QUESTION 1
 For the Music Promotion Package for an artist we can to make a Music video, Digi-pack, a
Website for the artist for our Advanced portfolio. I worked on this project with one partner Sijjal
Shafique.
 The music video was based on a single female artist who was also represented a social issue
i.e. acid attack among women. The song for the music video was Kari Kari by Qurat-ul-Ain
Balouch who is a Pakistani female singer. The genre of the song was Soul, Pop and Classical
with three types of music video Performance based, conceptual based as well as narrative
based.
 The social issues we portrayed in the music video were; rape issue, transgender rights, acid
attack victim and body image victims. We wanted to shed a light on these topic, for how long will
we stay quiet and not work for our basic human rights to survive in this male dominating
society. Breaking the taboo, we really think this should become an important part of ones
everyday discussion so these issues may be solved, holding our tongues will not do anyone any
good.
 We did a collective research on issues faced my women in our area we took some ideas from
different Pakistani dramas and movies that were based on local issues like rape, body image,
colourism and on transgender issues and harassment or domestic violence.
We sat down together and did some research to try to find more songs which depicted women
issue, like the OST of a Pakistani TV drama, "Akhri Station", "Nayi Subha "by "Priyansh
Paliwal" and "Bus Zinda"by "Subham Das" and "Kari Kari" by Quratlain baloch.
 POP: During the mid 1950's, pop music generated from popular music that
originated in its modern form in the united states The lyrics are normally based
around love or relationships • .Often bands express the unity associated with teens,
which is the main target audience for this genre.• Music genre is normally conveyed
through the video dressing and setting which follow current trends rather than
being independent.
 SOUL: Soul music (often referred to simply as soul) is a popular music
genre that originated in the African American community in the United States in
the late 1950s and early 1960s. It combines elements of African-American
gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz. Songs about love or breakup will
mostly be set in a location where it is bare and the amount of objects in the
setting is minimal. The tone is grey scale orsepia with low lightning, making
the artistsignificant.
 CLASSICAL: Having its roots from the Indian culture, Indian classical music
has two major traditions: the North Indian classical music tradition is
called Hindustani , while the South Indian expression is called Carnatic. During
the turmoils of Islamic rule period of the Indian subcontinent, the traditions
separated and evolved. into distinct forms.
This music mostly has instrumental music in it, lyrics are not often used. This
makes performing it more difficult as you have to get the attention of the
audience and make them feel emotions through instruments only.
 Soul music videos, they are dull and dark shades such as black and grey giving a
vintage look. Also In terms of costume this tends to be very conventional. Like for
the rape scenes We want the set to portray warmth, a safe haven for the
girl, tungsten lights will give that effect. Green colour in particular was chosen as
the colour green represents renewal. We tried to match the hygiene products with
the colour combination to make it look more aesthetic. The colour palette used in the
body issue scene consisted of blues and grays.
 Also like in classical music video genre the locations that we used like an open field,
bridge and amphitheater (stage).
 The lightning in the locations tend to be low lighted which we achieved indoors, but
the scenes shot outside had bright lightning for the artist due to high level of sun
light but we also balanced it with white balance and color correction on editing
 We also used props like candle symbolizes light in the darkness of life especially
individual life, illumination. All the 4 characters went through something life
changing, and they become each others light, they support each other.
Purity, Innocence, Sympathy and Spirituality are all represented by White Roses.
 For the digipak and webiste shoot Me and Sijjal went to the Lahore fort with our
class mates, Fateh and Fatima, We initially went to help them with crowd controlling
but took this as a chance to do a shoot for our digipak. I as the cinematographer
took a lot of performer pictures from different angles and locations within the fort.
 The front of the Digipak had a lot of work to do, we colour corrected the photo
Sijaal took, and made the colour match the front of the digipak, we wanted the girl to
be more visible so we doodled the background using a 0 size brush with
my graphic tablet. Then we wanted to fade out the open window and add the
same aesthetics as the front of the digipak and the poster so taking the brush
tool we created a brush stroke in black colour. To add text I used the
font, Trojan and added the Urdu line,"Suno Meri Awaz" which in English
means listen to my voice. This hid the window more. The title of the album
was, "AWAZ" (Urdu word) which means "Voice" in English. The same
font, Trojan was used.
 For the CD, we wanted the CD to be black so the sketches would pop out more,
we made some more sketches using my graphic tablet, we used props from the
music video, which portrays each of the charter. The bathtub represents the rape
character, Candle represents the Body Image character while
the lipstick represents the transgender character. The bubbles come out as paint
splashed from the bathtub which represents their stories. and go around the CD,
while the hair of the artist joins all these objects.
 For the back cover of the digipak we wanted to show that the actor overcame her
past experience, we made a doodle of the girl with a graphic tablet, we made two
sketches of the girl, one above her and one below her which signifies that the girl
moving on from one phase to another, the movement of the phases are shown by
the girls tears joining everything together. We used the brush tool to sketch the
outline of the girl. As the background was lighter We used the same paint strokes ,
we used in my poster and logo, which made the sketches pop out. Using the same
font Trajan Colour, We typed the titles of the song in the album. We also adjusted
the RGB colours, saturation, Hue and Brilliance of the picture, masking the
hair and making it lighter, the clothes brighter and the skin more sharpened to
show her scar.

