workforce has been a
change for the better in society and that marriages are more satisfying when men and women share
responsibilities of work and children. But workplaces and laws have yet to catch up with the realities
of family life, says Joan C. Williams,....The American workplace is still perfectly designed for the
workplace of the 1960s, Williams says. It assumes that you have someone else taking care of all your
other family obligations, and that just isn t true anymore. (Johnson

Tracheaes Research Paper
Insects transport gases throughout their bodies through a system of branching tubes called tracheae
which then branch off into tiny fluid lined tubes called tracheoles. Gases, oxygen and carbon dioxide,
enter and exit the tracheae through paired openings called spiracles. These spiracles have filtering
devices such as fine hairs, which prevent tiny particles from clogging the gas exchange system.
Spiracles also consist of valves that control the degree to which the spiracles are open.
The gases pass through the tracheae and the tracheoles, which are permeable to both fluid and
respiratory gases. These respiratory gases dissolve into this fluid and then diffuse inwards and
outwards of the respiring tissues down their concentration gradient. ... Show more content on

Generally, fish are ectothermic and have a streamlined body to swim rapidly. Fish usually consist of
scales that surround their body, one or two dorsal fins, a tail fin and an anal fin, two sets of paired fins
and jaws. Many different kinds of fish live in a freshwater, aquatic habitat such as lakes, rivers and the
ocean. The water that fish live in has a low concentration of oxygen and is more viscous than air. The
amount of dissolved oxygen in a volume of water is much less than in the same volume of air. Air is
21% oxygen but in water, dissolved oxygen is about 1% by volume. Considering this, fish must have

Mezzo Social Work
In the field of social work there are different types of groups that we will eventually be working with.
Because the field of social work is so big, it is broken down into groups. These groups are micro and

be beneficial to individuals and families who are in need of some assistance. Micro practice is a level
of practice in which social workers work in. In the field of social work, micro is the practice that
typically involves the direct contact with the individuals or families. A social worker who is working
in the micro level tends to work with low income individuals, individuals who suffer from addictions

Sea Anemone Investigation
My investigation focus was to analyse the community pattern within the Rocky Shore Siren s Rock . I
investigated the distribution of the Red Sea Anemone (Actinia tenebrosa) and the Grey side gilled Sea
Slug (Pleurobranchaea maculata) on the slopes of the rocks and also in the rock pools by looking at
both the abiotic and biotic factors of their environment. The community pattern found on the rocks is a
zonation pattern this is because there are distinct horizontal bands of organisms from the low to high
tide. The Rocky Shore habitat is mainly rocks and rock pools. The two species I have chosen that

Gause s competitive exclusion principle states that no two species with identical niches can co exist
for long in the same place. This is because they both have similar needs, and one would out compete
the other for space and food. Abiotic Environment An abiotic environmental factor affecting the
organisms in the rocky shore is the temperature, this is because the temperature of the water affects the
amount of dissolved oxygen the water can hold. Aquatic organisms are dependent on dissolved
oxygen for their survival in this ecosystem. Another abiotic factor is tidal movement, when both
organisms are not in water, they are exposed to prolonged periods of aerial exposure, this increases the
risk of desiccation for the sea slug and sea anemone. Another abiotic factor is the weather conditions,
if the organism is in the mid tidal zone and it is not saturated in water, it could be come

Pros And Cons Rea Essay
With any criminal offence there are two elements to the crime; the Mens Rea and the Actus Reus.
The Mens Rea element is the mental part of the crime and requires proof that the defendant was in a
guilty state of mind before the defendant can be convicted of a crime. There are three different types
of Mens Rea; direct and oblique intention, recklessness and negligence. Intention is differs from
motive or desire. For example if defendant kills their wife who is suffering from a terminal illness, to
relieve their suffering, may well act out of good motives. Nevertheless, this does not prevent them
having the necessary intention to kill. Cases which demonstrate intention include R v Moloney [1985]
AC 905 and R v Inglis [2011] 1 WLR 1110. Direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the case R v Cunningham [1957] 2 QB 396, reckless was put into question if the defendant
foresee the harm that in fact occurred, might occur from his actions, but continue regardless of the
risk. There are two different types of tests for reckless, subjective test and objective test. The difficulty
with a subjective test is that it is based entirely on the defendant s state of mind and it is for the
prosecution to prove that the defendant did anticipate the potential of harm.
Negligence is consequences caused by the actions of a person that fell below the standard of a
reasonable person. Negligence plays a minor role in criminal liability. It used to form the basis of
some driving offences but this has largely been superseded by recklessness. Cases for negligence
include R v Adomako [1994] 3 WLR 288, where an anaesthetist was charged with gross negligence
manslaughter after they failed to notice the oxygen pipe had been disconnected.
An Actus Reus consists of more than just an act. It also consists of whatever circumstances and
consequences are recognised for accountability for the offence in question, therefore all the elements
of an offence other than the Mens

