The Satirical Theme of The Princess Bride, by William Goldman
Satire with a funny twist. In the novel The Princess Bride, William Goldman satirizes both fairy tales
and the standard literary process through his characters and their actions. Westley, a poor farmer, falls
in love with the far from perfect maiden, Buttercup, but has to sail away in order to find his fortunes.
Years later, Buttercup, thinking that Westley abandoned her, is forcibly engaged to Prince
Humperdinck, a cruel and calculating man. Vizzini, Fezzik, and Inigo, three mysterious kidnappers,
abduct the princess in hopes of causing war between the great nations of Guilder and Florin. These
events and characters mirror those in a common fairy tale, but with many twists to them. The author,
William Goldman, uses both his role as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By portraying himself as an editor for the novel, Goldman interjects his personal thoughts into the
novel. In the very beginning of the novel he adds parentheses and tells the reader that he will continue
to include parenthetical references throughout the novel (46). Even though this is taboo, Goldman
gives little regard to the literary industry s rigid limitations, implying the belief that the writing
process should not be serious and structured; it should in fact be free flowing and enjoyable. Lastly,
Goldman goes on to criticize the literary process by having the ability to step outside of the fairy tale
as the editor and comment in a critical perspective. When Goldman removes a soliloquy that S.
Morgenstern had to put in this fairy tale he explains that the previous book was bombed by the critics
[because it did not include this soliloquy] and didn t [sell] beans (223). Goldman, through his writing,
implies that the literary industry is so narrow minded that they constantly attack those who disagree
with the accepted writing style. This mockery implies that the literary industry rules reflect its
inability to adjust to a changing society. By acting as both the writer and the editor, William Goldman
creates a satirical work that implicitly critiques the literary industry.
Likewise, Goldman s portrayal of his characters mocks the tropes

The True Worship of Michelangelo in the film The Agony and...
The film The Agony and the Ecstasy, 1965, is the epic portrayal of Michelangelo and Pope Julius II
based on the historical novel of the same name, by Irving Stone, published in 1961. Their working
relationship is documented as the struggle between two powerful and egocentric men. While one is the
leader of the Christian world, the other means to change the world through his art. The paradox is that
the Pope jealously believes Michelangelo to be the man that can capture the nature of God more
successfully and translate that to his followers. The film follows their warring relationship and
Michelangelo s progress on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, as well as notes the inspiration that
Michelangelo gets from God for his work on this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The viewer watches the developing relationship between Michelangelo and Pope Julius II, but their
exchanges become repetitive. Literary license has always allowed history to be changed for the sake
of plot, including the order that Michelangelo paints the ceiling as well as the age of Pope Julius II at
the time of Michelangelo s commission. Additionally, the film is unable to properly convey the
passage of time. While the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel was painted from 1508 1512, dates are hardly
mentioned in the film and the viewer is left unaware of the length of time that Michelangelo is at work
except through the graying of his hair. Towards the end of the film, Pope Julius II tells Michelangelo
that he wishes he could have been an artist, that Michelangelo is able to inspire faith in others in a way
that even the Pope cannot. The Agony and the Ecstasy portrays Michelangelo as a divine messenger a
prophet, carrying the message and images of God to the masses. Even Michelangelo s inspiration for
his paintings comes from God. The full somatic experience of the ceiling compels the participation of
the whole body in the complex action of the ceiling and, therefore, transforms the soul. Certainly,
Michelangelo s work is otherworldly in its beauty and magnificence, but must the viewer s experience
be restricted through a Judeo Christian

* We wanted to check the initiative taken by the Consumer s to fight against malpractices and its
effects?
* Does education level of people make them more aware about the unfair trade practices going in the
consumer market?
* Are people aware about consumer courts and consumer protection acts?
* Do people take the initiative to go ahead and fight against, raise voice against these malpractices?
Through our research we will try to find out all the above objectives and come to a conclusion
whether the steps and actions implemented by the government to raise the level of consumer
awareness among the masses is affective or not?
Limitations of the research * The project is not purely based on primary information but includes a lot
of information obtained from various sources.
* The sample size is small compared to the population of our country.
* The project has approximately 50% of primary data and rest of the data is secondary.
* The project is based on human assumptions and their self thinking as different persons thinking may

Consumer vs. Customer
A consumer and customer are commonly used in the same context at times in business literature.
However, they are not the same. Consumers are just one sub group of customers. Consider this

Advent Wreath Speech
The Advent Wreath
Introduction
Most have seen the greenery with the candles in December leading up to Christmas, but few know the
truth that surrounds the Advent wreath. Even though it has been used since the Middle Ages, the true
origins of the Advent wreath are unclear. There is some evidence to suggest that pre Christian
Germanic peoples would use wreaths with lit candles during the depressive December in order to
remind them of hope in the future and the days of spring with warm and sunlit filled days. By the
Middle Ages, Christians soon transformed this tradition and began to use Advent wreaths as part of the
preparation for Christmas, in the spiritual sense.
The Advent wreath is represented by a wreath, three purple candles and one rose candle for each week
of the Advent Season with a fifth white candle in the center. Each candle on the Advent wreath is
meant to represent 1,000 years. When the four candles are added together, they represent the 4,000
years, in Biblical time, between Adam and Eve to the coming of the Savior, whose birth was
prophesied in the Old Testament of the Bible. The 4,000 years that humanity had to wait for the
coming of the world s Savior is signified by those four candles. Despite the origin of the Advent
wreath, its parts, the wreath, the colored candles and the single white candle, are all the same and each
has its own specific meaning.
Body Paragraphs The first part of an Advent wreath is the wreath itself. Reverend William

Photography Art History
During the 1850s the photographic community pursued an increased activity to advance the medium s
claims as art. In England, France, Italy, Germany and the United States several societies and
publications were founded, such as the Photographic Society of London (now the Royal Photographic
Society) and the Societe Francaise de Photographie, established in 1853 and 1854 respectively, still in
existence. Numerous professional publications such as La Lumiere in Paris, the Photographic Journal
in London, and others in Italy, Germany and the United States were at the vanguard of discussions
regarding photography as a legitimate art form, promoting spaces which would included exhibitions of
photography as well as painting.
At the beginning of 1862, an article published in the Photographic Journal, by an unknown author,
summed up the discussions over photography as art, stating: the question is not whether photography
is fine art per se neither painting nor sculpture can make that claim but whether it is capable of artistic
expression; whether in the hands of a true artists its productions become works of art. A French
naturalist, Louis Figuier, also made an accurate observation in regards to photography and fine arts:
Until now, the artist has had the brush, the pencil and the burin; now, in addition, he has the
photographic lens. The lens is an instrument like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning some problems arose in terms of classification, but photographers continued in their
attempt to have their images included in the fine arts sections of the expositions, despite the indecision

the 1850s included a large amount of images that they displayed according to the conventions of the
academic painting salons, generating criticism in the press and eventual repudiation in the late

The Sound and the Fury Essay
The Sound and the Fury
Title:
The title of this novel is The Sound and the Fury. This title is derived from one of Shakespeare s most
intriguing plays, Macbeth. Within Macbeth, Shakespeare describes life as a tale told by an idiot, full of
sound and fury. And if life is a tale told by an idiot, there is justification as to of why Faulkner begins
the book through the eyes of Benjy, a thirty three year old retard.
Author:
The author of The Sound and the Fury is William Faulkner. He grew up in Oxford, Mississippi. After
dropping out of high school, Faulkner pursued his studies at the University of Mississippi. And he was
a member of England s Royal Navy in World War I. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This eventually leads him to commit suicide. He is the only character in the novel who is obsessed
with honor and sexuality. And when he can t find any love from his mother, he turns to Caddy.
Quentin does not want to forget how he handled Caddy s promiscuity because he believes that if he
were to forget the entire experience would be meaningless although he is haunted by it. And in the
end, Quentin commits suicide by drowning himself in the river.
The next major character of this novel is Jason Compson. And the third section of the book is seen
through his eyes and revolves around him. From this section, the reader learns that Jason is a selfish,
demented, and emotionless bachelor who would never give in to the idea of marriage. Jason is selfish
in that he believes that he is always right and that the world should work the way that fits him best. He
is demented in that he enjoys quarreling with people. One good example of this is when he arrives to
work late in hopes that he will have the chance to argue with his boss. And he is emotionless in that he
doesn t feel for anyone and doesn t believe in love.
The next major character found in the book is Dilsey. And although the last section is from the author
s point of view, it revolves around Dilsey, the cook for the Compson family. She treats Benjy like a
normal person and assumes that his needs are the same as the rest

The Causes Of Reconstruction In The American Civil War
After the North wins the Civil War the South was in ruins. Train tracks are demolished therefore
preventing supplies to be sent to the people living in the South, and hundreds of buildings have
collapsed. Thousands are dead or injured. Everyone knows what is coming next. Reconstruction has
just begun, but how long will it last? The Civil War ended in the year 1865 and because the North won
the war slavery was abolished. Amendments thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen have been ratified.
Amendment thirteen ended slavery. Amendment fourteen gave African Americans, American
citizenship and civil rights. The fifteenth amendment made it illegal to deny someone the right to vote
based on race. (The DBQ Project 505). Reconstruction started in 1866 through 1909. A terrorist group
called the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is a white supremacist group that was against Reconstruction and
freedom and civil rights for the African Americans. Information for this essay was used from the
newspapers Harper s Weekly, Independent Monitor, and the Boston Evening Transcript. Through
thinking the African Americans should not be in the government, paying more attention to the
government frauds than reconstruction, and the public opinion turning against reconstruction, the
North is responsible for killing reconstruction. Since the North did not want the free slaves in their
government conflicts arose and ended reconstruction. The blacks, as a people, are unfitted for the

