- For their final product, the student created a music video, digipak, and website to promote the artist Yuna and her song "Broke Her" about love, relationships, and heartbreak. - The digipak uses pink and red colors to symbolize romance but also uses black to create intrigue and represent the darkness in the relationship. - The simple website focuses on social media promotion over the actual site. It includes pages for news, tour dates, and photos of the artist. - The digipak and music video relate through using images taken on the black set and editing them with effects like in the video. The website also connects through continuing the color theme across products.

2. What did we do for our final product?
• For our final product we created a music video, a digipak and a website to
promote our artist.
• The song we chose was ‘Broke Her’ by Yuna. It is from the pop genre, whereby it
explores the themes of love, relationships and a heart-break.
• For our digipak we conformed to the codes and conventions of the pop genre. For
example, the uses of colours of pink and red symbolizes romance.
• However, we also challenged the codes and conventions by subverting from it as
well. For example, the use of black connotes a sense of darkness and
danger...creating an enigma in the artist’s relationship, making the audience curious
to want to find out what it is.
• The website for our artist was however kept simple. We did this because, as were
living in a modern society of digital natives, artists now are more likely to promote
themselves on social media rather than their website.

‘Broke Her’.
To create the bold, styled font we used an
online website whereby we were able to
experiment with arrange of different styled
fonts.
The mise-en-
scene is fairly
casual, although
we wanted her
to be dressed in
high-fashion end
clothes.
However, I think
it works well like
this, as it fits
well with the
mood of the
song. The bright red neon
coloured light stands
out well from the
low-key lighting. This
therefore helps
attract the
audience’s attention
and be appeal to
them.

5. Our Website
The home page of our artists website is
very simple, with a glitch image of
Havana. The colour blue was used as it
symbolizes the sadness she is feeling after
her lover left her.
The merch page includes
a variety of merchandizes
of our artist, including
clothes, posters and
bags. To create this we
used Photoshop.

The news page includes arrange of
different events I have written as articles
about our artist. We have chosen to
include this because fans enjoy and are
keen to be kept up to date with what
their favourite artists are up to.
I also created the tour page. Here it
tells fans when and where our artist
would be performing.

8. How Does it Link?
Our digipak relates to our music video as the images used were taken inside the black
box – which is one of the locations that present in our music video. This therefore
gives the audience gratification as they are able to see the link between the two texts.
Moreover, although in the black box a neon effect was already created when we took
the images, we still used Photoshop to edit the images whereby we experimented
with filters and saturation. This was useful because last year we only used Final Cut to
edit our opening sequence, however this year we were able to use experiment with
both Final Cut and Photoshop. Additionally the contrast between the colour red - a
symbol of love and black - a symbol of darkness gives the audience a clue that
although it is a song about love, it is about a broken relationship.
Similarly, our website relates to our music video and digipak as through the similar
neon bright colours and images it allows the audience to identify our artist quickly, as
this theme is also followed in the music video as well as the merch.