Advancements in Tattoo Technology
In todays generation, its hard not to walk among todays society and not spot someone with a tattoo.
Since the 1970s, tattoos have become a mainstream part of Western fashion, common among both
sexes, to all economic classes, and to age groups from the later teen years to middle age. In todays
generation, the tattoo has taken on a noticeably different meaning than for previous older generations.
The tattoo has shifted from a form of deviance to an acceptable form of expression. Neurologists to
biohackers are reinventing the very idea of the tattoo. With the right technology, tattoos can do a lot
more than just be coloured pigmented skin. They can become digital devices as useful and complex as
the smartphone. This sounds like a fabricated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The future holds the emerging field of bio hacking. This term refers to a practice of part body
modification, and part computer hacking. Last year, artist Anthony Antonellis implanted an RFID chip
in his hand that could store and transmit one kilobyte of information through a tiny antennae. This also
brings to mind, Rich Lee, a salesman from Utah who implanted sound transmitting magnets in his
ears. The magnets are powered by a coil apparatus that includes a little amplifier and battery pack and
plugs into Lee s Walkman. The coil creates an electromagnetic field that vibrates the magnets in his
ears and creates sound comparable to a cheap pair of headphone. The next generation of tattoos is
most likely going to be a post ink enterprise. In some cases, ink will become ephemera, and in other
cases the ink is going to be a gadget itself. For example, LED tattoos, instead of ink injection this form
of tattooing involves implanting LED displays under the skin. These LED tattoos are made up of
silicon electronics less than 250 nanometers thick, built onto water soluble, biocompatible silk
substrates. When injected with saline, the silk substrates conform to fit the surrounding tissue and
eventually dissolve completely, leaving only the silicon circuitry. The body won t reject the electronics
which can be used to power LEDs that act as photonic tattoos. Brian Litt, a neurologist and
bioengineer, inventing this technology that could be used to build

The Death Penalty Should Be Legal Essay
Throughout the United States an argumentative topic is the death penalty should it be legalized across
the 50 states or be declared unconstitutional? Some believe the death penalty is a better option for
those who deserve the highest form of punishment available. However, others argue capital
punishment is a waste of resources and should be brought to an end. Therefore, while many believe
the death penalty should be legalized throughout the United States because it offers a higher form of
punishment, others believe the death penalty should be repealed because it causes unnecessary deaths.
Many believe the death penalty has recently been discovered; although, it originated in the B.C. era.
For example, the earliest forms of government had introduced the death penalty for those who had
committed large offences. One researcher writes, Death Penalty laws can be traced back as far as the
18th century B.C. when the Code of King Hammurabi established death as the penalty for 25 different
crimes ( Capital Punishment Timeline ). He claims the death penalty started before anyone would have
thought; it had been used during the B.C. era. Hammurabi used this as the highest punishment for the
most offensive crimes one could commit. Hammurabi had first developed the idea of an eye for an
eye, meaning if one commits a horrific crime then the same horrific crime shall be done to him.
Although it began in B.C. era, criminal punishment is still used today. Some of the most

attend. This has sparked quite a debate in whether this law has taken too many rights away from the
citizens. There are risks to immunizing your child however the risks of not immunizing can be great
too. I look forward to digging deeper into this subject and finding what I believe is the right answer. At
that point I plan on delivering a great paper on what should be done! 3. My tentative question so far is,
Are Immunizations worth the risk? I really think this is a great question that can lead to a great
argument about the topic. Immunizations have prevented Measles, Small pox, Polio from gaining any
kind of foothold in the United States for decades. On the flipside as a nation there has been more cases
of special needs then ever before in history. Children have more allergies than ever before. Autism and
other special needs have more cases per year than ever before as well. Is there a link between theses
health issues and immunizations. I really hope that after doing more research into this subject I will be
able to determine whether or not immunizations really are worth the