To What Extent Was The Mexican War Justified Or Unjustified
Justified or Unjustified
Between two different people a fight over borders broke out in 1845. Some events that happened
before the Mexican War is, the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Another event was that Texas gained
Independence in 1836. Another event was the Annexation of the Oregon territory in 1846. The United
States did not have the right reasons in going to war with Mexico. The United States was not justified
in going to war with Mexico because they were land hungry, robbers, and law breakers. The United
States could have been justified, but there are many ways to give evidence with being unjustified. So
in my opinion the the United States was not justified. The first reason the Mexican War was

They were stealing things and not caring. (Doc D) They stole people s land or territories. ( Doc D)
This evidence shows that the United States was not justified in going to war with Mexico because they
stole people s awesome land. The Texans did not care what they stole, sometimes they needed
something and other times it was for revenge. The Texans were very selfish and greedy. They stole a
lot of other things. They also were not following the rules and also breaking the law.
The final reason the Mexican War was unjustified was because they brought slaves over the border.
The Texans crossed the borders without being invited. They also crossed the borders with unwanted
slaves. (Doc D) In Mexico slaves were forbidden, or illegal, but the Texans brought they over the
border anyway. The Mexicans were anti slavery. The Texans did not respect that, they were happy that
the Mexicans were unhappy and hurt. The Texans were breaking the law by bringing slaves over the
border, and the Mexicans did not like that at all. This evidence shows that the United States was not
justified in going to war with

Geologic History Of Boulder
Geologic History of Boulder Boulder has a complex geologic history. The lithology of each formation
in Boulder will be discussed along with the interpreted depositional environment explaining what we
see in the present day. Formation Lithology The oldest rock unit in Boulder is the Boulder Creek
Granodiorite which formed 1.7 billion years ago during the Precambrian period. This whitish grey,
intrusive igneous granodiorite is felsic intermediate in composition and has visible crystals of quartz,
potassium feldspar, biotite, hornblende and mica. The next formation seen is the Fountain Formation.
Fountain Formation is a poorly sorted conglomerate with clasts ranging from sand to cobbles. The
rock is maroon to pink in color with sub angular clasts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It cooled from a felsic intermediate magma which means medium silica content. After it cooled
completely, the Boulder Creek Granodiorite was uplifted to the Earth s surface due to the tectonic
forces from the Ancestral Rockies mountain building event. This caused the granodiorite to be
exposed to the surface creating a mountain like structure which allows river to form and flow
downstream. These rivers have high energy due to gravity and are able to transport big clasts of cobble
size and deposit them at the bottom of the mountain. At the bottom of the river, the energy of the
stream drops abruptly creating a poorly sorted conglomerate. As the stream continues to flow, it
carries along sand to a beach environment. Here, the Lyons Formation is formed. Beach is an ideal
environment for this formation because there a lot of sand and the oscillatory flow of the beach
created ripple marks on the Lyons sandstone. Beach is usually a windy area, so it helps with the ripple
formation and also the dry up the muddy area at the beach shore. This supports the evidence of
mudcracks that were observed in the Lyons Formation. Based on the paleocurrent data from Morrison,
CO, the wind was blowing to the East and these are the dip directions of the mudstone and sandstone
beds. From the beach environment, these sea level advanced a little bit creating a shallow marine
environment. This kind of environment supports the formation of the mudstone and sandstone where
there is slow current. The water is shallow enough for sunlight to get to the bottom for the
cyanobacteria, the earliest life on Earth, to obtain their nutrients and finally settle down in the beds
forming ridge like shape on the Lykins sandstone. With that depth of water, calcite is also able to
precipitate out the water and is trapped in the pores of the sandstone. The Entrada and

Islam And The Five Pillars Of Islam
Religious praying has been a staple in many religions to communicate to a higher being or for self
spiritual cleansing. Catholicism, for example, uses a rosary as an artifact to recite certain prayers, and
for the Jewish community they pray three times daily to observe Judaism. Islamic praying is a
different story. Muslims around the world perform the Five Pillars of Islam to appease their faith. The
Five Pillars of Islam have specific names for each pillar in chronological order; The Shahada, Salah
(also spelled Salat), Zakat, Saum, and Hajj The Salah, the second of the Five Pillars, is the Islamic
prayer performed five times a day at specific times. Performing the Salah is a way for muslims to
connect with Allah, who they regard as their one true God. The story on how Salah came to be was
from none other than the Holy Prophet Muhammad himself in which he declared that he had a vision,
or a dream, that he rode a white animal, called the Buraq, from Mecca to Jerusalem and from that
location he ascended towards heaven itself. Once arrived he was greeted by Moses who then took him
to God s presence. From there Muhammad asked God if he could shorten the daily number of prayers,
which used to be fifty, to only five per day. Because of this vision, the reason for reciting five prayers
daily came to be. It was authenticated in the Qur an as being a true circumstance, however it is not
legitimately documented in the Qur an. Before performing the Salah, a procedure is

Shortly after, the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMNL) formed to oppose the
government forces. Once the FMNL launch a full scale attack on the El Salvador government, the
United States responded by giving the government military aid. In effect, the Rapid Deployment
Infantry Battalions formed and were responsible for most of the war crimes. On November 16, 1989
the Rapid Deployment Brigade murdered eight Jesuits on the University of Central America s campus,
six of them prominent Jesuit priests. This event gained international attention and got the United
Nations involved with the situation. Slowly the civil war came to an end and FMNL demobilized their

Bruce Chatwin s What Am I Doing Here
Walking is a virtue, tourism is a deadly sin. These are some of the words uttered by Bruce Chatwin,
the famous author of the book, What Am I Doing Here.? International tourism is one of the fastest
growing industries in the word, and brings over 111 billion dollars annually in the U.S.A., and
employs 1 out of 9 people in developing countries. However, despite the fact these are impressive
statistics, and benefits, International tourism isn t without drawbacks.

one thing, International tourism can open job opportunities for the native citizens. To demonstrate,

One prominent problem is that historic sites could lose their value, and get damaged. In other words,
once a tourist visits a historic site, it s most likely he or she won t be back to that site for a long period
of time. Thus, the tourist ends up taking a small piece of wood, or anything that is related to the place
as a memory. Subsequently, if millions of people do the same, then the historic site will lose its value,
and eventually become worthless. Moreover, because of the pollutant gasses the cars, and the planes
release into the air, the tourists could contaminate the locations they visit, especially remote places,
such as islands. Secondly, the tourists might make the native inhabitants uncomfortable. To provide
explanation, because the tourists don t share the same values as the natives, worship different deities,
or cloth in an un desirable fashion the native people can end up feeling offended. Lastly, the
government might decide to focus resources on tourists rather than its citizens. This phenomenon is
largely thanks to tourism bringing a lot of revenue compared to many other industries. Therefore,
making the government spend more money on making the country tourism friendly rather than
improving the lives of the residents. To recap, international tourism can damage historic sites, offend
the natives, and result in the government focusing more on tourism.

Essay about analysis of Edmund Spenser s sonnet 67
Edmund Spenser Sonnet 67 Edmund Spenser s Sonnet 67 is one of 85 sonnets from Amoretti which
was written about his courtship of Elizabeth Boyle. Spenser and Boyle were married in 1594. Sonnet
67 uses a hunting themed metaphor common in 16th century England comparing the woman to a deer
and the man to a huntsman in pursuit. Sonnet 67 appears to have been inspired by an earlier work by
Petrarch, Rima 190, but with a different ending. In this paper we will take an in depth look at this
work, also commonly referred to as Lyke as a Huntsman . First we will take a look at a literal
interpretation of Sonnet 67. This piece begins with a huntsman in pursuit. His stalked prey, a deer, has
gotten away from him. He is tired and sick of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gentle deare returnd the selfe same way, (Spenser ll. 7) shows that the woman comes back
towards the man. Spenser uses the word deare instead of deer to allude to the metaphor of the deer
actually being a woman that he cares for very much. However, she did not return to him specifically
but just happened upon him in her search for someone or something else, Thinking to quench her
thirst at the next brooke (Spenser ll. 8). Now we will look at the second half of Sonnet 67, also in a
metaphorical sense. The woman sees that the man is no longer chasing after her There she beholding

Sought not to fly, but fearelesse still did bide: (Spencer ll.10). Spenser turns this piece around from the
original Petrarch piece here. He shows that it is the woman that is in control as opposed to the man.
He reaches out to her nervously because she has been running from him all this time and now she
seems to be encouraging and wanting his affections. He appears hopeful that his sentiments will be
well received by the woman and at the same time fearful of rejection. But she allows him to court her
now and encourages him to love her instead of playing hard to get and running off again Till I in hand