  • 3.  For the Music Promotion Package for an artist we can to make a Music video, Digi-pack, a Website for the artist for our Advanced portfolio. I worked on this project with one partner Sijjal Shafique.  The music video was based on a single female artist who was also represented a social issue i.e. acid attack among women. The song for the music video was Kari Kari by Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch who is a Pakistani female singer. The genre of the song was Soul, Pop and Classical with three types of music video Performance based, conceptual based as well as narrative based.  The social issues we portrayed in the music video were; rape issue, transgender rights, acid attack victim and body image victims. We wanted to shed a light on these topic, for how long will we stay quiet and not work for our basic human rights to survive in this male dominating society. Breaking the taboo, we really think this should become an important part of ones everyday discussion so these issues may be solved, holding our tongues will not do anyone any good.  We did a collective research on issues faced my women in our area we took some ideas from different Pakistani dramas and movies that were based on local issues like rape, body image, colourism and on transgender issues and harassment or domestic violence. We sat down together and did some research to try to find more songs which depicted women issue, like the OST of a Pakistani TV drama, "Akhri Station", "Nayi Subha "by "Priyansh Paliwal" and "Bus Zinda"by "Subham Das" and "Kari Kari" by Quratlain baloch.
  • 4.  POP: During the mid 1950's, pop music generated from popular music that originated in its modern form in the united states The lyrics are normally based around love or relationships • .Often bands express the unity associated with teens, which is the main target audience for this genre.• Music genre is normally conveyed through the video dressing and setting which follow current trends rather than being independent.  SOUL: Soul music (often referred to simply as soul) is a popular music genre that originated in the African American community in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz. Songs about love or breakup will mostly be set in a location where it is bare and the amount of objects in the setting is minimal. The tone is grey scale orsepia with low lightning, making the artistsignificant.  CLASSICAL: Having its roots from the Indian culture, Indian classical music has two major traditions: the North Indian classical music tradition is called Hindustani , while the South Indian expression is called Carnatic. During the turmoils of Islamic rule period of the Indian subcontinent, the traditions separated and evolved. into distinct forms. This music mostly has instrumental music in it, lyrics are not often used. This makes performing it more difficult as you have to get the attention of the audience and make them feel emotions through instruments only.
  • 5.  Soul music videos, they are dull and dark shades such as black and grey giving a vintage look. Also In terms of costume this tends to be very conventional. Like for the rape scenes We want the set to portray warmth, a safe haven for the girl, tungsten lights will give that effect. Green colour in particular was chosen as the colour green represents renewal. We tried to match the hygiene products with the colour combination to make it look more aesthetic. The colour palette used in the body issue scene consisted of blues and grays.  Also like in classical music video genre the locations that we used like an open field, bridge and amphitheater (stage).
  • 6.  The lightning in the locations tend to be low lighted which we achieved indoors, but the scenes shot outside had bright lightning for the artist due to high level of sun light but we also balanced it with white balance and color correction on editing  We also used props like candle symbolizes light in the darkness of life especially individual life, illumination. All the 4 characters went through something life changing, and they become each others light, they support each other. Purity, Innocence, Sympathy and Spirituality are all represented by White Roses.
  • 7.  For the digipak and webiste shoot Me and Sijjal went to the Lahore fort with our class mates, Fateh and Fatima, We initially went to help them with crowd controlling but took this as a chance to do a shoot for our digipak. I as the cinematographer took a lot of performer pictures from different angles and locations within the fort.
  • 8.  The front of the Digipak had a lot of work to do, we colour corrected the photo Sijaal took, and made the colour match the front of the digipak, we wanted the girl to be more visible so we doodled the background using a 0 size brush with my graphic tablet. Then we wanted to fade out the open window and add the same aesthetics as the front of the digipak and the poster so taking the brush tool we created a brush stroke in black colour. To add text I used the font, Trojan and added the Urdu line,"Suno Meri Awaz" which in English means listen to my voice. This hid the window more. The title of the album was, "AWAZ" (Urdu word) which means "Voice" in English. The same font, Trojan was used.  For the CD, we wanted the CD to be black so the sketches would pop out more, we made some more sketches using my graphic tablet, we used props from the music video, which portrays each of the charter. The bathtub represents the rape character, Candle represents the Body Image character while the lipstick represents the transgender character. The bubbles come out as paint splashed from the bathtub which represents their stories. and go around the CD, while the hair of the artist joins all these objects.
  • 9.  For the back cover of the digipak we wanted to show that the actor overcame her past experience, we made a doodle of the girl with a graphic tablet, we made two sketches of the girl, one above her and one below her which signifies that the girl moving on from one phase to another, the movement of the phases are shown by the girls tears joining everything together. We used the brush tool to sketch the outline of the girl. As the background was lighter We used the same paint strokes , we used in my poster and logo, which made the sketches pop out. Using the same font Trajan Colour, We typed the titles of the song in the album. We also adjusted the RGB colours, saturation, Hue and Brilliance of the picture, masking the hair and making it lighter, the clothes brighter and the skin more sharpened to show her scar.