The Soviet Union And The Central Asian Republics
Topic 1: Evaluate the extent to which the Soviet Union was successful in transforming the traditional
tribal and clan identities in the Central Asian Republics?
Introduction
Central Asia, also known the middle Asia is the core region of Asian continent, which stretches from
the Caspian Sea in the east to China in the West and from the South to the Afghanistan and Russia in
the North (Collins, 2002). The Soviet Union was a socialist state in that existed between 1922 and
1991, in Eurasia. The union was a one party federation, the communist party and with its capital in
Moscow. It had multiple sub national republics with its economy and the government being highly
centralised. It had its roots in the revolution of 1917 October. The Soviet ... Show more content on

Those observers who valued cultural preconditions would have expected a new Asia to be
underwritten from Asian values or a theocracy from Islamic values or Leninist legacy to perpetuate
something like the Soviet regime. The theorists who did see the modernisation of the economy were
also doubtful when it came to the popular government in the region (Vladislav, 2009). The Soviet
Central Asia s most important economic indicators saw it as notably higher than Africa and South Asia
and still came out nearing the bottom of the post communist world with much of rural economies and
less of a middle class (Robert, 2009). The high level of literacy in Central Asia although suggested
that democratic beliefs and civil society could emerge. This seemed unlikely to outweigh other
legacies, but the preconditions thinking of every stripe anticipated uniformity of regimes and at the
same time a uniformly nondemocratic regime all across the post Soviet Central Asia.
Even if the future was projected along the continued communism of even continued disagreements
along ethnicity and Islam remained oblivious, one thing was certain that democracy transition of any
kind was not likely. All in all a transition began later on in Kyrgyzstan. As from 2002, all the five
Central Asian states are under one form or another of authoritarian rule (Bishkek, 2014). To suggest
that there are limits in the transition is

Themes Of Longing, Selections From The Ink Dark Moon Sting...
Interwoven with themes of longing, impermanence and loneliness, selections from The Ink Dark
Moon sting with forbidden love and savor of bitterness, while exploring the intricately beautiful
characteristics of human emotion. Although the selected poems are brief and concise conforming to
the characteristics of brevity and succinct language in traditional ancient Japanese poetry the carefully
selected words and painstakingly constructed phrases elicit a marked emotional response in the reader.
Utilizing literary devices such as vivid descriptive imagery, metaphor and symbolism, the authors
explore piercingly poignant emotional experiences through the lens of nature and the exploration of
Buddhist ideologies.
Beginning with a stark comparison of mankind and nature, the first selection by Ono No Komachi
exemplifies the use of naturalistic themes and impermanence in ancient Japanese poetry. Komachi
contrasts hunting lanterns, (p. 41, line 1) with the mountain on which the hunting has taken place,
bringing to mind imagery of an abandoned mountain once brimming with hunters. The author utilizes
this imagery as a means through which to demonstrate the speaker s own loneliness and feelings of
abandonment after the initial excitement laden stages of love have subsided. Additionally, Komachi s
utilization of nature as a recurring motif throughout the poem exemplifies the Buddhist idea of object
impermanence. However, although impermanence related to the idea of transience and

Crying is the companion of the spirit and the cure of the soul . In life s ups and down , tears are the