The Watchman As A Hero In Alan Moore s Watchmen
A cornerstone work in the world of graphic novels, Alan Moore s Watchmen provides a rich plot for
readers while pushing them to question the world in which they live. One such question suggested by
the text is what it means to be a hero or a good guy , and to what extent bad acts are redeemable.
Through the Comedian, Moore provides a character who skirts the line between good and evil in that
he uses aggressive methods for achieving his goals, but is still considered a hero. Furthermore, the
Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, though not the only overly violent hero, is most always cast
in a negative light, with few redeeming qualities, suggesting that the small good he does is not enough
to outweigh the bad.
The identity of the Comedian is slowly revealed through the course of the book, with several key
scenes demonstrating his twisted worldview. One of the first sources of characterization is his
attempted rape of Silk Spectre. At that point in time, no other source of identity has been given, so for
the duration of the novel, the reader must absorb all new information knowing the evil he is capable
of, and has committed. In providing a negative first impression of the Comedian, Moore forces readers
to subconsciously interpret any new information presented about him in a dark light, and in doing so,
suggests that redemption is not possible for Blake. In addition, the juxtaposition of Blake as a hero
who first appears as a rapist forces the reader to take into question

Bombardier Case Study
Why did Bombardier deliberately tap into the three member countries in the North American Free
Trade Agreement (NAFTA), instead of concentrating its work on one country? A company s decision
in the selection of the right location, is a key ingredient in a business s success. If a company selects
the wrong location, it may have inadequate access to customers, workers, transportation, materials,
and so on. Therefore, location often plays a huge role in a company s bottom line and ultimately its
success. Location strategy is a critical factor in the success or failure of a company. A good plan for
acquiring the optimal location by identifying needs and objectives, searching for, and acquiring the
best suitable location is a successful location strategy. Usually, a firm will set its goals on maximizing
opportunity while minimizing its costs and risks. (Heil, K., 2006) Trade zones, like NAFTA, allow for
companies to consider the benefits offered by the free trade zones provided under this agreement,
which are closed facilities monitored by customs services where goods can be brought without the
usual customs requirements. Bombardier, a Canadian base company and one of the World s leading
manufacturer of both planes and trains, acquired Learjet, a Wichita, Kansas based manufacturer of
luxury business jets. As NAFTA came to existence in 1994, Bombardier explored the agreement s

while some of the dots were spread (hide) in the insect, lime color will look obvious, therefore the
predator can easily catch the lighter green dots. So how many dots survive in the two color depends on
where they hide in. If lime and green color dots are both hide in cream habitat, in the contrast, lime
color dots will have less opportunity to be caught. In the contrary, if both color hides in the dark color
insects, the chance of lime being eaten will increase. For instance, we put two insects in the dessert,
one is lime grass hopper, the other is the green beetle. When the beetle is on the cream color sand, the
predator can see it easily, but if we put it on the trunk, neither we nor the predators can see it

Persuasive Essay About Sex Trafficking
Each year almost 800,000 women and young children are being trafficked across the borders. This
happens in public and private locations ( Sex ). Women and young girls all together make up 98% of
the victims of trafficking for sexual abuse. Sex trafficking is illegal in every country in the world.
Woman being held as sex slaves is the fastest growing criminal activity in the world (Globa.). During
sex trafficking; women or young girls are being forced by sex work. This can be used for exchange for
money or goods ( Sex ). Why would people do this to such innocent people that did not do anything to
them? Others are so selfish of the kind people around them. To me this does not make a bit of sense.

The Rise Of The Papacy Essay
The Rise of the Papacy There many Roman Catholics worldwide, who looks up to the Pope s
authority. The great question is, what is the foundation of the Papacy? The rise of the papacy came at a
very important time in history, after the fall of Rome. In 380 CE, Emperor Theodosius I, made Nicene
Christianity the state church of the Roman Empire. After this establishment, and the church was the
top religion in Rome, order was a must. The head of the church normally known as the bishop, now
known as the pope. What does pope mean? The word pope simply means father , and in early times
was used to refer to any important and respected Bishop. The Bishop of Rome was looked upon as the
chief judge similar to the Supreme Court. This position was suited to keep order in the church. The
first rise of the Papacy is undoubtedly to be sought for in the corruption of human nature. Catholics
believes that the papacy began with one of Jesus disciple, Peter. They hang this concept on one verse
of scripture in the Bible. The Bible declares, I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I
will build My church: and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the
kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and what every
you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. Since, Christ have put this charge on Peter many
believe the papacy started with him. While some claim that Clement was

Media Hurt Relationships
Social Media Can Hurt Relationships Nearly all communications are now done through some form of
social media. Today around seven in ten Americans use social media to connect with their friends or to
entertain themselves. In 2005 when the Pew Research Center began to track social media use, just 5%
of American adults used at least one of these platforms and by 2011 half of all Americans began to use
social media (Pew Research Center). Today 69% of the public uses some type of social media (Pew
Research Center). Social media can negatively hurt relationships because of miscommunication and
words are exchanged that normally would not be exchanged in person.
Relationships are put on the line due to social media. The Pew Research Center says that overall
reports have shown that young adults are more likely to report tension in their relationships over
technology use while just one in ten online adults 65 and older say the same (Lenhart Duggan). A girl
will not have a good first impression if a guy is on his phone the whole time while on their first date or
vice versa. Family relationships and trust will have a hard time growing if a parent communicates with
their child or a child lets their parent know something through social media. Words are exchanged that
normally would not be exchanged in person. Since social media is at our fingertips, it is easy to write

What Is The Role Of Women In The Awakening, By Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin was a fearless and bold author because her work are famous for her open minded
representation of female characters. She lived in a time period where society did not allow women to
really have a say in anything and were not allowed to be independent. Chopin was an American author
of short stories and novels and her well known works are The Awakening, The Storm and The Story of
an Hour . Chopin is considered as a role model to women who were faced with society s restrictions
and just wanted to be free. The Awakening by Kate Chopin was about the character Edna trying to find
her independence but society restrictions would get in the way. Looking at the situation of women
some centuries ago, one can hardly deny that women had permanently been discriminated: Neither
were they allowed to take part in political life, nor did they get a proper education or were granted any
kind of selfhood. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, wives were still regarded as the objects of
others rather than as the free subjects of their own fates (Fox Genovese 35). The limitations and
beliefs forced on Edna are only because of her gender. During the Victorian Era the society believed
that women were just fit to be mothers and wife. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

between men and women was too much to visualize. Chopin s demonstration of the awakening of her
character, Edna, her acknowledgement that respectable women did certainly have sexual feelings
proved too strong for many who read her novel. The society was shocked by such a compassionate
view towards the actions and emotions of the sexually aware and independent female protagonist (Fox

Why The 1930-1940 s Was The Greatest Generation
Some might say that the 1930 s and 1940 s was the greatest generation. The 1930 s started with the
Great Depression the greatest economic disaster in modern history. This generation had to deal with
great sacrifice. The stock market crashed and people were forced out of their homes, lost businesses,
lost their jobs, and had no help from the government. People that had left the farmlands to move to the
cities for employment found themselves returning to the farm to feed their families. People that were
forced to leave their homes moved into parks and abandoned lands to set up what was called
Hooverville s (Foner 2014). The bank s collapse was not the only reason for the great depression the
country lost over 26,000 businesses and those businesses that were left had to lay off workers. With all
of these people out of work no one was spending, so the lost revenue just continued to reduce the need
for companies to produce products. People blamed themselves and then the government. President
Herbert Hoover s response was uncaring and not adequate to support the American people. President

Creationism vs. Evolution Essays
Creationism vs. Evolution
This paper will focus on the huge controversy between Creationism and Evolution. I will provide two
opposing viewpoints on this subject. First, the discussion will focus on the question of why many
people believe that God created the universe and all living things.
On the other end of the spectrum, scientific information will be presented that substantiates the
evidence against the existence of God. This creationism counter argument known as evolution has its
roots in our contemporary understanding of a progressive process of natural evolution. This process
shaped the nature of all living things beginning with single cell organisms and ending with highly
complex creatures such as humanoids. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, each consecutive generation will exhibit more offspring with the more successful
trait. The phrase survival of the fittest is derived from the process of continuous adaptation and
selective survival based on most successful inherited traits. (Biographies, 2000).
Even though many people believe that the theory of evolution was Darwin s personal idea and
creation, several of his thoughts actually existed before his time. Back in time of the ancient Greeks,
the concept of life evolving came about. Two Greek philosophers,
Anaximander and Empedocles had theories stating that all animals, as well as human beings, began in
the vast waters of the earth, the oceans. From these theories, it was said that some animals left their
natural habitat, the water, and adapted to life on land. Furthermore, the Greeks wrote about natural
selection, but they did not provide a specific explanation as to how evolution would work. Because of
these already known facts, the focal point of Charles Darwin s theory was formed and an explanation
to his theory of evolution came to life (Spetner 3).
However, creationism is a contemporary adaptation of the timeless parable of the clash between Good
and Evil. The concept behind this struggle is that everything in the world cannot remain neutral and
must choose a side when in conflict. You are either on God s team or you are siding