Internship At National Load Despatch Centre ( Nldc ),...
ABSTRACT
Internship at National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC), Power System Operation Corporation Ltd can
be divided into two periods. In starting weeks, I get the overview of Indian power sector, understood
the Indian power grid, functions of NLDC and many technical terms but later the project Short Term
Load Forecasting(STLF) using ANN Techniques was assigned to me. I have to forecast the load for
Delhi using ANN Technique.
Load forecasting is the technique for prediction of electrical load. It is much need for a generating
company to know about the market load demand in a deregulated market for generating near to
accurate power. If the generation is not sufficient to fulfill the demand, there would be problem of
irregular supply and in case of excess generation the generating company will have to bear the loss.
There are various factors which influence the behavior of the consumer load. These factors can be
categorized as Time factor, weather, economy and random disturbances. Accurate forecasting can
maximize the profit of producers and for consumers, it can maximize their utilities. STLF plays an
important role in electric power system operation and planning. An accurate load forecasting not only
reduces the generation cost in a power system, but also provides a good principle of effective
operation. It is trained using back propagation algorithm and tested. The results obtained from neural
network are presented and the results show that the neural network based

Long, long ago, in the mystical kingdom of Muampa, there lived a rather crotchety egg who wasn t

Grumpy dumpty to stop, but all he did was egg nore them.
Oh Grumpy, don t be such a dull egg and turn that frown upside down, little Hope pleaded.

Grumpy Dumpty heartlessly said to the innocent child.
Hope sadly stomped off to the king s court to report this horrifying incident.
Oh please, oh please!! There has to be something you can do. That unegg ceptional egg is trying to
turn this kingdom into an incredibly gloomy place. We can t let this happen. We just can t!! Hope said

The king s men stared at each other in confusion.

Relationship With Customer And Client

directed to the marketing classroom or someone is called to the school office to meet with them. When
in the classroom, the customers see first hand how the product is made. They see students diligently
weeding vinyl, pressing articles of clothing, and laying banners out. This is interesting to the customer
because they like to see how their product is made. This also endears them to the marketing program
as a whole because they see the students who benefit from their purchases.

If the product was not a custom order and the customer decided that they do not like their order, they
may return the product, as long as it has not been worn. We do not give refunds, but we will give

An example of our return policy is when a customer comes back with a shirt that has vinyl lettering
coming off, we will fix the shirt since the vinyl coming off is an indicator that we did not press the
shirt long enough. We would apologize for this error and offer the customer a discount on a future
order.
Process sales documentation: At the conclusion of order, an invoice is generated in the marketing
classroom. Customers then pay our bookkeeper who in turn, gives a receipt to customers and invoices
to the marketing program. The invoices is then put on file and used to gather data, such as how much
standard inventory to buy. Students learn how to file invoices, with advisors keeping a close watch to
make sure it s done correctly. Many hands make light work and so the invoices are efficiently filed
and then the data can be combined quicker as well.

It was not until the renaissance that the ideas of Aristotle began to be disputed and people started to
accept the atomic theory of Democritus. One of the first people to speak out against Aristotle was
Francis Bacon. Bacon criticized the scientific thought of the ancients because it relied too heavily on
the philosophy behind things rather than experimental aspect of them. He did, however, side with
Democritus because the minute experimentation pointed in that direction. Another key figure in the
advancement of early atomic theory was Robert Boyle. Boyle ran experiments with gasses in pumps
and he studied the behavior of the volumes of the gasses as pressure was applied or taken away from
it. He observed that when a great pressure is applied, the volume of the gas decreases. From these
experiments he concluded that the gasses must be made up of small particle with a somewhat large
space in between them. Those particles were thought to be atoms. Another great mind, Issac Newton,
heard about Boyle s experiments, reviewed the observations, and supported Boyle s theory. After years
groundbreaking work by these great minds on Democritus theory of an indestructible, eternal atom, it
was finally accepted universally in 1895.
Now that everyone was sure that there were atoms, people could now start to learn more about them
and use them to better their daily lives. One of these men was a German scientist named Wilhelm

Acetic Acid Concentration Lab Report
In this experiment, the concentration of acetic acid in a sample of vinegar was calculated. The sample
used for the experiment was sample 4, created on 2/22/2017. The concentration was calculated by
titrating the vinegar with NaOH. Unfortunately, NaOH does not form a pure solution so its
concentration also had to be calculated. This was done by using it to titrate a solution of KHP, which
does form a pure solution. Once the concentration of NaOH was known, it could be used to calculate
the mols of acetic acid in a known volume of vinegar, giving us the concentration.
This will result in the calculated mass of acetic acid to be higher. This is because it appears that
additional NaOH was required to titrate the solution, and the mols ... Show more content on

This was done by titrating the vinegar with a base that had a calculated concentration. The final
average concentration after three trials was 0.5285% by mass. All of the measurements used were
taken to four significant figures. One potential source of error is the use of an indicator and titration.
In order to induce a change in the color of the solution, it must become slightly basic, this means that
more NaOH was added than was actually required to neutralize the acetic acid. This error would
indicate that the concentration of acetic acid was slightly higher than it really is; unfortunately, it is
unavoidable with the current experiment setup. Another problem with the titration process is that the
base can only be added in drops, limiting the precision even more. Aside from these limitations it
appears that the process yielded fairly accurate results, with only a 5.706% error when compared to

Cortical Bone Fusion
Due to a powerful corrective force in the 3 dimensional plane and improvement the stability of spinal
fusion constructs[1 3], the pedicle screw has been trusted and applied by majority of the orthopedic
and neurosurgeons. But the diameter of the thoracic pedicle is small, the thoracic spinal cord and large
vessels are adjacent to the pedicle, so the screw misplacement in thoracic has the potential for serious
complications, such as spinal cord or nerve root injury, and the inferior vena cava, the thoracic duct,
the lungs, the sympathetic chain endanger[2, 4, 5]. In an attempt to minimize these risks, multiple
techniques and difference start points have been described for placement of these implants, for

Oil Sands
In this essay I will use the social issue of oil sands and its impact on climate change to critically
compare the social order and class struggle perspectives in social theory. To examine the social order
perspective, I will use the theories of Robert Merton and Harold Garfinkel. For the class perspective
theory, I will use the theories of Pierre Bourdieu and Immanuel Wallenstein. The social order
perspective explains the social issue of climate change in terms of how the social structures of the
economy enforce and produce the ways in which people discuss climate change. Its main strength is
that it identifies how the economy is able to shape discussions and create a sense of order around the
opposing conflict of interest between the economy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Merton s theory derives from the fundamentalist perspective in which he defines manifest functions as
the easily recognizable and intended outcomes, whereas latent functions are unintended. Merton
argues the distinction between manifest and latent functions has significant value and that both
functions need to be recognized as an approach to explaining any social phenomena (Powell 2017:
Feb 15). Latent functions are not necessarily the anticipated outcome, however a closer examination
of this function can lead to a better understanding of a social relation or patterns observed (Longofer
Winchester, 2016). For instance, in applying the social issue of climate change to Merton s manifest
and latent theory, it is clear the manifest function of oil sands is for refineries to extract the oil to
produce fuel (energy source). As a result of increased reliance on oil sands as fuel, the process of
refining oil and clearing land to extract the oil from these oil sands, releases tons of pollution into the
atmosphere, creating the phenomena known as climate change. The perceived function of oil sands is
not to harmful to the environment, however; it becomes the negative consequence of the objective.
Although the manifest function does not recognize that the use of oil sands leads to an increased threat
of the environment, the latent function is able to identify the relationship. This latent function leads to
the reexamination of the use of oil sand and how our society collectively moves on about making
informed decisions regarding both the production and the rate at which we use

The art form, Ballet emerged in Italy during the Renaissance (late 1400 s) and was developed
throughout the world as history went on. Following its introduction to France, Ballet exploded and
became a very significant part of society; reaching its height in the late 1600 s under the rule of King
Louis XIV who was a great patron of the arts and the founder of the Académie Royale de Danse.
There were many eras of Ballet such as Ballet de Court (1600 s) and Ballet de action (1700 s). The
19th Century in particular saw a significant development in Ballet as part of the Romantic Era.
Following the French Revolution (1789 1799) there was a new social enlightenment and opportunity
for people push boundaries, break social norms and challenge morals and ideas. This massive shift in
society saw the beginning of the Romantic era; a period in which writers, poets, artists and dancers
had the freedom to express themselves in a way that disregarded many classical aspects of past which
focused on harmony, balance and order. This provided a new era of creations that had strong sources
of inspirations from the natural world and mythology. (Vam.ac.uk) Much like how we use theatre in
present day as an escape from everyday life; many of the romantic art forms acted as a return to nature
and the countryside that many people had left following the establishment of more urban and
industrial way of living. Ballet in particular was effected significantly by this and there were numerous
changes