The Moral Logic Of Survivor Guilt In The Seventh Man By...
In war, standing here rather than there can save your life but cost a buddy his. It s flukish luck, but you
feel responsible. (Sherman 153). In The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt, Nancy Sherman uses this
quote to explain the basis of survivor guilt in war. In The Seventh Man by Haruki Murakami, the
narrator failed to save his closest friend from a wave. As Sherman said in her quote, people often feel
guilty when they survive a situation that others didn t. The narrator s situation in The Seventh Man is a
perfect example of this. Despite his failure to save K., the narrator should still forgive himself.
The Seventh Man was unsuccessful in saving his childhood friend, K. In spite of his lack of success,
he should not have to live with guilt about this for his entire life. In Sherman s editorial, she states
that, Subjective guilt, associated with this sense of responsibility, is thought to be irrational because
one feels guilty despite the fact that he knows he has done nothing wrong. (Sherman 154). The
Seventh Man did not do anything wrong, therefore, if he were to feel guilt, it would be subjective. The
failure to fulfil a task due to fear or another overpowering feeling is not the same as doing something
incorrectly. The Seventh Man says, What made me do this, I m sure, was fear, a fear so overpowering
it took my voice away and set my legs to running on their own. (Murakami 138). This statement
illustrates how he desperately wanted to do the right thing and run to his friend, but his feelings and
subconscious thoughts drove him to do the opposite. This is something a person cannot be blamed for.
Therefore, it would only be reasonable for the Seventh Man to forgive himself for what occurred.
It is simple to argue that the Seventh Man should not forgive himself for failing to save K. One may
assert that the narrator could have physically warned K. by giving him a slight shove or patting him on
the back. Although this is logical, if one were to literally put him or herself in the Seventh Man s
situation, he or she would recognize the overwhelming amount of thoughts running through his head
in the moment. In The Key to Disaster Survival? Friends and Neighbors, Shankar Vedantam reports

The Mesopotamian Civilization
For 7000 years the sweltering sand of the Iraqi desert has held remnants of one the earliest known
civilization, the Mesopotamians. Since then, literary historians and scholars have uncovered myths
revealing an unforeseen buried past. These hallowed accounts have become the center focus of
explaining the early history of the Mesopotamian civilization, and the natural phenomenon s that have
existed. In particular, the Babylonian epic of creation, Enuma Elish, which served the purpose of
explaining the genesis of the universe and how people first came to inhabit it, reveals a parallelism
with the Greek s Theogony. The conquest of Mesopotamia by the Greeks in the year 331 126 BC can
be theorized as one of the potentiality for the Mesopotamian influence on the Greek s Theogony. The
influence of the Mesopotamian tradition is seen in the Greek s account of the creation myth through
parallel concepts. Although Enuma Elish and Theogony have a unique account of how the world
began, and how people first came to inhabit it, they are both analogous in the sense that these creation
myths are based on the foundation of: a successive motif whereby the newer gods overthrow the older,
the rise of an ambitious hero, and an imperfect creation.
In Theogony, and analogous to Enuma Elish, there exists a sequential motif whereby the newer gods
overthrow the older.
The rise of the hero Marduk became one of the most important conceptions in explaining the creation
of the universe and the

A Blind Man’s Gift in Carver’s Cathedral Essay
A Blind Man s Gift in Cathedral
In Raymond Carver s story, Cathedral, one man s prejudice is overcome by another man s gift. The
husband in the story is given the gift of seeing a cathedral through a blind man s eyes. The true gift
comes from the cathedral, which represents the husband s prejudice and the blind man s open
mindedness. This gift is the revelation the husband experiences while he looks at the cathedral with
his eyes still closed.
According to Anatole Broyard Cathedral is a lovely piece about a blind man who asks an acquaintance

. . . The story is about learning how to imagine and feel (103). Because Robert is so open and so
understanding, he teaches the husband to imagine and to feel like a blind man. The husband looses his
prejudice through the drawing of the cathedral because Robert guides him, not because he guides
Robert.
Robert s being open to new things impresses the husband, and this is evident when the husband and
Robert smoke cannabis together. As the story progresses, the husband gradually becomes more
comfortable with Robert and forgets his preconceived notions about him. The climax of the story
comes in the end when the husband experiences a revelation about what it is like to be a blind man.
Seeing is believing, or in this case, not seeing is believing.
As the husband starts to explain the cathedral he becomes frustrated because this is a totally new
experience for him and he does not think he is doing well. Then Robert conveniently says, Terrific.
You re doing fine. Never thought anything like this could happen in your lifetime, did you, bub? Well,
it is a strange life, we all know that. Go on now. Keep it up (Carver 1061). Robert comforts the
husband, and he inspires the husband to be open to new things just as Robert himself is.
During the story, the husband reveals his own realm of darkness when he admits to Robert, I guess I m
agnostic or something (Johnson 282). The husband realizes that he too is blind in a way. He is blind to

I think that what Prospero is doing here has much to do with the process of the Othering as a method

Others can also consider us as barbarous for not knowing our language: Prospero teaches Caliban to

to use the language of his oppressor, resorts to curses, and knows that the way to destroy Prospero is
through his books, telling Stefano and Trinculo to burn them before they kill him. These books have

Benefits Of Being An American Essay
America, a place where you make your own life choice In America, unlike some countries, they have
the right to make their own choices and with this choice they can follow their dreams. The definition
of being an American generally means that one either lives or was born in the country. However,
actually being an American goes far beyond that of the general definition. Someone can be considered
an American because of the location they live or where they were born. Though that may be true, there
are many other things that better define an American. The freedom of choice, the chance to create a
better life, embracing and accepting different cultures, and the want to defend peace and freedom
better explains what it means to be an American. One aspect of being an American is our freedom of
choice. The image of the western expansion shows an example of freedom of choice because the
American s in the picture had the choice to move to the west to expand and they did (John Gast). ...

before the incident, Amir [catches] a glimpse of Hassan s face, and describes his face as holding

The Importance Of Wireless Systems
The wireless technology recorded the magnificent growth since its foundation as the result there has
been an surprise growth in the number of users using wireless all over the world during the last
decade. As the number of user increases, the system operators regularly deploy smaller cells to
increase the system capacity. As the cell size reduces, the crossing of cell boundary increases which
results, a higher handoff rate. Handoff process enables a cellular system to provide such a facility by
transferring an active call from one cell to another. Further, in addition to voice communication the

The Issue Of Insider Outsider
In terms of the theoretical issues in qualitative research, the issue of insider outsider has arisen as one
of the debated topics for some recent scholars (e.g. Kanuha, 2000; Dwyer and Buckle, 2009).
Historically, social researchers commonly agreed with the separation of facts and values and the
interdiction on employing values in assessing of truth permit research becoming objective (David and
Sutton, 2004:17). Here an objective research refers to researcher objectively eliminate their own gaze
in the course or research. In this sense, researchers should be acted as an outsider who common
attributes are shared by the research participants. Acknowledged by Fay (1996) that qualitative
researchers as not being an insider during research are beneficial in term of assisting the understanding
of the researched group, he further proposed that researchers as an outsider might be more sufficiently
conceived the experience from the researched, might be more capable to recognise the broader
perspective, and might be more obviously to view what is happening, since researchers as an insider
are frequently intertwined with their own knowledge (Fay, 1996). Among the three chosen studies,
Mandiuc (2014) s study can be considered as an example of outsider researcher since she did not
clearly explained whether she has any experiences of motherhood and/or on prostitution.
Yet, social researchers nowadays have increasingly deemed that the qualitative researchers should be

Why Recreational Hunting Of Western Canada Is Morally...
In his letter titled Why Recreational Hunting in Western Canada is Morally Justified, Sven states that
he is arguing for responsible hunting where the primary benefits are the pleasure of hunting animals in
the wilderness and eating their meat. Despite several strengths, his weaknesses in reasoning outweigh
the few positives. Thus, the letter s overall worth is negligible. The letter s weaknesses in reasoning lie
in Sven s central justifications for recreational hunting, being human pleasure and eating meat, in his
supporting argument for animal suffering, and in his failure to define recreational hunting s necessity.
To begin, I will address the strengths of Sven s letter. The first strength is that Sven defines his
argument s parameters, allowing him to eliminate several counterarguments against his claim. Sven
specifies that the hunting type he argues for does not include killing for protection or sustenance, nor
negligent hunting practices that promote needless harm to humans, property, or wildlife. Additionally,
Sven rejects using bait or vehicles. Sven s most significant strength is when he defines the moral
relationship between humans and animals, stating, [a]nimals deserve respect, but so do humans, and
when there is conflict of interests, the interest that humans have in feeding their families must prevail.
Stuart Rachels, in his evaluation of Utilitarianism, argues that humans are special in many ways but
are not the only beings capable of suffering, and thus

Melina Marchetta, reflects my sense of Australian identity through it s representation of Australian
masculinity in the depiction of Dominic Finch Mackee as the archetypal Aussie Battler.