Philip K Dick Research Paper
What is reality? Did the past you remember actually happen? Can you exist in two realities at once?
Are you who you think you are? Through his work, science fiction author Philip K. Dick implies that
we will all be asking such questions soon. For Dick, reality is just one of his layers. All of his novels
combined together accurately predicted the world we are in now. Philip K. Dick acts as the Charles
Dickens of science fiction in his sheer density and detail. Nearly all of his works come from the real
place, which is reality. What he sees is disintegration, dirt, corruption, and that was him; Dick looked
on the dark side of the human element saw how the dark side was romantic and incorporated those
dark corners into his books. Inside this

The State Of The Modern Vaccination Debate
Rightful Authority to Mandate Vaccines
Melanie West

Rightful Authority to Mandate Vaccines
Social Problem
State of Current Social Problem The term herd immunity became a common phrase as the debate
surrounding mandating vaccines continues to grow. The modern vaccination debate often appears to
focus on the effectiveness of vaccines as many media sources affirmed or denounced a potential
correlation between autism and vaccines. Although these stories about autism and vaccines became
headlines, the history of mandating vaccines addresses the authority of the government to distinguish
between individual concerns and the common good. The current now ultimately focuses on examining
the authority of the government to distinguish between individual concerns and the common good
rather than the effectiveness of vaccines.
History of Vaccine Mandate Debate
The current debate surrounding mandating vaccines for children to attend public school roots itself in
a deep history with a 21st century twist. A recent measles outbreak in early 2015 merely reopened this
long standing debate which now spills into the very early campaigning for the 2016 Presidential
election. The presence of this debate in the early stages of the election proves it as a compelling
controversy needing settlement through clear policies.
This recent debate often appears as a fresh controversy, but instead began over a century ago most
notably with the Supreme Court