Throughout the novel, Dominic s heavy, and eventually unhealthy dependence on alcohol is talked
about. After the death of Joe, Dominic drinks himself to oblivion. This display of Dominic s reliance
on alcohol reflects the idea of an Aussie Battler, a person who deals with adversity in the
unconventional way of drinking alcohol instead of talking about it.
Through characterisation, Dominic Finch Mackee can be read as a representation of Australian
masculinity through his depiction as the archetypal Aussie Battler. This contrasts to the representation
of my sense of Australian identity in First Dance, a short story by Penelope Rowe which depicts
alcohol, sexual violence and the pack mentality as elements of Australian adolescent masculinity.
As an Australian, my sense of identity in terms of adolescent masculinity is that there is a definite
nature of sexual aggression, alcoholism and a pack like mentality. In First Dance, my sense of identity
is reflected through the characterisation of the adolescent men. In the short story, the group of teenage
boys exhibit a pack. Roy the natural born leader of the group, keeps his boys in order and makes sure
they didn t get out of line, depriving them of attention. The rest of the group, looked up to Roy, relying
on him. This structure of the group of teenage boys likens them to a wolf pack Roy being the alpha
male with an unspoken hierarchy in the remainder of the

President Presidential Debates And Vice President s Views...
It was a great experience to watch vice presidential debates as it was different from presidential
debates. Also, was engaging to see what will be different from presidents to vice presidents. As I
watched vice president debates after third presidential debate, I can say that topics were same. They
were discussing topics about immigration, Syria, Russia, economy and education. I did not like that
vice presidents interrupted each other a lot of times, but overall, it was a very cognitive and open
debate.
The first topic was about economic issues and vice president s views about our economy. The reporter
has asked the first question about their explanation of a fact that non partisan committees said neither
of their economic plans will reduce the national debt. Pence started by stating that he has done an
excellent job as a governor with balanced budget. Republicans plan is to cut taxes and improve the
education. They believe cutting taxes will help US economy to move again. Also, he has stated the
willingness of repealing Obama Care since it does not work as it is right now. According to Pence,
when they will get the economy growing, only after they can deal with the national debt. Kiane
brought the 5 components plan that they are planning to make. It consists of investing in
manufacturing, investing in work force, making colleges debt free, promoting fairness, promoting
small business growth, and raising taxes. In my opinion, democrats already have a clear plan, on the

Woman Hating
Dworkin writes scathingly on footbinding in her book Woman Hating, alleging that in obtaining a
crippled wife, a man glories in her agony, he adores her deformity, he annihilates her freedom, he will
have her as a sex object, even if he must destroy the bones in her feet to do it. Brutality, sadism, and
oppression emerge as the substantive core of the romantic ethos. (Dworkin 112). Jeffreys quotes the
above from Dworkin in her own analysis of feet binding, ultimately concluding that foot binding was
the nascent precursor of a wave of prostitution which swept China. Indeed, Jeffreys adopts the
dominate theory posited by John Mao, prefacing that Women were dragooned into binding their
daughters feet, despite knowing the pain it would cause, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their arguments only point out how women are incapacitated or used as objects. However, as Brown s
field study showed, this analysis fails to comprehensively address causative forces of male dominance
from an economic standpoint. Though they are right in identifying male lust as the driving force
behind the subjugation of women, what is misunderstood are the consequences of such lust, which do
not cease with direct harm or objectification of women. By engaging in beauty practices, women are
not only rendered playthings, which is what the three seem to suggest, but are additionally retooled to
fit subservient economic roles, which serve to heighten and establish the hierarchal dominance of
men. Applying this economic perspective provides greater resolution and understanding of patriarchal
hierarchies. As Karen A. Callaghan observes in her introduction to the anthology Ideals of Feminine
Beauty: Philosophical, Social, and Cultural Dimensions, The gender hierarchy is sustained by beauty
norms that define women s power, self assertion and worth in terms that reify male dominance.
(Callaghan ix). Understanding the consolidation of male dominance necessitates defining these
hierarchies in a way that describes how female subservience is produced. It is important to note that
these hierarchies are multifaceted and exist as political, social,

Antibiotic Action Plan
The White House has released a plan with specific actions for the Federal departments and agencies to
help stop the rise of antibiotic resistances in bacteria. Antibiotics are very important for society. With
antibiotics it saves millions of people over the world. Treating bacterial infections and performing
chemotherapy, surgery, dialysis, and organ transplantation will become more difficult due to these
bacteria.
This bacteria causes an estimate of 23000 deaths and 2 millions illness in the United States each year.
Not only do they affect us but, they affect animal health, agriculture and, the economy. Potentially
thousands of lives would be saved with the National Action Plan. with this plan it suggests that for the
next 5 years it will help prevent major breakouts of the bacteria, and create new diagnostics,
antibiotics, vaccines, and other therapeutics. With this plan the federal funding for reducing antibiotic

Reservation Blues Summary
In the story of reservation blues by sherman alexie the opening chapter starts off with the literary
device of foreshadowing. In the one hundred and eleven years since the creation of the spokane indian
reservation in 1881, not one person, indian or otherwise, had arrived there by accident. Wellpinit, the
only town the reservation, did not exist on most maps, so the black stranger surprised the whole tribe
when he appeared with nothing more than the suit he wore and guitar slung over his back. (pg.1
Alexie, S. (2014). Reservation blues. Grove Press) The opening scene in this chapter gave me the feel
of an mystical spooky setting. This lead me to believe that this character Robert Johnson would have a
big part in this story. Robert johnson is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biggest impact throughout this whole story to me was the guitar. The guitar took a huge toll on its
owners life. It led the owner into temptations of fame and the sacrifices that must be made to retrieve
it. The guitar being an instrument also acts like its own person. It gives off a grand amount of negative
energy. I feel as if sherman alexie used his text to put across a point of how people cherish fame and
fortune too much. His story put off that cheaters never win feel. The overall theme i recieved from this
book is the power of music.he connects it through all characters in the book. i would say that because
of How he used his characters Robert and Victor they both wanted to be the best blues players in the
world they seeked it so much that they were willing to give up their souls for it. Not knowing the
mistake they ve made is where the cheaters never win theme comes in. (pg.6 Alexie, S. (2014).

a disease that he can t get rid of tying cancer to the hollywood syndrome he catches from the fame.

Film Analysis Of The Movie Inception
The film Inception captured the imagination of many spectators as one of the best science fiction and
thriller movies to be produced that year. It was produced and directed by Christopher Nolan who also
directed The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. Inception is based on the basic inspiration that a
single idea in an individual s mind can be either the most valuable asset or the most dangerous
weapon.
Inception is a science fiction thriller movie. This genre deals with situations and technology that
would be classified as scientific, but does not exist in real life. Inception connects with this because of
the technology they used to enter the dreams. Although it was never explained, the machine seems to
pump somnacin into the body. Somnacin is a drug utilized to initiate dream sharing and lucid
dreaming. The movie is also classified as a thriller because of the exciting plot. It has intense chase
scenes, gun fire, explosions, and fight scenes all within the dream state. The expectation for the movie
based on the trailer would be constant action. It seems that the main character is away from his family
and is trying to get home, but the only way he can is to do one last job. In the trailer the statement your
mind is the scene of the crime is shown, this indicates that most of the content will be in the dreams of
the subject.
Inception is about as many as four levels of dreams within dreams, and dreams that eclipse reality.
There seem to be two themes discussed in

Another Greek mythology slot
Launched on September 6, Rival Gaming s new Rise of Poseidon slot machine game takes us right

Players are going to be able to select their own coin values (which rise upwards from 0.01), and they
can select up to 10 coins per line if they wish. Paylines are also adjustable either via the tridents at the
sides of the reels, or the select lines button below them. At its cheapest, the slot has a floor bet which
costs 0.01 per line, per spin. From there, the only way is up.
Watery wilds
The Rise of Poseidon slot contains wild symbols which offer 2x multipliers. Whenever a wild symbol
appears in a winning combination, it will double the value of that combination. As well as that, it can
substitute for all other symbols in the slot with the exception of the Trident scatter symbol.
Scatter icons take on the shape of Poseidon s Trident. These symbols can trigger a free spins feature
when 3 or more appear anywhere on the reels. Players can also pocket scattered wins for their efforts
with these symbols.
Fun filled free spins
The free spins bonus in this game is easily one of the Rise of Poseidon slot bonuses which we admire
the most. Players will either begin with 9, 18, or 36 free spins, depending on whether they land 3, 4 or
5 scatters in the base game. During the feature, the Poseidon wild symbol will expand on the first,
second, and third reels. This can really bolster your wins when playing the feature in this

Mery Research Paper
It seems that Mery is wearing a long kilt upon which few inscriptions are still preserved. The
inscriptions on the two sides of the seat are better preserved comparing to those of the kilt. Even
though few of the words are missing on the seat s sides but what remains of the inscriptions are of
high quality and deserves a closer examination. The back of the statue is plain with no decoration or
inscriptions on it. The inscriptions mention several deities such as Amun, Hathor, and the Ennead.
The Inscriptions:

Decrease In Violent Crimes In England
In England the statistics on violent crimes and sexual offences show a positive picture of steady long
term decline in violent crimes over the past twenty years (Eisenstat 1999) . In England the number of
violent crimes has fallen from 3.8 million in 1995 to about 1.3 million in 2013. Even though there has
been a drop in domestic violence, it still remains a problem in the world today. Women are more
commonly known for being victims of domestic violence. There is a percentage of twenty two percent
that are abused by non sexual partners, twenty one percent of stalking, and twenty percent experience
sexual abuse (Eisenstat 1999) Men also experience stalking at ten percent and non sexual partner s
abuse at nine percent. In the United States

One Day Analysis
In June, 2003 Kaimana, a girl that loves to walk on the beach, took a stroll on her favorite beach. She
loves to walk on the beach because she like the feel on the sand in between her toes. She likes the
breeze blowing in her hair and the view of the water. While she was walking, she found a glass bottle,
with a light brown cork as the cover. She opened it, and a message flew out of it.
It said, There is an underwater island, in the middle of the ocean, I need someone to find it and rise it
so that the sun and the moon is balanced. She didn t understand what the message meant, but she
thinks it s a great challenge, and she loves challenges. This challenge would show that she is a risk
taker. So, she went home and packed clothes, rope, and other supplies. She put comfortable clothes on,