My mother disappearing after meals and carrying around bottles of juice would always arouse my curiosity. I was too young at the time to understand the seriousness of Type I Diabetes and the constant vigilance required to manage it. Having been diagnosed at an early age, it was a controlling force of her everyday life. That changed in 1997 when my mother was selected to receive an electronic insulin pump. I was fascinated by this device. A few simple presses of a button and the proper dosage of insulin would be administered almost instantly from a preloaded vial. Four buttons and a ... These participations serve as insight and allow me to recognize opportunities and challenges as I work towards my goal of being on the other side of the table in the role of User Experience Designer. In preparation for that role, the opportunities offered by the HCDE program will be invaluable. Using BER is to calculate the performance of the transmitter, the receiver and the channel system. Figure 7 below represents the BER curve against SNR and the received signal for the default value of SNR (1:10). It is clear that the curve is not smooth and regular as result of the low value of the SNR and the error or the target number of the error. Therefore, the story ends at sequence A, where Lenny kills Jimmy the drug dealer. • 10. The Importance Of Generations You can take as much as you can from the generation that has preceded you, but then it s up to you to make something new. Jackson Browne. Generations have always had an impact on each other, but something that is big is the fact that generation now are changing more and more than the last, and while a generation like us are taught by a generation like our parents each generation isn t learning and living as much like the past. Generations described by me are what we are influenced by most with our political views, our life choices, our traditions and more. The generation before ours is what we are sculpted to be like. But what I also believe what is important about generations is three different ideas of generations. There is the actual definition of generations, what generations are supposed to be about, and what generations are actually and how they are actually defined culturally. Generations defined by google is: All of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively. Generations are what all of us at a certain time are referred to. What mass people are dealing with whether it be in the past where the generations dealt with the great depression, or in the future when the generations deal with a new president. It defined is about what the people of a certain time are dealing with collectively. • 11. Benefits Of Free Bus Rides For The Elderly Free Bus Rides for The Elderly Should the elderly receive free bus rides? This is a controversial issue that many countries are faced with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into consideration. Some people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have rights to benefit the giving back from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the other hand, some disapproval voices emerge in terms of influence on the social economy or unequal treatment between the elderly and the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly should receive free bus rides are lacking finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting public transportations. A lack of finance is the first reason that the elderly should receive free bus rides. A majority of the elderly is limited in their finance after they got retired; they are sometimes even not able to pay their fundamental living needs such as medicine and groceries. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 12% seniors are living at the poverty level, and their income become lower and lower with increasing age; therefore, they would have difficulty in their constant expenses such as healthcare, housing, food, and so on. About 14.2% of all these expenses are spent on transportation (Hawkins 2017). Spiracles also consist of valves that control the degree to which the spiracles are open. The Mens Rea element is the mental part of the crime and requires proof that the defendant was in a guilty state of mind before the defendant can be convicted of a crime. There are three different types of Mens Rea; direct and oblique intention, recklessness and negligence. Intention is differs from motive or desire. For example if defendant kills their wife who is suffering from a terminal illness, to relieve their suffering, may well act out of good motives. Interwoven with themes of longing, impermanence and loneliness, selections from The Ink Dark Moon sting with forbidden love and savor of bitterness, while exploring the intricately beautiful characteristics of human emotion. Although the selected poems are brief and concise conforming to the characteristics of brevity and succinct language in traditional ancient Japanese poetry the carefully selected words and painstakingly constructed phrases elicit a marked emotional response in the reader. Utilizing literary devices such as vivid descriptive imagery, metaphor and symbolism, the authors explore piercingly poignant emotional experiences through the lens of nature and the exploration of Buddhist ideologies. Beginning with a stark comparison of mankind and nature, the first selection by Ono No Komachi exemplifies the use of naturalistic themes and impermanence in ancient Japanese poetry. Komachi contrasts hunting lanterns, (p. 41, line 1) with the mountain on which the hunting has taken place, bringing to mind imagery of an abandoned mountain once brimming with hunters. The author utilizes this imagery as a means through which to demonstrate the speaker s own loneliness and feelings of abandonment after the initial excitement laden stages of love have subsided. Additionally, Komachi s utilization of nature as a recurring motif throughout the poem exemplifies the Buddhist idea of object impermanence. In starting weeks, I get the overview of Indian power sector, understood the Indian power grid, functions of NLDC and many technical terms but later the project Short Term Load Forecasting(STLF) using ANN Techniques was assigned to me. I have to forecast the load for Delhi using ANN Technique. Load forecasting is the technique for prediction of electrical load. It is much need for a generating company to know about the market load demand in a deregulated market for generating near to accurate power. If the generation is not sufficient to fulfill the demand, there would be problem of irregular supply and in case of excess generation the generating company will have to bear the loss. There are various factors which influence the behavior of the consumer load. These factors can be categorized as Time factor, weather, economy and random disturbances. Accurate forecasting can maximize the profit of producers and for consumers, it can maximize their utilities. STLF plays an important role in electric power system operation and planning. An accurate load forecasting not only reduces the generation cost in a power system, but also provides a good principle of effective operation. It is trained using back propagation algorithm and tested. The results obtained from neural network are presented and the results show that the neural network based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not until the renaissance that