They know this because the on the back of the message, the key was half way from the island. Before,
they can start their journey to the island, they have to get a good sleep. So, they went to the bottom of

Kaimana was relieved that she could sleep. Afterall, she did kill two of the three sharks swam to the
bottom of the ocean.
It was morning and Keohi got fish and put it over a fire he made with a lighter he had and pieces of
paper. He cooked it in a pot he found on the boat. Kaimana got up to the amazing smell of fish. They
ate and rest their stomachs for about 15 minutes. On the wait, they talked about what is going to
happen when they find the island.
Kaimana said, I am going to make sure the moon and sun are balanced.
But, she still doesn t know what the island does that makes the moon and sun

  • 3. The Satirical Theme of The Princess Bride, by William Goldman Satire with a funny twist. In the novel The Princess Bride, William Goldman satirizes both fairy tales and the standard literary process through his characters and their actions. Westley, a poor farmer, falls in love with the far from perfect maiden, Buttercup, but has to sail away in order to find his fortunes. Years later, Buttercup, thinking that Westley abandoned her, is forcibly engaged to Prince Humperdinck, a cruel and calculating man. Vizzini, Fezzik, and Inigo, three mysterious kidnappers, abduct the princess in hopes of causing war between the great nations of Guilder and Florin. These events and characters mirror those in a common fairy tale, but with many twists to them. The author, William Goldman, uses both his role as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By portraying himself as an editor for the novel, Goldman interjects his personal thoughts into the novel. In the very beginning of the novel he adds parentheses and tells the reader that he will continue to include parenthetical references throughout the novel (46). Even though this is taboo, Goldman gives little regard to the literary industry s rigid limitations, implying the belief that the writing process should not be serious and structured; it should in fact be free flowing and enjoyable. Lastly, Goldman goes on to criticize the literary process by having the ability to step outside of the fairy tale as the editor and comment in a critical perspective. When Goldman removes a soliloquy that S. Morgenstern had to put in this fairy tale he explains that the previous book was bombed by the critics [because it did not include this soliloquy] and didn t [sell] beans (223). Goldman, through his writing, implies that the literary industry is so narrow minded that they constantly attack those who disagree with the accepted writing style. This mockery implies that the literary industry rules reflect its inability to adjust to a changing society. By acting as both the writer and the editor, William Goldman creates a satirical work that implicitly critiques the literary industry. Likewise, Goldman s portrayal of his characters mocks the tropes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The True Worship of Michelangelo in the film The Agony and... The film The Agony and the Ecstasy, 1965, is the epic portrayal of Michelangelo and Pope Julius II based on the historical novel of the same name, by Irving Stone, published in 1961. Their working relationship is documented as the struggle between two powerful and egocentric men. While one is the leader of the Christian world, the other means to change the world through his art. The paradox is that the Pope jealously believes Michelangelo to be the man that can capture the nature of God more successfully and translate that to his followers. The film follows their warring relationship and Michelangelo s progress on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, as well as notes the inspiration that Michelangelo gets from God for his work on this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The viewer watches the developing relationship between Michelangelo and Pope Julius II, but their exchanges become repetitive. Literary license has always allowed history to be changed for the sake of plot, including the order that Michelangelo paints the ceiling as well as the age of Pope Julius II at the time of Michelangelo s commission. Additionally, the film is unable to properly convey the passage of time. While the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel was painted from 1508 1512, dates are hardly mentioned in the film and the viewer is left unaware of the length of time that Michelangelo is at work except through the graying of his hair. Towards the end of the film, Pope Julius II tells Michelangelo that he wishes he could have been an artist, that Michelangelo is able to inspire faith in others in a way that even the Pope cannot. The Agony and the Ecstasy portrays Michelangelo as a divine messenger a prophet, carrying the message and images of God to the masses. Even Michelangelo s inspiration for his paintings comes from God. The full somatic experience of the ceiling compels the participation of the whole body in the complex action of the ceiling and, therefore, transforms the soul. Certainly, Michelangelo s work is otherworldly in its beauty and magnificence, but must the viewer s experience be restricted through a Judeo Christian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Advent Wreath Speech The Advent Wreath Introduction Most have seen the greenery with the candles in December leading up to Christmas, but few know the truth that surrounds the Advent wreath. Even though it has been used since the Middle Ages, the true origins of the Advent wreath are unclear. There is some evidence to suggest that pre Christian Germanic peoples would use wreaths with lit candles during the depressive December in order to remind them of hope in the future and the days of spring with warm and sunlit filled days. By the Middle Ages, Christians soon transformed this tradition and began to use Advent wreaths as part of the preparation for Christmas, in the spiritual sense. The Advent wreath is represented by a wreath, three purple candles and one rose candle for each week of the Advent Season with a fifth white candle in the center. Each candle on the Advent wreath is meant to represent 1,000 years. When the four candles are added together, they represent the 4,000 years, in Biblical time, between Adam and Eve to the coming of the Savior, whose birth was prophesied in the Old Testament of the Bible. The 4,000 years that humanity had to wait for the coming of the world s Savior is signified by those four candles. Despite the origin of the Advent wreath, its parts, the wreath, the colored candles and the single white candle, are all the same and each has its own specific meaning. In England, France, Italy, Germany and the United States several societies and publications were founded, such as the Photographic Society of London (now the Royal Photographic Society) and the Societe Francaise de Photographie, established in 1853 and 1854 respectively, still in existence. Numerous professional publications such as La Lumiere in Paris, the Photographic Journal in London, and others in Italy, Germany and the United States were at the vanguard of discussions regarding photography as a legitimate art form, promoting spaces which would included exhibitions of photography as well as painting. At the beginning of 1862, an article published in the Photographic Journal, by an unknown author, summed up the discussions over photography as art, stating: the question is not whether photography is fine art per se neither painting nor sculpture can make that claim but whether it is capable of artistic expression; whether in the hands of a true artists its productions become works of art. A French naturalist, Louis Figuier, also made an accurate observation in regards to photography and fine arts: Until now, the artist has had the brush, the pencil and the burin; now, in addition, he has the photographic lens. Within Macbeth, Shakespeare describes life as a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. And if life is a tale told by an idiot, there is justification as to of why Faulkner begins the book through the eyes of Benjy, a thirty three year old retard. Quentin does not want to forget how he handled Caddy s promiscuity because he believes that if he were to forget the entire experience would be meaningless although he is haunted by it. And in the end, Quentin commits suicide by drowning himself in the river. The next major character of this novel is Jason Compson. And the third section of the book is seen through his eyes and revolves around him. From this section, the reader learns that Jason is a selfish, demented, and emotionless bachelor who would never give in to the idea of marriage. Jason is selfish in that he believes that he is always right and that the world should work the way that fits him best. He is demented in that he enjoys quarreling with people. One good example of this is when he arrives to work late in hopes that he will have the chance to argue with his boss. And he is emotionless in that he doesn t feel for anyone and doesn t believe in love. The next major character found in the book is Dilsey. Train tracks are demolished therefore preventing supplies to be sent to the people living in the South, and hundreds of buildings have collapsed. Thousands are dead or injured. Everyone knows what is coming next. Reconstruction has just begun, but how long will it last? The Civil War ended in the year 1865 and because the North won the war slavery was abolished. The fifteenth amendment made it illegal to deny someone the right to vote based on race. (The DBQ Project 505). Reconstruction started in 1866 through 1909. A terrorist group called the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is a white supremacist group that was against Reconstruction and freedom and civil rights for the African Americans. The lithology of each formation in Boulder will be discussed along with the interpreted depositional environment explaining what we see in the present day. Formation Lithology The oldest rock unit in Boulder is the Boulder Creek Granodiorite which formed 1.7 billion years ago during the Precambrian period. This whitish grey, intrusive igneous granodiorite is felsic intermediate in composition and has visible crystals of quartz, potassium feldspar, biotite, hornblende and mica. The next formation seen is the Fountain Formation. Fountain Formation is a poorly sorted conglomerate with clasts ranging from sand to cobbles. The rock is maroon to pink in color with sub angular clasts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It cooled from a felsic intermediate magma which means medium silica content. After it cooled completely, the Boulder Creek Granodiorite was uplifted to the Earth s surface due to the tectonic forces from the Ancestral Rockies mountain building event. This caused the granodiorite to be exposed to the surface creating a mountain like structure which allows river to form and flow downstream. These rivers have high energy due to gravity and are able to transport big clasts of cobble size and deposit them at the bottom of the mountain. At the bottom of the river, the energy of the stream drops abruptly creating a poorly sorted conglomerate. As the stream continues to flow, it carries along sand to a beach environment. Here, the Lyons Formation is formed. Beach is an ideal environment for this formation because there a lot of sand and the oscillatory flow of the beach created ripple marks on the Lyons sandstone. Beach is usually a windy area, so it helps with the ripple formation and also the dry up the muddy area at the beach shore. This supports the evidence of mudcracks that were observed in the Lyons Formation. Based on the paleocurrent data from Morrison, CO, the wind was blowing to the East and these are the dip directions of the mudstone and sandstone beds. From the beach environment, these sea level advanced a little bit creating a shallow marine environment. This kind of environment supports the formation of the mudstone and sandstone where there is slow current. The water is shallow enough for sunlight to get to the bottom for the cyanobacteria, the earliest life on Earth, to obtain their nutrients and finally settle down in the beds forming ridge like shape on the Lykins sandstone. With that depth of water, calcite is also able to precipitate out the water and is trapped in the pores of the sandstone. The Entrada and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Islam And The Five Pillars Of Islam Religious praying has been a staple in many religions to communicate to a higher being or for self spiritual cleansing. Catholicism, for example, uses a rosary as an artifact to recite certain prayers, and for the Jewish community they pray three times daily to observe Judaism. Islamic praying is a different story. Muslims around the world perform the Five Pillars of Islam to appease their faith. The Five Pillars of Islam have specific names for each pillar in chronological order; The Shahada, Salah (also spelled Salat), Zakat, Saum, and Hajj The Salah, the second of the Five Pillars, is the Islamic prayer performed five times a day at specific times. Performing the Salah is a way for muslims to connect with Allah, who they regard as their one true God. The story on how Salah came to be was from none other than the Holy Prophet Muhammad himself in which he declared that he had a vision, or a dream, that he rode a white animal, called the Buraq, from Mecca to Jerusalem and from that location he ascended towards heaven itself. Once arrived he was greeted by Moses who then took him to God s presence. From there Muhammad asked God if he could shorten the daily number of prayers, which used to be fifty, to only five per day. Because of this vision, the reason for reciting five prayers daily came to be. It was authenticated in the Qur an as being a true circumstance, however it is not legitimately documented in the Qur an. Before performing the Salah, a procedure is ... One prominent problem is that historic sites could lose their value, and get damaged. In other words, once a tourist visits a historic site, it s most likely he or she won t be back to that site for a long period of time. Thus, the tourist ends up taking a small piece of wood, or anything that is related to the place as a memory. Subsequently, if millions of people do the same, then the historic site will lose its value, and eventually become worthless. Moreover, because of the pollutant gasses the cars, and the planes release into the air, the tourists could contaminate the locations they visit, especially remote places, such as islands. Secondly, the tourists might make the native inhabitants uncomfortable. To provide explanation, because the tourists don t share the same values as the natives, worship different deities, or cloth in an un desirable fashion the native people can end up feeling offended. Lastly, the government might decide to focus resources on tourists rather than its citizens. This phenomenon is largely thanks to tourism bringing a lot of revenue compared to many other industries. • 16. Essay about analysis of Edmund Spenser s sonnet 67 Edmund Spenser Sonnet 67 Edmund Spenser s Sonnet 67 is one of 85 sonnets from Amoretti which was written about his courtship of Elizabeth Boyle. Spenser and Boyle were married in 1594. Sonnet 67 uses a hunting themed metaphor common in 16th century England comparing the woman to a deer and the man to a huntsman in pursuit. Sonnet 67 appears to have been inspired by an earlier work by Petrarch, Rima 190, but with a different ending. In this paper we will take an in depth look at this work, also commonly referred to as Lyke as a Huntsman . First we will take a look at a literal interpretation of Sonnet 67. The gentle deare returnd the selfe same way, (Spenser ll. 7) shows that the woman comes back towards the man. However, she did not return to him specifically but just happened upon him in her search for someone or something else, Thinking to quench her thirst at the next brooke (Spenser ll. 8). Now we will look at the second half of Sonnet 67, also in a metaphorical sense. The woman sees that the man is no longer chasing after her There she beholding me with mylder looke, (Spenser ll. 9) and suddenly decides he might not be such a bad suitor after all Sought not to fly, but fearelesse still did bide: (Spencer ll.10). Spenser turns this piece around from the original Petrarch piece here. He shows that it is the woman that is in control as opposed to the man. He reaches out to her nervously because she has been running from him all this time and now she seems to be encouraging and wanting his affections. He appears hopeful that his sentiments will be well received by the woman and at the same time fearful of rejection. But she allows him to court her now and encourages him to love her instead of playing hard to get and running off again Till I in hand her yet halfe trembling tooke, / And with her owne goodwill hir fyrmely tyde (Spenser ll. 11 and 12). • 18. The Watchman As A Hero In Alan Moore s Watchmen A cornerstone work in the world of graphic novels, Alan Moore s Watchmen provides a rich plot for readers while pushing them to question the world in which they live. One such question suggested by the text is what it means to be a hero or a good guy , and to what extent bad acts are redeemable. Through the Comedian, Moore provides a character who skirts the line between good and evil in that he uses aggressive methods for achieving his goals, but is still considered a hero. Furthermore, the Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, though not the only overly violent hero, is most always cast in a negative light, with few redeeming qualities, suggesting that the small good he does is not enough to outweigh the bad. The identity of the Comedian is slowly revealed through the course of the book, with several key scenes demonstrating his twisted worldview. One of the first sources of characterization is his attempted rape of Silk Spectre. At that point in time, no other source of identity has been given, so for the duration of the novel, the reader must absorb all new information knowing the evil he is capable of, and has committed. In providing a negative first impression of the Comedian, Moore forces readers to subconsciously interpret any new information presented about him in a dark light, and in doing so, suggests that redemption is not possible for Blake. In addition, the juxtaposition of Blake as a hero who first appears as a rapist forces the reader to take into question ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Bombardier Case Study Why did Bombardier deliberately tap into the three member countries in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), instead of concentrating its work on one country? A company s decision in the selection of the right location, is a key ingredient in a business s success. If a company selects the wrong location, it may have inadequate access to customers, workers, transportation, materials, and so on. Therefore, location often plays a huge role in a company s bottom line and ultimately its success. Location strategy is a critical factor in the success or failure of a company. A good plan for acquiring the optimal location by identifying needs and objectives, searching for, and acquiring the best suitable location is a successful location strategy. Usually, a firm will set its goals on maximizing opportunity while minimizing its costs and risks. (Heil, K., 2006) Trade zones, like NAFTA, allow for companies to consider the benefits offered by the free trade zones provided under this agreement, which are closed facilities monitored by customs services where goods can be brought without the usual customs requirements. Bombardier, a Canadian base company and one of the World s leading manufacturer of both planes and trains, acquired Learjet, a Wichita, Kansas based manufacturer of luxury business jets. Chopin is considered as a role model to women who were faced with society s restrictions and just wanted to be free. The Awakening by Kate Chopin was about the character Edna trying to find her independence but society restrictions would get in the way. Looking at the situation of women some centuries ago, one can hardly deny that women had permanently been discriminated: Neither were they allowed to take part in political life, nor did they get a proper education or were granted any kind of selfhood. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, wives were still regarded as the objects of others rather than as the free subjects of their own fates (Fox Genovese 35). The 1930 s started with the Great Depression the greatest economic disaster in modern history. This generation had to deal with great sacrifice. The stock market crashed and people were forced out of their homes, lost businesses, lost their jobs, and had no help from the government. People that had left the farmlands to move to the cities for employment found themselves returning to the farm to feed their families. On the other end of the spectrum, scientific information will be presented that substantiates the evidence against the existence of God. This creationism counter argument known as evolution has its roots in our contemporary understanding of a progressive process of natural evolution. Because of this, each consecutive generation will exhibit more offspring with the more successful trait. The phrase survival of the fittest is derived from the process of continuous adaptation and selective survival based on most successful inherited traits. (Biographies, 2000). Even though many people believe that the theory of evolution was Darwin s personal idea and creation, several of his thoughts actually existed before his time. Back in time of the ancient Greeks, the concept of life evolving came about. Two Greek philosophers, Anaximander and Empedocles had theories stating that all animals, as well as human beings, began in the vast waters of the earth, the oceans. From these theories, it was said that some animals left their natural habitat, the water, and adapted to life on land. Furthermore, the Greeks wrote about natural selection, but they did not provide a specific explanation as to how evolution would work. Because of these already known facts, the focal point of Charles Darwin s theory was formed and an explanation to his theory of evolution came to life (Spetner 3). However, creationism is a contemporary adaptation of the timeless parable of the clash between Good and Evil. • 27. The Moral Logic Of Survivor Guilt In The Seventh Man By... In war, standing here rather than there can save your life but cost a buddy his. It s flukish luck, but you feel responsible. (Sherman 153). In The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt, Nancy Sherman uses this quote to explain the basis of survivor guilt in war. In The Seventh Man by Haruki Murakami, the narrator failed to save his closest friend from a wave. As Sherman said in her quote, people often feel guilty when they survive a situation that others didn t. The narrator s situation in The Seventh Man is a perfect example of this. Despite his failure to save K., the narrator should still forgive himself. The Seventh Man was unsuccessful in saving his childhood friend, K. In spite of his lack of success, he should not have to live with guilt about this for his entire life. In Sherman s editorial, she states that, Subjective guilt, associated with this sense of responsibility, is thought to be irrational because one feels guilty despite the fact that he knows he has done nothing wrong. (Sherman 154). The Seventh Man did not do anything wrong, therefore, if he were to feel guilt, it would be subjective. The failure to fulfil a task due to fear or another overpowering feeling is not the same as doing something incorrectly. The Seventh Man says, What made me do this, I m sure, was fear, a fear so overpowering it took my voice away and set my legs to running on their own. (Murakami 138). This statement illustrates how he desperately wanted to do the right thing and run to his friend, but his feelings and subconscious thoughts drove him to do the opposite. This is something a person cannot be blamed for. Therefore, it would only be reasonable for the Seventh Man to forgive himself for what occurred. It is