the ideas of Aristotle began to be disputed and people started to accept the atomic theory of Democritus. One of the first people to speak out against Aristotle was Francis Bacon. Bacon criticized the scientific thought of the ancients because it relied too heavily on the philosophy behind things rather than experimental aspect of them. He did, however, side with Democritus because the minute experimentation pointed in that direction. Another key figure in the advancement of early atomic theory was Robert Boyle. Boyle ran experiments with gasses in pumps and he studied the behavior of the volumes of the gasses as pressure was applied or taken away from it. He observed that when a great pressure is applied, the volume of the gas decreases. From these experiments he concluded that the gasses must be made up of small particle with a somewhat large space in between them. Those particles were thought to be atoms. Another great mind, Issac Newton, heard about Boyle s experiments, reviewed the observations, and supported Boyle s theory. After years groundbreaking work by these great minds on Democritus theory of an indestructible, eternal atom, it was finally accepted universally in 1895. Now that everyone was sure that there were atoms, people could now start to learn more about them and use them to better their daily lives. • 38. Acetic Acid Concentration Lab Report In this experiment, the concentration of acetic acid in a sample of vinegar was calculated. The sample used for the experiment was sample 4, created on 2/22/2017. The concentration was calculated by titrating the vinegar with NaOH. Unfortunately, NaOH does not form a pure solution so its concentration also had to be calculated. This was done by using it to titrate a solution of KHP, which does form a pure solution. Once the concentration of NaOH was known, it could be used to calculate the mols of acetic acid in a known volume of vinegar, giving us the concentration. This will result in the calculated mass of acetic acid to be higher. This is because it appears that additional NaOH was required to titrate the solution, and the mols ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was done by titrating the vinegar with a base that had a calculated concentration. The final average concentration after three trials was 0.5285% by mass. All of the measurements used were taken to four significant figures. One potential source of error is the use of an indicator and titration. In order to induce a change in the color of the solution, it must become slightly basic, this means that more NaOH was added than was actually required to neutralize the acetic acid. This error would indicate that the concentration of acetic acid was slightly higher than it really is; unfortunately, it is unavoidable with the current experiment setup. Another problem with the titration process is that the base can only be added in drops, limiting the precision even more. Aside from these limitations it appears that the process yielded fairly accurate results, with only a 5.706% error when compared to the industry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Oil Sands In this essay I will use the social issue of oil sands and its impact on climate change to critically compare the social order and class struggle perspectives in social theory. To examine the social order perspective, I will use the theories of Robert Merton and Harold Garfinkel. For the class perspective theory, I will use the theories of Pierre Bourdieu and Immanuel Wallenstein. The social order perspective explains the social issue of climate change in terms of how the social structures of the economy enforce and produce the ways in which people discuss climate change. Its main strength is that it identifies how the economy is able to shape discussions and create a sense of order around the opposing conflict of interest between the economy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Merton s theory derives from the fundamentalist perspective in which he defines manifest functions as the easily recognizable and intended outcomes, whereas latent functions are unintended. Merton argues the distinction between manifest and latent functions has significant value and that both functions need to be recognized as an approach to explaining any social phenomena (Powell 2017: Feb 15). Latent functions are not necessarily the anticipated outcome, however a closer examination of this function can lead to a better understanding of a social relation or patterns observed (Longofer Winchester, 2016). For instance, in applying the social issue of climate change to Merton s manifest and latent theory, it is clear the manifest function of oil sands is for refineries to extract the oil to produce fuel (energy source). As a result of increased reliance on oil sands as fuel, the process of refining oil and clearing land to extract the oil from these oil sands, releases tons of pollution into the atmosphere, creating the phenomena known as climate change. The perceived function of oil sands is not to harmful to the environment, however; it becomes the negative consequence of the objective. Although the manifest function does not recognize that the use of oil sands leads to an increased threat of the environment, the latent function is able to identify the relationship. This latent function leads to the reexamination of the use of oil sand and how our society collectively moves on about making informed decisions regarding both the production and the rate at which we use ... Following its introduction to France, Ballet exploded and became a very significant part of society; reaching its height in the late 1600 s under the rule of King Louis XIV who was a great patron of the arts and the founder of the Académie Royale de Danse. There were many eras of Ballet such as Ballet de Court (1600 s) and Ballet de action (1700 s). The 19th Century in particular saw a significant development in Ballet as part of the Romantic Era. Following the French Revolution (1789 1799) there was a new social enlightenment and opportunity for people push boundaries, break social norms and challenge morals and ideas. This massive shift in society saw the beginning of the Romantic era; a period in which writers, poets, artists and dancers had the freedom to express themselves in a way that disregarded many classical aspects of past which focused on harmony, balance and order. This provided a new era of creations that had strong sources of inspirations from the natural world and mythology. The State Of The Modern Vaccination Debate Rightful Authority to Mandate Vaccines Melanie West Wright State University Rightful Authority to Mandate Vaccines Social Problem State of Current Social Problem The term herd immunity became a common phrase as the debate surrounding mandating vaccines continues to grow. The modern vaccination debate often appears to focus on the effectiveness of vaccines as many media sources affirmed or denounced a potential correlation between autism and vaccines. Although these stories about autism and vaccines became headlines, the history of mandating vaccines addresses the authority of the government to distinguish between individual concerns and the common good. The current now ultimately focuses on examining the authority of the government to distinguish between individual concerns and the common good rather than the effectiveness of vaccines.