simple to argue that the Seventh Man should not forgive himself for failing to save K. One may assert that the narrator could have physically warned K. by giving him a slight shove or patting him on the back. Although this is logical, if one were to literally put him or herself in the Seventh Man s situation, he or she would recognize the overwhelming amount of thoughts running through his head in the moment. Since then, literary historians and scholars have uncovered myths revealing an unforeseen buried past. These hallowed accounts have become the center focus of explaining the early history of the Mesopotamian civilization, and the natural phenomenon s that have existed. In particular, the Babylonian epic of creation, Enuma Elish, which served the purpose of explaining the genesis of the universe and how people first came to inhabit it, reveals a parallelism with the Greek s Theogony. The conquest of Mesopotamia by the Greeks in the year 331 126 BC can be theorized as one of the potentiality for the Mesopotamian influence on the Greek s Theogony. The influence of the Mesopotamian tradition is seen in the Greek s account of the creation myth through parallel concepts. Although Enuma Elish and Theogony have a unique account of how the world began, and how people first came to inhabit it, they are both analogous in the sense that these creation myths are based on the foundation of: a successive motif whereby the newer gods overthrow the older, the rise of an ambitious hero, and an imperfect creation. In Theogony, and analogous to Enuma Elish, there exists a sequential motif whereby the newer gods overthrow the older. The Issue Of Insider Outsider In terms of the theoretical issues in qualitative research, the issue of insider outsider has arisen as one of the debated topics for some recent scholars (e.g. Kanuha, 2000; Dwyer and Buckle, 2009). Historically, social researchers commonly agreed with the separation of facts and values and the interdiction on employing values in assessing of truth permit research becoming objective (David and Sutton, 2004:17). Here an objective research refers to researcher objectively eliminate their own gaze in the course or research. In this sense, researchers should be acted as an outsider who common attributes are shared by the research participants. The founders of the city is uncertain but archaeologists believe it was built by the Toltec people. The city was mostly ruins by the time the Aztecs took over. It is one of the most visited archeological spots in Mexico. The Fall of Teotihuacan was very sudden and was believed to be invaded by the spanish. When the Aztecs found Teotihuacan they believed that is where it all started they brought in some of their own religion. They saw it as the place the Gods sacrificed themselves for the world to be recreated. There are many ruins located in Teotihuacan. Under this pyramid they found underground tunnels and rooms that were most likely used for rituals. Gods then were fed and nourished with the sacrificed blood and flesh which ensured the continued balance and prosperity of Aztec society. (ancient.eu) By feeding the Sun God he would have enough power to raise the sun the next morning. Ceremonies were held in specific pyramids usually the largest. They placed whoever they were going to sacrifice on the stone and open their chest up right there and then and take out their heart. The heart was then placed on a stone vessel and burned for the God. The Temple of The Feathered Serpent is the Third largest ruin and hundreds of bodies were discovered under it. • 38. Why Recreational Hunting Of Western Canada Is Morally... In his letter titled Why Recreational Hunting in Western Canada is Morally Justified, Sven states that he is arguing for responsible hunting where the primary benefits are the pleasure of hunting animals in the wilderness and eating their meat. Despite several strengths, his weaknesses in reasoning outweigh the few positives. Thus, the letter s overall worth is negligible. The letter s weaknesses in reasoning lie in Sven s central justifications for recreational hunting, being human pleasure and eating meat, in his supporting argument for animal suffering, and in his failure to define recreational hunting s necessity. To begin, I will address the strengths of Sven s letter. The first strength is that Sven defines his argument s parameters, allowing him to eliminate several counterarguments against his claim. Sven specifies that the hunting type he argues for does not include killing for protection or sustenance, nor negligent hunting practices that promote needless harm to humans, property, or wildlife. Additionally, Sven rejects using bait or vehicles. Sven s most significant strength is when he defines the moral relationship between humans and animals, stating, [a]nimals deserve respect, but so do humans, and when there is conflict of interests, the interest that humans have in feeding their families must prevail. Stuart Rachels, in his evaluation of Utilitarianism, argues that humans are special in many ways but are not the only beings capable of suffering, and thus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Australian Identit in Piper’s Son by Dominic Finch-Mackee... Identity. It s a broad and difficult concept. As Australians, our identity is multi faceted, having various different expressions. One aspect of my sense of Australian identity is masculinity and the idea of the Aussie Battler. An Aussie Battler is a man from the working class, a person who has pride in the country they live in. An Aussie battler is a patriarchal figure who works hard to support their family, often spending their spare time with the family or at the pub. The Piper s Son, an Australian novel by Melina Marchetta, reflects my sense of Australian identity through it s representation of Australian masculinity in the depiction of Dominic Finch Mackee as the archetypal Aussie Battler. The Aussie Battler is a facet of my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the novel, Dominic s heavy, and eventually unhealthy dependence on alcohol is talked about. After the death of Joe, Dominic drinks himself to oblivion. This display of Dominic s reliance on alcohol reflects the idea of an Aussie Battler, a person who deals with adversity in the unconventional way of drinking alcohol instead of talking about it. Through characterisation, Dominic Finch Mackee can be read as a representation of Australian masculinity through his depiction as the archetypal Aussie Battler. This contrasts to the representation of my sense of Australian identity in First Dance, a short story by Penelope Rowe which depicts alcohol, sexual violence and the pack mentality as elements of Australian adolescent masculinity. As an Australian, my sense of identity in terms of adolescent masculinity is that there is a definite nature of sexual aggression, alcoholism and a pack like mentality. In First Dance, my sense of identity is reflected through the characterisation of the adolescent men. In the short story, the group of teenage boys exhibit a pack. Roy the natural born leader of the group, keeps his boys in order and makes sure they didn t get out of line, depriving them of attention. The rest of the group, looked up to Roy, relying on him. This structure of the group of teenage boys likens them to a wolf pack Roy being the alpha male with an unspoken hierarchy in the remainder of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, was engaging to see what will be different from presidents to vice presidents. As I watched vice president debates after third presidential debate, I can say that topics were same. They were discussing topics about immigration, Syria, Russia, economy and education. I did not like that vice presidents interrupted each other a lot of times, but overall, it was a very cognitive and open debate. The first topic was about economic issues and vice president s views about our economy. The reporter has asked the first question about their explanation of a fact that non partisan committees said neither of their economic plans will reduce the national debt. Pence started by stating that he has done an excellent job as a governor with balanced budget. Republicans plan is to cut taxes and improve the education. They believe cutting taxes will help US economy to move again. Also, he has stated the willingness of repealing Obama Care since it does not work as it is right now. According to Pence, when they will get the economy growing, only after they can deal with the national debt. Kiane brought the 5 components plan that they are planning to make. • 41. Woman Hating Dworkin writes scathingly on footbinding in her book Woman Hating, alleging that in obtaining a crippled wife, a man glories in her agony, he adores her deformity, he annihilates her freedom, he will have her as a sex object, even if he must destroy the bones in her feet to do it. Brutality, sadism, and oppression emerge as the substantive core of the romantic ethos. (Dworkin 112). Jeffreys quotes the above from Dworkin in her own analysis of feet binding, ultimately concluding that foot binding was the nascent precursor of a wave of prostitution which swept China. Indeed, Jeffreys adopts the dominate theory posited by John Mao, prefacing that Women were dragooned into binding their daughters feet, despite knowing the pain it would cause, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their arguments only point out how women are incapacitated or used as objects. However, as Brown s field study showed, this analysis fails to comprehensively address causative forces of male dominance from an economic standpoint. Though they are right in identifying male lust as the driving force behind the subjugation of women, what is misunderstood are the consequences of such lust, which do not cease with direct harm or objectification of women. By engaging in beauty practices, women are not only rendered playthings, which is what the three seem to suggest, but are additionally retooled to fit subservient economic roles, which serve to heighten and establish the hierarchal dominance of men. Applying this economic perspective provides greater resolution and understanding of patriarchal hierarchies. As Karen A. Callaghan observes in her introduction to the anthology Ideals of Feminine Beauty: Philosophical, Social, and Cultural Dimensions, The gender hierarchy is sustained by beauty norms that define women s power, self assertion and worth in terms that reify male dominance. (Callaghan ix). Understanding the consolidation of male dominance necessitates defining these hierarchies in a way that describes how female subservience is produced. It is important to note that these hierarchies are multifaceted and exist as political, social, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Film Analysis Of The Movie Inception The film Inception captured the imagination of many spectators as one of the best science fiction and thriller movies to be produced that year. It was produced and directed by Christopher Nolan who also directed The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. Inception is based on the basic inspiration that a single idea in an individual s mind can be either the most valuable asset or the most dangerous weapon. Inception is a science fiction thriller movie. This genre deals with situations and technology that would be classified as scientific, but does not exist in real life. Inception connects with this because of the technology they used to enter the dreams. Although it was never explained, the machine seems to pump somnacin into the body. Somnacin is a drug utilized to initiate dream sharing and lucid dreaming. The movie is also classified as a thriller because of the exciting plot. It has intense chase scenes, gun fire, explosions, and fight scenes all within the dream state. The expectation for the movie based on the trailer would be constant action. It seems that the main character is away from his family and is trying to get home, but the only way he can is to do one last job. In the trailer the statement your mind is the scene of the crime is shown, this indicates that most of the content will be in the dreams of the subject.
